    DB:4.40:Hdcp Authorization Problem With Denon 4310ci 1p

I just bought a Denon 4310CI and also asked the Comcast a few weeks before to change my Cable Box to support HDMI connection. I have connected the cable box -- Denon Receiver -- Samsung TV, and when I turn on the system a message "HTCP authuriztion problem, and use the YPbPr connection", athe picture goes away and getting the green screen, however I hear the sound.

I have check with the differant expensive cables to make sure is not the HDMI cable issue. My Sony PS3, and DVD player work fine through the receiver, however the cable box does not.

I can use component cable between cable box and receiver, or directly go from cable box to TV, and either case works fine, and I would like to know if I can make it work using HDMI cable.

Do you know how I can resolve this issue?

I had the coax cable going directly from the wall to my TV, but then started noticing the digital channels (2.1, 5.1) were disappearing. Comcast support chat told me I would need to lease a cable box in order to get them back. I went to the store and they gave me a Motorola DCX-3200.

I plugged the coax from the wall into the cable box, and then used HDMI to get to my Denon AVR-1612 receiver. However, I do not see or hear anything on my TV. I tried connecting the HDMI directly from the cable box to my TV, and it does work.

Does anybody know why going through my receiver doesn't work? Is it related to HDCP?

Hi,I have just bought a Denon avr x2000 amp/receiver and attempted to use my android Nexus4 phone to context via the Spotify app. The problem is no matter what I do it won't find the receiver as a recognised device. If I use the Denon Remote App I can get music via spotify but the interface is vastly inferior to the actual spotify app. What is stopping this connection? There is obviously nothing wrong with the network/connection as it works via the Denon app. It's very disappointing as it's one of the reasons I went for the denon. Any advice would be really appreciated. Many thanks

What I've heard that Onkyo released firmware upgrade to their receivers for Spotify connect support.

And it's just not for the new models but from 2012 to present.

So I got excited and plugged Ethernet cable to my x4000 and checked for new firmware upgrades. None...

Then a little Google and found this...

    Not cool at all.

I have a PC with a G33 integrated graphics controller connected to a Denon receiver via the HDMI output. The Denon receiver has an HDMI switcher and is connected to a Sharp flat screen TV. When I select the Denon input to switch the PC to the TV, set the monitor resolution on the PC to be 1080i, all works fine. If I switch the Denon receiver to a different input, and then switch back later to the PC, sometimes the PC will return to the 1080i output, but sometimes it has switched back to a lower resolution. I'm not exactly sure what the Denon receiver does on the HDMI port connected to the PC when that port is not selected. What I would like to do is to lock Intel G33 to be at a resolution and not have it automatically switch. Wondering if, first, I'm making any sense, and second, if anyone has any suggestions?

    Thanks!

I have seen this reported before. This doesn't happen on all systems, but it appears to be a bugbetween some drivers and HDMIreceivers with Intel's Persistence functionality.

Try CTRL-ALT-DELETE to open Windows Task Manager, click on the Processes tab, highlight igfxpers.exe, and click the End Process button.

See if this fixes the matter. If it does, you can make the fix permanent by editing the registry, finding

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun

    and deleting the "Persistence" key.

    Good evening,

we just bought a new Philips Smart TV 6158. I can not connect my Sony Xperia SP (Android Version 4.1.2) to my tv via Miracast.

Trying the option under Xperia--Mirror Display the phone finds my tv but cant connect to the TV.

Following Error: "Could not turn on Screen mirroring. The output device is not ready or does not support HDCP."

After researching I got to know that the Philips TV does not support HDCP.

There is a option to disable the HDCP controlling on the Sony Xperia SP.

    https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=52985

On this Bug thread you can see, that there is indeed a option in the Dev. tools.

    http://s21.postimg.org/vls38k707/1363766111309.jpg

But I can not find this option on my Sony device.

The Philips Support says that the Wifi Miracast Standard does not require the use of HDCP and the phone must have a option to control HDCP requirement with Miracast.

I appreciate any help. Thank you very much.

