DB:3.28:Looking For An Activesync Connection xk

    (1) I have installed activesync 4.5 on a a pc running xp
    (2) I have a netbook running windows ce 6.0
    (3) I have a usb to usb cable - connecting both pc(s)
    (4) I attempted to follow the directions for installing activesync
    (5) After the installation I received the following message "Your device was not detected"
    Any suggestions?

DB:3.28:Looking For An Activesync Connection xk

Hello. I think it may be hit or miss if Activesync is included in the OS ROM for these netbooks. They are pretty much PDAs and I think they are running embedded CE 6.0, which should be supported. So, first go to your Programs menu and see if Activesync
is listed there. If it is, it may be a matter of getting the correct device driver. With the netbook connected, run Windows Update on the PC to see if you are offered any drivers for the netbook. If you don't have Activesync on the netbook, you can't just
add it, because it should be part of the OS ROM.

    Hi, all!

I have some issues when installing new software on my PPC. The thing is ActiveSync doesn't work with Win Vista, but many installation programs rquire ActiveSync to run. (when I'm running setup.exe I get an error message "ActiveSync not found")

How should I install this software from Windows Vista to my Windows Mobile device?

    DB:3.00:Software Installation Issues cc

    You're welcome.

Sync Center is included by default. WMDC 6.1 was released to fix errors in the previous version.

We installed SP3 for Exchange 2010 last night as well as RU 4.
Since the install I am seeing the following error in the event logs on our CAS boxes, before SP3 our plant locations used for example newowa2010.la-z-boy.com as their ActiveSync server as well as how they access OWA at their locations. Now they are unable
to access email on their phones with it set that way I had to change it to our external OWA link in order for it to work. VERY ODD! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

DB:2.82:Wm6.0 Upgrade Will Not Install On Att Treo 750 x9

I was happy to find the upgrade from WM5.0 to WM6.0 for my ATT Treo 750on the Palm support Website today. I downloaded the upgrade folder, unzipped the executable file, and prepared to install the upgrade. I shut down all programs on my Treo, except for
ActiveSync 4.5, connected to ActiveSync, and performed a successful synchronization. I have performed several synchronizations with this version of ActiveSync, so there are no issues with it.

When I started the WM6 upgrade installation, it ran for about 4-5 seconds, then shut down. It responded with an error message, titled Device Connection Failed. It went on to read, "The USB connection was not successful. If your device is connected, please
reconnect it and clickTry Again." I reconnected and tried again several times, but with no success.

The upgrade is only available for one-time downloadby entering a serial number, so unless Palm has made a mistake, I'm sure I have the correct upgrade file. My OS is Win2003SBS, I am the administrator, and I'm trying to install the WM6.0 upgrade to the
Treo from a file onthe server, at the serverterminal. The Treo is currently running WM5.0, OS 5.1.195.

Has anyone else experienced this installationissue on the ATT Treo 750 yet? If so, please let me know if you resolved it, and how. No one at Palm, ATT or Microsoft seems to be interested in helping.

I had the same problem. Download the update to your SD card which is place in a card reader.
    Go here for download instructions:

    http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/treo750update/att_sd.html

    1
Connect a miniSD card reader to your computer and insert a miniSD card into the reader.

    2
Format the miniSD card in FAT32 file system
(For information on how to format a miniSD card

    3

    4

In the WinZip file window select "Extract"

    5

Scroll the file folder menu to the top of the list to select 'Desktop' and select the 'Extract'

    6

Navigate to the Treo750_2_25_ATT_EN_SDUpdater folder on your desktop and double click to open the folder.

    7

Press CTRL + A on your keyboard to highlight
the contents of the folder ('2577' folder,
    'CHEEIMG.md5', and 'CHEEIMG.nbh') ,

then right click the mouse and select 'Copy'.

    8

On your desktop select 'My Computer' and double click the drive that is associated to your SD card reader.

    9

With the cursor in the SD card drive window,
right click the mouse and select 'Paste'.

    This will paste the Treo750_2_25_ATT_EN_SDUpdater
build files on your miniSD card.

    10
Ensure that your Treo 750 device is plugged into an AC power source.

    11
Turn ON the device. Unlock keyguard and disable any passwords.

    12
Remove the miniSD card from the card reader, open the miniSD expansion card door on the right side of the 750 device and insert the miniSD card into the expansion card slot.

    13
Wait for the device to recognize the card. The updater initialization will start automatically and will populate the End User License Agreement.

(Note: it can take up to 20 seconds for the EULA to populate – if the EULA does not appear please remove the card and re-insert it into the slot).

    14
Tap on "Accept" to accept the EULA. Tap 'OK' on the dialog, "Important! Please do not move or use your device while the update is in progress. You cannot use your phone during the update."

    15
Tap OK on the dialog, "If your device is connected to the USB port, please disconnect it now."

    16
"Checking files" dialog will appear with a rotating 4-color wheel. This process will take about 1-2 minutes to complete.

    I am receiving numerous errors in attempts for Win Live Acct;
for they all fluctuate and basically informs me that I am not on
Win Vista - I have the rapi in the editor which resolveda lot of
issues which I found in the forum; but it will not recognize my
Windows Live Account, Email, or even BING.

    :(

What is so insinuating is the lack of ability to be able to use the
    Windows Update - Since I am with Microsoft, Windows, and MSDN;
I have pretty much resolved a lot of issues (from the main desktop)
but however there are no BETA's on the notebook - but errors still
remains the same ... I am not on VISTA.

I have all files and was able to update some manually, but it's
absurd that one isn't able to use the functionality because of
    being on Win 7 ...

Is there a FIX for this? YET???

    ------------------------------------------------

For those who are reading this post I have found some
work arounds for those on the higher end of Windows 7
(Premium and up) with the Activesync REGARDLESS OF
WHAT SYSTEM YOU ARE USING - for I have other people
who have Win 7 Smart Phones and iPhone and iPAQ:

    WORKAROUND:

Moving and deleting files, while it is time consuming; even
if you followed the rapimgr on another thread - it does help
but there is still an issue.

    Installation:

    1) Install to your computer to your APPDATA - Local - Temp:
take all files and copy them to your Document file folder after
you have named it exactly as the program is named. Paste it
    all in there.

    2) Do this only if the installation fails and it gives you errors or
tells you that you are not on VISTA.

    3) Copy this file folder in your named PC/Smart Phone folder (the
yellow folder) - and paste it to where you know it belongs to; example:
Program Files - if you have multiple storages. Now everything will be
in there and it is a good idea to make sure all files are in there by checking.
NOW click on the *.exe file there - nearly 98% of the time it will install

    a) If this does not - check to make sure all the cabinet files are in there
for it will not install if the cabinet files are not in there

    b) If all files are in there - did you make sure that this program IS compatible
with the system you are using? NOTE - "One size does not fit all".

    c) If you receive a WARNING - that this is not a trusted installer or is not compatible
with your PC/iPAQ/Smart Phone - then delete it.

{Some Apps site are not always accurate and even though your info may be on the
    list, does not necessarily mean it will work}

    ===================================

TO DELETE and GET RID of FILES / APPS -

There is a workaround that I found that works very fast without the Activesync,
but with all the irony - you will need the Activesync.

    1) Open Activesync

    2) Ignore any errors there that may come up

    3) Open your system - while it will relect as being synchronization while the
computer says otherwise (PC/iPAD/Smart Phone/iPhone, etc), and unlock it
    if necessary.

    4) On your main computer - go to your Icon where you will see displayed, by
going to the C drive - and on the right - you will see your Mobile Device, click
on that - and it will display all your memory, clicking on these will show you
what is in your mobile device and at the same time in your mobile device, keep
    it in sync.

    a) To remove the program - first find the PROGRAM FILE - either right click and
delete or take your mouse and drag it to the garbage can (or if you do not have
it saved) move it to your device's documents so you'll have it saved for later.

    b) NOW you can use the device to "REMOVE PROGRAM"

    --------------------------------------------------

This same way goes with Photos, Music, etc ....

    ==================================

I hope this workaround helps, for it's been working for many including
myself - but while some are able to use the Windows Live and Updates,
however - I am stuck here.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    IMPORTANT!!! IMPORTANT!!!!

Make sure that your Activesync is ENABLED in your Windows Firewall and if you
have any Antivirus, Security, etc - Programs on your main Computer - make sure
it is ENABLED! (Otherwise it won't work.)

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    :-/

Is there any other options? I've exhausted everything I could possibility think of
before I even headed to this forum. Thanks!

    :)

why would you use cas.comoanyname.com for the activesync configuration or do you have owa.companyname.com ? To configure the active you will need the OWA address and rest autodiscover will do the job.
more you can test the setting here if they are setup correct

DB:2.72:Activesync For Exchange 1.3.1 Calendar Sync Issues ad

    Hi,

We are currently having a few issues with using the latest version of Activesync for Exchange (1.3.1) whereby some accounts will have problems getting their Calendars to synchronise properly. The problem is getting a server error and then stopping the sync from happening (for Emails and contacts).

If you take out the Calendar synchronisation from happening, then the phone will go through as normal. This has happened to about 3-4 accounts out of 40 users that we have set up with the Nokia E61 (APAC). I have also tried to use Roadsync and it has a similar issue.

On my account where it also happened, I deleted all my calendar entries and re-did all the reoccurring appointments. This seems to work afterwards.

