    Hi,
does anyone know when Plesk 7.1.5 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 will be released?

    Thanks.

You are probably quite right about that atomicturtle.

By the way, I really appreciate that you build and distribute those MySQL RPM packages. I think we will create a Virtuozzo application template from your RPMs to deploy MySQL on our systems.

    Thanks!

    DB:3.42:Installing With Plesk 7.5.3 3k

Ok, well Im not really familliar with Plesk much. My question is how do I install apps like shoutcast or any apps as a matter of fact using Plesk and not doing it by telnet or ssh. I looked around and have found nothing. I have a virtual private server running red hat 9 and Plesk 7.5.3. If someon could help it would be great or know where I can find the information on how to do it.

    Thanks

    DB:3.42:Installing With Plesk 7.5.3 3k

All that you can install via Plesk is counterstrike gameserver (if you buy the add-on module) and Plesk updates. Everything else you need to install manually. It would be wise to get to know SSH well anyway, as youll need it one day.

Is it possible to update Apache within Plesk or do I need to run a command in SSH? If I need to run a command, what would the command be for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5?

Trying to expand my VM's disk. Host - WinXP SP1, Guest - Fedora Core 3, VMWare 5.

When I was creating my VM I had allocated 8GB (splitted into 2 GB files) for it. Now I have several *.vmdk files in my VM's folder:

    File name Size

    \-- \--

    Red Hat Linux.vmdk 537

    Red Hat Linux-s001.vmdk 1,537,736,704

    Red Hat Linux-s002.vmdk 2,119,041,024

    Red Hat Linux-s003.vmdk 2,128,871,424

    Red Hat Linux-s004.vmdk 1,994,194,944

    Red Hat Linux-s005.vmdk 48,234,496

    I used the command:

    "c:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmware-vdiskmanager.exe" -x 2GB "F:\VM\Red Hat Linux\Red Hat Linux.vmdk"

    and it returned error:

    "Bad command or file name".

Tell me, what is incorrect, what I'm doing wrong?

You can use a third party utility like partition magic that supports EXT3 or you could use a program like SystemRescueCd

    https://ip-adres:8443 doesnt work ??

I use Plesk 7.0 on red Hat 9.0. When i use http://80.xxx.xxx.xxx it shows the index.html just fine. the page that says: This is the Plesk homepage. this domain is not registered in Plesk, contact....bla,bla,

    Also https://80.xxx.xxx.xxx:443 is working, but
when i use https://80.xxx.xxx.xxx:8443 nothing is happening !!
Users see: This page cannot be found.
Cannot find server or DNS error.
I just received an e-mail from my ISP saying theyre NOT blocking port 8443. So it must be a failure in Plesk !!!!

Ive tried Plesk 7.0 for Linux as well as Plesk 7.5 for Windows (2003) and in both cases I have the same problem.

It has been 8 days since I posted this, and still no one can give me a hint ? Please, can anyone give it a thought ??

DB:3.23:Plesk 7.0 Not Accessible From Outside mm

I have the same problem, after upgrading Plesk (Updater) to 7.5.1. Once upgradded, :8443 returned No Connection.

I logged in using SSH -
with command; netstat -ln we find that the server is no longer listening on port 8443. Im also to new to understand how to re-establish 8443 or even if there is other configuration I have to restore, like SSL port(s).

    Anyone?

    Hi Dear friend:

We are the user of VM workstation. And we host a Gforge System on it. But we met really big trouble today.

    The situation as follow

1.We met a Server crash. (May be cause by Host HD space full)

2.We clean enough space of Host Server to run our Gforge Virtual Machine.

    3.Restart OK!

4.After a while, It show many error message in Gforge Virtual Machine.

5.Power off the Gforge Virtual Machine.

    6.Restart Gforge Virtual Machine

7.A message like Cannot find some file

    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4-000004-cl1-s010.vmdk

(The file is there but length is 0, we check our backup since last Sunday 3/25 its length is 0. Before that date we are not restore yet.)

8.If we click button Continue. It will show message like

Parent of this virtual disk could not be opened

We try our backup file. But, since the file Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4-000004-cl1-s010.vmdk length is 0 also. The message is all the same.

Can you give me any support to resolve this crisis?

