DB:4.40:"Driving Force Ex" Force Feedback z3

    Hello.
I have some problems with my "Driving Force EX"

My old steering wheel "Driving Force" doesn't support "Formula One: Championship Edition" so I bought another one: "Driving Force EX"

This wheel's force feedback doesn't work in "Formula One: Championship Edition", but in another games (gt hd, gt5) it work perfect.

Does anyone have the same problem?
    Thanks.

Having loaded GT5, I connected my wheel to my PS3. All the buttons on the wheel and both pedals work fine but there is no steering!

I connected the wheel to my PC and ran the Logitech software - the light in the centre of the wheel came on and the wheel spun during calibration after which there was resistance when turning the wheel.

Re-connected the wheel to the PS3 but again everything except steering.

Can anyone suggest what I have missed please?

    Many thanks

I am looking at buying this wheel, what are the differences with this and the pro wheel? Also is it able to be rested in your lap as i cannot tell from pictures and can't seem to find anything thats says it does or doesn't, if not are they any equally good steering wheels that do not require being screwed to a table.

I bought GRID on Thursday and am really liking it, so much that it's persuaded me to buy a steering wheel. So my question is to people who have played GRID with a steering wheel....

Would you say it is much better to play using the wheel than using a controller?

I just bought the 'Logitech Driving Force' wheel off eBay. Now I know the best one on the market is the 'Logitech G25', and I'd have probably bought it IF it came with a lap attachment! The main reason I had to buy the 'Driving Force' was that its the only Logitech wheel that comes with one. I need this as I play my PS3 sitting on my couch, with no table in front of me and there was no way I was gonna go out and buy a table just for a steering wheel lol.

Its a bit crap really, I think all the wheels should come with the lap attachment as not everyone plays their PS3 sitting in front of a desk/table.

    Darkarium wrote:

To be fair, Grid is an arcade game. Driving Wheels only really work with simulators, and on the PS3, you're pretty much limited to GT5 Prologue or F1. I can't get my G25 to work satisfactorily with Grid or DiRT, no matter how much I tweak the settings, yet GT5 Prologue drives like a real car, simply by switching to 'professional' mode.

Since I run GT4 just fine.I'm curious if other drivers experience similar problems, or know ways ofpreventing the problem.

Hi Everyone. I am having a little issue with my steering wheel Logitech Driving Force GT.

Well, it's not a problem, it's more the way GT5 handles it. The thing is that I really feel a steering dead zone when turning, and only after a certain angle it gets "heavy".

I've played lots of other racing games and you can control all those settings for the steering wheel, but in GT5 youonly have 3 options under the Steering Settings... Steering Type, Power-Assisted Steering and Feedback Strength.

I love GT5 and this is not preventing me from playing it, but it would be much better if I could get rid of that steering dead zone. I tried every combination I could, Simulation Steering type, power-assisted ON, etc, but it always has the dead zone.

Is anyone else feeling the same dead zone? Can we get rid of it?

If somebody from Sony/Polyphony Digital is watching this, please please had more setting to the steering wheel.

    Thans a million,

    Verymau

DB:3.73:Driving Force Gt Steering Dead Zone 8z

Just adding a reply here to say that I have the same issue, I feel there's too much of a deadzone on the Driving Force GT wheel in GT5.

But as you say verymau, I'm also thinking that it may just be me being too picky about it...

Dose this work on GT4, and is it any good?I have read heaps of mixed information about this wheel. I have been offered one on the cheap that works fine, but don't want to buy the wheel if its not supported. If this is the case I'll splash out on the DFP Wheel. Any thought and comments much appreciated.

DB:3.55:Logitech Driving Force Ex Wheel For Gt4? ax

The first wheel I bought was Driving Force EX, that I played with GT4. I never bothered to built a frame to use with it, so I just used the lap holder. In my honest opinion, I found it fun enough as I'd never had a force feedback wheel before, but I never really got into it as it was too much hassle to unpack, and the experience it gave was more of a fun gimmick, not very realistic. I never raced with it, just played around!