The answer I received was I should use the red, blue, green cable. this answer is unacceptable. I don't know about anybody else but I think you get a better picture with the HDMI connection. I think there are MANY problems with the FIOS system and Verizon is trying to blame everything but their system. Have tried HDMI and optical audio. Anyone successful getting sound in this configuration? ATV doesn't seem to be the problem as HDMI directly to TV works - both audio and video. HDMI directly to Denon passes video to TV but no sound. Tried optical audio adding optical sound being sure the Denon was set up for video HDMI and optical audio via manual set-up. I've also tried taking optical audio from the Sony TV to the Denon. This latter configuration worked for a while but doesn't anymore. Have tried changing the ATV to 16 bit (from auto) as one suggested - no joy. Can't think of anything else. I've walked through set-up with a Denon tech on the phone (they are outstanding by the way) and he couldn't think of anything to try after we determined the HDMI from Apple TV was working directly input to the TV. We didn't try optical input as he didn't think that would help. I gave it a shot based on what I had read on this forum. Thanks for any input that might help.

    Hi,

I had bought this amazing Denon receiver that has this thing called Airplay. Basically I should be able to go to my iphone and select a song to play and then seemlessly have it played over the denon connected to my home theater system. Anyways, it didn't work.

I called Denon and complained and they said it's probably my router. I thought, how could it be the router? I called verizon and they said it must be a problem with the Denon. Then I called Apple and they blamed the router. Ok so 2 against the router, 1 against Denon....

IT WAS THE ROUTER!!!! I found a forum saying to disable IGMP proxy on the verizon router. Once I did this everything worked great.

    2 questions:

1.) is disabling the IGMP proxy going to have any negative effects??

2.) why does verizon provide such terrible routers? I want an N network. If I buy my own router can I still use it, or am I stuck with verizon's router?

I bought a Denon AV receiver 8 months ago and hooked up via HDMI cables from DirecTV DVR to Denon to TV set. Also have BluRay player with HDMI connection to Denon to TV. I have whole house DVR setup and internet connectivity on Denon as well. Everything worked fine for 8 months until yesterday. Nothing was changed on the configuration other than a week ago I installed a new router on my network (but I do have internet connectivity to Denon and DVR and everything there works fine).

Something happened over the last week that caused the HDMI signal to stop transmitting to the TV. If I hook up the DVR directly to the TV via HDMI, it works. So it looks like the DVR is outputting on the HDMI port. As soon as I connect through the Denon I have "no signal". Not sure if I noticed this before, but it appears that the Denon is reading the signal from the DVR as "ana" which means analog? Is that why? Also the BluRay player does not display HDMI signal. The component cables I have hooked up work fine. The Denon webite says the order of turning equipment on affects the sequencing of HDMI and HDCP, therefore sometimes creating a conflict? They say to turn Denon on first, then DVR, then TV. I tried all with no success (and I never had to worry about that sequence in the past). The Denon site also says the equipment has the latest firmware upgrades. I also reset the Denon microprocessor to factory defaults to "reboot". I unplugged all, reset the DVR, unplugged TV, started all over again, changed the HDMI cables themselves. Still have the problem. I find it difficult to believe that my 8 month old $1,100 Denon is defective in reading the HDMI signal so I'm thinking it must be something with the DVR signal output. Is there some firmware upgrade needed on the DVR? How do I do that? Any other ideas? Very frustrated.... I've spent hours this weekend on the Denon and Directv sites to figure out. Thanks!

I am now on my second 3400x HD/DVR that is doing the same thing. I have it connected to a Denon AVR (acting as HDMI router), and Toshiba HD display. When I turn the system on the set top does the HDCP "handshake" (DUI is displayed in window) then resets the HDMI output to 480P in 4:3 aspect ratio. I can access the DCT3400x secret menu and manually reset the output to natural, 1080P, 1080i, or 720P and it is fine as long as I leave the set top on. Manually setting the output takes several minutes. Turn it off and when I turn it back on it resets again. The Motorola 6300 HD/DVR set top I had before didn't do this. I also have a Sony DVD Player connected to the Denon AVR and when I select it as the source it displays 1080P properly. Same cables and set up that worked before with the DCT 6300. I bypassed the denon and it works fine. I've been through every setting option in the Denon I can find and nothing seems to correct it. Does anyone know of any bugs? I know there is a setting in HDCP that limits the number of devices in a chain for the Authentication Key Exchange. Is this possibly the problem? Any recommendations?

    DB:2.34:Dct 3400x Defaulting To 480p kz

This issue is very common on certain brands of AV receivers using a Motorola HDMI box, and seems workse on the DCX3400's. Since there is no reason for the cable box to output in 1080P, you should set it for native. There is no HD programming sent down in 1080P, just 720P and 1080I. You can leave the 1080P settings unchecked.

