    I have created a number of Term Sets. Using property restriction keyword queries syntax how can I search based on a term set and term? For example, lets say I have a term set of Categories with the following terms; Cars, Trucks, Boats.
    I would like to be able to enter the following in the search textbox:
    Categories: Cars
    Is something like this possible?

    DB:4.43:Property Restriction Keyword Queries Using Managed Metadata Properties 1x

    Yes it is possible to do keyword searches against metadata columns in SharePoint lists and document libraries. If you have a document library with a metadata column called Categories, then you can set up a managed property called Categories and map it to
    a crawled property called ows_categories. This crawled property will be present if you have done a full crawl. After you have set up the managed property then do a full crawl. You can then search like Categories:Car and it will return the documents tagged

    Finally,In the above you have suggested crawled properties are not default properties,So we have to map these properties manually right?

    Hi,
    I created a new managed metadata property based on a site column (ProjectNumber).

    Went to CA - deleted the index - did a full crawl and after it finished tried to find the documents using search:
    ProjectNumber: 101
    ... and nothing.
    I then tried other managed properties and... also nothing.
    Any idea how I can figure out:

    IF the metadata properties are crawled If so what the values are
    PS: I've got almost 7.000.000 documents in my system so - maybe you could try doin' a full crawl again isn't a real option :-)

    PS2: the standard log file (_admin/search/logviewer.aspx) says the documents ARE indeed succesfully crawled.

    The SCOPE of the search web part was set to:

    in stead of:

    4. The people search refinement panel is also not being populated with refinement items that are dependent on the taxonomy. I am able to search with managed metadata that is mapped to other fields in the user profiles that does not have a term

    DB:2.68:Querying On Managed Metadata Fields Using Search fz

    Hi
    I would like to know if there is any difference in querying the taxonomy field by term id vs term label.
    When a managed metadata field is crawled, it creates 2 crawled properties -

    ows_taxid_fieldname (which is automatically mapped to a managed property owstaxidfieldname and contains the term id)ows_fieldname (This contains the term label)
    I can either query byowstaxidfieldname like owstaxidfieldname:#guid. But this requires term id. Other way is to use the mapped property ofows_fieldname and query using the term label.
    I'm using the advanced search webpart to query on the managed field. Since the end user wouldn't know the Term GUID, I have mapped the text field so that user can search against the term label. Is there any performance implication in using a term id managed
    property vs text field?

    Thanks

    DB:2.68:Querying On Managed Metadata Fields Using Search fz

    1. Do you know if there are any performance implications in using term label vs guid. I'm extending core results webpart wherein I am setting the fixed query based on user profile. User profile stores term labels and I'm planning to use them to query, though
    in this I can retrieve GUID from term store and create a fixed query based on GUID.

    Retrieving search results using either the GUID or label should not matter. Search will take care of executing the query as fast as possible. Adding more code to resolve the GUID of a term will add some more time to prepare the query. This might be some loss
    in performance, but that depends on how many term labels you will need to resolve to GUIDs.SharePoint Developer | @zeemanj |

    Is there any mechanism in sharepoint, the object model, or even diving into SQL that I can use to determine what crawled properties have data in them for a specific search query?

They pull back items that are not of the specified content type but contain the content type's name.  For example, a keyword search such as ContentTypeocument  will return all items of content type Document but it also returns all items with the word Document in them (even if they are not of content type Document). This is obviously not what we want.

    DB:2.61:Search With Metadata Terms Not Returing Desired Results 81

    Hi,

    I am struggling to resolve the issues that I am in. I am using SharePoint 2013 Enterprise.

    My task is tosetup search service that returns documents based on the metadata terms (not the default/general search).
    To achieve this, I created Managed Metadata service (MMS) in SharePoint 2013. To the MMS, created new group – ‘Customer tags’ and
    added the below ‘Tags’ to the Term Set

    ABCXYZ123
    In the document library created a Managed Metadata column called ‘Classification’ and added ‘Tags’ term to this column.
    In the search service, I followed the below steps

    In the Search Schema: For ‘owstaxIdclassification’ managed property, I have added ‘Classification’, ‘GUID’ ‘ows_taxId_Classification’
    to mapped Crawled properties list.Reset the indexRan Full crawl for couple of times
    After the above steps, when I search for the documents with the metadata term, i.e., Classification: ABC, I don't get the desired
    results.The documents that do have any tag assigned are returned in the search results, and also noticed that the deleted documents still appears in the search results.

    However, this is not the same case when I search with GUID of the metadata terms. The search results returns correct documents when
    I search with GUID of metadata term.
    I want to achieve the same, i.e., search results to return the correct exact no of documents when I search with the metadata
    term.
    I am not sure if I am missing anything and unaware the reason for this behaviour. Could anyone please help me to resolve this issue?

    DB:2.61:Search With Metadata Terms Not Returing Desired Results 81

    Deleted documents are only removed from the index after a set number of crawls have passed since they were last found. This prevents crawl failures due to network issues from killing entire systems. From memory that's set to 30 crawls, which is a huge number
    until you have continuous crawls enabled.

    As for the rest I would normally create my own crawled property. The returned value is, if memory serves, a combination of the GUID and the text. Try playing with the search query builder and trying different combinations.

    DB:2.59:Problem With Using Managed Metadata As Search Criteria zf

    Hi Pawel,

    After configuring Managed Metadata Service Application, you can create a new Group and then Term Stores within. Within SharePoint Lists and Libraries, the Taxonomy
    Term Store is used by creating a column of type Managed Metadata.
    You can then choose the Term Set that you intend to use within the list or library.