Has anyone else had the same issue? The phones we use are the Nokia E61, E60 and N80.

    Thanks,

    Ben

Thanks very much - appreciated. In a flash of inspiration I actually guessed the location on the Nokia site by changing the download URL for '...1.5.0' to '...1.3.1' and the old files are still there, just not indexed.

Very frustrating of Nokia to remove support for handsets like the N73, which in reality work well with MailForExchange.

Would it be possible to sync with the different versions? Or would I need to have either WINDOW MOBILE OR ACTIVESYNC on BOTH computers?

Please inform me how I can prevent the relationship from re-newing with my phone (samsung omnia) on every single sync on my WORK PC.

    DB:2.72:Syncing Samsung Omnia On 2 Separate Computers - 1 Vista 6.1 Using Windows Mobile 6.1----- 2 Window Xp Using Activesync 4. k8

    Hi TAZEEBOO,
When you re-establish a "partnership" between your device and ActiveSync, it will refuse to allow you to use the same device name because it feels that this new relationship is with a different device and it is needlessly protecting the assets of the
    old device.
    The solution is to manually purge all references to the old device that exist on the PC, so start by;

Deleting the desktop folder shortcut that Active sync created for the original partnership.
Move or remove the folder that the shortcut pointed to.
Assure that your PC's file explorer is set to view "hidden files". To show hidden files and folders follow the steps below:
    1. Click on my computer.
    2. Click on organize.
    3. Click on the folder and search options.
    4. Please click on the view tab.
    5. Select the radio button which reads as “show hidden files and folders”.
Search for the "device name" and remove the backup folder that bears that name.

to the incorrect time on my outlook calendar. I cannot get them to match up and display the same time. This is very frustrating and I may have to stop using Outlook if I can't get it to work - which I certainly don't want it to do. But I can't have my
appointments showing incorrect times! Please help.

DB:2.70:Http(S) Connection Timeouts For Activesync Directpush Autd Heartbeats 8p

I am getting errors from Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync due to HTTP(S) Connection Timeouts on HTTP(S) heartbeats. The minimum timeout is 15 minutes but recommended timeout is 30 minutes. Where do I change the minimum connection timeouts on a PIX running 6.3(5) PDM 3.0(4)? It seems that the TIMEOUT CONN command would cover this.

    My current settings are below.

    timeout conn 1:00:00 half-closed 0:10:00 udp 0:02:00 rpc 0:10:00 h225 1:00:00

    Microsoft support article ID: 905013

DB:2.70:Http(S) Connection Timeouts For Activesync Directpush Autd Heartbeats 8p

"timeout conn HH:MM:SS" would change the timeout for conn. But as you can see from your post it is already 1 hour which is the default. That is more then enough then the 30min recommended.

    Thanks,

DB:2.70:How Do I Upgrade The Os On My Smartphone? kk

    Greetings,
I got a Qtek 8010 SmartPhone running on Windows CE 4 and would like to update the OS to CE 5 to be able to develop Windows Mobile 5.0 apps. The problem is that I'm really new to smart device development and haven't got a clue as to how to upgrade the OS. How is it done? Do I run the installation on my desktop PC and it upgrades the phone through ActiveSync or do I copy an entire image to the phone and run it from there?
Are there any other issues I should be aware of concerning the upgade of a SmartPhone OS?
    Thanks!

P.S. OS upgrades are only available from phone manufacturer or carrier. If one is available for your phone (and I know of no SP 2003 to WM 5.0 upgrades) simply download it and follow instructions.

I read the thread and did the standard web searchesand went though as many suggestions as I could find that worked for other users.I believe it is an issue with Outlook - the reason why is I can sync the Mobile favorites and files but when I try tosync
Email, Contacts or Calendar it fails almost immediately. These are the troubleshooting steps thatI tried.
    1) Deleting the partnership on the phone and computer - did this multiple times at differnt points of the troubleshooting process with no success - I think after each one of the steps below.
    2) Ran the Microsoft Office Diagnositcs Program - found no issues in any of the 5 scan areas.
    3) Uninstalled WMDC 6.1 and then reinstalled - I made sure the partnership on the phone (Activesync) was deleted before I tried to setup the new partnership again.
    4) Ran the scanpst.exe (MSFT Office Outlook Repair Tool) - it found an issue in one of the 8 phases that itwent through. It could not fix the issue with the repair tool - it failed??
    5) Did a Hard Reset on my Phone (tried many soft resets with step #1 above) This is pretty painful I lost many of the downloaded apps and i still cannot sync
    6) Unistalled Outlook and then reimported the same pst file and encountered the same error.
As I said above this has worked for almost two years and it just stopped working. Any suggestions would be helpful - you never realize how much I use the calendar, contacts and email until they are gone (hard phone reset). I am willing to try any other
    suggestions except for reinstalling Windows.

Did you try a new mail profile on the PC? By the way, it's usually not a good idea to import a PST. You always lose data by importing.

I have 6 Z10's, 4 IPhones and 1 Android on my network using Activesync for email to an Exchange 2010 server(Version 14.2). The 6 Z10's are having trouble forwarding and replying to some emails. They will show in draft after sending or the red circle with a white line in the middle. I started testing sending emails with attachments and I can’t seem to send an email with an attachment larger than 256KB. I setup a Google Apps account using Activesync on my BB10 phone and it sends larger attachments perfectly. When an IPhone or Android phone sends large attachment emails using the same server they will send fine.I am pretty stumped on this one right now. Does anyone have any insight?

I found the solution to my problem...which was partially because of inherited permissions but ALSO because I'd tried to connect without the inherited permissions before and it seemed no matter what I couldn't get my account to sync. I enabled inherited permissions
    and on and on.

What I had to do was in Exchange 2010 Managment, browse to Recipient Configuration Mailbox User Properties Mailbox Features. Highlight Exchange ActiveSync and click Disable, then apply. This next part seems to be important. Try and connect
your activesync while it is DISABLED on your account. After it fails, then re-enable activesync and try again.
2/3 users I was having trouble with were fixed by this process. The other I've not had a chance to test with yet. Of course, you must ensure that the permissions are inherited as explained in countless other locations.

    Problem Description

I have been using ActiveSync 4.5 for several months to synchronize by Treo 700w with my Windows XP laptop using Bluetooth. However, today when I tried to sync my phone with my laptop, I encountered the following problem:

    1) When I launch the ActiveSync application on my phone, I see a screen with a message that I've never seen before:

"To sync with a desktop computer, install ActiveSync on your computer and then connect this device.

If your company support syncing directly with its Exchange Server you can setup your device to sync with it.

    2) When I select "Menu-Connect via bluetooth" on my Treo 700w, the connection to my PC is established successfully. However, I get an error dialog on my PC saying:

"Sychronization cannot be completed successfully. Reconnect your device and try again. If the problem persists, see the Microsoft ActiveSync Troubleshooter in Microsoft ActiveSync Help on your desktop computer."

    3) When I run the Troubleshooter, I get the following response:

"Norton Personal Firewall has been detected. Firewall settings can prevent Windows Mobile powered devices from connecting. Get up-to-date solutions to common firewall problems and step by step instructions for correcting them. Please click the following link:

    DB:2.69:Activesync Crashing, Wont Uninstallreinstall c8

A while ago my activesync 4.5 running on XP SP2, which had previously been working fine for about a year with my dopod windows mobile 6 device, began crashing every time the device was connected, whether by usb cable or by infra-red. In fact it also crashed
if I tried to open it via the system tray icon even when the phone was not connected.
So, I tried to reinstall activesync, per the following measures:
    (a) if trying to install from installation file (activesync4.5.setup.msi), process stops immediately with error message:
"Setup not complete / The wizard was interrupted before MS ActiveSync 4.5 could be completely installed."
    (b) tried to uninstall by
(b.1) using unstall via add/remove programs. Runs for a second, then Error: "Fatal error during installation."
(b.2) deleting registry entries per activesync 3.x noted elsewhere, and removing program files folder.
    I have also variously tried:
    * "repairing" outlook 2007;
    * removing two programs which I suspected may have caused the initial problem, and certainly have features to sync with removable devices, ie. I-Tunes and Media Monkey.
    * Running Fixmapi from the command prompt
So far no luck. Any other suggestions? Sorry if this is covered in a FAQ, if so please point me to it. I see there are many people asking about trouble removing and/or reinstalling activesync 4.5, but so far I haven't found any definitive how-to steps.

Kind thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.

Thanks, those two commands work fine and I can now run the AS installer while in safe mode. Sadly it still stops almost immediately with the error:

I have a Toshiba Pocket PC e310 runnin MS Pocket PC v. 3.0.1117`1 (Build 11178)-- the battery died, and I had to reinitialize it after recharging.

I already had ActiveSync 4.x on my PC (Windows XP SP2) -- and am using a version that allows Oracle Calendar as the source for syncing. (Or, perhaps, they had to run some software from Oracle Calendar after the installation of ActiveSync on the PC.)

When I reconnected the PDA to the PC, set up a new connection -- it appears to connect properly -- but nothing syncs up. I think that someone had to download something to run on the Pocket PC itself -- some sort of update for ActiveSync -- but I can't find
anything on the Microsoft site other than the ActiveSync software itself. It took a month or more the previous time to get escalation and response from someone from 2nd-level support to figure this out the first time -- so I don't really want to play that
game again. I'd like to be able to do it myself.

