    I just upgraded to version 9.0.1 of PLSQL Developer and when I add debug information or compile it makes my object invalid.

    If I try to compile invalid objects in PLSQL Developer it does not show my object but when I go to oracle and show invalid objects by function shows up.

    Has anyone had this happen?

    Thanks.

    DB:3.38:Plsql Developer Causing Invalid Objects p3

    If you change an object, a depended objects gets invalid, as soon as you use them next time there is an implicit compile so your code and everything else still works right? It's just that you see it "invaild"?

    Why am I getting a compile time error when importing the entire objects package (import objects[star];) and no error when importing all classes within that package individually (import objects.Obj; import objects.Load; import objects.Clickable;)? Is there a pre-defined package called objects (as this may be the issue as I assume)?

However, that Obj class was, at one point, part of the space package, but I removed it completely and placed it in the objects package.Looking at the error message closely it sure looks llike the compiler is finding some class that it thinks is Obj in the space package.

    Hi
    I found in our R12.0.6 instance, there were many invalid objects. Using adadmin, compile APPS schema has reduced its total count. Re-run again compile apps schema but still these are not getting compiled. Invalid objects are more than 100, one procedure and 112 package bodies, how to recompile them?

    Although I would not recommend dropping these objects as they are standard OWB objects, in your case it could work because you don't use them. Be aware that your intervention could void your OWB support contract.

    Hi all!
    I have a question, when I shutdown an instance and I restart it, there are some procedures/functions that are INVALID...I wonder why...
    And, if it is "normal", I wonder whether there is the possibility to compile all invalid objects...without search on the instance which are not valid...
    thanks!!

    DB:3.13:Compile All Invalid Objects 93

    Hi Milena,

    you could also use the Oracle supplied dbms_Utility package. There you find the procedure

    COMPILE_SCHEMA(
    schema VARCHAR2,
    compile_all BOOLEAN DEFAULT TRUE
    );

    You could call this procedure for all schemas as needed.

    Have a nice day.

    Hi everybody,

    thank you for read this message.

    I am using Linux Red Hat (I do not know how I can get the version) and I have j2sdk1.4.1_02.

    The problem is that I can not compile from the konsole using javac a class the using objects defined by classes created by myself. That means, that I can compile a simple class that uses just java objects (String, int, double, etc.) (cl01.class) but when I want to use a clases that uses "cl01 obj = new cl01();" the compiler can not find cl01.class, but it is in the same directory.

    Do you know where I have to put my cl01.class file to be detected by the second class that uses it. Or How can I specify to java that look for classes in my directory?

    Any comment is welcome,

    is it possible that you didn't have xml db installed when you initially installed html db? if so, there's a good chance that wwv_xml_util's spec never successfully compiled. regardless, that's that your error's saying, so try that please. try compiling the files htmldb/core/xmlutil.sql and maybe even htmldb/core/wwv_flow_dataload_xml.sql then htmldb/core/xmlutil.plb and htmldb/core/wwv_flow_dataload_xml.plb. also try compiling htmldb/core/wwv_flow_xliff.sql and htmldb/core/wwv_flow_xliff.plb for your invalid wwv_flow_xliff message. if you still have issues after that please send your install.lst file and the errors from your pkgs to htmldb_us@oracle.com, and we'll take a closer look.

    Could you please let me know, how to convert/compile .java file to .class file?

    DB:3.03:How To Convert/Compile .Java File To .Class File? mc

    Actually, I'd say, at first, you need to get yourself in a Java training if you don't want to use and IDE because you'll have to configure the compilation with the classpath, etc...

    Second, I'd recommend using an IDE, it makes it much easier to configure, compile, see the errors/warnings and act on them
    Third, depending on what kind of Java app you're building, follow the appropriate documentaton in order to set the classpath.

    PS: there is a document explaining ho to configure the Eclipse IDE to develop WDK based apps. You can also use Composer as it is an Eclipse based product.

