The infamous SSPI Failed error strikes again!
A common reason for this error is, when the client time differs more then 5 minutes from server time, then the server treat as untrusted and you get a SSPI handshake error.Olaf Helper

DB:2.82:Sslexception While Handshaking: Peer Sent Alert: Alert Fatal: Decrypt Error x9

    Hello everybody,

I am tryining to establish a connection from SAP PI 7.0 to an external web service that requires SSL with client authentication. I am using the SOAP adapter for that. The private key of us and the public key of the web service were installed in the VA in the TrustedCAs view. In the corresponding receiver channel configuration I have ticked "Configure Certificate Authetication" and selected appropriate entries in "Keystore Entry" and "Keystore View".

Whenever I send a message through the channel I am getting though an error during the SSL handshake: Decrypt error.

Below is the SSL debug log

    ssl_debug(15): Sending v3 client_hello message to services.bloomberg.com:443, requesting version 3.1...

    ssl_debug(15): Received v3 server_hello handshake message.

ssl_debug(15): Server selected SSL version 3.1.

ssl_debug(15): Server created new session 81:ED:F8:61:3B:51:8E:70...

ssl_debug(15): CipherSuite selected by server: TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA

ssl_debug(15): CompressionMethod selected by server: NULL

ssl_debug(15): Server does not supports secure renegotiation.

ssl_debug(15): Received certificate handshake message with server certificate.

ssl_debug(15): Server sent a 2048 bit RSA certificate, chain has 3 elements.

ssl_debug(15): ChainVerifier: No trusted certificate found, OK anyway.

    ssl_debug(15): Received certificate_request handshake message.

ssl_debug(15): Accepted certificate types: RSA, DSA

    ssl_debug(15): Accepted certificate authorities:

    ssl_debug(15): CN=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    ssl_debug(15): CN=VeriSign Class 3 International Server CA - G3,OU=Terms of use at https://www.verisign.com/rpa (c)10,OU=VeriSign Trust Network,O=VeriSign, Inc.,C=US

    ssl_debug(15): CN=VeriSign Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority - G5,OU=(c) 2006 VeriSign, Inc. - For authorized use only,OU=VeriSign Trust Network,O=VeriSign, Inc.,C=US

    ssl_debug(15): Received server_hello_done handshake message.

ssl_debug(15): Sending certificate handshake message with RSA client certificate...

    ssl_debug(15): Sending client_key_exchange handshake...

    ssl_debug(15): Sending certificate_verify handshake message...

    ssl_debug(15): Sending change_cipher_spec message...

    ssl_debug(15): Sending finished message...

ssl_debug(15): Received alert message: Alert Fatal: decrypt error

ssl_debug(15): SSLException while handshaking: Peer sent alert: Alert Fatal: decrypt error

    ssl_debug(15): Shutting down SSL layer...

My first assumption was that it might be caused by missing public key of other side's server in the TrustedCAs view. Now I have assured that we have this key installed (although I am currious why there is still the "ChainVerifier: No trusted certificate found" message in the log).

Does somebody have an idea what could cause this SSL handshake failure?

    Best regards,

    Maxim

    Hi,

I am calling a sap gateway service form UI5 application. The service is coming from one of the internal sap systems.

    Its actually an https link.

    1. Initially i was facing 'same origin policy' issue.

    2. To resolve that I checked UI5 documentation then maintained 'Simple Proxy servlet' settings in my web.xml file.

    3. After adding those settings I was facing 'SSL handshake failure' error.

    4. To resolve that I exported a CA certificate from SAP system and imported it into java keystore.

    5. But still I am facing the SSL handshake issue.

Our mobile application connects to a service that only supports the TLS_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA cipher for HTTPS (via TLS). We get a handshake error and then an IOError when doing an HTTPS request (via URLLoader). It took a while to track down, but I sniffed the traffic in WireShark and it came down to a handshake failure. TLS_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA is not a cipher that is supported. A lot of people recently updated the ciphers they support for HTTPS to be more restrictive after POODLE..

Is it possible to add this cipher? Also, I think IOError is a really terrible error in general. I think the error should have been an HTTPS handshake error. IOError comes up way too often with no description.

how we can check the SPN configured properly or not?

    Hi MSDN_12345,
According to your description, the error occurs when you create an ODBC connection from an application server to the SQL Server by using windows Authentication. If you want to check if the SPN for the SQL Server service account has been configured properly,
you can perform the following command in CMD for ensuring correct SPNs registered to the SQL Server.

