    Help me please

DB:4.18:Windows Seven Cached Domain Password x9

    Hi ,

This issue can be related with the credential cache. Please see the resolution in the KB article below.

You cannot log on to a computer that is using cached credentials after you change your password by using a domain controller:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818088

Meanwhile, you may try the following suggestions:
1.Change the password on Win7 client, then reboot the Win7 machine and see if we can logon with the new password.

2.Disjoin the computer from domain and rejoin it to domain and check the result.

    Hope it helps.

DB:4.05:Domain Logon With Eap Authentication kp

    Hello forum,

I have configured wireless client to perform EAP/TLS authentication via AP 1200 to Cisco ACS and that's works fine.

My question is how the process described above can be performed before log on to the domain so i can get an ip address and then logon to the domain?

    Thanks

DB:4.05:Domain Logon With Eap Authentication kp

Before authenticating with the ACS, the switch port is blocked, so, It does not matter if you use a local user (registered in the PC) or a valid user in the domain (registered in the Domain Controller), the only way the Authentication pop up window for the ACS appears is to have access locally to the PC. You cannot have access to the PC through the domain user and password because you cannot reach the Domain Controller and because you have not authenticated with the ACS yet and the switch port is blocked.

DB:4.00:Win7 Beta Configured Into The Domain, But The Logon Script Does Not Run...No Mapped Drives... s9

There are two ways to run logon scripts in AD - which way are you doing it? Legacy (not recommended) NT4-style account settings way, or (recommended) Group Policy deployed way?If using the GP way, enable debug logging and post your data:HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinlogonName: GPTextDebugLevelType: REG_DWORDData (Hex): 10002The log file will be created in %windir%\debug\usermode\gptext.log. If using legacy method, there aren't many options - you can try adding some instrumentation to your script to write a log file, and try making the script run interactively. But...If you are only using logon scripts to map drives on Vista or Windows 7 or XP, you're doing it wrong. :) Deploy Group Policy Preferences (for free) and bid logon scripts goodby forever. http://blogs.technet.com/askds/archive/2009/01/07/using-group-policy-preferences-to-map-drives-based-on-group-membership.aspxhttp://blogs.technet.com/askds/archive/2007/11/28/introducing-group-policy-preferences.aspxNed Pyle [MSFT] - MS Enterprise Platforms Support - Beta Team

Since you want to retire the DC first you will have to configure all your clients to use the DC1 as your dns server. Then shutdown your old DC and see if there are any issues on the network, once you are confident every thing is working fine then you may
run the dcpromo and retire your old dc. I also see that you have mentioned about exchange server. I want to know if the exchange server is installed on the OLD dc or its on another member server. If its installed on the dc itself then your exchange server

    URT?

    Is it PIXv6 or v7?

for v6 you've got RADIUS or TACACS+. I've often seen it done with RADIUS service running on the DC.

Or in v7 you can use other protocols - kerberos, ldap, nt, radius, sdi, or tacacs+.

How to run domain scripts after logon ? I need working example in C.

DB:3.67:Gina + How To Run Domain Scripts After Logon fz

When I run MS Gina module logon scripts are executed.
When I use my custom Gina scripts are not executed.
    Any ideas ?

Logon scripts (both GPO and user) are actually handled by USERINIT.EXE. If I recall correctly, the user logon script is handled by the same instance of USERINIT.EXE that starts the desktop instance of EXPLORER.EXE (i.e. the one that would be spawned from
gina!WlxActivateUserShell), whereas the domain GPO scripts are executed by separate instances of USERINIT.EXE which are requested to be spawned by WINLOGON.EXE via gina!WlxStartApplication.
The easy way to screw up the execution of these login scripts (i.e. works fine with MSGINA so I know the configuration is right, but with my replacement GINA installed they no longer run) would be to miss including the expected environment variables that
WINLOGON was trying to impart to the spawned instances of USERINIT.EXE, since its via environment variables that the intention for USERINIT.EXE to run a particular script is commuicated.
Be sure you're building an environment block that includes all the environment specified in the pEnvironment parameter to the Wlx functions cited. In the case of GPO scripts you're looking for an envrionment variable such as UserInitGPOScriptType,
and UserInitMprLogonScript is the environment varibale WlxActivateUserShell is expected to create with the pszMprLogonScript parameter string's contents.

DB:3.65:Set Fqdn In Logon Group sa

    Hi Hau,

(Sorry if Hau is not your first name !)

