    It can be either a signal issue or the drive in the DVR is failing.

    You are welcome to take the DVR and remote to the local office for a swap first, then if it still does it, get a tech out. You can also just call for a service call and the tech will determine the reason and fixi it.

    I have just installed the DVR Expander last week with the 8300HD and have had the box reboot three times in one week and it also does not recognize the external drive when it reboots. I also fixed the problem the same as you. I repported this to Cablevision and they are supposed to get back to me in a day or two. I also called WD and they indicted they have heard of problems with the 1TB Expander but not with the 500GB model. They suggested I call Cablevision or switch to the 500GB Expander.

    Normally not. Recording info is stored on the drive. That said, depending on the level of corruption, there is always the possibility of it being wiped. It may be a good idea to write down your series list and any individually scheduled recordings, just in case.

    In addition to my DirecTV HD service (H23 receiver) I've also been set up with Comcast HD Digital Cable with a DVR. For some reason, my Comcast DVR remote control is affecting my DirecTV satellite box. In other words, when I change channels using the Comcast remote on the Comcast DVR, or hit menu on the Comcast DVR remote, or program, etc. etc., when I switch back to the DirecTV box, it's all been changed as well. The DirecTV remote has no effect on the Comcast box, but vice versa. Apparently the default code on my Comcast DVR is the same code as the DirecTV box. Any ideas on how to change this so that the Comcast DVR remote has no effect on the DirecTV box? I haven't found any DirecTV AUX codes that would work with cable boxes.

    Does it occur during 'live' viewing, or also with recordings? Is it just audio, or are there also video glitches?

    On some channels, I've noticed a bit of audio dropouts on a few channels. This is fixed by hitting pause, waiting a few seconds, then hitting play or live. This gives a bigger buffer. The recent software/firmware update shortened the buffer for live when you first tune into a channel, and that sometimes seems to cause problems.

    What needs to happen is that all the boxes are on the same line connected together, but it shouldn't matter as to what locations they are in.

    In my house, the main line comes into the 2nd bedroom. There it splits to one DCX3200M and the line continues to the master bedroom. There it splits 3 ways, one to a DCX3200M, one to a cable modem, and one line to the living room. The line going to the living room then splits to a DCX3400M (server) box and to a eMTA voice modem.

    So as you can see, the line get's split a lot, but they are all connected together.

    The cable card itself would not need upgrading. If you recently have gotten new channels, the cable card should get updated with the new channel map. If it doesn't, call Comcast support for them them to send a signal to the Tivo's cable card.

    Now if you do get your new channels, the Tivo's guide data might not get updated with the new channels for a week or two or more, it matters on when Tribune Media Serives who supplies the TivoGuide gets the new channel information to pass down to the Tivo.

    Cisco RNG200N box from Comcast, about 2 years old. Within the last 2 or 3 days, the box has suddenly started "sputtering" in DVR playback mode. Watching taped stuff is a chore, it will run fine for a minute or three, then it will stop dead briefly, no sound, and the action will then pick up in a jerky fashion, video is "crackly" for lack of a better term, and again no sound, then it will start working OK again for a while, 5-10 mins at best, then it starts up again. What throws us is that if we switch to live after we've been trying to watch something taped, the live broadcast on the current channel will ALSO start sputtering and stuttering in the same way, but after a minute or two, or if the channel is changed, it goes back to totally normal operation.Given this seems to overlap into the live output, and everything does run thru the DVR after all, I'm hoping it's not the sign of the box going bad, but I don't get good vibes from this. Anyone experience this before and have a solution? Rebooting the box did not help.

    If this is an overall consumer problem, file a individual civil complaint for failure to provide services. Just likeyouwould do for a home contractor who takes half down and doesn't provide the product. Its called a lien.

    The movie industry's innovation for the longest time was good films/stories that people actually wanted to watch. Today, they don't even want to put the effort into that.     Usually each TV outlet is home run to a central location where the splitter is. Between the input of the splitter and the ground block, the MOCA filter is placed. The MOCA filter prevents the MOCA signals from leaving the house, and helps reflect the MOCA signal back to the equipment.

    Everything is networked with regular coax cabling between the Master DVR and the satellite boxes.

