    DB:3.87:Translate String To Other Language Querying Google Translator 3d

    Hi,

    The idea is to create a dll file giving to it the source word and retrieving the translation text.

    for example, from english to spanish chair
    http://translate.google.com/#en/es/chair

    then read the translation (silla) and return it back.

    can any1 tell if if there is any sample solution over there for this?

    thanks!

    Hi creeem, you are replying to a post from November 2012, so no one was even thinking about Firefox 20 at that time, much less denying anything.

    This thread was about copying and pasting from Google translation results, but you are referring to Google+. Could you give the URL of the page that is causing problems for you? If it's not Google translation, I suggest actually starting a new question and including your system information.

    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/desktop/websites

    First, though, you might try this general advice: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

    Use Ctrl+Shift+r (Mac: Cmd+Shift+r) to reload the page fresh from the server.

    Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

    orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) Options Advanced

    (Mac: Firefox Preferences Advanced)

    On the Network mini-tab Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

    If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

    (2) Remove your google.com cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:

    right-click and choose View Page Info Security "View Cookies"
    Tools menu Page Info Security "View Cookies"

    In that dialog, you can remove the individual cookies.

    Then try reloading the page and logging in again. Does that help?

    for example I have one customer list which has fields like name, address, city, state, countty etc, so when I select spanish thne I noticcd that fields label are translating but value of these fields are not translating, Is there any something I am missing

    DB:2.97:How To Translate Actual Content From English To Other English 97

    SharePoint will not translate the content afaik. It will only translate the UI elements. If you want to use translations for the content you will need to setup Variations which will create identical pages for you in a different subsite for your language.
    You will still need to translate the content of those pages manually.

    Hi,
    We recently deployed 5 systems with the Hub and are now in Test Translations stage. Our linguists have a lot of input when using the Test Translation page. Among the feedback, I prioritize the below questions becuase the list is rather
    lengthy. Would you please enlighten us for the questions below?
    (a) We did a spot check of the automated translation (from our system) in comparison with Google translate and Bing Translator. In some instances, the output from our system seems wrose than the 2 systems above in quality front. The question here is:
    Doesthe Bing Translator share the same MT engine and corpa with the ones in the Translator Hub? If no, would you please let us know how the Being Translator and the Hub system work differently? (NOTE: I assume the answer is yes, because when we perform
    training we use MS Language Model (i.e. Auto Tuning and Auto Testing).
    (b) Although I think this question may not be relvant, we are interested in knowing how the Hub handles some linguistic expressions and terminologies. Supposedly, we uploaded our corpus to the Hub. The system did analysis from our corpus and prduced a suugested
    BLEU score. Then, we move on to the process. However, when we were doing test translation, we found automated translated instances that some expressions and terminologies are different from the uploaded corpus. Does it mean that the automated translations
    were coming from a larger corpus other than our uploads? Or is there other explanation?
    Thank you in advance for your time in reviewing the questions.
    Regards,
    Ray

    DB:2.96:How Does The Uploaded Tmx Interact The Mt Engine? xk

    Hi WrightT,
    your tuning data and your test data should be an optimal representation of the material you are going to translate.
    You can be a bit more liberal with your training data. I suggest to start with trainign data that is very similar to your future translations, check the results in training, and see if you can get better by adding more data, parallel and target language
    monolingual material, and see if that improves the scores. If it does, continue adding data. If not, back it out. Training is free.
    Hope that helps,

    So the other day I was playing Burnout Paradise online when I got into talking to a French guy who couldn't speak a word of English. So i had my Macbook beside me and was typing what he was saying into an online translator to understand what the heck he was talking about! Then I just suddenly thought, why hasn't Sony introduced a language translator to the PS3 yet? It would be a great new feature to add. When someone sends you a message in another language, all you'd do is highlight the text, choose what language you want and hit translate. I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this before. It's such a simple idea, yet I've only just thought of it.

    Hi all,

    Currently receiving spam from hotmail, gmail, live.com addresses with foreign language bodies. Any way to block these using Ironmail? I have looked and the charsets are unicode (UTF-8). I copied the text and placed them in Google translator and the translator picks up the text as Persian.

