I have an XP Home PC and rexently lost the file d3d8.dll.
was playing sims2 when power went out.
upon restart sims2 wouldn't play.
dxdiag claims that d3d8.dll is missing and direct3d tests cannot be performed on the diag tool.
reinstall of directX doesn't fix the problem and the .cab files on the redist directx version (APR2005-AUG2009) don't contain the d3d8.dll file.
I need help on finding the d3d8.dll on the MS downloads

Hello

I have Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64 bits original, an 9800GT Nvidia graphic card, with the latest driver installed, and DirectX 11, I've runned dxwebsetup to update my directx already, etc.

I'm having problems to play old games that requires DirectDraw, as Diablo 2, it gives this message:

"Error 22: A critical error has occurred while initializing DirectDraw"

At dxdiag, it says the DirectDraw is "Not Available".

What should I do?

DB:2.73:Directdraw On Windows 7 ax

This solution is pretty much a cut and paste from an article I viewed. Nothing I have seen from Microsoft addresses the wide spread issue of the DirectDraw and Direct3D features being UNAVAILABLE, not simply Disabled. There is a big difference here. My
computer had DirectDraw running fine until I installed Windows 7 and now DirectX is broken. It seems the good people at Microsoft are happy ignoring the real issue here. Can you tell me why DirectDraw is UNAVAILABLE and how to fix it. Please do not tell me
to run dxdiag and select Display tab and Enable the feature. My research has shown this is a VERY wide spread issue.

Greetings:

I have the same issues that everyone has posted. The hardware listed below has run FSX-Acceleration for over a year on Vista 32bit sp2 without any problems. I installed a clean Windows 7 four weeks ago. I have run the Win7 updates, DirectX 9.0c
retail redist., nVidia's latest drivers, and FSX started crashing one week ago. It is NOT possible to complete a flight no matter what the distance or time -- FSX will crash, period. I am disappointed like all of you, my time with Flight Simulator was very

You want to install SP1 if possible because if I remember there were significant performance fixes included which will make FSX run way smoother on most systems. Then again if you upgrade and it won't run anymore that's a moot point. You could always make
a backup or use system restore if it don't work out for you.

I am creating a VC static library (.lib) that uses DX9. I want to hide the fact that I am using DirectX from my clients so am using
#pragma comment( lib, ... )

in my .cpp files to include the DX libs when they link in to my static library. For this to work, my clients must have the DX libs on their machine and an option in their linker
to specify where to find these. Am I allowed to ship these .lib files? They aren't in the DX Redist and I don't want my clients downloading the full SDK, they just don't need it.

What is my legal position on this?

Kind Regards

DB:2.36:Distributing Directx Libraries 79

The EULA only explicitly allows you to redistribute sample code and media files. So from that I wouldn't assume that you could just copy the import libraries.
Be aware that there is nothing stopping you from generating your own import library and you do have all of the symbol names. So using dumpbin, lib and a module definition file, you should be able to create a compatable import library that you can redistribute. This is a signature

Any samples given are not meant to have error checking or show best practices. They are meant to just illustrate a point. I may also give inefficient code or introduce some problems to discourage copy/paste coding. This is because the major point of my posts
is to aid in the learning process.

Do you want Visual Studio 11 Express to be freely installable on Windows 7 and able to write regular C applications? Please vote for

It is Microsoft policy that we only ship MSI files, and not merge modules. This is because merge modules cannot be serviced properly. So to install, you will need to write a program that first installs the control installer, then install your controls.

DB:2.27:How Do I Go About Reporting A Directx 9c Installer Bug 8m

I've had this bug for years and never could figure out a way to report it in any hope of fixing it, cause it's either the software changes or it just won't ever run on my old machine.

Here's the issue: AMD k6 III+ (super socket 7 mainboard) type system, cpu doesn't have SSE and other more modern cpu instructions ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86_instruction_listings ). It's i586. So when you go and try to run "DirectX End-User Runtime

DB:2.24:Message Derreur Directx Et Impossibilit De Jouer 7p

Bonjour,

GeForce GT 540M

(Error initing form1System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E) at PolyMesh.Form1.InitializeComponent() at PolyMesh.Form1..ctor() Form1 Finished InitializeComponent. )

When I run the app in debug in VS 2010 I have verified that it is compiling for x86 and when I place the UserControl that uses DirectX on a new Windows Form I receive an error that the control: Could not load file or assembly MicrosoftDirectX.dll.
The references are showing up just fine in the project and the program is compiling fine on this computer.
I've installed the entire SDK for this version on the computer. I've also tried the DXWebSetup to try and repair the computer.

