what I was doing: Try to migrate thessrs 2005 sp2 in a old web serverto SSRS 2014 in a new server (native mode)
1. old SSRS web server: SSRS 2005 SP2 enterprise edition with window server 2003 (server 1)
2. New SSRS web server: window server 2012 R2, installed sql server 2014 database engine and SSRS. (server 2)
3. backup configuration files, encryption key, we have no custom assamblies from the old SSRS web Server (server 1)
4. Backupthe report server databases from the existing olddatabaseserver. (server 3) (our SSRS web server and SSRS report server databases are in different servers)
5. Created the RSExecRole and grantd all the permissions according to the documentation in the sql server 2014 database server (server 4)
6. Restore the databases to thenew database server that is in sql server 2014. (server 4)
7. Go to server 2 to configure the reporting service using the configuration Manager
I successfully pointed to new databases, but when test the url, I got the error: The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid or it can not be read. The found version is '143' and the expected version
is '162'
I worked with Microsoft technician, and he said I have to upgrade my old SSRS from 2005 SP2 to 2005 SP4 first then do the migration. But I saw some article saying that I can migrate the SSRS from 2005 SP2 to SSRS 2014. Any help is

Hi Uri,
Thank you for your input. I do not understand how you move the old reports (.rdl) and open it in the new SSDT. I restored the databases to a SQL Server 2008 R2 environment andrestored the encryption key using the configuration tool, and
the reports look good in the new SSRS 2014 server. The only thing left is that we need to upgrade the report server databases from sql server 2008 R2 to Sql server 2014.

This is with SSRS 2008 SP1.Since upgrading to SSRS 2008 SP1 (from SSRS 2005 SP2) we have had trouble with dates. We have some roprts where people enter a start end date. The parameter types is datetime. Before the upgrade they could enter 1/1 and it would resolve automatically to 1/1/2009 12:00am - since the upgrade it instead resolves automatically to 1/01/2009 12:00:00 AM +11:00, which causes the report to throw the error: The version of SQL Server in use does not support datatype 'datetimeoffset'. Our SQL servers are all still on SQL 2005 - its only RS (which is on a separate server) that we have upgraded. Does anyone have any solutions to make it not add the time offset onto it? Thanks!.

How do I upgrade Sql Server 2005 Express to SP2 if I also have SQL Server 2005 Enterprise SP2 already on the same box? I installed Sql Server 2005 Enterprise first, then applied SP2, then installed Visual Studio 2008 (which installed SQL Server 2005 Express).

I'm left with SQL Server 2005 at level 9.0.3054 and SQL Server 2005 Express at 9.0.3042. How can I bring SQL Server Express 2005 to the same level as SQL Server 2005 Entperprise?DB:3.62:Cannot Upgrade Sql Server 2005 Express To Sp2 After Upgrading Sql Server 2005 Enterprise To Sp2 9f
Vidhya is right. You are on SP2 already.
Separately, the issue with the failed install is that the default instance is most likely the Enterprise Edition instance. When upgrading via the GUI, the setup looks at the default instance only to determine whether changes are needed. Try running your upgrade from the command-line utility instead, and specify the /instancename parameter (I think it's SQLEXPRESS).
Good Luck!

You don't need admin account to install SQL Server in XP and your original error is related to bad CD/DVD that is the reason I asked you to download and install. So use XP system restore to roll the operating system back to a date before your first install and download a fresh file and run setup from the fresh download. Hope this helps.

SachinDB:3.39:Inputs Required Related To Sql Reporting Services pj
Hi Sachin_G,
Question 1: SSRS capability which is bundled with SQL Server(2005/2008) in terms of number of concurrent threads and performance.
Reporting Services is a reporting platform that combines the scalability and manageability of a centrally managed report server with the flexibility of Web-based and desktop-based report delivery. I recommend you that refer to the article about Planning for
Scalability and Performance with Reporting Services, please see:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/fd545d6c-1d69-46e5-9442-5f926faab362Question 2: Difference between SSRS basic version and SSRS server edition.
There is an article about SQL Server version list, please see:
http://www.sqlteam.com/article/sql-server-versions
Reporting Services is available in Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, Developer Edition, and Evaluation Edition. Editions vary by licensing restrictions and by the features they support. For more information, please see:Programming Features for Reporting Services Editions:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365156.aspx
How to: Detect Version information:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb630446.aspxQuestions 3: Migration from crystal reports to SSRS
Please refer to the article about Migrating from Business Objects Crystal Reports to SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services, please see:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa964127(SQL.90).aspx
Question 4: Limitations of SSRS
I think youll have a better understanding of SQL Server Reporting Services after refer to the article:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159106.aspx
Questions 5: Authentication
Reporting Services provides default authentication based on Windows integrated security and assumes trusted relationships where client and network resources are in the same domain or a trusted domain. For more information, please see:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb283249.aspx

