    Hi guys,

    Currently without much configuration, when we merge 2 SO into 2 Delivery, this is possible through VL10A. However, when I bill, the invoice will be split into 2 as there was 2 SO but we only used in 1 DO.

    Is there any way to force the system to use 1 invoice only regardless how many SO was merged into 1 DO? Any help is much appreciated.

    I'm merging records from Sql Server into a word 2003 document (*.doc). A CRM program\app sends the records to word through an API (I guess).

    When I preform the merge - I get two results at the same time. One is the desired result and one is not:
    1) One document - with multiple merged records.
    2) Several documents - with one record each.
    Lets say I send 3 records for example. I get totally 4 documents opened. 1 with 3 merged records. 3 with 1 merged record.
    I want to get only the single document opened - but cant track what is the root of this problem. Would thank for and welcome any help.

    By default, Word will produce only 1) One document with multiple merged records.

    as well as nesting. SUMIFS will find the particular description i want, but it will only tabulate the column on the left. In other words, if it finds the description in the merged columns of L M, it only tabulates column L and i can't get it to tabulate

    Do like Ashish Mathur has suggested: use 'Center Across Selection'. To do it:
    Select the cells that you would normally have merged, then
    Choose Format -- Format Cells and then
    Select the [Alignment] tab.
    You will find "Center Across Selection" near the bottom of the dropdown list for the Horizontal alignment.

    Then when you 'find' your description table, you know the first column to be tabulated is that one, and the second column is that column + 1.

    I am trying to create mailing labels in design cs5. I have used excel and saved it as a csv file. I go to Indesign and then windows/Utilities and data merge. I created a 3 column document and made a 1"X 2 5/8" text frame. I placed the info into the new label I created on the upper left side of the first column. I hit preview and see the info there. All is fine so far. I then click the create merged document. I specify I want multiple records and I hit ok but nothing happens.

    What I see is the info goes back to Company, Address, Town, Phone when I try to create multiple records. I only see my info when Im in preview but it switches back to Company, Address, etc when it refuses to produce multiple records.

    Please help because this is driving me nuts

    I will propose a solution, even without having pretty much details about your bussines context, architecture, etc..
    -- For the first question:

    Create a New SolutionRight Click in the solution and choose Add Existing Project - Repeate these steps for all the projects you have, I mean: 27 (first app) 12 (second app).Right Click in the executable project and choose, Set as Start Up Project.Rebuild the solution.
    -- For the second question:
    It is relative, in fact you should think about why are you merging the apps, and how the architecture should like. I will give you some suggestions, but remember to put your architecture context.

    Create a Folder per layer. I mean, Service Layer (put all your Service Projects here). Business Layer, Data Access Layer, UI Layer, and so on.Keep the apps splited. I mean, a folder for App 1 and another folder for App 2. This option, gives you the ability to easily split the apps again in the future.Don´t change the folder structure. With the solution proposed for the first question, it is not mandatory to change the folder structure.

    I have a data set (source) with 2 types of record types. My merge document has 1 form for per section that I want to only merge TYPE A, and others only to merge TYPE B. What I want to end up with is Type A records merged into some of the forms and Type
    B merged into the others. I have a field on my data that differs for type A vs. type B. When I merge the data I don't want to end up with a bunch of blank forms in between. How can I get (for example) type A record to skip section / form 1,5, 7? Is
    there someway to selectively merge an entire section for one data type, and not the other?

    If you only have one mailmerge main document, then the only way you will be able to skip forms selectively will be to use { IF } fields to include /entire sections/, including the section break, selectively.

    So suppose
    (1) your mail merge main document has
    Section 1 (for either type of record)
    Section break
    Section 2 (for type A records only)
    Section break
    Section 3 (for type B records only)
    (2)you have a field called rectype that is "A" for type A and "B" for type B
    Then you can consider changing your document so it looks like
    Section 1{ IF "{ MERGEFIELD rectype }" = "A" "put the section break and the entire content of section 2, including fields etc. in here"
    }{ IF "{ MERGEFIELD rectype }" = "B" "put the section break and the entire content of section 3, including fields etc. in here" }

    However, it will not necessarily be easy to get that to work correctly, especially if you have different headers and footers in each section, or when you say "form", you are reproducing a typical paper form using a lot of text boxes etc.
    So if that is the situation you face I would go with the final one of Graham's suggestions, which would involve creating two completely different Mail Merge Main documents:
    Main document 1 (for A):
    Section 1
    Section break
    Section 2
    and
    Main document 2 (for (B)
    Section 1
    Section break
    Section 3
    Then as far as record selection is concerned, you can either use the { SKIPIF } approach that Graham suggests, or try to do it the "approved" way, where in each Mail Merge Main Document, you filter the records in the Mail Merge Recipients dialog box (click
    the small down arrow in one of the column headers, click (Advanced..), and take it from there. However, this may not go well if you need to compare anything with blanks.

    I have two tables and want to do a Word mail merge (using Access 2007 query as the data source). Below is a summary.