    For the detailed information about how to do that, please refer to the following article:

    I am using Keyword to run a search, and I am new with the syntax.
    I want the author to appear in the results, for example, but it does not appear. I can use the phrase author:Mike Smith to get the documents returned properly where the author is Mike Smith, but if I want the author to appear in the results, it does not.
    In Central Administration, I see I can edit the Managed Property for Author, but I am not sure if there is something to do there to have the author appear.
    The same goes for dates. I wish to use the different dates of a file, modified date, created date, and I tested some of the properties in the Managed Property list, and they actually error in the code as being not available. How do I get these basic file
    properties to work?
    And the last question is about scope. It looks like the Keyword syntax and do a scope, but I am not sure at all of how to write this. The way I will need to limit scope will be based on multiple folders (where folder = c:\a or folder=c:\b, etc... as a very
    simplified example). Been trying many ways to get the syntax to work for this. About to switch to the SQL querying to try that. Any help on this is much appreciated.

    You can specify a regular search query using the URL syntax (which just represents the keyword syntax).  To perform a regular search query just use q= and follow it up with your search string (i.e.: q=searchstring).  To query your managed property, you specify it with the keyword syntax like this q=Document_Name:searchstring.  Here are some reference links.Enterprise Search URL SyntaxEnterprise Search Keyword Syntax

    Hi Corey,I have tried to use q= but it seems not work. Even I search for a keyowrd instead of property search, it didn't show any result. If I use k=, the keyword search can return some result. So what is the difference between k= and q=?
    Moreover, how can I ensure the properties are being crawled?

    Question: How can I add metadata to PDF documents to and then allow users to restrict the results by equality or a range?
    Background: This has been driving me nuts for far too long. All I need to do is add a group id and a meeting date to PDFs, have Sharepoint index it, and allow users to search based on a group or a date range.

    I've added the metadata to the document as XMP custom fieldsI've installed the IFilterShop PDF filter because it doesn't appear that the default PDF filter indexes custom fields (am I right?)I've indicated that the crawled properties should be included in the indexI've mapped the crawled properties to Managed PropertiesAfter a full crawl, I can see that there are documents that are associated with the crawled properties.
    I'm trying to query Sharepoint via the Search web service, but any time I include a property restriction (e.g. GroupID:6 or MeetingDate '1/1/2012' AND MeetingDate '3/1/2012'), I get no results.
    I've even tried to do this without the custom iFilter, using only the subject and author properties instead of custom fields. In that implementation, I was at least able to search on GroupId but couldn't use less than or greater than comparisons on
    the MeetingDate.

    DB:2.53:Managed Metadata Query Managed Property? az

    Adding a managed property takes two steps,
    1- you run full crawl, this way your custom column shows up in crawl property.

    2- you create a managed property and map it to crawl property. make sure if your site column appear more than once with a slight different name in crawled property, just map both of them to same managed property.

    3- after step # 2, run a full crawl again.

    Now your search results should return based on managed property. Moonis Tahir MVP SharePoint,MCTS SharePoint 2010/2007, MCPD.net, MCSD.net, MCTS BizTalk 2006,SQL 2005

    associated the metadata variable ows_Batch_x0020_ID with the new property.
    The problem I am having is that when I search on the property e.g. BatchID:100, the result is always: No results matching your search were found. even though the value 100 is a valid BatchID and many items contain this value.
    Notes:

    I have done a Full Crawl, the BatchID says it has over 500 items associated with it.
    I am wondering if I am using the search correctly when searching based on a property i.e. PropertyName:Value?

    Thanks

    Hi Corey,

    My Problem was that I was using your Wildcard webpart, I didnt realise that managed property search doesnt work when using it, should have read the issues section first!!!

    I see you have updated the webpart but can you only have one or the other, i.e. wildcard or managed property or does it work with both?

    Thanks,

    DB:2.52:Sharepoint 2007 Keyword Query Search Not In s9

    Hi
    This is for Sharepoint 2007 MOSS Search
    I am trying to construct a query to exclude certain items from the search results. These items belong to a specific metadata property. What is the keyword query equivalent of the SQL NOT IN keyword.
    For example if I have a sql query query like this
    select firstname=d*,lastname,age from employee where firstname NOT IN {mike,alpha,charlie}
    How would we write this using keyword query?

    DB:2.52:Sharepoint 2007 Keyword Query Search Not In s9

    Hi,
    I think NOT IN is not an allowed syntax for SharePoint Search. Your syntax might look like the one below:
    SELECT FirstName, LastName, Age FROM SCOPE()
    WHERE Scope= 'People' AND
    FirstName IS NOT 'Mike' AND
    FirstName IS NOT 'Alpha' AND
    FirstName IS NOT 'Charlie'
    In addition please make sure all: FirstName, LastName, Age are in the list of managed properties from Central Administration Site. Also the scope, 'People' a listed scope.

    Hi,
    I have 2 management property. I want to compare one managed property with another managed property in search query or refinement filters. I read on msdn articlehttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee558911.aspx,
    which says the property restriction of KQL to property nameproperty operator property value which means that even i provide managed property on right hand side, it will be considered as property value and not as managed property. So
    is there way to compare 2 managed property in search, either using KQL and FQL ?
    Also been through another forurm entry with similar query, that is http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/b1fa9763-8777-4058-ad8f-3aebd0f00828/is-it-possible-to-compare-1-numeric-managed-property-to-another-numeric-property.
    but i am trying to find out if there is way to compare one managed property to another manged property.

    Very good solution indeed. It's usually best to prepare static data before it's index so you can use it directly.

    Hey,
    Does anyone know how to improve the search results of a document in MOSS 2007?I know that you can set the rank parameter (like k1, kqir, kud) and managed properties, but it doesn't have the purposed results i'm expecting, because i would like to have a bigger rank for documents with a bigger keyword match. For example:
    a document which contains ten times the keyword must have a bigger rank then a document with only one time the keyword dispite the last document is shorter or the keyword is in the middle or the end of a text.
    Maybe there is a property (managed or crawled) which i could set. But i don't know which one belongs to the content of a document.
    Thnx!