It is not possible to enter a FDQN as the help is :

    IP address

(Numeric) IP address of the application server. This should be specified only if the application host belonging to the instance has to be addressed from the frontend side using a different IP address than that used for communication within the application host. This could be the case if, for example, the communication from application host to application host uses a different network than that used for the communication from the frontend to application host

I think you need the 2 different saplogon groups AND you need to find a way from the portal to check if the laptop is connected internally or externally. The portal would then choose the right saplogon group :

Also, I don't really understand the need : I think it would be much nicer for your users to use directly sapgui when connected internally than webgui.

webgui, IMHO is just an acceptable way to work when not in house.

    Regards,

    Olivier

    Hi,

Based on my research, once the NoDomainUI value is set, AltDefaultDomainName and DefaultDomainName will become useless and Windows will always suppose you are trying to logon to the local computer. As a result, if the NoDomainUI enabled, you need to use UPN or domain\username to logon to the domain.

I know these indicate successful logon/logon attempts. The problem is these logons are fromusers and computers at different sites/subnets under their own Domain Controller.
Sometimes there will be four logon/logoff attempts from the same computer all within one second. There are no direct shares between the users or computers. I cannot believe that their own domain controllers are busy where computers would have to go across
the domain for authentication. Is there a way I can specifically determine why this is happening? My concern is that this is unnecessary traffic on the network.

    Hi,
I agree with Philippe. The DC Locator could locate the closest DC.
Each Windows Server 2003 or later based DC registers DNS records that indicate the site where the DC is located. The site name is registered in several records so that the various roles the DC might perform (i.e. Global catalog server or Kerberos server)
can be associated with the DC’s site. When DNS is used, the DC Locator searches first for a site-specific DNS record before it begins to search for a DNS record that is not site-specific.
If the DC of other site that runs Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2, it is possible that the DC locator of clients fail over to the next closest site when they can’t find a DC in the closest site. It could be performed by enabling the
Try Next Closest Site Group Policy setting.
Also, when the setting is not enabled, DC Locator uses the following algorithm to locate a DC:
Try to find a DC in the same site.
If no DC is available in the same site, try to find any DC in the domain.
And I notice that you mentioned that this same computer logged on and off its own DC seventeen times within seconds at 7:14:xx, the it logged on your DC in 7:16:xx. So please involve administrators in other sites to check if there are some Group Policies
were configured in the DC of their sites.

Also i've found the a few days ago there were Kerberos authentication tests for unix servers. During the tests NTLM authentication has been disabled in the domain. May it be connected? Which policies\settings should i check?
It's really strange that in the Security logs on domain controller the domain is wrong:
    Account For Which Logon Failed:
    Security ID:
    NULL SID
    Account Name:
    vyunov
    Account Domain:
    PRODUCTION
(i tried to logon as testad\vyunov or testad.local\vyunov or vyunov@testad.local - same result)

    Hi,
Since you have mentioned that this user account could logon on other computer. It indicates that this domain user account itselfis without any problem. The cache file in this computer might be damaged.
You need logon with another administrator to try these methods supported by Spirited_1:
Method 1: Fix the user account profile
Method 2: Log on to Windows and copy your data to a new account

I'm trying to find out if there's a way to logon to a domain using the wireless connection. If a user logs on first on a wired connection, subsequent wireless logons work fine, but if a new user attempts to logon using the wireless it says There are currently no logon servers available to process the logon request. The machines have all been deployed through SCCM, and there's no local admin account to logon to. And with 300 laptops to go out, having each user logon first using a wired connection isn't really an option.

    DB:3.63:Win7/Server 2008 Wireless Domain Logon 3j

This issue may be caused by the wireless adapter driver that is not compatible with Windows 7. Some of these drivers may not be loaded until a user logs on. You may need to upgrade the adapter driver.
If the latest adapter driver cannot help, I suggest you change the following policy to try to resolve the issue.
Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative templates\System\Logon\Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon
    Please enable this policy.
If the above suggestions do not help, you may change the adapter with another one and see if it can resolve the issue.Arthur Xie - MSFT

What does Outlook want when it asks for a Domain entry at an Outlook logon?

    DB:3.61:Domain 3m

It wants to know what network group your computer is part of........