    DB:3.01:Invalid Java Classes After Portal 3.0.8 -≫ 3.0.9 Upgrade. s9

    Mahima, who are you that you say we?
    I'm currently trying to upgrade my database from 8.1.6.2 to 8.1.7.1.0b, following the readme file for the rdbms upgrade caused me to lose my portal. I also had lots of invalid objects which can be resolved but it takes really long. Any suggestions?
    Is it really okay for Erik to drop these invalid objects?
    How are we supposed to maintain this portal beast for upgrades to sw and the rdbms?

    DB:2.99:Invalid Objects After Database Upgradation To 10g Rel2 cm

    Hi,

    We have upgraded our database from 8.1.7.4 to 10g rel2 through Database Configuration Assisstant.

    Database is in open mode and also working fine.

    But when i queried for the invalid objects for verification, the total no. of invalid objects have increased.
    The following are the different types of invalid objects that are found in our database after upgradation,out of which mostly are Synonyms and Java class objects.

    OBJECT_TYPE Total Invalid
    ----------------- -------------
    PROCEDURE 14
    PACKAGE BODY 1
    VIEW 1
    FUNCTION 1
    SYNONYM 847
    JAVA CLASS 850
    ----------------- -------------
    Total 1714

    Kindly suggest the solution to get it solve.

    Regards
    Milin

    DB:2.98:Symantic Errors km

    Hi ,

    I wrote few java programs and from one class iam calling the methods of another class by creating the objects of them..

    When iam using the standards checking tool for checking my java code i am getting these errors

    program1.java:13:symantic error in
    BindPar objBindPar = new BindPar();
    Type BindPar was not found.

    program1.java:13:symantic error in
    BindPar objBindPar = new BindPar();
    A candidate for type "BindPar" was found, but it is invalid and needs to be fixed before this type will successfully compile.

    program1.java:19:symantic error in
    public void assignRole(String EMPID,String[] RoleName, int index,LogGlobalUser logBean)throws Exception
    Type LogGlobalUser was not found.

    program1.java:27:symantic error in
    this.executeScript(cmdStr,EMPID,logBean);
    No applicable overload for the method named "executeScript" was found in type "assignAppRoleGlobalUser". Perhaps you wanted the overloaded version "void executeScript(java.lang.String[] cmdStr, java.lang.String EMPID, ?? logBean) throws java.lang.Exception;" instead?

    program1.java:50:symantic error in
    this.executeScript(cmdStr,EMPID,logBean);
    No applicable overload for the method named "executeScript" was found in type "assignAppRoleGlobalUser". Perhaps you wanted the overloaded version "void executeScript(java.lang.String[] cmdStr, java.lang.String EMPID, ?? logBean) throws java.lang.Exception;" instead?kindly, help me to solve these issues.

    Thanks in advance

    DB:2.98:Symantic Errors km

    Jikes gives errors like this (I think - from a bit of Googling). Maybe you
    need a full rebuild, so that it will tell you exactly what it is about BindPar,
    for example, that is "invalid".

    Hi everybody, im deploying an application to an oracle application server, also im using netbeans 4.0 and Java 1.5. When i compile the files and i deploy the files to the AS and finally i run the application i get the following error: "Invalid class format". I thinnk it could the version of Java because im using 1.5 and there is a Java 1.4 version in the server, and maybe there are troubles with the bytecode generated. Id really aprecciate your help. Thank you very much

    DB:2.97:Invalid Class File Format p1

    Marcos, what is your version of AS? When exactly did the error happen? What is the full error message? There is a known situation that this error would occur; however, I would like to know your settings first.

    When we run utlirp.sql it makes valid objects to invalid objects and it compiles them.But in what case do we need to make the valid objects invalid.Why dont we just compile the invalid objects directly it reduces the work rite?
    Kindly tell me whats the reason and when will we go for it.

    I found many invalid objects after new install the R12 vision demo (12.1.1) with DB v11.1.0.7, can I drop the following invalid objects then upgrade to R12.1.3 ?I would not drop those objects before the upgrade since they are seeded ones.