    DB:2.50:Deleted Managed Property Mapping Lingers d8

    Hi all,
    I'm slightly puzzled with the current problem, and I'd really appreciate your help.
    I have some data in a SharePoint list. I've configured the Content SSA crawlers to pick this data up. The crawlers dutifully do, and each field from the list ends up with a ows_{fieldname} counterpart. I then map those counterparts to managed properties
    with names {fieldname} and all seemed fine.
    Later I noticed that one of the properties was mis-named. So I deleted the managed property, created a new one with a different name and mapped the crawled property to it. Strangely, it was not visible to the index but the old (and now deleted) managed property
    still was.
    So I thought it must just be the case that the index needed reseting. So I reset the index from CA using Index Reset and cleared the collection named sp using the Powershell cmdlet. However, the problem remained the same. The old (and deleted) managed propertyremains
    accessible thorough queries whilst the new field is not accessible.
    Is there some other reset that is necessary? Is there some way to see whats going on in the index more directly?
    Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.

    I am trying to use a managed property as scope rule (SP2010 FS4SP) - however I can't figure out how to get any results when setting up scope rules.
    I have defined a managed property on Content Type
    FAST Search Administration - ows_ContentType(Text) is mapped to managed property myproperty
    However this managed property have no setting for scopes (but gives results as expected when using in search queries!)
    In order to get the property to show in the scopes rules, I did follow this blog postinghttp://blog.baslijten.com/fast-adding-managed-metadata-properties-for-the-use-with-scopes-in-sharepoint-2010/
    And did add another, identical mapping under my Search Query settings:
    Search Administration -Queries and Results - Metadata properties
    With Use in scopes set to yes.
    However, when attemting to add a scope rule using this identically named managed property gives
    0 results and error.
    Am I at the wrong track here?

    DB:2.50:Scopes Using Fast Managed Properties 9s

    If you have done the same property mapping for both SP and FAST settings as that blog post show, I would try to use the FS4SP query logger on codeplex to see what the query looks like when you use the scope. At least a step on the way to figure put the
    actual issue.Thanks,

    I'm using DataServices to manage hiberate objects. I have a simple many-to-one relationship between Account and Transaction (an account has many transactions). I have two DataGrids in my application, one display accounts and their balances(which are derived from the trasactions, there is no balance field) the other displays transactions. When I edit the accounts, the changes are propogated to the child transactions. However, when I edit the transactions, the changes are not propagated to the accounts automatically. If I edit the account or resort the columns it will update the balance. My data-management-config.xml is below. My question is, is there a way to make this work or is this not working by design? Thanks guys I have both issues resolved. For anyone that finds this later:

    In one case LCDS was sending the changes to the client, I have had to add a

    listener to the object in my custom renderer. In the case of account

    balances (which are calculated with a query server side) I had to add a

    listener on my managed transaction ArrayCollection to call

    refreshCollections on the managed account ArrayCollection. I think

    hierarchial-events would have worked but it might have also caused a large

    chain of updates in my case.

    For reference, it's under the Edit Category option. So under the Search Service application menu - Metadata Properties click on the crawled properties and then the categories

    DB:2.48:Catalog And Inventory Schema Manager - Property Metadata cd

    No, the two UIs work differently and they cache schema data on the client system. The UIs do not share any cache, this means that after you make schema changes you need to either restart your Catalog Manger UI or hit the refresh button. Sorry the UIs are not smart enough to detect schema changes.

    I setup a custom property extractor (Fast SP1 method running SP1) and created a new crawl property within the 'MESG Linguistics' properties category (csterms). This was mapped to a managed property below

    PS G:\FASTSearch\bin Get-FASTSearchMetadataManagedProperty cstermsmpName : cstermsmpDescription :Type : TextQueryable : TrueStemmingEnabled : FalseRefinementEnabled : TrueMergeCrawledProperties : TrueSubstringEnabled : FalseDeleteDisallowed : FalseMappingDisallowed : FalseMaxIndexSize : 1024MaxResultSize : 64DecimalPlaces : 3SortableType : SortableDisabledSummaryType : Static
    I should also mention here that the dictionary supplied during the custom extraction has a few thousand entries and contains very generic English language terms.
    The index contains public and secure (sharepoint) documents; the latter has a large chunk of documents exposed to a most domain users.
    The refiner was setup in the UI in this manner:

    Category Title=CS Terms Description=Use this filter to restrict results Type=Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.WebControls.ManagedPropertyFilterGenerator MetadataThreshold=1 NumberOfFiltersToDisplay=10 MaxNumberOfFilters=25 ShowMoreLink=True MappedProperty=cstermsmp MoreLinkText=show more LessLinkText=show fewer ShowCounts=Count /

    A full Sharepoint crawl was executed after all of the above steps
    The problem is that only the domain account used to create the refiner can see the 'CS Terms' category. Number of categories to display is set to 8 so more than needed. Other users are only able to see out of the box refiners. When using F4SP Logger application,
    I can see that CS Terms is only returned to queries being sent by my user; other users' queries do not get this refiner. A lot of the index content is public and having very generic dictionary terms, it is very unlikely the restriction is due to security.
    Any idea what is missing here?
    Thanks, Fas

    DB:2.48:Custom Refiner Not Showing Up For All Users 8j

    Hi, Fas-ms:
    The FS4SP crawler works in its own mysterious way :(. you can try to verify that the managed property indeed has been set properly for all user, add the managed propery to search core result webpart Display property Fetched Property xml, then modify the
    xslt to display this property for all search results. Here is a reference you can use

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/thomsven/archive/2011/01/26/seeing-what-actual-gets-indexed.aspx. This would make sure the managed property indeed has been populated with value.

