    Hi Marco,

    Sorry for the delayed reply. I looked into this and it doesn't seem like nuget.exe has this ability by itself. Normally this behavior is handled by the integration nuget has with VS via the project system. Since Monaco doesn't currently have a project system,
    we're not able to handle this case for now.

    Cheers,

    It uninstalled from the project correctly. But the packages dlls are not removed from the package installed location.

    We have packaged our common code (we call it as platform code) in nuget packages. We use these nuget packages across our applications and services.

    We have a scenario wherein different projects (csproj) under a cloud project are using different versions of nuget packages. But the way Azure package works it can have only one dll emitted as output in the package.

    E.g : If Proj1.csproj is using xyz nuget package 1.1 and Proj2.csproj is using xyz nuget package 1.2 then when I build the package (cspkg) in the output I see only one dll i.e. 1.2, so the code that is using 1.1 might break.
    How to solve this?

    DB:3.01:Bug: Groupby Null Key. d9

    This one has caught me out really badly.
    I'm running the 2.0.20823 version of Rx using NuGet packages.
    Consider the following code (run in LinqPad):
    (new int?[] { 1, 2, 3, null, 1, 2 })
    .GroupBy(i = i)
    .Select(g = new KeyValuePairint?, int(g.Key, g.Count()))
    .ToArray()
    .Dump();
    Correctly outputs counts of ints (this is a trivial example for simplicity).
    An Rx equivalent:
    (new int?[] { 1, 2, 3, null, 1, 2 }).ToObservable()
    .GroupBy(i = i)
    .SelectMany(async g = new KeyValuePairint?, int(g.Key, await g.Count()))
    .ToArray()
    .Dump();
    Throws an ArgumentNullException, for parameter 'key'. Caused by the GroupBy using a Dictionary internally (and as we all know, or should know) Dictionaries do not accept null as a key...
    I think this is a bug, for the following reasons:
    1. It doesn't demonstrate comparable behaviour with Enumerable.GroupBy - which supports null as a key without issues.
    2. The MSDN documentation for Observable.GroupBy makes no mention of a requirement that the key be non null -http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh229645(v=vs.103).aspx
    Happy to be corrected :)
    I have searched the forums but couldn't find a duplicate - is there somewhere more appropriate to raise this as a bug?

    - die MyTemplate.vsTemplate Datei um WizardExtension und WizardData erweitert
    - auch habe ich versucht die WebApplication.webproj hinzuzufügen (bei der Datei oben noch nicht enthalten)

    Ich habe aber keinen Erfolg, das die NuGet Packages wie gewohnt dem Projekt hinzugefügt werden und die Verweise damit stimmen, wenn aus dem Template ein neues Projekt erstellt wird. Daher würde ich mich über eine Beispieldatei freuen bei der das alles

    It seems that the Visual Studio 2013 git functionality will not abide by the .gitignore file in the repository. It will not ignore files with .cpp or .h extensions. This is a problem because we are using native nuget packages which put files
    with these extensions inside the /packages/ directory inside the solution directory. Visual Studio sees these and wants to add them in the next commit unless I go in and manually exclude them. This is despite the fact that I have a line in my .gitignore
    that is
    packages/
    I also tried adding
    packages/**/*.cpp
    packages/**/*.h
    To see if I could force it, still no luck. The command line git tools behave just fine. Also visual studio correctly ignores other files in packages, it is just the C files that it won't give up.

    Does anyone know why visual studio is doing this? And how I can make it stop. I am concerned because eventually some of our developers are going to forget to check the included files list when doing a commit with visual studio, and we will get
    a bunch of package contents commited to our repositories.

    DB:2.79:Visual Studio 2013 And .Gitignore 1a

    I have the same issue w/out any NuGet packages being involved.
    Plain ol' .gitignore is being ignored. I added a filter to the file (*.dushan). When I check the git repo manually (using Git Bash), that file is (correctly) ignored. But in VS, it's there, and yes it does get committed. If I commit from GitBash, it (correctly)
    gets ignored.
    This shouldn't be... is this a bug? There really shouldn't be a workaround for something so fundamental to git.