Set it up for native and try what works, and leave the DVR on all the time. Turning off the box only turns off the video circuit and only saves a couple watts of electricity.

I've seen the DCX3400's default to a low resolution on TV's connected directly to a HDTV even without a AVR in the mix.

I know this topic has been posted elsewhere, but I'd like to get it out in the open.
My problem is that I am unable to purchase content from my Apple TV because of the "HDCP is not supported by your HDMI connection. Use the component video connection to watch the content" error. I'd like to clarify that I am using a television that is HDCP capable it is a Sony KDE-37XS955. I would like to avoid using component cables as I'd have to fish them up through my living room wall. If anyone has come up with a solution, please post below. Thanks.

DB:2.34:No Hdcp On Hdcp Capable Tv mj

I did some research on this and it was fascinating to discover that all of these connectivity issues go back to big corporations and the all mighty dollar. Big surprise, huh?! Intel is already getting a nice chunk of change from Apple since the switch from Power PC. Now it seems that for Apple to make their devices HDCP compliant, they will likely have to pay Intel even more $ for the use of this technology since Intel owns the rights/patents to it. Check this link out for more info on HDCP:

    http://www.digital-cp.com/

Also, this is a bit of a segue, but it relates to this topic of HDCP:

If you want to add a Blu Ray drive to your Apple hardware (internal or external), forget about it for now, especially if you want to watch Blu Ray content. Commercial Blu Ray content driven through HDMI (which is HDCP compliant by nature) will not play on any Apple equipment right now. Think about it... wouldn't Apple have had Blu Ray drives as a build to order options on Mac Pros and higher end iMacs/MBPs by now? Apple doesn't want to fork over any more of their hard earned $ to Intel, just to have the privilege of being HDCP compliant, and I don't blame them a bit.

It is a shame that large corporations out there continue to dictate policy and the way things are done. For now, it seems that you have to have a non HDCP VGA/DVI port or a Component Video port on your TV to view purchased/rented HD content from Apple TV. Until HDCP is somehow hacked, or until Apple comes up with their own plan to circumvent this problem (maybe come out with their own proprietary connectors to drive secure HD content), we're all stuck.

If you dig even deeper on this, I've seemed to get a strong buzz that the MPAA eventually wants this technology implemented with all HD content going forward to eliminate hacks of their works.

If anyone finds out any more info on this, I'm sure that everyone out there would be very interested to hear more, especially if you are considering the purchase of a new TV, Apple TV, Apple desktop, or a new MBP/MB.

If this evident feud lasts long enough, we might even see the return of the Power PC (Powerbook G5 and Power Mac G6 anyone?)! Let's keep our fingers crossed...

DB:2.34:Sound To Denon Receiver Via Thunderbolt Does Not Work 8z

Hello all, I have a MBP running OS X Lion with thunderbolt technology. Its a June 2011 model. I am trying to connect it to my home theater to playback movies, etc. and am running into some issues. I can get both video and audio if I connect the Minidisplayport to HDMI cable directly to the Sony TV (in fact, tested it with two different TVs) and it works. However, connecting it to Denon receivers (I have two in different parts of the house) I cannot get the audio to playback. The picture is fine - I can do display mirroring, etc. Clicking on the Sound preference setting, I see an option listed (depending on which such as Denon AVAMP and HDMI is selected as the output). But no sound - the internal speakers continue to play. I have tried clicking, double-tapping, etc. but to no avail. Is there a compatibility problem with Denon receivers. The two receivers I am using are Denon AVR 2307CI and Denon AVR 3310CI. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

DB:2.34:Sound To Denon Receiver Via Thunderbolt Does Not Work 8z

haha ok. look at it like this, you're macbook pro is outputting the sound and video via HDMI right? it's literrally sending information from itself to another device. Imagine, if you will, that we are in a a chocolate factory. everything from the factory is being output from the machine and into the workers hands to put into a box or wrapping. Those workers then output the material to boxes and those boxes eventually end up in the hands of a consumer. The physical act of inputting the chocolate from factory to mouth is like your computer to your receiver. So your receiver, is inputting or receiving the signal to then output from it's own speakers. But it still needs the signal, the chocolate, for it play anything. So you are trying to input hdmi INTo the receiver. Where it plays your media. The fact that it outputs audio from your HDMI is just an added bonus to record from or connect to another receiver. In any case, I'm glad it worked and I'm glad I was able to help. I don't mean to be condescending, some people like hearing things in a different way.

