Hi, We have the below scenario: Microsoft AD 2003 and Microsoft Exchange 2003 are intergraded with OIM 11g using 9.x version of AD and exchange connector. Now we are performing upgrade activity for Exchange 2003 and, Microsoft exchange 2010 has been installed in a different server. As the Microsoft exchange is installed in the different server we are planning to have different IT resource in OIM for the Exchange 2010 Now we have below questions: 1. Do we need to configure different remote manager for Exchange 2010 or same remote manager can be used for AD 2003 and Exchange 2010? 2. Does the remote manager need to be installed in both the servers (Ad 2003 and Exchange 2010)?

Wha, so I guess e2K cluster supports UNITY VM only, right? We are going to propose this to customer.

If with active/active, there are two active virtual servers, which one I should be partner defined in unity? I have installed active/passive cluster before the virtual one will always be the active one. It's easy to understand and define it in unity.

    1. Drop the existing OIM Schema (DEV_OIM, DEV_SOAINFRA,DEV_ORASDPM) except DEV_MDS and DEV_OPSS as I guess they are being used by OAM also.

    2. Create the OIM Schema (DEV_OIM, DEV_SOAINFRA DEV_ORASDPM).

    Hi All,
I am trying to provision to AD 2003 and Exchange 2003 (both on same box) using OIM ver 9.1.

Provisioning between (OIM AD) is successful when SSL is set to false but password in AD goes as blank even we are providing it from OIM side.

When i enable SSL on AD i am getting an error that No Trusted Certificate entry found however we are able to see the trusted certificate entry in cacerts in the JDK version OIM is using.

In documentation it is mentioned that 128 bit certificate has to be used but we are not able to generate. Is this the problem?

Also in the documentation it is mentioned that to install the Exchange connector AD should be configured on SSL and password cannot be updated without SSL on AD. Is this true or i am missing something?
To configure SSL on AD i followed the document of connector pack 9.0.4.1.

Kindly provide some pointer as i stuck on this issue from many days. I will be very thankful to you.

DB:2.80:Cas Coexistence And Muliple Internet Facing Sites 98

    Hi there,
    I have following scenerio.
Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010 coexistence.
Two internet facing sites (FE-BE)in Exchange 2003 with 2 namespaces. Let's name them,
    Site A - Exchange 2003 FE/BE - webmail.contoso.com
    Site B - Exchange 2003 FE/BE -Webmail.us.contoso.com
Exchange 2010 will be build in a third internet facing site, for the puspose of consolidation. We also want a new namespace for the new Exchange setup. So,
    Site C - Exchange 2010 - mail.constoso.com
Now, to setup CAS coexistence and to ensure seamless transition, I have planned following.
    1. Decided to migrate Site A first and then move to Site B.
    2. Create a new A record (mail.constoso.com)in DNS and point it to Exchange 2010 CAS (load balanced with HW load balancer).
    3. Create a legacy hostname in DNS, may be E2k3.contoso.com and point to Site A - FE.
    4. Configure Exchange 2010 virtual directories with External URL - mail.contoso.com and Exchange 2003 URL - E2k3.contoso.com.
    5. Change the webmail.constoso.com to point to Exchange 2010 CAS.
    6. Have a SAN certificate to support all these names on both Exchange 2010 CASand Exchange 2003 FE.
    7. Enable integrated authentication on the virtual directories of Exchange 2003 servers.
    8. Perform migration for Site A.
    9. Once migration for Site A is completed, point E2k3.constoso.com to Site B-FE.

    10. Point webmail.us.contoso.com to Exchange 2010 CAS.
    11. Perform the migration of Site B.
Any suggestion or ideas on above approach or any better option?
Will I be achieving a seamless tranistion (using proxying/edirection) by following above steps?
Any issue foresee in this approach with Outlook Anywhwhere (RPC/HTTPS), OWA, Activesync, EWS, Autodiscover?
    Many thanks in advance!

Without a frond-End server, you can finish the upgrade from Exchange 2003 to 2010. But a frond-End server is required to enable FBA,which enables the Outlook Web Access logon page.

