DB:3.20:Plesk Not Allowed! Disk Space At 100% 31

    Hi

First I hope I am posting this in the correct place, apologies in advance if its in the wrong forum!

I am running - Virtuozzo container
    Plesk Version: psa-8.6.0-cos5.build86080722.00
OS Version: CentOS release 5.2 (Final)

    Architecture:
    Linux (My Domain) 2.6.18-028stab070.2 #1 SMP Tue Jul 6 14:34:09 MSD 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Ive been having issues with my access to Plesk over the past 3/4 weeks, at the time I didnt have the opportunity to look into it fully but it seems now I have lost the operation of my main domain that runs a VBulletin database it has now become 100% priority. I have tried requesting support from my ISP but they havent been answering emails over the Christmas Holidays.

    Plesk has been working fine for the past 3 years so its only the last 3/4/ weeks Ive had issues. When I try to login to the control panel @ [My-Ip-Address]:8443/vz/cp/panel/plesk/frameset I get the following error;

    Screen Cap:
    http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e141/xrayhead/ScreenShot2012-12-31at145705_zpsbdb2b01e.png

I did read a thread on here where someone had the same problem and it was down to disk space. So Ive tried clearing log files via Shell and deleting all the old directories I no longer use via FTP in my HTTP DIR. As soon as I free up space within 10/15 minutes its back to 100% usage.

    [root@My-Domain ~]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    /dev/vzfs 5.0G 938M 0 100% /
    none 128M 4.0K 128M 1% /dev
    /dev/vzfs 5.0G 938M 0 100% /var/named/run-root/var/run/dbus

This is also now causing my SQL server to give error messages due to disk space.

I would really appreciate some help with this as my website has now been down for over a week :-(

    Many thanks, Lee

DB:3.20:Plesk Not Allowed! Disk Space At 100% 31

My site is back up and running now!

As to the issues I was having, I just found out that my service provider had just been sold to a new company, new years day I lost all connectivity to my VPS, SHELL and so on. About 13:00 the server came back on-line and was down to 16% disk pace used!!

This did not fix the PLESK issue, I had to ring support and after two days I was told it was a global issue with PLESK and it had been resolved.

So I think your suggestion of the container being moved is correct!

    Many thanks for the reply.

I have more then 100 Gb free space and get the following message when trying to install the backup utilties:

The Backup Utilities v7.0.x installation script for Plesk v7.0.x.

=== Check for Plesk installation ... done
=== Check for Plesk version ... done
=== Check for OS version ...done
=== Check integrity ... ERROR: Not enough free disk space, required for Backup/Restore Utilities installation.

Im using RH9 and Plesk 7.0.0.

    Any ideas?

DB:3.09:Backup Utilities: Not Enough Free Disk Space a8

someone addressed this installer bug over in the troubleshooting forum HERE .

That does seem to fix the disk space check error. I had other issues myself which has left portions of my control panel inoperable after installing the BU utils. I suspect this is due to an odd install by my providers though ... just be careful!

DB:3.08:Restore Error: There Is Not Enough Space On The Disk pc

When restoring a backup on Plesk 12, the error below is generated for some sites and the sites are only partially restored. Although the message talks about disk space, there is in fact plenty of free disk space - i.e. many GB. The backup was created on Plesk 11.5. The restore on Plesk 11.5 works.

    Is this a known problem?

I noticed that all the failed domains exceed the disk space allowed by their Service Plan. However, the Overuse is allowed setting is selected. Strangely, I tried changing the Service Plan and retrying the backup and restore, and the same errors were generated.

    Hi,

We have a Plesk 7.5.6 server running on Windows 2003 which I am experiencing trouble with.

The server has one physical disk partitioned into two (C/D).

    Partition C is 12GB and D is 124GB

On partition C the used space is 11GB out of the 12GB. If I select everything on C, it comes to a total of 3.75GB and not 11GB. I also understand there is the pagefile which is at 2GB - not included in above 3.75GB.

Where is the space going? I checked the volume shadow copy service and its disabled for both partitions.

Can anyone perhaps give some ideas as where the space is going to?

    Any pointers much appreciated.

    DB:2.97:Disk Space Gone/Missing 37

Ive also seen this some time ago on a 7.5.6 box. Have a look for something like c:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\xxxxxx\in\slave.conf (where xxxxxx is the name of the directory containing all your movies). If you find it youll see the configuration file for this with all the directions for phoning home etc. Its not pretty, time for an OS reinstall for sure.

    DB:2.96:Disk Space Calculation d7

Look in the cronjob list and see what exact path/script is being run (I dont have a 7.1 server) and then execute it from the SSH shell prompt. This will force the stats to be updated immediately instead of waiting for the once a day run.

Has anyone with a better understanding give me an idea as to this issue. Would it simply be a restriction from my hosting company, or am I missing something? i.e. a related component install. Ive searched the forums and cant seem to find an answer.

Im running out of disk space, but I shouldnt be. Im trying to back up some sites, but its failing because its running out. It seems the server may not be configured correctly because its only allocating 4.8GB to web sites and the disk is 80GB.

Here is what is show in plesk system statistics:

DB:2.92:Top 3 Bug Fixes/Feature Requests For Plesk! Please Read! 9a

    Hello!

I have been seeing that there are some features that have been asked to fixed many times, but despite the Parallels has been pushing out new versions of Plesk, they have not been so far fixed in Plesk 9.x branch.

I shall one more time try to list the most important things that I personally (and I hope many others) would gladly see to be fixed and implemented in Plesk 9.5. However, I have seen the Plesk 9.5s ETA and it still doesnt seem to fix these.

Please include these fixes in the immediate future releases of Plesk. Please I beg you, Parallels! These are I.M.P.O.R.T.A.N.T! IgorG, could you please one more time check these trough and inform the developers of Plesk for immediate fixes?

    1. Behaviour fix for Plesk Overuse Policy

Plesk gives admin only options to:
    - Overuse is not allowed
(Overuse policy tells Parallels Plesk Panel what to do when resources are overused)
    -Overuse is allowed
(Do not block the overuse of resources, allowing the domain to use more resources than initially provided. Actual resource usage can exceed the initial resource allocation)

    Explanation of the behaviour:

The first option - by the way - simply means that client or domain is just suspended, if the bandwith or disk space is overused, other resources cannot be overused, which of latter is basically a good thing as no admin does not want users to be freely able to create more maiboxes or databases than set in the template resources when creating web hosting packages. However simply suspending the domain is not a good thing as no client will be happy for their sites to go offline. This is not good!

The second option fixes the problem so that admin and/or domain account wont be suspended due the overusage of bandwith or disk space, but at the same time this option allows clients to create freely as many as other resources they want to, without paying for them (as they dont need to upgrade the web hosting package at all, but are able to create as many as mailboxes and databases they want despite the set limits) So this is not good either!

