    I have an application where a user fills out a form, submits it to a kind of store locator, where we show a default store. The user can then, on that same page, search for a new store, and the results are displayed, on that same page. The issue I have is if a user searched for a new store, the results are shown, and they hit the browser back button, the default store is shown, but if they select that default store, the actual store they end up selecting is the first store from when they searched for a new store. How can I get this to work, so if they hit the browser back button, and select the default store, the default store is actually the one selected?

    Thanks!

    I vaguely remember misbehaviours like this in the ancient JSF versions which were shipped along with the IBM IDE's some years ago.

    Which JSF impl/version exactly are you using? Which appserver impl/version exactly are you using?

    Try upgrading as far as possible to see if that fixs the problem. Most recent versions of the Sun JSF impl can be found here: [http://javaserverfaces.dev.java.net].

    any one can guide me in details what is service locator concept ? it would be very useful if some one can redirect me to right article for service locator and its usage in our life.
    when people use service locator ?
    what is the purpose of service locator ?
    if possible please explain it with sample code. thanks

    DB:2.35:What Is Service Locator sa

    Hi,
    As per my knowledge, Service Locator is a common design pattern which allows decoupling clients of services (described by a public interface) from the concrete class implementing those services.

    Use the Service Locator pattern to achieve any of the following objectives:

    You want to decouple your classes from their dependencies so that these dependencies can be replaced or updated with little or no change to the classes.You want to write logic that depends on classes whose concrete implementation is not known at compile time.You want to be able to test your classes in isolation, without the dependencies.You do not want the logic that locates and manages the dependencies to be in your classes.You want to divide your application into loosely coupled modules that can be independently developed, tested, versioned, and deployed.

    I would suggest you take a look at below articles for detail information and samples.

    likely cause.

    the import parameter I_AUFNR is of type AUFNR (data elemtn) which has got alpha conversion.

    before calling the function module call the following fm

    input should be whatever value u pass and for output use the following variable.

    data: my_aufnr type caufvd-aufnr .

    CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT

    now use my_aufnr in your FM for I_AUFNR.

    Not very neat but you can try this

    ?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX, a, 0)?
    ?for-each:objective-sect?
    Table
    ?for-each:fm-objective?
    ?for-each:fm-obj-prop-key?
    ?.?- ?position()?
    ?if:.=weight??xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX, a, position())??end if?
    ?end for-each?
    ?fm-obj-name? -- ?fm-obj-prop-value[position()=xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX, a)]?
    ?end for-each?
    ?end for-each?

    Well ... I hope you dont have another twist after this..... :)

    DB:2.28:What's Wrong In Starting Locator Inside Cache Server? 89

    Hello All!I want to start locator inside cache server. I have found a property "start-locator" and used it for my purposes. Code:Cache cache = cacheFactory.set("cache-xml-file", "server.xml").set("mcast-port", "0").set("locators", "localhost[" + LOCATOR_PORT + "]").set("start-locator", "localhost[10355]").create();But when I try to communicate with such cache server using client, I get exception "NoAvailableServersException". If I start one more cache server, than both these servers communicate correctly. And newly started client connect to the second cache server and works throw it. It seems that the first server (with embedded locator) doesn't accept client connections, despite the fact that a GFMon shows that this cache server can accept clients. What do you think about this behavior?

    DB:2.28:What's Wrong In Starting Locator Inside Cache Server? 89

    It looks like you found a legit bug in the product. I was first reported about 5 months ago and assigned the internal tracking number #42528 with the title "Locator embedded with CacheServer does not see the CacheServer".Your only option at this point is to have the locator in another process. I'll let you know if a workaround is found.

    DB:2.28:Fm For Picking In Vl02n pc

    Hi

    I have found FM SD_DELIVERY_UPDATE_PICKING which I will use for full-fill the picking.

    The delivery has 2 batch lines for the delivery-line.