Does anyone have any idea what I have to do?

DB:2.68:Activesync Doesnt Work After Reinitializing Pocket Pc 37

I sync with Lotus after Activesync, and whenever there are problems, it is always the Com-ports that mess up.

Try to delete existing links (on the pc) and pair the units again. Enable the suggested COM port. Search for a unit from Activesync never works, but I click that option and then cancel to get back, and then it often works!.

My cable went bad, so I set up a bluetooth connection with Activesync from the PPC. I then search for a connection from the PPC. I often have to delete this BT activesync connection and create a new one in BT Manager.

    DB:2.67:X50v A02 Rom Update pa

Has anyone a solution to my difficulties in applying the new A02 update via ActiveSync 3.8?

I have indication of connection when the PDA is in it's cradle, and ActiveSync is syncronising correctly for general day to day items. I've followed the installation guides on the website and with the ROM update. I've done a soft reset a hard reset. I've rebooted the main computer.

But when I try to update the ROM I get the first3-4 stages of boxes to click through before getting a message "Caution: Connect your device to a computer using a sync cable or cradle before running the system update. Ensure the ActiveSync is installed on the computer and the ActiveSync connection is successful"
There is then no further indication of the installation proceeding - I have left the computer for well over the 15 minutes + 5 to check whether it was installing in the background, without any success. So it seems that the ActiveSync connection although recognised initiallyis not being recognised prior to it installing the newROM.
On one occasion, when disconnected the PDA and then reconnecting (thereby having ActiveSync go through a longer sync procedure, I got to the update box that says "The next procedure clears all data in your Pocket PC. Do you want to continue? Ensure that the AC adaptor is connected before proceeding". However, by the time this box came up though the sync had finished and I got the 'Caution' message (above) again - which again seems to imply that the issuemight bewith the ActiveSync connection / setting.
I also wonder what would happen if I clicked the OK button to 'clear all data' for the connection to then fail?

So any clues please to what obvious setting or issue I'm missing?

    DB:2.67:X50v A02 Rom Update pa

Unfortuantely, all I have is my laptop (Inspiron 7500). I did try reverting to the old 3.7.1 release of Active Sync - no such luck. I also uninstalled all of my antivirus, network, ad blockers, everything that coul possibly interfere with the ROM upgrade, but still no luck. I guess I'll have to buy a new desktop jusy to get my Axim updated. Not a bad idea...

    DB:2.66:Bluetooth Activesync Not Working 3x

Okay, here's my problem. I had Bluetooth ActiveSync working, but I installed Nyditot's Virtual Display and lost the use of all my buttons (directional, power, scroll, etc). To fix that issue I had to do a hard reset of my Axim X5. After reinstalling my drivers for my Billionton Bluetooth CF, I can't initiate an ActiveSync connection from the Bluetooth Manager on the Axim. It is sucessfully paired and I can do Network Access and do File Sharing with no problems through the Bluetooth Manager. When I try activating the Bluetooth ActiveSync, it sucessfully connects to my notebook (Inspiron 8600 with built in Bluetooth), and the desktop ActiveSync 3.7.1 client acts like it's going to work and the green globe swirls for a while, but then errors out stating that it can't find a device to connect to. (BTW, I can sync via my USB cable and 802.11b card with no issues.)

    Things I've tried:
    1) Removing ActiveSync 3.7.1 from my notebook and reinstalling
    2) Removing the Dell Bluetooth software from my notebook and reinstalling
    3) Resetting the Axim X5 again and reinstalling the drivers

    Some more information:
    1) The notebook automatically assigns the ActiveSync Bluetooth Port to be COM6 (This was the setting before I had issues syncing)
    2) The notebook also automatically assigns a Bluetooth Serial Port to be COM7 (This was the setting before I had issues syncing)
    3) The default incoming port on the Axim is COM8 and the outgoing port is COM9 after installing the Bluetooth drivers

I don't know why the ActiveSync Desktop client won't see the Axim at all. I believe it's some issue on the Axim side, but I don't know why. It's driving me crazy. Any pointers or help would be greatly appreciated.

    DB:2.66:Bluetooth Activesync Not Working 3x

The drivers I'm using are WIDCOMM based and version 1.4.1 Build 59. Another issue is that after the first Bluetooth ActiveSync attempt the ActiveSync 3.7.1 client no longer tries to communicate with the selected Bluetooth COM port whether or not you select OK or Cancel on the error message where it times out and cannot recognize the device. I had to reboot the computer to get ActiveSync 3.7.1 to work properly again (killing the WCESMgr.exe and wcescomm.exe processes and then relaunching ActiveSync 3.7.1 did not work).

Hopefully this helps others who are having issues using ActiveSync through Bluetooth.

There are two issues for the custom action of Windows Installer Setup in working with CEAppMgr.exe.1. For Windows XP, The custom action does not install the CAB file to connected Windows Mobile device right away, instead, ActiveSync will show that my application will be installed next time when a Windows Mobile device is connected. (I do notice that the command will fail if the Command shell does not Run as administrator).  I also tried to launch my MSI package from Visual Studio 2005 generated setup.exe under Command shell Run as administrator, still no luck, the same result of Installation of MyApp.CAB was unsuccessful in the connected Windows Mobile devices (for both Pocket PC and Smartphone).I've followed the exactly steps in this article, what else should I do?My Setup.ini for the custom action is as following,--------------------------------[ceAppManager]Version = 1.0Component = MyAppSetup

Not too sure if this has been asked or been discussed. We are currently a fully Lotus Domino Environment. Previous version of Blackberry Enterprise Server 5+ works fine and has been in the environment.

Now that we have just installed the Blackberry Enterprise Server 10 we are using the new Lotus Notes Traveler 9 installed successfully.

    Pros:

    1. Installation was successful

    2. BDS Configuration was successful

    3.UDS installed successfully

    4. Blackberry Z10 Works like a charm (Easy to configure)

    5. Have successfully Managed to install BES10 Lotus Notes Traveler 9 on a single Server

    Cons:

    1. Configuring UDS - Work in progress

    2. Cannot get UDSconfigured withLotus Notes Traveler 9

    3. Android Devices fail to connect to Traveler Server

    Question:

    1. Does the Traveler Server need to published with SSL out in the WEB?

    2. Configuing Microsoft ActiveSync with URL of "Servername/Servlet/Traveler" work?

    3. Are there any Documents how to configure UDS and Lotus Notes Traveler 9?

    4. Why Blackberry has not included a configuration like Microsft ActiveSync for Lotus Notes Traveler?

    DB:2.66:Uds Lotus Notes Traveler 9 7f

    I'll try to answer that:

    1. Does the Traveler Server need to published with SSL out in the WEB?

My understanding is, that for UDS the server needs to be published, because BES cannot proxy the ActiveSync traffic. That is of course if you do not use "BlackBerry Secure Workspace" (haven't tried it yet). With BSW BES should be able to proxy ActiveSync, so that Traveler does not need to be published.

    2. Configuing Microsoft ActiveSync with URL of "Servername/Servlet/Traveler" work?

You can skip "Servlet" when you use a Traveler Version supported by BlackBerry (8.5.3 UP2 or 9)

    3. Are there any Documents how to configure UDS and Lotus Notes Traveler 9?

You only need to create a valid E-Mail-Profile like in BDS. Skip Domain-Name and you do not need to enter any user credentials.

    4. Why Blackberry has not included a configuration like Microsft ActiveSync for Lotus Notes Traveler?

I do not understand this question. There is only one ActiveSync configuration. You can use it for Exchange, Traveler and any other server capable of "speaking" ActiveSync (theoretically).

Hope was able to help at least a bit,

I was trying to uninstall one of the member exchange server that resides in a domain controller.
    As per
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125110(EXCHG.65).aspx
    the following were Verified:
    1. The admin permissions.
    2. No mailboxes assigned to storage group on the server.(In the tree server has First Storage Group which in turn has Mailbox store(serverName) and Public Folder Store (serverName). Both Mailbox Store and Public Folder Store have red arrows and are
    disabled.
    3. Recipient update service is run by a different server.
    4. Site replication service is not configured.
    5. It is not a brigdgehead server.
    6. It is not a routing master.
Also, I Went to AD Users and Computers. Clicked Find button--Advanced Tab--Field--User--select Exchange Home Server-- Condition is Ends with--Value: is the name of the server eg. serverName. Returns no result when search performed
domain wise. Tried similar search for Exchange Mailbox store with Ends with, starts with criteria. No result.
The exchange services on the server were disabled for over 5 months and we didn't notice any issues.
But when uninstalling Exchange 2003 from that member server, the other components uninstalled except for Messaging and Collaboration Services (in order to remove the other components automatically we had to enable the exchange services from services.msc).
Automatic removal with installation CD results in error.
The first one is when it is Removing Active Directory objects for Exchange ActiveSync. It throws out error Setup failed while installing sub-component Exchange ActiveSync with error code 0x80072030.
Upon hitting cancel, it says removing registry entries for Microsoft Exchange OMA Browse and throws out Setup failed while installing sub-component Exchange OMA Browse with error code 0x80072030.
When cancel is clicked it takes to component messages box which has a red error in Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services. Upon clicking that it says there is no such object on the server. Facility: LDAP Provider.
Gone through http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833396 but does not seem to help. All mailboxes were migrated.
There were other links through microsoft KB that I went to which talked about removing the mailboxes pointing to the server which I don't seem to find. I am using the original install CD.
How can I get over through this automatically without manual intervention?
    Greatly appreciate any help!