    SETPSPN – L Servername
There is a similar issue about SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c. You can review the following article.
    http://dusk1911.wordpress.com/2011/07/18/sql-2008r2-sspi-handshake-failed-with-error-code-0x8009030c/

DB:2.69:Soap, Ssl And No Oracle Wallet 7z

Problems with a webservice over SSL.

We are making APIs for a health-insurance portal. These APIs are going to be avaible as a webservice and are implemented with JAVA.

As webservice we are using the Oracle SOAP implementation(OC4J/JDEV). The SSL-connection is build with the JSSE-classes.

Because the webservice are also going to be used by client made with other technologies than JAVA, the keystore and trusstores must be stored in an standard way, we use PKCS#12. Therefore we do not want to use the Oracle Wallet.

To let the client use a keystore, a trust store is defined before making connection to the server. When the webservice is called, the next error occurs:

    java.lang.Exception: InfomedicsClient.getFileStatus, error while calling the proxy : javax.net.ssl.SSLException: SSL handshake failed: X509CertChainIncompleteErr [java.io.IOException]
    im.proxy.im_InfomedicsTypesFileStatus[] im.client.InfomedicsClient.getFileStatus(java.lang.String, java.lang.String, java.lang.String)
    void TestClient.main(java.lang.String[])

We have already tried the following three options for using a thrust store:
-defined the trustStorelocation in a systemproperty:
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore","D:\\JAVASDKS\\SDK1.3.1_03\\jre\\lib\\security\\jssecacerts");

-put the file lib/security/jssecacerts in the Java.home
-put the file lib/security/cacerts in the Java.home

    But all didnt work

The cause of this is probely the fact, that the Oracle Soap implementation makes a wallet if none is available and then uses this wallet to execute the handshake.(see HTTPCLIENT.HTTPCONNECTION.getSSLSocket).
Therefore our truststore is not used.

Is there a way to use the Oracle Soap implementation with JSSE and the JSSE-way of storing trusstores and keystores?

    Hi,
I am having some trouble with my SharePoint database server this time. SharePoint Server 2010 is running on Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 is running on Windows Server 2008 R2 as SharePoint database also. SharePoint users are authenticated through

Could somebody help me to resolve this error?

DB:2.68:Soap-Env:Ioexception; Msg=Ssl Handshake Failed: Sslprotocolerr pf

Getting following error while invoking webservice over ssl.

    "SOAP-ENV:IOException; msg=SSL handshake failed: SSLProtocolErr"

We generated webservice java stub using JDeveloper based on wsdl provided to us from 3rd party. We are able to test this webservice successfully without ssl . Once ssl is enabled by the 3rd party webservice provider we faced
"java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no njssl9 in java.library.path" error in JDeveloper.

In JDeveloper we were able to resolve this by following details provided at
Lehmann's web log on "Securing a Web Service - Client SSL" (http://radio.weblogs.com/0132036/2004/02/13.html ).

We then run the same java stub from oracle application server 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2. This is when we get error

    "SOAP-ENV:IOException; msg=SSL handshake failed: SSLProtocolErr"

Debugging further we see that in 9iAS we have following in our class path.
    ..iAS/jlib/jssl-1_1.jar:..iAS/jlib/javax-ssl-1_1.jar:..iAS/soap/webapps/soap/WEB-INF/lib/soap.jar

we took the same files and added to libraries in JDeveloper and are able to reproduce the same error in JDeveloper. We turned on Debug on oracle.jssl.debug and with that we see following details

    instantiate the hashtable
    SocketTable write Enter fdin 1
SocketTable write offset 0 length 72
    SocketTable write: 72 bytes
    SocketTable read Enter
    SocketTable read: 1 bytes
    SocketTable read Enter
    SocketTable read: 2 bytes
    SSLSocketImpl close Thread:main
In close removing fd 1Thread main
[SOAPException: faultCode=SOAP-ENV:IOException; msg=SSL handshake failed: SSLProtocolErr...

Any suggestions on how to resolve this error in oracle application server 9iAS ?

Note: We run Oracle E-Business Suite on this same 9iAS so any change we make should not impact the oracle applications running on this server.

DB:2.68:Soap-Env:Ioexception; Msg=Ssl Handshake Failed: Sslprotocolerr pf

This OTN document is an excellent source for deploying and invoking webservices.

Unfortunately we are limited to Oracle9iJDeveloper (version 9.0.3.5) and application server 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2. Any ideas on how to get this going with our versions?