    Table 1 is the parent table andhas the client info (name, addresses, phone, etc). Fields: ClientID, ClientName, etc

    I have a bunch of materials I need to update across multiple objects in multiple scenes, and am having trouble getting the "Use Merged Materials" to work the way I think it should. Can someone please have a look at the attached #40;stripped and simplified#41; scenes, and try updating the materials in the "MateriaMergelTest.max" to those found in "NEWMATERIALS.max" by merging the contained objects in the latter? All the materials are named the same as those found in the original scene, and should replace them "automatically", but there are a few that just don't seem to want to "take", no matter what I do. Any ideas, tips, or work-arounds would be appreciated #40;though I should add the caveat that selecting individual objects and applying new materials one-by-one via .mat library isn't really feasible#41;. Thanks!BTW: Through my solution hunting, I found that the "Apply to All Duplicates" tick-mark doesn't work, and ends up only applying the first of your string of merged materials. You have to click "Use Merged Materials" for each instance... I think this is a bug.

    We have 3 branches of code... Dev, Main, Releases.  Dev is for development, Main is the latest stable version, and Releases is for bug fixes to the last released version.  When a bug fix that is done in Releases passes QA it is merged up to Main, and then merged from Main to Dev.  When merging from Main to Dev it is easy to see what changeset needs to be merged up because it is the only one there and it has the current date.  We recently completed work on everything in Dev and were releasing a new version so we merged everything from Dev down into Main and checked in any resolved conflicts.  It appears that in doing this however that a changeset was created and it contains EVERY file that was merged down into Main.  Most of the files Change says Merge, Branch, and a few say Merge, Edit.  Now when a bug fix has beeen merged into Main from Releases and I want to merge the changeset from Main up to Dev I'm seeing 2 changesets to choose from, the one I need to merge up, and the one that was created from the last Release containing EVERY file.  Its confusing having this extra changeset here because we're used to interpreting any changesets available for merging from Main to Dev as being bug fixes that need to go up to Dev.  Yet here's this one that was created from merging Dev down into Main.  I suppose I could merge it back to Dev now but that may create ANOTHER changeset that ultimately would get merged back down to Main when the next release is ready.  I guess I'm confused why there is a changeset for merged files.  It makes it seem like there is some difference to merge when there is not.  My goal is to just have a nice clean list of changesets when I am seeing what needs to be merged up to Dev from Main.  Any advice\insight?

    Hello,When you merge a bunch of changes from Dev to Main, those will indeed show-up as one check-in in MAIN. However, if the merge was correctly performed, if you would try to merge Main to Dev back, it will show 'no changes to be merged'.  Can you try merging from Main back to Dev by 'Latest Version' ?     When I select the option for multiple records in InDesign Date Merge, I still only get one record on a page in preview. When I ask it to create a merged document, each item from the excell file is put on a separate page. Why is this happening, I want 4 items on a page.

    If that is the template page in the screen shot, and you only are merging the Name field (which is kind of what it looks like, on close examination, since the preview box is not checked and you have images on two layers), then the problem is that you have too much on the page.

    For a multiple record merge from the document page you need exactly one instance of everything that is to be merged, in the upper left position. ID will duplicate everything on the page as many times as it will fit using the spacing you set up. Objects on a master page, if you are setting the merge fields on the master as well, will not be duplicated unless grouped with objects containing merge fields.

    I have multiple photos in Aperture that I want to merge into a panaroma. I use Photoshop's photomerge feature to do this. If select the photos in Aperture and right click to "edit with Photoshop" I end up with a new version of all the individual photos that are being merged. I don't want these duplicate I just want to get them into Photoshop. I realize the resultant merged photo (pano) in Photoshop will be a new photo that needs to be imported into Aperture.

    I am trying to find the simplest way to get the individual photos to be merged into Photoshop. I am using a managed library in Aperture so I can't simply open the photos from Photoshop (and if I could it would be a pain to dive down through Apertures folder structure).

    I can export all the photos from Aperture and then select them in Photoshop to be merged. But then I end up with a duplicate set of photos to be deleted.

    Just searching for a better way.

    I have a mailing in which I need to produce a two-page letter for some entries in a data file but not for others. Basically, I have a list of countries, and those in the data in the listed countries should print but anyone else shouldn't. The list of countries
    is too long to use the edit recipient list/filter/query options route (19 currently, though it may grow longer before we go into production). I tried a string of nested IF statements to check the country's name with further IFs within them to select the correct
    letter (there are multiple versions, based on another code in the data) and then INCLUDETEXT to pull the text into the document. This works great, except that every time there's a record in the data that shouldn't print, the merge produces a blank page.

    Is there any way to either suppress the blank page during the merge or to seek and destroy blank pages in the merged document before printing? I'd rather not have to resort to manually stripping out the records we don't want from the data, because we'll need
    to do this repeatedly with a number of very large files, each with hundreds of records.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    That works, except that the sort on the file is quite complex. The data file has literally hundreds of fields, and the sort is dictated by customer need and is programmed into the code that generates the file. I can't reproduce it with any accuracy using
    Word.

    I don't suppose there's a macro for deleting blank table lines? So we wouldn't have to mess with the sort?

    Here's my situation:
    Trunk   |__ Branch A   |__Branch B
    Branch  A was baseless merged in to B
    Branch A was merged into trunk.
    Trunk was merged into B resulting in hundreds of filename collisions because the files were created from Branch A via baselss merge and then when merged in via the trunk, TFS doesn't recognize them as the same file and so now my only option when checking in the file is to undo local changes or ignore, neither of which is what I want to happen. I want the changes from the trunk to establish the merge relationship of those files that were baseless merged in from A. However, the only way I can see to do this is to undo the changes on each file force a baseless merge from trunk to B, then resolve the conflict...this however, is far too time consuming to do file hundreds of files....
     
    Any ideas?

    I'm reviewing an update set of another colleague to verify the changes before pushing to the next instance. They had multiple update sets and then merged them into one update set.