    Hello all:
I have an Exchange 2003 Exchange 2010 mixed environment, with FPE 2010 in the Exchange 2010 HUBs with the Content Filter enable. Its
    a pilot of our migration.
If I use an IMAP client (Outlook Express), using the SMTP virtual server of Exchange 2003 (and authenticating) as outgoing server many
legitimate messages get a SCL score of 5 or even 9, so they end in the Junk Mail folder of the Exchange 2010 users (Ive got the Junk Folder threshold set to 4).
The header I get says that, as an internal message it gets a MessageSecurityAntispamBypass, but the SCL is 5.
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL: 5
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthSource: D-CAS01.unican.es
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthAs: Internal
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthMechanism: 0b
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-Antispam-Report: MessageSecurityAntispamBypass
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AVStamp-Mailbox: MSFTFF;1;0;0 0 0
As expected the very same message sent from Outlook MAPI or OWA 2003 gets a SCL:-1 (all authenticated messages should get -1 as far as
    I Know)
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL: -1
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthSource: XXXX.YYYY.es
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthAs: Internal
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthMechanism: 0b
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-Antispam-Report: MessageSecurityAntispamBypass
    X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AVStamp-Mailbox: MSFTFF;1;0;0 0 0
Even if I send the same message from a Hotmail account I get a SCL score of -1.
The same message sent with an IMAP client using an Exchange 2010 SMTP Client Connector gets a SCL score of -1, as expected.
    Any ideas?
Is there anything I have to configure in order to get a score of -1 for authenticated messages sent from Exchange 2003 SMTP Virtual
    Server?
    Thanks

DB:2.73:Messages Sent From Exchange In Mixed Enviromento Dont Get Scl:-1 p3

An ugly workaround for this: The 2K3 bridgehead is putting a SCL header in the e-mail and FPE is blindly accepting that header. You can add a hub transport rule in E2010, if the incoming e-mail has a SCL score then remove header X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL.
FPE will receive the original e-mail and process it as it should.

If you remove the E2K3 bridgehead in the future you should also remove this kludge.

Those two jars were included in the older version of the connector when it was written in Java. The current connector is now implemented in .NET, and per the instructions in 2.1.3 of the documentation you have to configure a Connector Server in a .NET Framework 3.5 or above.

    I hope this helps out.

    DB:2.72:Migracion De Exchange 17

    Buenos dias

DB:2.71:Java Versions For Oim Install mp

    Hi,

Last time when I installed OIM, everything worked fine, but I was unable to open the workflow manager applet. I think maybe I used the wrong JRE/JDK. Please read below the environment I am using and suggest which Jave version should be used.

    OS: Windows 2003 Server
    Browser: IE
    OIM: 9.1
    Application Server: Weblogic (latest version)

    1. Installing Oracle Weblogic, which JRE to use?
a 1.6 Sun Java already shipped with Weblogic
b 1.6 Oracle JRockit shipped with Weblogic
    c any other Java version

    2. Installing OIM Server, in the screen where it asks for Application server information, in the field where it asks the JDK used for application server install, which one to use?
a The one I choose above in 1
b any other Java version (1.4.2_12 or _15 or something else)

    3. Installing OIM client, when it asks for JRE to use with design console, which Java to use?
a Install JRE bundled with OIM
b JDK 1.4.2_12 or _15 or any other Java version

    4. Now, when I use the OIM, what should be the Java version that my browser should be configured to launch the Workflow Manager applet?

    Thanks in advance.

The release notes for your oim version contains information about what JRE versions are supported.

    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/idm_certification_101401.html#BABGBGHI

Sun JDK 1.6.0_10 or higher JRockit 1.6.0_05 or higher seems to be what you are looking for.

    DB:2.70:Exchange 2003 To 2007 Migration Problems km

Hi, we are finalizing our migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007, but we now we are encountering some issues that prevent us from moving foward by removing the last Exchange 2003 server. Exchange 2007 setup went fine, mail flow works in every direction and we have no problems at the moment. Here's our setup: 1x Exchange 2003 1x Exchange 2007 with HT, MB and CAS. No edge servers. All mailboxes are on Exchange 2007 Mail from the internet is delivered to a postfix server which then forwards it to Exchange 2007 Mail to the internet is sent through our Exchagne 2003 to the postfix server (which we want to change) Exchange 2003 has 3 SMTP connectors + the default Routing Group Conncetor 1st and 2nd connectors are domain specific and has the cost of 11 3rd connectors address space is * and it has a cost of 12 All SMTP connectors route mail to the postfix and are set to Entire Organization Issue #1: Now the issue is that we need to start sending the mail from our Exchange 2007 server, instead of routing it first to our Exchange 2003. I created a new Send Connector to Exchange 2007 with a address space of * and cost of 1. I set the smart host to our postfix server. But the mail is still routed through the Exchange 2003 server and I can't figure out why. I tried this yesterday for the first time and a bit later the mail flow stopped entirely. It was just piling up in the Exchange 2007s queue with the error A local loop was detected. Now I created the new connector again and after 40minutes the mails start queueing up again :( So what's the right way to migrate the SMTP connectors so that I can send the mail without the Exchange 2003 server? Do I have to re-create all the 3 SMTP connectors in the Exchange 2007 and remove the old 3 or can they work simultaneously? Email messages source is the following: Received: from OurPostfix ([x.x.x.x]) by col0-mc3-f8.Col0.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.3959); Fri, 9 Oct 2009 00:58:58 -0700 Received: from exchange2003.domani.local (unknown [x.x.x.x]) by OurPostfix (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5FEBBF38D2 for xxxx; Fri, 9 Oct 2009 10:58:56 +0300 (EEST) Received: from Exchange2007.domain.local ([x.x.x.x]) by Exchange2003.domain.local with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.1830); Fri, 9 Oct 2009 10:58:56 +0300 Received: from Exchange2007.domain.local ([x.x.x.x]) by Exchange2007 ([x.x.x.x]) with mapi; Fri, 9 Oct 2009 10:58:56 +0300 Another weird issue is that neither receive or send smtp connectors log anything, even though they are set to verbose. Edit: Ok, there really is a loop, but i dont know why. I checked the message tracking and it was bouncing back my message few times untill it got tired doing so.. It's boucing the messages back and forth the exchange servers and connector IDs are Intra-Organization SMTP Send Connector and SERVER\Defaul SERVER -connectors.. Issue #2: I moved OAB to the new server and ran the Move All Replicas -command from ESM, but there are 5 folder instances that wont move (I've waited 24h). The folders are the following: exchange v1 (replication status: Local modified) OAB Version 2 (replication status: Both modified) OAB Version 3a (replication status: Both modified) OAB Version 4 (replication status: Both modified) Schedule+Free Busy Information - First Administrative Group (replication status: Both modified) Replication status also show Public Folder Hierarchy (Local Modified) and System Configuration (Local Modified) How do I get rid of the last public folder instances? Thanks, Petrus