    Since you have only one unit, and your live play is fine and only playback is at issue, it sounds like a DVR problem. The steps I'd suggest are:

    Get caught up on all your recordingsA power-off reboot (unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug back in). See if that helps, if not...Non-destructive disaster recovery. (see below for instructions). See if that helps, if not...Full disaster recovery. This wipes out all recordings, and is the last gasp before...Call in to have your DVR replaced with a new one. This also will cause you to lose all recordings.

    Instructions:

    Non-destructive disaster recovery (this doesn't wipe recordings unless the DVR has a hardware problem, which means you're going to lose them anyway):

    Unplug DVR for 30 seconds. Plug back in.Wait until the screen with three large gray dots (or circles if you prefer) appearAs soon as they appear, Repeat step 1, followed by step 2 for a total of 3 times.When the dots appear the 3rd time, unplug it one last time. Wait 30 seconds, plug it back inThis time gears should appear, with a progress bar. This progress bar can take a long time (especially if you have a lot of recordings)DVR should resume normal operations after this process.

    Full Disaster Recovery (always removes all programs on the DVR):

    Unplug the DVR. Wait 30 seconds.Plug the DVR back in while holding OK and Down.(1 gear will show, then a second, and the DVR should restart normal operations, with no recordings).

    Only recently the DVR manager is availabe to selectCisco area's. Right now it is only available if you order the AnyRoom DVR option.

    Stand alone DVR's will get the upgrade by the end of the year in most areas. Comcast will notify you of the new guide 2.0 upgrade. Once you have the guide 2.0 installed on your DVR, then you know it will be very soon that the DVR manager will be available to you.

    Until guide 2.0 is installed in your area and on your equipment, it is not yet available.

    You can contact Comcast about ordering the AnyRoom DVR, and you most likely get it when that installation takes place.

    Sorry, it is impossible for the external drive to connect and read the files from the drive and make them useable to a pc. The same with a Tivo, the drives are "married" to the device and can't be moved to another device and make them useable. These files do have some copy protection flag and formatsto prevent these files to be useable to anything else.

    The Studios have alot to do with how much these files are locked down and not able to copy off a drive or from device to device. They make it almost impossible to do anything with these files.

    With Tivo's multiple DVR's on the same account can move files from box to box or to a pc, as every device has the same "key" to keep the copy protection sync'd between the devices. Premium's and certain shows always have some copy protection that makes them impossible to move or play on another device. On the Tivo's you can't share these files to another user with their own Tivo, but they can be stored on a server or other storage device and then copied back when they are to be played.

    There are other solutions for archiving, justnot with a a Comcast DVR. The intent of a Comcast DVR is casual time-shifting and nothing more. Comcast Motorola equipped area's never were able to add a extra drive on those DVR's, which is over 80% of the Comcast systems.

    Tivo does work with Comcast. The Tivo will come with a Cable Card slot. This Cable Card you get from Comcast. It will allow you to access your channels from the Tivo. However, not all locations stock Cable Cards, meaning if you can't find a service location that has one, you may need a tech to bring you one. Also, make sure you get a newer Tivo that supports M Card. It has more features.

    Comast just announced yesterday that the new quad tuner dvr that was being test is now starting to roll out nationwide starting in boston. It is going to look just like it does if you have the app or the view listings on the pc. There is no word yet on when its rolling out to the rest of the country but from what I guess it will be motorola markets only as the Cisco SA market is getting guide 2.0 on the current hardware.     It would be extremely doubful these days with so many expensive DVR's and settop boxesin place to pull everything out and replace it. In the 80's 90's they used to when boxes were cheap, but it would be rare especially in a large system.

    I could seethem doing it in a small system that they would shut down the existing SA headend and tie the system to a nearby Moto headend, but there are not many area's that can be done with. The larger the system, the less chance of it ever happening.

    Most major MSO's run both brands of equipment in different areas.

    You would never seen an official answer from Comcast on major equipment changes. Comcast is concentrating on getting the new features on the SA systems, it's easier and cheaper the change the software than the hardware.

    Nope, there is no way. But even if you might be able to export a DVR recording to another device, it wouldn't be readable because recordings are "married" (encrypted) to the recording device.

    To get a DVR recording to a computer you would have to play the DVR recording and capture the live playing stream to another device (DVD recorder) and then be able take the captured recording to a computer.

    You can set up/build a HTPC (Home Theater Computer) withWindows 7, aTV tuner, and Comcast supplied/rented CableCARD. With a HTPC you have the possibility of unlimited recording storage/capacity, if you have the hard drive hardware to support doing so.