So fixing this would be very important as neither of the options is suitable for professional web site hosting, as Plesk should be able.

(And yes, I know that the problem can be avoided by selecting overusage is not allowed but defining unlimited in the disk space and bandwith, and define so called soft limits in parts nofify uporn reaching - which is basically the only way to configure Plesk at the moment. However, this has a downside: no statistics work properly in Plesk GUI after that configuration has been made, as every limit compared is always Unlimited. So this is not a good either, but so far the only working option!)

I suggest fixing this with one of the following suggestions:

    1. Change the behaviour of selection Overuse is allowed so that it allows overusage of bandwith and disk space, but wont allow client to create more any other resources as defined in the templates/resources page. (Nobody needs the feature that would allow users to create more mailboxes or databases than defined in the template/resources page! And if they need, they can set their corresponding limits to unlimited) This would be the most easy way to fix this problem and revert the behaviour of Plesk 8.x in this matter when using overuse is allowed.

    OR.

    2. If you would like to make things even better than in Plesk 8.x you could implement more choises in Overuse policy - there could be like:

    - Overuse is allowed in disk space and bandwith but not on other resources
    - Overuse is not allowed and if the limits are reached do the following:
subselection: * Do nothing (but send the e-mail notifications)
subselection: * Redirect the domain to following location: http://...
    subselection: * Suspend the domain

But I would be very happy to have even the fix mentioned in the first suggestion!

    2. Behaviour fix for Interface Management template settings:

    Explanation of the problematic behaviour:

The problem is that no admin wants to allow clients to do anything freely in control panel in client account. There are some features in Plesk (like suspending and unsuspending the domain) that should not be set by client (as the clients doesnt seem to understand the meaning of some settings.)

However, admin cannot disable some features from clients withouth disabling them from the admin account too. For example if I go with admin account to modify the Default Domain Owner Home Page in Interface management and disable the Domain Information - Status feature, which disables clients to shut down their domains, at the same time I disable it from my admin account on which it is not visible any more. This is not a good thing!

I suggest fixing this with one of the following suggestions:

    1. Override all template settings so that no features is disabled from admin account wether what selections have been made in Default Domain Owner Home Page, Default Client Home Page or Default Reseller Home Page. These should not never apply to admin account!

(In my opinion there is a design flaw in Plesk 9.x related to this where these templates are targeted to different pages instead of different user levels, but this should be enought to keep us Plesk admins happy and its an easy and fast fix!)

    OR

    2. If you want to make this work very good, I suggest to interface management so that there should be different templates for each user levels. This is specifically crucial in Default Domain Owner Home Page and Default Client Home page which is not shown only for domain owners/clients, but is also the default GUI in admin account too when setting any domain/client properties.

Using the current Plesk template logic, the best way to handle this problem (and I guess it would be even easier to implemet) would be just adding a templates in Interface management - meaning more than the current four:

    - Default Administrator Home Page
    - Default Reseller Home Page
    - Default Client Home Page
    - Default Domain Owner Home Page

These should be like as follows:

    - Default Administrator Home Page
    - Default Reseller Home Page for reseller
    - Default Reseller Home Page for admin
    - Default Client Home Page for client
    - Default Client Home Page for reseller
    - Default Client Home Page for admin
    - Default Domain Owner Home Page for domain owner
    - Default Domain Owner Home Page for client
    - Default Domain Owner Home Page for reseller
    - Default Domain Owner Home Page for admin

Using these 10 templates instead of 4 is the easiest solution for fixing this properly, as there would be a proper template in each case - not only depending on the page - but also what is the type of user account on the page. This would be the most viable solution allowing admin to set every single detail (showing or not showing) for each user level.

This way we Plesk admins could easily define which of the options are allowed for different levels of users, not only to allow or disallow them from all.

Also, it should be possible to set more precisely which of the features are allowed and which are not. For example in Plesk 9.x no subpages in Plesk GUI cannot be disabled from clients, as they were able to disable in Plesk 8.x. (For e.g. I personally would allow my clients to be able to take Backups but not be able to go to Scheduled Backup Settings, which causes more trouble than benefit to my clients. This is not possibled anymore in Plesk 9.x, its only possible to allow or dissallow all the backup features.

    3. Bug fix for Scheduled Backuping

    Explanation of the problematic behaviour:

If client sets scheduled backup and doesnt notice to unclick the selection Suspend domains until backup task is completed in Scheduled Backup Settings and activate the task, Plesk disables the domain during the backup and some cases wont enable it back online and/or some cases enables the domain but the e-mail doesnt work anymore.
    http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=100144

    ---

These are my TOP 3 bug fixes / feature request for current branch of Plesk 9.x. I hope somebody in Parallels would take these in notice and could convince the developers of Plesk how crucially important it is to have at least these fixed as soon as possible.

These very same flaws have been running since Plesk 9.0 (some even from Plesk 8.x, like the scheduled backup bug). Please fix these at last!

I know that Parallels isnt actively reading this forum but I havent had opportunity to tell these things by no other means. (I guess IgorG from Parallels is reading some, IgorG please comment something on this if you see my message!)

I am also frustrated that these features (1 and 2) have been requested over 2 years now (from the beginning of Plesk 9.0) but despite it Parallels have been not able to fix these, even though these have been reported to developement team by IgorG many times before.

I myself have a lot of expectations in forcoming Plesk 9.5, but I happened to see its ETA on the web for a short time and these bugs / feature flaws wasnt mentioned to be fixed in Plesk 9.5 either (though it seemed that some of the important fixes, like new versions for Horde and PhpMyAdmin as well as the IE8 compatibility were applied, which for I didnt wrote those on this thread.)

Please, please Parallels! Hear the requests of your humble customers! Fix these. Its very important that the Plesk panel should work properly! I also encourage everybody who reads this thread to support my requests by replying to this thread. So if you aggree with me that these are the most important fixes that should be applied immediately, support my request by saying something or replying by your own feature requests!

    Dear Users

As you all know that in Plesk 8.6 there were basically following levels
    Administrator Clients Domain Users
If we assign 100 MB space to Client with permission to distribute the space within 2 domains , if he allocated 50 MB to 1 domain he could allocate 50 MB to another whcih is as per industry standard billing practice .

In plesk 9.0.1 a new feature of overselling is intraduced which works as follows
    Administrator Reseller Clients Domain user

In plesk 9.0.1 Reseller group came into picture which could also create clients under him as per permissions given to him
If we assign 100 MB to reseller and enable overselling he could allocate more than 100 MB IE 1000 MB to client and reseller will be billed on actual resource consumption . The reseller could also create direct domains under him and the client created by reseller could also create direct domains under him .