    DB:2.70:Exchange 2003 To 2007 Migration Problems km

I resolved issue #1. I created the new internet smarthost connector with cost 1 and restarted exchange transport service, it started working immediately after that. Issue #2 was resolved on its own after few days. I ran the move all replicas command too.

    1) Exported all UDF's using deployment manager in OIM 9.x. Saved this file into a folder structure file/User.xml.
    2) Imported this file into OIM11g using weblogicimport utility (Changed weblogic properties correctly).
    3) Ran Purgecache
    4) Restarted the server

Still I am not able to view my UDF's in OIM 11g. Please advice.

Create one UDF in OIM 11g and export it. Now modify this xml and add all other 9i UDFs in this xml (in the same format as exported 11g UDF). and Import this modified XML in OIM 11g. This should work and save your some time.

    DB:2.68:Exchange 2010 And 2003 Co-Existance Journal Duplicates Occasionally xz

I have an Exchange 2010 and an Exchange 2003 server. On each server I have a seperate message databases for just the journaling mailboxes.
On the Exchange 2010 server I do not yet have any mailboxes except for 1 test mailbox. And on that journaling to it's mailbox appears to be working using a Hub Trasport rule. Of course, there is no real demand on this server yet.
On Exchange 2003 I have 9 information stores (besides the one set aside for journaling). And, we are set up for Envelope Journaling.
    My problem is:
On the Exchange 2003 box we get the proper Envelope Journaled message 100% of the time. But, about 20% of the time I get a second message that looks more like a copy of the message along with the Envelope Journaled message. That results in about
3000 messages a day of junk that needs to be removed from the journaling mailbox.
This only happens on the Exchange 2003 server and the bad messages may have a single recipient, or a distribution list, and they have a from of both internal and external sources. In other words, no real pattern.
I have turned off journaling on all but one information store and I still get the same results.

    DB:2.68:Exchange 2010 And 2003 Co-Existance Journal Duplicates Occasionally xz

    OK. New details.
The duplicate journal messages that are not in the right format (envelope journaled) are comong from the Exchange 2003 Front End server.
I confirmed there are no mailboxes on the front end server and that journaling for the 1 information store is not turned on. But yet I still get the bad messages.
Locating the problem was by luck. I had to turn off the OWA/Front End server for 1 hour and during that entire hour I only had proper enveloped journaled email for all other mail that was flowing.
So, does anyone know how to stop the front end server from doing any journaling, especialy since all the mail is passed off to the backend server to do it?

    DB:2.68:Copying Mailboxes From Exchange 2003 To Exchange 2010 m7

I recently virtualized my old sbs 2003 server and began a migration in Hyper-v from Win 2003/Exchange 2003 toWin 2008/Exchange 2010. I had some issues and aborted the migration but have since, one week later, completed it at home. The office is still
running Win 2003/Exchange 2003 and I am thinking of copying the current Exchange 2003 mailboxes and importing them into Exchange 2010, powering down our sbs 2003 server and plugging the new server (in Hyper-v) into our network. I have two concerns.
    1) Will a one week old version of Active directory create a problem when introduced into my network? We only have 9 workstations and no other servers. I have not made any changes to AD in the past week.
    2) If I can proceed with question one and install the new server how would I get the data from the current Exchange 2003 mailboxes into the new Exhange 2010 server which already contains mail from last week? Exmerge? some other tool?
If none of the above are options I will have to start from scratch but at least I have completed the migration in hyper-v and ironed out all the issues.