1- Is there a default ActiveSync Policy available and enabled on all users in Exchange 2010?
2- I have a self-signed certificate for the moment. Is it possible to test out ActiveSync from Internal LAN and Internet?
3- Can Autodiscover be tested if there is self-signed certificate?

    2.    Please try to make sure that the status of ASP.NET version 2.0.50727 is set to Allowed in the “Web service extension” list in IIS manager.
    3.    Please verify the path to asp.net is correct. Right click on Default Web Site and then properties. The location should look like: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\aspnet_filter.dll

    5.    Please try to add these dlls into ISAPI filter, if you have another CAS, then I recommend you to copy these files there and then past to the problematic CAS.

If all the steps do not help, then please try to create a time.asp and then browse it. We need to check if IIS is under good status.

Note: You can follow the steps below to create time.asp and then browse it.

    1.    Please new a notepad.
    2.    Open it and type: %=now()%

    4.    Copy file to c:\Inetpub\wwwroot.
    5.    Try to browse the file from IIS manager(please try to use https) it should can be find under Default Web Site.

If you cannot browse the file, then I assume that the IIS is in unhealthy status, we may need to move to troubleshoot the IIS component.

Re-installed the HP 4500 software and everything seemed to be fine. I did have a problem when I tried to scan but unplugged the all in one unit, restarted my computer and it seemed to work fine.

DB:2.62:Os 2.1.0.1088 - Activesync Password Complexity Policy Settings Are Not Working 3x

Ever since I upgraded the OS on a playbook I am testing, the settings for activesync polices I am pulling from our exchage server are wrong. I can sync to the server, it asks me to set up Balance, but when I put in a password it tells me it needs 1 capital, 1 character and 1 number. This is not true. The activesync policy settings are set to 4 character, with no complexity at all. No caps, characters or numbers required.

I am the Exchange admin and I have tested this on 2 different exchange environments with the same effect. The device has been wiped and I get the same result when I attempt to connect with a new profile. This worked correctly with os 2.0.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

DB:2.62:Os 2.1.0.1088 - Activesync Password Complexity Policy Settings Are Not Working 3x

Thanks for clarifying. No, I am not allowed to define the password complexity requirements. Those are decided upon by the powers that be - I just need to implement the requirements as they are given to me. Users who are concerned about security are free to choose more complex passwords if they like.

If this discussion can be moved to the BES board I would appreciate it. I did not know where to file this discussion in the Business Support forums because I am not using a BES or Fusion for this particular device. Indeed, the entire point of testing native Activesync was to see if we could move away from BES once Blackberry 10 devices are released.

    DB:2.61:Activesync Problems W/Sync-Ing, Creating Partnerships & Connecting - Just Found Solution! m8

Had been following the threads responding to the original "Not Connecting" post from HuggyNeo, cause I was having similar problems. During the install from the Dell / ActiveSync CD that came with my Axim 5 for PC 2003, the install program was not completing the installation at the point where I was being told to plug in my USB cable. I was not able to get to the 'creating a partnership' stage of the download, therefore everytime I uninstalled/reinstalled my ActiveSync I was getting a 'not connected' dialog box on the Axim desktop. Therefore no sync-ing could happen.

I have McAfee Virus Scan McAfee Firewall programs running on my computer my way of disabling them during the numerous reinstalls of Activesync was to go to the tool tray, right click on the red McAfee "M" select "disable" for both of these. Then when I read the post from VampE4 about his being told to "Disable" his virus program before he did the install of ActiveSync a light bulb went on I thought why not really DISABLE all the virus stuff. So I went to the "Control Panel" did a complete program uninstall of: 1) McAfee Virus Scan 2) McAfee Firewall 3) McAfee Security Center

Re-booted the computer, slipped in the Dell / ActiveSync CD the thing completely loaded fully correctly. Went to the McAfee web site to do all the reinstalls of my virus pretection stuff now I am a sync-ing fool again. I hope this can help some other folks with similar issues out there! Good Luck...........

    DB:2.61:Activesync Problems W/Sync-Ing, Creating Partnerships & Connecting - Just Found Solution! m8

Anything could be causing this as different software seems to interfere with different things depending on the configuration of the particular machine. If you are running the McAfee firewall and/or Security Center, McAfee is a real possibility. I returned to McAfee 7.x without the firewall and without the Security Center and have had no problems since.

When I tried to install ActiveSync 4.1 from my cd, I received the following error message. "Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file exists and is available."

After 20 hours or so of trying re-trying suggested solutions posted under headings like “ActiveSync Support Code 85010014” here at DELL and at Microsoft too: THIS IS WHAT FINALLY WORKED. The last two changes before the thing started working… first I STARTED and set to “Automatic” the Windows XP Service “Universal Plug and Play Device Host” which had been Stopped and set to Manual start. This may not be needed, and didn’t solve the problem, but I had seen it in some post as a “requirement” and it sounds reasonable. Then I discovered this post in a Microsoft Newsgroup, browsed to the included URL link and performed the tasks there and VOILA, a working Axim X51v to Outlook 2003 ActiveSync!!!

Subject: RE: AS4.1 Error 8501001412/7/2005 8:36 PM PST By: RiJo
    In: microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync

I fixed my ActiveSync 85010014 with simplicity!!!
The following site had among the most simple solutions (after very, very, ver much reinstalling, searching, fidgeting with technicalities I have no understanding of): http://www.sb.com.au/jasjar/activesync_4_0.html
Skim down to about the 2nd half of the page at "1st October: I solved my ActiveSync problem with Error 85010014!" follow the directions from there. This took about 5 minutes total I didn't lose any information (Windows XP Professional, AS4.1). I almost didn't try this since it is so simple compared to all the other advice given that hasn't worked for too many others.

The basic steps at that URL link are:
    1. I then ran Control Panel - Add or remove Programs - Office 2003
    2. and chose to modify my installation by adding or removing components.
    3. I unchecked Outlook and updated it to remove Outlook from my Office 2003 suite.
    4. Then returned to this option and re-checked Outlook to add it back to my Office 2003 Suite. NOTE: you may be asked to insert your Office 2003 Install CD-Rom.
    5. Rebooted and connected... Bingo NO 85010014 error!

    Good luck!! ~susanre

DB:2.60:Possible Solution To Activesync Desktop Error Support Code 85010014 97

The Add/Remove Programs approach worked for me too...Thankfully!!

One note. You have to actually do the update of your installation, meaning that you have to actually remove Outlook. I interpreted the steps to say that I did not actually need to remove Outlook...this was wrong. I would update the steps as follows:

The basic steps at that URL link are:
    1. Go to Control Panel - Add or remove Programs - Office 2003
    2. Choose to modify your installation by adding or removing components.
    3. Uncheck Outlook to remove it from your Office 2003 suite.
    4. Press update to remove Outlook and actually remove it.
    5. Return to the Add/Remove programs for Office and select Outlook to add it back to your Office 2003 Suite. NOTE: you may be asked to insert your Office 2003 Install CD-Rom.
    5. Reboot and connect...and hopefully...Bingo NO 85010014 error!

After running these commands, I cannot connect any new users to Exhange 2003 via Activesync, as I get Authentication failed. Current users still receive emails, but I cannot connect those same users on other phones either.

DB:2.60:Activesync Issues After Running Adprep On 2003 Dc kx

I know this is an old topic, but we ran into this issue over the weekend and wanted to update the post for future readers.
We are converting our environment to Windows 2008R2 on VMware and after running
ADPREP on our 2003 PDC, none of our mobile users on Android or iOS could connect to the mail server (Exchange 2003). We isolated the issue to
ActiveSync. All other protocols were working fine (IMAP, POP, Exchange). The issue was caused due to some setting changes on IIS virtual directories.
Open IIS Manager and expand the directory tree for Web Sites - Default Web Site. Right-Click on the
Exchange and the Public virtual directories and select
Properties. Select the Directory Security Tab and click on
Edit under Authentication and access control. Verify
Integrated Windows authentication is ticked on. This solved our issue instantly without having to restart any services or devices.
I hope this helps anyone with the same issue. I cannot understand why ADPREP would affect any IIS Virtual Directory settings, but glad it was an easy fix.

We're facing sporadic issues with lost / changing meeting organizers in Exchange 2010 SP1. Clients are Outlook 2003 SP3 and 2010 - as well as many types of ActiveSync devices.
    1. One behaviour is that for certain meeting attendees, when they attempt to accept invitations, they figured out that they somehow became the new meeting organizer. The message displayed is As the meeting organizer you do not have to respond to this meeting
    request.
    2. The second - seemingly related - issue is that when an attendee attempts to accept an invitation, the following error is displayed: You cannot respond to a meeting without an organizer. In fact, the organizer IS missing on such appointments, even if
it was just received from the originator = organizer.
There are hints / workarounds to similar issues described here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvr3rdpartyapps/thread/329e22a3-6455-4844-b6d2-42f826e9d06b/
But that does not seem to fully cover our issues.
Other indications are that certain ActiveSync implementations could cause that when one accepts meeting requests on mobile devices (iOS 4.x, Nokia Mail For Exchange, Android)
Any help beyond these hints speculations is greatly appreciated!