    If above step returns expected results for both u and other user, as you mention that Query Logger simply just not returnningthe NAVIGATION entry of mananged property for other user, maybe u can try to delete this managed property, recreate it and
    do a full crawl. Hopefully it can solve the issue. I fixed a similar mysterious issue by deletign and recreting the managed property,

    Sorry, when I say a generic search I just mean the normal search vs the advanced searchWhen yo uadd a keyword to the site collection settings you can do things like apply best bets and synonyms, the data from these can be used to affect the search result and add important sites to the top of the list (assuming you are using a best ebts web part as well as a normal searech results on for the best bets) but it isn't required to get search working - this can assist in moulding the results if you are not getting what you would expect, and in most cases I find my clients don't usually need to because they are already happy with the results, but the option is there Brian Farnhill

    I am having issues trying to add additional properties to be viewed within SharePoint Search using FAST as the the Search Engine. let's assume that myproperty1' is my managed metadata property I want to expose into SharePoint Search results:
    I have managed to create the managed metadata porpertiesand map them to the Crawled properties within FAST with not issue at all.
    I started to edit the Search Core Results Webpart on the SharePoint Search page and added the column ( Column Name=myproperty1/)to the Fetched Properties.
    I then tried following this article
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms560074.aspxto try and add the xsl to the XSL Editor under the WebParts Display properties category within the Webpart. I then saved the Web part, Checked it back in etc and ran a search all to find that
    the myproperty1 is not appearing in search results as a property.
    Ithen changed the Web Part to spit out the Raw XML to make sure the fetched property is being fetched in which it is being fetched and returning thhcorrect crawled value i would expect to see.
    I am obviously not putting the XML codeinto the xsl editor of the Search Core Results Web part Correctly.
    Does any one have a working sample of XML that makes a fetched property appear in search results that i could use?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    DB:2.46:How To Change Properties Resturned In Sharepoint 2010 Search fs

    This is a little tough for me to follow, but here's how I'd approach this:
    1 - Create the new field (which is of type managed metadata).
    2 - Add the field to a list or library.
    3 - Make sure documents are in the list or library and ensure that the field is filled out.
    4 - Run a crawl to add the fields to the index.
    5 - Create a managed property in FAST (not SharePoint).
    6 - Run a full crawl to make sure the property is added to the index and associated with the content (I know this is the second crawl, but not really a way around that unfortunately).
    7 - Edit the Core Results Web Part to add the property as you mentioned above to the fetched properties of the core results web part.
    8 - Modify the XSL from the Core Results web part to use the Search Results XML 2010 -- this will allow you to see if you are correctly returning the property that you are hoping to customize:
    http://sctxsl.codeplex.com/releases
    9 - From there it is a matter of customizing the XSL like you mentioned in the MSDN article that you referenced. But the first steps ensure that your property is actually coming back as you expect.
    Hope this helps.

    DB:2.46:Ef Provider Via Dbcontext, With Column Level Security Via Custom Metadata? 99

    I would like to use the Entity Framework provider for my WCF Data service for both queries and updates, but I must have the ability to filter out certain properties in the metadata based on the user's permissions or the context (field/column level authorization).
    Is it possible to customize the metadata, but still use entity framework for queries, updates, and paging, or do I have to implement all of the provider services if I have even one that is custom?
    If so, are there boilerplate implementations that basically just do what the entity framework provider does, given a reference to the DbContext class?
    Also, is this secure? As in, if I exclude a property in the metadata that's available in the EF code-first model, but the user types in an odata query using that missing property, will it give an error or ignore it as I expect, or will it pass the query
    through to the query provider? So, for example, say 'Salary' was a field that was restricted. Even though someone couldn't view a person's salary, if the user types in $orderby='Salary', does that result in an error or are the results ordered by salary even
    though you can't view each salary?

    DB:2.46:Ef Provider Via Dbcontext, With Column Level Security Via Custom Metadata? 99

    Hi,
    The built-in EF provider doesn't have this ability right now. And I'm also not aware of any custom provider implementation which would do what you want.
    It is possible to write a custom provider on top of EF, but it's non-trivial amount of work. But once you do it, it will be secure (the WCF DS will only allow properties declared in the provider model, it will not know anything about the underlying EF model)
    The other possibility might be to have two EF models and switch between them on the fly.

    DB:2.46:Keyword Query - Including Managed Metadata Column In Selectproperties Throws Exception sp

    To be able to add columns to SelectProperties, it should be defined as a Metadata Property in search. The issue that I was facing is different. When you create a managed metadata site column(type - TaxonomyFieldTypeMulti), it creates 2 types of crawled properties
    - ows_TaxId_FieldName and ows_FieldName_TaxHTField0.
    if you try adding the Metadata property that is mapped to ows_TaxId_FieldName, then search throws an exception that column is used in an manner inconsistent with schema settings.
    I created a new metadata property and mapped to the ows_FieldName_TaxHTField0, added to the SelectProperties. That worked for me.

    DB:2.46:Keywords Or Alternate Data Streams Indexed By Windows Search On Vista? xz

    I have a simple app that uses NTFS Property Sets to add a Keywords property to .html files. The code uses the IPropertySetStorage interface and StgOpenStorageEx to add the property to existing .html files. As I understand it this particular technique uses Alternate Data Streams (with the SummaryInformation stream).

    In this case, the Keywords property contains the original URL from which the .html file was retrieved. As far as I can tell, the Keywords property is correctly stored in the SummaryInformation ADS.

    However, Windows Search does not appear to be capable of indexing the Keywords property. If I use the keywords: Advance Query Syntax then the keywords are not found.