NOW FOLLOING IS THE GREATEST BUG !!!! BE ALERT

In case if we disable overselling following happens.

If we assign 100 MB to reseller with 2 or more domains and DISABLE overselling .

CASE1 : He created a client under him with 100 MB with 2 domains it gives error that resource required is more than alloted . SEEMS OK
CASE2 : He creates a domain under him 100 MB IE 10000000 MB it allows overselling even when overselling is switched OFF .

CASE3 : If he creates a client 100 MB within his resources under him . IT gets created but in turn that client is allowed to oversell even if overselling is barred .

NOW WE ALL ARE AT STAKE BECAUSE EVEN IF WE DO NOT WANT THE OVERSELLING FEATURE WE ARE BEING FORCED TO OVERSELL DUE TO PLESK BUG .

We have ran into a problem with space for backups on one domain, although we have deleted the backups its not being reflected in space, if you look at virtuosso you can see that the server is using:

32.6 GB free of 50.0 GB

however if you look at the domain imro.ie its over 38gig for just that domian.

Because of this the site remains suspended until I run the command:

    /usr/local/psa/bin/domain -u imro.ie -status enabled

Which works temporarily however I know that overnight PLESK will suspend the doamin again as it did last nigth.

Ive also tried changing the setting:
Settings Server Settings When calculating disk space usage, count to file size
    but it made no difference.

Is there a command line I can use to syncronise the VPS with Plesk on this domain?

What I have noticed recently in Plesk is that firstly, (in Webalizer) in the Top 30 of 83 Total URLs and Top 10 of 26 Total Exit Pages there always seems to be /error_docs/not_found.html at the top of each of these. Is this normal? Or can anyone explain? Secondly, I have also noticed that Real disk space amount changes on a daily basis, however, the site has remained the same. (No extra pages added) Again, can anyone explain, or is Plesk not correctly set up?

    Thanks

DB:2.84:Error Docs And Real Disk Space zc

1.) That means there is a link to a non-existant page somewhere on the site or perhaps a file which is called on a page which is not there for the server to access. One thats getting lots of hits too by the sound of it. The fastest way to find which file(s) the message is referring to is to take a look at your error logs for the site. FTPing in youll see a folder called logs at the root of that domain. Youll want to look at the error_log inside that folder. Or if youre SSHing in the path would be at /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/domain.com/logs on a Plesk standard install.

2.) This is normal actually. It just means that your log files (error_log and access_log) are filling up. You can control that growth by rotating your logs weekly (instead of Monthly or Never) in the Plesk GUI. If youre using Webalizer to track the traffic make sure you enable Incremental processing enabled so that you dont loose your info every week.

I have the problem that i have 2 HD and the first is quite full. I would like to use the second HD in Plesk.
Have you some instructions about using the second HD in plesk ?
Yes. At the moment. In my experience the second drive , with Plesk, is useful only to store backups. I have not any backup , then, it is useful for nothing. My problem is that with 100 domains , i have in /home/httpd/vhosts/ 25 GB of files php. I do not store any backup at the moment in the second drive. My problem is that if possible i would like to move some domains (the php files) from /home/httpd/vhosts/ in the first hard disk to a location in the second hard disk , but is it possible to change the dir that refer plesk from /home/httpd/vhosts/ to a location in the second server ?
What is the system to use the second HD in Plesk ? If it is not possible for me to use the second HD in Plesk the second HD is not useful for nothing. Have you some instructions about using the second HD in plesk ?

I recently bought me a new key for Plesk Reloaded. Im currently running Plesk 7.0.3, but I want to upgrade it.

    Im running over a 100 domains on my server, and downtime is expensive. So I though; lets install Plesk Reloaded at home, make the backup via Remote, install the backup at home and bring the server to the colocation center and switch them. It minimizes the downtime for me. So the question is;

Is it possible/allowed to install my new key at home while my old key is still running on my server?

    Hello!

Im pretty new to the plesk admin world and Im getting some troubles that are turning me crazy. Ive searched through this forum, google several times but I just found nothing. Here are the description:

Quotas and Traffic count are not working in plesk.

System: Debian etch with user and group quotas activated in the /var partition.

Symptoms: Ive created a domain based on a preconfigured Domain Template. In this domain template Overuse is not allowed and Ive stablished a Disk space Limit of 20 MB and a Traffic limit of 50MB (just for testing!). Ive, also, selected Physical hosting with a hard disk quota of 20 MB (same as previous selected disk space limit). Theoretically, everything should be alright BUT!...

    - When I connect to the hosting via FTP (using FileZilla Client) and I transfer a file I get the first message that tells me something is wrong:

    Answer: 226-Transfer complete
    Answer: 226 Quotas off

    Quotas off =oS

    - Lets check the disk status for this domain in plesk: Disk usage: 0 MB. ooops! Plesk didnt notice the uploaded file.

    - Lets check what Debian has to tell about this:

    # quota ecotur
Disk quotas for user ecotur (uid 10001):
Filesystem blocks quota limit grace files quota limit grace
    /dev/mapper/vg01-var
    6856 0 20480 156 0 0

So, SOs quotas are working but plesk didnt notice that change.

    - Lets download the file and check the traffic for this domain in plesk: Traffic: 0.00 MB/month. Plesk also didnt notice neither the upload nor the download transfer.

OK, something is really not working. Lets restart the server. ... Nothing!. BUT after 24 hours the disk space was updated. =o|.

May be is there any cron doing the job, but... which one?

Yet another test: I deleted the file. The disk usage didnt changed. Should be 0 MB but it says 6.8 MB.

Finally, the traffic still is 0.00 MB/month. Its curious because the AWstats reflects the traffic correctly.

Whats wrong with plesk? Im completely lost. I dont know what to do.

Perhaps the solution is creating a new cron executing that MAGIC script which updates the information BUT, whats the script?

Could you, please, give me some advice or some light on this?

    Thank you so much.

    Hi,

    2) Overuse of disk space and traffic is allowed

    3) Overuse is allowed (not recommended)

All 3 apply to a Resellers subscription.

Firstly, why should we care on the policy the reseller adopts for its subscriptions? Its nothing to do with us. The Overuse option for Resellers should aply to the Reseller account. But it doesnt. We have overusing resellers that are not getting suspended when the stats run like on Plesk 9.

DB:2.77:How To Prevent Customer From Using More Server Space Than It Is Allowed? xm

    Hi Guys,

Im having alot of problem with one of my customer who constantly uses more server space than what they are paying.

Basically, they pay for 500mb server space but they continously exceed their server space to nearly 1 Gig.

This is my setting for them. This customer have 2 domain names. Thus I give them a Client Access.

    1) Under client access, I limit their Disk space to 500 mb

    2) Under each of the domain, I limit their Disk space to 100 mb for 1 domain and 400 mb for the other domain.