So I sold it, and went without a wheel, until I bought a PS3 and GT5-P, and recently I bought a G25, and built a proper cockpit for it. I can not even begin to explain the difference in the 2 different wheels. There are other wheels out there however, as PAPO suggested, as the G25, G27 and the porsche wheels are quite expensive. Have you considered saving up and going for a Driving Force GT? The DFGT has 900 degree steering, like the more expensive wheels, (but doesn't have the H patter shifter) and has a more advanced and realistic feel than the cheaper wheels, such as the Driving Force EX.

So, in short, if you only want it as a toy, then get it as it is just that, but if you want something that will change the way you experience GT (for the better, believe me), then you should look into something like a DFGT, or if you have the cash to splash (and expect to build something in order to use it properly) then I can recommend highly a G25 (I havn't tried the Porsche, but I think PAPO has one - and is a humble ( ) fan )

Hi, i'm wondering if anyone can advise me on what i can do about my new driving force steering wheel. After seeing the advert online for the steering wheel i thought it would be grat with the realism etc.

However i have found it too realistic! in the sense that when you are in the f1 car i can't get full lock on the steering by turning half a turn like you do in a real F1 car. As a driver myself it is a known fact that racing cars do NOT have 720 degree steering. there usually less than 360 degrees.

I can understand that this makes it more like you regual car to drive, but is it possible to switch modes? i think this is a serious problem! you dont see lewis hamilton feeding the wheel through his hands! sould i just buy the older steering wheel and have i wasted 120 pounds on this one?

Have you changed any of the settings? If you push start on the main menu, there should be controller settings there where you can pick your wheel, and adjust force feedback.

Also, before you start a race, check that you haven't moved the controller sensitivity slider by mistake (it's at the bottom of the race settings menu)

Last thing to check,Is the wheel calibrating itself when you turn the game on?

This 'speedwobble' certainly doesn't happen with a controller, and simply plugging in a different peripheral shouldn't alter the handling characteristics of any car, particularly that much.

Anyone explain why this should happen?

Wheel wobble is not a car issue, its a game issue caused by the way the physics and FFB have been implemented. Many racing sims do it, not just GT5.

Basically, the weight of the car is moving very, very slightly side to side even when driving in a straight line. The result is a slight pull on the wheel in alternating directions. Let go and you get 'wheel wobble'. On PC this problem can often be reduced or eliminated by modifying the FFB, but that obviously isn't possible here. Instead, try lowering the FFB... and don't let go of the wheel at high speeds.

I have a DFGT set to FFB 1 and I can't feel the wobble at all.

try using the wheel with a x2010 or fgt etc. then take it to track with a straight. i dont feel it on many cars at all but it happens with the above 2 guaranteed, and thats with FFB set to 1

I borrow my friend keyboard and mouse. It works fine in Unreal Tournament 3, but those doesn´t work in COD4 and Bad Company. Is there any way how can I play those wargames with mouse and keyboard.

And my other question is about Logitech wheels. Wich one is better for PS3: Logitech G25 or Driving Force Pro Wheel ? I have heard that both works in PS3 but that Driving Force Pro Wheel have made to PS3. Any good and bad things with wheel?

Recently I purchased an ECCI wheel, from www.ecci.net, that connects to my computer via a USB port. The wheel dumps from the game sometimes during transitions from driving to the, menu, garage, etc, and some problems occur while Iam playing NASCAR RACING 2003 by Papyrus. There wasa different calibration issue with the red momo force wheelmade by logitech and I believe the problem may infact be something to do with theUSB.I called ECCI and they said that it may have to do with the fact that I have USB 2, and that the wheel uses the lower speed, and that when the USB port shifts between the two speeds it causes the wheel to dump. They suggested I disable the USB 2, but I don't know how or if it will help. I have nothing else plugged into my USB ports, and the problem is usually fixed by unplugging and plugging the USB cable. I have tried using different USB ports on my computer, but the same result occurs. Any assistance in understanding this problem or ideas on ways to fix it will be highly appreciated. Feel free to email me at em4joshua@yahoo.com

Only thing that puts me off is having to get it all up and running when I want to play and then having to put it all away after.