    That's a puzzler then. Most of my spam, which I use Spamcop Mail system to filter before it ever reaches my machine, is KOI-8 or even windows-1251, mostly Cyrillic so rules/filters are easy to set up. Being on the consumer side I don't use Ironmail so have no idea how that works but thought I'd lend a hand anyway as it was the weekend. Hopefully someone who does use ironmail will come along soon.

    DB:2.83:Wire Classes Together ... Could Someone, Please, Help Me Out? kd

    Hello,
    I am creating a translator as follows:
    public interface ITranslator {
    String Translate(String text, String fromCulture, String toCulture);
    } // ITranslator
    Basically, this translates a string from one culture to another.
    I have a class which holds groups of translations:
    public class TranslatorProviderBase {
    public ListDictionaryString, String Table { get; private set; }
    public TranslatorProviderBase() {
    Table = new ListDictionaryString, String();
    }
    public void Add(DictionaryString, String translations) {
    Table.Add(translations);
    }
    } // TranslatorProviderBase
    Using this class as base I can place translations in different parts of my application:
    public class TranslatorProvider : TranslatorProviderBase {
    public TranslatorProvider() {
    Add(new DictionaryString, String { { en, Hello }, { pt, Olá }, { fr, Bonjour } });
    Add(new DictionaryString, String { { en, Bye }, { pt, Adeus }, { fr, Adieu } });
    }
    } // TranslationProvider
    I created a class to save the providers and the translator configuration:
    public class TranslatorConfiguration {
    public IListString Cultures { get; private set; }
    public IListTranslatorProviderBase Providers { get; private set; }
    public TranslatorConfiguration() {
    Cultures = new ListString();
    Providers = new ListTranslatorProviderBase();
    }
    public void AddProvider(TranslatorProviderBase provider) {
    Providers.Add(provider);
    }
    public void AddProviderT() where T : TranslatorProviderBase, new() {
    Providers.Add(new T());
    }
    public void SetValidCultures(params String[] cultures) {
    Cultures = cultures.ToList();
    }
    } // TranslatorConfiguration
    I have a class through which I configure the translator:
    public class TranslatorManager {
    public static void Initialize(ActionTranslatorConfiguration configuration) {
    configuration.Invoke(new TranslatorConfiguration());
    } // Initialize
    } // TranslatorManager
    NOTE: This class will have other methods like AssertTranslatorConfigurationIsValid, etc.
    The translator setup and usage would be something like this:
    TranslatorManager.Initialize(x = {
    x.AddProviderTranslatorProvider();
    x.SetValidCultures(en, pt, fr);
    });
    ITranslator translator = new Translator();
    String adeus = translator.Translate(Bye, en, pt);
    PROBLEMS:
    1 - My main problem, at the moment, is how to wire the Translator, implementation of ITranslator, to the TranslatorConfiguration so I can access providers and values in Translator.
    2 - I think I should also allow to register the container in configuration and have some kind of factory to wire things ... But I am not sure how ...
    My Translator, implementation of ITranslator, is the following:
    public class Translator : ITranslator {

    public String Translate(String text, String fromCulture, String toCulture) {

    foreach (TranslatorProviderBase provider in TranslatorConfiguration.Providers) {

    DictionaryString, String row = provider.Table.First(x = x.Any(y = y.Key == fromCulture y.Value == text));
    if (row == null)
    return null;

    String translation;
    if (row.TryGetValue(toCulture, out translation))
    return translation;

    }
    return String.Empty;
    } // Translate

    } // Translate
    See how I am using TranslatorConfiguration.Providers in my foreach loop.
    Of course this does not work unless I make TranslatorConfiguration as static.
    But then I start to have problems on its properties and methods.
    And I am not sure if making it static is the way to go ...
    Could someone, please, help me out making this work and improving it?
    Thank You,
    Miguel

    DB:2.83:Wire Classes Together ... Could Someone, Please, Help Me Out? kd

    There is no need to explicitly initialize static classes by calling a constructor; any
    static constructor will automatically be called by the runtime in advance of any other static or instance methods launching.Premature optimization is the root of all evil. - Knuth

    So, Google Translate won the second test!