Just purchased an ATV2. Connected to a Denon 2312CI receiver via HDMI (new cable, high quality) and from there connected to our Pioneer PRO-920HD TV, again via HDMI (again, new cable, high quality). The ATV2 works great when accessing our iMac libraries through home sharing (iTunes music, Aperture photos, etc.). Tonight tried to rent a movie for the first time through the iTunes store, and received the "standard" and, as I'm learning, "typical" dreaded HDCP error message. Read the forums, and tried all the work arounds and tricks (new cables, factory reset, reboot, turn off TV, sequencing turning off TV and ATV2, etc., probably all the tricks including spinning in circles three times in front of the home entertainment center with my right finger on the tip of my nose). Nothing worked. Then tried to access Netflix through ATV2, same outcome (HDCP error message), same problem. To isolate the problem to devices, I then tried to access Netflix through our Sony Blue-Ray BDP S570. Same connection set-up as described above. (BDP connects to Denon via new HDMI, and then to Pioneer TV via another new HDMI. It worked; accessed Netflix with no problem. The Pioneer PRO-920HD TV and the Denon 2312CI receiver are both HDCP compliant. (The manuals and web research contain language to that effect.) So, I'm concluding that the ATV2 is broken, i.e., flawed.Does anyone have any other work arounds or any thoughts other than drive to the Apple Store, return the device, get a new one and start all over?

    DB:2.33:Hdcp Error Message mz

I learned my lesson. I decided to approach the problem by substituting HDMI cables. I used three, all purchased "cheap" through the internet, and none worked. Then decided to use a Monster HDMI cable that I just purchased at Best Buy. That HDMI cable worked. The lesson I learned is to not blindly listen to the many "experts" who told me to buy the cheap stuff on the internet, which allegedly work just as well as Monster. Perhaps they do, sometimes, but I should have checked the fine print with those purchases to find out if those cables were not only reliable, but HDCP-compliant. I bet the ones that did not work were not so compliant, and perhaps didn't "seat" snugly into the in and out ports of the devices.i just set up a new home theater system, and had three instances in that process of HDMI cable failure while doing so, in addition to this Apple TV2 issue. All those failed cables were very inexpensive ones that I purchased on the internet, blindly without doing thorough research into what I was buying.

I just added a Denon 2310 Receiver to my set up. The unit is supposed to have a HDMI pass thru on stand by. The video passes through, but the audio doesn't. I went through the instructions and set the receiver to TV for sound and turned on the HDMI control. When I put the Denon in stand by the picture and sound go off, a few seconds later the picture and sound on the TV come on for a second or two. The picture and sound go off again, a few seconds later the picture comes on, but no sound. I swapped out the Denon with another to see if it was the receiver. I swapped out the HDMI cables. Is this a problem with my QIP6416? I keep seeing things about the 1.7 software, is that one of the fixes? HELP!!!

    MikeT wrote:

Not to change the subject too much, but if I purchase a receiver with "pass-through", does this mean that the signals will pass-through to the tv when the receiver is turned off? Or do you have to have the receiver turned on for this to work?

    Thank you!!!!

That depends on the receiver and if is has a stand-by function that actually passes the HDMI through even if the receiver is off. Some brands do have this function. For Denon receivers, you can set the receiver to go into standby when it is switched off, in which case the HDMI connection remains active as a pass through. (In this case, however, the power consumption of the receiver is only slightly less than when it is actuall in the "On" mode, indicating that most of the circuitry in the receiver remains on to allow the pass through to occur.)

DB:2.30:Denon Avr-2310ci Compatibility With Directv Hmc Hr34/700 sm

I recently upgraded to the HR34. My problem is that the HR34 won't connect via HDMI to my Denonreceiver. I had no issues with the HDMI connection with my older Directv receiver. Right now I have to bypass the Denon and connect my TV directly to the HR34. I contacted Denon support and this was their response:

What you are experiencing is an HDMI syncing issue. Connecting directly to the television uses what is called an HDMI send and sync connection, and when you connect using a receiver it is called HDMI repeating technology, and as such bypassing the receiver doesn't actually tell us much.