    Hi,
    We have 2 projects. 1 is a common library which is just a class library. The purpose of this class library is to be shared by multiple projects. We push this class library to our internal NuGet Server. Currently, the NuGet package version, the assembly version,
    and the assembly file version of this class library is always 1.0.0.0. We don't change it, but in the future we're planning to put a mechanism that would increment the package version, assembly version and assembly file version. However, for now, when we push
    a package to our internal NuGet Server, we basically just overwrite what's already in there.
    The second project is a web site. The web site uses the common library and is referenced as a NuGet package. Both of these projects are currently in development so, we expect changes happening in the common library as well.
    So, here's my questions:

    Is there a way that would automatically download the common library every time I compile my web site project in Visual Studio so I always get the latest changes of our common library? I'm not talking about building the project on a Build Server, because
    that's already working for us. I'm only concerned about getting the latest changes when I compile/build our web site project.Would the package version, assembly version, and assembly file version help in ensuring I get the latest changes of our common library? If so, what's the best strategy for adding version to the NuGet package, assembly, and assembly file?

    At this time when I add a NuGet package to my project using the 'Manage NuGet Packages' option in Visual Studio 2012 (usingthe GUInot the Package Manager Console') the packages get 'installed' in the folder '$SolutionDir\packages'.

    I would like to changethe destination folder for the NuGet packages to a different folder than the default '$SolutionDir\packages'.

    The reason for this is :
    I have various projects that I use in different solutions (for the same application). I have added NuGet packages to this project in say Solution1, if I later try and do a TFS build for Solution2 wich also contains this project the build fails because the
    compiler tries to resolve the project references in 'Solution1\Packages' and NuGet packages are restore at build time at 'Solution2\Packages'. I have resolved that by changing the NuGet.Targets file in the various solutions so that all Solutions have the same
    packages folder, this works great but... here's the catch :
    If I now change or add a package to my project in vs2012 using a right-click on my project and selecting 'Manage NuGet Packages' the new package is again put in the '$Solutiondir\packages' and not in the folder I specified in the NuGet.Targets, appearently

    In looking at the source code, it seems like this might be easy if it were possible to inject a subclass of the Endpoint object (on both the Phone and Azure sides), but I don't see any way to do that.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Bill

    DB:2.75:Add A Location Parameter To Phone/Azure Notification Nuget Packages 31

    I got a response from Azure support, basically:

    There is no way to inject a custom Endpoint object, but the source code is available, so you can modify it to do what you want.

    I am very impressed that the Azure Technical Support Engineer found the source code, investigated the issue, suggested the appropriate solution, and sent the source code to me. The code is available here:
    https://github.com/WindowsAzure-Toolkits/wa-toolkit-wp-nugets

    Not exactly the elegant answer I was hoping for, but pretty easy implementation anyway (seems to me the Azure dev team was a couple hours of effort away from providing a very elegant solution to this common scenario).

    The solution is to provide an extended Endpoint class on both the Phone and Azure sides. Once you do that, everything else is pretty automatic.

    On the Phone side, only one assembly needs to be customized.

    Phone.Notifications

    I modified the Endpoint class to add my location parameter, in my case called Spot.

    public class Endpoint
    {
    public string ChannelUri { get; set; }
    public string ApplicationId { get; set; }
    public string DeviceId { get; set; }
    public string Spot { get; set; }
    }

    In addition, the Spot value needs to be set just before communicating with the registration service (you could alternatively do it in PushContextBaseInitializer.PreStart if the location value never changes within a application session).