    A sub-test of the 2supnd/sup test was that I noticed that Microsoft/Bing Translator successfully retained the character formatting (color, bold, etc.) of the original text, while Google lost that formatting in many cases.

    Is anyone else having this problem with the Systran Translator Widget in Dashboard? It works fine, but it takes around 15 seconds to simply translate the word "hello" from English to any other language. Is it supposed to take that long? Does this work faster for anyone else? I understand that it goes out to the internet to actually do the translation, but it still seems like it takes an awfully long time.

    DB:2.73:Translator Widget Extremely Slow j1

    My translations (when the widget worked) could take up to a minute. I have a 15/2 megabit fiber internet connection, so there's no excuse for this huge delay. Another annoying development, is that the widget now seems to be "broken". Seems to have happened after the airport security update restart. Will have to run disk utility from my other machine to fix it. It ***** too, because the optical drive bezel on my machine was bent "out of the box" for some reason, so i can't put the software discs in.

    I need to retrieve some data from a database using CFQUERY, and then translate that data into another language (so Spanish, Chinese, etc).- The Google Translator will be sufficient for now since the data is simple instructions - not a long article.

    The Javascript function that Google provides causes a dropdown menu to appear when the page is loaded. I want the translation to take place automatically, having selected the language on a previous page.

    #googtrans can be put in the URL to translate the whole page. However I only want to translate the database content - not the entire page. So, for example, part of the page would be in English and the other part (from the database) in Spanish / Chinese.

    I found a good article on this on a blog some five years old. However it is evident that Google have changed their API since then, and so the blog code no longer works.

    Can anyone cast any light on this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Is there such a thing as a language translator that works inside AutoCAD? We create our text objects in English and want to translate all to Mandarin.

    DB:2.70:Re: Language Translator f9

    Agreed, in its present form it's only quite cool.

    If you developed it with more content in Chinese kept the price modest, say $50-100 I can see people wanting it for convenience with little jobs, rather than 1000,s of dwg’s.

    Then add other languages to it, also at $50-100 per language. (Japanese, Indian and Spanish are all likely to be very useful for one reason or another)

    you wouldn’t retire, but you should make enough to go on holiday once or twice a year.

    If you set the code up to reference the AutoCAD version as it runs, you even get to resell it for every AutoCAD release, every year. All for the time it takes to run a find replace on the AutoCAD version number in your code.

    I would guess it will make you enough cash to make the gamble worthwhile, at worst you will be losing a few evenings weekends in the attempt. If I had the skill set to run with it, Iwould.

    Check out Youtube, they actually have things close to it, just not by Microsoft. I'm just looking for a standards platform to be formed. It would be nice for it to come from Microsoft instead of Apple. And real-time translators would be no different than
    being multiligual and standing at a supermarket checkout line. No ones talking about spying on others, just understanding everything around us. I had trouble find the suggestion box so I added my question hear so it would at least get out there.
    Thanks

    I think you're kind of right about the 'public' speech thing. It's not like you want to listen in on obviously 'private' conversations, but rather understand what is being spoken in a public space.
    The problem with many of these real time translator concepts is that a computer has difficulties with both context and idioms, which are very common in normal speech. It will take a while before we can truly replace human interpreters who, even with their
    understanding of cultures, context, etc. need to 'delay' translation by a few seconds.

    Dear Microsoft Translations team,

    I have a few suggestions to improve the Bing Translator, so far it's a great service and I want to thank the people behind for its feautures and usefulness, but I find myself going back to Google Translate for 1 reason, romanizations/translitterations, and
    I also have some other few suggestions to help improve the service.

    * - Romanization for the Bing Translator. For exmaple I can get Chinese characters in the translation, China = Zhong-Guo/-Hua, but I don't find the Pinyin for it.

    * - Bing Dictionary integration, or links to the Bing Dictionary.

    * - the ability to search for better translations, for example ''work (noun)'' and ''work (verb)'' to help for better tranlations.

    These are all I have at present, I hope you'll find these useful.

    DB:2.62:Feature Suggestions For The Bing Translator mx

    The Bing Translator absolutely needs the Pinyin pronunciation for Chinese added. Google Translate has it. It is immensely useful, especially for those of us who cannot read Chinese characters.