    The delivery looks like this:

    Item - Deliv.quant - OpenQant - PickQuant

    10 - - 1000 -

    900001 - 995 - 0 - 995

    900002 - 5 - 0 - 5

    How do I fullfill the FM SD_DELIVERY_UPDATE_PICKING so I make picking for the 2 lines on the batch (995 pcs and 5 pcs)?

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply.

    Then click on the Telstra Bubble for the store you’d like to contact:

    You can then click on View Details or Make an appointment:

    Not sure how to get there? Enter your address and click on and you’ll be able to see how far away it is, and the best route to take, whether it be by car, public transport, bike or on foot…

    You'll also notice that:

    Company owned Telstra stores will have a direct 1800 phone number.
    Telstra Licensed Store (TLS) have a star after the suburb – these stores don’t have a dedicated 1800 number
    Stores are rated for customer service on a scale out of five.

    I seriously doubt that the Droid X even has hardware capable of tuning to 121.5 MHz, so there's likely no possibility of an app adding that capability.

    If Internet access is available, you can use postal code K2K1J5 to search for sample stores.X
    Is this the code you used?
    I tried in just now with the Feb 2011 evaluation vpc and it worked fine.
    If I disconnect my network cable, I can force the error you mention. Are you sure you have internet access from within your vpc? Perhaps a firewall is blocking access.

    Hi,

    I need to deploy a FM application thru FM Go on iOS devices.

    The application needs to check for stocks and if stocks are available, booked the unit and print out receipt.

    Questions

    1. Can FM Go be setup such that it will always check for stock availability (online) to the FM Server and if stocks are available, confirmed, booked and print receipt?

    2. Does the FM Go store any data on the iOS devices? It will be good if the user can check for his confirmed order while offline

    3. FM Server can support upto 250 client, I suppose each FM Go is one client connection?

    4. Based on the maximum 250 users, can we stick with one server setup or preferably to multi server setup?

    5. Is it recommended to go for enterprise DB such as MSSQL for the backend or stick to FM Server DB?

    Thanks Guys!

    DB:2.26:Filemaker Go And Filemaker Server 98

    FileMaker Server Advanced does not have the 250 user limit. There is no upper limit but performance will determine how many users can realistically connect to the server at one time.

    DB:2.26:Need To Create Store Locator f9

    Hello -
    I've seen code for store locator equations but everythingseems to beas the bird flies.

    Can someone point me in the right direction of how to write a store locator so it more realistically gives the user a distance that is relative to the actual path they will travel?
    Seems to me that because so many websites have store locators, it should be relatively easy to find, but somehow I'm not finding it.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Juniormint10,
    SQL Server is only used to store data, regarding your question, it is more likelyabouthow to build a system whichcan calculate objectdistance. There is a similar question on the following link, you can refer to the method:

    DB:2.25:Searching For An App - Iphone Locator c3

    I remember reading an article about an application that locates your iPhone by ringing loudly, even if you have it on silent, and can be activated through your computer.

    I have tried searching iPhone locator in the Apps store, which shows various apps that email you if your phone has been stolen, trying to track it using the GPS etc, but none that find your phone when it's lost in your house!

    Anyone aware of the name of this application?

    Cheers,

    DB:2.25:Fm Wired Remote For Muvo^2 Fm 5.0 Gb z8

    Hi, sorry if this post has been posted before, but I was just wondering if the FM Wired Remote is able to be used with the Muvo^2 FM 5.0 GB. I remember seeing a post before that this wasn't at all possible, and the functionalities of the FM Wired Remote would be the same as the regular remote bundled with the pack.

    However, I went into a store yesterday, and the guy behind the counter said that it WOULD work for the Muvo^2 FM if I 'updated the software'. He said something along these lines. Was he lying?
    Oh, also, will Creative ever release firmware upgrades so that the FM Wired Remote can be used with the Muvo^2 FM? Or is this just not possible?

    Thanks very much...

    Thanks for your patience in getting this done.

    To close this thread and for reference to others, here are the core points (Markl any comments on this summary?).