DB:3.35:Sql Server 2005 Reports With Sql Server 2014 xx
You can upgrade the the RDL schema will be upgraded.
Report definition (.rdl) files are automatically upgraded in the following ways:When you open a report in Report Designer in SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), the report definition is upgraded to the currently supported RDL schema. When you specify a SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 report server in the project properties, the report
definition is saved in a schema that is compatible with the target server. When you upgrade a Reporting Services installation to a SQL Server 2014 Reporting Services (SSRS) installation, existing reports and snapshots that have been published to a report server are compiled and automatically upgraded to the new schema the first
time they are processed. If a report cannot be automatically upgraded, the report is processed using the backward-compatibility mode. The report definition remains in the original schema.Reports are not upgraded when you upload a report definition file directly to the report server or SharePoint site. Upgrading a report definition in SQL Server Data Tools is the only way to upgrade the .rdl file.
After a report is upgraded locally or on the report server, you might notice additional errors, warnings, and messages. This is the result of changes to the internal report object model and processing components, which cause messages to appear when underlying
problems in the report are detected. For more information, see Reporting Services Backward Compatibility.
For more information about new features for SQL Server 2014 Reporting Services (SSRS), see

The operationsare a little different to grantuser access to a report serverbetween SSRS 2005 and SSRS 2012.Have you assigned the System-level permission (System Administrator or System User role) to the user in the report manager?
If not, it should be the cause.
Besides, when you set the Item-level permissions (Content Manager, Browser, etc.) to the user, make sure to assign the role on the Home folder (i.e. click “Folder Settings” button on the Home page) rather than a specific folder.Reference:

DB:3.33:Sql Server 2005 Sp2 Supported With Crystal Reports Server Xi R2 For Cms Database? zd
Post Author: ErikCA Forum: DeploymentIs SQL Server 2005 SP2 supported as the CMS (Central Management Server) database for Crystal Reports Server XI R2?I'm getting ready to deploy Crystal Reports Server XI R2 and I was very suprised to find that the documentation only lists SQL Server 2000 or MSDE 2000 as supported (MS SQL Server) database platforms for the CRSXI R2 CMS database. Is that true? Is the documentation outdated? It is currently October, 2007 and CRSXI R2 will not support SQL Server 2005? SQL Server 2008 is due out in a few months now (Q1 2008), but CRSXI R2 only supports the 7yr old version of SQL Server? That would seem odd to me, so I'm asking for clarification. Is anyone currently using CRSXI R2 with SQL Server 2005 as the CMS database?Furthermore, if anyone has additional insight, I'm considering deploying CRSXI R2 on a Windows Server 2003 server with MS SQL Server 2005 SP2 which is also running SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). (Should provide for an interesting comparison of product features...SSRS 2005 Vs. CRSXI R2). But another question that comes to mind...will CRSXI R2 play nicely with SQL Server 2005 SP2 running SSRS 2005 all on the same server?SUMMARY OF QUESTIONS:1) Can CRSXI R2 use SQL Server 2005 SP2 as it's CMS database?2) Will CRSXI R2 run nicely on the same server that is also running SQL Server 2005 SP2 with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)?Thank you, in advance, for your reply!Erik
DB:3.33:Sql Server 2005 Sp2 Supported With Crystal Reports Server Xi R2 For Cms Database? zd
Post Author: ErikCA Forum: DeploymentWell, I never received a response in the forum (obviously). This forum doesn't seem to be reviewed by Business Objects, and thus has questionable value. But I'll endeavor to help you. So the answer I found and am experiencing is that CRSXI R2 does work on MS SQL Server 2005 SP2, and Business Objects does support it. It sounded like CRSXI R2 should also work on MS SQL 2005 or with SQL 2005 SP1 also. As I recall it seemed there were some passing comments from BO support that there were issues with CRSXI R1 and SQL 2005, but they were just passing comments and I did not get into it because it was not my scenario. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the upgrade from CRSXI R1 to R2 is free. Just download and install R2. There may have even been a Service Pack for CRSXI that I saw on the BO website...(?) But our CRSXI came with R2 and the Service Pack was already there. I did have trouble with viewing rights, but that was corrected after applying their CRSXI Fix Pack 2 and 3. (I think Fix Pack 2 alone would have fixed it, but I put them both on as 3 was the newest at the time.) So the gist of the problem was that their documentation was outdated. They emailed me a new PDF documentation file (dated Apr-25-2006 10:26 AM), but it doesn't appear that I can attach it here to this post. I called up BO and requested current documentation. Maybe their website is updated now, but the documentation I found on their website at the time was also outdated. Ok, I Googled it and found a link to the PDF file they sent me. Try this.http://support.businessobjects.com/communitycs/technicalpapers/crs_xi_r2_supported_platforms_windows.pdfor tryhttp://www.google.com/search?hl=enq=crs_xi_r2_supported_platforms_windows.pdfIn their current documentation it does state that it supports SQL Server 2005. For me, one other notable item was that they also discontinued support of older Oracle drivers for older versions of Oracle. However, on a different support call one of the BO Techs told me that the newer Oracle Drivers are backwards compatible with older Oracle databases and with the newer Oracle Driver installed on the server and client, then CRSXI R2 can still use a native Oracle driver for connectivity. So you should be able to run CRSXI R2 with SQL Server 2005 and BO does obviously support it. (I've called quite a few times myself...works better than this forum, I guess.)I will mention that I have experienced a report timeout issue, which required changes to registry and IIS settings...(BO Support helped with it). Also noticed that the ActiveX Print control (one-click printing) is an issue in that non-admin users cannot install and thus cannot use this feature without an admin installing it first (which is not viable in larger scenarios). Their writing up a knowledge base article on how to deploy their Print Control now. If it is helpful for you, we used IIS instead of the Java Application Server, (we did not install the Tomcat server), and we're using Active Directory (single sign-on) authentication.I think you can download the CRSXI R2 from here.http://www.businessobjects.com/products/reporting/crystalreports/server/upgrade.aspFix Packs from here.http://support.businessobjects.com/downloads/critical_hot_fixes/default.aspHope that helps!-Erik