    Please see these docs to compile those objects before you upgrade to 12.1.3 since you might encounter issues during 12.1.3 upgrade if those objects are invalid.

    DB:2.94:Package Compilation Problem 3m

    Hi,
    I'm presently trying to learn packages in java. I have two example classes I want to compile to learn to use packages. One is Dice class and on is ThrowDice. ThrowDice uses Dice by creating two Dice objects. If i put them in the same directory and compile them without any package declaration they compile fine. If I put ThrowDice into the directory home/antlaw/java/Applications with "import Parsons.Dice" and Dice into home/antlaw/java/Applications/Parsons with package declaration "package Parsons" they compile and work fine. However, because I'm wanting to learn how to compile packages I've experimented a bit, and found that 1) if i declare ThrowDice as a package also of "Applications" (i.e. the directory it's in) by adding "package Applications" the two classes compiles but won't run (throws a load of exceptions) 2) if I create another directory "Apps" and move ThrowDice into this subdirectory (i.e. home/antlaw/java/Apps) and make the following package and import declaration changes to both Dice and ThrowDice classes

    Dice = "package Applications.Parsons"
    ThrowDice = "package Apps" and "import Applications.Parsons.Dice"

    ThrowDice won't compile as it gives the following errors:
    ThrowDice.java:2: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class Dice
    location: package Parsons
    import Applications.Parsons.Dice;
    ^
    ThrowDice.java:8: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class Dice
    location: class Apps.ThrowDice
    Dice dice1 = new Dice();
    ^
    ThrowDice.java:8: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class Dice
    location: class Apps.ThrowDice
    Dice dice1 = new Dice();
    ^
    ThrowDice.java:9: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class Dice
    location: class Apps.ThrowDice
    Dice dice2 = new Dice();
    ^
    ThrowDice.java:9: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class Dice
    location: class Apps.ThrowDice
    Dice dice2 = new Dice();
    5 errors

    indicating that it cannot find the Dice class.
    In my home profile (I'm a linux user Suse 7.3) I've declared the classpath as follows:
    export PATH=/home/antlaw/java:$PATH
    I'm a bit "stumped" with what's wrong i.e. am i using packages incorrectly or is there something wrong with my classpath? Any help/advice would be gratefully received.
    Cheers -- Tony.

    Hi folks!
    I've exported an schema from Oracle 9.2.0.2 and imported it on Oracle 11.2.01.0
    When I check import log file I found several errors, so I check the objects status with the following query:

    select 'alter '||OBJECT_TYPE||' '||OWNER||'.'||OBJECT_NAME||' compile;' from dba_objects where STATUS ='INVALID'

    And, among others, I've a lot of java classes on invalid state.
    When I try to recompile them, I get the following error:

    SQL alter JAVA CLASS /43607b10_SQLServerLicense compile;
    alter JAVA CLASS /43607b10_SQLServerLicense compile
    *
    ERROR at line 1:

    Do you have any suggestion?
    Thanks in advance.

    DB:2.93:Errors Triying To Compile Migrated Java Class a8

    I've found the solution.
    I've to put "" for each object, so sqlplus doesn't convert to uppercase classes names.

    Kindly guide me on this ... is there anything possible other than this ? or there is no way at all ?

    but it is not workingWhat people haven't mentioned yet is that "SHOW ERRORS" is an SQL*Plus command. SQL*Plus is a tool that is seperate from the SQL or PL/SQL languages. Just because you can write "SHOW ERRORS" in SQL*Plus doesn't mean that you can do it from within PL/SQL code either with or without using Execute Immediate.

    As already mentioned, you'll need to query the all_errors/user_errors view to extract details of errors for database objects... but again, as already mentioned, why re-invent the wheel when Oracle already provides utilities/scripts to compile all objects.

    DB:2.91:Help Populating An Array Of Objects 1x

    New here, trying to figure this out.