Any way to get this computer to use the Microsoft.DirectX.Dll, Microsoft.DirectX3D.dll, and Microsoft.DirectX3DX.dll from 9.00.1126?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I've downloaded and installed C# Express 2005 and the Feb '06 DirectX SDK.

I create a new
project, add a reference to DirectX 2.0.0.0 but everytime I try to
create a DirectInput keyboard it fails on the Aquire call. I've used
the same code that everyone seems to recommend:

keyb = new
Microsoft.DirectX.DirectInput.Device(SystemGuid.Keyboard);

        keyb.SetCooperativeLevel(this,
CooperativeLevelFlags.Background |
CooperativeLevelFlags.NonExclusive);

        keyb.Acquire();

Can anyone tell me why it's failing?

Thanks

Gareth

Depends what you want to do. If you just want a pointer to be able to point at and click things on the screen then regular windows events are usually adequate.
If you want the mouse to move and look like in a 1st person shooter then the events are not enough. e.g. mouse events stop when teh mointer hits the edge of the screen but you still want to track the mouse move. In this case you need to use DInput (or write a wrapper around the raw mouse events)

DB:2.22:Directx Eula For Directsetup Requirements c8

Hello All,

I am having trouble pin pointing when it is required to
display the DirectX End User EULA when using the DirectSetup library to
install the directx 9.0c dlls.

I will be requiring 9.0c to be previously installed and will be only
installing the required dlls for my application. I cannot seem to find
the truth behind whether or not I have to display the EULA for this
process.

The DirectX DXInstall example does not show a EULA.

This page: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb174600.aspx
which describes the process of using DirectSetup to install DirectX
components does not explicitly state that you must show a EULA. It says
follow the license agreements for redistributable code which only
states this:

DirectX Software Development Kit Redistributable Code
-------------------------------------------------------------
Redistributable Code is identified as all of the files in the following
Redist directory on the DirectX SDK CD/Download:

redist/

The following files in the above directory must be included in any distribution of the DirectX Runtime.

DSetup32.dll
DSetup.dll
DXSetup.exe
DXupdate.cab
dxdllreg_x86.cab

Can someone confirm this for me please? Thanks in advance.

DB:2.22:Directx Eula For Directsetup Requirements c8

I've not seen any requirement for YOU to show the EULA. If it was required the call to DXSetup would do it for you. PRovided you ship only the CABs and not the DX DLLs and you use DXSetup to perform the installation you are complying just fine.

Bonjour,

DB:2.19:Windows 7 Directx Para Jogos 7c

Aguardo novidades.
Abraços e até breve!

DB:2.18:Application Silent Failure On Startup - Redist Related? d3

I have several customers who state that our application (developed with visual studio 2k5 using MFC) simply does not start.  This isn't an isolated incident as we've had it happen multiple times now. There are no GUI error messagesThere are no system or application event log entriesOccurs on Vista and XPWe are using the VC++ 2005 Redistributable package (vcredist.exe, downloaded directly from MSDN) in our applications installer to ensure that the proper VC runtime is available.Under certain circumstances, reinstalling the redist manually using the MSI package seems to fix the problem momentarily, only for it to return on reboot. No other variables are known at this timeI have not had the opportunity to access the customers' machines to run depends or a debugger, so I am flying blind at this point.Has anyone ever heard of an MFC application failing to start silently with no indication as to why?  Has anyone experienced problems with the vs2k5 redist package not installing properly under some configurations?

DB:2.18:Application Silent Failure On Startup - Redist Related? d3

There could be multiple reasons. You need to debug. You have the right idea about running dependency walker and seeing what dependencies are required. Also remember that if you are requiring customers to run the vs2k5 redistributable package, that they must be running as a local administrator.Requiring customers to run the vs2k5 redist package is generally a bad idea, as you can now see first hand. You are better off to either remove all dependencies by giving them a statically linked application, or to build a proper MSI that installs the application properly.

