Firefox 3.6.8 repeatedly crashes and the message details are Plugins/Plugin Basket!!!
The original Firefox Namoroka 3.6.3 is not only faster but does not crash?

    b) Why are there NO security updates for Firefox Namoroka 3.6.3?

Namoroka is the nightly tester version of what will become the next Firefox release, and it is up to - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.9pre) Gecko/20100813 Namoroka/3.6.9pre ID:20100813042130 - right now.

If you are having problems with the Plugin Container in 3.6.8, you will probably have the same problems with 3.6.9pre, too.

The first thing you should do is to update to the latest "86" release that came put this past Thursday.

Namoroka, like the build computers for the more current developmental nightlies only build new updates when there is checkins. Before it used to automatically build new builds even when there were no checkins that day or longer. The last update to this branch as a result was August 25 until the August 31 build.

I actually haven't switched to 3.6, as I need the IE extender for some sites, and that isn't working on 3.6 yet, so I keep telling it to ask me later.

I do have some smart printing recommendations that I use regularly:

    * If your eyes can handle it, print 2 pages per sheet. I also duplex.

    * Always, always use print preview. That will prevent useless pages from printing.

    * Also, you can print everything in black ink only. I use fast draft for all my text stuff (which automatically goes to black only)

    1. For under 500,000 in Oracle 9i, rollup is faster than cube.
But above 1,000,000, cube is faster than rollup.
    Right?

Rollup summarises data differently to cube, so to say one is faster or slower than the other is not a question one should consider necessarily.
The main consideration should be in what format you would like the result set to be in.

    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e16579/aggreg.htm#DWHSG8609
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/owb.112/e10935/dim_objects.htm#WBETL03002

    2. Why do rollup(a) and cube(a) all have a parameter?

The parameter(s) refers to the Grouping against which the data is summarised.
The Oracle documentation states the following:

CUBE takes a specified set of grouping columns and creates subtotals for all of their possible combinations

So both rollup and cube could summarise across a group of column(s).

    3. Under only one parameter, the compute process of cube and rollup is not the same, right?

Correct, depends what you want to summarise against.

There are normally some gadgets forming a left column -- most browsers under most systems display it correctly but Firefox under Arch doesnt. thexmannz,

I glad you were able to restore some of your data. I wonder if that data was under a different Windows Logon User Account?

I consider that action to be a Bug (I tested that pref when it was new in May, 2008), and I filed a Bug report about it.

    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434123

It was resolved as INVALID because I made a mistaken assumption about SeaMonkey data also being lost in the description of the events that led to my losing 5 separate Firefox / BonEcho / Minefield Profiles.

As it turns out, that is the intended action of that preference, as pointed out by one of the Mozilla developers.

    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434123#c9

Regardless of the "name" of the product - Firefox, Namoroka, Minefield, etc - all "Firefox" browsers (look at the name of the executable in each program files folder - they're all named firefox.exe) store user data (the Profile folder) in the same location and it doesn't identify which Profile belongs with a particular program installation. The profiles.ini file is what the Profile Manager uses to "control" the Profiles, and there isn't any way of matching a particular Profile with a specific "Firefox" installation in that file.

That preference wipes all data below and including the %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\ folder.

    4. There is no substitute for speed I don't DL movies I do video conferences watch ESPN 360 use radiotracker and other music software. I test some software and get some games from Omni. All require high bandwidth so does MLB.TV which requires minimum 3m for HD. Here's my point you don't know what anyone needs because needs are individual and dynamic. Two weeks ago I could care less about Omni now it's an option I'm going to test. I've found 1.5 upload is OK but video conferencing could use more upload bandwidth for better quality video output. IMHO it's not a cap on the system because I can't tell the result of not having the reserve, at the moment it's better by far to what's offered by TW. I had a choice I when with UV and I'm happy with the decision.
Sorry I had to lump these all together I have another issue that has my hair on fire Bitdefender
Let's not mince words here. You and I know full well that watching movies is no different than watching ESPN or Video Conferences. A video stream is a video stream be it live or recorded no matter what the video is.

I never said that I knew what people needed. I said that many people do not need these higher speeds because what they do on the interent may not require them.

Is it not just as wrong to "assume" that everyone needs high speed as it is to "assume" that everyone does not need high speed?

"You and I know full well that watching movies is no different than watching ESPN or Video Conferences. A video stream is a video stream"

This is not strictly true in the U-Verse context. U-Verse video (and U-Verse VoIP) carries Quality of Service marking that provides priority over "regular" Internet traffic, which is what ESPN site and VIdeo Conferences (and Netflix, and Vonage for IP Phone) are.

Anything falling into the "regular Internet traffic" basket is at regular (which is to say "has none") priority. Is that an issue? Usually not. Priority markings only matter in times of congestion, and depending on the type of traffic that comprises the congestion, QOS marking may not make a difference (i.e., if all the traffic is at the same priority level, then none of it gets priority, and the queue may even be smaller / more congestable).