How long in seconds does the query take? If it's very long you may need to increase script timeouts for IIS since it's rs2005 and uses a website, this may bubble back as an error in the ide, not sure on that but it's worth checking. Also, the number of lines isn't as important as the details of the query and how optimized it is ... sorting out the subqueries to not slow down the main flow is a typical problem.

Hi Andrew,
In this scenario, we need to add the Reporting Services service to the existing SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 instance from the ISO image first, and then apply the Service Pack 2 for SQL Server 2008 R2. For the services and features that have been updated to SP2
already, they will be ignored during the SP2 installation. We can see that from the Select Features page of the SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 installation.Regards,

Thanks for your question. After looking over the log information, I think it might be the issue of timeout. Below is
a process that correct it, please follow these:
1.

DB:3.26:Move Ssrs 2005 From One Machines Sql Instance To Another Machines Sql Instance Results In Wmiproviderexception Error kf
Hello,
I have two machines X and Y. X and Y both have SQL2005, SP2. X currently has a ReportServer database (and temp database), with an encryption key, and many SSRS reports that run great. The target data source is a different SQL server
machine.
We want to retire machine X. I have performed the following steps to move the SSRS instance from X to Y:
1. Backup the ReportServer database from the source machine, X.
2. Restore that database to the destination machine, Y.
3. Backup the SSRS Encryption Key from the source machine Xvia the Configure Report Server console.
4. Restore that same exported key (copied to the new machine from the old machine) via the Configure Report Server console on the new server, Y.
The error shown below occurs on step 4, when I try to restore the key. I assure you I am pointing to the correct exported file and am entering the correct recovery password.
Error received:
ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.WMIProviderException: The feature: Scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. (rsOperationNotSupported)
at ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.RSReportServerAdmin.ThrowOnError(ManagementBaseObject mo)
at ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.RSReportServerAdmin.BackupEncryptionKey(Byte[] encryptedBytes, String password)
I have attempted first removing all existing encryption keys on server Y (via console and via the RSKeyMgmt.exe -r command). The keys remove just fine. Even after removing all keys and performing step 4 restore key file from X to Y, I still
get the error. What is interesting is that even though I get the error, using the RSKeyMgmt.exe -l option shows the key has been applied; but though applied, it is not usable.
I've Googled for a while and am not seeing a similar scenario/solution. Thanks for any help.