DB:2.68:Login Failed. The Login Is From An Untrusted Domain And Cannot Be Used With Windows Authentication. zd

    Hello,
I have gone through couple of posts regarding this issue but couldn't get the right solution. Could you please help what exactly we are missing here.
    Details:
    1) we have two SQL instances on one standalone machine (Default Instance (2008 SP3) Named Instance (SQL 2012 SP1))
    2) Both instances are configured to accept SQL Windows authentication.
    3) when we give access to our users they are getting following exception if they connect with 'windows authentication'. (For both instances)
Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication.
Note:(Being a sys windows admin I'm able to connect both the instances from same client machine without
    any issues)
    4) Also, we observed following error in windows application event log,
SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c, state 14 while establishing a connection with integrated security; the connection has been closed. Reason: AcceptSecurityContext failed. The Windows error code indicates the cause of failure.
The logon attempt failed [CLIENT: 192.168.xxx.xyx]
    5) If we create SQL login it is working fine without any issues.
Could someone guide/help me identifying and fixing this issue.

    Thank you

DB:2.68:Login Failed. The Login Is From An Untrusted Domain And Cannot Be Used With Windows Authentication. zd

We have found the solution for this issue. At server/host level the user group is not added as part of following,
Local Security Policies - User Rights Assignment - Access this computer from the network.
Once we added the user group here all logins were successful without any issues.
    Thank you for your help.

DB:2.68:Exception While Trying To Consume Moss Web Service 7a

    Hi

I am trying to Concume the Microsoft Share Point Search Query WebService using Spring(Java) .

I developed a sample Webservice client using Spring and Axis generated proxies for Sharepoint Search Query service.

I am getting the following exception when i try to deploy the application in weblogic server 9.2 version.

I have checked couple of forums , which actually says to add the certificates to the DemotrustKey Store in weblogic server. I am not exactly sure about the stpes to actually configure the certficate in the Weblogic Server. Any help in regards to this is greatly appreciated.

You need to use sun keytool to update keystore. Well I don't have exact steps for you, however following SSL pages from WebLogic documentation will help you to get started.

Do your security policies work when you access the page over non-ssl port with
the non-certificate-based authentication? Make sure they are working, then configure
WL to use certificate based authentication, and try to access the page over two-way
ssl using the certificate. IdentityAsserter should map your certificate to a WL
user according to the rule you specified. After that everything should work the
same way as with the usual login.

This page lists configuration steps for different types of user authentication:

You were able to connect to the server over 2-way ssl, because the server

See documentation about the IdentityAsserter on this.
When using the default demo SSL configuration the server trusts theweblogic
    Demo

I.e. the browser did not send the identity certificate. If you areusing
    IExplorer
you will need to import an identity certificate/private key in pkcs12
    format.
You could use weblogic utils.CertGen tool to generate a certificate/key
    files,
and then use openssl or some other tool to convert them to pkcs12.

The hostname verification property in the WLS administration console
    applies only
to the SSL clients running on the WL server. Your browser might have
    its own configuration
    for this.

When we are consuming the webservice in our UAT environment, we are getting the SSL Handshake error.

After contacting BMC support we got the mentioned link to refer for the same:

    https://kb.bmc.com/infocenter/index?page=contentid=KA394111

As per the KB, we are trying to import the certificate to the Java Plugin but getting the error while running the mentioned command.

    .\keytool import v alias alias_name -file path_to_cert_file\certfile.cer keystore path_to_jre\lib\security\cacerts

    Where:

alias_name is any name you want to label the cert

path_to_cert_file is the path to where you copied the cert filecertfile is the name of your *.cer file

path_to_jre is the path to your JRE

Note: We are giving the appropriate values in the command still getting the error which says that the -import keyword is invalid.

Request to help on the same so that we can import the certificates to overcome the SSL Handshake error while consuming Web services.

DB:2.64:Unable To Consume Remedy Ws With Another Instance Of Remedy sp

Vineet Sharma, open command prompt (with Run as administrator option) in AR Server , navigate to your JRE installation bin folder, manually type the cert import commands and it should work.

Here is a sample import on my Win 8 machine.

keytool import v alias SAMPLE -file "C:\Users\User\Desktop\Sample.crt" keystore "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\lib\security\cacerts"

I am using the SOAP adapter to send a message via HTTPS. The receiver server only accepts client authorisation, so I configured the communication channel accordingly: I imported the certificate in NWA keystore (PI 7.1) and selected "Configure Client Authentication" on the communication channel.

However, when I try and send a message to the receiving service, the following error shows up in the communication channel monitoring:

Delivering the message to the application using connection SOAP_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: iaik.security.ssl.SSLException: Peer sent alert: Alert Fatal: bad certificate. Setting message to status failed.

When I import the used certificate in my browser and try to connect via my browser to the receiving soap service, I get a response indicating the the webservice has been reached OK.