A correction I'd like to mention regards the available bandwidth/throughput/capacity of the average U-Verse user's link. In most cases the 25.8 Mbps provided is only a slice of the Maximum Available Bit Rate, which is generally in the 35-55Mbps range (and in some cases, more). On a single copper pair (much more on a single strand of fiber). At the implementation of VDSL2 and / or pair bonding, which is in trial for tweaking in several markets, more bandwidth/throughput/capacity and/or greater full-service distances are possible.

Also assigned bandwidth for video is 7.5Mbps + Audio for HD, 2.5Mbps + audio for SD. It is VBR, and the peaks will not / cannot cross the 7.5 / 2.5 limit (per stream, of course). So 18Mbps signaling rate (which is not the throughput) is available to a user with a single HD stream or up to three SD streams up concurrently with the Internet traffic. It should be noted that the raw capacity is still governed by other TCP/IP limitations, and is also affected by limitations of the Gateway hardware. For more advanced applications, or applications with higher data densities, the user would usually find improved performance adding a dedicated router or SOHO router in the RG's DMZ mode.

XLs are the successor of the LLs. LLs aren't made anymore. Memory prices change daily. The LL prices are at what they were 6 months or so ago because that is when they were last sold. Memory prices have dropped since then, therefore the XLs are cheaper than the LLs.

Would you be willing to share both a sample file as well as a full description of the issue at our File Conversion Issue Form? We'd love to take a closer look to see if we can determine what's going on, and, if possible, make changes to our system to handle these types of files.

The answer is quite simple: Safari requires a system configuration of Windows XP SP2 or greater, and you don't have that. SP2 includes the Windows Installer 3.

Perhaps the way you are starting 3.6.3 is starting it with a new Profile or in safe-mode ? or there is a problem with the old third-party build you have (built April last year).

Namoroka is the codename for the third-party and 1.9.2-mozilla branch nightly builds of Firefox 3.6.*

There is no 64-bit versions of Firefox 3.6.* release from Mozilla nor any other 64-bit release yet so you likely have a third-party build of the old Firefox 3.6.3 (3.6.22 is current) and especially because there is no pre on end of Firefox version on your user agent.

Point is the software updater will not provide updates to builds that Mozilla did not well build if third-party. You will have to manually download 3.6.22 your self and install it.

sorry for my english... i am using Firefox 7.0 Alpha 1 (Nightly Channel), this version is awesome, is really faster than Firefox 3, but my question is ¿Nightly is a official project? because if it were not so I would use Aurora...

DB:2.42:Nightly Is A Official Version Or Is Better Aurora? j9

    Helpful Reply

Nightly is a unstable Trunk of development and is not a project per say. If any version were to get anything bleeding edge or risky patches in testing or addition it would be the version that is on the Nightly channel at moment first.

Mozilla has changed the way of development and is going to be faster in each release as a result but with more limited numbers of features actually put in and more control compared to say amount development behind Firefox 4.0 compared to 3.6.

The Nightly channel is not at all meant for regular Firefox users but for devs, testers and at least those who fully understand the use of separate installs and separate Profiles for each (should not share 7.0a1 profile with 4.0.1 or 3.6.* for example as problems will occur if you go back and forth).

Currently Firefox 5.0 is still officially on the Beta channel, 6.0a2 is on Aurora channel and early development of 7.0a1 is on Nightly. Within a couple weeks the 6.0 will move to Beta and 7.0a1 will move to Aurora (things will get more stable then for 7.0a2).

If you really want to be a Tester on the Nightly channel which gets updates each day (even twice on occasion) then look in http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=23

And despite what some sites claim, Mozilla has not released Firefox 5.0 yet as the release date is still June 21 at earliest.

    Hi,

So, the result% parameters are as follows, on a specific instance:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    result_cache_mode 2 MANUAL
    result_cache_max_size 6 20971520
    result_cache_max_result 3 5
    result_cache_remote_expiration 3 0

Executed in 0,156 secondsWell, if i run first time a large query, which takes much time (WITHOUT result_cache hint), this executes in 10 minutes. Then, some of my collegue said me second time i run the query i obtain the results faster than the first time, but i told him caching is not enabled, so why we got faster the results? The query execution plan is the same.

So, are any buffers, or something, from which the database retrieves the results when executing again that query? Or any explanation why it executes faster on subsequent invocations?

    Thanks

    DB:2.41:Query Executes Faster 2nd Time 8j

Ok, and if i run a very large query, or a CTAS, which takes much time, how much time will the data reside in the buffer cache?
And buffer cache is different than query result caching (which is invalidated if a DML operation is performed on an object the cache depends).