I recently bought Civilization IV for my Windows Vista. After installing it, I clicked the "play" button, I received an error message regarding my DirectX version, and the message reads verbatim "This application has failed to start because D3DX9_32.DLL
was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem," (Re-installing doesn't actually fix anything). The game itself requires DirectX9.0c to play, which is included with the game. I have the required version of DirectX necessary to play the game,
however it still does not play.

I called the game manufacturer's tech line three times in search of answers. They, among other things, had me download the March 2009 DirectX 9 Redist, practically every form of DirectX 9, and a new driver, yet I receive the same error message when I re-install
the game.

I called Dell, my computer's manufacturer, and they couldn't give me any solid answers either, other than that installing a new driver probably wasn't essential. Dell couldn't help me.

Please, help would be intensely appreciated. Installing this game (which used to run fine on my XP four years ago) has proven to be an insanely frustrating process. If any other information about my PC is necessary, just ask and it shall be supplied. Thanks

However, I can't for the life of me work out how to set up/reference/import/include/whatever the XAudio2 and XACT libraries. All the dlls in the Aug2009 DX SDK say they can't be used as references in the project, and the only tutorials I can find are in C++ and use the .h headers, which, if I'm not mistaken, I can't use at all for VB. I'm tearing my hair out over this because there literally seems to be no way that I can find to use the new sound stuff in VB! I'm imagining MS wouldn't actually allow that to be the case, so if someone can tell me what basic thing I'm doing wrong, that would be hugely, hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

This programlets the user know if they have an outdated graphics card, installs the latest directx using directx webinstall, and installs the xna framework redist 1.0. I bundled it together inside a NSIS installer package because it was the easiest method i knew of. Not the most elegant way, i know. If anyone has a better solution, please let me know.

Sup ppl,
I did a clean install of Windows 7 on my crappy Dell D510 laptop, then installed the drivers for my onboard Intel 915GM video card. I then installed Brothers in Arms and Hidden Dangerous 2. When I started up both of the games, they ran very choppy, basically
unplayable. After some troubleshooting, I realised that if I installed the DirectX9.0c run-times (the offline install, using the web update doesn't help) on top of the DirectX11 that comes with Win 7, I started up both games again, and they ran practically
perfect.

Some time after that, I thought i'd go and install the Feb 2010 DirectX update to see if the games would run even better, but after the update, the games run choppy again. I mean, BiA runs at 6FPS on average, HD2 a little better at around 12FPS on average.

Since I didn't have much apps installed, I format the drive and did a clean install again, reinstalled those two games, they ran like ____, so I reinstalled the DX 9.0c redist, games ran fine, adn I made the mistake of trying the latest DirectX again, and
the games ran like ____. Again! Everytime I run the 9.0c update, the screen with the installation just flashes then I get a message saying the components are installed already.

I really don't want to reinstall the Win 7 again. I have tried System Restore (before the DX install), Windows Update, System File Checker, I have even looked in the 9.0c *.CAB files, searched the Windows folder for those files, took ownership of them then
deleted them, but the update still refuse to work. I am here to ask if any of the following is possible:

1. Revert to the original DirectX 11, so I can install DX 9.0c update.
2. Uninstall/Remove the DirectX (on the MS site, it says this is not possible and I should use System Restore. Wow)
3. Anything else anyone can suggest. Plz.

Also, I have read a ton of posts on the net saying you don't need DX 9 because DX 11 is backwards compatible, so on and so on, so please don't need to hear all that again.

Thanks :|

DB:2.13:Dxwebsetup Wierdness - Deployment With App kj

Hi, sorry to post this in this forum, I am unsure where to post it.
OK here is the thing.
I havea deployment problem. I am creating a setup with my app, created in VS 2005 Pro, using C#(.NET 2.0)

This app of mine requires DirectX runtime end user files, or the SDK but really the runtime files.
Now, during installation, I bundled in the dxwebsetup.exe. This executes fine.

2 main problems here already:
1) I want to silently install it without the need for user interaction, switch used to do this: /Q. When specifying this, it just seems to show then disappear instantly. I then find this next problem:
2) When running the dxwebsetup on its own (double click) or even within the app setup but without the /Q - it already says that the components are already installed - but they are not. Which leads me to also the next one:
3) When running the dxwebsetup on its own (double click) and the components are NOT installed, it will download them - this works 95% of the time(this is what I want always....but it's not working with the Setup created with the app in VS 2005). Going back to the directory which the application is installed in, it copies the dxwebsetup to that directory also (both the same files) and when double clicked, it gives me problem #2
But when running the file which was NOT included in the installer for this app, it works as it should.