    Now when I review the merged update set, part of the update set has the type, target name and action. However the other updates that were merged are blank so I have to individually go and review the XML file to see what the update was.

    Has anyone seen this before with merged update sets? I don't use that option very often if at all.

    5. Publish.
    When I Publish, the Project Centre shows that multiple projects have merged into the newly Published file. How do I make edits to multiple projects without having them merged into the new file?

    Spent 5+ hours with MobileMe support to no avail. Recent MM calnedar upgrades have produced multiple MM calendars, which show up in Outlook as different colored Tabs and entries. Now when printing daily calendars, only the Outlook entered entries show up.
    The MM calendars not merged in. So must print 5 different calendars for each day.
    Would like the MM cloud calendars to feed into Outlook calendar and be seen as one. And print all entries on 1 daily calendar.
    Tried, with MM support:
    highlighting MM calndar under file, and then right-clicking, selecting move, highlighting outlook calendar
    When that didn't work (looks like it merged the Outlook calendar into the 1 MM calendar I tried this with), they then said to highlight the MM calendar, export it, import it into Outlook through FileImport/Export. When I select File, there is no import/export
    choice.
    Also wonder how exporting would keep system dynamic so that future changes to MM calendars drop into Outlook 2007

    I'm trying to migrate a Palm Desktop calendar to iCal via vCal file. My Palm Desktop calendar has many categories, which got merged into a single calendar in iCal and the category information was no longer available. I would like to be able to retain category information after the migration (one iCal calendar for each Palm Dekstop category).

    Is there any existing tool that takes a single vCal file containing multiple event categories and generate multiple vCal files, one for each category? Or is there some other way of getting the results I want?

    Thanks for the reply. I have years of events in the Palm Desktop calendar so I'd prefer not to manually change the calendar assignment for every single event.     Thanks for the link, it answered part of my question but not all. Anyway I've managed to solve my query re iCal and contacts by setting up a new user account, exporting from one account and importing from another and allowing the new account shared admin access to all folders on the original account. Hopefully, moving forward iCloud should keep everything synced.

    I'm trying to use TFS Integration Tools to merge our team projects into one team project. We are a single team that is working on multiple projects and their integration requirements is making us realize we should have simply had it all under one team
    project in the beginning.
    The key change I want to make is to split one of the current team projects into multiple teams, one for each project. Then the intention is to merge all the work items from the other team projects into this one into their respective team's area.

    As you have found, (vertical) merging and filtering do not go together. The value of a merged area only lives in the top left cell of the area, the other cells are blank.

    One workaround might be to change the CSV file's extension from "csv" to "txt" and go through Excel's Text Import Wizard to import the file. This is the "From Text" button in the "Get External Data" panel of the "Data" ribbon. It allows for multiple delimiters
    and gives you a preview of the text as it will be imported.

    Stemming from a JBPM-2414 and JBPM-2506 I want to discuss JBPM-2414 separately. The original proposal in the jira issue showed a foreach activity separate from fork. At some point the collection iteration behavior got merged into fork for no reason other than "making it visible in the designer, now". In my view, the foreach and the fork behaviors respond to different needs and should not be merged.

    As precedents, I can think of BPEL 2 and its flow and forEach activities. The former provides static parallelism of multiple activities. The latter provides dynamic parallelism of a single activity; nothing prevents this single activity from being a flow. Giving each activity a single responsibility makes its behavior concise and simple to describe.

    I suggest we introduce a separate foreach activity instead of adding iteration semantics to fork. The binding and activity code that Maciej wrote is kept intact. Only one outgoing transition is allowed. The transition condition MAY refer to the variable specified in the var attribute. If the transition condition evaluates to false, the corresponding child execution does not leave the activity. If no child execution leaves the activity, an exception is thrown.

    Recently updated an Office 365 user from Outlook 2010 to 2013. Afterwards, user noticed pictures he had assigned to certain contacts were now showing for the wrong contacts. When we look at the details of an example user who has the wrong picture, we see
    thereare multiple entriesunder View Source, and that contact information from another individual have been merged with this individual. Interestingly, it only happens with contacts who had pictures assigned to them and are in the same
    mail domain - all other contacts from the same mail domain who also had a picture have their contact information merged with this one. See screenshot for an example.
    I guess my question is, how can I remove the incorrect Sources for each of these contacts? Anyone else run into this issue?

    We are seeing the same thing on multiple users. Even after we correct the issue it returns - almost always the same contacts and pictures. Out of curiosity do your users have iPhones or iPads? I have not seen this with any Android users
    but that doesn't mean that it is phone related.

    Hi, We are experiencing a problem in TFS.  I understand that this is a limitation (bug?) in TFS, but wondering if anyone's found a workaround for this yet. It is a web environment, and all assets are text only.  Our environment is as follows: We have a production branch, a staging branch (environment as live), a test branch, and a dev branch.  Further to this, whenever anyone's doing a change that needs to be isolated during dev, they make a temporary Task branch.  Process is: Task branches usually have multiple check-ins, then one merge to Dev, checked in and commented accordingly.  Then when certain tasks are requested in testing, this is merged into test.  Our Test environment is a workspace, so this does not need to be checked in yet, the changes are now represented in testing.  If the changes pass testing, they are checked in, and commented accordingly, and can be merged to Staging and Live when they are released.  The problem comes when a change does not pass testing.  Our process is to Undo the changes in the Test workspace, reverting Test to its original state.  Then we do more changes in the Task branch, check in, merge to Dev, check in.  When the task is requested in Testing again, we want to merge both the original check-in in dev and the bug-fix, into the Test workspace.  As TFS can only handle a contiguous set of changesets in one merge, this has to be two merge operations.  It is highly likely that they alter the same files, so this almost always leads to a conflict.  The known workaround is to check in between merges, however the point of this process is that the task is represented by just one check-in in the Test branch, to facilitate easy releasing to the live (and pseudo-live) environments. So I'm wondering if anyone has found a method of bypassing this limitation, whether this be a separate tool or a process that enables multiple, non-contiguous changesets to be merged into just one changeset in the workspace ready for check-in. Any suggestions?