    1, get 11gR2 (latest release)

    2, register your schema

    3, create a sample table of the type that you want

    4, get the metadata from 11g

    5, clean up the schema (remove just about everything other than the varray as nested table)

    6, be on at least 10.2.0.3

    7, registert the schema

    6, create the table using the cleaned up DDL from 11g

    7, map and use the goodness of the underlying relational tables (no more pickler to kill you).

    Have fun people.

    Regards

    Keith

    We’re creating a store locator based on virtual earth but we have some problems with Swedish address.
    Virtual earth almost never returns useful information for Sweden.

    For example, search on sveavägen 17, Stockholm, Sweden

    any help would be appreciated

    DB:2.24:Defaulting Of Subinventory / Locator k9

    Hi

    We have configured Subinventory as locator controlled. I need inputs on below scenarios -

    Can we default Subinventory and Locator at the time of PO Receipt. My understanding is SubInventory can be defaulted by maintaining subinventory at Item - Org in Item Master / Subinventory on PO Line / Transaction default. Is there any alternate option?

    Locator is dynamically controlled and the user can give the locator at the time of PO Receipt. Locator can be given in Item Transaction Default screen but as we have millions of items so the process will become very cumbersome. Is there any good alternative to default the Locator at the time of PO Receipt.

    For drop ship orders, users would not like to enter the subinventory and locator for each line. Subinventory can be defaulted but how to default a single value of locator for multiple lines at the time of PO Receipt.

    Pl share your thoughts!

    Thanks!
    Rajeev

    DB:2.24:Defaulting Of Subinventory / Locator k9

    Rajeev, you should create a new subinventory (say Dropship) and receive drop ship POs in that subinventory.
    You should make it non-locator controlled.

    Hope this helps,

    Guys,

    Thanks a ton!

    DB:2.24:Zip Code Locator / Store Locator mx

    Hey there. I am a junior programmer with Bsd in educational technologies and I.T and this is my firt post on the forums. We had the same problem on a website project and the best solution we could think was to implement a GIS API library and then get the needed information from the GIS querys. the problem is that for global coverage you need to have a good GIS provider (think of it as Google Earth without the graphics). Bottom line, this is my opinion on how you should approach this. We used the "periods" approach (client : "We want that feature as well", team leader :"It would be nice if someone did implement that feature, but it won't be us.") on the other hand we were just 3 students building our first website.

    DB:2.24:Conceptual Question Cacheserver,Locator, Mcast jp

    Eventhough the documentation is elaborate, it doesn't explain lots of things. What is the cacheserver for. I have a Server cache running using mcast. So I am assuming you would give a non zero mcast-port property and a mcast-address. Now I need to start an agent using the same mcast settings. Then I can see the server cache data member using GFMon. So the agent knows to contact the server region to get the stats using mcast. Is this right. In this scenario we don't need a cache server at all???Now I create a program to connect to the server cache region. That gemfire client needs to have similiar gemfire properties for mcast port and address. SO again it gets data propagates using UDP mcast. Is that right?What happens if I use mcast-port=0. Then I need a locator. So the locator brokers the data propagation between members? Is that right. Now how do I get the GFMon connected to the server region? Again do we need a cache server here? Overall why is there a cacheserver since we could have the members in the distributed system talk to each other using MCast. I am so confused. Expecting a good explanation so I might not have to bother the forums moderators again :).As well why would one use locator instead of using mcast? When you have a locator locators=localhost[12500], is mcast-address property used?

    DB:2.24:Conceptual Question Cacheserver,Locator, Mcast jp

    Gemfire peers discover each other through mcast. Once they've found each other, the communication happens through TCP sockets. Using a locator is just a different way for gemfire members to discover each other without having to use mcast. Some people have trouble with using mcast in their networks. Gemfire peers are completely interconnected, by which I mean that any peer can communicate directly with any other peer. If you have a lot of VMs which need to access the cache, gemfire also supports the notion of cache clients, which only connect to a few peers. We call those peers cache servers, and they listen on a separate TCP port for client connections. The cache servers then may forward requests on to other peers in the distributed system.I'm not sure if that's what you mean to cache server. Some people also start peers using the cacheserver script which do nothing but store data.