    In a domain:

One or more computers are servers. Network administrators use servers to control the security and permissions for all computers on the domain. This makes it easy to make changes because the changes are automatically made to all computers.
Domain users must provide a password or other credentials each time they access the domain.

If you have a user account on the domain, you can log on to any computer on the domain without needing an account on that computer.

You probably can make only limited changes to a computer's settings because network administrators often want to ensure consistency among computers.

There can be thousands of computers in a domain.

You should be able to allow local logins by going to Administrative Tools - Local Security Policy - Local Policies - Security Options.  If you can't that may indicate that you have a Group Policy on your domain which forbids this.Users don't need to log onto the head node to submit.  They can install the Client Utilities on their workstation to submit and manage jobs remotely.Thanks!Josh-Josh

    Hi,
From your result, both the audit logon/logoff and audit account logon have configured as success and failure. If both account logon and logon./logoff
audit policy categories are enabled, logons that use a domain account generate a logon or logoff event on the workstation or server, and they generate an account logon event on the domain controller. Additionally, interactive logons to a member server or workstation
that use a domain account generate a logon event on the domain controller as the logon scripts and policies are retrieved when a user logs on.Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. for example, LOCAL DOMAIN LOGON NAME: ITMARK migrate to central domain logon name: markliu.

    thanks,

    charlescharles

    DB:3.56:User Profile Migration 7d

USMT can't be hepful when you want to migrate users profile from winx to win 7 since in win xp it is V1 where as in Vista and above it is V2. Also, in XP and below it is under document and settings\users where in vista and above it is c:\users.

DB:3.56:Remote Desktop Session Host And Broker Issues - Event Id 4625 - Null Sid 39

Hi guys, here is my scenario:
    -Session Broker
-Windows 2008 R2 Host #1 (farm member - internal DNS round robin)
-Windows 2008 R2 Host #2 (farm member - internal DNS round robin)

From the 'outside' I have an A Record pointing to farm.domain.com and redirects internally to RDS #1.

We are a central office for a school district, users connect to RDS to run different applications. Each user has its own account on my domain. When the users from 'outside' of the domain try to login using their credentials, the Event Log gets
    flooded with Audit Failures.

Here is what I tried and itworked, I removed the server from the RDS Farm and I was able to RDP without any issues.. Here are the logs.

FYI - I do not get this error when trying to add the computer to theFarm, so the duplicate SID is not my firstsuspicion,
as I have not cloned this OS.

Here is the sequence: (using my Android to RDP)
    Audit Success: 4672

    Security ID: domain\dmiranda
    Account Name: dmiranda
    Account Domain: domain
    Logon ID: 0xa8c3fa

    Audit Success 4624

    Logon Type: 3

    New Logon:
    Security ID: domain\dmiranda
    Account Name: dmiranda
    Account Domain: domain
    Logon ID: 0xa8c3fa
    Logon GUID: {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

    Authentication Package: NTLM
    Transited Services: -
Package Name (NTLM only): NTLM V2
    Key Length: 128

    Then the Audit Failures begin:
    Audit Failure 4625 (repeats twice)
An account failed to log on.

    Subject:
    Security ID: NULL SID
    Account Name: -
    Account Domain: -
    Logon ID: 0x0

    Logon Type: 3

    Account For Which Logon Failed:
    Security ID: NULL SID

    Account Domain: domain

    Failure Information:
Failure Reason: Unknown user name or bad password.

    Logon Process: NtLmSsp
    Authentication Package: NTLM
    Transited Services: -

Then a successful Account log off:
    Audit Success 4634
    An account was logged off.

    Subject:
    Security ID: domain\dmiranda
    Account Name: dmiranda
    Account Domain: domain
    Logon ID: 0xa8c3fa

    Logon Type: 3

This event is generated when a logon session is destroyed. It may be positively correlated with a logon event using the Logon ID value. Logon IDs are only unique between reboots on the same computer.

Then this is followed by 8 more Audit Failures 4625 as displayed above.