    3) Under the Setup, I limit their Hard Disk Quota to 100 mb for 1 domain and 400 mb for the other domain.

After doing all this, they still can upload files that are more than what is allowed.

    How can I prevent this?

It seem that when they upload files, it just go through.

Example: Domain 2 have 400 mb.

The customer upload 1 file via FTP that is 600 mb. The FTP will allow them to upload all the 600 mb because it is one single file. But after they upload the 600 mb, they wont be able to upload it anymore.

Thus this customer become smarter, what he did is he zip up all the files that he want to upload and upload 1 file to the FTP thus, even though he upload a 1 gig zip file, it will still goes through.

The funny part with Plesk is, even though the customer used up all the approved server space. They still can send and receive email without any problem.

So how do I prevent such customer from abusing the server space.

Ive tried charging them but they claim that they do not have any control on how their client upload the files and they say the problem is on my side as my server unable to prevent them from upload more than what they are suppose to do.

    Hmm....... any advise?

    Thanks

DB:2.77:How To Prevent Customer From Using More Server Space Than It Is Allowed? xm

Large files is an issue with Plesk (and the quota system), what I recommend is you give them control panel access so they can verify how much storage space theyre using. Customers who know their limitations and still, constantly abuse the service sounds like a bad customer to keep.

    /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts
    /usr/local/psa/mysql/var
    /usr/local/psa

Its given in 1K blocks. So if I can count that means 2.06 milioen 1K blocks or some 2GB space. Is this the full space of a HD or the HD space that Plesk is allowed to use? For a dedicated server that should have a 40GB harddisk it seems strange to me... FreeBSB + Plesk + MySQL + Sendmail + Bind + etc using 38GB...

I would have expected a simple answer in relative short time but I keep forgetting that this is as good as it gets here.

FYI: for future reference click the Help link at the top of the page which opens the online help, in the contents scroll down to Appendix D. Appendix D shows some of the property details but not all. Under the Web Limits section we can see the definition for Allowed Disk Space, Allowed Disk Space Soft Limit.

    At present Soft Limit:
Allowed Disk Space Soft Limit. This is the so-called soft quota: when it is exceeded, the user account and domain names/web sites are not suspended automatically, only the appropriate notices are sent to your and your customers e-mail addresses and the resource overage is indicated by the icon shown in your and your customers control panels to the left of the user name or domain name. You can also specify disk space allocated for each domain.

I have a plesk 5 server on redhat 7.3, ext3 with journal with all of the patches etc installed.

I am getting notifications that some vhosts exceeded their limits. I checked and this is not true, for example an email is saying that:

Limit has been exceeded on domain foros.pl owned by client foros (Contact name Foros):
    Disk space usage: 112124718
    Disk space limit: 104857600
    Traffic: 69585857
    Traffic limit: 10485760000

The plesk panel in the domain configuration says

Resource Used Allowed Resource Used Allowed
    Disk space 107MB 100MB Mailboxes 11 Unlimite

(notice, it says it uses 107mb of 100 allowed)

but when I check the filesystem I find out that this is not true

    [root@master vhosts]# du -csh foros.pl/*
    12k foros.pl/anon_ftp
    52k foros.pl/bin
    8.0k foros.pl/cert
    4.0k foros.pl/cgi-bin
    4.0k foros.pl/conf
    20k foros.pl/error_docs
    8.0k foros.pl/ftpstat
    9.2M foros.pl/httpdocs
    8.0k foros.pl/httpsdocs
    96k foros.pl/logs
    4.0k foros.pl/pd
    4.0k foros.pl/web_users
    980k foros.pl/webstat
    8.0k foros.pl/webstat-ssl
    11M total

I just ran the /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/statistics to make sure the data was not deleted after the statistics program was run in the night but it still says the same. WHat might be wrong with this? It happends for some more domains, not only this one.

DB:2.70:Parallels Plesk 11 Problems With Error Log Rotation 3k

Hi, we have discovered problems with error log file rotation process on our instance of Parallels Plesk 11 that we have started running just a short time ago.

We actually discovered the problem when our disk space exceeded its limits, from 15% to 100% of 25GB in less than 24 hours. After reviewing file directory we see that we have two error log files in /log diretory, one error_log.1 with over 6GB and another error_log with over 12GB and increasing at at a rate than more than 1GB per hour.

The content of such large files was due to warning logs originated from the website from internal processes (which are temporarily paused), nevertheless this is not the core problem, but error log files that are not rotating as they should be expected to. We actually expect Parallels Plesk to manage whichever amount of error logs, with complete independence of the ratio of which these error messages can or could be generated.
In Domain configuration - Logs - Log rotation it is configured as by default, with log maximum size as 10240 KB, and 10 maximum per day, but for some reason this is not working as it should.

We have also reviewed other posts with what seem to be similar issues to this, although we have not encountered any straight forward solution that solves something that in first instance seems to be a basic functionality.

We would thank any help from anybody that has had to mange with this issue, since we suppose we are not the first that have encountered this. Right now it is impossible for our customer to have a productive environment with this website, so any help would be really appreciated!!

    Thanks in advance!! Best regards!!
    Adrian.

    I created 2 backups:
    - domain configuration
    - domain configuration content

    Domain stat:
    Disk space 52 504 MB

    Bug:
    - Both backups show up as being 32KB in size.

    Performance/bug:
When trying to download the backup that includes domain content a gzip and perl process become active which results in 100% CPU usage. At this point the only option is to kill both tasks via command line as Plesk CP/websites no longer load.

DB:2.69:Error With Disk Space On Plesk 8x

    Hi everyone!

The other day I almost run out of disk space in out plesk server, and I made a script to delete older mail from out domain.

The thing is that, through plesk, I see my domain with about 4 GB information, but I deleted over 7 GB and that information doesnt get reflected anywhere except on disk space usage!!

I have realized after this, that the user and domain disk quota doesnt count with mail disk space usage!!! Thats quite dangerous, because we have over 100 domains and we though that the space they pay for includes also mail space, not only web space!!!

    Has anyone encountered this also?
Is there any way to reflect the mail space quota on plesk? because right now my clients rely on the space information on plesk to know what they can use, but it is not accurate as it doesnt reflect mail!!!

DB:2.69:Error With Disk Space On Plesk 8x

I am still working on this... I cannot control the real space used by my users...

    any ideas???

DB:2.69:Error When Trying To Upgrade From 8.3 To 8.4 Help Please :-) xx

    Hi,

I am running Plesk 8.3 on a Go Daddy VDS with Fedora Core 6.
When I run the updater to update to 8.4 I get:

The following could cause the installation failure:
Packages bind-libs-31:9.3.4-7.P1.fc6.i386 and bind-libs-31:9.3.4-8.P1.fc6.i386 cannot be installed at the same time because of the conflict on the file /usr/lib/libbind.so.4

    Any ideas?