    I'm trying to create an array of objects, then populate the array defining fields. I stripped this down as far as i could to simplify the problem but I get the following error when I compile (i tweaked the carrot placment, formating issues i guess):

    PointsTest.java:41: ']' expected
    cubeArray[0] = new Point();
    ^
    PointsTest.java:41: invalid method declaration; return type required
    cubeArray[0] = new Point();
    ^
    2 errors

    My code:
    class PointsTest{
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    //So far, this works.
    //convert 3 numbers to point coordinates held in temp variables

    float xT = (Float.valueOf(args[0])).floatValue();
    float yT = (Float.valueOf(args[1])).floatValue();
    float zT = (Float.valueOf(args[2])).floatValue();
    Point point1 = new Point(xT, yT, zT);
    point1.printXYZ();
    }
    }

    class Point {
    //A BASIC point class
    //********************************
    //fields defined
    float x, y, z;
    //********************************
    //a constructor that sets initial XYZ values
    Point(float startX, float startY, float startZ) {
    x = startX;
    y = startY;
    z = startZ;
    }
    //a no argument constructor for defualt states
    Point () {
    x = 0;
    y = 0;
    z = 0;
    }
    //********************************
    //method
    void printXYZ(){
    System.out.println("coordinates: " + x + " " + y + " " + z);
    }
    }

    class Cube{
    Point cubeArray[] = new Point[9];
    cubeArray[0] = new Point();
    }I've looked for answers online without much luck, I'm not worried about using a loop to populate the array at the moment (you can do it one at a time, right?). Didn't see any obvious listings in the java tutorials about arrays of objects. Any help would be appreciated.

    You might want to try downloading a newer Tomcat Version 4.1.18 works well. Follow the URL below. I have tried this version with the SDK 1.4 in the past, without problems. It might be that your older version of Tomcat just doesn't like the 1.4 SDK. Would take 5 minutes max on a decent http connection to DL and install.

    I can get as far as the DAD administration pages but trying to access any database content
    via a DAD fails with the following error:

    Call to WPG_SESSION API Failed.

    Error-Code:6550
    Error TimeStamp:Wed, 25 Apr 2001 12:20:16 GMT
    Database Log In Failed
    TNS is unable to connect to destination. Invalid TNS address supplied or destination is not listening. This error

    can also occur because of underlying network transport problems.

    Verify that the TNS name in the connectstring entry of the DAD for this URL is valid and the database listener is

    running.

    The TNS names entry for the DAD seem okay and I can tnsping the database from the command line without any

    problems.

    Has anyone any idea what I might have done ?

    Also the DADs that I had previously set up seem to have dissapeared. All of the portal components, graphs, charts

    etc are still present in the database schema which happens to be a different one from the portal30 schema that was

    updated.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    DB:2.88:Upgrading From Portal 3.0.7 To 3.0.8 Problems zx

    You can do that. But do not run the portal configuration assistant when you install the iAS 1.0.2.1.

    Just to make the things clear...

    The portal configutation assistant will always install a new portal schema. But thats not what you want. You want to upgrade the existing the portal in your database.

    The portal upgrade scripts will make changes only to the database (for e.g. schema changes, metadata changes and new code compilation).

    The middle tier (9i Application Server) is not touched by these scripts. To make the upgraded portal work, you need to have the 9i Application Server 1.0.2.1 (either freshly installed into a seperate ORACLE_HOME or migrated from an older version of 9i Application Server into the same ORACLE_HOME).

    DB:2.88:Re-Loading Of Initjvm.Sql And Loadjava Other Issues 89

    How to I clean this up? and basically start from scratch where
    I initialize from the initjvm.sql ?