    Hi,

There are several similar cases I can research indicate that one unknown MAPI property has been written onto the meeting invite, when a mobile device are used.

Therefore, I would suggest you temporary disable or remove your mobile devices to see if you are able to reproduce this issue.

If the issue does not reoccur, then we may confirm the issue is caused by the mobile device, and you may update the CDO to the latest version, or contact your mobile device support for further help.

If the issue does reoccur, please verify if there is delegate relationship between the affected attendee and the original organizer; moreover, remove all Outlook Add-ins in both the attendee and the original organizers
Outlook, and then try again to see if the issue reoccurs.

What ROM version do you ahev on your device. According to Dell's website, the latest is version3692EU_BT, A01. If you do not have it, I suggest you download and install it on your device. Now, since you have no partnership with your Vista box, download

ActiveSync will not continue until the user clicks OK. This is annoying to the user and we would like to stop this behavior.
Is this an email security feature of Mobile 4 or is this a problem that we can correct?

DB:2.59:Show Stopper Today With Edirectory (Ldap) x9

We are currently setting up Sun IDM 5.5 and are trying to do
reconciliation with an eDirectory 8.6.2 (10350.29) but are experiencing
severe performance issues. The directory contains groups with large scale
membership base, some groups 25.000+ members.

Same scenario occurs with Sun IDM 5.0 SP5.

When isolating to a single OU as baseDN with 10 accounts, a full clean
reconciliation takes 6-10 minutes. The network has thoroughly been
debugged, and no errors or issues have been found. Manual browsing in the
eDirectory with various ldap-tools without any issues. The total case
involves a total of more than 30.000+ accounts.

A test with identical user data in a Sun Directory Server 5.2 does the reconciliation take approx 2-3 seconds.

The eDirectory LDAP RA adapter can be viewed below. Any insight, or similar experiences are of great value and importance! Anything that can help me get this on track...

So how do you decrypt the password here.

I am trying out the "idmspe-refkit.zip" that comes with IDM, but the password for the ldap resource is encrypted to "VhXrkGkfDKw="

I can't find any documentation on what is the default password.

I thought is is a base64 encoding, but using some online base64 decoder doesn't seem to give the correct password.

DB:2.59:Exchange 2003/2010 Internet Facing Issues mm

Let me preface this by saying that I've read the following article from Microsoft:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998186.aspxand the following forum post:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/thread/d3e787cc-ea6d-4119-bdfa-3066c91ac7f8
    Here is my scenario:
    1. One Exchange 2003 Server (mailboxes, public folders, OWA, ActiveSync)
    2. Two Exchange 2010 Servers. Server A: Hub Transport, Client Access, Mailbox; Server B: Hub Transport, Client Access (this server is internet facing)
    3. All mailboxes (except 1 test) on Exchange 2003 server
    4. Internet FQDN of Exchange 2003:
    https://mail.mycompany.org; Internal FQDN:
    https://EX1.mycompany.local/exchange
    5. Internet FQDN of Exchange 2010:
    https://mail2.mycompany.org; Internal FQDN:
    https://EXCH04.mycompany.local/owa
    6. Both servers have a third-part SSL with their respective Internet FQDN
I did not add the Exchange 2010 server to the organization. I am inheriting all of this setup. I am tasked with transitioning to Exchange 2010 and making it seamless to users. I have tried pointing a smart phone at the FQDN of the Exchange
2010 to get mail from a mailbox located on the Exchange 2003 server but that does not appear to work. Only using the FQDN of the Exchange 2003 server will work for ActiveSync. My goal is to be able to use one address to access OWA and ActiveSync
while both servers are in coexistence. Is this possible? In other transitions I've simply added the Exchange 2010 server and everything seemed to just auto-magically work while I took my sweet time moving mailboxes. I would appreciate any
helpful pointers anyone could give as to making this happen.

DB:2.59:Exchange 2003/2010 Internet Facing Issues mm

    SUCCESS!!!
I set Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync to use Integrated Windows Authentication (this is following the virtual directory reset). I performed an IIS reset on both the Exchange 2003 MBX and the Exchange 2010 CAS. Voila! I can now access Exchange
2003 mailboxes from the Exchange 2010 CAS.
Thanks for all of the input!

DB:2.59:Activesync V4.5 Problems - Constantly Running, And Accumulating Unresolved Items.. 11

    I'm currently running..

    - Windows XP Professional SP2
    - ActiveSync v4.5
    - ATT Tilt (Windows Mobile 6)

I've been having two problems with ActiveSync v4.5.

    1) Constant Syncing. It seems like ActiveSync v4.5 wants
to constantly sync, even when there are no changes. And when ActiveSync
is running, my ATT Tilt definitely slows down in performance. So a
typical problem would be: I'm talking on the phone via bluetooth
headset, and reading off information from my ATT Tilt. Then
ActiveSync will kick in, and now the ATT Tilt becomes slow and
    unresponsive.

    2) Unresolved Items. When I edit save a MS Word file
on my laptop, but don't close the file, ActiveSync tries to sync the
file, but ends up with an unresolved item. In order to resolve the
item, I have to close the MS Word file, and then maually tell
ActiveSync to resolve the unresolved items. With previous Pocket PCs
and ActiveSync versions, I was able to edit save files, without
    accumulating these unresolved items.

Are there any adjustments, tweaks, patches, hacks, or freeware that can
solve the above two issues? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

DB:2.59:Activesync V4.5 Problems - Constantly Running, And Accumulating Unresolved Items.. 11

    You can install the free
ActiveSync toggle software and turn Active Sync off when you are done syncing.

    The problem here:

    1. When install with RAID-5 300GB x 6, the installation fails saying cannot detect the physical disks.

    HI Boydd,

    Yet have another Questions.

Since with ESX 2.5.2 have the limitations of not installing over LUN/ Local Storage with more than 1TB, with the scenario below:

    1. Current Array size is 900GB, and I would like expand the Array with another 600GB, meaning it is over 1TB.

    2. Will ESX 2.5.2 recognise the free space resultant from the disk expansions?

    3. If yes, Am I able to create a new VMFS volume with the free space available?

    Thanks

When trying to install AciveSync I receive an error that the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. When I browse for the install file setup.msi and choose the file for install I receive the following error. The file
is not a valid installation package for the product Microsoft ActiveSync. Try to find the installation package 'setup[1].msi' in a folder from which you can install Microsoft ActiveSync. This is very frustrating, does anyone have ideas for a fix or work-around?

DB:2.58:Problem Installing Micrsoft Activesync For My Palm Treo 800w Using Windows 6.5 88

The problem is actually with the Windows Installer. It's looking for an old copy of the setup for some reason in order to uninstall the old version. Since you will never find the old copy, you would need to use the Windows installer fixer that Microsoft
made rather than fixing the problem.

    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

This is a half-assed solution but since Microsoft will never fix the larger issue,it's the only solution other than re-formatting and re-installing Windows.

We have a newer Exchange 2010 installation and I've got several mailboxes migrated. My mailbox is migrated and my iPhone 4S is syncing just fine. However, I just migrated two additional IT Dept mailboxes and neither user can access their mail
from their smartphone. One has an Android and one has an iPhone 4. I see our firewall passing the traffic successfully. The android is getting a bad username or password error, despite using the correct username and password and the other
iPhone is getting a cannot connect to mail error. Any idea where to begin troubleshooting when I know it is not a problem with the whole system since mine is working? In addition, I've made sure we are all not members of the AD Domain Admins group.

I found the issue after doing some additional research. While these accounts are not currently domain admins, they were at one time. In ADUC, I had to go to the user account, right click and Properties. Select the Security tab and then
click Advanced. Once I checked Include inheritable permissions from the object's parent, ActiveSync worked for these two people.

DB:2.58:Activesync Changes Effecting Mobile Synchronization Limits? kd

    Hi,
The new Blackberry phones (Operating System 10) now utilize Exchange ActiveSync. I have had my Blackberry Q10 configured with my Hotmail account using Exchange ActiveSync for about 6 months with no problem. I was able to synchronize my entire
Inbox (forever synchronization) without a problem over this time. Last month, I started having problems with my Hotmail account on the phone. The entire mailbox would disappear, and I could no longer synchronize. Please correct
me if I am wrong, but I found out that Exchange ActiveSync 2013 came out around the same time. A moderator in the Microsoft Community Forum stated that Exchange ActiveSync only works for 30 days of synchronization. However, that is
obviously not true since I was syncing my entire Hotmail Inbox regardless of how old the emails were. In addition, I have my entire work Inbox synchronized through a University Exchange server without a problem or time limitation. I have seen this
posted on many sites online, and it appears to be a problem for some Android and iPhone users as well. I have the following questions:
    1. Did Microsoft indeed change their configuration for Exchange Activesync recently for Hotmail?
    2. Is the forever to 30 day limitation a server issue with people with legacy accounts (i.e., Hotmail) that are now using Outlook.com?
    3. Do people who start brand new accounts with Outlook.com have the same issues or can they sync forever?
    4. If everything has been switched to Outlook.com, why are the mobile servers still labeled with Hotmail?
I would really appreciate any help someone can give me. Thanks!