I pulled some more details out of the JAVA logging:

DB:2.62:Error In Soap Receiver Channel fp

Problem solved. The error was in the response of the server.

PI uses SSL v3.2, the server SSL v3.1. This is ok: SSL v3.1 will be used in this case, but the server responded by error with SSL v3.2. Hence the communication was broken.

DB:2.61:Sspi Handshake Failed With Error Code 0x8009030c.[Client: Named Pipe]. cf

I know this is an old thread, under T-SQL, but I recently had the same message so I am offering this. I feel it is appropriate because this thread was one of the first that showed up in my search engine.

Every minute, exactly one minute apart, I was getting SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c, state 14.... I knew why it was failing, but not what was causing it to fail. Here were the circumstances:

We set up a server Installed SQL 2008R2, including Reporting Services. After testing we: renamed the server, used T-SQL to change %%SERVERNAME.

Renaming the server was obviously the problem, but we thought it was failing to update the underlying data. The solution was so simple I missed it, as other forum advice was more focused on going in the weeds of SQL.

I had to use the reporting services configuration manager to change the server name there, too. After reconfiguring, the SSPI handshake error stopped completely.

The two changes we needed to make were:

    2) use the SSL CertificateIP rather than the SSL CertificateDNS on the

Launch C1 that is installed on a server, go into the security container. In

there you\'ll see a Ca - something object. Go into the properties and verify

which server it runs on if that one is still alive.

Also, you can run pkidiag on your servers.

DB:2.59:Ohs: Mbean Error While Trying To Access Server Configuration m1

    Hi Rahul,

It seems to be a mismatch between the Server (WLS) SSL configuration and the (OHS)client SSL configuration. This can happen if a new certificate is created after configuring the WebLogic server SSL certificate.

If a new certificate is created, the new nms-server.keystore will be saved to $NMS_CONFIG/jconfig/server

To update the certificate, first verify whether WebLogic is reading the certificate from.
In the WebLogic console, go to Home, Server, [server name], Keystores, Custom identity keystore.

Next, overwrite this keystore with the version that is in $NMS_CONFIG/jconfig/server

    Thanks

DB:2.58:!!! Plz Help !! Calling Https Webservice In Wls 9.2 1c

I have a https webservice running in weblogic 9.2. While calling that I am getting {color:#ff0000}stronglt;BEA-090477gt; lt;Certificate chain received from abcserver.com -171.186.224.20 was not trusted causing SSL handshake failure.gt;/strong

    {color}

But when I write a standalone program with main() in my local machine and call the webservice its working fine !!. But when I write a client using the same code and put it inside a .war file and deploy in weblogic 9.2 server and then call,... it is giving the error.

    This is what I did.

    1. I generated the client using "weblogic.wsee.tools.anttasks.ClientGenTask"

    2. downloaded the .der file from firefox after I accessed the wsld(https://abcserver.com/......wsdl). and created the keystore by strongkeytool -import -alias servercert -file server.der -keystore server.keystore.

    3. /strongadded in client code

    System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs","com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol");

    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore","....../server.keystore");

System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword","password"); and then called the webservice.

Funny thing is that with the same code if I write a stand alone client with public static void main() it is able to call the webservice properly . But if I write the same code and package it in .war file and deploy in WLS 9.2 it is giving the above mentioned error. Another thing even though I set "javax.net.ssl.trustStore" with the absolute path of server.keystore file, while I print the values in jvm, it never shows up. but all other values are properly shown. Is the main problem is the jvm of my local system and jvm of WLS 9.2 ?

Could any one help . plz ... it is urgent !!

    System.setProperty("weblogic.security.CustomTrustKeyStoreFileName",".....absolutePath...../server.keystore");

    Hi,
    1. To start with TFS, first we have installed TFS2010 on Development Server with account say domain\TFSDev.
and we have installed database in the same server.
Next i have created some sample project collections and Team projects and we configured reporting services and we have played around on how to use TFS and other ALM process.

    2. next i have installed TFS on production server with account say domain\TFSProd
and we have configured TFS database in different server for production environment.
Next i have taken Database Backups of projects which are created in TFS Dev Server and restored in TFS production database.

Later we have found that TFS Dev Server account that is domain\TFSDEV has access to prodcution database hence i have deleted the account from logins of Production SQL Server.

From that point when i access TFS Development server our Database administrators are receving alerts that from Dev TFS domain account is trying to access the production database.

This is possibly because your old server had the correct SSL certificates loaded into the trust store, while the new one does not.

Using ikeyman, open (or create) a Trust Store jks, and add the SSL certificate for the target Web Service host.