By time I got it out I can't be bothered to play lol and having to put it away is just a pain in the back side.

Add £70 to your budget. And buy a wheelstand Pro for your new Driving Force GT wheel. Everytime you wanna play some racing games. Just unfold it and plug it in. Simples.

This wheel should still work, the firmware shouldn't have changed anything in regarding this wheel/controller.

But, if you really are just a casual gamer, and just want to play GT5, I personally would just stick with the DS3. I've played every GT with a controller, and i've never not had fun. A wheel does bring more immersion, hence why I've recently bought one.

So there's a compatibility problem between the PAL versions of Gran Turismo 4 and some Logitech steering wheels (Driving Force, Driving Force EX and 2nd generation GT Force). I've been doing a bit of research on this and in the NTSC version of the game, there's an extra set of buttons in the options menu that allows these wheels to be correctly configured (assign paddles to gear shifts..).

These buttons are missing from my PAL edition of the game, but I was wondering if anyone here owns a "Greatest Hits" or a "Platinum" edition of Gran Turismo 4 and wouldn't mind checking for these missing buttons! If you go to the options menu, in the controllers section, there are buttons to configure the Driving Force Pro wheel (1P and 2P), the GT Force wheel (again, 1P and 2P) and there should be 2 more buttons to configure the 2nd generation GT Force wheel. Could anyone check if they have these 2?

Does somebody alreadyknow solution for that problem? I have Logitech's Wingman force3D joystick and formula force gp steering wheel and I'm already reading information from those control devices andnow I would like to send some (force feedback) information to those devices.

DB:3.25:Force Feedback Joystick And Labview? km

    Hi Teemu,

Like Paul or Sean suggested, using directX, win API, or DLL calls can all provide a solution to your problem.

I would suggest looking at http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/CA411647F224787B86256DD000669EFE?OpenDocumentfor some more information on reading the joystick/gamepad. To send the force feedback, I would suggest trying to find some more information on the driver provided with Logitech device (maybe searching on google forums) and then calling the functions in LV.

If you end up using the dll's then you can use DependencyWalker (not anNI utility) to get the function names in that dll and then probably searching web on those function names.

You are working on a cool application and maybe you are the first one doing it, so do post the solution in the end.

DB:3.19:Patch For Gt5 For Logitech G27 Compatibility jf

Hello. I have a PS3 with the latest update and I'm trying to play GT5 (version 2.01) with my Logitech G27 racing wheel. The force feedback is horrible in the game--it works much better in other games like Shift 2 Unleashed (which, unfortunately, is a horrible driving experience compared to GT5).

I have contacted Logitech customer support regarding the force feedback problem. The problem manifests as over-application of the force feedback. Instead of pushing the wheel back to the center position, the force feedback pushes the wheel PAST center which then causes the force feedback to try to push the wheel back the other way. It continually over-shoots the center and causes the wheel to simply wobble back and forth violently.

I have seen a few other mentions of this problem on the web. Someone even posted a YouTube video showing the same exact problem I experienced. In the comments, he said that he got a new wheel from Logitech and that fixed the problem for him.

I am therefore trying to ask Logitech for a replacement, too, but they are telling me there is some magical downloadable patch for GT5 that will make the G27 work properly. I have no idea what they're talking about--I cannot find any sort of downloadable patch ANYWHERE on the Internet. Nowhere on the official GT website, not on this forum, not even through Google searches.

I'm quite sure that Logitech is simply trying to brush me off and doesn't know what the hell they're talking about but, in an effort to be sure, I'm posting here to see if anyone knows what they're talking about and can point me to the location of this magical patch for the G27 so the force feedback will work correctly in GT5.

    Any ideas?