Firstly, it appears that the control column's cell that has a merged group of check box controls, only applies the last condition of the merged group. As an example: from a repeating table's merged data, one column has a merged cell of yes/no checkboxs. When this is merged, only the last item of the merged group applies so, if Merged Item1=no, Merged Item2=no, Merged Item3=Yes then cell in its entirety reads as 'yes'.Secondarily, when I try to then take that control value (that should have had a one-to-one relationship to other repeating controls from the repating table) it applys my formatting to the entire merged cells contents, and not the individual element that needed the formatting.HOW can one apply conditional formatting to individually merged elements, and affect formatting on just element of the merged group, within the cell?     Here's the situation that we ran into....We have two release versions: 5.0 and 6.05.0 is in production and 6.0 is in dev currently.  In the meantime there is a call for a maintenance release off 5.0, which we call 5.1.  Obviously, we want these changes merged into 6.0.But, we don't want these changes merged into 5.0, because then 5.0 would not be representative of its original form.So....how do we go about merging the changes from 5.1 to 6.0?The only option I see so far is baseless merging from 5.1 to 6.0.  Since this scenario is pretty common we will be doing a lot of baseless merges.  I would like to stay away from this option if possible since it seems more complex and something that could result in more errors.Any thoughts on how to best manage this process?Thanks in advance!

    Hi, I have a table with only 3 columns. As I go down the rows some of them are merged into one long row and some are kept as a row of three cells.

    If I want to un-merge some of these previously merged rows I try the split cells button which splits the row into 4 cells instead of three thus adding an extra column unto the mix.

    All I want to do is for the cell to be split back into the format it was originally in. Is this not possible in Numbers?!

    Happy to hear my solution worked for you. I suppose there could be some "merge undo" button or command, especially when it's just a matter of connecting to surrounding cell edges. But if you think about it, several successive columns could have merged cells resulting in a brickwork pattern so that a defined match-up would be virtually impossible.

    Once users have the document, they will update the content area or image area. After the modification done, user will checkin/publish that document. At this time the original document needs to be merged with the changes of check In document.
    Merging order would be based on user commit order. If user 1 commit first, the order of content change of user1 would come first and then of user 2. I do not have idea whether its possible or not and what should be the approach for it.

    I have a query. I have 4 different RPDs defining 4 subject areas. They all have been developed in different local servers. Now i want to transfer all of them into a common development server. My conditions are :
    a) All RPDs should be merged to form a single RPD.
    b) There should be multilevel security mapping so that when the RPDs are merged one developer working in one subject area, the other guys work should not be hampered. To be vice there should not be any consistency error.

    My server is in windows 2003 environment.

    Hi, To mearge the RPD's, first create a master RPD and open that in Offline mode, go to File-select Merge then select the RPD's which you want to merge. This will merge the RPD information to single file.

    To make a single Subject Area, go to the presentation layer and merge the multiple SA to single manually.

    My problem is that, when I want to create a simple table in Word 2007, with, say 4 vertically merged (2 rows merged) columns to the left (i.e. 4 cells) and 4 none-merged columns (i.e. 8 cells) to the right and some rows below, I am not able to vertically align
    the 4 merged cells to the bottom. It seems like the merged cells have a bottom margin of some size... Funny enough, this margin seems to exist only at the bottom of the merged cells, neither at the top of the merged cells nor in the none-merged cells, this
    is happening...

    Could you please help me to make the bottom alignment happen! I'm not much into VBA, but maybe this could be a way, too...

    I want insert the filter but not the behaviour that this seems to imply.

    Perhaps it was EMC Document Sciences. Otherwise, you can achieve the same with virtual documents, except that publishing is not supported out-of-the-box (I believe there are add-on products for that).

    Microsoft had a program long ago that allowed for this. I believe it was MS Binder....this is the functionality i need. Are the any equivalents out there??

    Hi All,Here's the problem...We have a mainline-based branch system.  The two branches in active development are say, 1.0 and 2.0.  Both of them were branched from the trunk.A while some changes were checked into 1.0 and I merged them to the trunk.  However, I had to rollback the change using the tf powertool rollback command.Now when I try to reverse integrate the 2.0 changes into the trunk I get multiple file name collisions.  I know that I want to push all the changes 2.0 into the trunk, overwriting any changes in the trunk, if rquired (I know I am not losing any changes).However, the only options I am given during the 'Resolve' operation are 'Undo my local changes' and 'Ignore conflict'.  Neither (as I understand it) is the option I want. How can I resolve this? Any and all help will be appreciated!

    Thanks for the reply Richard.Good to know that we have this option available in Orcas.  I think the user should be given the tool with the understanding that he/she can screw up things if the merge isn't done properly.  As a user of an enterprise app I would rather be given this (even if it's not the best way to go) rather than not have an option at all.