    To set the parameter, I made two changes:

    PushClient.Connect

    public void Connect(ActionPushRegistrationResponse callback, string spot)
    {
    // ...
    var endpoint = new Endpoint
    {
    ApplicationId = this.applicationId,
    DeviceId = this.deviceId,
    ChannelUri = c.ChannelUri.ToString(),
    Spot = spot
    };

    this.PutEndpoint(endpoint, callback);
    });
    }

    and the corresponding call in NotificationsPageViewModel.Connect

    public void Connect()
    {
    //...
    this.pushUserRegistrationClient.Connect(
    //...
    , App.ViewModel.UserState.HomeSpot);
    //...
    }

    On the Azure side, two changes are required in the Endpoint class, which is in the
    CloudServices.Notifications.Common assembly. That's it!

    public class Endpoint
    {
    public virtual string ApplicationId { get; set; }

    //...

    public string Spot { get; set; }

    public static T ToT(Endpoint endpoint) where T : Endpoint
    {
    //...
    destination.Spot = endpoint.Spot;

    return destination;
    }
    }

    However, two other assemblies reference Endpoint, so must be included in your solution and recompiled. These are
    CloudServices.Notifications and CloudServices.Notifications.WindowsAzure.

    Once you get the projects loaded and references to already-downloaded NuGet package assemblies resolved, only a few keystrokes are required and it works perfectly.

    Note: I am using Table storage, which extends the schema automatically to handle the new field; I don't know if additional schema changes are required when using SQL storage.

    I would like the ability to extend MSBuild at the project or solution level with tasks that can be installed as NuGet packages. In other words, instead of:

    DB:2.73:Extending Msbuild With Nuget... A Feature Request For V.Next c1

    This is a risky suggestion. Potentially, the build will get a newer version of the package than is being used by the developers. This can lead to broken builds and incompatabilities. A better solution is to have a developer NuGet the package, then put the
    assemblies in a ThirdParty or Library folder that is part of the project and checked into your version control system.
    If you place the MSBuld extensions also as library files in the project and check them in, each developer will not need to install them. Just get the latest version of the source and they have what they need.Craig Berntson

    Some of nugetpackages need to participate in the build in order to work properly. If you use this feature,it would be better to keepthefolder in versioncontrol.You can refer to

    DB:2.62:Release Notes For Microsoft.Data.Odata 5.6.3? x1

    Hi,
    We just tried to update nuget packages Microsoft.Data.OData (and related packages) from 5.6.1 to 5.6.3 and our WCF Data Services stopped working. We started getting exceptions like this;
    message: Unable to create a constant value of type 'System.Data.Services.Internal.ProjectedWrapper2'.
    Only primitive types ('such as Int32, String, and Guid') are supported in this context.
    I tried to find some release notes for 5.6.3 but all I could find was the very
    sparse information on the nuget site. Are there any known breaking changes in the October 21st release? Where can I find out how to fix this?

    DB:2.62:Release Notes For Microsoft.Data.Odata 5.6.3? x1

    Hello kjetilk,
    According to your description, I made a test with the newest odatalib in WCF Data Service project, however, both with EF5 and EF6, the project could still work as except even upgrading to 5.6.3. Since I do not know what operation you do causes this error,
    I just simply query the service in a web browser as:
    http://localhost:38176/WcfDataService1.svc/Orders
    The detail test environment is:
    VS2013, Windows 8.1, .NET 4.5, Odatalib 5.6.3 and Entity Framework 5/6.
    Is it right to reproduce this issue? If not, please provide a detail description about how you would encounter it and your detail environment that would help narrow down this issue.
    Are there any known breaking changes in the October 21st release?
    The detail information seems to be just under the installed command:
    New Features:
    1. ODataLib now supports reading and writing undeclared primitive type properties into ODataEntry/ODataComplexValue.

    2. Add dlls which target .NET Portable Lib with support for .net 4.5, Win Phone 8, Win Phone 8.1, and Win 8 into NuGet packages

    DB:2.62:All Projects Referencing Sub-Project Must Install Nuget Package Microsoft.Bcl.Build 37

    I'm having a particularly difficult refactoring session involving a C# solution with multiple projects in Visual Studio 2012. I needed to pull out a bunch of code into their own assemblies so that code could be shared across several projects, all in the same
    solution. However, no matter what I try, I get warnings for the projects that reference the new shared projects that All projects referencing {shared project name} must install nuget package Microsoft.Bcl.Build.

