    Hello.

Unfortunately, we do not have a recommended printer for vellum types of paper or card stock that is heavier than about 80-85 lbs. You may have to consider a different type of printer for this type of media. I apologize for this inconvenience.

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that you are having some issues trying to print invitations.I will do my best to assist you with this issue.

If the print size isn't listed in the drop down from the printer preferences you would normally setup a custom size.

The print driver doesn't have the custom feature.

You could install the Deskjet 9800 as a generic driver which you would have different features available to you.

On the computer, go to start, devices and printers, select add printer.Follow the steps, select HP and Deskjet 9800 from the list.Set this one as the default printer.

    Hi.

I just purchased a HP OfficeJet 7110 and the print quality on glossy cardstock is unacceptable.

I have tried nearly every possible setting and there has been only minimal improvement.

I called tech support and they suggested using the HP glossy cardstock which I view as a last resort for two reasons:

    1. We already have many reams of non-HP glossy cardstock

    2. Their paper is incredibly expensive for incredibly small quantities.

I told the tech this and he suggested coming here and seeing if anyone in the forums had found an alternate driver to use in order to print on non-HP glossy cardstock.

Has anyone found a way to print high quality images on non-HP glossy cardstock?

I used to be able to print on cardstock (110 lb) on my HP PSC 1350, but about a month ago, the cardstock started to jam and would not go through the printer (it still prints on normal paper just fine, though). I tried cleaning the rubber rollers that grab the paper, but it doesn't seem to help. I took off the back panel of the printer, and it seems the cardstock just barely gets to the point where it turns upward, and it jams there. I did try changing the paper type to "greeting card" (there's no cardstock option in the printer properties dialogue box), but that didn't help, either. It seems to be a mechanical issue, as far as I can tell---nothing to do with software.

I got this printer in 2005, and it's always performed very well. I need to be able to print on cardstock, and it would just seem a shame to throw away a printer that's perfectly fine otherwise.

    Just FYI:

I have a Dell Dimension 4600, Windows XP

    Hi

I believe I asked this question before, but thought I'd ask again since today is expert day.

I created a custom paper size to accomodate a 5.5x8.5 card. Whenever I print using that page format the text is scaled too high, and when I select it to scale down it suggests a totally different paper size and won't let me go back to that size.

    Is there a reason why I can't print 5.5x8.5?

    Thanks

DB:4.61:Can't Print On 5.5x8.5 Cardstock Using Photoshop And Yosemite 10.10 k9

Hmm I wonder if it is the margins.

Generally unless printing borderless the printer needs some sort of margin, which could be why it's not cooperating at this time. Are you able to enter a smaller margin but still keep the margin, at least a small one? If you're able to print on that size when not changing the margins without issue, I'm confident you created everything correctly

Let me know if you're able to play around with the margins, or if there's a borderless option you can choose with that paper size and we'll go from there!

When printing cards, I'm getting a faded double image, and shouldn't be. I believethe cardstock it too thick, and because the roller isn't picking up high enough, it's duplicating the image again on my cards. Grr. Is there a print option for cardstock, or thicker paper?

DB:4.39:When Printing Cardstock, I'M Getting A Double Image And Shouldn't. Help. pk

Because this is thicker paper, I would recommend going to the printer and adjusting the Preferences so that instead of "Draft" or "Normal" mode you will be printing in "Best" mode. This will use more ink, but should give you clearer images.

    Happy Holidays!

Deskjet 1560 - will always print in proper alignment on plain paper. When I use Avery cardstock, it starts too high on the cardstock. Tried many settings. I did get good print occasionally but, when I try to repeat at same settings, it fails to align properly. Put plain paper in and it works fine. Is this printer incapable of consistent printing on anything but plain paper??

    HP1560,

You asked "Is this printer incapable of consistent printing on anything but plain paper??" Aparently your printer and various others have had the same issue. This is the HP wandering margin problem that many other folks have experienced:

Speckles in this thread did alot of research on software issue to determine that it is probably a hardware issue:

    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-printing-questions/Trouble-printing-Avery-products/m-p/17056/high...