Seems like the VS 2005 setup/installer is making the external file (dxwebsetup) act differently...?

This is running on a freshly built WS2003EE SP1 and all updates applied. NO other software at all.
Now, when I RE-download the dxwebsetup from the MS site - it works as it should (downloads components) but again when bundled with the app setup, I get the same problem even though these 2 dxwebsetup's are the same

I am confused - what is going on? Please can someone help the lost soul? :-)

DB:2.13:Dxwebsetup Wierdness - Deployment With App kj

I got a MDX1 app that is having installation problems. The target computer already got .Net 2.0 installed. And I ran DXSETUP.exe on the target computer from the DirectX SDK redist directory. But the app is just keep on crushing. I debugged and find out it throws an Application Error on creating new Device(). I eventually get the app running by installing the whole SDK on the target computer (about 500MB). I know cannot and I wouldn't want to redistribute the whole SDK. Any ideas how to solve this problem?

It would actually be _extremely_ useful for us to have this be a redistributable file.  We have downloadable games that require directX.  We would obviously prefer not to bundle the full 24MB DirectX download with our game, considering many of our users already have it.  On the other hand, we know they have an internet connection since they are about to play our multiplayer game.  Being able to embed this small app in our installer would be the best of both worlds.  We're now using the VS 2005 Bootstrapper to do just that for .NET 2.0.  I was really hoping to be able to do the same for DirectX.  Please consider making it redistrbutable!
Many thanks,

Hi,
I have been writing some 2D DirectX 10 tutorials but I can't seem to get them to work on other vista machines that don't have visual studio installed on them. I have already tried  for assistance over at gamedev.net but had no luck.

I started out with an error about the exe's side by side configuration being incorrect. I did a little research online and found that the solution to that problem was to set the setting for the manifest being embedded to no. Which then got me past that error and on to some missing files errors. Initially it asked for d3dx10_35.dll, which was solved by installing the latest dx redist package. Then I got another error about msvcr80.dll missing (NOTE: not MSVCRT80.dll) which after installing the vc++ redist packages (including sp1) still isn't working. Now after doing all this and it still not being solved I did some research on the microsoft team blog and found that the idea behind the manifest is to point to / kind of say where / what files are needed (dependancies). Though when the embed manifest setting is yes, I get the side by side configuration error problem and when I say no, I get the missing msvcr80.dll problem. So I am not sure where to go next? I have tried several machines with vista and I can't find any solution. Does anyone have any suggestions?Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

While running a game program, on occasion, the program gets interrupted by a blue screen with a very lengthy message about something failing and then my computer shuts down. When I restart it, I get the error reporting message, which I do send out, and

DB:2.12:Display Adaptervideo Card Not Supporting Directx cx

Hi Thahaseena,

I have a similar problem. I have a Dell desktop w/ Windows XP Home w/SP3. I've started having problems in the past week or two. The 1st time, my monitor just abruptly went black, and I couldn't get video back. I had to shutdown and restart using the
power switch on the computer. Upon restart, I got the error message from Windows telling me that my display driver stopped working normally, and that is was due to "Video card doesn't support required version of DirectX. This version of Windows requires
video card that supports DirectX 9.0." It is an older PC, but it serves me fine other than this new problem. I don't play games, and don't think I need high level video. Another day, the display went into some alternative mode in which I could barely read
writing, with the error message about the display driver not working. Again, I had to restart, and then things were OK. Today, it happened again with the bad display. I restarted and things were fine for a while. Then, PC froze with normal display. I had
to turn off at with the PC power button. When I turned back on, I got no display. I didn't know if my hard drive died or what. I waited a while, unplugged everything, took out my video card to identify it, then tried to restart. Thankfully, it started,
and has been normal for several hours. I found out about DirectX diagnostic tool, and ran it. It found no problems. I have DirectX 9.0c. I have a 32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra card. The tool says the driver is WHQL Logo'd. I tested DirectDraw and Direct3D
acceleration, and all was OK. I don't want to buy a new video card. I think all is OK except for some problems with DirectX 9.0, which I'm guessing was probably installed recently with Windows automatic updates. Can I revert to an earlier version of DirectX,
or disable whatever function is causing these display problems?