The HDCP handshake is critical to components working together properly in an HDMI/HDCP enabled system. Problems tend to arise in two areas of implementation, and nearly always in the source device. First, sources need to support an HDCP function called authenticate forever. In other words, the source must consistently send a signal inquiring if its HDMI input is selected, even while another input is in use. If a source device times out and stops inquiring, an HDCP authentication failure will probably result. Second, source devices need to properly implement the HDCP repeater function if theres going to be a repeater device installed in the system, i.e., an A/V receiver. Otherwise, switching between source devices can result in an HDCP authentication failure. Once again, afirmware upgrade to the source device will probably solve the problem. There are a couple of options we can suggest. You can contact the cable/sat provider and they may be able to provide you with what's called a repeater flag firmware update. If that is not available through your cable/sat company we would recommend connecting using component video and digital optical in place of the HDMI. This will provide the same video and audio quality as the HDMI and will not result in the HDMI syncing issues of the type you have experienced.

Is there arepeater flag firmware update available?

Set up - DC3400x (the black one with red/white/blue leds). feeding Denon AVR as HDMI router, to Toshiba HD display - all HDMI connections. Also have a DVD as separate input on the Denon AVR. I received the Motorola bax as a replacement for one of the older/bigger 6200 boxes that incidentally worked fine. The DVD player also works fine through the Denon AVR.

The problem is on power up of the system the HDCP handshake (DUI momentarily in the set top display) forces the set top to default to 480P HDMI output in 4:3 aspect ratio. I can go into the "secret set up menu" and select "Native, 1080i,1080P, 720P and it works fine for as long as I leave the set top on. If I turn it off, when I turn it back on it defaults back to the 480P settings. I have been through the Denon menu and set up thoroughly and tried every option available but it has no impact. It is very annoying to have to spend 3 minutes setting the set top up for proper output every time I use it. Note again the previousolder Motorola set top didn't do this and provided the proper output all the time. If I bypass the Denon direct into the Toshiba the set top doesn't reset. There is a setting in HDCP that limits the number of devices that can be chained together during the Authorization and Key Exchange (AKE) process that may be the culprit. Does anyone know how Comcast, or Motorola sets this?

    DB:2.29:Still Having Problems With Motorola 3400x 8k

few things. comcast boxes dont play nice with av receivers through hdmi, most people run an optical audio calbe for audio from the box and hdmi from the box to tv. Also turning the box off saves no energy as its just in standby mode using the same energy.if you do both these things it should solve your issue.

But, of the ones that have been downloaded - I am finding that it is asking me to authorize my account every time I want to play one of the files. I have tried what has been suggested online about deauthorizing and reauthorizing and so forth. The end result seems to be the same. When I do authorize, the playback is nothing but a black or gray screen with no sound. I suspect this is due to a message that I received one time (and only once) when I tried to play back one of the files that said:

"This movie cannot be played because a display that is not authorized to play protected movies is connected. Try disconnecting any displays that are not HDCP authorized."

I am running the Mac Mini with an HDMI cable from the Mini to a Denon AV reciever, and from the receiver I'm running an HDMI cable from the receiver to the TV (which is a Samsung TV I purchased in January 2009). On this scenario, I get a black screen on playback. When I plug the Mini straight into the Samsung TV using an HDMI cable I get a gray screen on playback. I looked on the internet for help regarding this issue and it is my understanding that (correct me if I'm wrong) that standard definition content does not have HDCP restrictions. So I have tried the standard definition files to the same results.

As far as I know, the Samsung TV is HDCP compliant and the instruction manual for my Denon AV Receiver states that it is HDCP compliant. I thought that HDMI in and of itself is HDCP compliant and I have found nothing on the internet to state otherwise. I thought the HDCP issue only applied to DVI connections only.

I have only received the HDCP message once. However, I receive the authorization message everytime I try to play back a file. I assume there's a relationship but maybe not.

    Thank you for your assistance.
    --

For the record, my receiver (which appears to be not the problem since it's happening when I go straight into the TV) is a Denon AVR-889 and my TV is a Samsung LN52A750 (believe it's a 2008 model, I think.)

Since yesterday I have tried a few things, here is what I have tried:

    1) Different HDMI cable.
    2) Different HDMI port on TV.
    3) Tried a DVD in the Mac Mini. It worked.