And here was my original postings:

Many have tried but few have ever figured up a solution that is easy for anyone to do. Query for avery business cards or business cards on this forum and you will find various ideas.

    Hope that this helps.

    Hello soapapa,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand you're trying to print on card stock paper using the Photosmart C8100. How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB?

What is your operating system on your computer? Windows or Mac?

First, I would recommend following this HP document on Changing Print Settings in Windows. You need to change the "Print Settings" within the program you are printing from. Make sure you change the "Paer Type" to correct size of the card stock paper.

Also, try cleaning the rollers from this HP document on 'Out of Paper' Error Message Displays and the Product Does Not Pick Up or Feed Paper

Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

Hendric, check under "Paper Handling Specifications" for a complete list of the supported paper types. Paper types not listed here are generally not supported because they can cause the hardware to malfunction if the paper does not go through the paper path in the correct fashion.http://goo.gl/zuJJq

Welcome to the HP Forums.I see by your post that when printing from Word on the card stock, it is coming out blank.I can help you resolve this issue.

Make sure that the default paper size matches the width and length of the paper loaded in the tray. If the paper loaded in the tray is different from the paper size setting, the product might print blank pages.

From the application, go to file, print, select your printer model, Click Show Details to access the print options. (depending on Mac operating system) Select the Paper size. Then click on the drop down and select Paper Type/Quality. Check for the Card Stock and select it. (usually it is listed under Specialty paper)

    Try printing again.

I just bought the 8630 and cannot print on cardstock. The literature I've read and specs say that the printer should support this paper (65lb) and be able to print it but it will not. When I have it loaded in the main tray, it attempts to pick up the paper but then stops, saying that the tray is empty. Is there something I'm missing or will this printer just not work with this paper? There isn't a manual paper feed option (which is what I used on my previous printer) and I'd rather not have to return this printer to purchase another much more expensive unit for this feature alone.

Hi, I am looking into upgrading our current printer Canon Pixma 882 and we are thinking about getting a Canon Pixma Pro-100 which would end up being around $100 after rebate from BH. It seems that both printers use the same type of ink (Chromalife 100+) which is dye based. The printing that we will be doing is mostly on an 80-110 lbs. cardstock. We don't currently print professional photographs, only family photographs every once in a while.

Do you guys think it would make a huge difference to upgrade from our current printer to the Pixma Pro-100 or would it really merit the extra cost to get a pigment based printer like Canon's Pixma Pro-10? For what I have read, Canon states that the Chromalife 100+ should last for around 100 years without fading. However, I haven't been able to find any info that confirms this.

I am not well versed in printers and most of the information I have read comparing pigment with dye printers focuses on printing on photo paper instead of cardstock. Our main concern is that prints on Canon's Pixma Pro-100 would fade too soon.

    DB:3.78:Need Suggestions 8p

Basically you want a printer with a manual feed tray. This is a tray, usually on the back of the printer (or the side depending on how the paper is pulled through) that allows the paper to go through the printer perfectly flat. Cardstock is too heavy to bend going through from a normal tray. You can call the 1-800-474-6836 and say shopping and they will get you through to the presales group that can help you pick out a paper or you can try the website printer selector located here:

I have a new HP8600 Plus that I am using to print 8 1/2 x 11" 110 pound cardstock. When I try to print a pdf file through Adobe Reader (Windows 7), I get an out of paper message. The same file will print on plain paper. I have tried setting the paper in Adobe Reader and in the HP software to Cardstock. I have printed 100 blank sheets that I saw as one option to wear down the rollers so that they would pick up cardstock. Still no luck. Any suggestions?

    Gemini02,

Thank you for your response. I tried the firmware route and found that I have the latest so that wasn't the solution. I tried all sorts of combinations of paper weight and finish and that did not work.

What did work is a call to HP support. I had a very nice lady named Camille walk through your solutions and several others. What finally worked was to do a reset of the printer. Camille walked me through that process and I am now able to print on 110 pound cardstock with ease. Perhaps HP could make it a bit easier for users to know about this resetting process (which is well hidden, even by HP standards) or to at least advise us that this is an option.