    My web page is www.sgrid.com which was designed in PHP Nuke. We recently added the "Google Translator" tool to the page - you can find it near the top right of the page.
    With all other browsers I have tested, the entire page has the text changed to whatever language is selected. However, with Internet Explorer, the various "news articles" in the center of the page are frozen in English.
    If you try the page in Firefox, then IE, it will be very obvious what is going wrong.
    My web designer doesn't know if this is a problem form Internet Explorer, PHP Nuke, or the Google Language Translator. Since the translator seems to work for most other parts of the page, and since all the other browsers I've tried have no problem translating
    all the text, I'm guessing there is something special we need to do to get the page to work with IE.
    I have just upgraded to IE9, to see if that helped - it did not.
    Any advice or suggestions?

    I looked through your other forums on this, but the issue we are having is different. We have very dynamic content on our website and visitors from all over the world, so this widget is just what we need. However, once the code was added (for 'auto' and
    non-display of the translator box) the widget would only sometimes work. We followed the instructions on other forums and double checked that the code was embedded on every page of the site in the chrome. Our URL is www.START.ac. For our latest code push,
    we had to switch back to Google translator, but would like to figure out the solution so we can start to use your service. Our site runs on drupal, and we looked up solutions that are drupal specific and did not see a difference. We also double checked if
    it made a difference between the translator widget displaying or not displaying, but got the same results. (Please see messages from the engineers below) Please help us as soon as possible! Thank you!!

    I tried the ‘auto’ feature but it doesn’t work consistently. It identifies
    the browser language and shows in the widget.

    In the translator box you can see ‘spanish’ selected as this was my browser
    langauge. But it doesn’t translates the site automatically everytime unless
    I click it from the widget.

    I have already tried both display and non-display code but it didn’t worked.

    http://www.microsoft.com/web/solutions/code-embed.aspx#drupalThis link is
    for adding any code snippet to drupal pages and is not specific toMSFT
    translate.

    First, I thought it might be a browser issue then I switched to Windows and
    tried it on ‘Internet Explorer’ as well but there also ‘Auto’ feature
    didn’t worked.

    DB:2.57:Is Microsoft Translator Designed To Translate Whole Web Pages? pm

    Hi there
    My app needs to grab, translate and save web pages at different times of the day so that they can be read in English during working hours.
    I've written a simple Translator App using the SOAP API that takes a URL, streams the page into a string and passes it to the SOAP API.
    It works perfectly for very simple web pages. For larger pages (20-100K) it fails every time with 'Bad Request', even though the same pages translate successfully using Translator manually via IE. Most of the pages I need to process are in the 50-200K size
    range.
    For example, the app works with this simple URL:http://www.lecanardenchaine.fr/trvlap.html
    But fails with every other one I try (eg:http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Camus)
    Neither of the above pages pass W3C validator test, but both render correctly in all browsers, and in other HTML pre-processors.
    Am I wrong to assume that Translator can be used for such tasks or am I missing something?
    I've written the same programme using the HTTP API and get the same behaviour - the 'Bad Request' is accompanied by a WebException status of 'ProtocolError' (7).

    The code I'm using is very simple:
    WebClient wb = new WebClient();
    string sourceText = wb.DownloadString(url);
    string translationResult = client.Translate(, sourceText, fr, en, text/html, general);

    where client is an instance ofTranslatorService.
    any help much appreciated - I need to decide whether I can continue using Translator.

    best wishes

    Rob Macdonald

    DB:2.57:Is Microsoft Translator Designed To Translate Whole Web Pages? pm

    A different way to approach this would be to use the HTML Agility pack.
    http://htmlagilitypack.codeplex.com/
    This allows you to pull down the whole document, and treat it like it is well formed. You can then use XPath syntax to derive the text nodes and translate them. I'm working on a command-linetool that will allow users to do this.
    The code will look like:
    private void processDocument(HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlDocument html)
    {
    HtmlNodeCollection coll = html.DocumentNode.SelectNodes(//text()[normalize-space(.) != '']);
    foreach (HtmlNode node in coll)
    {
    if (node.InnerText == node.InnerHtml)
    {
    node.InnerHtml = translateText(node.InnerText);
    }
    }

    }
    And the translateText function uses the Microsoft Translator API to translate the text. I have to set it to the .innerHTML because .innerText is read-only.