If you are testing locally, verify by setting the SSL properties thus. (Key/Trust store file names are examples only).

    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore", PROFILE + "/etc/DummyServerTrustFile.jks");
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword", "WebAS");
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", PROFILE + "/etc/DummyServerKeyFile.jks");
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword", "WebAS");
System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs", "com.ibm.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol");where "PROFILE" on my system is "C:/IBM/WebSphere/profiles/wp_profile".

OK, what's happening now is that the SQL server is presenting your client with a certificate as part of the SSL handshake, but your client is unable to create a chain of certificates which lead to a certificate that you trust.
For testing purposes, you could place this certificate in the 'Trusted People' certificate store, but for production purposes the'correct' thing to do is to contact your SQLServer admin and ask him/her to provide you with the appropriate certificates
to install so that your clientcan construct a chain of certificates it can trust.
    See
Import or export certificates and private keysfor how to add and remove certificates from certificate stores.

Also, when we checked the event viewer, we are seeing following SQL Server errors whenever we try to access the 2nd URL:

DB:2.56:Problems With A Webservice Over Ssl. af

We are making APIs for a health-insurance portal. These APIs are going to be avaible as a webservice and are implemented with JAVA.

As webservice we are using Oracle9iAS J2EE Web Services with OC4J. The SSL-connection is build with the JSSE-classes.

Because the webservice are also going to be used by client made with other technologies than JAVA, the keystore and trusstores must be stored in an standard way, we use PKCS#12. Because not all client are going to have a Oracle client side, we do not want to use the Oracle Wallet.

    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore","D:\\JAVASDKS\\SDK1.3.1_03\\jre\\lib\\security\\jssecacerts");

[Tue Jun 03 06:26:49 2008] [error] mod_ssl: SSL handshake failed (server server IP, client server IP) (OpenSSL library error follows)

    [Tue Jun 03 06:26:49 2008] [error] OpenSSL: error:140A1041:SSL routines:SSL_BYTES_TO_CIPHER_LIST:malloc failure

We are running OpenSSL version 0.9.7i 14 Oct 2005

Do you have any suggestions as to what is causing this? Thanks.

place a break point (HTTP) in IF_HTTP_EXTENSION~HANDLE_REQUEST method of class CL_SOAP_HTTP_EXTENSION and now call the webservice, it will go into ABAP debugging screen, where you can debugg and see why this is happenning

SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x80090311 while establishing a connection with integrated security; the connection has been closed. [CLIENT: 10.x.x.x]

Security event log shows Authentication Package: NTLM. User is NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

Error code equates to SEC_E_NO_AUTHENTICATING_AUTHORITY, which is returned by SSPI InitializeSecurityContext (NTLM), documented as:

    SEC_E_NO_AUTHENTICATING_AUTHORITY

No authority could be contacted for authentication. The domain name of the authenticating party could be wrong, the domain could be unreachable, or there might have been a trust relationship failure.

But the error occurs only intermittently, and there have been no configuration or code changes since this started to occur during current interactive day. No general problems with AD DC availability.

    Seen this before? Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

This is not a SQL issue. There are probably some network issue on your system and you lost the connectivity to AD from time to time. Please let your network administror investigate any possible network issue. Thanks.

For others who may run in to this issue, I have the same issue, figured out that likely cause is just wat the message says "Enable to retrieve getMasterSecret". We are using AIX and the IBM jre does not contain this method. The SR is still running on this.

Getting following error while invoking webservice over ssl.

    "SOAP-ENV:IOException; msg=SSL handshake failed: SSLProtocolErr"

We generated webservice java stub using JDeveloper based on wsdl provided to us from 3rd party. We are able to test this webservice successfully without ssl . Once ssl is enabled by the 3rd party webservice provider we faced
"java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no njssl9 in java.library.path" error in JDeveloper.

In JDeveloper we were able to resolve this by following details provided at
Lehmann's web log on "Securing a Web Service - Client SSL" (http://radio.weblogs.com/0132036/2004/02/13.html ).

We then run the same java stub from oracle application server 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2. This is when we get error

    "SOAP-ENV:IOException; msg=SSL handshake failed: SSLProtocolErr"

Debugging further we see that in 9iAS we have following in our class path.
    ..iAS/jlib/jssl-1_1.jar:..iAS/jlib/javax-ssl-1_1.jar:..iAS/soap/webapps/soap/WEB-INF/lib/soap.jar

we took the same files and added to libraries in JDeveloper and are able to reproduce the same error in JDeveloper. We turned on Debug on oracle.jssl.debug and with that we see following details

    instantiate the hashtable
    SocketTable write Enter fdin 1
SocketTable write offset 0 length 72
    SocketTable write: 72 bytes
    SocketTable read Enter
    SocketTable read: 1 bytes
    SocketTable read Enter
    SocketTable read: 2 bytes
    SSLSocketImpl close Thread:main
In close removing fd 1Thread main
[SOAPException: faultCode=SOAP-ENV:IOException; msg=SSL handshake failed: SSLProtocolErr...