If your vmdk file is 0 length, I am afraid the virtual HD is lost. I hope somebody else here can come up with another idea, but the vmdk IS the virtual hard disk. Maybe something can be done with a snapshot or something.

    Good Luck!

    Hi,

does the new Plesk 8.3.0 now works with RHE 5.1 ?

    Thanks
    Michael

    DB:3.19:Plesk 8.3.0 And Rhe 5.1 9j

    Hi,
support answerd me, it does not support RHE 5.1.

I can not understand why they do not support!

    Michael
    [\quote]

    Hi,

Actually, support guys always said that they dont support OSes which arent officially tested and announced. Moreover, in case of unsupported OS they can disclaim with products support and usually notify in advance about it.

Anyway, as atomicturtle said, for non major OS release (e.g. RHEL 5.0 and 5.1 ) you can try to
manually install the product (e.g. using yum or downloaded distributive).

Im going to be upgrading from Plesk v. 5.0.5 to Plesk 7. At the same time Im going to be switching to a more powerful server.

Can I create backup files using the BU utility for Plesk 5, then use the Plesk 7 BU utility to restore the files? Can the Plesk 7 BU utility read the Plesk 5 files?

    DB:3.12:Migrating Servers And Plesk 5 - Plesk 7 j8

Im about to do this on:
    plesk 5 - plesk 7
    plesk 6 - plesk 7

and at the same time, we are changing our T1 provider, so this should be interesting.

Are their any known (common) issues of things breaking when applying Plesk 7 on top of a Plesk 5 and/or Plesk 6 server.

Ive contacted support on a proper procedure and havent heard from them yet... I can post their steps if anyone is interested.

    Hello,

I am migrating a plesk RPM on a red hat 7.1 to a RPM install on red hat 7.3 in a new DC with a lower monthly fee ;-).

I just want to make sure I am doing this correct and have every step down pat:

1.) Set the TTL to 5 minutes, wait 3 days.
2.) Backup the old server using Plesk BU.
3.) Restore plesk using BU on new server.
4.) Log into registrar and point name servers to different IP addresses.
5.) Should be all set for a smoot transition?

I assume after 5 minutes after the move I could turn off the original server?

I want this to be as smooth as possible!

    Thanks for any input

You are basically right, but dont turn off the old server after five minutes. Make sure that your clients dont use other nameservers.

DB:3.12:Unable To Add Virtual Machine From Vmware Fusion 2.0.4 To Vmware Server da

    Hi all,

I'm trying to migrate a virtual machine from a VMWare Fusion 2.0.4 to our VMWare Server 2.0.1 instance. Whenever I try to add it via the web interface, I receive the logging below. After the add fails, my entire server web interface crashes. The only way I can get it running again is to restart all the vmware services via "service vmware restart". How can I get this virtual machine running on vmware server? It's critical that this is migrated to our server so it will be automatically paused and backed up off site to Amazon S3.

    Thanks,

    Todd

    RW 2105856 FLAT "Red Hat Linux-f018.vmdk" 0

Is it possible to have several files on disk D: and others on disk E: ?

    For example:

    \# Extent description

    RW 4193792 FLAT "D:\Red Hat Linux-f001.vmdk" 0

    RW 4193792 FLAT "D:\Red Hat Linux-f002.vmdk" 0

    RW 4193792 FLAT "E:\Red Hat Linux-f003.vmdk" 0

This is because of disk size and performance issues.

    Possible?

    DB:3.07:Migration Problems From Plesk 6 To Plesk 7.5.1 3k

I recent moved to a new datacenter and acquired a new server with Fedora Core 2 and Plesk 7.5.1 installed. Im trying to migrate clients from my older server which has plesk 6.0 and red hat linux 7.3.

After I filled out the details in Migration Manager, it continues to a 2nd page that says the information below. The problem is that nothing has happened for the past 2 hours other than the message that says preparing for execution. I have a 100MB/sec connection on both servers. Surely it shouldnt take that long to just to prepare for execution. Does anyone know good companies that do plesk migration? My system admin wasnt able to get the migration tool to work even when he did a manual migration.

