    I have a PXI-8186 Embedded Controller with a 6515, 6025, and 1409

monitor lost communication with the processor. There's no way to
recover this lock-up except power the system off and back on. Has
anyone have this problem with their system?

    DB:3.81:Pxi-8186 Embedded Controller f8

    Thanks for the reply Tong,

Has this acquisition been working fine previously? It could be a memory issue with the LabVIEW code, i.e. building an array of data values which eventually is too large to be handled by the memory on the 8186. Since this crash is not occuring when the controller is not executing it's long-running acquisition this is likely the problem. It might be worthwhile to use one of the LabVIEW shipping examples for continuous acquisition and see if those crash as well. If not, than it's most likely an issue with memory management in your LabVIEW code.
If you open up LabVIEW and go to Help Find Examples Hardware Input and Output DAQmx Analog Measurements Voltage Cont AcqGraph Voltage-Int Clk.vi this is a nice simple example which definitely should not crash your controller even if it's running for long periods of time.

If this shipping example also crashes your controller, it may be time to try a complete restore of your controllers original factory settings.

Please let me know if you have any further questions regarding this issue.

First, verify that NI-VISA is installed on the RT system. You can verify this by highlighting your controller under the Remote Systems section and clicking on the Software tab.Next, highlight your controller under the Remote Systems section and click on the VISA Options tab. After doing so, highlight the VISA Settings option from the feature tree and make sure that this controller is configured to "Auto find every GPIB-VXI" device.Lastly, take a look at the following KnowledgeBase for information on accessing your GPIB Port from MAX:http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/63CBCB0F23C90CE086256DE8005B5D30?OpenDocumentHope this helps. Sorry for the confusion. I had made a

Would this produce a warning in LabVIEW, a Windows pop-up, or a system crash? Would this error occur in the background or only during instrument communication? Would this cause other LabVIEW or TestStand processes to hang or just PXI communcation?

I don't want to take production systems down for a driver upgrade if it's not necessary. So I would appreciate the feedback of anyone that has experienced this issue first hand.

    DB:3.22:Cannot Execute A Vi On Pxi-1042 dz

The most recent version of LabVIEW Real-Time is 7.1 (http://www.ni.com/support/labview/lvtool.htm#real-time). It's possible that LabVIEW RT will work using a host computer running 2010, and the target running 7.0, but it's likely that this combination hasn't been extensibly tested. This is because LabVIEW 7.0/7.1 was no longer having any further development by the time LabVIEW 2010 came out, so inter-communication between them may hit some snags, as you seem to have found. I'm going to look into whether it's possible to get these two systems working together, but in the meantime you might want to try another combination of software. If you want to continue development on your Mac with Real-Time, you could try to get a hold of LabVIEW 7.1 for MAC OS. I'm not sure specifically what hardware you have, but Real-Time 7.0 supports only the devices listed in this article:

Data Acquisition Support on Mac OS Xhttp://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/24E9CAF832E14A9E86256D260074A699

Unfortunately, since development was stopped for Real-Time on MAC OS after LabVIEW 7.1 you might be restricted to using Windows to do further development for your Real-Time PXI. I hope this was able to answer some of your questions!

This has been a consistent problem for me when trying to solve problems - it's very difficult to find relevant tutorials/examples and so the only way to get answers to very basic questions is to post to this forum, which I'm sure bugs the engineers who probably have real work to do. NI would do very well to make their tutorials more accessible and complete.

We have several Windows XP systems in our production environment, most of which have NI-VISA 5.4.1 installed on them. (We can't use 5.14 as it isn't compatible with some PXI modules that we use). Recently, the systems have been locking up, with the service "NI System Web Server" taking 100% of the available CPU. Disabling the service doesn't seem to have any adverse effects, but I was wondering if this is a known issue (possibly with a solution?), and if disabling the service permanently will cause any problems.