    Thanks!

As you said its an SBS server hence database shouldn't be big.
You can Export (from SBS) and Import (to 2010) the PST.

    * Make sure you are using Outlook not ExMerge when importing the PST as ExMerge PST won't work once you exported it on 2010 server.Gulab | Skype: gulab.mallah

You have to evacuate and delete the existing datastore and then re-create it. In the Add Storage (Speicher hinzufgen...) wizard, you have the option to select the block size. I'd suggest you select an 8MB block size, which allows for the maximum virtual disk size.

I have seen other error reports posted regarding install failures when the install is run from a remote desktop session so the install has been run from the console.

Does anyone have any idea why the install is failing?

Thanks for your help in advance!

    Hello,

I'm trying to provision Exchange 2003 accounts from OIM 11gR2 but I keep getting errors. My AD connector works and is able to reconcile and provision account and my Exchange connector is linked to it. I've understood that the only mandatory fields in the Exchange 2003 provisioning form are "mail store name" and "alias", so I've tested by only filling those. However, the provisioning does not complete and the logs show this error :

I have Exchange 2010 installed in an Exchange 2003 environment. My 2003 environment has 1 frontend and 1 backend.
Mail flow between 2010 and 2003 mailboxes are working via Routing group connectors
Outbound mail from 2010 is working for 2010 mailboxes
Originally, my 2003mailboxes sent oubound email via(2)2003 SMTP Connectors. One was for TLS to a partner company. The other for general email via DNS lookup.
When I deleted the (2) 2003 SMTP connectors, outbound mail from 2003 mailboxes remain in queue and I can't figure out why it won't go through the routing group connector to my 2010 box. Mailflow between both Orgs are working. Outbound for 2010 mailboxes
    are working.
See routing group connectors output below.

    Hi Expert's
We are in to Pilot mailbox migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. We are facing issue during mailboxes migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 is very slow. Before migration we

We are migrating mailboxes over the WAN and LAN also. We have 45 Mbps WAN link which is dedicate for Migration.

We have migrate 4 GB mailbox over the WAN it’s took 1hr 30min to Migrate. We have checked the WAN link utilization it’s utilized only 6 Mbps whereas complete 45 Mbps WAN link is available.
We have migrate single 2.334 GB Mailbox in LAN and it’s took 1 hr. to migrate on Exchange 2010.
    We have observed the
BytesTransfeerdPerMinute also very slow we are getting maximum 45 MB per Minute on the LAN as well as on WAN.
We have migrated 4 Mailboxes simultaneously and we observed for last mailbox which is 3.07 GB
    BytesTransfeerdPerMinute is 2 MB
We have checked no hardware resources bottleneck during the migration.

We have to calculate Timelines for migration and because of this speed we can calculate time lines. Please find mailboxes migration stastices as below.

    DB:2.62:Exchange 2003 Sp2 To Exchange 2010 Sp1 Migration Very Slow. d3

I've done dozens of migrations and 1-4GB/hr is pretty standard when migrating from Exchange 2003, even when on a 1GB network. I plan on 1GB/HR but have seen 8GB plus, I'm very happy if I get 4GB/hr.
The Exchange store process willthrottle the migration activity so the server doesn't start responding too slow to user request. In addition, normally the 2003 server is running on slower hardware and may have a very fragmented database structure. So
the source server is the biggest bottleneck in most cases.

Item count affects migration more than mailbox size. If a 4GB mailbox as 100K items it will take much longer than a 4GB mailbox with 25K items.Microsoft Infrastructure Architect, MCSE: M, MCTIP, Microsoft Exchange MVP http://info.izzy.org | http://jasonsherry.org | Twitter: @JasonSherry

    2. Create OIM administrator who can create/remove/update access policies.

Can it be done using OIM OOTB admin roles or create authorization policies in OIM?

    Regards,

DB:2.62:Exchange Server 2003 Mail Sorunu dd

    Merhabalar,
Şirkette Exchange 2003 Serverkullanıyoruz. Şirketsahibimizde şu şekilde bir sorun oluşuyor. Şirket dışından atılan mail cc'de olmasına rağmen kendisine ulaşmıyor. Bu mail cc'deki (şirket çalışanları) diğer kullanıcılara ulaşmış. Bu sorun ayda
bir oluyor diyebiliriz. Danışmanlık aldığımız firma mailbox boyutunun (yaklaşık 9 gb) yüksek olmasından ve bir kaç tane cihaz kullanımından kaynaklı olduğunu ileri sürüyor. Exchange Server 2003'den Exchange 2010'a geçersek bu sorunları yaşamayacağımız söyleniyor.