Unfrotunatelly migration is a pain process, is not easy at all.
What I will try to do (Im in the same situation) to do an upgrade to PLESK 7.0, then to 7.1 then to 7.5. Dump out all domains, then reinstall OS and then redump into new OS, PLESK 7.5

DB:3.05:Up2date From Red Hat To Oracle Linux 17

    Hello,

i am using Red Hat Enterprise linux release 3 update 7 and we bought network support from oracle and the minimum requires:
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3
Oracle's up2date program will allow you to switch to ULN if you are running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Update 8 or later.

Mine is update 7 so it does not work,
can someone has a work around for this problem.
    Thanks,
    Tom

I upgraded my 1 1 server from Plesk 7.5.4 to Plesk 10.0.1 one year ago. The upgrade took 3 weeks, and I had many problems, all of which I managed to fix eventually.

I have written a guide for others who are facing the same upgrading task.

The guide includes some tips on configuring and upgrading Apache, PHP and MySQL, because these programs are often upgraded on a new 1 1 server. I have also given some tips on how to configure the RAID disk, and have mapped out the steps I took to migrate my site seamlessly from one Linux server to another.

Im going to get a new P4 3.06 Ghz with Hyperthreading server very soon.

Im going to use Plesk 5 on this server.
I have one question, which one offers better performance or support
the Hyperthreading feature better between Red Hat Linux 7.3
    and FreeBSD 4.8?

Personally Id like to install Plesk 5 + FreeBSD 4.8 on this new server, but if Red Hat offers better support for Hyperthreading, I may go that way.

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

If a install plesk for unix version 8, in red hat el 4. For how many time can I use it?

I want to know this, because last days I install Plesk unlicenced, only 1 domain, 1 mailbox, etc, etc. But after 3 days if my server get down, it cant reboot and be useful again. I need of reintall OS to get operating my box.

DB:2.96:If Plesk 8 Is Unlicenced. How Many Time Can I Use It? 9k

It adds an extra / before the mountpoint and puts the userquota in the wrong place next to the FS type for example what Ive seen from postings using my fstab entry for an example:

    Incorrect:
    /dev/amrd0s1a / / ufs,userquota rw 1 1

So what happens is because the system reads a line /device /mountpoint fstype options pass info, the errors returned seem to be of invalid file system type. Because PSAs install goes in and modifies this anyhow, I would do a fresh install of the OS, back up your /etc/fstab file, then install PSA and see if it screws up your fstab file. Do not reboot, because obviously it wont. Go in and edit the file and make sure it looks more like:

    /dev/amrd0s1a / ufs rw,userquota 1 1

Again I have not seen this with FreeBSD but it must be happening in Linux distros. Above is an entry made by PSA on a FBSD 5.4 machine, and as you can see its properly formatted.

You can add the yum repo with:

select the Plesk 9 repo when prompted

This is to announce the first 0.1 release of the atomic-yum web interface.

Atomic-Yum is a web front end for the yum package manager used on CentOS, Fedora and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The interface can install, remove, and update packages on the system, as well as view information on packages in the archive. It is currently available for CentOS5, RHEL5, Fedora 6 and 7. Versions for older installs are forthcoming.

Update: yum on RHEL4, CentOS4, Fedora Core 4 and 5 is now supported

    Screenshots are here:
    http://www.atomicrocketturtle.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItemg2_itemId=1428

Atomic-yum can be installed from the [atomic] channel with:

    yum install atomic-yum

It will automatically add itself to the Plesk interface, and is a GPLv2 licensed project. Volunteers needed!

Here's the link to the IMT:

    http://now.netapp.com/matrix/mtx/login.do

The problem with RHEL 4U5 is that it was last qualified with SDU 4.0.

If at all possible, upgrading to at least RHEL 4U6 gets you to SDU 4.1.1 and therefore up to SMO 3.0.3. This is preferred from a SDU and SMO perspective.

Id like to ask some questions about installing Plesk (rpm version) on Red Hat Linux 7.3:

    - is there any difference in the PSA directory structure between standard and rpm version?

    - on a 80 GB HD, whats the optimum partition setting would you suggest?

    - is upgrading PHP, etc the same or more difficult on rpm version?

    - what are the other differences that I should aware between standard and rpm versions?