    Hello autodesk community,I have a strange problem, max dosnt seem to like .obj files from blender which contain multiple separate objects. Im currently attempting to rig a mechas (robot) body, which needs to be in separate parts, being; l/r foot, l/r lower leg, l/r upper leg, pelvis and core - thus 8 separate objects in the .obj file. Problem is, the file will only open in max if Ive merged all the objects into 1 object in blender before exporting, or I import the file as a merged object. If its not all merged into 1 object it becomes all deformed. And not only is the resulting object deformed once imported, its also missing all of the other objects besides the core. Pelvis, legs and feet are nowhere to be seen!Heres the mesh in blender. Looks great! Heres it in max. What the?! Really scratching my head on this one.. Fyi Im using Blender 2.63 and Max 2012.     Now, in what sense do you mean merged? You can place the spreadsheet as a table, or you can save it as tab-delimited text or .csv and use it for a Data Merge project (think things like address labels).

    Actually we are working now on doing something that would solve your problem. We are actively working on reducing the load time of GateIn pages due to resource serving (js and css). Merging file is one of the feature we will provide.

    It will likely not be available in the next release 3.2.0 but rather later (we expect to do more frequent releases in 2012 with just a one or two "big" features).

    To define the particular order of the prompts all the prompts should be at the universe level or at the report level.

    As all the prompts defined at the universe level will appear first in alphabetical order and then the report level prompts will appear also sorted alphabetically.

    In your case if possible create the prompt of Address at the report level and other prompts at the universe level it will automatically appear as the last one when you refresh all the queries.

    Else you can change the prompt string to define the particular order.

    Having done a bit more research it would seem that this is because When MRefBuilder is run against a merged DLL it only returns information relating to the first assembly that was merged into that DLL. Therefore Sanbox only generates documentation for this.

    Hi, I'm fairly new to VBA. I have a workbook containing several sheets that I'm trying to merge altogether onto a new sheet.
    The goal is to work off that merged sheet as a source for pivot table reporting.
    I’m 99% there, but hitting a snag with copying and pasting appropriate ranges for the datasets from each sheet.
    To get my range, I’m using this:

    (1) Set rng = sht.Range(sht.Cells(1, 2), sht.Cells(65536, 2).End(xlUp).Resize(, colCount))

    I’m placing the range of data into my newly created merged data sheet using this:
    (2) trg.Cells(65536, 3).End(xlUp).Offset(1).Resize(rng.Rows.Count, rng.Columns.Count).Value = rng.Value
    I’m dumping the information over 3 columns because I’m using columns A and B for calculations.

    This is where I hit the rhubarb. In column B on my merged sheet, I want to list the source sheet name for the data.
    To do that I’m using:
    (3) trg.Cells(65536, 2).End(xlUp).Offset(1).Resize(rng.Rows.Count, 1).Value = SheetName

    Here’s the problem. I want to define the extent of the source range on any given source sheet based on the last data containing cell in column J, the 10 column instead.
    If I change:
    (1) - (4) Set rng = sht.Range(sht.Cells(1, 2), sht.Cells(65536, 10).End(xlUp).Resize(, colCount))

    then on my merged data sheet the column B containing the SheetName becomes unaligned with the rest of the transposed data.

    Incidentally, the above is all part of a FOR loop that cycles through each worksheet to perform those tasks.

    This is a classic 1% of time programming and 99% debugging and it’s driving me crazy.Your help is much appreciated.

    Hi All,

    Currently we've got a number of VSE Exclusion policies with both common unique exclusions across the various policies.

    We have decided to help simplify our ePO management, we want to have a single VSE Exclusion polisy that encompases all common unique exclusions into a single policy. The business has accepted the risk of 'obsolete' exclusions applying to machines (e.g. SQL specific exclusions applying to machines without SQL).

    This has been considered to be the lesser of two evils... If only ePO allowed dynamic merging of policies on the client side like Active Directory group policies, things would be so much more simple secure!

    Does anybody have a good method to merge multiple polices into a single policy? I'm expecting we'll end up with around 200-300 exclusions after merging all of our seperate policies, so would really prefer not manually adding every one via the GUI. I've considered exporting the policies to XML manually merging them before re-importing; however the pain point in doing this would be identifying the common settings across the multiple policies not adding them multiple times in the 'merged' policy.

    Bummer... Was hoping someone had written a utility for this (or perhaps knew of a McAfee internal utility).

    Thinking I'll be able to do something in Excel to import the XML as a table, filter out the policies I care about, the remove duplicate exclusions. Will probably have to use a text editor for creating the new XML file based on the deduplicated exclusions to make sure the format is correct though.

    I'm using Notepad++ for editing the XML (handles language highlighting, tag group folding etc...); but do you have another XML editor you could recommend?

    Is there a way to shelve multiple merges into one shelveset?
     
    Let me explain. Our release mechanism (simplified) uses a two branch system: a development branch and a release branch. Developers may only add changes in the dev. branch. In time, changesets from the dev. branch are cherry-picked and merged into the release branch. This system is working very well for us, and I only wish to add to it.
     
    The improvements I see is to compile the release branch with the set of merges before checking-in the merges into the release branch. Because the changesets are not continuous, merges are done in blocks and check-ins are preformed between the blocks. Is there a way around this such that all the blocks are merged as one pending change?
     
    I created a utility that shelves each block and merges them into one shelveset. Unfortunately, the pending change in new shelveset is “edit.”. I take this to mean that the merge information is lost. Is there a way to add the merge information into the shelveset?
     