DB:2.62:Exchange Server 2003 Mail Sorunu dd

    Merhaba,

    Hi,
Running Setup.com /preparead on a Exchange 2003 set up and upgrading to 2010 SP1. Prepare Legacy and prepare schema worked fine with no issues but I keep getting the errors below when running prepare AD. I've searched and searched and can't
find any fixes. So far I have checked the recipient policies for any backslashes or leading spaces and there are none. I have removed all but the default policy and all addresses except for 1 x400 and 1 SMTP. I still get the error each time
    I try to run.
    Can anyone shed some light?

This is the error I get in the command prompt when running Setup.com /preparead. I've ran it on both the PDC and Schema Master and get the same error.

    Folks

Do you have documentation and/or any recommendation on how to migrate cisco unity from exchange 2003 to exchange 2007?

    DB:2.61:Cisco Unity 5.0(1) Exchange 2007 7k

nice tip! 5 points for you. Im working on a 4.04 upgrade this week. I have decided not to use DIRT from 4.04 to 5.x. Im going to use a "swing" server and install 4.04, DIRT backup, DIRT restore, then upgrade it to 4.2.1. I will then use Cobras to move everything over. I will have my fresh 5.01 server running in Production, my old 4.04 server running while do all my work on the "swing" server. And my swing server is actually a VM server. It's only really used for DIRT export/import and Cobras.. so I dont need it to go CUCM or take calls, etc.

    Cheers!

DB:2.61:Revoke Order Ad User Exchange Problem cf

    Hello,

    Scenario:
USER1 has provisioned the following resources:
    AD User
    Exchange

When I try to delete the USER1 on OIM, the OIM revokes all the resources provisioned for that user.

    Problem:
OIM is revoking the AD User resource first.
When it tries to revoke the Exchange, the task Delete Mailbox fails because the AD User related to the Mailbox has already been deleted from Active Directory.

    Question:
Should I try to enforce the order in which the resources are revoked?
The Exchange should always be revoked before the AD User?

Will the 'Depends On' configuration on Resource Object do the trick for a revoke scenario?

    Thanks for any hint

    OIM= 9.1.0.2
    AD=2003
    Exchange=2007

DB:2.61:Revoke Order Ad User Exchange Problem cf

It's hard to manage order of operations on revoke. I would suggest you create a task that is triggered on the revoke, and is marked as preceding to the main revoke. For this task, create a check that looks for the dependent object instance and check if the status is revoked. You can set the retry configurations for this task so that once completed, your regular revoke will continue.

We are trying to upgrade our 2010 Exchange to 2013 Exchange but install tells us that 2003 Exchange cannot be on our domain. We used to have 3003 Exchange but someone uninstalled it but parts of uninstall failed. How can I remove the recognition
of 2003 Exchange in our 2010 Exchange manager? It shows 1 Exchange 2003 server but we want to remove that server from our domain. Thanks.

    DB:2.60:Remove Exchange 2003 Problem 7k

Yes, that Exchange Server is no longer in production for mail. It is one of 2 domain controllers and want to run dcpromo to remove it and eventually remove it from the domain. However, I suspect that something is awry in the AD since it shows up as
an exchange server on our Exchange 2010 system manager.
We also want to install Exchange 2013 but it won't let us as long as we have a 2003 exchange server in the domain. Not sure what to do next.

DB:2.59:Exchange Bes On Same Physical Server (Vm'd)?? xd

So we are looking to implement redundant Disaster Recovery services to "mimic" our production environment. We have a standalone physical BES (4.1 / Win 2003) server and a standalone physical Exchange server (2003, Win 2003) in production. Roughly 10 users on Exchange, 9 on BES.

I was thinking instead of purchasing 2 physical servers for DR we could do 1 physical with 2 VMs. My question is if this can be done without problems putting BES and Exchange on the same physical server but 2 different VMs (I was thinking a DL380, 2 processors, quad nics...).

    Any suggestions?

my gut feeling is based on your user load, and the machine you are proposing, (I noted that you did not specify memory requirements - Remember get as much as you can) there should not be an issue form Memory or Processor, not too sure about disk I/O, so make sure that your disks are fast with plenty of spindles!