Im used to the standard version with assigning the most disk space to /usr. Im getting another server soon and interested to try out the rpm version.

    you could also do:

    Hey all,

Ok, weve been upgrading a whole bunch of Plesk 5 and 6 machines to Plesk 7. Have had very few errors, except this head banging one.

My bad, this issue had nothing to do with SW-Soft. There was a glibc mismatch caused by some ill-received advice from Rackshack.

    Hello together,

I have created a sheduled backup for the Domain configuration and content (all configuration and content), that will be saved within the server repository.

So far that works without any troubles.
But if I try to download that backup via plesk, and enter a backup pasword or not, then it takes ages until the site has been loaded.

Sometimes an error message appear (attachment) and sometimes not. But everytime I start the download the whole server gets stuck. The CPU usage seem to grow up to 100%, all websites turn down with errors and the only way to stop that, is to reboot the server.

I am also receiving errors via mail like:
Server health parameter Services Panel CPU usage changed its status from green to red.
Server health parameter Disk Partition /tmp utilization changed its status from red to green.

This issue appears to both backup types, server repository and also with personal ftp repository. But it works if the backup size is pretty low (I think under 1 GB it seems to work with the download).

Besides of that, how can I let it create backups via FTP (within the same server), without that it will create a backup of the backup? Else it grows about the tripple size each day.

    Thank you in advance!

Am I the only one who got that problem?

By the way, I could solve the issue, that the backup is creating a backup of itself.

I have just added another subscription, that I just use to store the backup via ftp.

    DB:2.85:Migrate From Plesk 8.6 Red Hat 3 To Plesk 9.5 Red Hat 5 1z

Plesk 8.6 is currently installed on a Red Hat 3 server (with a purchased unlimited domain key) and there are 88 domains hosted on this server. I would like to update Plesk to version 9.x, but it will not run on Red Hat 3. Also, Red Hat 3 will not be supported after October 2010. I was advised by RackSpace that Red Hat 3 cannot be updated to Red Hat 5 and Red Hat 5 must be installed fresh so I plan to set up a new server and install Plesk with a temporary license key, migrate the domains to the new server and then replace the temporary key with the permanent key. This will take place in August or September 2010.

It seems like the only way to migrate the domains without disrupting service is to set up the new server under a different host name, which will then require every domain to change DNS after the files are migrated. Is there a better way to move the domains to the new server?

    DB:2.85:Migrate From Plesk 8.6 Red Hat 3 To Plesk 9.5 Red Hat 5 1z

Migrate to 8.6 and Then Upgrade To 9.5

I finally gave up migrating from 8.6 to 9.5. There was too much trouble with compatability and dependency issues. The solution was to first install 8.6 on the new server, migrate from 8.6 on the old server to 8.6 on the new server, and then upgrade the new server from 8.6 to 9.5. After the upgrade to 9.5 Horde and Qmail had to be upgraded and there was database owner and privilege issues with a few email accounts and databases, which were resolved by deleting the email boxes and databases and recreating them.

The Plesk key upgrade from 8.6 to 9.5 is one way and cant be reversed so I rented a 100 domain Plesk key for a month while migrating and working out all of the bugs. Then, upgraded my purchased key and swapped out the rented key for the purchased key. Otherwise there would have been too much down time during the migration and debugging.

Why can not I backup configuration and data from plesk 5.0.5 and restore it on Plesk7 ? Or may be I can update backup from Plesk 5.0.5 to backup for Plesk 7?

    Hello,

The only way to handle this situation is to install/upgrade your Plesk installation to 7.5 or higher on the destination server (7.0.3) which has Migration Manager and then to migrate domains. PMM can migrate from any version, even form 5.0.3.

You will not be able to perform backup/restore because every version of plesk has its own backup format.

DB:2.82:Specific Questions Before I Upgrade mz

Im currently running PSA 7.0.3 and 7.0.4 on Red Hat 7.3 and Red Hat 9.0 boxes. Ive been looking at what it would take to rebuild my servers to Fedora Core 2 or 3 and Plesk 7.5.1 and migrate accounts.

    1. What migration tools exist?

    2. Has Plesk modified their RPMs and published a repository that is accessible and usable to Yum? (I know that atomicrocketturtle has done something like this.)

    3. What resource management/control tools has Plesk added to PSA? Do Web Apps still take over the server? Can incoming mail make even 1-GB RAM systems start thrashing?