DB:3.04:Pxi-8431/2 Always Times Out During Write Or Read 38

    HI Jason,

At this point we have "solved" the issue although it would be nice to really figure out what caused it. To fix it we choose different interrupts for both Z-tec cards and the NI cards were given a different IRQ as well. To answer your questions..

    1. The Z-tec boards still worked on when the NI cards were not working

    2. I don't remember 100% but I believe the NI cards still did not function when the Z-tec cards were installed but disabled.

    3. They were just installed in the system, not being used.

    4. I don't remember checking the CPU usage but it seemed as if they were. When we tried to stop an application that was trying to use the 8431 cards it took a long time to stop it or perform any other function so I would assume the CPU was bogged down when that was happening but again I don't remember checking.

Hopefully this will help get to the root cause or at least save someone some time.

    Regards,

    Dave

This didn't boot up, either.

Here's a summary of my situation:

An old system has PXI-8105 running WinXP
A new system has PXI -8115 running Win7
A hard drive (with Win7) from the PXI-8115 won't boot on the PXI-8105
A hard drive (with WinXP) from the PXI-8105 won't boot on the PXI-8115

What is different between the two PXI controllers that keeps me from swapping hard drives?

    Hello,

    i'm running a PXI System with a PXI-1042 chassis, using a PXI-8184Real Time controller, a PXI-8422 RS-232 card and a PXI-7811R FPGA.

Now, when i bring up MAX, the resource names (under Devices Interfaces) of those PXI cards are named the following:

    PXI1::14::INSTR (NI-7811R)

    PXI1::15::INSTR (NI PXI-8422/4 (RS-232))

However, if i replace the PXI-8184 (RT controller) by another controller, i.e. PXI-8196, the resource names come up as:

    PXI16::14::INSTR (NI-7811R)

    PXI16::15::INSTR (NI PXI-8422/4 (RS-232))

I'm trying to figure out where this difference comes from. Any idea?

    Thanks.

This may be inconsistent, but it should not pose a problem. You should not rename the PCIBusNumber. Please use VISA Aliases or the VISA Find Resources function to program without ever referencing the VISA Resource Name.

    Hello Seamus,

Thank you for your response. I have managed to get it communicating with the host PC now (albeit in safe mode - won't communicate in 'normal' mode).

I am thinking that it is because I haven't configured my PXI system. When I identify the PXI system as a PXI-8140 RT series and the chassis as a PXI-1031, the chassis appears as unconnected with a message

'This chassis has been identified but is not described in the pxisys.ini for this system. This chassis was not present in the system during PCI enumeration'

It seems as if you may not have replaced the hard drive with one that is still compatible. The error you see is coming from the BIOS, most likely when attempting to enumerate hardware resources (this is an educated guess). You may want to plug back in your old hard disk to verify that this isn't some hardware failure that is new (because of possibly not grounding yourself when changing the hard drive, static electricity can destroy hardware!!!) and see if the new hardware is using resources that the BIOS cannot allocate correctly.

Ok, I've installed A LOT of software anxious to get my PXI up and running. Now for the moment of truth and MAX can't even find my controller.

The console out of my PXI-8108 states "Invalid System Disk. Replace the disk, and then press any key". I've gone through the installation and troubleshooting guides for my chassis and my controller. I'veunset and reset my controller and removed unnecssary modules/cables hoping the PXI willboot into RT. No luck.

The PXI-8108 user manual states that I can recover my OS by using the "Recovery CD included withyour controller" [Document ID: 2ZKC02OK]. I did NOT receive any CD labeled "Recovery CD". I onlyreceived "NI PXI Platform Services" and "NI LabVIEW RT Target Software". How can I get my PXI to boot and why don't I have a Recovery CD??

    Craig

DB:2.95:Pxi Invalid System Disk Boot Failure 8d

Based on the content on your message, it sounds as if you are intending to use your PXI-8108 as a LabVIEW RT target. To enable this feature, go into BIOS Setup, go to the LabVIEW RT tab, and set Boot Configuration to be LabVIEW RT.