    [ASIDE: I found out that the tfpt unshelve does not work with pending changes that is “merge, edit”.]
     
    So, the main question is how do I shelve multiple merges such that the multiple merges creates only ONE set of pending changes to check-in? I hope that makes sense!

    That was what I planned to do initially. However, since we already have the dev - release branches established with existing releases, I just did not see a simply way to create a staging branch from the dev branch that would parallel the release branch. I would have to take all the merged changesets from dev to release to create the new staging branch that is a child of the dev branch. Is there a utility to clone a branch, that is to create a sibling branch with all its merge information intact? 
     
    Ideally, I would like to branch from the release branch. In fact, that is basically what we are theoretically doing. Unfortunately, actually creating branches from the release branch will not create the relationshp structure we want -- that developers can only develop on the dev branch.
     
    What is the best way to create a staging branch given that the dev/release branches already exists? Is there a way to do this without needing to re-create the release branch?

    For example I have something like this on sales order:

    On delivery i have multiple line, its ok but when i create invoice, this two line was merged into one line with 14 pcs. Its bad. Customer want invoice with both lines. I can split this lines on two invoices, but its not a solution.

    How exactly did you go about this "merge"? If you used Outlook's import/export tool to merge from old .PST files, you very likely corrupted your Outlook profile. What you should probably do is:

    1. Start with a
    fresh Outlook Profile .
    2. With Outlook closed on the old machine, copy your .PST files from the old machine to the new machine and put them in a folder where they will NOT overwrite any existing files.
    3. Start Outlook 2010 on the new machine and Reconnect your old Outlook data files
    using 'File tab|Open|Open outlook Data Files'.
    4. Once that's done, you can drag and drop contents to suit.

    Or, simply use the shared drive as the repository for the project source files. Then each of the writers copy down the latest version for editing on their local machine. Each of our projects were exclusive to a certain writer, so there was never an issue with reconciling dueling versions.

    We did it that way for over four years, until we started using the RSC product bundled with RH8.

    Whichever method you choose, the same protocol applies as Rick said:

    Work the project only on your local machine.Store the project, when not in use, on a server.

    The iTunes library on my Macbook Pro (late 2009) is titled "Previous iTunes Libraries" and has 10043 items spanning two directories. It seems iTunes references two /Music/iTunes/iTunes Music folders (/iTunes/iTunes Music and /iTunes/iTunes Music 4). When I open iTunes all playlists are there and all music is located. Can the two libraries be merged?I want to copy the entire MP library to a 2tb external drive so I can run it from a new Mac Mini and keep them synced. I tried copying them before but when I opened iTunes on the Mini it opened fine but instead of the 10043 files (~58gb) on the MP I only had 4752 files (~22gb) on the Mini. Thanks for any help.

    I tried the Consolidate command and it did nothing to change the situation. The article submitted by cabeandsuz is quite good. It offers good insight into how iTunes works. I followed those instructions to upgrade to the new iTunes file structure but it didn't work, nor did it combine these two libraries. It would seems roughly half my ibrary is referenced. I don't know what to do to combine these libraries and I'm still open to any suggestions anyone may have. Thanks all.

    I'm looking to combine 8 seperate datasets into one large dataset. They each contain the same information just for different time periods.

    Upon first attempt I used the merge function. But this can't be right.

    For example; dataset 1 has 232,000 observations, dataset 2 has 500,000 observations. I would want my 1 + 2 datasets to hold 732,000 pbservations. But under the merged function it only holds 232,000.

    Hi,
    I have got a word document with tables in it. This is going to be sent to users to fill in the cells in the table.
    In one of the tables the user can enter multiple rows into the table depending on how much information they want to add.
    I would like to first get this information into a message box and then I will go from there.
    The first 2 columns are headings so don't need to be captured. there are 7 columns which need to be captured so from row 3 down depending on how many rows there are. I can do this using with statements and a loop (Next). The only problem is that the last
    row has been merged into one cell for the user to enter any other comments.
    So basically, can you do a loop that doesn't record the bottom row, so that I could do this separate. Or alternatively could I make it so that it records all of the rows but make it so that it knows that the bottom row only has 1 cell not 7?
    I am new to VBA but I do know the basic concepts.

    Re 1 2. Instead of:
    Dim r, cell1, cell2, cell3, cell4, cell5, cell6, cell7, cell8
    you should use:
    Dim r As Long, Rng as Range
    Dim cell1 As String, cell2As String, cell3As String, cell4As String
    Dim cell5As String, cell6As String, cell7As String, cell8As String
    Re 3. You can see what I mean by changing:
    cell1 = .Cells(1).Range.Text
    to:
    cell1 = cell1 vbTab .Cells(1).Range.Text
    This will preserve the contents of cell1 as the code iterates each loop.
    I'd have thought the rest was self-explanatory.
    As for whether the new code is any better, that depends on what you're trying to do - which you haven't clarified.Cheers

    Outlook for Mac simply does not use PST or anything equivalent for external storage (it can import from PST and .olm but that’s all it will do with them).
    Everything has to be stored in the Outlook identity (a big database in your user account).

    Background:
    I want to print less than 1,000 postcards so it is more economic to do in-house. My paper (cardstock) is letter size, micro-perfed into two even, no-bleed postcards, each 8.5" wide x 5.5" high when separated.