Hi fasttrack,Do you mean your Reporting Services 2005 and the Report Server database are setup on separate servers, but you do not have domain architecture? So, can we say currently the issues
access database on another server without domain? If I have misunderstood, please point out.Generally, we can use the Reporting Services Configuration tool to create and configure a connection to the report server database. For the detailed steps, please refer to

Hello,I am having all sorts of issues installing SSRS 2005 add-in for SharePoint on Windows 2008 server. After digging in the forums and Microsoft documentation, I was able to install the add-in (9.00.3294 build) using command lines msiexec /i SharePointRS_x64.msi SKIPCA=1 and rscustomaction.exe /i. However, if I were to go to the SSRS Configuration Tool, it errored out upon start up with a ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.WMIProviderException: A WMI error has occured.... I uninstalled the add-in andtried other later add-in builds, but they all rolled back during the installation. Hi all,
i am revisiting the problem asi still am not able to resolve it yet.
please anyone confirm one thing first
i have 2 web front ends and a database server. reporting services is configred on this database server in sharepoint integrated mode.
the reporting services add in : is it required to be installed on BOTH front ends, starting from the one which is hosting the central administration?
this link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa905871.aspx
suggests that i should run complete setup on one of the web front ends, and a FILE MODE installation (from command line) from other web front ends (skipping the customactions.exe)
the link is now modified with sharepoint 2010.
if anyone has integrated reporting services with MOSS 2007 in a farm environment, please confirm me on which servers exactly is the reporting server 2008 add in is required to be installed and which order.Adnan Shamim -

Hi Trekstuff,
Yes, the Report Viewer 2012 and Report Viewer 2010 remote processing mode refers to report processing that is performed by a SQL Server 2008 or higher Reporting Services report server. Similarly, the Report Viewer 2008 remote processing mode requires that
the version of the report server is SSRS 2005 or higher.

Hi Lihui Chen,
According to your description, you want to install the Services Pack 4 for SQL Server. Right?
In SQL Server, Services Packs are used for fixing issues ofcurrent versionproduct. It's not an Upgrade, you don't have to backup/restore your encryption key. You just need to download the Service Pack 4 on:Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 4 RTM . Please make sure you have administrative rights on the computer to install SQL Server 2005 SP4. Hi Eran,I have a post over on my blog that describes how you can build a drill-down chart against OLAP data. http://blogs.msdn.com/seanboon. There's a link to the file there as well. You may also want to check out Chris Webb's BI blog as well as he offers up another approach as well. Let us know if you still see issues after looking at these approaches. I don't believe there's anything in SP2 that would cause the difference, but if I were to try and troubleshoot this I would probably start by opening up a profile trace to the OLAP DB to make sure that the same MDX query is being generated in both cases.-Sean Program Manager, SQL Server Reporting Services

Hi Pscorca,
You can use the method which was pointed by Alberto above or use the following method (in which way you still need SQL Server 2005
installation media):
1.
Run the SQL Server 2005 setup.exe
2.
Select SSRS feature
3.
Specify the same instance name of the existing instance of SQL Server
4.
After the installation, SSRS would be added
Since the original instance of SQL Server has applied SP2, I would suggest apply SP2 for SSRS. Of course, you canleave it
at RTM.
If you have more questions, please feel free to let us know.

Sure, it is supported and possible to install SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 64bit on the same box.
We can deploy the SQL Server Database Engine 2008 in the Cluster and the SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 with a scale-out deployment in a load balancing environment.
We are required to use SQL Server 2008 as Reporting Services catalog database. If the database is used as data source database, then whatever the SQL Server Engine is 2000, 2005 or 2008, all is fine.

DB:3.08:Vertical Text Is Not Showing Properly When Exported To Excel In Ssrs 2005 Sp2 jj
I am using sql server 2005 SP2. I have used in one of the textbox a vertical text and it is showing correct when I preview the report in VS 2005 but when I exporting same report to excel it is not showing properly…I think it is a merging of column in excel issue…
Anybody has faced the same issue then please reply me ASAP.
Thanks in advance... Jashish JainDB:3.08:Vertical Text Is Not Showing Properly When Exported To Excel In Ssrs 2005 Sp2 jj
Hi ashish,
I am not quirt sure about this issue. After exporting to the excel file, what did you see? Also, how did you create the vertical textbox in your report? Generally speaking, we select the option “tb-rl” to the writing mode property to create a vertical textbox. And in my case, the vertical textbox works fine both in preview mode and in Excel file.
The only difference is the textbox can grow in preview mode, so you will see a whole string in a textbox. But in Excel file, the initial size of the textbox looks the same as the textbox in design mode without growing. So you can only see a part of string in excel. If this is the problem you mentioned, this issue could be simply solved by increase the size of the textbox in report. Otherwise, you have to drag the textbox to a big one in Excel.
Please let me know if this helps.