Thanks very much,
Scotty

Buongiornon a tutti,

-2147220891
VFW_E_UNSUPPORTED_STREAM
Cannot play back the file: the format is not supported.

I keep getting this error message when installing:
A cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted. Please verify the Cryptographic Services are enabled and the cabinet file certificate is valid.

Can somebody tell me what is wrong and how to fix this.

DB:2.11:Error When Installing Dxwebsetup aj

Hi BionicGear83,

You may first check if the Cryptographic service is started and set to automatic.
To check the service
1. Click on Start
2. In the start Search box type Services
3. Right Click on - RUN AS ADMIN
Check if the below mentioned services has the mentioned status and start up type.
Cryptographic Service StartedAutomatic

Also check the dependency services that are required for System Restore Service to run.
To check that double click on the service and click on the dependency tab.

If that is fine you may try to re-register few .dll files and check if that resolves the issue. To resolve this behavior, re-register the Softpub.dll, Wintrust.dll, Initpki.dll, Dssenh.dll, Rsaenh.dll, Gpkcsp.dll, Sccbase.dll, Slbcsp.dll,
Mssip32.dll, and Cryptdlg.dll files.

To do so, follow these steps:
1. Click on
Start
2. In the Start search box, type
cmd, right on it click and select ‘Run as Administrator.
3. At the command prompt, type
regsvr32 softpub.dll, and then press ENTER.
4. Hit Enter when you receive the message that
DllRegisterServer in Softpub.dll succeeded
5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for the following files: Wintrust.dll, Initpki.dll, Dssenh.dll, Rsaenh.dll, Gpkcsp.dll, Sccbase.dll, Slbcsp.dll, Mssip32.dll, and Cryptdlg.dll.
6. Type exit and then press ENTER to quit Command Prompt.
Now check if you are able to install dxwebsetup.

Hope this information is helpful.

Is this because I am using a debug version of dx which is not installed by the end user dx? In that case why is there still only Microsoft.Directx.Direct3D 1.0.2902.0 v1.1 4322 on the machine which has both the dec sdk and the dec redist?

In fact it seems that DirectX SDK is not required. You need to have last Windows SDK (7.0) and many samples refer toDSHOWBASECLASSES environment variable in their project configs.
By default it is set like this :DSHOWBASECLASSES=C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0\Samples\Multimedia\DirectShow\BaseClasses
I often start by addingC:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0\Samples\multimedia\directshow\baseclasses\BaseClasses.vcxproj project to the sample solution and add it as dependency of the sample project. Then make sure that your project seestrmbasd.lib/strmbase.lib and strmiids.lib output of BaseClasses project and all the headers which are in$(DSHOWBASECLASSES).(I'm using VS2008 and VS2010RC on same machine, switching between, everything works ok)

I read the reviews. Dont let them bother you. Yeah the book could be more detailed. But I bought it and used it and now I am progressing and have a nice DirectX 3d app in vb.net. The book will get you going on using directx in vb.net. Then the SDK makes better sense. As far as I can tell it is the only book available for this.
Also look at the SDK VB.NET samples in the folder DirectX 9 SDk/Samples/vb.net/direct3d especially the meshes. Run the sample program .exe thing in the folder DirectX 9 SDk/Samples/samplebrowser it takes you to the same samples via a menu. Not games but again will show you detailed vb.net code. Much more detailed than the book, if you can make sense of it... but your an expert so you should handle it. :)
Cant tell you about express, but I am using just the VB.net version and it works. Not sure if that is same as express?

I keep trying to use DXwebsetup and I keep getting the error message: An internal system error occurred. Please refer to DXerror.log and DirectX.log in your windows folder to determine the problem. I did but I couldn't make sense of it, I have also tried
doing a clean boot and installing the setup and also tried running the setup as an administrator with the same results. I've uploaded the two logs to skydrive to see if any one could make sense of them and help me out.