    Problem:
    I can't get data merge to give me different records on the top and bottom postcards. I have used the Multiple Records option and toyed with the settings. I have checked the Help, Knowledge Base, and searched the Forum. What I get is John Doe on both cards on page one and Sally Doe appears on both cards on page 2. I have tried:

    1. formatting an 8.5x11 page with two layouts and record sets on the document page (result: same name on top and bottom card)

    2. two layouts on a master page (result: same name on top bottom card)

    3. an 8.5x5.5 page on the master and the document (result: great looking postcards but the merged doc pages are half-letter size also)

    4. even tried my original doc to be a half-letter size, then change the merged doc to full letter. (result: This really does NOT work. Even if I changed the location of the data on the merged master, the merged doc pages did not follow suit as usually happens. If I pasted in a second layout on the bottom of the master in the merged doc, my doc pages displayed the orig merg {now in the middle of the newly enlarged page} along with the raw data fields. Sigh.)

    Obviously, I need step by step instructions. My desired outcome is to have John Doe on the top postcard and Sally Doe on the bottom postcard (Bill, Susan, and the rest of the gang following behind on the subsequent pages). Please help!

    I don't work for Adobe and have no insider knowledge on this, but my instinct is that Data Merge is viewed very much like Print Booklet, a low-grade accommodation for the small number of users who need to do limited sorts of variable data import. I would expect users with lots of need for VDP to use more robust solutions from third parties or XML.

    I find Data Merge to be really good at certain things, like address labels, building directories, or even numbering tickets on a short run, sort of like you can use Word to do a simple poster, but once you get into more complex work you need more specialized tools.

    IMO, Tom's solution is easy and expandable to more variables. However, note that your original post shows that FIELD3 is also part of COMMON. If that is the case, you will need to get rid of it. In its shortest form, the DATA step could be:

    data want;

    field3=0;

    merge common (drop=field3) link;

    by index;

    run;

    There are further complications if any of the additional fields in LINK are actually character instead of numeric.

    Finally, the result you are seeking is unusual. If you post some idea of why you need it, there may be other ways to get you where you need to go.

    I've run into a situation where deleted files are not being properly recognized when a merge occurs. Here's the issue. In our parent source tree, we checked-in third-party source files (500+ files in multiple directories). A child branch was created from the parent. The third-party updated its source files so the latest bits were downloaded. Since there are so many files, it was decided to delete all the checked-in files and directories from the parent branch. The same extact directory structure was recreated and checked back into the parent. This all worked. We decided to the merge the parent branch into the child branch and that's where the problems happened. Everything merged without a problem. We then tried to check the merged files back in and the resolve conflict dialog appeared. All of the third-party files and directories that we had recreated in the parent appeared as a conflict in the child branch because files by that name already existed. This is confusing to us. We deleted the files and recreated thenm in the parent branch. Why didn't the files in the child branch get deleted and then recreated? Our only options are to ignore the conflict or undo local changes. If we ignore the conflict or undo local changes, it appears that the files from the parent branch don't get merged in.What is the expected behavior when a file is deleted, recreated and then merged into a parent or a child?

    You're seeing the expected behavior.  We're considering adjusting it -- and the UI for resolving the conflict will be much much better -- but for now it is what it is.The best workaround IMO is to merge up to the changeset where you deleted everything, checkin, then do a catchup merge.  (This is the behavior we're thinking of moving to.)You can also do a baseless merge on the colliding items as described here: http://blogs.msdn.com/mrod/archive/2006/08/25/filename-collision-conflict-that-won-t-resolve-through-the-ui-part-1-of-2.aspx

    I have a Spatial table for street segments (lines or mult-lines, no points or polys) with records like below. I wanted to merge the multple segments for the same street name like the "KNIGHT ST BRIDGE" into one segment record/entity. The multiple segments for a same street may be connected or not connected (could be multiple parts of disjoined segments). What I want is to merge only those segments of a same street name that are connected into one joined segment, because I want to display just one label on one long connected and merged segment.

    How could I do this? should I use sdo_aggr_concat_lines, or sdo_aggr_union or SDO_GEOM.SDO_UNION? please provide a script example.

    changed.... every XML file is carrying completely different features and every single one need to go to a undeveloped new table in SQL server. Here are two major issues I am trying to get over with!!!
    First...I am trying to import those xml files which do not have XSD generated yet... So I really want to use
    XML Source in Data Flow Task but sadly... XSD for each XML file will be different... And after some research online... seems like
    script task is the only solution tohandle those XML files with different schema involved? But any way to combine script task intoData Flow Task so thatgenerating XSD part from Data Flow Task can be retained?
    Second... some of those XML files after assigning the XSD will generate dozens of outputs while some of those generate only one... Any way that I can merge all outputs into one table for each single XML file? Ijust learnthow to deal with themseparately
    and manually (use Merger Join for those multiple-output ones)but are there anyway to do it automatically or furthermore make all of those happen like in aForeach Loop? The reason I am trying to do it automatically is
    that those outputs are still changing dynamically (sometimes fewmore output sometimes few less output)...

    Hello all,

    I have been "messing" with RoboHelp for the past week and I had a few questions. First though, I'll give you a bit of information about my project. I have been given several Word document files that will be merged into an online help system via RoboHelp. So, you can imagine how that is. For now, I only have two documents merged into one, but more will be coming later. I'm using the import document feature, so it's converting a print medium into web which I dislike from the start. Does it make sense to "reengineer" the help to fit the web?