    I have been over the dependent projects and the shared projects with a fine-tooth comb, verifying in detail that they all use the same version and exact same DLL for the Microsoft.Bcl version 1.0.1.19 and Microsoft.Bcl.Async version 1.0.16 packages:

    System.Runtime

    System.Threading.Tasks

    Microsoft.Threading.Task

    Microsoft.Threading.Tasks.Extensions
    Microsoft.Threading.Tasks.Extensions.Phone

    The DLL paths are all resolved and identical. The XAP file does build but I still get that warning telling me that Microsoft.Bcl.Build is not referenced in the dependent projects, despite the fact that I can see that it is.

    If I try instead to uninstall and then reinstall those two packages using NuGet for each project involved, I get references with empty paths and the warning icon for the 5 DLL references involved. For some reason NuGet adds the references but can't find the
    DLLs. Also, if I do this, I find myself with the problem frequently of having projects where I get the Can't add reference error when trying to add a reference. Then I have close and re-open the solution, and that leads to a project failed
    to load error. So I have to edit the project file manually, remove the faulty package import statements, and reload the project.

    How can I fix this problem and what is the general technique for avoiding this headache in the future? Letting NuGet manage missing packages didn't help at all.

    -- roschler

    DB:2.62:All Projects Referencing Sub-Project Must Install Nuget Package Microsoft.Bcl.Build 37

    Do the HintPath elements in your project files point where they should? Are the files actually there?
    I had some really odd behavior a while back that I finally tracked down to some global NuGet options that I had inadvertently set when mucking with the command line tool.
    http://docs.nuget.org/docs/reference/nuget-config-file

    I'm no NuGet expert but... I have found that making the Microsoft.Bcl.Build conditional makes dealing with this stuff easier since it allows the project to load despite a missing package, which allows NuGet to fetch any missing packages. Otherwise,
    one can use the command line NuGet.exe to fetch any missing packages before loading the solution.
    Import Project=..\..\packages\Microsoft.Bcl.Build.1.0.5\tools\Microsoft.Bcl.Build.targets Condition=Exists('..\..\.nuget\packages\Microsoft.Bcl.Build.1.0.5\tools\Microsoft.Bcl.Build.targets') /

    Right-clicking the solution and selecting Enable NuGet Package Restore can also be helpful (there is also a VS configuration option for the Package Managerunder Tools - Options - Package Manager - General).

    After watching the key note address from Scott Gu at AspConf I got excited about trying the Windows Azure Web sites with MVC4. I tried deploying an existing MVC application after re-configuring it to target .NET framework 4.0 instead of 4.5 and got the following
    error.

    Could not load type 'System.Runtime.CompilerServices.ExtensionAttribute' from assembly 'mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.

    Since I had already added several NuGet packages I thought it might have something to do with Ninject so I created a new MVC project targeting the .NET 4.0 framework with no NuGet packages and deployed to Windows Azure using the Visual Studio 2012 RC Publish

    Hey,
    I've had a bit of a break in developing for WP. I recently started up again and installed a fresh copy of Visual Studio Express 2013 for Windows (v 12.0.30324.00 Update 2 RC).
    I have upgraded an app that was previously published for WP7. Most things seem to work, apart from Nuget - whenever i try to install packages it seems to be pre-filtering to the Desktop packages rather than the phone ones.
    For example, i'm trying to install Ad Duplex (from cmd Install-Package AdDuplexWP8) and it can't find the package, but using the Package Manager it offers me the one for Windows 8.
    Has anyone else had this problem? in parallel i'm also developing a Windows8 app, so i'd expect Nuget to be able to switch between the two different project types...
    thanks,

    DB:2.57:Tfs Keeps Adding My Nuget Packages jd

    Hello,
    I have a few projects using numerous NuGet packages and these projects are source controlled on TFS. Whenever the packages are restored, they are automatically readded to source control.
    I am using Visual Studio 2013 Update 3 and TFS 2013 with local workspaces and my NuGet version is 2.8.50313.46.
    I am apparently not the only one to have this issue. Quite an amount of people have been asking this on StackOverflow but none of them were able to solve this issue. I tried the .tfignore in solution folder with '/packages' exclusion but it did not work
    either. So I am now asking for help here because sooner or later, someone is gonna checkin those files!
    Thanks.