After you change the setting and reboot, what you should see happen is that the system will attempt to load LabVIEW RT from disk. If it's found, great. If not, then the system will roll over into LabVIEW RT safe mode automatically. This is the typical flow you would see a brand new system that has no software installed. At this point, you should see that the system is in LabVIEW RT and either has an IP address assigned via DHCP, or an IP address of 0.0.0.0. In either case, the system should now be visible in MAX and you can proceed with assigning an IP address and deploying the LabVIEW RT OS and driver software from MAX to your PXI-8108 RT target, all from MAX.

Also, regarding the Recovery CD you mentioned, that is a Windows OS recovery CD. You would not have or need one unless you ordered a Windows OS on your PXI controller.

Otherwise it lists both devices as Device 1 and Device 2 when I have a monitor hooked up to the controller and only assigns an IP to Device 2 (8231) unless I only have Device 1 available.

DB:2.94:Viopendefaultrm Command Is Locking Up Rf Test System xx

Here is some additional information on the system configuration. The IVI driver is used to interface with a device on the GPIB bus (RF drawer). The vi that is being launched dynamically uses VISA calls to interface with a serial device (fan controller). The RF drawer session is opened first and the IVI driver does not reset the device. The vi for the fan controller is then loaded dynamically and the viOpenDefaultRM, viFindRsrc and viFindNext commands happen before any of the code inside the vi even executes. The vi has no interaction with the GPIB bus at all.Once the fan controller vi is loaded, we return back to the IVI driver to start configuring the RF drawer. This is when the drawer resets. The only activity on the bus between the RF drawer initialize and its first configuration commands is related to the viOpenDefaultRM, viFindRsrc and viFindNext commands that LV is sending out. These are doing something funny on the bus that is causing a reset.

I also have tried putting SM#1 in slot #6, and the system saw the other 3 modules, but not SM#1. (I only tries this configuration once).

I have attempted removing the /data file (as suggested in another post), and have removed reinstalled DAQ-MX (version 8.1), along with NI-POWER and NI_SWITCH.

Hi Chris,Thankyou for posting on the National Instruments Discussion Forums. It seems like you have exhausted most debugging tools on this problem. I can only make two suggestions:- Change the computer the PXI chassis interfaces to - connect the 8331 to another desktop and see if you see the same effect- Change the PXI chassis if you have another one- If none of these make any difference, your Switch Module maybe damaged and requires repair. You will need to create a phone support request from ni.com/support in order to get this repair processed. Make sure you have your switch card's serial number at hand when you call in.Hope this helps!

If you follow these step you can find what the Access and Active LED mean: go to the national instruments folder under programs, look for NI-SCOPE, Documentation and click on: NI-High speed digitizers help then go to devices-5114 Overview-NI PXI-5114 Front Panel. I’ve been researching trough our database and I don’t find any know issues with the 5114 so If this does not help I will suggest calling in 1-866-275-6964 for further assistance. DB:2.90:How Can I Get Max (Labtop) To See My Pxi System? s8

I have a PXI system consisted of PXI 8184 (Microcontroller) and PXI 6552. I wish to run LabView 8 applicationon my labtop and run it and see how the PXI device respond to my application. TO establish the communication I read that I can use a CAT5 crossover cable or a hub. I couldn't get the PXI system to show up under Remote Systems in MAX residing in my labtop.
How can I solve this problem can any body clue me on that?
    Thanks

DB:2.90:How Can I Get Max (Labtop) To See My Pxi System? s8

    Hi,

Do you simply wish to transfer data between your laptop and the PXI?, OR
Do you wish to run your application on the laptop and simultaneously see the front panel on the PXI?, OR
Do you wish to run the application on the PXI (after maybe having developed it on the laptop) while seeing the PXI 'transparently' from your laptop?