    Besides that issue, it needs to be setup so context sensitive help works. If the current format will work where it basically looks like a word document online, I have the issue of setting up the CSH. To properly accomplish CSH, do I have to create a topic for each item to be mapped? Currently, the topics are broken down and just tagged in several places. It doesn't make sense for other information to be loaded with CSH if you only specifically want to know about that one thing. This brings up another question though. Can you have multiple topics displayed on one page?

    I'm thinking I probably know the answers and the right thing to do is to reorganize the project so it's suitable for the web. But, hopefully there is a better way.

    I maintain my calendars on iCloud. I have six calendars (mine, my wife, etc.) that are properly merged and displayed in iCloud. All of my devices can view the merged calendars properly. But I can not print a copy of the merged calendar from any device (MacBookPro, iPad, PC, iPhone). All I get is a list of the data in a useless form. On the screen I only get a blanked out display. Going to Outlook doesn't work because it does not print the merged calendars. Any ideas?

    I assume that strMergedDocName is something that is a valid path\field name.
    It may be a timing issue that you could overcome by using an OnTime construction. However try using

    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.

    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    Hi, 1. I have an invoice that matched to the PO receipt for asset item. 2. This invoice is in foreign currency. 3. This invoice has 8 Lines, and each lines has two distributions line account. One line for the accrual, one line for the Exchange rate variance 4. Each line represents different PO receipt lines 5. When I run the mass additions create, this invoice arrived in Prepare Mass Additions form in Fixed Asset with 16 Mass Additions data according to the number of invoice distributions 6. This invoice has two queue in Mass Additions. "New" for the actual receipt item amount. "Merged" for the exchange rate variance amount. The exchange rate variance are merged automatically. 7. I also want to merge the "New" queue for this invoice. Therefore, in one of the Mass additions line with "New" Status, I clicked "Merge" button and merged all the "New" queue mass additions for this invoice. 8. Therefore, now this invoice has 15 "Merged" queue and 1 "On Hold" queue. I then changed the "On Hold" queue into "Post" queue. 9. When I ran post mass additions, only nine mass additions are posted. The other 7 are still stuck in "Merged" queue. The stuck mass additions are the exchange rate variances that merged automatically. 10. When I look into the Source lines in Asset Workbench, this asset only consist of 9 lines, not 16 lines. 11. Meanwhile, the merged queue still stuck in the Mass Additions Summary form and cannot be deleted nor posted. Can you help me solve this problem? Is it supposed to be happen if we merged the mass additions which has exchange rate variance in the invoice? Regards,

    DB:2.68:Match-Frame With Merged Clip Doesn't Work cs


    I have a merged clip forged from one video clip (with four channels of audio) and two audio clips, so the resulting merged clip has six channels of audio.
    Merged via in-point, everything's in synch, fine.

    Edit the merged clip into timeline.
    Match frame.

    Problem:
    It matches to a clip with the same name as my merged clip... but it's not my merged clip because it's only got the four audio channels from my video source clip.

    I've tried different clips, tried linked or unlinked, same result.

    To boot, if in the timeline I select only audio channel #5 (which was from one of the audio source clips) and match-frame, it matches to the same pseduo-master clip, but, is several frames or seconds off.

    Ideas anyone?

    I know, this is a real pain. FCS just doesn't like sep audio and video.
    I have cut a film that I used merge clips for all the sync rushes. Now I am trying a workflow of making a new QT of the merged files and then using that new QT. However, I am importing the new merged QT into a new project as lots of merged clips seems to cause project files to expand to huge sizes. (check out other threads on this issue)

    Hello,

    Here is the situation we are having difficulty with. We have 10 cost centres which all fall under one area "Sales"

    We currently have working a dynamic recipient list which can send out a merged pdf to each cost center filtering there data with no problem.

    What we are having issues with is creating a publication where we send out a single merged pdf to the "Sales" area and it includes only those cost centres in the file. For some reason when using the dynamic recipient crystal distribution lists it is still splitting up the cost centres per pdf.

    Does anyone have any ideas with this?

    Hi David,

    We have just done this via Webi rather than Crystal but our workaround would cover your requirement also.

    We use the Person Responsible characteristic rather than Cost Center for report distribution. We had quite a number of Cost center managers who were responsible for more than one cost center. Therefore we just used the person responsible as our Personalisation rather than cost center.

    Libraries combine several folders into 1 view. If you want all fines in 1 folder, move them to 1 folder.

    When copying and pasting multiple exclusion groups of radio buttons from page to page, the different exclusion groups get merged into one.

    I just tried two of the suggested solutions, adding a text field and then pasting the exclusion group, and dragging the exclusion group to the page with the existing group (I was actually initially trying to move an existing group from one page to another).

    Both methods cause the moved group to merge with an existing group on the page. If anyone comes up with a working fix, I'd be curious to hear about it.

    Hi everyone,

    Currently we're looking into using multiple authors for a merged web help project.

    So we have

    Front end "master" project

    Slave project 1

    Slave project 2

    etc.

    We want to be able to check out each slave project to a different author then when they're all finished check them back in so lead author can compile the whole project. It seems our options are either source safe which our developers use or robosource.

    Does anyone have experience of using source safe? If so what problems have you encountered if any please?

    We are of course creating and editing locally on a real folder off the C drive. The source safe et al are for storage only...

    The short answer to your question is 'Yes'. You could use an includetext field combined with a mergefield to provide the document name. The principles involved are similar to those involved with merging graphics - seehttp://www.gmayor.com/mail_merge_graphics.htm