    In the Mapviewer users guide a reference (section 2.2.2) is made to the Oracle spatial users guide for oriented points so that labels and markers are rotated. But I cannot find the information about how to store oriented points in Oracle Spatial. Is it available in Oracle Locator 9.2?

    DB:2.23:Oriented Points Spatial / Mapviewer s9

    You can still do it...

    One of the addPointFeature() methods in the Java api lets you set orientation parameters, which will be used by mapviewer server to rotate a marker style associated with that feature.

    Pls check section 2.2.2 of the preview MapViewer 10.1.2 User's Guide if you are not sure how to specify those parameters.

    DB:2.22:Location Issue When Logging Into A Store Site 7p

    When I log into a store site (Walmart, Lowe's, etc), using my iBook G4, the store locator thinks I am up in Maine, so I change the locator to my home town. And the next time I log in, I am back to the Maine location. Is there a system profile item or cookie for location? I don't recall taking the laptop up to Maine on vacation or looking for items in stock in stores in Maine...... very odd.

    DB:2.22:Location Issue When Logging Into A Store Site 7p

    Hey Knucklesmac: You nailed it... I went to the web search for instructions and found out why the address comes up as Maine: the RoadRunner host name's web address says "maine.res.rr.com" and is located in Windom ME. Hence the stores in that locale show up as my local stores. The website I went to (WhatIsMyIPAddress.com) also suggested at ways to adjust the address but I am not going there just yet. I'll read up more on the subject, and try it later. But now I know why I keep ending up in Maine! Thanks for your help/

    I am currently researching the possibility of creating a store locator with htmldb. Meaning that a client could pop in a zipcode and ask for any store within x number of miles and it will pop them up. Any ideas?? Can it be done?

    Jose,

    you don't have to use external web-services for that, it's all in the Oracle database! :-)

    Have a look at

    http://htmldb-de.blogspot.com/2007/03/karten-in-apex-how-tos.html

    which is an overview of several Spatial/GIS/Maps related postings done by Carsten Czarski of Oracle Germany. The package SDO_GEOM eg. (SDO_GEOM.SDO_DISTANCE) does the trick to calculate distances, ...

    The above postings are in German, but you can use a translation service like http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en to get an idea how to solve it.

    DB:2.22:Design Question For Store Locator a8

    Hi,

    We have store data for store locator will be loaded into pipleline like below. the requirement is that the Endeca shoulld allow to search either by store infor or service info or holiday info to get the specifi store. The number of holidays/services a store have is vary based on different store. We are trying to split the data into store_data, holiday_data and service_data, and then use left join to link them based on store number. But this will create many duplicated information for a store. For example, if a store have 10 holidays and 10 services, it will create 100 records for that store. Does anyone has better solution for our case?

    1.A record exists for each store, with the following attributes:
    1.Store Number
    2.Store Name
    3.Latitude / longitude
    4.Store Photos
    5.Store Address
    Main Intersection
    City
    Province
    Postal Code

    6.Holiday
    1. Holiday Name
    Open / Closed flag
    Open Time
    Close Time

    2. Holiday Name
    Open / Closed flag
    Open Time
    Close Time

    3. Holiday Name
    Open / Closed flag
    Open Time
    Close Time

    4. .....(How many holidays the store have is vary based on different store.)

    7.In-Store Services
    1.Service Type
    Service Phone Number
    service name
    Service Regular Hours

    2.Service Type
    Service Phone Number
    service name
    Service Regular Hours

    3. Service Type
    Service Phone Number
    service name
    Service Regular Hours

    4.......(How many holidays the store have is vary based on different store.)

    Thanks,

    Bruce

    DB:2.22:Design Question For Store Locator a8

    I don't think there is a straight way to get this done as you except unless you do any sort of record manipulation. There is combine records option in record cache but I'm not sure how much it will help - given the data model.