You may get a quick start from here:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/3003B0E10C3C71E286256CAD0070FCAA?OpenDocument

If that does not help, pls describe your requirement and system config comprehensively.

    Hi Raj,

It is possible to simulate devices within Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX). Including PXI modules in which you can assign multiple modules to a chassis. What modules are you wishing to simulate?

Also if you havent done any simulation of devices i have found a link that can help you make a start. You can create simulation tasks to use in LabVIEW.

Please let me know how you get on and if you have any other questions please post back.

Hi allI have PXI 8186 embedded controller, when unconfigured the system boots up completely and can be seen in MAX, after i assign the IP address by selecting "obtain IP address from DHCP server" MAX asks if i want to reboot the PXI. but after the PXI reboots with a valid IP address and when it starts the LABview RT engine the system reboots again, this time it displays "reboot due to system error" on the screen and then again reboots and finally stops rebooting with the same message displayed on the screen. Hi Laurel,

Thanks for letting the resolution be known!

For future reference, to restore the operating system use Phoenix Firstware. Phoenix Firstwareuses a small, protected area of your hard drive to store an image of the OS provided to you at the time of shipment. Should you need to restore your system OS to its original condition, you may access that image by pressing and holding the F4 key (on the PXI-8186, PXI-8187, PXI-8195, or PXI-8196) when video first appears during the boot process.

My application programmatically finds all of my PXI devices using the VISA Find Resources VI with the following regular expression:

This works with my built application on a PXI-8186 controller with LabVIEW installed, but when I created an installer to put it on another PXI-8186 controller without the LabVIEW development system, none of my DaqMX devices show up in my list of VISA resources. They all show up in MAX, however. I even tried creating a simple app that just has the routine which gets the resource list. Ironically, the only PXI device that shows up in the list is a ZT1000PXI made by ZTEC Corp. I also have a number of PXI-4437s and PXI-6120s in the chassis. I tried setting the PXI option in MAX to report all PXI devices, not just registered ones, but that had no effect.

This is a Windows 2000 OS running on a PXI-8186, with DaqMX 8.5.0f3 and NI_VISA Runtime V4.1, and LabVIEW Runtime V8.2.1.

Does anyone have a clue why this isn't working? I've tried uninstallng and reinstalling NI-VISA Runtime, but it didn't matter.

DB:2.88:Built Application Can't Find Daqmx Devices With Visa Find Resource Vi ax

Just for grins, I tried installing NI-488.2, because the system was not recognizing the built-in GPIB of the 8186. After installation, I went into MAX and could see all my PXI devices again. I then went in and checked the 'Show all devices accessible to VISA' option and exited the program. When I start up my application, I am now able to see all of the PXI devices. I guess that's good, but I'm left wondering what made this work. There must be something happening with the installation. I don't know if it's a bad interaction with pre-existing NI software, or something else.

I have a system with a MXI-4 and PXI-1045 chassis. On a separate PC I'm trying to set up NI-MAX to simulate the hardware resources so I can work on the software. When I identify the PXI System chassis 1 as a PXI-1045 I get a warning: "This chassis has been identified but is not described in the pxisys.ini for this system." DB:2.86:What Driver Do I Need To Configure A Pxi-1045 Chassis In Ni Max? 3d

    Hi Barry,

I take it that you are indeed identifying one of your PXI busses as a PXI chassis, in order to make it appear that the chassis is actually in your system. This is forcing MAX to look at PXI bus and consider it a PXI chassis. This does not err for the PXI 1042 but does with the PXI 1045 due to hardware differences between the two, namely the PXI 1045 is a multi segment chassis where as the PXI 1042 is a single segment. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to simulate a PXI chassis; this currently is not a feature in MAX, the method you are using is an unsupported procedure.