    DB:2.57:Universal Apps Not Compatible With Many Existing Nuget Packages? m9

    The new universal app projects do not seem to support many existing NuGet packages. The specific one that I tried was the Azure Mobile Services .NET Backend. One of the packages it depends on is the ASP.NET Identity Core package, which complains that it
    requires .NET 4.5, but my project targets 4.5.1. I don't see a way to change the .NET version that my app targets. I'm assuming that Universal apps are currently hardcoded to use .NET 4.5.1, but I would expect a NuGet package that uses 4.5 to work with 4.5.1
    anyways
    It's probably obvious, but I am using Visual Studio 2013 Update 2.

    DB:2.57:Universal Apps Not Compatible With Many Existing Nuget Packages? m9

    Hi,
    Thank you for your response.
    Yes, I also find that there is no option used to change the .Net Framework version in application Properties page like other C# projects. For this, you could submit this feature request:
    http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio
    The Visual Studio product team is listening to user voice there. You can send your ideas/suggestions there and people can vote.Maybe this feature will be added in next release.
    As for the issue: Universal Apps Not Compatible With Many Existing NuGet Packages, it is more related to development, I suggest opening a new thread on corresponding forums based on the type of
    the application which you apply NuGet packages.
    If you use NuGet packages with Windows Phones app in the universal app, then please consult on Tools for Windows Phone development forum like this thread:

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/300c5dbc-0de5-4dcd-884a-d3d8cf5c3af2/universal-project-manage-nuget-packages-on-shared-node?forum=wptools

    If you use NuGet packages with Windows Store app, then please consult on Tools for Windows Store apps:

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsapps/en-US/home?forum=toolsforwinapps for better support.
    Actually VS General Question forum mainly discusses the usage of Visual Studio IDE such as

    We have a provider hosted app. The provider web is a Web API 2.0 project that we are trying to deploy to azure using a git based deploy. We're having a problem where the SharePoint Client dll can not be resolved. We have addedAppForSharePointWebToolkit
    version 3.0.1 through NuGet. Even after installing though, the reference is loading using the extension rather than using NuGet.
    Looking at the project file there is no HintPath for the SharePoint entry in the project. If I manually edit the project to add a hintpath pointing to the dlls under ..\packages, the missing SharePoint reference messages go away. Changing this manually though
    seems to be asking for trouble.
    Additionally IdentityModel.Extensions.dll is missing. It picks it up locally from the Extension copies it to the compiled output path but it is not available in the packages anywhere (which makes it unavailable to azure).

    DB:2.55:Azure Deployment From Bitbucket Failed - How To Do Nuget Package Restore On Azure cs

    I am trying to deploy a basic out of the box MVC5 application to Windows Azure using a Bitbucket repository. The application works well locally (it is a just the out of the box default MVC5 template application).

    So I created a Bitbucket repository and checked in my code. I have enabled NuGet package restore and have not checked in any Nuget Packages dlls into Bitbucket.

    Then I configured continuous deployment with BitBucket by associating azure with bitbucket. The deployment is failing because it cannot find the dlls corresponding to the nuget packages that I have used in the project.

    How do I tell Azure to restore Nuget dlls that my project is using? Or do I have to always checkin Nuget Dlls into Bitbucket?

    I think I am missing a setting to tell Azure to go ahead and get all my Nuget dlls.

    Glad that worked! Yes, it's nice to be able to keep all NuGet packages out of the repo, and have it all work without needing to hack to csproj/sln at all.