Firefox 3.6 alpha is a very old version - the latest version is 3.6.3 and is not an alpha or beta. (There is a beta 3.6.4 version available at http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-beta.html).

You may have created multiple profiles, in which case your old bookmarks are in another profile. See Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles

If another profile is not there and only bookmarks from today are showing, you may have checked the box to erase settings and data when uninstalling Firefox or Namoroka. Checking this box deletes all data, including bookmarks and settings.

    3. They don't provide a little down arrow next to the back and forward buttons that let's you see a page history list like in firefox 3.

    4. They don't provide a way to keep your bookmarks toolbar just text, and your navigation toolbar just icons at the same time like in firefox 3.

    5. Firefox 4 is glitchy. I've noticed that going back and forward doesn't always work properly.

There are currently some 64-bit plugins available for beta testers, along with pre-release builds of 64-bit Minefield (the Firefox development build line).

"Publicity" isn't needed, the developers of plugins like Flash, Java, etc. are in contact with the Mozilla developers, plus the beta testers file bug reports as necessary with the appropriate organization. There will be a 64-bit official build of Firefox available soon, but not necessarily at the same time Firefox 4.0 is released. It will probably be like the 2nd or 3rd quarter 2011.

    DB:2.38:Version 1.0.6 A Lot Faster 7p

Hello guys. I just downloaded and installed version 1.0.6.Is it just me or this version seems to run alot faster than the previous one (1.0.4). I mean something like 2 times faster. Before I had problems with viewport navigation with meshes 2-3 mil polys. Now I subdivide to 6 mil and without problems. Also subdividing, hiding is alot faster too. My hardware and software setup is the same 64 bit xp. Anyone who had the same experience

    DB:2.38:Version 1.0.6 A Lot Faster 7p

Confirmed probable speed-up here as well. 6.3 million visible polys using about 900 MB, and the brushes still fly as if their asses were on fire. I'm pretty sure that the pain barrier was somewhere around or slightly below 4 mill visible on my system with 1.0.4.Good job there, Skymatter dudes!

Firefox CRASHES ALL the time, why? why? why? Please learn from Safari, I struggle for the last 3 years with Firefox, very incompetent so sad:( davidsdale@gmail.com

Besides for Firefox's passion for crashing, I can tll for sure that Firefox is the most user friendly browser, as well very fast. Chrome is not faster then Firefox.

Only the weekly crashes that really frustrates me.

I do apologize for my statement above, but that is exactly what I experience

I dont have the crash ID, will have it for sure by tomorrow when Firefox crashes again.

    thank you

Just use Opera. Its way better than Firefox anyway. If Mozilla doesn't want to bother with Symbian, kick em to the curb.

    DB:2.38:Slower At Runtime zs

TO find a difference between DOM and SAX I found ..

    DOM vs SAX parser

Parsers are fundamental xml components, a bridge between XML documents and applications that process that XML. The parser is responsible for handling xml syntax, checking the contents of the document against constraints established in a DTD or Schema.
    DOM
    1. Tree of nodes
    2. Memory: Occupies more memory, preffered for small XML documents
    3. Slower at runtime // why ?
    4. Stored as objects
    5. Programmatically easy
    6. Ease of navigation
    SAX
    1. Sequence of events
    2. Doesn't use any memory preferred for large documents
    3. Faster at runtime
    4. Objects are to be created
    5. Need to write code for creating objects
    6. Backward navigation is not possible as it sequentially processes the document

Can someone tell why DOM Slower at runtime . Please see the above . I dont understand this part . Ease of navigation should help faster in navigation ...is not it ?

    DB:2.38:Slower At Runtime zs

In a real nutshell, DOM is slower (not just "slower") because it builds a tree. SAX doesn't. Already stated.

I have 3 Macs and yet my iMac clock is 3 minutes faster than my MacBook Pro and my MacBook Air. They all are connected to the internet when they are turned on and all are Intel processors. Any thoughts on why or how to fix this problem?

    DB:2.37:[Athlon64] Memory Question a1

I am asking Tiresmoke here - hopefully - to correct me if I am wrong but does memory running at 2 3 3 5 @ 333MHz actually run faster than memory running at 2.5 3 3 6 @ 400MHz? Perhaps not run faster but work faster?

Can you explain why .... is my explanation in one of the other posts K8T Neo2-F MS-6702E Error using Dual Channel RAM slots correct?

    Thanks

Hi.I am running Firefox 3.6 (RC2) and the LOGMEIN plug-in for firefox is not compatible. Please advise when you will amend your plugin.Thanks.

    DB:2.37:Firefox 3.6 (Rc2) 9d

I just updated mine at logmein's site. When you login to your remote rescue account and install the add-on it works now. Maybe uninstall your old add-on first for remote rescue then close firefox and go back in to logmein and reinstall the add-on.Good luck.WEBIT