What about just trying to upgrade right to 8.6 and bypassing the 8.4 upgrade?

    Cheers,

    Marcus

    Cheers,

    Marcus

    DB:2.69:Site Disk Space Usage fa

    Hi,

Ive added a few sites onto a Plesk 8.1 installation, and ive migrated a few sites from a Plesk 7.5 machine too. On both instances, I have checked the disk space limits, and the limit is correct but the disk space usage shows as 0B at all times, no matter how much space is used. I then went into Reports - Full Report, and checked the Mail Names, and saw there was 1 mailbox with 2.33MB in use, but the total Mail Names disk use still shows as 0B, as does the Web usage... Also, Traffic stats are fine, just Disk Space usage. Using Ubuntu 6.06 x86_64/amd64 here.

    Suggestions?

    Nathan.

Couldnt find it in my cron job ANYWHERE. Might be some missing issue or something?

Anyways.. it works for me now.. I can see monthly bandwith statistics as well as hdd usage. kewl

    DB:2.68:Disk Usage Wrong z3

    Dear,

Ive a problem with one of my domains on Plesk 11 for linux panel.
For some strange reason the plesk Panel for 1 domain is reporting a huge amount of diskspace marked as other. When I log on to the server and run a du command on the location where the domain is installed I only see a few 100MBs of disk space used. (so it seems that on disk theres no data ..)

I have this issue with just 1 domain, all others are working fine. Now last night plesk was also triggering an alarm that disk space on /var is critical low, so i guess that there is really some data.

How can I see if there is realy that much data or not ?

When I run a statistics update on the console the diskspace shown in plesk is again normal but for some reason it increasing..

    With regards,

    Steve Vos

    DB:2.68:Disk Usage Wrong z3

This will likely be the log files for the domain (error_log or access_log). If you go into /var/www/vhosts/domain/statistics/logs and check the sizes of the logs in there youll see what the cause is/

DB:2.68:Upgrading Plan - Domain Templates zp

Well, first of all, I think is ridiculous Plesk doesn´t have an automatic upgrade system in the Domain Templates. I think that this isue is about time to be improved.

The question is, how to upgrade my costumer´s plan ?

I have a costumer that assigned a plan with 100 Mb of hard disk and not supposed to be allowed to use PHP.

How can I upgrade the plan to 200 mb of hard disk and allowe to use PHP ?

About how to allow or forbid PHP, ASP, etc, I couldn´t find anything editing the costumer´s limits.

About upgrading the hard disk quota, I think there´s a difference between disk space and hard disk space and the problem is that editing the limits you can change the disk space, but not the hard disk quota.

If anyone knows, I´d appreciate any help.

    Regards

However, I do agree with you that it would be perfect if we could apply a template to a domain that already has properties set. This is something I would love to see as my customers tend to upgrade their packages alot too.

DB:2.68:Allow Limits To Behave Like They Used To... 7k

My suggestion, make the limits have an option to behave like they did in Plesk 8.x, 7.x and probably earlier. In those versions, traffic and disk usage were allowed to exceed the limit if you chose to allow it but email accounts, databases, etc. were not allowed to go over the set limits. In 9.x, if you allow over usage at all, it allows over usage of everything and then sends customers confusing notification emails about being over their plan even though the email doesnt include what theyre actually over on since they only include disk and traffic. We bill for going over on traffic and disk and do not want to allow customers to go over on email accounts, etc.; we can no longer prevent that since we cant shut sites off when they hit their traffic limit obviously.

    Hi,

We have 2 plesk machines on FreeBSD 4.9 with the same problem. Both are running Plesk 7.5.4.

After running the updater in the plesk control panel, it shows: Release 7.5.4, available operations: updating or adding new components.
However, when I click this, in the following screen it only says: Base packages of Plesk, with your release and latest release empty, and status: not installed.
    No other packages are showing.

This cant be right, can it?
The machines are working perfectly, have been updated a while ago (via the updater) to plesk 7.5.4.
I dont know if this problem occured immediately after that update or later.

What to do? Im afraid to install these base packages because I think something is wrong, and installing them over the already existing plesk could render plesk unusable.

    DB:2.68:File Manager Problems ? zz

    **RESOLVED** File Manager problems ?

    Hi Guys,

    another Plesk problem:

When I try to change the permissions of the file or directory the window of File Manager is not opening and I get this:

FileManager::get_file_info_wrapper() failed: filemng util failed: Unable to load the domain
(PLHOST01W3) user (pl10556) profile: (112) There is not enough space on the disk.

load the domain (PLHOST01W3) user (pl10556) profile: (112) There is not enough space on the
    disk.)
    1: C:\Program Files\SWsoft\Plesk\admin\htdocs\domains\webdirs\webdir_permissions.php:51

The strange thing is that I got this error only on some domains maybe a 100 or more.
Sure, there *IS* enough space on the disk.

Maybe this is a problem of domain quota but even when I set unlimited space for the domain and the client I got always the same error.

The problem raised when I got the server updated from 7.5.4 to 7.5.6 - now I have upgraded to 8.1.1 but it persists.

    Same problem anyone?

    Update 22.10.2007:
    The solution is here :

    Can you try this:

Domains Domain Templates Click on your template.
Add your client domains limits in [Limits] section and uncheck ones from Physical hosting (if any)

DB:2.67:Mysql And Mssql Quota Problem!! 9f

    Hello all,

I just installed a FRESH copy of Plesk 7.5.2 on my windows 2003 STD Server. After creating few domains I received notification email saying:

Limit has been exceeded on domain domain.com owned by client administrator (Contact name Administrator):
    Disk space usage: 5.12 M
    Disk space limit: 500 M
    Traffic: 7.91 M
    Traffic limit: 39.1 G

Here it looks like everything is ok but, when I login in to my control panel as admin I see that under:

    MySQL database quota 0 B 100 B
Microsoft SQL database quota Used: 0 B Allowed: 100 B

There is missing the M just before B so right now it shows me MySQL and MSSQL under Allowed in Bytes B instead of MB

    Anyone noticed the same problem?

If yes please let me know.

    Best regards

    Henry

i am so surprised that no one post a comment on that,

could you discover is it Bytes or MegaBytes? i believe that it is Bytes.... i have the same issue

Btw Plesk does not calculates the clients MSSQL usage, do you have such an issue also?

DB:2.66:How To Get Subscription Details Manually pd

We have a problem in that Plesk reseller clients can go over their disk quotas which are specified in the PBAS hosting plan.

ie. The Plesk reseller package purchased via PBAS allows unlimited domains, but, disk limit of 5GB. If they want more disk space they can order it via PBAS.