Either way, simulated devices cannot make use of advanced timing abilities like sharing triggers and clocks via the PXI trigger lines. Your best bet is to name your devices accordingly on your development machine so that you reference the right devices when you move to the actual hardware. Pay attention to routes that involve signals to or from PXI trigger lines and if you have any devices that need the PXI system timing slot’s special routing abilities.

For some reason our PXI-4072 is locking up and returning the status code 0xBFFA4011. There is no input to the module when this occurs. Any suggestions?

DB:2.86:Nidmm Pxi-4072 Fails To Initialise jm

Daren,This is expected behavior due to an abnormal termination of your CVI exe when two processes are running (that is, when both your CVI exe and MAX are running) and one of the process is terminated without closing correctly the session to the PXI-4072.You would get error BFFA4011 if you:1. Open MAX (process 1) and run an action that opens a session to the PXI-4072 (like Self-Test, Reset, or just expanding "Devices and Interfaces", which opens a session to the DMM to retrieve information from the board, like the calibration information)2. Run your CVI exe (process 2) and terminate it inapropriately3. Try to run Self-Test, or Reset, etc in MAX.Throughout all this time both processes were running so the memory allocated by DMM never gets released appropriately. You would NOT see this error if you:1. Run your CVI exe and terminate it inapropriately2. Try to run again your CVI exeYou will see that under this circumstance you do not get the error saying that the device is already in use by another process. If you are debugging your CVI exe and you are planning on terminating the application without closing the session appropriately using niDMM_Close, use one of the following options to avoid getting this error:1. Before terminating your CVI exe let it close the session to the PXI-4072 using niDMM_Close2. If you terminate your CVI exe without closing the session, make sure you close MAX afterwards. Then you can re-open MAX to run Self-Test, Reset, etc.3. Make sure MAX is closed before you begin debugging your CVI exe. This way, after you terminate it abnormally (without calling niDMM_Close) you can open MAX and run Self-Test, Reset, etc without getting the BFFA4011 error. Please reply to this post if you need further assistance. At other workplaces with controllers 8175 after 5 years were also marked by similar problems that subsequently resulted in the release of controller failure.

Hi Jason, you can use two 7833Rs in the same chassis without any issues. You will need to open up a reference for each FPGA device. We actually use two FPGA boards in the same chassis for some of our benchmarks. For some reason installing Vision Acquisition Software 8.5.1 created the issue by setting itself as the default driver for the network board. So go to "manage"by right clicking on "Desktop", go to the hardware section, network board, and select the intel driver solved the issue.

In fact, I cannot even get passed the BIOS. Both LEDs on the PXI-8360 front panel are solid green. The PC starts normally when I removed the MXI cable or turn off the PXI chassis. 2) Update the PC BIOS.

    DB:2.84:Mxi Express - Unable To Boot j1

    Hi nonomiya,

You only need the MXI BIOS Compatibility software if you are having trouble with your MXI express connection. This can include not being able to boot at all into windows or having errors with the PCI-PCI bridge that does not allow the cards in the PXI chassis to be recognized. The MXI BIOS Compatibility software works around some limitations of the BIOS on computers that are not suited to handle PCI-PCI bridges well.

If you are having issues with a MXI connection, the first step would be to update the BIOS to the latest versions as this will often fix the issue. If that does not work, often MXI BIOS Compatibility will.

As far as I know there is no limited functionality when using MXI BIOS Compatibility.

We do not have a list of actual laptop models that have been tested with the NI 8360 but if a particular motherboard is having issues it is very rare that they cannot be overcome.

    I hope this is helpful!

    Hi,

For the controller, you will need the PXI Platform Services driver:http://www.ni.com/download/pxi-platform-services-14.0/4897/en/

Beyond that, I am assuming you have other PXI modules in your PXI chassis. You will have to install drivers that correspond to those modules. You can view which driver is required for each module in the Data Sheet for that particular module.