    4. Has Plesk fixed their QMail/SpamAssassin problem, where they send mail through SpamAssassin first and *then* find out theres no room for mail in the receipents mailbox?

    5. How about the delete-spam option -- does that work now?

    6. Is there any way for SMTP-authenticated sessions to bypass blocklisting checks?

    7. Is there any marker as to which SMTP-authenticated user submitted mail to the system, in case they are spamming through their account?

    8. Indeed, has Plesk provided for a mail agent other than QMail, such as Exim or PostFix?

    9. Is phpsuexec supported?

    10. What spam tracing tools does Plesk provide with their bundled QMail?

    11. Outbound mail rate limiting from Web sites?

    12. Serialization of mail so that you dont have 30 connections to Yahoo at the same time, to the detriment of everyone else?

    13. Plesk apparently bundles everything for a Web hosting appliance *except* Apache and PHP/Zend for Web sites. (They bundle PHP for thier own control panel.) Has Plesk isolated their changes in modules that conform to the Apache 2.0.x and 2.1.x API, so that any other modules supplied by Apache or any third party may be added and updated with impunity?

    14. Has anyone successfully taken PSA 7.5.1 servers above the 300-domain mark in a commercial Web hosting environment?

The PHP 4.3.10 flap is making me consider this path.

DB:2.82:Specific Questions Before I Upgrade mz

It didnt. I think that may well be due to the problems in PHP 4.3.10 that have already been reported to that group.

Circular dependencies was the diagnostic I got when I tried ARTs stuff.

Blown-up servers is what I got when I installed the RPMs manually (and there was no replacement php-manual, which broke dependencies anyway).

Blown-up server is what I got when I build a Red Hat 9 from scratch, and tried to install PHP 4.3.10 from source tarball. PSA wasnt in the picture.

So instead I write yet another log file scanner...

I really wanted to install it to Linux 9 but our server which is HP DL380 G3 doesnt support Red Hat Linux 9.... weird though but have to accept it.

Thats why I wanted to install a Red Hat Linux 8.0 so that the OS of our server are not far behind the latest Linux distro. But since Plesk doesnt support RH 8.0, Id rather install Linux 7.3 just to make the Plesk work. Thanks!

    Plesk 8.4 installation problem

    Hi there,

We have also faced the same problem after upgrading to Plesk 8.4. The problem is that the installer package dose not upgrade all the packages properly at one go. You have to run the installer once more to get it updated. Better if you do it from Plesk control panel -- updater link where you may find that the base packages are not properly updated. Simply check the box and click install and the problem should be solved. There is also a problem with the poppasswd file under /var/qmail/users/ which becomes a zero byte file after upgradation. You can simply restore the poppasswd file from your previous backup prior to the upgradation.

The script which Hardweb references (and from earlier posts) can be put into a script file and called from a scheduled cronjob.

Most of the other users posts where they had problems usually stem from errors in typing their script into the cron job entry or in their typing the script into a file. (like using Notepad in Windows to enter the script, then uploading it to the Linux server).

    Easyist way

We did ths easily by migrating to cPanel. Worked great and they gave us a free support ticket just in case anything popped up - which it didnt. No more Plesk spam or upgrade disasters.

I tried changing init 3 to init 5 but it didnt helped. After changing it to init5 ,the cursor just keeps blinking. Its the same when i type startx also.

    DB:2.79:Upgrading From 7.0 To 7.5.4 8c

    Hi There,

A couple of questions about upgrading to the latest Plesk versions that suports php5.

I have a dedicated LAMP server with Plesk 7.0 installed.
    This version has a Plesk Updater tool, it lists 3 releases;

    plesk 7.1.7
    plesk 7.5.3
    plesk 7.5.4

A click on any of the upgrades shows a list of all components, only one is check:
    -Base packages of Plesk-

1)Should I check all other components with Update Available such as Backup utilities and plesk migration manager?

    2) How do I upgrade to the 7.5.4? Should I start with the 7.1.7 and continue in order with each one of the others?

    3) Do I have to pay for this upgrade?

    4) Would this upgrade affect in any way my websites? or data?