I encountered the same issue after installing SQL ServerExpress 2005. Dell PowerEdge 600SC Widows XP SP2. First you will need to remove your installation of SQL Server Express. To do this reboot the machine, pressing F8 during boot to get to the Boot Menu. Select Safe Mode and continue. Login, then click start, run, and type MSCONFIG. Once the MSCONFIG window appears click the services tab.Nearthe bottom right corner of the window you will see an option to Enable All Services and Disable All Services. Click disable all, this will disable all non-essential windows services. Now scroll through the services list and find Windows Installer, put a check mark next to it (this enables Windows Installer, which will allow you to remove programs from the Add/Remove programs applet). Click OK and restart your computer. After the restart you will see a dialogue box informing you that you are running in a special configuration mode, click OK, then when the MSCONFIG window appears click Cancel. Do not put a check mark in the do not show this again box as later you do want to see it again.Your computer should boot normally. Login, click start, control panel, Add/Remove Programs, look for all SQL Express programs that were installed, starting from the bottom work your way up removing each one. You may get an error dialogue when trying to remove SQL Server Express 2005, click okay and go on. Once you have uninstalled SQL Server Express and all related installed programs. Click start, run, type MSCONFIG, click the services tab, click enable all. Click OK and restart your computer.Your computer should reboot as normal without SQL express installed. Now apply the hotfix located here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921337the other hotfix mentioned in other responses I did not apply because the one for SP2 is no longer available, and it ended up not being necessary. Once you have installed the hotfix install SQL ServerExpress, I would avoid trying to install the whole developers package bundled with SQL Server Express Management Studio, just get throughthe basicinstallation first. Once you have successfully installed SQL Server Express, then install the Management Studio and perform any customizations you like. The above mentioned MSCONFIG method is very handy in removing any program that causes you errors after installation, as long as you can boot in Safe Mode.Enjoy!Joshua

Hi SQL ARS,
When there is no SQL Server Database Engine in the same server of the Report Server, the setup will ask us to manually configure the SQL Server Reporting Services(SSRS).
Based on your description, all configureations is green checked in the SQL Server Reporting Services Configuration Manager. So, I assume the installation is fine.
Currently, the error message is HTTP status 503. This means the Reporting Services is not running. I would suggest you checking if the service is running. We can check this from the SQL Server Configuration Manager or the Services console.
Additionaly, since SSRS 2005 is Internet Information Server(IIS) dependence. Please make sure the IIS service is running.
Also, if possible, could you please post the Reporting Services error logs? By default, it can be found from: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.X\Reporting Services\LogFiles

DB:3.06:Can Installing Sql Server 2005 Sp2 Twice Cause Any Issues? xs
Hi All,We have a setup where in we install softwares like SQL Server automatically. No human intervention. So, the SQL Server, SSIS, SQL Server 2005 SP2 and SSRS get installed in a row. But note that Reporting Services will be installed after SP2. Reporting services will NOT be configured with installation. It has be dealt with later. No Automation for this. Now after this, we are installing MOM 2005 Reporting. For this, it is required that SSRS is configured. I found that it will have issues configuring it successfully and to resolve it, we should install SP2 again. http://www.mydatabasesupport.com/forums/ms-sqlserver/329497-reporting-services-error-rsinvalidreportserverdatabase.htmlI did that and SSRS gets configured successfully. However, I am a little skeptical as to whether reinstalling SP2 (without uninstalling it - I think it is not even possible to uninstall) will cause any issue.Any information regarding this will be very helpful. Thanks in advance,Manoj Deshpande.