Any suggestions on how to resolve this error in oracle application server 9iAS ?

Note: We run Oracle E-Business Suite on this same 9iAS so any change we make should not impact the oracle applications running on this server.

    hi,

thi sis very simple soloution for this. open the wsdl into the internet explorer. when wsdl file open save this wsdl with the .xml extension. when u want to make dat contorl or web sekelton or proxy dont use the hhtps:// ????????/ url give the path there for the .xml file which u save for this. i am sure u will invoke all the services which is provoider by the web service.

    Hello Constantin,

I think the problem is that you are catching the exception and then logging it with severity DEBUG.

By default the DEBUG messages are not recorded in the trace files unless you have changed that.

Change debugT to errorT and most likely the exception will be recorded.

You should also add e.printStackTrace() to errorT.

Please refer to the Logging and Tracing documentation for more information:

DB:2.52:"Bad Handshake" Error With Mysql mp

    Hello,
I'm having problems when I try to connect to DB using MySQL 4.1.1alpha.
    I have Conector/J 3.1 and Connector/ODBC 3.51.
The exceptions occur when I try to connect with the sentence:
    conection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/mysql?user=root");

    the exception thrown is:
    Communication link failure: Bad handshake

I can connect from mysql and from mysql Control Center but not from JAVA.

    Does Anyone know my problem?

    Greetings
    Mariano

DB:2.52:Anyone Successfully Configured Webservices Security With Username/Password? d9

    Hi,

We have a webservice that was built with Workshop with which we want to enable message level authentication using a username token. See:

    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs100/webserv_sec/message.html#wp252461

We have the webservice configured with the "Wssp1.2-Wss1.0-UsernameToken-Plain-X509-Basic256.xml " policy.

Then, we also have a webservice client (a small portal app) that uses a webservice control that we built from the WSDL from the webservice.

The webservice client and the webservice are deployed on two different WebLogic domains, but, we can't get the webservice client to work with the webservice.

On the webservice client side, we have the Default Credential Mapper configured, and a credential mapping:

    protocol: http
    hostname: hostname where webservice is
port: port for the domain the webservice is running on
path: the URI for the webservice

When the webservice client attempts to access the webservice, we get a "Failed to add signature" error.

I also have a sniffer between the two machines, and I can see that there is no traffic going from the webservice client machine to the webservice machine, so I think the thing is dying just at the webservice end.

While trying to figure out what's going on, I was messing with the settings in the default relying party (rp_00001) in the SAML Credential Mapper, and I noted that that when I uncheck "Sign Assertions" and "Include Keyinfo", the error that I get changes from "Failed to add signature" to "Unable to add security token for identity".

So, I was wondering, has anyone had the experience of setting up a similar configuration?

And, if so, what else needs to be setup on the webservice client domain, other than the Default Credential Mapper and the credential mappings?

Does something in the SAML Credential Mapper also have to be configured, and if so, what?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

P.S. I forgot to mention that both domains are "out-of-the-box" WebLogic domains, i.e., no custom keystores, etc.

    DB:2.52:Windows Xp 7 Fail Authentication To Acs 5.3 3j

    Greetings

    Here is the scenario

previously using freeradius and no issues existed with windows clients connecting to the wireless.

The SSID has wpa/wpa2, 802.1x authentication

    Installed ACS 5.3

configured Store for LDAP - we don't use AD so don't recommend it

allowing PEAP-GTC as PEAP-MSCHAP2 is unsupported

uploaded a valid sign Certificate for our organization to be used for EAP

all MAC clients work and most mobile devices, user receives the cert and click accept and then they are prompted for Username and Password

However all  windows clients XPSP2, XPSP3, Windows 7 fail to connect

    first error was

Windows was unable to find a certificate on local machine to use to validate network.

I would expect that the acs would provide the cert like the MAC devices at this point, that doesn't seem to be the case.

I exported the cert from acs and imported into the XPSP3 machine and placed it into Trusted Root CA

I tried almost every store listed as well.

    After the import

The error is unable to connect to network.

    ACS reports

While trying to negotiate a TLS handshake with the client, ACS received  an unexpected TLS alert message. This might be due to the supplicant not  trusting the ACS server certificate for some reason. ACS treated the  unexpected message as a sign that the client rejected the tunnel  establishment.