The only info i can find is that it looks like the is a way to fasten to a desk (i think). i have seen various videos and they all have a fully setup rig with car seat andbig tv right infront as if you are in the car itself... anybody got any info or ideas

    Thanks in advance

This is very true, severe neck or back pain isn't worth the fun.

@raybrig, an ironingboard you say, very inventive, plus now i think about it an ironing board can collapse to sit just above your legs, good find!!

EDIT: after lookin at the wheelstand pro in your link i dont think i'd bother with that, although it looks to be easy to put away after gaming i don't like the looks of the bar which holds up the steering wheel, it may not be so intrusive but i cant see that taking some heavy turning moves and staying stable at the same time!

I think the ironing board beats wheelstand pro easily as there is nothing like stability when using a steering wheel.

ive got a G25 which is basically a refined version of the DFP with extra features. But i tried it recently on F1 and GT5 Prologue.

GT5 Prologue was fine, really good force feedback and really good driving sensation, but F1 on the other hand was diabolical. It was wobbling the G25 from side to side with a lot of force, and the reason is because if you watch the steering wheels on F1 when using the normal control, they wobble from side to side. Real F1 or any other cars for that matter wouldnt do that on a race track. Nearly killed my G25

I've got a T100, using with DriveClub on the PS4, works very well, decent force feedback. It also works with the PS3, tried it with GT6.

I'm hoping it will work with Project Cars on the PS4, that was the main reason for buying the wheel, but then they put the release date back.

    Hi

So I just got my first wheel today and its a Driving Force GT and its great. Now is it normal (IU shouldn't think so) to have the break be insanely sensitive? I barely have to touch it and it goes on. This causes when racing even when my foot is off for it to get stuff on really gently and slows me down!

Im guessing this is a fault and I should replace it, but I wanted to check with you guys. Anyway of changing the pedal sensitivity? Thanks.

    Hi Mr puller,

    1) Does it work before without any issues?
    2) Doesit work fine without nascar 2003?
Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel has no driver for Windows Vista and Windows 7 provided by Microsoft. Therefore, some functions may miss,

very possibly including the problems you encountered.
I suggest you to install the XP driver in compatibility mode and check if it helps.
    Follow these steps:
    1. Right-click on the installation file and select properties.
    2. Now click on the compatibility tab.
    3. Under compatibility mode, check “Run this program in compatibility mode for”.
    4. From the drop down menu, select Windows XP(service pack 2).
    5. Click Apply and then click OK.

I bought myself the wheel designed for GT5 and wow it just totally changed the game for me! I played til about level 20 with my dualshock and then somehow convinced myself to lay out my hard earned cash for a decent race wheel.

The cockpit view really comes to life although the windscreen cam view allows better visibility of the oncoming bends. Took me a while to set up the steering wheel rightto how it is now but I've made it work for me and now I can easily shave 3-4 seconds off any lap I do with the dualshock. I mastered the corner on the corkscrew in laguna seca with it andthat really was a buzz!!

If anyone is considering buying a wheel I'd say this top quality wheel is very good value for money at £80 from Game.

DB:3.09:Using Logitech Driving Force Gt For Nfss 89

    How about a folding wheelstand?

I use the RennSport (accessories not included ), but there are others.

It would allow you to set it aside easier, when not in use.

    Re: G27

It is a good wheel and, depending on the price at which you can get one, is worth the money because of its design. There is no "perfect" wheel for consoles yet, but the good Fanatec and Logitech wheels are getting much better. I use hte G25 and the resolution that you can feel through a better wheel over cheaper wheels is noticeable. The construction, materials and design are better and the pedals are much better.

Why do people ask if the 300 is my car? It's a doubt magnet, for sure.

Nope, it was a weekend rental, but I had to have one in my hands, at least once.

I've taken my wheel settings down to steering assist on for less opposite feedback on the wheel, less force feedback and ameature wheel mode...and I'm still struggling.

I don't know but it seems like there's one whole lot of steering involved (too much rotation on the wheel) and I have a gut feeling I might do better if the wheel locked out at 200 degrees instead of the full 900.