Hi Barlo,
Are you using a local account (Windows authentication), If so then make sure you have NT Administrator privileges while installing. In my case I run all the services under local account. If you are doing the same, verify the type of account installed. Run Services.msc - For all the Sql 2005 Services running - properties - log on with local account. Make sure that you are able to connect to all the services.
Still if you face error during authentication mode, Please look at the error instructions on the third column in the table on authentication modes for list of services, after it prompts the error. e.g: Table might show that Reporting Services and Database cannot connect, since native client failed.. -

I'm currently running into some problems creating a new team project in TFS 2008, and having browsed the posts here, my situation seems a little different than the others already answered.
Some background info:
- We're running a separate Application Tier and Data Tier installation
- We're running TFS 2008 SP1, and I've verified that Visual Studio SP1 was re-applied after the installation of Team Explorer
- At one point we lost our Application Tier due to a hardware failure, and this is a re-install/restore situation, so I'd be willing to bet that there are some things amiss there. At any rate, when creating a project I receive the infamous Insufficient permissions to create a new SQL Server Reporting Services at server message. The thing that worries me is that it's inserting the AT server name in this message, rather than
the DT server name. SSRS is installed on the DT, not the AT in our environment, and all of the configs I see check out that for any reporting service data should be pointing to the DT.The 2008 BPA gives me 7 errors:
4x - Web service failures contacting SSRS on the DT -The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.
1x - SQL Server and SSRS Versions do not match - I've verified that all SQL installations involved are running SQL 2005 SP2,so this message is puzzling
1x - tfsservice account does not have Content Manager rights in SSRS - I've verified that it does,so this message is puzzling

Hi slyc,As well know, the client print control is an Active X object. When we click on the print button, the HTML with a
CLASSID will be sent to the browser. If the browser can find the Active X and a same CLASSID, it will print fine. Otherwise, it will probably throw the error Unable to Load Client print
control. To trouble shoot this issue:Make sure that the rsclientprint.dll is not corrupt or the RSClient print is not blocked by Internet Explorer(IE)
1. Make sure ActiveX is enabled in IEa. Click Tools Internet Options...
b. Go to Security tab.
c. Select appropriate zone(for example, if Report Server site is added to Trusted sites zone, please select Trusted sites zone)
d. Click Custom Level
c. Make sure Download signed ActiveX controls is enabled or prompted.
2. Delete the temporary
a. Click Tools Internet Options...
b. In General tab, click Setting... in the Browsing history group
c. Click View objects
d. In the new Windows Explorer window, delete the all rsclientprint ojbects.
Make sure that the
CLASSID on the client is the same as the server. You can get the CLASSID by the following steps.
1. Install the Window Resource Kits. We can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9d467a69-57ff-4ae7-96ee-b18c4790cffddisplaylang=en. The tool oleview is in the resource kits.2. Open the oleview, navigate to the ActiveX we want.
3. Right-click the ActiveX (such as RSClientPrint), and then click Copy CLSID to Clipboard.
4. If we want to use the ActiveX in a web page, we can click Copy HTMLobject Tag to Clipboard

DB:3.00:Ssrs 2012 Rendering Issue/Enabling Anonymous Access - Upgraded Ssrs From Sql 2005 To Sql 2012. 7f
Hi Vel,
According your description, you want to know how the enable anonymous access to SSRS 2012. Right?
In SSRS 2008 or later version, we are not using IIS any more. If we want to configure the authentication, we need to configure in RSReportServer.config. This file locate at:
drive:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS12.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer
However, in SSRS 2012, Anonymous authentication is not supported on report server. Please see:
Authentication with the Report Server
In this scenario, we need to custom an authentication type to achieve the Anonymous goal. Please refer to the link:
Configure Custom or Forms Authentication on the Report Server
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