DB:3.56:Remote Desktop Session Host And Broker Issues - Event Id 4625 - Null Sid 39

    Diego,
From outside you should beRDP to the internal farm name and use RD Gateway. This is the reason for RD Gateway - so you do not have to open port 3389 to the internet.
RD Gateway allows you to expose only port 443 to the internet. If you have not looked into this role service, then here is a starting point:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-is-a-Remote-Desktop-Gateway-server
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd983941(v=WS.10).aspx

So your connection would look like this:

client RDPs to farm.domain.local (the local farm name) and in the RDC you enter the RD Gateway address (this assumes you setup and use RD Gateway).
RD Gateway will first check to see if the user is allowed to use RD Gateway, and then it will check to make sure the user is allowed to connect to the requested resource (the farm).
The connection will first be passed to one of the RD Session Host servers (via round robin) which passes the connection to RD Connection Broker.
RD Connection Broker then determines which RD Session Host serverin the farmis best suited to host this connection and sends then connection there.
Your error says to me you have something missing in your setup (obvious), but I will need more details to figure out the issue.
Tell us more about your setup:
    1. do you have RD Gateway setup? If not fix this first.
    2. How do users write their credentials? DO they specify domain name?
    3. What OS are the clients running?
    4. What is your internal farm name and do you use NLA?
    5. If so what is the name on your certicate you use for the farm?
YOu have written to me in email too, and I will respond there too. If any of this gets solved offline, I will post the fix here.
    Cheers,
    Kris

    Hope this helps,

Thanks James,You are right, the problem is from GAL, the right of Open Address List of Authenticated Users was disappeared. The issue is fixedBut the issue still remains onthe machines that joined in another domainThe scenario is - Exchange 2010/2003 is in domainA.com, acomputer joined to domainB.com , domainA.com and domainB.com is external trusted-UserA logon to computer using account userA@domainB.com , but want tocreate Outlook profile of userA@domainA.comThe error The bookmark is not valid still shown when click Check Name, seem like it keeps logging on using account userA@domainB.com which isn't in GAL of domainA. I can fix this by setting option Always prompt for logon credentials in Outlook profile. We don't want to do this manually on every Outlook profile. Please adviseThanksThanaporn S.

    agree with Meinolf.
If you want to change the domain name, I don't see an option other than creating a new domain in a new forest and then use ADMT to migrate AD objects.

I've seen a few entries like this in my NetLogon.Log...but this seems mysterious to me? What kind of action is causing a transitive network logon from a workstation to itself? Could this be generated by a user trying to remotely logon to 'workstation' using
some sort of remote access client installed on 'workstation'?

DB:3.56:What Does This Transitive Network Logon Entry In Netlogon.Log Mean? 3j

I'm confused by this as well. I'm trying to track down a chronic lockout problem for a user and I'm seeing the same thing where SamLogon: Network logon of domain\user from servername Returns 0xc000234.

servername = the server I'm remoted into. I've tracked the transitive logons back to this server, a domain controller, but now I'm seeing what looks like a loop. I've looked at taskman to make sure I don't see any processes using his username.

Can anyone from MS shed some light on this?

DB:3.56:Limit User To Logon At One Pc At A Time 91

Iam having a network on Windows server 2003 Active directory Domain.
By Default Active directory allows single user to logon to multiple
    computers simultaneously.for
example one user USER A can logon to COMPUTER A and simultaneously he
can Logon to COMPUTER B also without loggingoff from COMPUTER A.

Now for some reasons I want to restrict the Domain Users to logon to
multiple computers simultaneously, without restricting them to logon to
some particular systems only.means I want to set them free to logon to any
computer in domain but restrict their logon session in domain to only once
    till they logout.

    I found this article
    http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/itanswers/limit-user-to-logon-at-one-pc-at-a-time/
can anyone guide me the installation steps or any screenshots becoz on production environment i am afraid as i dont have testing environment.

DB:3.56:Limit User To Logon At One Pc At A Time 91

    To sum things up:

LimitLogin has not been developed by Microsoft, is an unsupported utility, and is especially cumbersome to set up and use:

    - it performs an irreversible Active Directory Schema modification (!),
    - it creates a new partition in Active Directory,
    - it also requires configuring a Web server with the .NET Framework and ASP.NET and setting it up to perform delegated Kerberos authentication,
    - it requires distributing client packages that support communicating with the Web server via SOAP,
    - it is not compatible with Windows Server 2008 , Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012.

    UserLock allows you to:
    - Limit or prevent concurrent logins to your Windows network, based on user, user groups, Organizational Units or session types
    - Restrict user access to your network with multiple criteria: workstations, time, business hours, and connection type.
    - Follow the session activity on your network in real-time and get detailed, graphical reporting
    - Remotely close or lock user sessions, shutdown workstations, from anywhere using the Web console

You can download a free, fully-functional trial
    from IS Decisions website.