    DB:2.55:Tfs Looking For Files That Do Not Exist 83

    I'm trying to check-in a new project to my cloud TFS repository but I'm getting an error saying multiple files could not be found. These files are mostly Nuget packages and also a couple of previously deleted Publish Profiles.
    These Nuget packages do not exist in the solutions packages folder and I can't find a reference to them anywhere. How does TFS know what Nuget packages the solution needs? I've deleted all Nuget packages in the packages folder and restored the ones my projects
    use using the Package Manager, yet still TFS complains that some packages are missing. These packages were previously installed but have since been uninstalled, or newer versions installed.
    Again, the packages that can't be found are not referenced in the package.config of any project in my solution.
    A temporary fix is to 'exclude' these files from the check-in, but this is a long process and I'd have to do it on every check-in. Not ideal.
    So how do I rid my solution of references to these files in order to check-in my project??
    Thanks in advance

    Thank you.

    What do the compile warnings say? Check the properties on the references.
    The packages element error message is normal don't worry about it.
    If this is the problem, then you can't use the FsCheck NuGet package, sorry. Download the FsCheck source for 0.9.0.1 below and compile it using F# 2.0, then reference that. Or upgrade to F# 3.0/VS 2012...

    I understand that TFS 2013 will have a new build template with a restorenugetpackages property (seehere). However, not sure
    when we will upgrade from TFS2012 to 2013. Can I modify the default build template in TFS2012 to do something similar (restore nuget packages for the solution)? If so, how do I do this?

    DB:2.50:Modify Tfs 2012 Default Template For Nuget Solution Restore? kf

    Hi Scott,
    Do you contain any custom build activities inthe TFS2012 build process templates? If not, after you upgrade TFS 2012 to TFS 2013, you can just download and use the TFS2013 build template to use the Package Restore workflow.
    If you still have to work with legacy TFS2012 build process template, take a look at this article for the details:http://docs.nuget.org/docs/reference/package-restore-with-team-build

    HI I am trying to run a TFS automated build and I am getting the following error in one of the projects
    The command ..\..\Tools\NuGet Install ..\Packages.config -o ..\..\Packages exited with code 3. [C:\...\...\XYZ.vbproj]
    I have tried adding a target like below
    Target Name=Build
    Exec Command=$(BuildPath)/../../../Tools/Nuget.exe Install $(BuildPath)/../../.../packages.config -o $(BuildPath)/../../Packages /
    /Target
    but that's not working.I dont know that target is even called from the TFSBuild.proj file. when i call the target from cmd prompt i get this msg
    All packages listed in packages.config are already installed.
    I dont know what exited with code 3 actually means and what i need to fix. Any suggestions?

    Hello
    For some reason I can't install packages Windows.Azure.Storage, Windows.Azure.Storage-preview or SystemSpatial via NuGet.
    I'm getting following error:

    Could not install package 'System.Spatial 5.2.0'. You are trying to install this package into a project that targets 'Silverlight,Version=v4.0,Profile=WindowsPhone71', but the package does not contain any assembly references or content files that are compatible
    with that framework. For more information, contact the package author.

    Same packages could be installed in empty project for WP8 and couldn't into WP7 project.
    NuGet is updated to the latest version.

    How can I install Windows.Azure.Storage in my project?

    DB:2.50:Installing Windows.Azure.Storage And Systemspatial For Wp7.1 In Vs 2012 Update 4 f3

    You could still use
    Windows Azure Storage REST API directly in your WP7 app. If you need to upload files from WP7 to Blob Storage, you may want to look into Shared Access Signature (SAS). Once you have a valid SAS URI, it would be a simple HttpWebRequest/HttpWebResponse call
    from your WP7 App.