    Can Windows Search index properties stored in the SummaryInformation ADS? Surely it is possibly do this since it's Microsoft's own standard.

    If this is not possible, what technique should I now use for adding properties to file types that do not have support for metadata built in (e.g. html, txt, and so on).

    Additional info: I note that using the Advanced Query Syntax keyword property matches on content from the .html file's internal meta name=keywords tag. That's very useful but I still need to be able to add my own keyword metadata to arbitrary file types and index/search the SummaryInformation stream's Keywords property. If NTFS Alternatie Data Stream properties have been deprecated, what is its replacement?

    Thanks for the correction.

     Eric Wolz - MSFT wrote:

    If this is something that you need to support, then you would need to write a property handler for your file type and open the alternate data stream and read the properties and return them. This should be relatively pretty simple thing to do.

    On a SharePoint Server 2013 setup (on premise) we want to use a number of managed metadata columns in the search as refiner. The managed metadata column is called Document Language and so it automatically creates a managed property called owstaxidDocumentx002Language

    I am kind new to JDeveloper 10.1.3, and appreciate your help to write Java codes to execute predefined Iteraror bindings in PageDef. I am using logics to get bindings from managed-bean by using SRDemo utility programs (ADFUtils, JSFUtils...), but not success.

    1. Sample of my methodAction bindings of my pagedef
    bindings
    ................................

    methodAction id="findMissionsById"
    InstanceName="FacadesEJBLocal.dataProvider"
    DataControl="FacadesEJBLocal" MethodName="findMissionsById"
    RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="999"
    IsViewObjectMethod="false"
    ReturnName="FacadesEJBLocal.methodResults.FacadesEJBLocal_dataProvider_findMissionsById_result"
    IterBinding="findMissionsByParmsIter"
    NamedData NDName="argMId" NDType="java.lang.Integer" NDOption="2"
    NDValue="${bindings.findMissionsById_argMId}"/
    /methodAction
    methodAction id="findMissionsByParms"
    InstanceName="FacadesEJBLocal.dataProvider"
    DataControl="FacadesEJBLocal" MethodName="findMissionsByParms"
    RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="999"
    IsViewObjectMethod="false"
    ReturnName="FacadesEJBLocal.methodResults.FacadesEJBLocal_dataProvider_findMissionsByParms_result"
    IterBinding="findMissionsByParmsIter"
    NamedData NDName="argCtry" NDType="java.lang.String" NDOption="2"/
    NamedData NDName="argMtype" NDType="java.lang.String" NDOption="2"/
    NamedData NDName="argMloc" NDType="java.lang.String" NDOption="2"/
    NamedData NDName="argMstatus" NDType="java.lang.String" NDOption="2"/
    /methodAction
    .... and so on
    /bindings

    2. Sample of a managed-bean of my backing view Java program
    ....
    managed-bean
    managed-bean-namebacking_app_common_MissionQuery/managed-bean-name
    managed-bean-classtomis2.webapp.view.backing.app.common.MissionQuery/managed-bean-class
    managed-bean-scoperequest/managed-bean-scope
    managed-property
    property-namebindings/property-name
    value#{bindings}/value
    /managed-property
    /managed-bean

    3. Currently I have one query button on my jspxl to call this bing method, it works well. Example of my query button properties:

    ActionListener = #{bindings.findMissionsByParms.execute}
    Disabled = #{!bindings.findMIssionsByParms.enabled} and so on.......

    4. I would like the search button to handle execution of the the multi-queries programmatically, sample of my changes:

    ActionListener = execQueries()
    Disabled = ?????
    and so on.......

    public class MyBackingView {

    private BindingContainer bindings;

    ... set and get bingdings and so on....

    public void execQueries(ActionEvent actionEvent) {

    // Add event code here...

    if (missionNum.getValue() != null) {
    Object qmethod = ADFUtils.getPageDefParameterValue getBindings(), "findMissionsById");
    qmethod.execute; ??????
    .....
    Help ! Help !
    .........
    } else {
    Object qmethod = ADFUtils.getPageDefParameterValue getBindings(), "findMissionsByParms"); qmethod.execute; ??????
    ........
    Help ! Help !
    ......
    }

    and so on........

    Thank you very much for you kindness.

    Robert.

    DB:2.44:How To Programmatically Fill A List Managed Metadata Column With A User Profile Custom Property ss

    Hi there,
    I am really new with SharePoint programming side.
    But recently I am trying to do some things there.
    Ihave a Custom Property called Division in the User Profile Service Application. This Custom Property is comming from a Term Set.
    I have a list with some columns and also a Managed Meta data column called Division.At the moment, when I use add a new item to the list, the user needs to fill the Division Column, but the idea is that this Division column is automatically filled
    with the user division custom property defined in the User Profile.
    Basically I have created an event receiver in visual studio, but not really sure how can I update the Managed Metadata column of the list using the user's custom property, the code I get is the following:
    public override void ItemAdded(SPItemEventProperties properties)
    {
    base.ItemAdded(properties);
    SPUser user = SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser;
    UserProfileManager manager = new UserProfileManager();
    UserProfile profile = manager.GetUserProfile(user.LoginName);

    }

    Any help here would be very appreciate.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Joss

    DB:2.44:How To Programmatically Fill A List Managed Metadata Column With A User Profile Custom Property ss

    Hi Joss,

    Try to use the following JavaScript in your list forms.

    function getUPSValue(attributeName)
    {
    currentLoggedInUser = $().SPServices.SPGetCurrentUser();
    var upsValue;
    $().SPServices({
    operation: GetUserProfileByName,
    async: false,
    AccountName: currentLoggedInUser,
    completefunc: function (xData, Status) {
    $(xData.responseXML).find(PropertyData Name:contains( attributeName )).each(function() {
    upsValue= $(this).parent().find(Values).text();
    });
    }
    });
    return upsValue;
    }
    Here we need to pass attributeName is Division.
    Please reply back if you have any doubt. I am sure it will work.