    Thanks.
    Mmmota

You first need active SUS to upgrade:
    http://www.swsoft.com/en/support/sus/

If you have that Id suggest upgrading via shell with the RPMs rather than via Updater as its more reliable. You should go to 7.1.7 then 7.5.4 (dont miss out 7.1.7 and no need to go via 7.5.3).

    DB:2.79:Plesk Updater Not Updating 3j

I am running Plesk 7.5.3 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3 (Taroon Update 8). I started off with Plesk 7.0, but upgraded to 7.5.3 about a year ago. I decided to use the Plesk Updater to update to 7.5.4 to prepare for a future upgrade to Plesk 8. After solving a couple of minor dependency issues I finally got it to run without errors. However, it is still showing that it is running 7.5.3, and every time I run the updater for Base packages of Plesk under Plesk 7.5.4 Components the autoinstaller3.log shows Installation done.
Exit with OK status. But it still says I am running 7.5.3. I have gone through this several times, and even rebooted the server.

Since I am not seeing anything obvious in the log file, how can I figure out what is keeping me from being updated to 7.5.4. Any ideas? Thanks!!

    DB:2.79:Plesk Updater Not Updating 3j

Thanks for the tip. I ran the /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/autoinstaller from bash via SSH, which I believe is what you suggested. The 2 required packages were Base packages of Plesk and Plesk migration manager. Upon completion, I still got the same result saying that the upgrade to 7.5.4 was done, but the version is 7.5.3. The final screen gave me:

Right, Fedoralegacy handles the updates for redhat 7.2-9 now.

    From the FAQ:
For supported Red Hat Linux releases, we will continue to issue back-port security or critical fixes for as long as there is community interest, but for at least another 1.5 years from their official Red Hat End of Life.

DB:2.77:New To Vps And Need Help! a1

The two things (mysql being under high load and the internal server error) may be indirectly related, or maybe directly related.

    Check your logs:
    /var/log/mysql.log
    /var/log/httpd/error_log
    /var/www/vhosts/your-domain.tld/stats/logs/error_log

Some things that might be happening: The 5000 line file may cause an upload file size or post file size or php memory usage larger than is allowed by php.ini. Youll see these in the error_logs, I think.
mysql may be overloading and causing an error. You should see this in the mysql.log, I think.

yet another possible problem is that lots of things together may be causing your VPS to use more resources than it is allowed, and this is causing something to stop working or be killed and that is then causing the problem. Check /var/log/messages and also your VPSs control panel for any resource issues.

Any ideas about migrating from Plesk 7.5.4 on Red Hat 9 to Plesk 8 ? Would it be best to do a full backup and restore on Plesk 8 on a new OS ?

    Regards
    Joao Correia

    DB:2.77:Migration To Plesk 8 ! xj

    Ideal scenario for your upgrade.

    1. Get a new server and install Centos 4.3 on it.

    2. Install Plesk 8 on this server.

    3. Get a temporary Plesk key from Sw-Soft

    4. Use the migration manager on the new built server to migrate all of your clients to this server.

    5. Point your DNS to the new server.

    6. If all looks good you can scrap the old server and switch your old IPs to the new server as you had them before.

I can not access the Plesk 7.5.2 Control Panel. I am able to get to the login page, but when I attempt to login the page just hangs and comes back with an action cancelled message after about 5 minutes. I originally thought this was related to an IP switch, but that doesnt seem to be the case.

Everything else seems to be ok, except ftp seems to be slower than normal. When the Control Panel was working, it functioned fine as well.

Plesk resides on a Red Hat Enterprise 3 server and command line access and controls seem to work fine. I have tried restarting the Plesk Service and the server to no avail.

    DB:2.77:Control Panel Not Opening 91

Actually, Turns out the problem was because of the resolve.conf file. As we have undergone an IP change, our nameservers IP had changed as well, These where due to be changed, but I did not anticpate it affecting the Control Panel. Once the resolve.conf was updated, the Control Panel worked fine.

    Hi all,

I've got a problem that I am not able to figure out.