It also lists the username as the organization in the Cert and PEAP(null)

for the windows client I have

    auth as WPA2

    Data Encryption as AES

    on the Authentication tab

    EAP type Protected EAP

    authenticate as computer unchecked

    authenticate as guest unchecked

    under EAP properties button

    Validate server cert - checked

Trusted Root CA - the organizations cert - checked

do not prompt user - unchecked

select auth method - smart card or other cert - selected - since mschapv2 is not supported for the ldap store

    clicked configure

use a certificate on this computer - checked

use simple cert selection - checked

    Validate server cert - checked

Trusted Root CA - checked the org cert

    use different user - unchecked

    enable fast reconnect - unchecked

What I would like to see

The user selects the ssid is prompted to accept cert from acs accepts user is prompted for their ldap login creds user is authenticated

Any insight would be greatly appreciated

I am trying to configure e-mail on NSD 7.0.3 appliance. Our mail server is Lotus Domino 9.0.1 and it supports imaps protocol. A mailbox has been created for NSD and I can successfully connect to it using Thunderbird. I can also connect by using openssl s_client from the command line of NSD appliance. But when I configure relevant fields in NSD:

    Incoming server: ourserver.ourdomain.com

    Protocol: IMAPS

    Port: blank

    Username: ServiceDesk

    Password: correct_password

...and press Test, I receive an error message:

Error connecting to host: Server chose SSLv3, but that protocol version is not enabled or not supported by the client.

(I ran tcpdump on the appliance while pressing Test, and the dump output shows NSD server connecting to IMAP server on port 993, IMAP server sending back the certificate and then NSD server responding with Handshake failure.

IMAP server admin has enabled the use of SSLv2 on server side, but that doesn\'t seem to change the situation.

Is there anything that we can do on NSD side to get this working? Obviously we could try using plain IMAP (port 143) with all the security impliactions, but we prefer the traffic to be encrypted.

    Hi,

Do you get the same problem with out the proxy? If yes, obviously the ssl-setup
is bad. Also a more detailed description of the problem might help =) Like what
type of client and how do you make the server-id-cert trusted in it? You can find
pretty good info about the basics of SSL-config in Bea online docs.

I connect to the API service using the generated SSL certificates using the certificate manager of MVM. This MVM software is integrated with a domain controller, after which i'm facing this problem..

As i thought this has something to do with the SSL certificates, i also went ahead and re-generated fresh certificates using the certificate manager tool on the server and used it.. Still i face the same issue..

While i've been able to use another MVM test instance which is not integrated with a domain and i use with certificates and basic credentials..

Can anyone provide pointers to the error i've pasted above, please?

    Thanks,

    Vishi

    Hi Vishi,

I'm sorry, I don't have any pointers, but I wanted to find out if this is still an issue for you, or if you've been able to solve it?

if it's still an issue, you should get a Service Request opened.

    Thanks!Cathy

DB:2.50:Why Does Sslstream Seem To Ignore Ssl Handshake Errors. 8c

    Hi,
While writing code using SslSteam I found that a server I was testing against was failing and I was getting the following error:
Received an unexpected EOF or 0 bytes from the transport stream.
When I looked at the data returned by the server it contained the following:

    RECV (0005) == 15 03 00 00 02
    RECV (0002) == 02 28

    This breaks down to:

    [15] (Alert!)
    [03 00] SSL Version
    [00 02] Body Length (2 Bytes)
    [02 28] 2 = SSL3_RT_FATAL, 40 = SSL3_AD_HANDSHAKE_FAILURE

This is, as far as SSL is concerned, a fatal error; one that can not be recovered from.

It seems however that SslStream issues another read after it receives the handshake error
which results in a EOF exception (mentioned above) which is what you would expect as
the server probably closed it's end of the connection already.

My question is why does it issue this extra read instead of throwing an exception for the handshake failure?

Am I missing something or is this a known issue with the implementation?

It would appear that you loose information by issuing the extra read.

We then run the same java stub from oracle application server 9iAS 1.0.2.2.2. This is when we get error

    Hi everyone,

I have a problem in consuming a webservice using JDeveloper 10g Release 2, I tried to figure out the reason but didnt find anything.

The webservice stub is generated successfully by the IDE, but when i try to access a web method, it gives the following error:

*"SOAPException: faultCode=SOAP-ENV:IOException; msg=javax.net.ssl.SSLException: SSL handshake failed: SSLIOErr; targetException=java.io.IOException: javax.net.ssl.SSLException: SSL handshake failed: SSLIOErr"*

Note that it works in some places (it works in my side), and some are not (doesnt work for some clients), does this have anything to do with the network, proxy or firewall configurations? or is it an IDE issue because it works successfully in JDeveloper 11g (even with some of the non-working clients).