I do not have the ability to use DVI on my TV. I also dont have a VGA Adapter.

According to the Denon manual, the AVR-889 has HDCP compliance. I do not see anything in the Samsung manual, but everything on the internet suggests that it's HDCP compliant. In addition to this, I use a Playstation 3 and I have purchased Lost Season 6 in HD. It plays back successfully, and from what I understand Playstation 3 content is HDCP protected and will not play if your setup is not HDCP compliant.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thank you.

DB:2.29:Mac Mini, Hdmi, And Hdcp Issues j3

Mysteries of mysteries. I took my macmini (new box, btw) to the Apple store - they tested it, no sign of the error. No sign of the error since I plugged it back in.

The consensus - between the Apple store guys, an Apple tech I called, and a long-time Apple owner - this error should only occur if (a) your are trying to use an older analog display; (b) an off-brand television; or (c) using some other non-approved HDMI (non HDCP compliant) connection. By the way, the cable came up in all conversations - surprised to find out that not all HDMI cables are created equal. I bought my HDMI cable from the Apple store - so again, this was not an issue.

If you are lucky, the error may show up once and never appear again. Maybe you'll have to pony up for an Apple approved cable. I wish I had something more definitive to offer here. I'll come back if the error rears its ugly little head again.

    Tally Ho!

I know my setup may be a bit crazy, but here is what I have:

    1. Intel Mac Mini running Windows 7 Enterprise on bootcamp
    2. DVI to HDMI cable connected to my Denon AVR 2310CI A/V receiver
    3. From Denon I have HDMI output connected to a cat5 ethernet balun
    4. The other end of the balun outputs HDMI to my TV

Now, when I log in to the mac OS X on my mac mini, the display shows just fine.

When I log in to Win7 I only see the display showing "Starting Windows" and then the display goes blank.

I connected the mac mini directly via the dvi-to-HDMI cable to the other HDMI port on my TV, all is well.

Is there something in Windows 7 (HDCP or some such restriction, maybe??) that is not allowing Windows to be displayed via the balun?

The fact that I see "Starting Windows" tells me that it may have something to do with Windows 7 after it boots, like some checks that are performed after the appropriate drivers are loaded?

    Any help is appreciated.

    DB:2.28:Windows 7 From Mac Mini Via Dvi-To_Hdmi Cat5 Ethernet Balun 7s

I tried clean booting and no difference. The problem seems to be that the picture is not taking up the whole screen and instead seems to be limited to a smaller box within the screen. Within that box, it looks like you cannot go more than 1280x960 (that
is what I am able to get as resolution now).

Any idea how I can make the picture display on the entire screen? (maybe that is the answer to the problem?)

Well that is not very complicated, just follow these steps=HomeSettingsAudio Settings

    Audio(HDMI)=Auto

    DSD=off (unless you play SACD)

    BD audio mix=off

    Dolby/dts=Bitstream

Hi there, I hope this is the right place for my question.

I have old home theater system which is not HDCP compatible with my old HD digital box, so I always connect the box directly to my TV. I have had this issue from the beginning, but it is becoming more annoying as I hook more devices such as PC and consoles, making the system much more complex. (I have to configure audio and display separately everytime I change the source, and it is almost impossible for my parents)

Anyways, my question is, can new receiver help me to switch the sources with touch of a button?

When I read the specifications on new receivers they don't seem to show anything about HDCP.

What should I look for to avoid HDCP problem with receiver?

Most new receivers are HDCP compliant (I'm not aware of any with HDMI ports that are not), I have used a lot of effort avoiding HDCP the past few years too lol

What I find interesting is no discussion as to WHY the need for a firmware update that ultimately broke a fundamental component (HDMI) of their product.

This is akin to Dell or HP coming out with a new model laptop and deciding to monkey with the WiFi interface. Then when people complain, suggestions pour in like, "It's no big deal, just take your (portable) laptop to where your router is,connect an ethernet cable, and sit there whenever you need internet access."

I cant figure out how to force VUDU-to-Go to stream SD video so I can only use it to watch my SD VUDU content (which is like 5 pieces of Content), but while you cant tell it to play SD content specifically, iftry to watch something HD or HDX on vudu.com itll error out prompt you with an option to watch it in SD.

So... basically I can only watch my VUDU content on my Dell V8P while streaming from Vudu.com, which is better than nothing, but Im curious if theres something I can update/configure to prevent HDCP error #3339 from happening? Why does the Dell V8P even have these HDCP issues?