It turns out that the 5GB limit is not enforced (at least on the Plesk 8.x nodes).

Obviously as the disk quota is not enforced the customer has no need to upgrade.

Work around will have to be to manually check the PBAS database and Plesk nodes for Plesk Clients and quotas.

    Can anyone suggest:

1/ SQL query to get all plesk clients from PBAS and disk quota for each
2/ SQL query to get get all plesk clients plesk node details from PBAS
3/ Plesk API call to ask the Plesk server about how much disk usage the clients are using
4/ SQL query to get cost of additional disk space for plesk client in PBAS

Was just hoping someone already had details of queries like this before I start looking through the PBAS database.

    Thanks

We are now looking for solution to provide reliable hosting with large disk space (couple of gigs) and therefore purchasing EMC CX300 SAN as a storage solution. To increase availability we going to have a two Linux servers as a HA cluster (probably running RHEL + RedHat Cluster Suite). Has anyone experience running Plesk on Linux cluster? Or maybe there are some other (better) ways to organise HA Plesk hosting? Im not quite aware of HSP/PEM features - maybe they already support clustered Plesk servers?

    Thank you.

DB:2.65:Domain Template Overrides Clients Template? zp

    Hello,

I have a problem with Clients/Domains templates since Plesk version 9x.
We have Client templates which defines limits for resource usage and then there is domains templates that Client can use for different domains. Problem is, if I set 1GB of hard disk space for some Client, and an option to create 5 domains, each of those domains can be created with 1GB space, which is very wrong since that Client has only 1GB allowed of hard disk space. All 5 domains should be fitted into those 1GB but not to overuse clients resources (overuse is not allowed is already set for client and domain). This was working perfectly on 8x versions...

For the moment, my only solution is to set hard disk quota for domains, and Clients/domains resources had to be set on unlimited otherwise domains will be suspended if someone overuse resources.

Is there any normal solution, except above mentioned?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello Buddies,
I am facing some problem in my Plesk Control Panel for which I hope somebody has a solution.

I have created a client control panel in my admin control panel and set the following quota for him.

Maximum Domains for the client 75
Total Disk Space for the client 500 MB
Total Traffic for the Client 3500 MB
    maximum web users 75

The client has created 58 domains and is using only 84.1 MB Disk Space and 57.5 MB Traffic. But he is not allowed to add more space to a new domain. He gets an error stating that requested disk space is 10 MB while maximum available is 0 MB.

Can anybody help me with this problem.

As far as I know Plesk doesnt allow overselling, so that if you have 500Mb for a client and he setup 10 domains 50Mb each there will be no space available even if every domain use 0Mb.

DB:2.63:Rhes Quotas And Plesk Not Synchonized... zs

    Hi guys,
I keep getting warnings about a a user that has gone over the limit on file space. When I go into plesk, it shows that the user is over the set hard disk space limit of 100MB. Now, if I go to linux, and check the quota for the user, the amount of disk spaced used reflected, is not the same as reported by Plesk.
Another thing, the actual amount of space used on the hard drive, is not even the same as reflected by the quota system in linux.
I have tried running quotacheck a couple of times, but this doesnt fix the issue. Is there another way to get the quotas to update on all users and at the same time with plesk?
I also tried removing the domain and readding it with no success

Let me give you an example to make this more clear:
    For domain mydomain.com plesk reports:
101mb used / 100MB limit (over the limit, warnings emailed to admin, client, etc)
    Linux quota reports:
67mb used / 100MB limit (not over the limit, ftp still available for user)
Actual disk space reported by du -sh command:
    169MB

    Please advice.

BTW, running Plesk 7.5.1 with RHES 3.

    Thanks

DB:2.63:Clients Can Work Around There Hdd Quota ??? m8

The client must have hard disk quota assignment in there permissions to enable any HDD quota.

Now if this is the case. They can then adjust there quota under there domain setup, and set there quota to anything they like. ( even if there actual account quota is say 20 megs )

    For example

I set up a client account with 100 megs space, and access to hard disk quota assignment.
And the option to add 1 domain name.

I then log in as the client, and setup my new domain.

I then have the option to set my hdd quota ( it has a tick in the box unlimited )

So me being the checky client set it to 200 megs ( even tho my account says im allowed 100 megs )

I then upload a huge file to my ftp account i have just setup

And this allows me to upload the full 200 megs, even tho my quota limit on my actual account is set to 100. ( i understand this is a soft limit )

    My question is

What is stopping the client from setting that limit to whatever they want? Or even leaving the tick in the box so they have unlimited.

I understand that when stats are calculated every day, it will then email me telling me who is over there account limits.

This means i actually have to contact the client and tell them they need to delete stuff ???? shouldnt this be enforced automatically ?

Also, if i go back a few steps and I decide not to give them access to Hard disk quota assignment, they are automatically set to unlimited, thus giving them unlimited hard disk space.

btw, the BASH command to help you figure out whats eating up space is:
    du -P -s -x -b *

This will list the size of all files and folders under the current directory. Start with df to find out what partitions are full, and their actual addresses (in this case I saw /dev/hda6 ... ... ... 99% /usr/local), which tells you which path to start digging at. Switch to that path (cd /usr/local) then use the command above to see which subfolders are eating up the space. Keep digging in those folders until you find the cause of the problems.

I'll be doing aclean install of Windows7 Home Premium soon. The system came with Windows 7 pre-installed.
My question stems form the 100 mb of allocated space on my hdd that shows in the "Where do you want to install Windows" setup screen. (I did a dry run yesterday). On this screen I see the 100 mb System Reserved, and the rest of my hdd allocated space. I
would prefer not to have a100 mb System Reserved. Can or should I delete this 100 mb space and extend the other???
I hope I'm using the proper terminology for this allocated space. I don't consider it a partition because it is actually part of the entire hdd (Disk 0).
I've been reading articles on the internet and have gotten conflicting reports as to what versions of Windows the 100 mb space is used on and whether it will be recreated even if I delete the allocated space.
So again. When I get to the "Where do you want to install Windows" setup screen can I delete this 100 mb space (will I be allowed to?) and extend the larger part???
    Any help will be appreciated,
    James

DB:2.62:Quotas And Traffic Counters Not Working 37

    Rod.

DB:2.62:Quotas And Traffic Counters Not Working 37

    Hello,

Actually, in Parallels Plesk Panel 9 statistics is processed with script DailyMaintainance/script.php that is executed from daily cron job:

    ~# cat /etc/cron.daily/50plesk-daily
    ...
    # install_statistics
    /usr/local/psa/bin/sw-engine-pleskrun /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/DailyMaintainance/script.php /dev/null 21
    ...
    ~#
Purpose of the script is the following:

The script starts utility statistics that processes Apache logs for each domain. The utility counts the inbound and outbound traffic, counts the disk space occupied by Web content, log files, databases, mailboxes, Web applications, mailing list archives, and backup files.
After the statistics utility has finished the script processes resource usage for Plesk domains/clients/resellers. According to resource usage settings limits notifications are sent and objects are suspended.