    This makes it easy to translate even huge pages...I've tested it with a 500Kb page and it has worked nicely.

    The Microsoft Translator Hub (hub.microsofttranslator.com) is a feature of Microsoft Translator, and serves two major purposes:
    (1) Add a new language to Microsoft Translator
    (2) Improve the quality of automatic translations by optimizing Microsoft Translator for a specific style and terminology.
    If these are not your goal, and you just want to translate text, please visit
    www.microsofttranslator.com,
    or go directly to the specific areas of Microsoft Translator that can help you along:
    Translate text
    Allow visitors to translate your web site
    Develop an application that uses Microsoft Translator service
    In the following, we explain what is necessary to use Microsoft Translator Hub, for adding a new language, or for improving the quality of translations in a specific area of style and terminology.
    Add a New Language
    You can teach Microsoft Translator to translate from or to a language that it doesn’t know about today. In order to do this, having at least two of these three things available is a great start:

    Parallel documents: Documents that exist in the two languages you want to translate between. An amount of 10,000 sentences is the technical minimum, but we recommend having more than 100,000 sentences.
    These documents should have fluent language examples of the type of text you want to be able to translate. Dictionaries are OK, but examples in sentence-form are better. Literal translations are better training material
    than free translations that exploit a substantial poetic license. A group of fluent speakers of that language, who also have working knowledge of the other language, and are interested in working with you on this. This is your language community. Microsoft Translator Hub has built-in tools for engaging your community,
    and collecting feedback and corrections from the community.Large amounts of documents in the target language: documents in the language you want to translate to, showing the style and terminology you care about.
    Best is if you have all three. More of each is always better than less – there is no upper limit. Good quality is always better than bad quality – there is also no limit.

    Improve the Quality of Automatic Translations
    Microsoft Translator, as it comes, translates average content with decent quality, in the languages it supports. If the quality satisfies your use, there is nothing to do: you can just keep using Microsoft Translator as is.
    The nature of automatic translation systems is such that the quality can improve drastically if a degree of specialization is added to it. You can improve the quality of Microsoft Translator translations by showing the
    Microsoft Translator Hub parallel and target language documents of the style you care about, using the terminology you want to see translated well. You upload existing translated material to the Hub, and you may add additional text
    in the target language, where both are examples of the style of the documents you want to translate in the future. 10,000 sentences of parallel material is a good start. There is no upper limit. The Hub gives you the option to create
    specialization in many different categories. If you have a lot of documents on a variety of subjects, you are encouraged to follow the same categorization that Microsoft Translator Hub offers: the results will be better if the
    specialization is performed on a single category. Examples of categories are Agriculture, Financials, Transportation, or Law. You may want to further specialize into the type of language being used, formal vs. colloquial, or instructional vs. conversational.

    The Hub offers you simple methods of judging the quality of the translations: automatic scoring, as well as the option to consult project team members for their opinions and corrections. You may use these corrections in subsequent re-training of the translation
    engine. Achieving significant quality gains is not simple, and requires you to play with the uploaded documents quite a bit, improving the quality of the documents over time, applying additional filtering and selection.

    If you, after reading this, have doubts whether Microsoft Translator Hub can help, or if Microsoft Translator alone will be sufficient for your needs, feel free to request an invite and attach an explanation of your usage scenario, and the documents or community
    you have, and we'll be able to guide you.

    source files to the translator. The translator, who used Composer
    to translate the files, did not translate the index or the table of
    contents, assuming that the index and table of contents would
    automatically update -- that did not happen when I overwrote my
    help project files with the translated files. The topic contents
    are now in Italian, the topic titles are in Italian; however the
    TOC and index are not. My question: Is there an efficient way to
    translate the the TOC and index that is NOT done manually. Is there
    a RoboHelp file that can be edited to translate the hhk and hhc
    into Italian. I am using RoboHelp 7. The translator is using a
    trial copy of RoboHelp 8. The language barrier is significant. My
    translation project is due 03/09/2009.