    Regards,
    Siva

    DB:2.44:Restricting Enterprise Keyword Suggestions To A Term Set xd

    Does anyone know of a way to lock downa list'sbuilt in Enterprise Keyword field to a specific Term Set?

    I've found on similar solution, but that solution only createda new Site Column that allowed a mult-select Taxonomy field and allowed users to add to the Taxonomy. On the other hand, I'm looking for a way to assist users in selecting keywords while
    still allowing them to tag enterprise keywords that will not be added to my Managed Metadata. In trying to come up with a proof of concept, I think I created a pretty good example:
    public class Feature1EventReceiver : SPFeatureReceiver
    {
    private Guid _termSetID = new Guid(4ec3eb26-fb69-49d6-9143-dc41f976443f);
    private Guid _gamesListID = new Guid(d7e1ce12-9523-47df-8ed3-5c4af9e2ee88);
    private Guid _fieldListID = new Guid(23f27201-bee3-471e-b2e7-b64fd8b7ca38);

    public override void FeatureActivated(SPFeatureReceiverProperties properties)
    {
    try
    {
    using(var site = (SPSite)properties.Feature.Parent)
    {
    TaxonomySession session = new TaxonomySession(site);
    TermStore termStore = session.TermStores[Managed Metadata Service];
    Group group = termStore.Groups[Video Games];
    TermSet termSet = group.TermSets[Xbox];

    using(var web = site.RootWeb)
    {
    SPList list = web.Lists[_gamesListID];
    TaxonomyField field = (TaxonomyField)list.Fields[_fieldListID];
    field.TermSetId = _termSetID;
    //field.TermSetId = termSet.Id;
    //field.IsKeyword = false;
    field.CreateValuesInEditForm = true;
    field.Title = Xbox Enterprise Keywords;
    field.Update();
    list.Update();
    }
    }
    }
    catch (Exception)
    {
    throw;
    }
    }

    }
    }
    In this case, I could create a list item Halo 4. I may want to mark it
    Halo and Microsoft Game Studios from my
    Xbox term set that lives in my Video Games term store. I also would want to create an enterprise keyword for
    Sequel or 4, but not add those to my Xbox
    term set, or my Video Games term store at all. However with the way Sharepoint 2010 OOTB works, it's all or nothing. If I type in
    'Mar' into my Enterprise Keywords field, I will get an auto suggestion for
    Mario from my Nintendo term set, which obviously isn't the desired result.
    The odd thing is I can run the code no error, but the change doesn't persist.

    DB:2.44:Restricting Enterprise Keyword Suggestions To A Term Set xd

    I am not 100% sure what you are trying to achieve but and option for you might be to have a dedicated web application and dedicated managed meta data service application . Enterprise keywords is service application scoped and so this would give
    you the ability to restrict enterprise keywords to all the term sets in the current service app instead of every term set on the farm
    I don't mean to be rude, but where did I lose you? I thought I had a really
    good example (for once, I'm usually really bad with these) and I'd like to improve it so I can ultimately get better help through better understanding. I know message board code questions are usually very vague and hard to understand so I'd really like
    to have something people can understand.
    I've never thought about using a different web application, but in my example it wouldn't make sense to have different service applications for Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo just so that I can restrict their Enterprise Keyword fields to one term set (which
    would mean I'd have to make three term stores/web applications for each video game console sub-topic, correct?). It would make aggregation a complete mess as well.

    Does it make more sense if I explain it as simply wanting to restrict the auto-suggestions of an Enterprise Keyword field to a specific term set instead of suggestions from the entire store?
    I started building this solution in Sharepoint 2010 but we are going to develop in 2013 which would allow us to create a display template where we could manually restrict the options using JavaScript.

    When you use PSE9 to apply a keyword tag to a photo does it actually write the keyword

    tag into the photo's metadata or is it just contained as part of the PSE9 catalog?

    I applied some tags to a few camera raw images in PSE9, and then reviewed the photo

    file's properties on Windows 7 and did not see the keyword tags shown.

    I have been using a folder system to organize my photos but am going to migrate to a keyword

    Hi,
    when using Power Query to connect to an O365 SharePoint list using either the From SharePoint List connection or the From OData Feed connection I won't get the Managed Metadata column back in the result set.

    There seems to be yet another problem with this SharePoint MMD (data from the TermStore) type of information ... anyone suggestions on this ?
    Thanks,

    Thanks for your search and answer Ben !
    I'm hoping Managed Metadata columns will be added / supported by the ListData.svc very soon. Not only for the scenarios described in the link you posted but also from a Power Query / Power BI point of view is this type of data very often needed and relevant.
    As a SharePoint Consultant I'm convincing clients to manage their terms in the Term Store but when I start using this data I have to disappoint them so often !
    Thanks again,

    Hello,

    I have a UserBean with session user data. This bean have to be accesed from all the other beans.Which is the best way?

    1. add the userBean to all beans like a property:

    managed-bean
    managed-bean-nametypeBean/managed-bean-name
    managed-bean-classcom.Type/managed-bean-class
    managed-bean-scopesession/managed-bean-scope
    managed-property
    property-nameuserBean/property-name
    value#{userBean}/value
    /managed-property
    all the bean must have a property userBean or....