Here is the shared link. Thanks

DB:2.10:Cannot Launch Rumble Fighter And Also Getting Directx Error When I Boot The Operating Sytem. zk

Original title: Directdraw and Direct3D
So, I upgraded(loosely termed) my desktop from Windows XP, and things went awry. I was playing a game called Rumble Fighter, and it used to run on said desktop just fine. Now, after the upgrade i'm having all sorts of problems. Simply put, my game will no
longer launch. When I try to boot it, it say Direct X.. (and a bunch of illegible characters). So I did some research, and I ran a DX diagnostic on my computer. It seems that with directx11, my computer no longer has DirectDraw nor Direct3D available. So,
I try to get it back, and install the dxwebsetup program. Though the installer installed just fine, it refuses to launch..ever. So, I just tried to manually install Direct x 9.0c (which my computer had before), which failed.
My graphics card is an ATI Radeon 9200. My card is allegedly updated to it's latest version, so that's eliminated, and the ATI catalyst program seems to have compatibility issues with windows 7, so that's...pretty bad too. Any other ideas?

DB:2.10:Cannot Launch Rumble Fighter And Also Getting Directx Error When I Boot The Operating Sytem. zk

Hi,
1) What is the exact/complete error message you get when boot the operating system?
2) Is the issue specific to the game?

You may try to install the game in compatibility mode. Refer the following article.

DB:2.10:Cant Find Directshow Samples In My Sdk Root 8j

From a lot of links on the www I was directed to find directshow samples in
The Microsoft DirectShow samples are included with the
Windows SDK . They are located under the path
[SDK Root] \Samples\Multimedia\DirectShow.

But I can't find these samples under my SDK root. Even the DirectX SDK root, doesn't have directshow samples. Do I need to install something extra to install directshow samples?

This is my directory tree -

Microsoft SDKs
Windows
v5.0
v6.0
Bin
Bootstrapper
FxCop
Include
Lib

And the tree for DirectX SDK
Microsoft Direct SDK (June 2010)
Developer Runtime
Documentation
Extras
Include
Lib
Redist
Samples
C
Media
SampleBrowser
system
Utiliies

Under the samples directory all I can see are the directx samples. No directshow ones. I can compile my own code from the command line, but I want to have a look at the sdk samples for dshow.

Hello,

Recently built a new PC and tried installing Titanfall through Origin. Got several installation errors, here is my history:

1. Direct X Error at 20% installation - Followed the instructions of removing cab files within "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Titanfall\__Installer\directx\redist". Once completed, the installation continued.

2. After the completion of the installation. Selected play on Titanfall and received "The program can't start because D3D_compiler_43.dll is missing from your computer"

3. Followed a couple of suggestions online and tried running the Direct X End-user runtime web installer and got "An Internal system error occurred. Please refer to DXerror.log and DirectX.log in your Windows

DB:2.10:Windows 7 Directx 11 Prototype Reinstalled It 4 Times, And Still I Get An Error Xinput1_3.Dll Is Missing After Launching The Game x7

Initial error is in the title.
Running Windows 7 64-bit
DirectX 11 (dxdiag.exe confirms no error)
I tried to update... by installing dxwebsetup (as a lot of sites suggest) but installation fails refers to DXError which says:

[06/29/11 07:59:55] module: DXWSetup(Mar 30 2011), file: dxwsetup.cpp, line: 229, function: CDXWSetup::InitInstallEngine

CDXWSetup::InitInstallEngine() failed.

Also, I randomly opened DirectX.txt which said:

DB:2.10:Dxviewer.Exe - Unhandled Exception 1p

Hey MSDN Community,
I got the following installed:
Windows Server 2003 R2 w/ SP2 RC1 (Fully Updated via MS Update)VS2005VC# ExpressDirectX SDK (Dec 2006)DirectX Runtime (Installed the Redist from the SDK)XNA GSE (Non-Beta)
The problem is, every time I run DirectX Viewer either by its shortcut under the Start menu or by clicking a .X or .FX in Windows Explorer, I get a message saying:
"An unhandled win32 exception occured in DXViewer.exe [3396]."
...insidea Visual Studio JIT Debugger window.
Any ideas why guys?
Much is appreicated, Thanks!

DB:2.10:Dxviewer.Exe - Unhandled Exception 1p

Ok, so I read the other post about the sameissue and assumed thereason/explanation was true, which, it was.
My SolutionI DL'ed the October 06 SDK and went through installation just enough for WinZip to extract all the files to "Local Settings". I then renamed the Dec 06 version of DXViewer to DXViewer10.exe then I copied the Oct 06 version into Utilities so that the Start menu shortcut would reference the Oct 06 version, and then everything was good.
MS/DX Team, I believe you should put both versions of DXViewer.exe inside the next SDK (assuming Feb 07), it'll spare alot of people of this issue.