DB:3.00:Ssrs 2005: Point Ssrs 2005 Sp3 To Sql 2008 Sp1+Cu4 Ssrs Metabase m8
I have my ssrs 2005 SP3 web server pointing to a SQL Server 2008 SP1CU4 for its metadatabase ReportServer and ReportServerTemp. (For now, assume I have a valid reason why my SSRS is not on 2008).
I have a web app that calls the reportserver/ web services to render reports for end user.
Everything works fine - except that sometimes - my users get a timeout error. When I go to the ssrs log, I see:
Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerDatabaseUnavailableException: The report server cannot open a connection to the report
server database. A connection to the database is required for all requests and processing., ;
Then I noticed that ifi manually browse the report manager and run a report, then the timeout goes away and my web service call to render the report starts working all over again...until later when this happens again. This happens intermintelly
so it's been hard to troubleshoot.
Does SSRS 2005 SP3 suppot a SQL 2008 Report Server DB? it seems like it does because this works fine otherwise.
Thoughts?
Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerDatabaseUnavailableExceptionDB:3.00:Ssrs 2005: Point Ssrs 2005 Sp3 To Sql 2008 Sp1+Cu4 Ssrs Metabase m8
Hi edgarsanchez40,
First, it is sure we can storeSQL Server Reporting Services 2005 catalog databases in SQL Server 2008.
The error message you posted means the Report Server can't connect to the report server database. Generally, it can be caused by network issue, SQL Server database engine issue or Reporting Services configuration issue(e.g. service account has insufficient
privilege to access the database engine, encryption key is corrupt).
In this case, the most likely cause should be network issue or SQL Server database engine issue, as you are able to connect the database about all the time. The issue happens intermintelly.
To verify and solve the issue, please follow these steps:
1. Please check if there is any error regarding network in the System logs from the Report Server machine.
2. Check the DNS/DHCP settings, make sure there is no potential cause that cause the issue. For example, the DNS record redirect users to incorrect server.
3. Please check if there is any error in the SQL Server error logs from the SQL Server machine. If so, please post the error message.
4. Using Network Monitor to monitor the network activities in SQL Server mahicne till the issue happen.
Alternatively, once the issue happens, please try using SQL Server Managerment Studio to connect to the SQL Server from another client. If we are not able to connect to it, we can verify this is a network or database engine issue. Then follow the steps we
described before to find the root cause.
If there is anything unclear, please feel free to ask.

I was able to find a workaround. This problem (for me) only affected certain datasets. However, I was still able to go into the edit dataset and see details about the query and any parameters. I copied the queryparameters out, deleted the old dataset,
created a new one with the same name, copied the query and parameters back in, fixed one or two problems with field names being wrong, and it worked. -

Had some fun with Kerberos, but got it all working happily in the end.Our production and test environments use three servers and I'm struggling to get SSRS working in that environment.I can't seem to locate any documentation about installing into this kind of farm (they all assume single server style, or installing SSRS onto it's own server). So this is what I've done:Myfarm consists of three servers:Server 1 - SQL2005 SP2 on server 2003 sp2 x86Server 2 - MOSS2007 SP2 Ent on server 2003 sp2 x86 (Central Admin, SSP, MySites, Index and Query)Server 3 - MOSS2007 SP2 Ent on server 2003 sp2 x86 (Main Content)
I've installed SSRS2005 SP3 CU 5 onto both MOSS servers
I've configured up SSRS on both servers, completing Server 2 first.I've tried giving SSRS it's own URL/port and sharing a URL/port with MOSS (e.g. http://servername:82/ReportServer vs http://servername/ReportServer)
I've installed the SSRS Sarepoint add-in onto both servers
I've configured the SSRS bits in Central Admin
I've created a new site collection, using the Enterprise | Report Centre template
I've activated the Reporting Site Collection FeatureBut the SSRS related content types don't appear in the appropriate lists (e.g. "Report Data Source" in Data Connections), which means I can't upload/publish any data connections, models or reports.Anyone got any ideas?

My environment is as follows: -Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 9.00.4035.00 MOSS SP2 with full hotfixes Windows Server 2003 Internet Explorer 7
I'm having an issue that I hope someone can help me with. I'm running a server farm where in which MOSS 2007 (SP2) and SSRS 2005 are running alongside each other. SSRS has been configured to run in SharePoint integrated mode, with what appears
to be no problem. We've further configured the report generator to tie into a specific site collection, upon which we hope to store, create and retrieve reports as required. The problem that I'm encountering is that whenever I try and access the
Report Builder via this integrated Site collection, I'm generating the following error message: -
An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. -- The request failed with HTTP status 503: Service Unavailable
This suggested to me that it was a permissions issue, so these have all been checked correctly and nothing stands out as being incorrect. DB:2.98:503 Issue When Access Ssrs Report Builder Via Moss 2007 7x
Actually, Report Builder uses ClickOnce technology to download and install its application files on a client computer
when you Edit a report. ClickOnce sends requests that specify Windows integrated security in the authentication header. If a server is configured for a different authentication type, the server will fail requests from ClickOnce. To work around this issue,
you must either configure a server for Windows integrated security or you must enable Anonymous access to eliminate the authentication check. Steps for enabling Anonymous access are below:
1.
Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
2.
Click the sharepoint site, you will see Authentication on the Features View surface.
3.
Click the Authentication icon, then Enable the Anonymous Authentication in the status column. For more information about How to: Configure Report Builder Access, please see:

DB:2.97:Multiple Column Report In Ssrs 2008 ks
I need to create a multi column report in SSRS 2008. Gone through almost all the help files. The column tab in the Report Properties they are referring to are only in SSRS 2005 but not in 2008. Atleast not that I could see. Is this feature REALLY available
in SSRS 2008? How can you see the lay out that shows the columns setting in 2008. I need the exact steps please - only in 2008 not in 2005 nor any theoratical statements from technical papers. Thanks in advance.
My current environment is SQL Server 2008 SP2.