We are in Exchange 2003, 2007, and 2010 mixed mode, we have totally 9 Exchange servers at 5 sites, and 21 RGC's among them. I like to clean up some RGC's that are notnecessary anymore. Instead of listing them one by one and expect someone
telling me which one to remove, I like to ask some questions to clarify my concepts, so I can decide which ones to remove by myself.
    1. Between site A (Exchange 2003 Exchange 2010) and site B (Exchange 2007 only), what RGC is required to ensure mail flow go through? I assume two RGC's between the 2010 and 2007 should be enough?
    2. Between two sites which both haveExchange 2003 Exchange 2010, I assume
no RGC is required to route emails between these two sites, because Exchange 2010 will automatically find another Exchange 2010. So the only RGC's I need will be
between Exchange 2003 and 2010 in the same site. Is this correct?
    3. Without RGC, will Exchange 2007 2003 servers find each other? (In other words, is RGC between an Exchgne 2007 and2003server absolutely necessary?)
    4. Without RGC, will Exchange 2010 2007 servers find each other? (In other words, is RGC between an Exchgne 2010 and2007 server absolutelynecessary?)

You can delete them in ADSI Edit, yes, but my preference would be to install the old Exchange System Manager and delete them using that.
Do not delete the old administrative groups. That will cause you troubles because of legacy addressing. Leave it there.

You would need to write a new power shell script to actually change the user's mail store, then you could call the script in the same way the Create and Delete scripts are called.

Exchange 2010 SSO no issue, but redirect to Exchange 2003 doesn't work.

    Any idea ?

    Thanks

    DB:2.59:Sso Exchange 2003 And Exchange 2003 Coaxing Period 37

    Hi,
Based on the discription, legacy URL of Exchange 2003 couldn't be routed by TMG server. This is expected because TMG server authenticates only for the Exchange 2010 OWA requests.

    Here is the solution below:
    1. Disable Authentication at the TMG server, and then allow Exchange server to handle the authentication.
    2. Publish the legacy Exchange server rule on TMG server, configure it to listen the same listener with Exchange 2010 server rule, enable the SSO on the listener, and then change the authentication from FBA to Basic on the Exchange 2003 Front End server.
If there are configuration questions on the TMG server, in order to resolve problems more efficiently, I recommend you post to the Forefront TMG and ISA Server forum:

We attempted to place our exchange 2010 server into production (coexistence with exchange 2003) but had to back out as mail would not flow from exchange 2010 to exchange 2003 or from the Internet to 2003.
Mail from 2010 mailbox and 2003 mailbox to the internet worked and mail from the internet to 2010 mailbox worked.
Essentially, mail destined for the 2003 server would get stuck in a loop on 2010.
The queue stated a local loop was detected. I think it may be related to how we are trying to implement exchange 2010.
Our environment is currently 1 Exchange 2003 server FE/BE.
We are attempting to transition to 1 Exchange 2010 server with MB/CAS/HUB roles.

Here is where the problem lies.
Current exchange 2003 FQDN is exchange.domain.com
Current exchange 2003 DNS name is exchange.domain.com

We want to keep the DNS name exchange.domain.com for our OWA users.
So when we try to implement 2010,
    Exchange 2003 FQDN is exchange.domain.com
Exchange 2003 DNS name becomes legacy.domain.com
    Exchange 2010 FQDN is exchange2010.domain.com
Exchange 2010 DNS name becomes exchange.domain.com

I think this is what is causing mail to loop in exchange 2010 as the netbios name of exchange 2003 is “exchange” and the DNS name for exchange 2010 becomes “exchange.domain.com”
Can anyone provide some insight as to whether this is even possible or what we may be doing wrong?

    Hi,

The SourceTransportServers parameter specifies the host name or fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the transport servers used to send messages to the target transport servers. You
can specify more than one server by separating each entry with a comma.

We have migrated 4 Mailboxes simultaneously and we observed for last mailbox which is 3.07 GB
    BytesTransfeerdPerMinute is 2 MB
We have checked no hardware resources bottleneck during the migration.

    hi,
It is related to your latency, not your bandwidth. It is normal if you have 2MB per minute.
Note: You should ignore the damaged mail when migration, otherwise it will add your time.
Or you can try copy pst file. You can export your mailbox to a pst file on your ex03, then you should import the pst file on your ex2010.
See if the speed is faster.

my cleint wants to enfore prevention of sequential passwords used by users

now oim 11g password policy does not allow any OOTB feature for this.
The only way i see it is :
    event handler on RESET_PASSWORD
    1) get user previous password fron db
    2) decrypt it
    3) write some logic to match the old 1 and new 1 for any sequential thing (this is a tricky part)
password support length =9 min [a-z][A-Z][0-9][special char]

I dont recommend this at all.

Please let me know is there a better way to do it.

DB:2.58:Sequential Password In Oim 11g mp

Sounds like your only option is decryption. However, you will only know the current, and new password. OIM does not keep a history, unless you are writing it somewhere. You can look into what OAM/OID/OVD password policies can be used and implement the SSO option. I assume they can better handle these types of requirements.

    DB:2.57:Custom Plugin In Oim 11.1.1.5 38

    Hi all,
I'm trying to develope an OIM custom plugin which will perform email generation after "+Create User+" request submit.
The version of OIM is 11.1.1.5.