Therefore, you do not need to run statistics manually, just wait until its daily recalculation by Plesk.

To disable resource overuse notifications go Home Domains domain.name Resource Usage and uncheck the Notify the domain owner about reaching the resource limits checkbox.

    Regards,
    Denis

    Hello !

Im new to plesk and domain management.

Is there a way to make 2 domains point at the same physical space ?
I mean, without just redirecting it to an URL.

    I have a www.domain1.com pointing on the space /home/httpd/vhost/domain1.com

I want to create a wwW.domain2.com pointing on the same space. Not redirecting it to www.domain1.com.
I need to do that because, a few days ago, my domain name (domain1.com) has expired (I was too busy and forgot to renew it in time) and my site is now offline for a few days. I want to have a second domain for the same site, to have a backup way to access my site.

Can you tell me how to do that ?

DB:2.62:Plesk 6.0 And Hard Disk Quotas With Mail sj

OK, I have read and tried various options and nothing seems to be solving my problem, so I am posting here.

    My objective is as follows:

    1. Give user X Total disk space, for mail, web, and logs. NOTE: I have enable this feature in the server - preferences.

    2. User should be able to modify his mail quota to any size up to his full disk space quota.

    3. User should not be allowed to go over quota.

As is, I have set the server - preferences to include everything in the disk usage calculations. I also understand the mail quota and disk space quota are seperate things. In testing I have filled a sites web files up to the max, yet email is still sent and allowed to accumulate for the user, allowing them to go way over quota.

If I set the default quota for mail to the max disk space, with just one mail box the user can double disk space usage, with each additional mailbox the problem compounds. The problem is made worse if you allow the user unlimited limit.

What are my options? Until this is problem is resolved I am forced to leave the user mailbox quotas at 5MB and devote all disk quota to their web files, not the ideal solution I was looking for when I purchased Plesk.

Thanks in advance for your help.

There doesnt appear to be an easy way to create a hosting plan in PBAS that automatically generates an invoice for overusage of disk space, similar to how overusage invoices are created for traffic.

We would like to set our Plesk Domain hosting plans in PBAS such that a customer can buy 100 GB of disk space. If they use more, they can up to a point, but are charged an overusage fee unless they explicitly purchase more disk space in the Upgrade Center.

If someone knows of a simple way to do this, please share. Also, any tips and tricks regarding Disk Space Quota and Hard Disk Space Quota are greatly appreciated as well.

    DB:2.60:Detailed Mail Statistics 31

Prior to Plesk 10 it was possible for domain owners to see detailed mail statistics with disk space used per email account. It was a little cryptic, but it was there. In Plesk 10 all they can see is how much space email on the domain is taking up, not how much each email account is using.

Parallels may have though this was not important but we have a lot of customers asking for this.

On the other hand none of the other bloatware introduced by Plesk 10 is used.

How about adding a migration tool from Plesk 10 back to Plesk 9? That way we might be able to hold on to the customers by offering them a downgrade to Plesk 9.

    DB:2.60:Detailed Mail Statistics 31

I already explained, nobody use all that business logic bloatware. All we need is websites and email.

Never mind. I will migrate the websites by hand. It will take a few hours but at the end of the day be well worth the time spent.

    Hello,

I am currently using Plesk 5.05 and Mailman 2.1.2 - and am planning the upgrade to Plesk 7. I see that the version of Mailman that comes with Plesk 7 is 2.1.1 - is that correct? Meanwhile the latest released version of Mailman is 2.1.5.

I also was told by Rackspace that because I did not install Mailman from RPM initially (I compiled manually) that Plesk will not even recognize the version I have on the box now.

Im seeing this as a blessing in disguise, since it means I can upgrade the lists on my server at my own pace. I.e. by setting up a new install of Mailman from RPM for Plesk, then moving my lists over one by one.

    My questions:

    1) Does this plan make sense to others, have you achieved it successfully, is there a how-to available?

    2) Can we install the 2.1.5 RPM directly, so that we get the advantage of the latest bug fixes and features for Mailman?

    3) Would it make sense to stay outside Plesk altogether and just use Mailman 2.1.5 separately? Or are there benefits beyond the attactiveness of the plesk integration, such as such as making use of Plesk bandwidth and disk space restrictictions?

    Many thanks,

Ok, I am new to Plesk so please go easy on me. I am use to cPanel and Ensim.

    Here is the problem:

    OS: RHEL 3
    Plesk 7.0.1

I create a new client and assign then disk space and bandwidth in the client template.

Then I login as the client and create a hosting template that I set say 50MB for the disk and 1000 MB for the bandwidth.

I go to create a new domain and get this error:

Template is not accepted: the following limitations are exceeded.

    Maximum amount of traffic
    Requested: 1000 MB/Month

    Allowed: 0 MB/Month

So if I take this correct, the client does not have any traffic to assign. So, it gets set to 0 and does not appear to place a real limit on the domain.

DB:2.58:Disallow Overuse Of Resources Without Automatically Suspending Sites? 3d

    Hi,

Is it possible to enforce overuse is not allowed without automatically suspending sites if they reach their limits?

For example... I have enforced overuse to encourage customers to upgrade their packages, something they will never do if I allow overuse of disk space and traffic.

However, instead of calls and emails from customers wanting to upgrade their packages, I am instead receiving calls from angry customers who are unable to access their webmail and delete their old emails (to reduce their disk space usage) because Plesk has suspended their site!

Surely there must be some way round this?!

In Plesk 11.5 I could configure sites to remain active when suspended, but this is hardly ideal. I just want to stop Plesk suspending sites unless I suspend them myself!!

    Many thanks.

DB:2.58:Disallow Overuse Of Resources Without Automatically Suspending Sites? 3d

Well, thats okay if youve got customers who are happy with evenly-sized mailboxes!

Take the example of a client with 1Gb of disk space and ten email accounts. I can set them all to 100mb each, but if you have one user that wants to use a bigger slice of the disk space (which of course they do) then that doesnt work... they just moan that whilst theyve got 1Gb of disk space but theyre only allowed to use 10% of it!

It seems that in Plesk 10 there was a tick box that prevented this situation - called Suspend subscription when its disk space or traffic usage goes beyond the limit.

According to the manual you could untick this box if you do not want Plesk to auto-suspend your sites when the limit is reached.

Is this functionality still available via CLI maybe, even though it seems its been removed from the GUI? or has it been moved somewhere else and I just cant find it?!