    DB:3.74:Paper For 8610 xp

    Hi @ssm1025,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I noticed that you are wondering whatthe thickest paper that can be put into the HP Officejet 8610 is, and if the printer will accept 110 lb card stock. I am happy to help!

If you visit your printer's specifications page, HP Officejet Pro 8610, 8620, 8630, 8640, and 8660 e-All-in-One Printer Series Printer Specifications. The proper weight can be found under the Paper-handling specifications section, and selecting Paper tray capacities. There it says 110 lb is max weight for card stock.

You will also want to make sure that the size of paper is supported as well. On the same page under Paper-handling specifications, you will see Supported cards.

Hope this information is what you're looking for, and have a wonderful day!

Hi All - I print cardstock all the time and just purchased a new OfficeJet Pro 8610 eAiO from Best Buy 2 days ago. The salesman told me it was the best option for cardstock printing and the specs say it can handle 110lbs cardstock. It is hooked up and printed a couple standard paper pages nicely. But when I put in the cardstock, it made all the noises like it was printing, but then "Load Paper" shows up on the LCD screen. We have tried unplugging it, but that doesnt do anything. After a little bit of fiddling with the tray (pushing and pulling on all tabs and springs we see), we put the tray back in and then it prints. But we have to do this with every print request. I have read to select "heavy paper or card stock" in the printer properties and to disable tray 2. I dont have a tray 2 on my printer (that I am aware of at least). And I dont see an option for printer properties for me to change anything. Does anyone have directions for this process? Also - I read that the printer may work if it is kept nearly full of paper? Has anyone had success with this? Any help is appreciated.

DB:3.72:Mac Os X Won't Print Card Stock On Brand New Officejet Pro 8610 E Aio 9s

    Hi KRichBC,

Thank you again for answering my questions!

Checking over the printer's specifications, found at this website. HP Officejet Pro 8610, 8620, 8630, 8640, and 8660 e-All-in-One Printer Series Printer Specifications. This is a supported paper size at 8.5 x 11, if the paper type is Index Card Letter.

I also would recommend trying the solutions within this guide. An 'Out of Paper' Message Displays on the Control Panel and the All-in-One Does Not Pick Up Paper. Againplease, try a custom size print to see if that will work. Create Custom Paper Sizes in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Mac OS X.

    Foil also works great.

But if you don't want to spend a lot, maybe start with white card stock, and paint the sheet black with inks, leaving your design in other colors or the stock color. The result looks like you printed on black, but you actually printed the black instead.

The certificate blanks are cardstock thickness and have a foil emblem embossed on the upper portion of the certificate. When I print a certificate out, I often get a red "ghost" of the emblem directly below the emblem on the certificate. I imagine the "ghost" is caused by heat transference from the emblem.

I set both the computer and printer control settings for cardstock before printing. Other than the ghost image, the print quality is quite good.

Of note, I use a PC, loaded with Windows Vista 32 bit OS. I print the certificate from Word, and load the certificates in through tray 1 - the manual feed tray. Thanks in advance for any assistance or solutionprovided.

When you are trying to print on the cardstock, are you making sure to set this option in the printing preferences window? This can be accessed when you click on print by clicking the Properties or Preferences button on the print window that opens. Under the paper/quality tab, do you have letter set for the size and cardstock for the paper type?

I work for an ISP and we send our billing statements out on 4x6 postcards. We switched to a new billing system called Platypus and their report writer has been working on a custom report that would duplicate our statements. It is set up to print 4 statements per 8x12 cardstock page each one being 4x6. The report writes has actually sent me a screenshot showing me that they indeed have it set up correctly to do so. Also they have an HP Laserjet 4350dtn and have been able to print them out successfully 4 per page on a sample of the cardstock we sent them doing it the exact same way in the billing software we are. Only difference appears to be the printer and the fact they are using Vista. I've went through all the settings in Printer Pref's several times to no avail. What it does on our end is print 2 on the left hand side of the page then 2 more on another separate sheet. What am I missing?

    Hi dh1234,

I suspect your question would be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community, as theHP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer is a commercial model.

