DB:4.48:"Decimal String To Number" Vi Converting Dbls As Integers am

"Decimal String To Number" is truncating a decimal string as an integer
rather than a DBL: i.e., 4.50 is converted as 4. The "default" input is
wired to a DBL, and the wire color (orange) indicates compatibility
with DBL. The HELP example talks about this indirectly; it shows
    conversion as an integer with the "default" input as an integer;
implication is that conversion should be as DBL with "default" wired as
    DBL.

DB:4.48:"Decimal String To Number" Vi Converting Dbls As Integers am

The name "Decimal String to Number" is misleading. I was fooled by that at first too. The term "decimal string" to me implies that it is a string with a decimal point in it, meaning a floating point number. The name should be changed to "Integer String to Number" or "Numeric String to Integer Number". Also the "Fractional String to Number" is also misleading. A fraction is such as 1/2 or 3/4. It should be named "Numeric String to Floating Point Number" or something like that.

I understand the basics of Decimal to Binary conversion. I could manage a select sql statement for the conversion but this is not supported by IDT (Standard SQl 92) as the statement is Oracle DB specific.

Is there any way we can make below statement DB independent or a combination of functions in IDT which we can use? Even if we can have something at report level for the conversion, it would solve my purpose.

I have just been looking at the ASCII Character set and it shows 'A' = 65 (rather than 61) and it is this conversion that I am really looking for.

I guess the method you have given me does some kind of conversion between hexadecimal representation and alphanumeric representation but what I am looking for I think is a conversion between decimal representation and alphanumeric notation.

Is there another method which provides this?

DB:3.90:Decimal To Floating Point Conversion 9s

    s,

You will have to write your own routines, for everything you need to do.

Start with addition. Then move on to subtraction. Then do multiply, and divide.

You may also need conversion routines, to convert ascii strings into your representation, and back from your representation into ascii (presumming you input and output through a UART, from a terminal, or something like that).

Sounds like a good project for learning how to program arithemtic functions in VHDL.

Understand, there are already "cores" out there to implement floating point arithmetic which meets certain standards (like IEEE). Check for already written cores on the web (if this is not an academic project, but a product you are working on). Always check first what already exists if you are making a product: re-inventing something might be good for the student, but not so good for getting the job done on time, under budget.

I load data from flat file, convert it using Data Conversion Task  to decimal(with scale: 15) and try to save it using OLE DB Destination.

It works fine for 4 digits after the decimal (like 1.1234), but always failes for more   than 4 digits (1.12345).
Is the decimal limited to scale 4  ???

    I have a question
in Ms SQL there is a decimal data type.
I can convert this datatype to binary
so I can write query as
    declare @deci decimal(18,2)
    set @deci = 2.33
    print cast(@deci as varbinary)

The result of this query is --

My question is what is the conversion rule for this conversion from decimal to binary..can anybody explain me?

    DB:3.84:Decimal To Binary Conversion jj

You should be able to convert the binary value back to decimal using a SQL query. If the value is stored in a database table, just include the conversion expression in your query. If you need to pass multiple values from your C# app, you could
pass the list using a table valued parameter instead of individual database calls.
    SELECT CONVERT(decimal(20, 10), @Param);

Just to make sure one thing, you are giving 0 as a default value in FixedValue function or you are putting a different validation for this.

If you are giving 0 as default in FixedValue then can you remove it check what would be the output.

In such I would suggest you try different settings try to pin-point where the issue is.

    Hi
I need to convert a floating point decimal number to bits.
Eg. 0.000532 to be converted to binary(bits).
    How do I do this?

DB:3.79:Floating Point To Binary Conversion z3

Now if I convert that decimal number to bits(in
the usual method of dividing by 2),will that be the
exact binary representation of the floating point
decimal number? You have the same bit pattern in both cases. In one it's held in a double and will be interpreted as a floating point number according to the IEEE 754 representation. In the other it's held in a long and will be interpreted according to the two's complement representation. But it's the same bitpattern.

Note that Long has a toString method which allows you to convert the long to a String. The radix in your case is 2 for binary.

    Hi Team ,

For addressing a requirement - request help for the below points on Display : Decimal places and Conversion : Decimal pl. rounding at CUNI :

    1. As per standard SAP design for the Unit of Measure GAL -gallon, US , Decimal pl. rounding is Zero . If we need to update decimal places rounding as for example 3 , what kind of impact will be there . Does any of the sap programmes have the units /decimals hard coded ? If so how can we get the impact of change of this arrived at ?? creating a new UOM copying GAL would be a suitable solution ?