    I've got 2 nexus 5020 running

    Software

      system:    version 5.0(2)N2(1)

      system image file is:    bootflash:/n5000-uk9.5.0.2.N2.1.bin

    Hardware

      cisco Nexus5020 Chassis ("40x10GE/Supervisor")

I use Nagios for management and so far, everything is working fine. Since a couple of days, I was thinking to install dcnm 6.1.1a on a red hat linux to test the app and see what can I do with the nexus. The problem is that every time that I try to work with the DCNM app, the CPU goes up a lot.

The show process cpu history is the following:

Could SNMP be the cause of this high CPU? How could I confirm it? Maybe it is a bug but I could not find anything.

3)during upgrade is there anything to care about.
4)after upgrading will php and mysql version upgrade also?
    Thanks;

    DB:2.75:Upgrade From Plesk 7.5.4 To Plesk 8 33

    1) Order a clean server with Plesk 8 installed already. sw-soft really screwed up the upgrade process, and youll find you will end up with more headaches than are worth it. Either go clean, or stick with 7.5.4, which you know works.
    2) The easiest is not always the best. The web-based updater will work, sometimes. There are a lot of problems people are discovering in the update that you would have to hunt through server logs in order to fix. The best way is to download the ~1.5mb autoinstaller from the sw-soft downloads page, and run it from SSH. This will let you observe the process as it happens, and know right away of any problems it runs into.
    3) Other than whether the server will still serve webpages without some tweaking and reupdating? Nothing more than usual. If you update, you run the risk of some pretty hefty server loads, and your server no longer delivering mail to root (logwatch files, and Plesk cron notices, for example). drweb is causing quite a number of headaches, as is the communications between spamassassin and qmail slowing to a crawl, and shooting the resource usage through the roof. Those who start clean with 8.0 are finding this less. Oh yeah... the backup process is **** now, and the files you generate with 7.5.4 are VERY likely not going to be readable with 8.0 (there are a few people who say that they are, but a search of the forum will show many more saying they are not).
    4) No. You will want to use a program like yum to update your php and mysql manually. atomicrocketturtle has a repository that can handle this for you.

I am really pushing on you here to either stick with 7.5.4 until sw-soft figures out how to release patches, or migrate to a clean Plesk 8. A search of Plesk 8 problems on any number of support boards or Google will only further support this suggestion.

I would recommend using the backup/restore utilities for psa5, to make a dump of your existing install, then putting that in a safe place just in case. This way, if there is any major problem, you can simply wipe out the new install, reinstall 5.x, and do a restore.

I suspect the raw devices should still be usable, but you should check with your ASM product support folks about that.

From the O/S perspective the raw devices should be fine (raw is raw), but check with the ASM folk about their on-disk format between these versions.

    DB:2.74:/Admin ja

Is there any reason why I shouldnt be able to use somesite.com/httpdocs/admin with plesk 7? When I go to somesite.com/admin I get a 403 forbidden error. However the folder does contain an index.html file.

The weird thing though, is that if I change the name of the folder to anything other than admin, it works perfectly. This leads me to believe that plesk may have specifically blocked this folder name or is using it for some other purpose?

The fix is obvious, but I was upgrading to plesk 7 (from plesk 5 on red hat 7.3) and I dont want to have to email all of my clients and tell them that if they are using this naming structure they will need to change it.

Has anyone got Sitebuilder to work with Red Hat Advance Server 3.

IF so, how and which distribution of Sitebuilder did you use.

Ive tried Red Hat® Enterprise Linux 3 and Fedora Core 1 versions of Sitebuilder and they both corrupted
    my VPS.

    DB:2.74:German /Swedish Carachters Doesnt Work. 7z

Swedish / German characters like äö are shown like 䮳 or China characters on all websites. We have Plesk 7.1 reloader on Red Hat Enterprise 3. This worked on the old server with Ensim Pro 3.5 and Red Hat 7.3.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi Hendrik,

I would guess there is a conflict with encoding/charset in webpages and in headers.

I would recommend using a tool like wget to fetch a broken webpage completely with http-headers like wget -s http://mydomain.com/bla.html. Then have a look at bla.html in the top it should show the http-headers.

Maybe these differ from the charset that was used for the webpage.

    If Apache has directive like:

    AddDefaultCharset ISO-8859-1

This will always add charset=iso-8859-1 and could conflict if e.g. your website use UTF8.

    Simply change it to

    AddDefaultCharset off

    in httpd.conf

    Maybe this helps?