DB:2.97:Rendering To Pdf - Ssrs 2005 xp
Hello,I'm having a problem with rendering a specific report to PDF. The report executes fine in HTML, even sometimes in PDF, but for some reason it occassionally doesn't render to PDF. The report contains 2 subreports and 3 tables. I'm getting this error at the server: Server error in '/Reports' application. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. The used version of SQL Server is SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition SP2.Is anyone familiar with this problem? Thanks in advance.
DB:2.97:Rendering To Pdf - Ssrs 2005 xp
Yes Thomas, exactly that hapens ,when some component does not fit to the space provided then it does not render properly and it thows the exception error saying object refernce has not been set.And some times the same hapens when you are refering through any report items, and the control is not able to fetch the same then also it throws the same error.More over there is no direct solution for the same,we have to just try and fix the same. Thanks,Mahasweta Mahasweta das

DB:2.97:Ssrs 2008 And Hyperion Essbase 9.3.1 pp
Has anyone successfully developed reports on SSRS 2008 using Hyperion 9.3.1 as a datasource? I have read the whitepaper about Using SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services with Hyperion Essbase and can connect and see the metadata, but I keep getting the Unknown Member PARENT_UNIQUE_NAME It says to resolve this by installing SP2 for 2005. Don't we already have that if we are using 2008? Any suggestions or success stories would be helpful. Thanks,Richard
DB:2.97:Ssrs 2008 And Hyperion Essbase 9.3.1 pp
Hi Richard,
This issue may occur because the Hyperion Essbase – System 9 version 9.3.1 release has changed the name of the Essbase provider. Because of this change, Reporting Services can no longer connect to the Essbase Provider.
To fix this issue, you can access http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956717/ and download the hotfix to install.
This article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/957113 describes your issue.
Thanks,

DB:2.96:Cannot Open An Ssrs Project (That Was Developed In 2005 Std. Edition) In 2005 Developer Edition mk
Hi Goldentoe,Welcome to MSDN forums. Some clarification with you:Did youopen the SSRS project with BIDS 2005?You can go to Start menu All Programs Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio. Then open the SSRS project via BIDS.By default, BIDS feature is supported both in SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition and Development Edition. Please check: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143761%28SQL.90%29.aspxSo, the SSRS project should be opened. If the SSRS project cannot be opened via BIDS,I would suggest you touninstall and reinstall BIDS to fix corruptions in BIDS.You can follow the steps mentioned in the following thread to reinstall BIDS:http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vssetup/thread/5cb86221-f5cb-4ce1-ab9e-dd4f298c11a7(Please check my reply)Hope this helps! DB:2.96:Rownumber Throws Error In Rb2 When Reporting Against Sql 2005 Database 3j
Hello Rimstalker, this particular internal error is unrelated to the type of your data source. It is caused by the specific report structure and expressions you are using. In order to further investigate this, we would need to see your actual report - in this particular case I think just the RDL file is sufficient for initial investigation. Could you please create a new bug for this internal error at https://connect.microsoft.com/sqlserver, and attach your report (RDL)? Just to set expectations though - a bug filed through connect is typically investigated in the context for the next product release and there is no guaranteed response time. Of course, if we also find a solution/workaround for SSRS 2008 we will let you know :)If you need a quicker response and also specifically in the context of SSRS 2008, you would need to call your Microsoft support contact and open a support ticket. Thanks,RobertRobert Bruckner http://blogs.msdn.com/robertbruckner

DB:2.96:Is It Possible To Have Both Instances Of Ssrs 2005 And Ssrs 2008 Running On Same Server (Both Using Sql Server 2005)? dj
I am currently using SSRS 2005 and SQL server 2005.
I'd like to install SSRS 2008 to test some of the new features still using SQL server 2005. But in the meatime I still want to be able to use SSRS 2005...
Question: is it possible to have bothversions of SSRS 2005 and SSRS 2008 simultaneously installed and running on the same machine? Is-there any precaution to take care?
Thanks in advance