    Okay, I came across an internal error with the infamous "NoClassDefFound"
    Exception pointing to OracleDriver when using loadjava and also similar
    error with using dropjava. These command worked before because
    I am able use loadjava to load-in xmlparserv2.jar and oraclexsql.jar
    and actually is serving xml/xsl formatted files. I don't know
    what happend it just suddenly cant resolve the OracleDriver, and
    I checked and made sure classes12.zip or classes111.zip is in the
    CLASSPATH. The 2nd line error is pointing to aurora. I am on a
    SuSe linux 7.2 2.4.4 kernel, oracle 8.1.7 and using the XDK9.0.2.0.0D.

    Shutting down and booting up this morning somehow allowed me to
    use dropjava command again. In frustration I decided to dropjava
    all the jar files I can remember loading. However, when I check
    the user_objects, I still show perhaps 50 more or less XML objects
    still loaded as statused by this excerpt of a query:

    OBJECT_NAME OBJECT_TYPE STATUS
    /1286f569_XMLPICover JAVA CLASS INVALID
    /12b4920f_XMLAttrCover JAVA CLASS INVALID
    /1b07aace_XMLParserCover JAVA CLASS INVALID

    /1f04f94f_XSDParserState JAVA CLASS INVALID
    /1f0a3619_XMLNotationCover JAVA CLASS INVALID
    /22a1bce2_XMLNodeCover JAVA CLASS INVALID

    btw I can still serve XSQL generated files even though I thought
    I did dropjava xmlparserv2.jar and oraclexsql.jar and the other
    jars, after that I have rebooted again and started. Why?

    DB:2.88:Re-Loading Of Initjvm.Sql And Loadjava Other Issues 89

    Ambrose,

    You could write a script which does a SELECT from all_objects where object_type = 'JAVA CLASS' and product a sql file as output which contains a number of DROP JAVA CLASS "name" (or appropriate syntax);

    Hope this helps,

    We have two database packages: A B. A is dependent on B and B is also dependent on A. So if I compile packages one at a time it always has one remains invalid. But if you use Compile invalid objects button in Toad you got all compiled. I am just wondering how Toad takes care of this. Does it compile the objects one at a time? Can somebody share some insight?

    Thanks a lot,

    DB:2.87:Compile Database Packages fp

    If these are really packages, then there are package specifications and package bodies. Package body A relies on package specification B. And package body B relies on package specification A. But there is no dependency between the two bodies or between the two specifications. So you can

    - Compile package A spec
    - Compile package B spec
    - Compile package A body
    - Compile package B body

    and things will always be valid. You can also reverse the order so long as you first compile the two specs and then compile the two bodies.

    Hello friends -

    I'm currently getting the following error at servicegen ant time:

    *****************************************************
    weblogic.xml.schema.binding.BindingExceptio
    n: Invalid class received: interface java.util.Enumeration loaded from file:/C:/bea/jdk1
    41_05/jre/lib/rt.jar!/java/util/Enumeration.class. All classes that will be serialized
    or deserialized must be non-interface, non-abstract classes that provide a public default constructor
    ******************************************************

    I've done some reading, but most of what I find seems to indicate that this is an issue with wanting to return an unserializable object type from a web service. In my case, I simply want to use a Properties object inside of my web service to retrieve values that would be useful to change without a recompilation. My input and output do not include Enumeration type objects. If I modify my methods to use hardcoded values instead of opening a file using Properties, servicegen will compile the web service fine.

    I've also seen some postings indicating this could be a classpath related issue, but have yet to make progress on that end either.

    Is it impossible to use / reference any object which does not implement serializable within a web service, even if your input or return types do not utilize these objects?

    Any and all guidance is appreciated.

    Thanks!
    cm

    DB:2.86:Bindingexception - Invalid Class Received sz

    java.util.Enumeration is an interface. You can't send/return interfaces via "SOAP". you'll need to send/return a concrete class, such as the class you retrieved the Enumeration from, and have your client retrieve the Enumeration.

    Hope this helps!

    Alig,

    You can use adodfcmp to create the table -- See (Note: 137176.1 - The ADODFCMP Utility) for details. However, I would suggest you create a database link and create the table using "SQL create table table name as select * from table name@db link;" command.