    DB:2.57:Topics Translated But Index And Toc Not Translated ad

    I've already dropped the translated topics into the help
    project and have not had any problems. Here was my method: In
    Explorer view, I overwrote the project's English folders/files with
    the translated folders/files. I opened the project and all topics
    displayed properly. The TOC and index were there (not blank) but
    displayed in English and not Italian. I've already sent the
    translator instructions for opening these files in a text editor
    and translating based on your original reply. I have not heard back
    from the translator - there's a 5-hour time difference. I'll let
    you know how this plays out . . .

    Thanks again Ben for your valuable feedback.

    I have tried the same thing from my code using the proxy class provided from the dashboard, and here it also fails. The error is a bit more descriptive here: 'From has an invalid pattern of characters'.

    I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, because it works for every other language code supported by the API.
    I have tried it for other words/sentences and it always fails in Maltese only.
    Any ideas on why it fails specifically for Maltese?

    It is strange that when we use the widget and put it on a localized webpage, it works fine for example if a Spanish viewer is wanting to translate a page from English into Espanol.   But should we have same page in Spanish, and an English viewer wants to try to see Spanish translated into English, it is not in the Pulldown list.  Can you check this oversight?  It is making the translator widget unusable compared to the Google Widget (Any Language) pulldown of language pairs - English being of primary concern and we notice that Spanish is not included in pulldown either.  But every other language is available...  So we have to hardcode the from path to ES... when we call up the widget.Thanks.

    DB:2.53:English Is Not Selected In Pulldown 7d

    Hi mboolean,Just so I am sure that I understand the scenario - you want to place the widget on a spanish site, and if the english viewer goes to the site they do not see an option to translate english. Is that right?Are you sure that the correct source language was specified in the widget snippet? The way to tell the widget the source language of the page is by including a from=en (or whatever the language is) in the widget snippet. So, if the snippet should contain from=es .Let me know if that does not work. Vikram Dendi,

    Hi, We use ASP.NET 3.5 and support a few languages. We wanted to look at the Translator Widget in order to add support for several other languages that we don't have yet. The catch is: the widget appears to be hard-cwired to a particular source language!? The default language of our page is en-US, but a user can change the ASP.NET culture at any time to one of several languages, and then my Translator Widget remains English = XYZ, even though the source languag What is required: if my page is already set to Culture de-DE (German), and I want to translate it to Italian..., the Translator Widget needs to leverage the Microsoft ASP.NET localization settings and set the source language to German, so the user has a chance to translate to Italian... OR, the widget should at least bring up a message that the source language is English only. Currently, it tries to interpret German as English :-) and translates THAT to Italian. The result is a real mess. If it can't handle it automatically, is there a javascript interface to the Widget where I could set the source language? Any tips? Thanks! Richard

    DB:2.53:Widget Doesnt Understand .Net Cultures...? df

    Thanks Sandor, This is indeed a solution. Using the following works for me: %= System.Globalization.CultureInfo.CurrentUICulture.TwoLetterISOLanguageName % I was using a javascript hack in the meantime to patch the query string ... It would certainly help ASP.NET users to have this option presented to them on the snippet generation page. Ciao, R

    DB:2.53:Language Translator Widget In Wda 77

    Can we add (google or bings )Language Translator widget in WDA?

    This will enable different language translations for the WDA applications.

    For example, the Microsoft

    For a regular html page, if I add the following code the translation bar appears.

    div id="MicrosoftTranslatorWidget" style="width: 200px; min-height: 20px; border-color: #3A5770; background-color: #78ADD0;"noscripta href="http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?a=http%3a%2f%2fn1devep.****.local%3a50100%2firj%2f"Translate this page/abr /Powered by a href="http://www.bing.com/translator"Microsoft Translator/a/noscript/div script type="text/javascript" /* ![CDATA[ */ setTimeout(function() { var s = document.createElement("script"); s.type = "text/javascript"; s.charset = "UTF-8"; s.src = ((location location.href location.href.indexOf('https') == 0) ?     The entire portal is translated except webdynpro as it is within iframe in the portal.

    So, the only option is to somehow add the above code within the WDA.

    Please let me know if there is any other way we can achieve this.