    Can anyone recommend an easy solution (or tutorials,

    Are there any third party solutions or PHP scripts for

    Hi,I have a requirement to build a store locator for a public facing web site.There will be less than 50 stores and users will be able to search by zip code and store type within a specified radius. The results will be displayed on a map with markers and information windows that contain information about the store.I will be storing the store information (name, address, lat, lon, store type etc) in a SQL Server database. I am currently considering my solution options and am looking for some advice on the following:

    Google Maps versus Live Maps? Why is Live a better choice? :-)
    Will SQL Server 2008 help with the spatial search?
    Licensing considerations
    Are there any good examples out there that I can use as a starting point?
    Thanks.

    Define Put Away Rule #1: Store by Sales Order.

    If receiving items as part of a Sales Order:
    1) find if any current items have been received for the sales order
    2) determine if the locator can hold the items being received
    3) if the locator is to small for storing the additional new items, find the closest empty locator

    If you're unable to hack the Linux stuff to run on MAC properly, you're SOL if you're wanting to use JMF.

    You probably either need to try to use FML (Freedom for Media in Linux), which is a drop-in replacement for JMF (IE, you just compile against its libraries jars instead of the JMF ones), or switch to Quicktime for Java or Adobe Flex...

    Hi All,

    Is there a API or Open Interface to define the Default Receiving Locator for an Item at Org Level?

    We are trying to Mass Upload the Default Receiving Locator for a bunch of exisiting items.

    For Defaulting Receiving Subinventory for an Item, we used "INV_ITEM_SUB_DEFAULT_PKG.INSERT_UPD_ITEM_SUB_DEFAULTS", is there any similar kind of API for defaulting locator?

    Thanks Regards,

    Thank you. Seems like there is no API or Open Interface yet for this. Last option would be direct insert as you suggested.

    DB:2.21:Restricting One Locator To One Item af

    Hi all,

    How to restrict one locator to particularly to one item.

    The functionality available in oracle is

    Restrict locator and restrict subinventories in the item master -- inventory tab.
    This will restrict you to transact that item to only that assigned locator and subinventory but we can store other items in that locator and subinventory.

    But i don't want other items to be placed in that locator and subinventory.

    How will achieve this............

    Regards,
    K.Kumar

    DB:2.21:Restricting One Locator To One Item af

    Hi,

    Locator means a Place where in you can store any items. In your case, If you want to store for example Item A in location L1 (I mean Sub inv+ locator), then you need to restrict this item with locator control - Pre specified. Suppose, the Item B (it is not locator control controlled), which means you are having freedom to store anywhere.(in such a case you can store this item in location L1 iteself.
    By logic it is correct. If you want to implement your requirements, then you need to designate all the items as locator control and where ever you really do not want to use locator control , you have to assign a dummy value, so that such items will hold informtion with dummy locator. But user can not be stored other than this as their wish.

    thanks.

    Hi,

    I have a problem with retrieving geocode information from Locator. This way the reeverse geocode data is retrieved properly.
    public void run() {
    AddressInfo addrInfo = null;
    int latitude = 5586548;
    int longitude = -425671;
    try {
    Landmark[] results = Locator.reverseGeocode(latitude,
    longitude, Locator.ADDRESS);
    if (results != null results.length 0) {
    addrInfo = results[0].getAddressInfo();
    caller.callback(addrInfo);
    }
    } catch (LocatorException lex) {
    lex.printStackTrace();
    }
    }

    But when I try to call the Locator for geocode based on searchTearm something fails, and I have no idea why. There are no exceptions thrown, no stack traces are printed.
    public void run() {
    try {
    Landmark[] results = Locator.geocode("Glasgow", null);
    if (results != null results.length 0) {
    caller.callback(results);
    Locator.cancel();
    }
    } catch (LocatorException lex) {
    lex.printStackTrace();
    }
    }

    Can anyone help me with that ?

    P.S.

    I'm using the 5.0 API

    DB:2.21:Locator Geocoder Doesn't Work x7

    This code will not actually do anything, as a Stack Trace is actually only produced when you catch hrowable

    } catch (LocatorException lex) {lex.printStackTrace();}

    So replace the above with this:

    } catch (Throwable t) {t.printStackTrace();}

    Let us know if this gives you more information.