I tried hardly to know the cause of this error, but i couldnt find anything, its very confusing.

Please help, Your response is highly appreciated.

I'm running a pretty simple XP-Pro client setup on an openSUSE 10.2 server with VMware Server 1.0.4.

After month of smooth and silent operation, I need to do some annual updates within XP.

But trying to access the instance results in an error dialog:

Unable to connect to the MKS: Pipe: Write failed.

while this appears in the vmware.log:

Downgrading to .3 and .2 resulted in exact the same error.

The server and console are both openSUSE 10.2 systems with all security patches applied, e.g.:

    openssl-0.9.8d-23.7

    glibc-2.5-34.7

    pam-0.99.6.3-29.1

I'm deperately seeking for a fix of this issue, since the updates can't wait any longer.

Should I downgrade the security updates, and if yes, where? On console, server, or both?

    TIA,

    Pete

Ideally the VMware rpm would require the correct libraries, but sadly it does not. I had to install a number of i386 X libraries to get VMware Server Console to start on my x86_64 bit install. Also, installing libXtst.i386 has fixed my MKS problem. Thanks for the information.

    DB:2.50:Ace Ssl Termination (40) Handshake Failure p3

I have configured the ACE 4710 as a network load balancer and this is working well for most sites.  Now I have installed the SSL cert and the https version of the site will not be displayed.  Ran Wireshark protocol analyser and it indicates a RST packet was recieved with error (40) Handshake failure.. any ideas?

    Hello,

Unfortunately, the ACE cannot passively monitor application traffic for specific errors or patterns to determine when an rserver should or should not be in the load balancing rotation.  The only options I'm aware of are all the probes described in the Configuring Health Monitoring document, which includes several application-layer probes.  Obviously, the HTTP and/or HTTPS probes should cover you for your web servers.  For the SQL servers, you might be able to accomplish it with a TCP probe and expect regex.  Otherwise, you would need to get creative with using TCL scripts for probing.  This is documented in the Using Toolkit Command Language (TCL) Scripts with the ACE documentation.

    HTH,

DB:2.50:Rocket M5 Dropping All Clients (Sta Detected Michael Mic Failure) z1

Howdy,I've got a Rocket M5 running 5.2.1 (installed about a year ago by other folks, and I'm working with it now) and I'm seeing it drop all associated clients every few hours. The errors logged on the AP are:Apr 3 10:37:52 hostapd: ath0: STA 00:15:6d:x WPA: group key handshake completed (RSN)Apr 3 10:37:52 hostapd: ath0: STA 00:27:22:x WPA: group key handshake completed (RSN)Apr 3 10:37:52 hostapd: ath0: STA 00:27:22:x WPA: group key handshake completed (RSN)Apr 3 10:37:52 hostapd: ath0: STA 00:27:22:x WPA: group key handshake completed (RSN)Apr 3 10:37:52 hostapd: ath0: STA 00:27:22:x WPA: group key handshake completed (RSN)Apr 3 10:37:52 hostapd: ath0: STA 00:27:22:x WPA: group key handshake completed (RSN)Apr 3 10:42:21 hostapd: ath0: STA 00:15:6d:x WPA: received EAPOL-Key Error Request (STA detected Michael MIC failure)Apr 3 10:42:21 hostapd: ath0: STA 00:15:6d:x WPA: pairwise key handshake completed (RSN)The AP only logs the "MIC failure" for one client (that client is running 5.2.1 as well), but drops all of them. The error always pops up shortly after a rekey and the drop happens after the "MIC failure" error.I'll add some client-side messages as well:Apr 3 13:27:52 wpa-supplicant: WPA: Group rekeying completed with 00:15:6d:9a:b6:d5 Apr 3 13:30:54 wpa-supplicant: CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED - Disconnect event - remove keysApr 3 13:30:54 wireless: ath0 Received deauth from 00:15:6d:x . I'm a little leery of firmware that's too new.

IMHO, it can mean either or. Whatever the client is capable of.At least, that's the way I've seen it done before. Stay away from that.I think that's correct - I just swapped everyone over to WPA2-AES and by keeping the AP set at "WPA2" during the transition, everyone was able to link up right after the client-side change to WPA2-AES. Then I went back to the AP and set "WPA2-AES" there. Everyone came back. Now I wait and see if any new/different errors appear that cause everyone to drop off the AP every few hours. Thanks so much for your assistance!