    Thanks.

Is there a command line way of removing Plesk backups?

Im looking for the command line equivalent of these steps: Log into Plesk as the server admin Tools Settings Tools Resources Backup Manager check a backup and click Remove.

If its helpful, heres why Im curious... we have a script that copies the contents of /var/lib/psa/dumps/ to Amazon S3 for long-term storage of backups. It runs nightly after a scheduled Plesk backup. Once that script completes successfully, wed like to delete the Plesk backup to free up disk space. We have Plesks Maximum number of backups in the repository set to 1. But Plesk appears to keep that backup around while creating a new backup (which makes some sense). This is causing us trouble because the server does not have enough disk space for two backups. As a temporary solution, Im manually deleting the backup each day through the Plesk admin, but would like to automate it if possible. If automation is overly complex/risky, well look at upping our disk space instead.

I would like to increase the allowed amount of disk space used for email on all the domains and all the clients to lets say:

    100 MB

Doing it one by 1 is a very slow process. I know I could do a SQL update, however I fear there is more involved than just updating the psa database.

    DB:2.57:Mass Change xf

    You are right.

It would be great if Plesk retained the template info tied to the domains after creation.

That would allow you to just update the template and apply the changes to all domains tied to it.

That way it would be very easy to do global changes when offering accounts with different limits (space, mailboxes, etc.).

What do you think about it?

    Anyone from SWsoft listening?

DB:2.57:Disk Space And Processes Shutting Down sd

    Hi,

Suppose my disk space at /x mount point is 100% and at /y is (say) 50%.

If my processes are running at /y, then will they be killed as my disk space is full at /x?

Assume am using /y for running some processes and /x for storing logs.

    Regards,

DB:2.57:Disk Space And Processes Shutting Down sd

If the JBoss log4j doesn't have an option to rotate the log files then you need to think from the OS side log rotating utility (logadm). But its better to rotate and compress the log file so that you can avoid some unneccessary problems related to file system full.

    Hi,

I am running a PLESK box at the moment and within one of the virtual sites there is the following info:

    Disk space limit: 1000.000 MB
    Real disk space: 974.774 MB

As the log file continues to grow and grow is it considered and counted as part of the overall diskspace?

Also what, if any will happen when this maximum is reached?

Thanks in advance for any help...

    DB:2.57:Disk Space Question 1j

Log files are counted... When your client reaches the limit, site will continue to grow, as if nothing has happened. The client will get an e-mail next time your stats run, warning them about going over the limit, thats it.

    Dear Users

I would like to bring to your notice a mojor devastating issue in plesk 9

As you are well are that in Plesk 8.6 there were following levels
    Admin Clients domain
If we allocate 100 MB with 2 setups to a client he was able to allocate IE. 50 MB to 1 and 50 MB to other and after that it showed that resources exhausted .This is typically a case where overselling is not allowed .

Now with a Plesk 9 following changes happened . Apart from existing level a new level of reseller has been added which could create clients accounts as well and had features of overselling .

If we allocate 100 MB with 2 setups to a reseller following cases happened .

CASE1 : Oversellining ALLOWED : The reseller is able to create clients/domains with more than allocated resources .
CASE2 : Overselling is not allowed : The reseller is not able to create clients with more than allocated resources but is STILL ABLE TO CREATE DOMAINS WITH MORE THAN ALLOCATED RESOURCES .

THIS IS RESULTING INTO AN ISSUE WHERE THE PLESK CONTROL PANEL IS FORCING TO ALLOW OVERSELL . IF OVERSELL FEATURE IS OFF THEN EVEN DOMAINS SHOULD NOT GET CREATED WITH MORE RESOURCES THEN ALLOCATED .

CASE3 : In case when overselling is not allowed . If reseller creates a client within his limits then still client is able to oversell the disk space more than purchased value .

URGENT attention required in this regard by plesk before all of us get blown off.

    Michael eddy.

PLESK 8.1 Qmail SPAM, Disk space usage

    Hello
I came to check the server today by logging into ssh.
And found, its screaming at me about space.

There is no way it can be over whats allowed, all clients have limits and I monitor the security of the server very closely. There really is no other way that space could of jumped to 100% capacity.

Heres what the system stats tell me ( from the desktop )...

    Filesystem Total Used Available Capacity
    /dev/md5 4994.50MB 4994.48MB 0.02MB 100%

    Directories /usr/local/psa
    /dev/md7 63271.97MB 10917.71MB 52354.26MB 17.26%

    Directories /var/lib/mysql
    /var/www/vhosts
    /var/qmail/mailnames
    /var/named/run-root
    /dev/md1 988.15 MB 377.00 MB 560.95 MB 38.15%

    none 0.00 MB 0.00 MB 0.00 MB 0%

    devpts 0.00 MB 0.00 MB 0.00 MB 0%

    /dev/md6 4 994.50 MB 0.14 MB 4 994.36 MB 0%

    /proc 0.00 MB 0.00 MB 0.00 MB 0%

From this, just looking at the top, you can see /dev/md5 ( /usr/local/psa ) is FULL......why is this? what can I do to fix this other than randomly deleting files? Are there any tmp files left over from the install?

The server is linux, fedora core current, everything was updated the other day to 8.1.0 current updates. Nothing else has been done, so...I presume that 8.1.0 requires more dispace allocation?

Can someone confirm this, or let me know how MUCH space is required now for 8.1.0 install?

    Also......
    I found this:

I have protexted most of the emails obviously, but it seems like we are being used for spam????

How can I solve this easily? Step by step. Please help, im starting to panic. Perhaps the extra disc space is caused by this?

If I include the following services in the disk space usage calculation:

    Web Space
    MySQL databases
    Microsoft SQL databases
    Mailboxes
    Tomcat applications
    Mailing lists

...and I set a domains hard-disk quota to 4 gb (with each of the above services limited to 100 mb of disk space), when a user exceeds one of the services limit, can plesk send out a notification email alerting us that the particular service in itself will be locked for lack of disk space?

From what I see here, and from what I got from frontline support for plesk, it only sends out notifications if the 4 gb hard-disk quota is exceeded and thats unacceptable for users will have database records dropped and email messages lost without knowing this until the 4 gb limit is reached - Which in this case will never be reached.

Even though their support personel couldnt do better than to beg that Control Panel Server Event manager would help (which does not), I ask: Did Plesk really turn out to be just an unusable software? Hell, it cant get any worse than having orders dropped and email lost without any notification alerts sent - I sure cant let my users consume unlimited disk space ...and theres nothing anyone can do about it.

But, I realise we may be wrong.... so Ill try again asking hands-on analists:

Where are the individual service exceeded limit notifications for the new Plesk 7.5 Reloaded for Microsoft Windows and Linux?