Can no one help with this issue? I have been going back and forth with moderators on the Microsoft community forums with no resolution. They won't even ask the support specialists these simple questions.

Our 2010 environment currently consists of one mailbox server with 8 db's split accross 4 volumes 2 for dbs 2 for logs, another server contains the CAS/Hub roles and a third server in the DMZ contains the EdgeSync role as handles inbound/outbound mail.
Like some we have encountered issues with iOS devices and ActiveSync when these issues have occurred outlook performance at the workstation level has sufferred. We are therefore testing the idea of standing up a second CAS server which we want to have just
the mobile devices point to using ActiveSync for our workstations we want them to point to the other CAS server. Our thought is if a new iOS is released and causes problems or a buggy device causes issues those issues won't affect outlook performance for users
in the office. What i need to know now is 1. Is what we want to do possible w/o any load balancer of any sort microsoft or 3rd party. 2. If possible how do we prevent the mobile CAS server from servicing RPC requests from workstations and only
service those from mobile devices. 3. Are there any issues we should be expectant of by using this configuration.

DB:2.58:Add A Standalone Cas Server To A Non Load Balancer Environment fs

The AutodiscoverURI is used for domain-joined clients, not ActiveSync or OWA, EWS clients.
By setting it to the same autodiscoverURL as is set for the autodiscoverURI on the internal CAS ( I am assuming that is what the internal CAS is set) , you are essentially redirecting the domain-joined Outlook clients to the internal CAS. Hope
    that makes sense.

DB:2.57:Exchange, New Calendar Item On Mobile Device, Endless Sync k1

    Greetings,

On two separate occasions in the last week, I have encountered a situation where my device has entered a seemingly endless ActiveSync loop. The cause was the creation of a single non recurring entry in my calendar on my device and then attempting to sync
that event to my Exchange calendar. After attempting to sync, the 'Issues' area in the WinMo ActiveSync was active, which showed multiple failed attempts to sync this event. Here are a few more details on the situation and troubleshooting thus far:

Device: ATT Tilt, WinMo 6.1 (CE OS 5.2.19214, Build 19214.1.0.4)
ROM: Stock ATT WinMo 6.1 Update (3.57.502.2 WWE)
    Exchange: Exchange 2007 SP1, Rollup 3
Cause: Originate calendar event on mobile device, endless sync to Exchange, event causes error
Event Detail: Standard nonrecurring event, single day, short duration (1-2 hours), inside and outside working hours window.
    Behavior:
    * Endless ActiveSync on device with incrementing calendar entries
    - Has shown 1/2, 2/3, 3/4, or an incrementing number (Calendar: 1, Calendar:2, etc)
    - Will not stop on its own (has incremented to several thousand)
    * Does not occur with new contact or email, or contact update
    * Occurs whether sync occurs local sync with Vista PC / Mobile Device Center or via wireless (DirectPush)

    Have tried:
    * Soft reset of device (no change)
    * Hard reset of device (no change)
    * Remove calendar entry from mobile device (worked once, failed once)

Any assistance is appreciated. This will be cross posted to the Exchange group as well.

    Thanks!

The trick is that you need to reset the time on the WinMo device to a time zone that does not recognize DST, sync, set it to your home time zone, then sync again. There was another article off of the support site that was more of a deep dive on
why this is the case, but I didn't pull it down. Follow the instructions in the first link; it worked for me!

    Hello,

I have some Questions about creating an ActiveSync Profile.

I have an iPad 2 an Android Samsung S3mini as test-devices.

Under Settings "Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync Configuration" I got an OK for working. Use SSL is setting to false.

Under Library I started to configuration an ActiveSync Profile.

    1. Domain: XXXXXXX.XXXXXX.COM

    2. Email Address: %UserEmailAdress%

    3. Host Name: srv-ex2010

    4. Username: %UserName%

The next 4. Points are not marked.

After saving and deploying it to the devices, it's not working.

If I manually get an ActiveSync account on android I activate using SSL during configuration, but I didn't activate for using an client-certificate.

An another Question is, what CA certificated and shared certificates do I need uploading. Is it the certificate from my exchange or from my blackberry server? For me it is an mysterious to reading all this guides. No one is telling one, what kind of certificates you need.

It is much better to get corrections, how to that write down 1000 words. A picture can tell you more than these words.

Hope to get it work one day.

I just upgraded by new Dell laptop's security software to Norton Internet Security 2006, and also loaded Norton System Works 2006. Smooth installation, all went well until...

When I placed myAxim X3 in its cradle to sync, ActiveSync 3.8 would not launch. I've tried:

    1. Uninstalling and reinstalling ActiveSync 3.8 more than once. It loads fine but will not launch.
    2. I've added all the ActiveSync 3.8 .exe files to Norton's firewall list as "permit all"
    3. I've turned off Norton's Antispam/Anti-Popup features (I read on Microsoft site this might work).
    4. I've added to Norton's list all ports ActiveSynch uses (I read on Symantec site this might work).

Bottom line, nothing is working. I have loaded ActiveSync 4.1; problem sort of fixed (I also posted that problem to see if I receive any responses).

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

DB:2.56:Norton Internet Security 2006 Versus Activesync 3.8 pm

Just to make sure we tried the same thing, I followed this sequence:

    1. Loaded Norton Internet Security 2006.

    2. Microsoft ActiveSync could no longer "find" Microsoft Outlook 2003, even though Outlook was still present and working fine.

    3. I ugraded from ActiveSync 3.8 to 4.1, based on the Microsoft bulletin that it fixed many connection problems.

    4. 4.1, I later discovered, is not completely compatible with my older Axim 3.

    5. I used Microsoft "uninstall programs" to uninstall 4.1.

    5. I re-installed 3.8. Now found that 3.8 would not launch. The green symbol in my system tray looked like it was searching for a sync, but would not launch the ActiveSync program.

    6. I worked with Dell, Symantec and Microsoft; all useless. They all mindlessly led me through some sort of decision tree I'm sure they had been given. None of them seemed to have the expertise to work the problem.

7.Quite by accident, I found a file in the ActiveSync folder (c:\program files\microsoft activesync) that documented the 3.8 installation. The file name is WCESETUP. I double-clicked this file and Wordpadlaunched a document listing all the files that were added or revised.

When I read this file on my laptop, I noticed that several files fail to update because "a more current version" was found...all were "leftovers" from 4.1 that uninstall failed to remove.

    8. I uninstalled 3.8, used Windows Explorer to locate and delete all the "leftover" 4.1 files. I was careful to keep all these in the recycle bin in case I needed later for another program. I did find it necessary to have my Microsoft Office 2003 system CD on hand, as one of the files removed isa file common to other Microsoft Office programs. All you have to do, if prompted, is place the CD in your PC when prompted and Office will automatically retrieve the needed file from the CD.

    9. I reinstalled 3.8...looooooooooooong story short, all is well now. Again, my problem with 3.8 not lauching after 4.1 install/uninstall was leftover 4.1 files.

    Good luck.

the instructions on the troubleshooting, to also delete rapi.dll from windows\system32 which I did.
Then I re-installed 4.2 and it started giving me this message. I uninstalled and reinstalled but the message continues.

I do not think the 4.5 install can solve my problem as my HW6515c running Windows Mobile 2003 4.21 will not sync with the 4.5 version.
And also now I lost my partnership, which I cannot restablish on 4.5.
    Can anybody help me please?
Many thanks, I look forward to an answer.
    Kind regards
    Tina

    DB:2.55:Activesync 4.5 Fails To Load 7p

I have a new Treo Pro and I have attempted to load ActiveSync 4.5 on both my laptop and desktop. On both occassions the setup program directed me to Windows Installer 3.1 (v2) which I installed and rebooted. When I came back to the setup screen Windows Installer engaged to setup ActiveSync and the process stoped with the following message "Wizard was interupted before Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 could be completely installed". During installation I closed down ZoneAlarm Pro so no antivirus/firewall was operating. I restored and did the process again on both computers with the same problem. Help!! I contacted support and they helped me download the ActiveSync program directly to my desktop. Same interuption, its just not loading.

I have transitioned from a Tro 650 to the Pro as I need to run software only available on Windows Mobile. This experience reminds me of computing 10 years ago when most things didn't work exactly as planned. In 2008, I expect my technology to work out of the box. If I can't find a simple solution to this problem I'm going to have to find another phone and differnet software solution.

Any assistance would be gratly appreciated. ----- wants to be

Did you install the new service pack from Microsoft? What is the issue is your installer needs to be update. And from the sounds of your issue is you are trying to do that at the same time you are installing Activesync. What happens though is you cannot install two things at the same time.

So if you already have the XP SP3 installed you can install the installer shield manually and see if that will fix your issue. The windows install instructions and download is here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893803.

    Hi,

I have a couple of installation questions:

.1. Does the iAS installation create a new database, when it runs the Oracle database config. assistant.

.2. Is Oracle Portal and Oracle Portal Repository loaded in the origin database.

.3. Is the login server the same as the origin database ?

.4. When the installer asks for the global database name and SID is it for the origin database ?

    Regards,

    Steven

    DB:2.55:9ias Installation Issues f1

    Hi Steven,

Q1. Does the iAS installation create a new database, when it runs the Oracle database config. assistant.

Ans. In Minimal/HTTP Server Only type install, there won't be any database created by iAS. But in Standard Edition type one local database will be created in the iAS Oracle home. In Enterprise Edition type there will be a cache database created which will be used to cache another (origin )database.