Hello all, perhaps someone has this figured out.
I connected my new ATV via HDMI to DVI on my Samsung 42" DLP. The TV has one DVI input that up to now was occupied by a Directv HD receiver using a DVI to HDMI cable.

With ATV I figured I need an HDMI switch. I purchased a switch from monoprice: http://www.monoprice.com/products/search.asp?keyword=4088x=0y=0

The switch claims to be HDCP compliant. The switch works great except when trying to rent a movie from iTunes the dreaded message "This content requires HDCP for playback. HDCP isn't supported by your HDMI connection. Use component video conection to veiw content."
When I have checked the settings with the HDMI through the switch it says HDMI (HDCP off)
When I connect directly to the TV with HDMI the setting indicates HDMI
So, obviously the switch is not "talking or handshaking" the HDCP from the source to the TV.

Has anyone had any luck with this?
Monoprice replied to me with this:
    Hey Steve,
The issue you are dealing with is known as HDCP compatibility errors. Often solutions for this type of problem exists in trying a different type of splitter, such as 3x1 or the 5x1 switchers. I will inform the returns department regarding your request. Please be patient.

When I change channels I lose the picture and sound. The HDMI indicator on the Denon is not illuminated.

I can change the input on the Denon and change it back to the Directv input and the HDMI is lit and picture and sound return.

Prior to 0x5c9 this was not an issue, 0x5cb fixed this problem, but now with 0x5cd the problem has re-appeared.

The HDMI cable is not an issue, I changed it

The HDMI inputs on the Denon are not an issue, I have connected the HR21 to different inputs with the same result

After 0x5c9, I swapped the HR21 with a HR23/700 and the problem was non existent, however when the HR21 when re-connected to the Denon receiver - picture and sound loss when the channel was changed.

Again 0x5cb resolved the issue, 0x5cd brought it back.

This is quite obviously a handshake issue and short of permanently swapping the HR21 and 23 or calling to see if they could replace the HR21 with a different model (which isn't very likely) are there any suggestions. The equipment in the theater room is not easily accessible and I feel I should not have to move Directv equipment around to compensate for a receiver issue.

Why stop at 14, go for 12. Think cables like a straw in a milk shake. The smaller (in circumference) the straw, the harder it is to get the shake. By having bigger AWG cable you are adding less resistance and making it easier for the "sound" to travel. As for using the same front and rear..well I'm using Audioquest Indigo cables up from and Monster 16awg zipcord for rears. Can't tell the difference. I would say have your fronts using the same for sure.Message Edited by Willow on 12-01-2007 03:27 AM

Problem is when I navigate the receiver to the Playlists folder, it is empty. But I know I have several Playlists defined in iTunes. They're apparently not visible via DLNA/UPnP.

So I must assume Playlists are different between DLNA and iTunes. Is there an easy way to share the Playlists, or at least make iTunes playlists visible to DLNA/UPnP servers?

I tried purchasing a movie on my apple tv for the first time and was faced with the message "HDCP isn't supported by your HDMI connection............". I'm connected to the TV thru a HDMI/DVI cable bought through the apple store and my TV says its DVI/HDCP compliant. Anybody know what the problem is or better still how to fix it?

    DB:2.27:Hdcp Support 99

I've seen this message once on my ATV.
The problem I'm having is the following.

When I switch from one HDM to another on my Samsung LCD TV and then go back to HDMI 2 which my ATV is plugged into, the picture keeps flashing and the TV keeps loosing signal. Now when I restart the ATV it goes into recovery mode, then I have to hit restart and all is fine. It started doing this today only and hasn't stopped.

How do we fix this problem?

Hello, and welcome to the forums,
If your BDPS370 and BDPS580 work fine directly to the Television without the reciever the only two settings that may cause an issue in your reciever is the resolution and HDMI control. Turn HDMI Control [Off] and retry, beyond this there is nothing else to adjust and it would require checking settings in the reciever for resolution input.