I followed official documentation at [this link|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e14309/plugins.htm#CHDFHIGE] and basically have done the following steps:
    1. developed custom java code with JDeveloper
    2. built the source code
    3. declared the custom plugin in plugin.xml file
    4. copied the custom plugin class to OIM server for example in $MIDDLEWARE_HOME/OIMPlugins/lib
NOTE: during this operation I have exactly mantained the same directory structure of custom java package.
For example custom plugin class is under my.custom.plugin java package and I have copied custom java class under $MIDDLEWARE_HOME/OIMPlugins/lib/my/custom/plugin folder
    5. created a zip file containing custom plugin class (always with its directory structure) and plugin.xml file
    6. copied the zip file to $OIM_HOME/server/plugins
    7. edited ant.properties file (under $OIM_HOME/server/plugin_utility) setting wls.home and oim.home variables
    8. built the wlfullclient.jar (only the first time)
    9. registered the custom plugin
    10. created the custom plugin dataset file
    11. imported it in OIM database using "+weblogicImportMetadata+" utility
    12. purged cache using "+PurgeCache+" utility

NOTE: all the steps above was executed using the system user running OIM process

Then I create a user using "+Create User+" request template, this custom plugin should be triggered and should generate email address for user within the request.
This does not happen, the plugin does not work; in fact I can't see neither any custom plugin log message that I wrote in my code nor the user email properly filled.

I have tried exactly the same procedure on another version of OIM (11.1.1.3) and the custom plugin works.

So, which are the missing steps for OIM 11.1.1.5? I can't find any differences comparing the related document of OIM 11.1.1.5 with OIM 11.1.13 one.

    Thanks
    Daniele

    DB:2.57:Custom Plugin In Oim 11.1.1.5 38

Hi Bikash, I think I found my mistake.
Just to clarify: I'm already referring to OIM 11.1.1.5 documentation, but in chapter "7. Developing plug-ins", the plugin.xml example still refer to the old namespaces, while in chapter "8. Developing Event Handlers for Extending User Management Operations" the new one.

    Any way thanks again.

Hi,My company plan to migrate from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 and I want to clarify some unknown. Background:My company has a sinlge forest with 3 child domains(HK, UK and Japan). In HK, all exchange servers are Exchange 2003. In UK, there exist exchange 2000 and exchange 2003. In Japan, there is exchange 2000, exchange 2003 and exchange 5.5. My questions are:1. Exchange 2007 is not supported to co-exist with Exchange 5.5. Is there any issue if we only migrated exchange 2003 in HK to exchange 2007 while other regions remain the same?2. I know there is ADC in Japan and UK for some reasons. Is there any issue if we only migrated exchange 2003 in HK to exchange 2007 while other regions remain the same?thank for any advice.Boteasy.

    DB:2.57:Migration Questions m3

Simple answer, you can not install Exchange 2007 into HK domain untill you remove all Exchange 5.5 servers from your Exchange orgization (from Japan domain). Exchange 2007 setup gives you error when it scans your organization before installation.

    1. uninstall the Exchange 2007 so it will remove the routing groupconnector from Exchange 2003 and then migrate from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010...or there is any other way.
    Thanks

Add Exchange 2010, migrate all services and mailboxes to it. You can then remove Exchange 2003 and then Exchange 2007.
Note that 2007 and 2010 will leverage the routing group connector that's already in place. 2007 and 2010 are in the same legacy routing group. 2007 HTs and 2010 HTs will talk to eachother via AD sites if necessary. Not routing groups..

    Answers inline

    1. ADExchange 9.1.1 connector is not supported by OIM 11g,But as per document, Connectors are automatically upgraded as part of the server upgrade.
So Can we upgrade this connector AD and Exchange 9.1.1 to AD and Exchange 9.1.7 on top of OIm11g,after oim 11g upgrade. Or Do we need to installtion newer version of AD and Exchange Connectors?

Connectors can never be upgraded or patched. They need reinstall. You have to install new version of connectors

    2. We are planning to install OIM 11g on top of existing DB, after DB migration. So, Will it contain over all data, mainly OIM objects information. If so, I think there is no need to import/recreate resourceObjects,Forms and adapters again on OIM 11g. please confirm.

OIM11g comes with new dataobjects,so old DB which is pointing to 10g OIM,would not work.

    3. As per oracle OIM 11g document, Prepoulated and Event hadlers behavior has been changed, Can we use these adapters, which are already in current system (DB) to make certain changes (Mapping Events/Fields to adapters), so that it will work in OIM 11g.

No Event Handlers donot work the way Entity Adapters used to work, they refer to new ser of API functionu as well.

Now there is no way you could do mappping on the UI.You would need to write new Event Handlers.