    No scan, it all operates by your local over the air locations for the Tivo's that will hook to an antenna, and the cable tuners only match the channels to the local cable system, by entering the zip code.

    The Tivo would have a selection such as choices for the local cable system (Comcast, Fios or an over builder such as WOW or RCN) or over the air for that specific zip. That's why sometimes Tivo users have to use a close by zip in situations where the channel lineup doesn't quite match.

    Many areas already have it. Normally Comcast will send you an email when it's avaible. If you are not sure if you have it, there are certain items that need to be confirmed first.

    First, make sure you have a Motorola DVR, as Scientific Atlanta / Cisco DVR's do not have remote DVR function yet.

    Confirm that you DVR has the correct guide version by doing the following

    select "menu" button on remote

    select"menu"on screen

    select "setup"

    select "cable box setup"

    scroll down to configuration andpress the "ok/select", that will show you the software version line

    the software version must show a "A28"inthe string, if itshows "A25" then your area has not received the new guide yet which my dvr needs.

    If you do have A28, then go to

    menu button on remote

    select "menu"

    select "setup"

    select "remote access setup" and enable remote DVR access

    That needs to be done before you try themy dvr web page.

    Then go to http://comcast.net/mydvr and check for avaibility in your area.

    If the remote access setup is enabled on the DVR, and you still can't get it working on the web site, then Comcast support will need to help you.

    Ever since some lightning storms in our neighborhood several weeks ago, we havehad intermittent issues with cable TV - stuttering, audio dropouts, pixelation, "this channel should be available shortly" messages. In checking the signal strength on my DVR 8300 HDC, it shows -18db which is below the minimum of -15db. And that's with the cable from the street going through an amp. If I remove the amplifier and go straight to the DVR it drops to -20db.

    Comcast is telling me I have to wait a week for a service technician to come look at the problem, which to me is unacceptable especially in light of the fact that they have made several trips to our neighborhood to fix problems only to have them arise again. In addition I've had oneappointment canceled by Comcast because they "fixed an issue". The supposed fix lasted less than 24 hours, so now instead of waiting 3 days, I'm waiting a week.

    Come on Comcast, step up and make this right!

    My HR22/100 stutters on DVR playback and from the satellite. If i do a reset from the menu it clears up, but the next day, the stuttering is back. I've reauthorized as well, several times. but it doesn't help. the only thing i haven't tried is the red button next to the card. I wasn't sure if that was different from a reset through the onscreen menu.

    comcast dvr with tivo was a failed project that never got passed a trial in the boston area. I don't know why its even still up on their website. So to answer your question no it is not.

    DVR Manager is expected to be available to all of our Scientific-Atlanta and Cisco branded DVRs by the end of the year. We have already started the site by site activation (DVR Manager requires some additional new guide software and some infrastructure to be activated).

    DB:2.89:X1 Cloud Dvr - Stuttering Programs On Secondary (Terminal) Boxes ds



    I haven't seen this specific issue addressed and unfortunately, Tier 2 support for X1 has been delinquent in getting in touch with me. Here are the key points:
    I turned on Cloud DVR service a few weeks agoThere are no problems watching programs on the main X1 boxI can stream and "Take to Go" programs that I recorded with the Cloud DVR to my iPad with no problemsWhen I attempt to watch DVR programs from either of my two terminal boxes, one of two thigns happens:The program takes a little while to load and then either stutters or buffers for a little while (sometimes the pausing while stuttering or buffering lasts for a long time). Eventually, the program stops and I receive a Recording Playback error instructing me that the recording is not available and that I should wait or call Comcast support.The program does not load and eventually I am left with a black screen. At that point, I can no longer watch Live TV because the screen stays black. This requires me to reset the DVR box.
    Obviously, I have tried powercycling all of the boses (main and two terminals), but this has not solved the problem.

    When I spoke with an X1 (not Tier 2) tech, his suspicion was the same as mine: that there appears to be some sort of "communication" issue between my secondary boxes and the main X1 box.

    Prior to turning on Cloud service, I had no problems playing DVR programs that were on the X1 box from either of my two secondary boxes.

    I should also mention that I have no problems watching On Demand from either of the two secondary boxes or the main X1 box.

    If anyone has any help, I would greatly appreciate it. I really do like that Comcast has this new technology; it's just really frustrating that no one is able to help me to fix it.