    DB:2.50:What Are Required Assemblies For Entity Framework 4.1 And Sql Compact? z7

    Hi,
    Previously I used Entity Framework 4.0 CTP5 (code-first) and SQL Compact in my projects. I had the followingpackages installed using NuGet:
    1. SQLCE.4.0.8435.1(version 4.0.8435.1)
    2.EFCodeFirst 0.8 (version4.0.30319.0)
    3.EFCodeFirst.SqlServerCompact.0.8 (version 4.0.8435.1)

    Now when
    EF 4.1 RC is published, I want to update all my libraries to the latest version. NuGet feed doesn't contain any updates forSQLCE.4.0.8435.1 anymore, but it has a new package 'SqlServerCompact
    - 4.0.8482.1' (new package, not a new version of existing package). Presume, that it was just renamed and I should install it. Is it right? Presume, yes.
    NuGet also doesn't contain any updates for 'EFCodeFirst' and 'EFCodeFirst.SqlServerCompact' packages. But it has a new 'EntityFramework 4.1.10311.0' package.
    So what should I install? Are'EntityFramework 4.1.10311.0' and'SqlServerCompact - 4.0.8482.1' enough for using EF code
    first with SQL Compact?

    DB:2.50:What Are Required Assemblies For Entity Framework 4.1 And Sql Compact? z7

    Mvermef,

    SQL Compact 4.0 is certainly supported by the EF 4.1 runtime. However, I did some research into this and it appears that EF designer does
    not work with SQL Compact 4.0 in Windows projects. This is a known issue that the tools team is looking into, but since the designer is not part of the EF 4.1 release it is unlikely that this will be fixed for EF 4.1 RTM. The only workarounds I know of for
    now are to use Code First or to use a different database.

    DB:2.49:Visual Studio Restoration Of Nuget Packages Through Tfs dm

    Today I ran in to a problem that took me a little while to figure out because of my apparent misunderstanding of how theEnable
    NuGet Package Restoreworked within source controlled projects in TFS. So to start out with let me explain the issues that I have spent the last week or so troubleshooting.

    On our TFS server, I created a build definition for continuous integration. When the source code is checked-in, the build server begins compiling the source and then fails due to not being able to fetch NuGet packages. I thought initially that it was due toEnable
    NuGet Package Restorebeing disabled, so I switched it on at the solution level and re-committed my code. The builds continued to fail. Without having admin access to the Virtualized Instance of the build server, and the admin being swamped lately
    I let moved on and decided I'd deal with it in a couple of weeks when my Sprint and his Sprint lightens up. Getting the build server up and running is not a must at the moment. I did however remove my local mapping to the branch in TFS, delete the local directory,
    re-map the source code and perform a fresh get and re-compiled the source without any problems. The NuGet packages downloaded just fine.

    Today however we had a new-hire join the team. He pulled a fresh copy from TFS and encountered someSlowCheetah(for
    transforming our WPF App Configs) NuGet failures. We spent a good chunk of time today trying to figure out why his wasn't pulling down the files properly. After a little while, I right clicked on his solution and noticed that theEnable
    NuGet package Restoreoption was available. Even though on my solution, I had enabled it, his solution did not have it set up. I enabled it and immediately his solution compiled without error.

    So now down to the primary question, if I enable the solution to restore packages why do I have to re-enable it on another box? I was under the assumption that by making sureAllow
    NuGet to download missing packages during buildoption is enabled in settings on all of the boxes, Visual Studio would automatically download the NuGet packages missing from my TFS source code. This confuses me and I would appreciate some clarity
    on how NuGet should work (and be restored) when packages are used in a project stored in TFS. We are not including any of the packages with our TFS check-ins because I though this feature was supposed to automatically work for the project.

    Lastly, I am wondering if this is why my build server is failing to run my build definition. I am getting the NuGet errors and am not sure how to tell the build definition to download the NuGet packages. Is this something I need to do by modifying the build
    template, adding a sequence to download NuGet packages prior to running MSBuild or something?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Johnathon,
    Thanks for your post.
    What’s the version or your TFS and VS?
    As we know that TFS invoke MSBuild to build solution on build agent machine. So please mapping your solution from TFS Source Control to the local path on your build agent machine, then open it using VS and try to build it using VS on your build
    agent machine, ensure your solution can be built successfully using VS on your build agent machine.
    To build solution using Team Build, we should ensure the following steps:

    The solution can be built completely on Build machine using VS.The solution can be built completely on Build machine using MSBuild command.