    2. We understand that the change of the Decimal pl. rounding at conversion and Decimal places at Display should go hand in hand . If we change at decimal pl rounding then we need to get the same done at display also .

    Thanks ,

    MK

DB:3.78:Decimal Places Rounding Changes -Impact 9p

    Hi MK,

You can maintain the decimal places rounding for you unit of measures.

Sap is prepeared to work with all the unit of measures, with or without decimal places.

Check this note for more info related to unit of measures:

    362932 - Conversion with proportion/product units

I don't think SAP is going to be hardcoaded. You could have this issue with your custom program.

I am not sure if I understand your second point. If you are asking if the decimal places and the decimal places for rounding should be the same, it is not necessary. Anyway, as you can see massively in T006, in most of the cases, units with 2 decimal places, has 2 decimal places for rounding, or 3 and 3, etc..

    Kind Regards,

    Mariano

    DB:3.73:Decimal Place Issue 1z

    Hello,

Please refer SAP Note 362932 - Conversion with proportion/product units.

Please consider the two fields for the decimal places: For example the display decimal place is taken into account in the list output; onto the rounding decimal place, for example, it is rounded during the creation of a production order. The rounding decimal place is not, however, considered by every transaction so that particularly in the case of a simultaneous use of metric and non-metric units it is recommended to set the rounding decimal places of these units of measurement to 3 (like the number of the decimal places of the quantity fields). Additional information is available in Note 77525

    Hope this helps

create key figure for conversion factor of type quantity. Add this new key figure to attributes of your specific characteristic.

In key figure properties you can set option "exclusively attribute" if you want to ensure that key figure is only used asa attribute and not as "regular" key figure in InfoProviders.

    Hi to All,

I have some issues regarding Conversion rate of Unit of measure. In transaction MIGO when i am inserting quantity with decimal, the conversion is also in decimal places, but user want it in round off. For an example, if i am receiving 20 kg = 5 ea quantity, then there is not any problem. but if i am entering 20.5 kg = 5 ea then the conversion is in 4.982 ea, its coming in decimal. In this scenario what should i do, that conversion should come in round figure.

    Please help...

DB:3.60:Round Off Quantity In Migo c1

you cannot avoid those decimals, even it does not seem to be logical as you cannot have partial packagings.

the conversion rate in standard is fix per material.

if you need to manage your material in kg and package size, then you would need to create a new material master per package size.

    e.g. a material where a package contains 20 kg

and a second material where the package contains 20.5 kg

Alternative, you can use batch specific units of measure, so you can differentiate per batch record how much kg you have in a package.

I'd like to know what effect a computer's locale might have
on String to Number conversion in AS3. Specifically, in locales
that use a comma as a decimal separator rather than a period, do
the various conversion methods (Number() function, parseNumber(),
Number() class constructor) treat the comma as a decimal separator?
None of the documentation I've read addresses this issue, and all
of the examples use periods as the decimal separator. I suspect
that periods in strings will always be treated as decimal
separators (and that's the behavior I want) but I'd like to know
    for sure.

I am performing a simple conversion of a decimal (9,0) field to a 10 byte integer. The input field is defined as decimal (9,0). The output field is defined as integer 10. In the output field I am doing a to_integer(input_field). In the process, as described above, Informatica performs as expected.A recent enhancement requirement has asked us to change the input field from decimal (9,0) to decimal (10,0) while still performing the same conversion to an integer 10. Informatica fails with a dataover flow/conversion error (TRANSF_1_1_1_1 DBG_21401 Data overflow/conversion error for column Decimal to Integer Conversion). From the tests we've tried (it seems we've tried every conversion possible) it appears that Informatica places an implicit decimal at the end of the decimal field requiring the input field to be smaller than the target output field. We've even enabled decimal arithmetic in the session. Does anyone have any ideas for us to try to allow the decimal (10,0) field to convert to an Integer 10? Thanks in advance for your help.Angie D.Liberty Mutual Group

    Try the following code :

    DATA l_hex TYPE X.

    DATA l_dec TYPE i.

    l_hex = '10'.

    l_dec = l_hex.

    write: l_dec.

you will see a '16' on the screen

You can even go for the following function module :