I can do it on the pad (though I'm no expert, I can drift fine) but the wheel is pecking my head.

    ==============

Just moments after Logitech officially announced the new Driving Force GT for PS3, we rushed over to Sony and gave it a spin. An observer casually noted, "isn't it nice to have rumble on the PS3?" We'd have to agree with this sentiment -- but the Driving Force GT offers much more than just rumble.

The wheel feels incredibly sturdy, and offers a surprising amount of resistance when making turns, crashing into walls, and more. The force offered by the wheel rivals those found in arcade cabinets. The wheel makes Gran Turismo 5 feel like a completely different game. Playing in cockpit mode with the controller is incredibly immersive. With wheel in hand, this does feel like the "real driving simulator" that GT promises to be.

While the wheel is impressive, we were a bit underwhelmed by the pedals, which lack the heft that makes the wheel so impressive. The pedals need a bit more resistance to feel a bit more realistic, and need to be heavier, so they don't move forward so much. Regardless, we're impressed by this incredible effort of bringing home an arcade experience. Considering the asking price ($150), Logitech needed to make a high quality peripheral. We think they succeeded.

Hey guys, been a sim racer on the PC for a couple of years (rFactor and LFS) so i like to think i know what i am on about and have to say. OMG at the physics of GT5... dear lord. its incredible.

now as i said, i have experience, and so have a rough idea on what to do with tuning a car. but i've been out of the whole racing thing for a good few months now, (since mid summer really) so off top of my head i cant remember best thing to change to reduce rear tyre wear (of course stop stamping on the gas will help, but because of the problem i will talk about next i am using the controller and its not what i am used to!) so can anyone refresh my memory?

next up, i have the Driving force EX wheel, and i can get it to work with Gran Tursimo as you'd expect, my only problem is that there is no FEEL to the wheel, its just so light, like a Power Steering car on Ice, theres no weight to the wheel and it just generally feels horrible, i'm actually faster on the Controller! =| but i'd love to be able to use it, any ideas to fix that guys?

    thanks,

    Scott.

DB:3.02:Driving Force Ex Problem + Tyre Wear d3

The PC Logitech wheels are different and are not directly support by any GT, not even in the older GT 3 version of its era.

The Formula wheel, if it is the GT3-era wheel, is not an EX, so pick the normal DF wheel. There may be two of them, one with rim buttons and one without. Pick the closest model and try it.

I was racing on the weekend and funnily enough was in the lead when the wheel just full locked to the left and no brakes, no gears, no nothing just rammed me into the wall.

All I did was fight with it and nothing.

So just unplugged it and used the other USB port and it was all fine.

Do you think this is s glitch of a one off thing?

    Thanks,

    Nap

What do we think guys the G25 or 'official gran turismo wheel' the driving force gt with brake bias knobs etc? Thinking of upgrading my vision racer, I always found the driving force wheel to feel more solid, the g25 to me felt a bit sloppy

Hi all, I want to get hold of a Logitech DFP steering wheel for my PS3. Are all the original versions of this wheel sold for the PS2PC fully compatable with the PS3?? I think they were sold under item no 963293-1120
Logitech have changed the item no to 941-000027 on thier website
Is this a newer version of the DFP or the only that works with the PS3?

I have one on a proper gamestand, made by gamepod - I believe it's quite rare now!

If the full gamepod is too big for your room...

...then the gamestand is ideal, it's basically that without the seat, but including the base for your pedals. It's all metal and fabulously sturdy, it's rock solid. You can put it infront of any chair you have, and then put it away!

I don't think they make it anymore - but it cost me a fortune at the time.

I think I'll be selling mine soon, with the new GT wheel I've got mounted on it - just because I'm shot on time and space.

Thats what i've got in black and its fantastic with my driving force pro.
Although cant use it at the mo as i haved moved in with the girl friend and have nowhere to put it
Theres a new GT5 wheel coming out soon or the new G25. Check them out first before spending your money.