    You might want to post this one to jetty-discuss@yahoogroups.com.If it is important to you to use 1.4, you could try recompiling Jetty - the bundle ships with the source. I think you just need to put ant in your path and go to the top level jetty directory and call 'ant'.If the integration code needs recompiling you will have to pull it from CVS.     boolean b = i == x1;

    If I use another variable with the type of Y the comparsion would be executed at runtime.

    Thanks a lot

    DB:2.83:Why To Restart Server For Any Change In Java Class File cs

    Hi,
    why do we have to restart the servlet/JSP server (unlike jsps) , after we change some thing in the java file and then compile it when the server is running. as the server loads the servlet or java class objects as and when rrequired. so it should take the newer version of compiled class file when request is given for it .
    I am not quite sure but It is also true for web.xml file ( deployement descriptor file) also

    thanks

    DB:2.83:Why To Restart Server For Any Change In Java Class File cs

    jsp's
    When a request is mapped to a JSP page, it is handled by a special servlet that first checks whether the JSP page's servlet is older than the JSP page. If it is, it translates the JSP page into a servlet class and compiles the class. During development, one of the advantages of JSP pages over servlets is that the "build" process is performed automatically.

    servlets
    If an instance of the servlet does not exist, the web container:
    Loads the servlet class
    Creates an instance of the servlet class
    Initializes the servlet instance by calling the init method. Initialization is covered in Initializing a Servlet.

    btw, at this moment looks like the invalid objects are Java classes only. fyi, to check if any non-Java objects are invalid, you could run the following to see:

    select substr(owner,1,12) owner,
    substr(object_name,1,30) object,
    substr(object_type,1,30) type, status
    from dba_objects
    where owner = 'MDSYS' and OBJECT_TYPE != 'JAVA CLASS'
    and status='INVALID';

    This info would be helpful to solve the problems.

    DB:2.83:Re: Unable To Preview Georaster Theme px

    Rafiou,

    yes you are in the right place. SURE, you can load the pictures into GeoRaster objects and define a GeoRaster theme for each GeoRaster, then you can display, pan, zoom in and zoom out the pictures on internet using MapViewer.

    The pictures can easily be tiled either when you load them or afterwards by using the GeoRaster tuning tool: sdo_geor.changeFormatCopy. in general you should call sdo_geor.generatePyramid to generate pyramids for each GeoRaster object. MapViewer will pick up the right pyramid level from the database when you zoom in and out. Also, you can use Oracle Maps and leverage caching to speed up and support multi-users.

    come on ...That was a perfectly valid solution.

    Do you know how to call the sun.* compiler? If not then search the forums for it. If that interface still exists (which it might not in newer versions) you then will create a string stream from your class and pass it to that.

    DB:2.82:Ora-29521 Referenced Name Javax/Servlet/Servletrequest Could Not Be Found aa

    After applying patch 4676589 (11i.ATG_PF.H RUP4) I have many invalid objects that will not compile. Most of them are object type "JAVA CLASS". The error I get most when attempting to compile is "ORA-29521 referenced name javax/servlet/ServletRequest could not be found". At Oracle's request I regen'ed jar files and that resulted in even more invalid objects that will not compile.

    I believe if javax/servlet/ServletRequest could be found it would resolve most of the invalids.

    Can anyone tell me, please:

    What is javax/sevlet/ServletRequest ?

    Where is it supposed to be ?

    What is supposed to put it there ?

    It means that on your enviroment servlet.jar is missing from /oraapp/app/aplprjd/prjdora/iAS/Apache/Ojsp/lib/servlet.jar

    Get this jar from any webserver or appserver lib directory or you can also get it from C:\jdev\jdevbin\j2ee\home\lib.

    Thanks

    Because that's how the Java language is defined. Static methods are--surprise--statically bound. That is, which class' version of the method to call is determined at compile time. These are class methods. They're associated with the class, not the object, and it's objects that give us runtime polymorphism.