    Hi,
    I have VS 2012 installed in my machine, now I have also installed VS2013 for a new project. When using Entity Framework template I am getting the following errors,

    I have checked the environment variable setting in Advanced System Settings and it is set to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\Tools\
    When checked C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\ folder I found there is no 'Tools' and 'Packages' folders, also the 'IDE' folder does not have dlls that 11.0 contains. Does that mean I have corrupt VS2013 installation??
    I installed the EF6.1 by downloading it from MS not from Nuget Manager as I was unable to find it in Nuget. Also installed DevExpress for my work but all of these seems to ended up in 11.0 folder (I suspect this could be causing my error). Could you suggest
    a solution for this??

    Hi
    I am using Visual studio 2013 with NuGet. As a part of project I want to create NuGet package which should be copy/publish to network shared drive. I am publishing both regular package and symbol package. But when I try to debug this assembly
    it is not loading symbol package for debug purpose. Am I missing any thing.
    Following steps I am performing
    1) Build Assembly MyAssembly.dll using VS2013
    2) On Build I am using
    NuGet Pack $(ProjectDir)$(ProjectFileName) -Prop Configuration=Release -Symbols -OutputDirectory $(SolutionDir)OutputPackages

    to pack this assembly as part of package
    3) Now I want to publish both these packages to Network share drive. When I use NuGet Push command it is giving error.
    So is it possible NuGet Push is not designed to push on network shared drive ???
    So I am using Xcopy to copy these packages to copy to network shared drive
    xcopy /D /C /R /Y $(SolutionDir)OutputPackages\MyAssembly.1.0.0.0.nupkg
    \\SharedPC1\NuGet\lib
    xcopy /D /C /R /Y $(SolutionDir)OutputPackages\MyAssembly.1.0.0.0.symbols.nupkg
    \\SharedPC1NuGet\pdb\public\lib\

    4) Now when I install MyAssembly.1.0.0.0.nupkg in another package I was expecting to load symbols during debug.

    So am I missing any thing

    My experience is that debugging NuGet packages that are also published to SymbolSource.org is very simple and has a much higher success rate than, for instance, trying to get .NET Framework source stepping to work in the debugger. (Don't get me started on

    I have two questions about where Monaco is and is going in it's development:
    (1) Is there someplace on the Web now that we can see the actual differences between the features of desktop VS (Express for example) and Monaco?
    (2) Have you published a roadmap for Monaco that we can inspect (or a blog or video of a team member discussing where the project is going)? ... I can only assume that you eventually want Monaco to be a fully featured SaaS VS IDE (or least in the short-term
    to be able to publish to VM's and Cloud Services even if it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of desktop VS). When do you think you'll have a version that can manage (and WebDeploy) .NET projects?

    I noted from a previous answer (to Extracting nuget packages correctly) that Monaco is a code editor only for Azure Websites and doesn't have the .NET Web Application project capabilities of desktop VS [i.e., it can't WebDeploy to VM's or Cloud
    Services (yet?)].

    DB:2.46:Roslyn.Services.Editor Is Not In Nuget fj

    Hi,
    I've been going through the NuGet packages for Roslyn (here) and I've been unable to locate the editor services dll file. Is there a reason for this? If I had to guess at one it would be
    that Roslyn needs to be installed for VS to use it.
    Regards,
    Matthew

    DB:2.46:Integrating Visual Studio Extension Gallery With Nuget Gallery j9

    Why not?
    Why doesn't MS leverage the NuGet Package Gallery to publish extensions as NuGet packages?

    Get rid of VS Extension Gallery. Half the time the extensions fail to install because of some dependency issue. NuGet Package Gallery will gather and install all the package dependencies for you.
    I also believe, the Windows Market place and the SharePoint 2013 App Store can both leverage the NuGet package gallery in someway in the future. In other words, there is an overlap between NuGet Package gallery functionality and the other stores. :)