    I have a CALS format table that I cannot get alignment to work properly. I have the attributes for the table defined and handled in the R/W rules file (posted below). I have code in the EDD to look at the TGROUP tag align attribute and to apply an initial table format appropriate to the attribute (also posted below). There are 3 test conditions for left/center and right attribute values, then an else on the off chance that the attribute is not specified. The system always chooses the ELSE condition regardless of the value of the align attribute. I have tried different cases on the attribute value and I have tried different quotes on in the EDD around the attribute value. Nothing works. It seems like this should be simple. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

    When you change the value of align, there is nothing preventing you from also applying the corresponding format to the table, using the table designer. It is still manual, but does not require you to close and reopen the file to get it done. IF the user forgets to change the table format or changes it to the wrong format, all will be corrected when the file is saved and opened later.

    DB:2.20:Improved Store Locator Map - Best Buy: Unboxed 7x

    Lets look at my current use case:

    I'm at the office, have some place to get to, and in between here and there, I'd like to visit a Best Buy to pick up something.

    When I go to the store locator, I get a list of stores - I can't visually see where they are, on a map, with respect to where I am or where I might want to go (like I should be making a special trip to Best Buy that doesn't consider anything else).

    It would be more convenient if I could see them plotted on a Google Map, with the list of stores on the right, and with the individual pins also having options for extra info - in my case: Call This Store.

    Why would Call This Store be helpful? Because I want to see if they have the item I want.

    What would be better? An item search to the left of the maps, that can let me put in one or more items, and see which stores carry any or all of them, so I can pick which one works best for me. That would be cool and convenient.

    [---------------- LOCATION SEARCH --------------] [GO]

    [ITEM SEARCH] [GO]

    [-------LIST------] [---------------------------- MAP -----------------------------] [------STORE LIST-------]

    Item #1 [BB HAS ITEM] Store #1

    Item #2 CALL ...

    Item #3

    Item #4 [[BB DOESN'T HAVE ITEM]

    ...........................................

    ... Something like that. Make trip planning more convenient.

    DB:2.20:Improved Store Locator Map - Best Buy: Unboxed 7x

    Yea a shopping list based pick up in store would be the bees knees. You load up your cart with your items, then select "Pick up in store" and rather than doing it by line item it shows you the nearest 3-5 stores with those items, ordered by the % of your total sale in each. I.E. If I had a larger purchase item the list would assign a higher value to a store having that item. So, if I was buying a TV, Blu Ray player, and some cords, if a store showed the TV and the player, but not the cables, it would jump to the top of the list based on my primary purchase being in stock.

    Or % of total items if not of total purchase.

    hmmm, i got this exact question in mail today. someone is double-dipping!

    Both Locator and Spatial allow storage of three point circular arcs. Circular arcs are only supported in non-geodetic coordinate systems.

    In Oracle 10g Release 2 both Locator and Spatial include a function called sdo_util.point_at_bearing. If you enter a point, a distance, and a bearing (in radians) we return the end point. With the end point and the original input point a line segment can be contructed very easily.

    DB:2.20:Locator Startup 9z

    I am struggling a bit to get the locator started. I am running Gemfire 601 on Windows. I issue the following command on a fresh installation:gemfire start-locatorI get the following error:Quote:'" true true "' is not a valid IP address for this machine[info 2010/06/03 14:33:18.838 EDT Thread-0 tid=0x9] Locator stoppedI've tried passing the -address parameter in on startup without success. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.Brian

    Dave,Thanks for the response. The issue was related to running Windows 7 (64 bit) with a 64 bit Sun JVM. Your support team recommended a few options, one of which was to use a 32 bit JVM. Since this is for my local development environment, this was a perfectly acceptable workaround since Windows 7 isn't officially supported by Gemfire yet.- Brian

    Can anyone recommend a good tutorial for setting up a restaurant locator using Google maps and AS3?

    Thanks!

    Google maps was deprecated for flash , as3.0 Instead of Google maps you can use Map quest works same as Google maps