    DB:2.83:Pxi-1006 Power Supply Failure 3z

    Hello Khulett,

The behavior you describe, like you said, sounds like a problem with
the power supply on the chassis. My first suggestion is to try to turn
on the chassis with no hardware. If this fails and the fans don't go on
then I suggest you call in to send the chassis for repair. You can
create a service request for phone support at the following website: http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niae_asc.main

If, on the other hand, the chassis turned on, try adding the boards one
by one. First of all add the controller and try to turn the chassis on
again. If the controller does not boot then you should try updating the
BIOS as suggested on the following KnowledgeBase

Please let me know if you have any other problems and we can troubleshoot some more.
    Hope this helps!

It happened on a mission fail respawn in the mission The Sinking Tower. At mission start I tethered to the top and got a mission fail before I reached the top. Is it just the cursor that is not responding or is the entire system frozen?
To check this, when the cursor stops responding, press the Windows Logo Key on the keyboard to see if the

You should never pull the battery to shut the system down, unless it is the last resort.

    1. Press the Windows Logo Key to bring up the

I'm just starting to work with the CAN cards (reading from an Intrepid device) and followed the instructions to setup the RT Hardware configuration for NI-CAN.
    Questions:
-- Why do the CAN channels show up under My System, Data Neighborhood but not under the Remote System, Data Neighborhood. I'm not sure if this is an issue but I'm curious.
-- Why does the PXI system show up under both My System and Remote System?

    Computer: Win7, 64 bit

    No errors in Device Manager

MAX: latest drivers installed. Max version 5.1.0f0

NI MXI-Express BIOS Compatibility Software 1.4.1 installed without errors

PXI communication: PXI-8360 in slot 1

    DAQ: PXI-6259 in slot 8

See attached for a screen shot of MAX. Following the tutorial (http://www.ni.com/white-paper/12174/en), I identify the unidentfied PXI system as "External PC" but then no chassis appears below to identify as PXI-1010. I can right click and select "show PXI buses" and identify one of those as PXI-1010, but that doesn't work because after creating the PXI-1010 from "Devices and Interfaces" the Chassis Communicator field is greyed out. The ChassisCommunicator should be the PXI-6259, whichshows up in MAX (and passes self-tests)but there are no available choices. I'm presuming this is because I was not able to identify the PXI-1010.

I've tried everything I can think of, including installing MXI-3 software (and then removing it), wiping the MAX configuration data, reinstallign some of the drivers and generally messing with the system to try to get a valid identification of the PXI-1010.

    Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

I get a grayed out "Properties" tab for the following cards: PXI-4220, PXI-5152, and PXI-5404. The remaining cards allow meaccess tothe "Properties" tab.
Also, I get a grayed out "Test Panels" tab for the PXI-5404. " Test Panels" operates successfully for the remaining cards. All cards had successful "Self Tests".

    2) Under Remote System PXI System Chassis
I get the following error after clicking on the "Open VISA TestPanel " tab for ALL devices
"Unable to open session to visa://192... Return status code: 0xBFFF00A7......"

    3) When trying to run the NI-FGEN and NI-SCOPE Soft Panels I get the following message:
" TheFGEN/Scope SFP did not detect an NI signal sources module.....Simulate/Rescan/Exit?"

I am connected directly to the PXI with my company PC (XP)disconnected from the company intranet. Our machines have Local Administrator privileges. I have allowed Windows Firewall exceptions for ALL NI programs including the default VISA Server PORT. I have allowed VISA security permissions undertheRemote System(192.168.1.3) and Host"My System"(192.168.1.3), where I am only allowed to select the "Access Only" radio button. I have manually selected "Start Server" for the Host VISA Server.

So, with that I could use any help that's out there, taking into account I try to exhaust all of NI's KBs/Tutorials/etc before posting to the boards.
    Thank you for your time.