Hi all,New to the forums but have spent the past few days perusing them to no avail - your help is appreciated from a networking newbie!I have a Denon AVR 2312ci which I'd previously had hard-wired to an old Belkin router. The only hiccup I'd had at the time was the requirement that I disable UPnP. I have an Apple TV that I use to stream music via airplay to the receiver, which works quite well. However, it requires me to turn on the receiver, whereas directing airplay to the receiver itself would "wake on LAN", a feature I like.Since then, I've upgraded to a 2TB Time Capsule. However, following the router change I am no longer able to find the Denon on my home network, nor do any of the networking capabilities of the receiver work any longer. I tried disabling DHCP on the Denon and assigning a static IP address, but this didn't work. I tested multiple Cat5e cables using various LAN ports on the router - no luck there, either. I tried to reset the network card on the Denon - same result.I'm beginning to wonder whether the problem lies with the way the Time Capsule is configured - any thoughts or suggestions out there?

DB:2.26:How Do I Configure Time Capsule To Recognize My Denon Receiver? 97

Ok. that is very good news.. That it didn't work immediately seems kinda strange.. If you have set a dhcp reservation for it in the TC.. I would have left dhcp turned on in the Denon.. but heck if it works now, leave well enough alone.

Through aiplay it seems that the output is STRONGLY normalized. a.e. when playing a song at normal volume through airplay the Denon sits at 50% of volume. That's the kind of volume your neighbours start thinking about moving ;-). And, because of the dimmed volume the sound is some tighter instead of wider.

DB:2.25:Hdcp Implementation In 2407wfp (Hdcp In Native Resolutions)? a3

Thinking about buying the 2407WFP. But I have one issue. I've read about banding and all that, no problem. My question regards the HDCP implementation through DVI connector. Tried reading up on it, but cannot seem to get a clear understanding.

Here's my problem. It seems the 2407WFP won't display more than 720p signals through the DVI connector, if you have a 'stupid' device like PS3 or a standalone HD-DVD/Blu-Ray player. But what I don't get is how future Media Player programs like PowerDVD or WinDVD is going to display contents from HD media through a PC? My point being, today these programs displays DVD's in a window or scales it directly to whatever resolution the display card is using for the moment. Meaning the program gets to use whatever native resolution the LCD is set up to, without the LCD monitor itself interfering.

But how will this happen in future PC's with a 5.25 HD-DVD or Blu-Ray player? Will the Media Player programs need to instruct the OS(Windows)/Graphics card to feed a HDCP compatible data/signal to the LCD, and then the LCD will display the signal? Or will the Media Player be able to instruct OS(Windows)/Graphics card to display any HDCP compatible data/signal in a window or full screen in LCD's native resolution?

Because if 720p data/signal directly to LCD is the only HDCP compatible resolution for 2407WFP, I do not see much future proofing in this product.

Hope someone can clear this up. Is the only issue standing in my way before getting a 2407WFP.

PS: All discussions here assume a HDCP/DVI compatible Graphics Card (not many existing for now)

PS2: I may be wrong about assuming HDCP data/video can be used in native resolutions at all, but any info on that would also be appreciated

    Regards /Svein

Video card does not have to have to be HDCP compliant. Should have DVI outs, but VGA will also work.

Some people use 4-year-old video cards like an nVidia TI4600, it works great for everything but new games s of 2 or 3 years back.

The only Video card that is suppose to be HDCP compliant (that I know of) is the nVidia 7950 G2, it's 2 cards in one.
To make the full HDCP circle you would also have to have a blu-ray player/burner (Sony 700.00) and if after all that you hope your set up works.

Cutting edge tech. a little buggy still.

    Good Day!

I encountered video problems after the recent software download. The video looked like the video problems one had years ago in the tube TV's when the horizontal sweep would lose sync and the image was squeezed into unrecognizable image. After a series of calls and a lot of frustration I dropped DirectV for Comcast. Other issues with Comcast convinced me to return to DirecTv. I received new equipment and the problem returned.

    My old equipment;

HR21-700 HD DVR using external hard drive

    Sony KDS-R70XBR2 TV

    Denon AVR 3808 CI Receiver

    New equipment;

    HR24-200 HD DVR

    Sony KDS-R70XBR2 TV

    Denon AVR 3808 CI Receiver

After more phone conversations, decided to replace my HDMI cable. That did not fix the problem. I then reasoned that the problem must be software and it started with the original download to the old DVR. But the new one was not working either. So I researched the Denon receiver for software problems. That led me to connect the Denon to my router and download updated firmware. This download lasted about 75 minutes. The Denon turned itself on afterwards and the problem has not returned. It seems more of our devices these days are needing software updates.