Q2. Is Oracle Portal and Oracle Portal Repository loaded in the origin database.

Ans. Oracle Portal will be installed on the iAS machine (oracle_home) and the repository will be loaded in the database where you wish to. During portal configuration OPCA will ask for the connect information of this database.

Q3. Is the login server the same as the origin database ?

During portal configuration it will create one oracle portal user, schema and DAD as well as one login server user, schema and DAD in the backend database and the repository will be loaded over there.

Q4. When the installer asks for the global database name and SID is it for the origin database ?

Ans. This dialog you will get only in Standard Edition install where there is a local database creation comes. And the Global database name and SID you give will be used by the database configuration assistant (in the configuration stage) to create this local database. This is not at all related with the origin database.

    Hope this helps,
    Mercy

    DB:2.55:Kerberos Issues After Installing Ocs 2007 R2 X64 On W2k8 R2 With Exchange 2010 af

    Hi,

I've done what should never be done - I've installed in production environment ;-(
After tricky installation of OCS 2007 r2 on an W2K8 r2 machine running Exchange 2010 sp1 I'm unable to login OWA, Communicator, ActiveSync and using Exchange Management Shell/Console.
From MSEX mgmt console I get an 'access denied' at 'trying connection to http://FQDN/PowerShell' from 'kerberos'. Trying MSEX PS I get also 'access denied' with hint to look at 'about_remote_troubleshooting'. Looking at eventlog I see event-ID 4 source security-kerberos
with an KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error. At security log I can find event-ID 4625 users trying to connect with w3wp.exe (I guess OWA and ActiveSync because they do not work anymore).
Its possible to open default web page using https (but not to log in OWA fpr example) but its not possible to open default web page using http (resulting in access denied).
I'm out of ideas what else to look for.

    With kind regards
    Ronny

DB:2.54:Download Jeoderuntime On Ipaq Across Serial Connection ms

    Hello,

Incident Title: Can't download JeodeRuntime on Windows CE device via
    JeodeConfigurator across a serial connection.
    Incident Type: Installation
    Product: Insignia Jeode JVM
    Product Version Number: 1.9
Hardware Specifics : iPAQ 3630 PocketPC
    Host OS: Windows 2000
    Target OS: Windows CE 3.0

Here is the description of the problem:

We tried to download JeodeRuntime on Windows CE device via JeodeConfigurator
across a serial connection, following the instructions in document
    "...\Jeode1.9\docs\setup\win-ce\serial.htm" .
    1. We set up ActiveSync (we tried version 3.1 and 3.5) - successful
    2. We installed Remote Access Service (RAS) - successful
    3. We configured RAS - successful
    4. We started RAS - successful
    5. We created a user account - successful
    6. We configured the NT machine - successful
    7. We connected to the RAS server - failed.

I will describe the last point more detailed:

a.. On the target device, we started ActiveSync
b.. Ensureed the baud rate is set to 115200 Default, then selected
    Connect....
c.. When prompted, entered the username and password for the user account
we created previously on our host. Left the Domain field blank
After that the process of establishing connection starts:

    1. On iPAQ we get dialog box "Connecting to desktop" with such information :
"PC contacted. Locating conection agent. Please wait..."

    2. After that on host computer we have an Incoming Connection tray icon
displayed and it says that everything is fine - connection established, data
is transferring and host IP is 192.168.55.100 and client IP is say
192.168.55.101. We can PING the iPAQ and the connection seems to be working
and we can see a display similar to this:

Pinging 192.168.55.101 with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 192.168.55.101: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=32
    Reply from 192.168.55.101: bytes=32 time=10ms TTL=32
    Reply from 192.168.55.101: bytes=32 time=10ms TTL=32
    Reply from 192.168.55.101: bytes=32 time=10ms TTL=32

    3. After that on iPAQ we get dialog box "Connecting to desktop" with such
information : "Checking for partnership with this computer. Please wait..."

    4. After that on host computer we have an exception raised from ActiveSync,
that looks like pop-up error box with title "Failed to start Remote
Services" and such information "Critical communications services have failed
to start. To correct this error, exit all applications and restart Windows.
If the problem persists, please reinstall Microsoft ActiveSync by running
    Setup from installation disk(s)"

But unfortunately neither reinstall of ActiveSync nor reinstall of RAS
    services could help us.

    5. After that on iPAQ we get dialog box "Connecting to desktop" with such
information : "ActiveSync not responding on the desktop computer"

Sure that JeodeConfigurator after this can't contact iRemote program to
    download JeodeRuntime on WindowsCE device.

IS THERE ANY WORKAROUND FOR THIS PROBLEM ?
CAN WE DOWNLOAD JEODERUNTIME ON WINDOWS CE DEVICE VIA JEODE CONFIGURATOR ACROSS A SERIAL CONNECTION IN SOME OTHER WAY ?

    Thanks in advance.

DB:2.54:Download Jeoderuntime On Ipaq Across Serial Connection ms

Hi rsolod since you know a lot about PersonalJava would be great if you could help me get started with it.
I need to build an application on Compaq IPAQ. I guess the Jeode VM for IPAQ is the best available. Is that right ?
Also what JDK do I need to install with PersonalJava ?? I guess PersonalJava is a stripped down version of J2SE, then how does the application work fine with JDK1.3 ??

    Any help is really appreciated

    Thanks
    Neeraj

DB:2.54:Bes Queries Related To Activesync cd

    Hi

I know this topic has been debated to death but I had two questions that I was hoping people could help me with Our management are toying with the idea of replacing BES with ActiveSync going forward.

From reading up on the Internet, the three major benefits of BES over EAS are:

    1. Push/Pull: Reading here

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/bb288524.aspx

"Mobile devices that support Direct Push issue an HTTPS request to the Exchange server that asks Exchange Server to report any new or changed e-mail messages, calendar, contact, and task items. If changes occur within the lifespan of the HTTPS request, the Exchange server issues a response to the device that includes which folders have new or changed items. The device then issues a synchronization request to the server. After synchronization is complete, a new HTTPS request is generated to re-start the process."

To me, this isn't real Push technology! Basically, the EAS client is 'checking in' with Exchange regularly to see if it has new mail.

Would I be correct in saying that if BES knows there is a new message for a user (via the UDP notification), then it sends the message directly. The handheld doesn't actually need to keep checking in with BES?

That said, does this make much of a difference given that most people are on unlimited data plans now?

    2. Security

BES uses 3DES which is 'virtually unbreakable'. EAS uses HTTPS. Isn't HTTPS virtually unbreakable too though?

I think everyone agrees BES has loads more IT policies though.

    3. Data compression

BES's compression of data is much more effecient than EAS's. But - again - what effect does this have on the user given the unlimited data plans?

    4. Troubleshooting

BES logs, when used with BRK, are great are pinpointing issues. EAS IIS logs is very much 'needle in a haystack' situation.

Can anyone think of anything else to help me?

Finally, how exactly is RIM fighting the ActiveSync threat?

DB:2.54:Bes Queries Related To Activesync cd

With ActiveSync, you don't have the management capabilities you do with BES. There isn't a management console to view, sort, group, export and report on your users. You also don't have the same capabilities pushingapplication or device upgrades to your devices like you do with BES.

The BES also allow's the BB users to access their intranet, and internal IM.

DB:2.54:How To Configure Asa To Allow Activesync Connections ? cj

To allow Activesync connections (between smartphones and an internal Exchange server) thru an ASA, I think about 3 or 4 potential solutions :

    1) do a NAT on the Exchange server and allow  activesync TCP connections from any IP to the Exchange server : I tested that and this works, but it is not the most secure solution we can imagine;

    2) use a Clienless VPN SSL  ASA configuration : I tried it, but got problems certaintly related to the fact that the Activesync client, installed on my Android/Samsung smartphone, does not seem to be able vto pass properly thru the ASA Portal to reach the Exchange server;

    3) use an Anyconnect VPN ASA configuration : I tried it , but did not manage to install or use any of the Samsung Anyconnect client available on Android Market; by the way, I saw, in the Anyconnect VPN Client Admin Guide 2.4, that an ActiveSync MSI is available from CISCO (

    anyconnect-wince-ARMv4I-activesync-AnyConnectRelease_Number-k9.msi), but I don't see any details about how it is supposed to be used except that it is for Windows environment only, so, not for an Android phone, but I have Windows Mobile smartphones to integrate too, so, maybe it can help me in this case ;

    4) if Clientless nor Anyconnect solutions can't work, it might be better to use the ASA Cut-Through proxy function to get a more secure solution than the first one listed above; but I was not successful either with this cut-through proxy function

Any ideas or examples about how to allow activesync connections thru ASA would be welcomed

    DB:2.54:Wm5 To Wm6 Upgrade mp

I would appreciate help with these questions/issues.

I have an O2 XDA Orbit running Windows Mobile 5 with CoPilot Live 6 satnav software and VoiceCommand 1.6. I use a Logitech F-0179A Bluetooth headset which works perfectly with VoiceCommand.

O2 has now made available a free WM6 upgrade but before I install it and either take another step up the mountain of satisfaction (I am extremely happy with the Orbit right now) or step into an abyss of incompatibility, bugs and non-functionality, I would
appreciate help with the following questions and concerns.