    DB:2.82:Pxi-6115 Analog I/O Measurements zc

I am setting up my PXI-6115 in a PXI-1033 chassis with a BNC-2090A accessory. I am making good connection between BNC and PXI-6115 (Power LED on) and I am connected and installed correctly on my PC. However, I am trying to use MAX to generate some signals and am only receiving 0.8V on all analog outputs and the chart displays 10V on all analog inputs. This occurs even with the BNC accessory disconnected and no signals are being input into the system. I was able to observe a signal on my oscilloscope on the output channels when generating a sine wave, however it was rectified and biased and measured different voltage levels than what I tried to create in MAX. Also, when I try to self-calibrate the card, it gives me an error, so maybe it needs recalibrated.

    DB:2.82:Pxi-6115 Analog I/O Measurements zc

0.8V consistently is the output of AO, even with DC out set to 0. I am measuring this on a scope and a DMM.

Yea I talked to some people at NI today about the self cal failure, and then they deemed the PXI card acceptable for an RMA.

And anytime I try to measure an input via AI i observe 10Vdc in MAX, regardless of whether I have a signal connected or not.

So I sent it today and hopefully they will be able to recalibrate it.

    Thanks for your help.

DB:2.81:Pxi-8231 Version Difference + Only Seen In Pxi Safe Mode ap

    Hello,

I have a PXI-8106 with the PXI-8231 card. We've used this setup before in our project where the two NICs are on different subnets and everything works great. However this time around, we can only see the 8231 in safemode. Once taken out of safemode into regular RT, the PXI doesn't even recognize the 8231 card (as seen through it's monitor video output).

We are using RT 8.2.1. I'm wondering if somehow we didn't get a RT 2009 and newer PXI-8231 card.

How can you tell by looking at the card which version it is? Here is the info from the card:

    PXI-8231-8232M/N: PXI-8231P/N: 189140D-01LS/N: 18C87CB

What would happen if we put the newer version of the card for RT 2009+ in a system running LabVIEW RT 8.2.1?

What else might cause the 8231 to show up only in safemode (both when drivers are installed and after reformatting)?

    Thanks!

    Hello RMaso,

The D in the part number indicates that you have a Revision D version of the PXI-8231 and contain the Intel 82541PI chip. As listed in the manual for the device,http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/372287b.pdf, these devices are listed as requiring LabVIEW RT 2010 or higher. Using the device with a version of RT prior to 2010 is not supported and National Instruments can not guarantee the device will function as intended.

I have a PXI-8231ethernet cardwith a PXI-8106 controller runing in Real Time ver 8.2 both MAC addresses show up when the RT system boots the secondary port shows to be disabled. I am unabel to enable this port in MAX the option is grayed out.

Hi Tom,LabVIEW RT supports only one Ethernet interface at a time, and it will select the faster Ethernet interface as its primary. There is more information about this here.Hope that helps!

DB:2.81:Can I Use Pxi-8221 Pc Card Carrier With Pxi-8106 Controller For Cardbus? m9

I need to use cardbus with PXI system that is consist of PXI-8106 controller and other measurement modules.
I will not use pcmcia(16bit), but use cardbus(32bit).
I have seen some note aboutinterrupt problemof pcmcia and PXI-8221.
Is it same problem in the case of using cardbus only?

If the PXI-8221 isnot compatible with PXI-8106 for cardbus,
Please recommend other 3rd-party PXI carrier moduleto use with PXI-8106 controller.

DB:2.81:Can I Use Pxi-8221 Pc Card Carrier With Pxi-8106 Controller For Cardbus? m9

The PXI-8221 may work with the PXI-8106 controller for certain applications. There are issues with interrupt conflicts depending on the PCMCIA card that is chosen and each application must be validated individually and with the understanding that there is a reasonable chance that the PCMCIA card chosen may not be supported. I would recommend into considering other support options as well including looking for USB versions of the PCMCIA card.

before one week i change PCIe-8361 cable because computer does not start create a sound of beep- beep. after changing card it start working then now it again but this time there is no sound of beep.

Can you guess is it a card problem or MXI?