My technical expertise is with consumer products and software, I am sure the commercial folks would be happy to help if you re-post your question for them to answer. The HP Enterprise Business Community is an HP Forum designed for the Commercial and Enterprise customers to help one another. I am sure you will find some HP folks there to help too.

Click here to view thePrinting and Digital Imaging. When the page opens you will see the option to 'Log in' or 'Register Now' on the right. The commercial forums are separate from the consumer boards, thus you will need to register if you don't already have a commercial account.

You may find the HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer support page helpful while you wait for somebody in the commercial Forum to respond to your inquiry.

    Best of luck.

    Hi,

I have an HP Officejet Pro 276dw

Everything works great except when I try to print on my cardstock (timecards) it will grab the card and pull it through but does not print anything on it. If I substitute an envelope or a piece of paper it will print on that. But when I put the card back in the tray in the correct position, again it will pull it up and through but does not print on it.

    Any suggestions!!?

I'm trying to print my office name and info on Christmas Cards. my printer will not allow the cards to be pulled through Tray 2, it always forces Tray 1 but the card will not be pulled into the machine past the duplexer - no matter what weight paper is designated.

I love this printer, but this is annoying. I'verun maintenance on it and cannot get the printer to accept the cards.

    Please Help.

DB:3.43:Hp 576dw Will Not Print On Cardstock fd

    Hello,

The M476 is designed to pull custom media (ex. card stock)from tray 1. Tray 2 has specific media size that it supports through the paper pick mechanism. Is the Christmas card in tray 1 flat or folded. The card weight and thickness could cause it to not clear the duplex area. If the card is folded, try opening it up to see if it will pull and pass throught the print path properly. If this does work, the application used to create should provide a layout to provide the correct format.

DB:3.43:Hp 2620 Aio Printer - Not Printing Cardstock xf

I bought this printer for the main purpose of school papers in mind. It had no markings on the box telling me whether or not it actually did print on cardstock. So now my problem is trying to figure out how I can get my printer printing on cardstock through the pepakura designer 3 program so that I can continue making costumes for holloween. I keep getting the error "The paper size detected by the printer sensor does not match the paper size selected in software." I've tried everything I can think of (actually going in and selecting the printer paper size and all that mumbo jumbo). I've even tried googling anything about this printer and that error message and nothing pops up.

    Please help?

Hi @mwentzel894 , and welcome to the HP Forums!

I see you're looking into cardstock printing. I'd like to try and assist.Do you have any issues printing or copying standard paper?

What size of cardstock are you using? This printer has the following supported cardstock sizes:

    - 3.9 x 5.8 inches

    - 4.0 x 6.0 inches

    - 5.0 x 8.0 inches

I would suggest contacting Pepakura support for more information on alternate formatting options:

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums.

I'm trying to print out some announcementson cardstock. The first one printed out perfectly without any problems at all, but 4 subsequent tries resulted in a jam.I'm thinking I may need to change the settings. Is there a setting to print on cardstock? I've looked through all the settings but don't see one. Suggestions?

DB:3.41:Officejet Pro 8660 Printing On Special Paper Issues af

I just bought the Officejet Pro 8660 all in one printer today and it will not feed any paper through except plain paper. I have tried both cardstock and photo paper and it will not feed through and then the screen says "Load Paper". Please Help!!! I need to print on both cardstock and photopaper today!

DB:3.41:Officejet Pro 8660 Printing On Special Paper Issues af

    Hi ncjam,

I understand you have an Officejet 8600 that is having issues feeding both card stock and photo paper. I will certainly do my best to assist you with this issue.

I realize this may seem like a strange step, but what I'd like you to do is put a blank piece of paper either on your scanner glass or in your document feeder and ask the printer to make 99 copies of this page. The printer will then feed 99 blank pages through your printer, thus "prepping" the rollers and giving them better grip to pull in the photo paper and the card stock.

However, if the issue persists after this step please let me know which version of the 8600 you are using and I will look into a few other things for you.

Hope this helps, have a great day!

When I try to print on cardstock the printer spits the cardstock out without printing and gives a size error message. The same size plain paper prints. I have tried to change the paper type setting without success.