    2. All beans classes extends UserBean. All beans access directly to the userBean properties. But im not sure how it works if I have a:

    managed-bean
    managed-bean-nameuserBean/managed-bean-name
    managed-bean-classes.ieci.tecdoc.pre.web.beans.UserBean/managed-bean-class
    managed-bean-scopesession/managed-bean-scope

    managed-bean-nametypeBean/managed-bean-name
    managed-bean-classcom.Type/managed-bean-class
    managed-bean-scopesession/managed-bean-scope
    /managed-bean

    with an inheritance relation, if I instance a typeBean extending userBean What managed-bean is related with the bean if the bean belong to both classes? i.e. if a have

    managed-bean
    managed-bean-nameuserBean/managed-bean-name
    managed-bean-classes.ieci.tecdoc.pre.web.beans.UserBean/managed-bean-class
    managed-bean-scopesession/managed-bean-scope
    managed-property
    property-name1/property-name
    value#{1}/value
    /managed-property
    /managed-bean

    managed-bean
    managed-bean-nametypeBean/managed-bean-name
    managed-bean-classcom.Type/managed-bean-class
    managed-bean-scopesession/managed-bean-scope
    managed-property
    property-name2/property-name
    value#{2}/value
    /managed-property
    /managed-bean

    has the bean both properties filled, or only one....

    DB:2.44:Jsf And Inheritance pp

    This may not cover your need since your object scope seems broader than what I had: I had a beanA that needed a signal from beanB so in beanB I call the externalContext.sessionMap() looking for beanA and called the method.

    DB:2.44:Deploying Custom Managed Metadata Columns And Content Types Doesnt Create Owl_Taxid_Fieldname Columns After A Full Crawl 1z

    I´m deploying managed metadata columns and content types including the columns via solution feature. I did read lots of articles about how to do that and i think everything is ok.
    For every managed metadata column, i´ve created the corresponding Note field and put the correct reference to the note field into the metadata column. Every custom Content type contains
    metadata_field
    metadata_textfield
    TaxCatchAlll
    TaxCatchAllLabel
    Using the deployed content types in lists and document libraries shows no problems. However after doing a full crawl, for every managed metadata column only the ows_fieldname crawled property is created, not the owl_taxid_fieldname. The consequences of this
    behaviour is that searching for a term by termid doesn´t work. For example, we´re using a third party webpart which display the taxonmoy like a glossar and you can choose an entry. Then a search is done with k=owstaxIdMetadataAllTagsInfo:0TermGUID. This search
    never shows a result, even if there a list entries with the TermGUID.
    However if i create the metadata field and the content type via Sharepoint UI, everything is ok after a full crawl. Both properties ows_fieldname and ows_taxid_fieldname are created after a full crawl and i can search for termGUID.
    So probably something is wrong with the deployed field and content types. But what?

    DB:2.43:Question On Managed Properties p8

    Automatically generated managed properties are new in SharePoint Server 2013. So, for your questions 1 and 2, the answer is “no”.
    In SharePoint Server 2013, all site columns (so, independent of site column type) that contain values automatically become managed properties when they are crawled. Regular columns do not! So, for your question 3, the answer is “no”, as this is not a site
    column. For your question 4, the answer is “yes”, if the site column has values.

    Thinking about this harder, what you should be doing is setting the JTA timeout. You can do this at the EJB method level, or by calling the transaction manager... I think this is better than doing it at the database level.

    I'm not using EJB.

    By the way I discovered that my problem has nothing to do with the Datasource. My mistake was that the IP for the database that I used was wrong all along. Silly me

    When I tried a valid IP (I can ping it), JBoss instantly throws an Exception (this is what I want)

    Sorry for the trouble and thanks for helping!

    DB:2.43:Getting Invalid Property Error While Performing Keyword Search | Fast Search 17

    Hi,

    We are getting “Invalid Property Error” while performing any keyword Search e.g. “Document”.

    Issue priority: High, We are getting this issue on Client QA Machine and this is the one step behind production Deployment.

    Background:

    We are using SharePoint 2010 with Fast SearchWe have 2 WFE with Load Balancer.Also having the configuration 2 Application server, One SQL server, One Fast Search Server and one reporting server.

    Issue:

    we are getting an error of Invalid Properties error on every alternating hits.[First hit ] It gives result count = 500 and displays top 10 results(as per requirement) [Second Hit ] when we click on search button again, It throws an exception of Invalid properties. [Third Hit ] if we again
    click the search button it will showssame result coming from First Hit . [Fourth Hit ] again get the same error coming on Second Hit. However this was the observed behaviour and is not consistent on all pages ( for local search).

    Troubleshooting :

    We had verified all the properties (Crawled and Managed properties) and their mapping manually.while googgling we found some solution and we tried all of following

    Restart Fast Search Servicesverifying Date Time of all the servers.Resetting all the Indexes - Execute “Clear-FASTSearchContentCollection”ClearingCrawled contents.

    Find Attached Log file:-Sharepoint Log file

    DB:2.43:Getting Invalid Property Error While Performing Keyword Search | Fast Search 17

    it seems that there is some configuration issue
    please verify the following.
    1.
    Index roles and query roles are configured properly in the environment.
    2.
    Do they have multiple query roles configured and if yes then are they configured properly. There should not be any failure in case of any request that comes on round robin
    basis.
    3.
    Index propagation works properly in the configured topology.
    4.
    Ask customer to validate the topology/roles configuration difference between the server where it is working with the server where it is not working.

    DB:2.43:Input Normalisation For Property Restricted Search Using The Keyword Search Syntax kz

    Hi guys,
    It seems to be the case that if property restriction is used in a keyword search syntax, the input is not normalised. i.e.
    title:Öcalan will not return the same as title:Ocalan
    Is there a way around this?
    Emir

    DB:2.43:Input Normalisation For Property Restricted Search Using The Keyword Search Syntax kz

    The problem was stemming. For any given field you can only turn on either sub-string support or stemming. Stemming doesn't just convert words to their stem form, it also normalises them into a standard set of characters.