Only Organisation entity Adapters could be reused,as they are still intact in 11g

    Hope this helps

I need to be careful as not to effect the exchange 1 and exchange 3Celtic

    DB:2.56:Creating Users On Ms-Exchange 2007 kc

    Hi All,

I am using OIM 9.1.0.1 with Web logic 10.3 and trying to provision the user in ms-exchange 2007 installed on windows 2003 and using 9114 AD Exchange connectors .
I am able to provision the users on AD with SSL. When I am provisioning into Exchange it's showing provisioned at OIM end but user mail box is not creating on Exchange, users mail recipient type showing as 'mail user' not 'User MailBox'. When trying to open that user on exchange server its giving message as invalid 'ExtenalEmail address '.

anybody knows the solution, please share....

    Regards,
    Kankdekar

    Hello All,

We have OIM MS Exchange 9.1.1.5 connector.
    MS Exchange is 2003 Server

When a user is provisioned to Exchange, we notice that sometime the Use Mailbox Store Defaults is not being set on the Exchange. When we check the User Exchange Process Form, and against the DB the value is set to True for the user.

    This issue happens intermittently .

Currently running unity 4.04 sr1. Have exchange 2000 as mailstore... We have a separate exchange 2003 server up and running that we want to be our new mailstore and migrate the mailboxes from exchange 2000 server over to the exchange 2003 server and then do away with the exchange 2000, turning it off and putting it to bed...

After reading the documentation we believe these are the necessary steps... can anyone provide guidance and let us know if this sounds correct and we are on the right path for success...

    1. Install Voice Connector on new exchange 2003 server.

    2. Run Dbwalker.exe on the Unity Server

    3. Run DiRt backup for disaster recovery on Unity Server

    4. Upgrade system management tools for Exchange 2003 on Unity Server

    5. Install Exchange 2003 SP1 for the System tools on the Unity Server

    6. Run Cisco Unity Permission Wizard on Unity Server

    7. Restart Unity Server.

    8. Login and browse to CommServer\ConfigurationSetup directory

    9. Run Setup.exe and configure the Cisco Unity Message Store to point to the new exchange server.

    10. Migrate Mailboxes from the Old Exchange server to the New Exchange server with the Exchange Mailbox Move Tool.

    DB:2.56:Exchange 2003 To Exchange 2010 Migration Steps a7

    HI ,
I have migrated windows 2003 to windows 2008.Its successfully migrated.
Second phase i have a plan to migrate exchange 2003 to exchange 2010.
    My current setup
    windows 2008 64bit (DC)
    exchange 2003 sp2

    1

Bring the Exchange organization to Exchange Native Mode.

    2

Upgrade all Exchange Servers to Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2.

    3

Bring the AD forest and domains to Windows Server 2003 Functional (or higher) levels.

    4

Upgrade at least one Global Catalog domain controller in each AD site that will house Exchange Server
to Windows Server 2003 SP2 or greater.

    5

Prepare a Windows Server 2008 (RTM or R2) x64 edition server for the first Exchange 2010 server.

    6

Install the AD LDIFDE tools on the new Exchange 2010 server (to upgrade the schema).

    7

Install any necessary prerequisites (WWW for CAS server role).

    8

Run setup on the Exchange 2010 server, upgrade the schema, and prepare the forest and domains. (Setup runs all in one step or separate
    at the command line.)

    9

Install CAS server role servers and configure per 2010 design. Validate functionality.

    10

Transfer OWA, ActiveSync, and Outlook Anywhere traffic to new CAS servers.

    11

Install Hub Transport role and configure per 2010 design.

    12

Transfer inbound and outbound mail traffic to the HT servers.

    13

Install mailbox servers and configure Databases (DAG if needed).

    14

Create public folder replicas on Exchange 2010 servers using pfmigrate.wsf script, AddReplicaToPFRecursive.ps1, or Exchange 2010
    Public Folder tool.

    15

Move mailboxes to Exchange Server 2010 using Move Mailbox Wizard or Power Shell.

    16

Rehome the Offline Address Book (OAB) generation server to Exchange Server 2010.

    17

1Rehome the public folder hierarchy on the new Exchange Server 2010 admin group.

    18

Transfer all Public Folder Replicas to Exchange Server 2010 Public folder store(s).

    19

Delete Public and Private Information Stores from Exchange 2003 server(s).

    20

Delete Routing Group Connectors to Exchange Server 2003.

    21

Delete Recipient Update Service agreements using ADS Edit.

    22

    Uninstall all Exchange 2003 servers.

This is my plan to migrate. But i have a doubt in installing exchange 2010 in this scenario.
    Is it necessary to use
    Setup.com /PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions,

Please help me what excactly i have to do

Migration/a is a very delicate project and to be taken very seriously as it is a detailed work as well. You are giving us some great tips.