    1. Installation using Vista and Windows Mobile Device Center instead of ActiveSyncR 4.5

The O2 instructions at their website tell me to run ActiveSyncR 4.5. I did have ActiveSync 4.5 on my old XP Pro PC but my new PC has Vista Home Premium and Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1.6965. will this be OK? By the way, I have never heard of ActiveSyncR.

    2. Backup and restore of SMS messages

How can I back up the hundreds of SMS messages on my Orbit and restore them after the upgrade?

    3. Backup and restore of MMS messages

How can I back up the MMS messages on my Orbit and restore them after the upgrade?

    4. VoiceCommand 1.6 reinstallation

I have read about many people who have found it impossible to get their Bluetooth headset working properly with their device and VoiceCommand 1.6. I have been fortunate and have no problems with WM5, but what about WM6? Can someone assure me that all will
remain well including all of the following?

Full functionality of Bluetooth headset including:

    Voice prompts through headset
    Initiate calls from headset
Announcement of calls and emails through headset

    5. Are there any issues I am likely to face regarding CoPilot Live 6 reinstallation?
Any other help, advice, suggestions, warnings and cautions gratefully received.
    Thanks in anticipation!

    DB:2.53:Re-Quarantine Activesync Device md

I have set up ActiveSync for a customer. They are trying to enforce strict policies.
This is the use case which gives me a problem:
    1. Configure iPhone with ActiveSync.
    2. Log in to ECP, allow the quarantined device.
    3. Phone synchronizes.
    4. Remote Wipe the device, the device is wiped.
    5. Configure the same phone for ActiveSync again (same Device ID).
    6. Phone synchronizes.
The problem here is that if the phones are to be reused, the phone could be handed out to others in the organization which should not be allowed to synchronize the device with ActiveSync. The phone would then unintentionally already be authorized for ActiveSync.
I know, they could remove the user from ActiveSync group in AD etc. but what if the user should be allowed to use ActiveSync on some other deivce and not this one? Theres no granularity... Once a device is authorized it is authorized for life?
How do one go about deleting a phone from the organization, completely, enabling it to be re-quarantined?

    DB:2.53:Re-Quarantine Activesync Device md

    Sort of:
    In Exchange Management Shell:

    List all ActiveSync units:
get-ActiveSyncDeviceList all ActiveSyncunits registreredon a user:
    Get-ActiveSyncDevice -mailbox user@contoso.comDeletepartnership:
Run command #2 to find the string Identity. A user may have more than one phone registered, so be sure to select the correct unit.

The complete command will look like this:
    Remove-ActiveSyncDevice -identity contoso.com/Users/Username/ExchangeActiveSyncDevices/iPhone§Appl7R11845XXXX

DB:2.53:Exchange, New Calendar Item On Device, Endless Sync sz

    Greetings,

On two separate occasions in the last week, I have encountered a situation where my device has entered a seemingly endless ActiveSync loop. The cause was the creation of a single non recurring entry in my calendar on my device and then attempting to sync that event to my Exchange calendar.

This will be cross posted to the Windows Mobile group as well.
    Thanks!
    Kurt

DB:2.53:Exchange, New Calendar Item On Device, Endless Sync sz

I also have Tilt, WM6.1, Exchange 2007 (part of SBS2008), and exactly the same problem of endless calendar sync.  Changing the time sone on the device and changing it back solves the problem temporarily, but the endless sync comes back after I change battery in Tilt.  I have tried syncing with another user account on the same Exchange server and it fails with that account too.Any new info on this problem?

    DB:2.53:Exchange 2013 Cu1 Issues - Internal Relay, Android/Activesync zc

    Hello,

I have an Exchange 2013 CU1 installation that started life as Exchange 2013 RTM. I have a number of issues and as a non-expert in exchange generally I am finding it difficult to resolve them (largely due to the lack of information from the experiences of other
users that I normally rely upon).

I have a small setup of 25 users. 15 local, 10 remote. The installation is on a Windows 2012 Server VM running on a Hyper-V server. The Hyper-V server is running on a HP DL 380 G7 with 2x Xeon's under Windows Server 2012 with 15k RPM drives in RAID 10. The
only other VM on the server is a domain controller, and 20GB of memory is assigned to the exchange vm.

    My issues are:
    1. Extremely poor performance with the Outlook web app with just 10 users, and the system seems to be pretty slow in general (e.g. an email from 1 internal outlook client to another used to be almost instantaneous in 2007, now there may be 5 or 10 second delay)
    2. One of my android 4.1.2 devices connects with activesync and syncs fine, but from time to time it will have a sign in failure. Sometimes re-entering the password corrects the problem, sometimes it will reoccur.

    3. I don't know how to allow internal relay from e.g. copiers and other servers/software via exchange. I have setup a HubTransport Receive Connector with permission to exchange servers and anonymous users, but I am unable to telnet on port 25 as I assume
I should be able to. However, sometimes this seems to work?
I can fix issue #1 by using Outlook (I will upgrade external clients) but #2 and #3 are problems. I have a feeling my issues may be authentication related?

One solution would be to crank up a new VM and put Exchange 2010 SP3 on it, and move to that. I would like to do that in the weekend if I have to, so I only have about 40 hours to fix this current installation.
    Any help appreciated.

DB:2.53:Activesync... Menu Items Greyed Out And Exchange Issue ck

These two issues may be connected, I am not sure.

I am trying to sync my HTC P4000 from Telus with an exchange account. I have been able to set up other POP emails just fine. It came with Mobile 6.

The instructions I have been given are as follows:
lease install ActiveSync on your System before performing these steps.

    1. First establish a connection between your mobile device and the PC on
which ActiveSync is installed. ActiveSync normally starts automatically after
    the connection has been established.

    2. Click Options.

    3. In the window that pop's up click Rules tab. Under Pass Through make
sure the connection says The Internet. Click OK.

    (No problems up to here)

    4. Go back to the Sync Options tab. You can select how ActiveSync
synchronizes with your local PC in the upper part of this window. Click Configure.

(The Options tab is greyed out, no matter what I try)

    5. Choose the information you want to synchronize directly with the
server. (calendar, contacts, e-mail). You can also change the settings by
clicking Settings. Click Connection to set up the server information.

(This makes sense, however, as things are greyed out, I can't get to this step)

    6. Enter the server name (exchange.1and1.com), user name and password.
(The user name can be retrieved from the Control Panel - Administration - MS
Exchange Account.) The domain should say "EXCHANGE". Click OK.

This completes the configuration for synchronizing with the server. You
may now disconnect your device from the local computer.

Any suggestions would be MUCH appreciated.

    Andy

The emuascfg solution does not work with ActiveSync 4.0 or newer:  it depended on ActiveSync support that enabled devices to sync with the PC over ethernet, and that feature was removed.

DB:2.53:Connected, But Cannot Verify Version Of Activesync On The Ppc. As 4.5. Wm6. k8

Yesterday without any cause I can identify the ActiveSync partnership between XP SP2 plus patches laptop and WM 6 Classic device stopped working. After successful initial stuff, got "Active Sync cannot be completed." Treated device as a "guest."

Uninstalled and reinstalled ActiveSync. ActiveSync on the laptop goes into "Connected" status but message comes up saying unable to verify the ActiveSync version of the device. It mentioned firewall as a possible culprit so I turned off the XP firewall. No
change. Local Area Network connection is there for "Windows Mobile Device #4" at 10 Mbs, it is connected. Only one device has ever sync'd with this laptop. Attempt to explore the device gets an empty explorer window for "Mobile Device." Attempt at add/remove
software gets a "can't retrieve software info from the device."

All ActiveSync stuff is via USB cable.

Anyhow, my working hypothesis is that the ActiveSync on the device is dented or broken. I have wi-fi access from the device to the world.

    1) Is there any useful diagnostic info I can collect on the device, using tools that already exist there?

    2) Is there any way I can download the device side of ActiveSync directly to the device via wi-fi to do a reinstall from the device side? Any other device-and-web repair strategies?

    3) Is there any possible benefit in trying to sync via Bluetooth? I tried this before, when things in general were fine, and couldn't get it to work.

    4) I suppose I can try to sync with another laptop.

    5) Any other things I can do before doing a hard reset of the device? No, I don't have backups beyond what ActiveSync and individual software products provide.

Our installation process is corruptingone of thefile being installedand we can't figure this out. Does anyone have an pointers? Our application comprises of a Setup.exe file that is 63,026kb. This setup installs several files including a 62,264kb data file which contains all the data for the app. When we install the application to the 128meg SDCard this large file is getting corrupted. Here is what we know thus far. This problem happens in PocketPC 2003 but this does not happen on Windows Mobility 5.0 We cannot duplicate this problem with 1 Meg SD Cards. We have tested this with ActiveSync 4.0 (build 4343) and ActiveSync 3.8 We are using EzSetup the latest version for the installation. We can replicate this problem on every 128meg card (tested 4 of them ) Any ideas?

Thank you Sriram,We finally pin this problem down to the Microsoft Installer. It looks like during installation of the cab file, we get dangerously close to 128 mb. Since the cab isdownloaded to the SD card first taking up 63+ megs and then installed. When I made our large 63+ megs files a little smaller to 62+ megs everything worked fine. So something seems to not be taken care of properly if we run out of space on the 128 card. That was our best guess.