    DB:2.43:Managed Properties In The Advanced Search Page Of Sharepoint Server 2007 cs

    Hi all,
    I want to search a custom field in a SharePoint list by using the Advanced Search page. I followed this post http://interdata.cl/?p=368 and i was able to find all metadata properties without any blank. For example, Ive created columns called
    Baseline, or Milestone and it works properly, but for example, Document Code doesnt works.

    The field shows up correctly in the Advanced Search properties, but whenever I do a search trying to specify my custom property I get the error message: Your search cannot be completed because of a service error. Try your search again or contact your administrator
    for more information..
    if I look at the Managed property in Central administration, it tells me Number of objects with this property: more than 350, so the data is mapped correctly to the property.

    Thanks in advance,
    Javi

    Hi,
    Thanks to share your post.
    For the issue, please make sure that the updates KB955586, KB957693, KB958569 KB958567 have been applied to the indexing server.
    And also please follow the steps:
    1.
    Ensure all servers are patched to the same level (SP1 included)

    2.
    Executed Configuration Wizard on all (This resulted in one server, SSP1, not completing correctly)
    3.
    completed the Infrastructure Update on SSP1 (which failed to upgrade above) and reran the configuration wizard

    DB:2.43:Keyword Query On Property With Date In Query Text 1s

    Hi all,
    I have a managed property, 'onderwerp' linked to the ows_subject value. Datatype is text.
    When setting the subject of a document to the value 'test 16 april 2014 test' the document is not retrieved using the query:
    onderwerp=test 16 april 2014 test
    After some testing I found out that the document is found when using the query:
    onderwerp=test 16 04 2014 test
    When changing the document subject to'test 16
    ipral 2014' the problem dissapears.

    It seems that the search application recognizes a date value in the middle of a text value, and I have to adapt my queries to this. I can't find a setting to disable this behavior. Is this something that can be disabled?
    Thanks

    DB:2.43:Keyword Query On Property With Date In Query Text 1s

    Hi Rens012,
    for the exact match, as i know KQL store those words in full textindex, so for example, if you search onlypart of the words, the result is only that word, unless you put wildcard operator. but it is a must prefix matching,

    for example search doc*
    in your situation, when you query test 16 april 2014 test, the result should be 'test''16''april''2014''test'.
    i assume that you already have a document name, 'test 16 april 2014 test'.
    its quite strange if the result of the document is not appear. perhaps you can put also double quote at the query string to have a try.

    DB:2.43:How To Include Custom Managed Metadata In Fulltextsqlquery Searches? kf

    Hi,
    I am using spservices jquery libraries to make sql search queries to the search service. I created a managed metadata called DocumentGUID which is mapped to the document guid crawled property. I ran a full crawl and when I try this query, the result contains
    no field for the DocumentGUID. I did some research and found these:

    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2293066/how-do-i-perform-a-moss-fulltextsqlquery-and-filter-people-results-by-the-skills
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/17644/sp-2010-fulltextsqlquery-display-managed-properties-in-query-results

    It seems I need to enable them. So from the first link, I am trying this c# console app, that will do it for me, but I am getting errors with the code.
    These two
    using Microsoft.Office.Server;
    using Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration;
    are not being found....
    Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks.

    {
    if (!managedProperties.Contains(managedProperty.Name.ToUpper()))
    continue;

    if (managedProperty.FullTextQueriable)

    managedProperty.FullTextQueriable = true;
    managedProperty.Update();
    Console.WriteLine(Successfully set managed property {0} to be FullTextQueriable: managedProperty.Name);
    }
    catch (Exception e)
    {

    DB:2.43:How To Include Custom Managed Metadata In Fulltextsqlquery Searches? kf

    Did you include a reference in your VS solution for Microsoft.office.server.dll?
    In solution explorer, right click the references entry, and choose add new reference. In the window that pops up, choose the SharePoint tab and find Microsoft.Office.Server.dll and add it.

    DB:2.42:Caml Support For Managed Metadata Column To Include Descendant Items cp

    Hi
    I'm extending the content query webpart to filter based on the managed metadata column. Since I cannot use the OOTB filter properties, I'm overriding the QueryOverride property passing in a custom CAML query. The OOTB filter supports a property Include
    terms under selection which includes items from descendant termsas well. Supposethere is a Term called News and Child terms as Sports, Politics. If a content is tagged to Sports, then a filter value set to News will display items tagged with Sports/Politics
    terms as well.
    Since I'm using my own caml query without these filters, I'm not able to set a property toget descendant items as well. I don't think there is a CQWP property which allows me to do this at the webpart level. Is it possible to specify this in the CAML
    query?
    Thanks

    DB:2.42:Caml Support For Managed Metadata Column To Include Descendant Items cp

    Search API is a good choice, too. As long as you're okay with there being a slight lag (based on your crawl schedule), that should be fine. Glad you got it figured out!Bart McDonough | Incline Technical Group

    DB:2.42:Why Aren't Album Keyword Tags Written To Metadata Using Write Keyword Tag... Command 73

    When I display file properties within organizer it shows albums as keyword tags but after using the "Write Keyword Tag and Properties Info to File" command, the album keywords do not make it to the metadata.

    Why is this? I would really like for it to work.

    I am using PSE version 8. Does it change in version 9?

    Thank you!

    DB:2.42:Why Aren't Album Keyword Tags Written To Metadata Using Write Keyword Tag... Command 73

    I agree that, although Albums behave quite differently from keywords, their appearance in a "Keywords" panel is confusing. That tab in the "Properties" panel should be named "Organizing Criteria", but that would cause great consternation for the casual user that PSE is aimed at.

    If you simply need the organization hierarchy of your Albums to be written to the photo file, you can create the same hierarchy as a keyword hierarchy.
