Much too slow to load, can't find forums

At least now we know why they did the speed upgrade.
The realized the new site couldn't load at 3Mbps,
, and rather than redesigning it in a competent

    hope we wouldn't notice.

I didn't, Naddie; I went to the Macromedia site and downloaded and installed Flash from there. And for the most part everything works. Now I have the drop down for the news modules, but still the "Lookup" and "My Locations" tabs in the weather module don't work.

Go to this site and install from there for FF.
    FF plugins

So, it's getting better. Like someone else that posted, I don't see the number of e-mails by the Mail icon, but can in the Mail Preview drop down under Assistant. Haven't tried the fan, though. I only look at that occasionally, anyway. Iy the time I get around to it, it will probably work.

So, are you using FF again, or just occasionally now that you're trying Opera?

I have them both, and like them both. Some will do what the other will not.

Thinking of switching to ATT soon.

    We need to a net-volution.

Here's how we can show all these broadband companies to start listening to its customers :

    1. Everyone choose 1 provider(Comcast, ATT, Verizon...) and sign up for 12 month contract

    2. The other providers will have to lower their rates to get back customers.

    3. Right after 12 month, everyone jump to the lowest rate provider.

    3. The 1st company will have to it lowers its rate just like #2..

    4. repeat

With 50 million customers jumping at once, they will listen or die.

    OK

    I love reading xfinity/news which is Home-Page.

All other Comcast sites, such as Forums, billing and e-mail are perfectly OK.

Until last week, there had NO issue opening this web-site, xfinity/News..

Strangely enough, Windows 7 and one of XPscan be opened with ease. However, two XPs with IEs have this issue.

Just wondering whether the Comcast changed some format?

Any helps and suggestions would be very grateful.

Possible causes is older version of IE no longer supported. Click the Helpbutton about Internet Explorer and check your version. Update to 8 or newer just in case if thats it. Also check to make sure it somehow didnt get added to untrusted sites. Tools Internet Options Security Restricted Sites Sites. Next if you have a anti-virus/firewall try disabling them and try the site again to see if one of them are blocking it. Install a different browser Firefox/Chrome and see if getting the same issue.

I agree about wanting Comcast SportsNet Chicago. Some of their pro sports would be blacked out in my area, but every other provider that carries the service makes it available in my area. We are technically within their DMA for Blackhawk games, White Sox games and Cubs games. The baseball is what I want to see the most, and I hope Comcast can finally make CSN Chicago available...especially since I have access to CSN Bay Area and several other regional sports networks with NO games available to me.

Look in System Folder/Startup Items and see if there is anything Comcast related in there. If so, drag it/them to the trash and restart your computer. If Comcast did your install, there is probably some unnecessary software that got installed as well. Use Sherlock to search for anything Comcast-related and delete it, you don't need it, and it has been known to cause problems.

Would appreciate learning how to switch my Earthlink address book to Comcast.

    DB:3.27:Switching Address Books From Earthlink.Net To Comcast.Net 1f

First you need to export your contacts from earthlink and save the CSV file on your PC.

Exporting Your Address Book to Other Programs

Web Mail can export your list of contacts to a "comma separated value" (or CSV) file that can be read by many other programs, such as Microsoft Excel. To export your address book, click the Export Address Book link in from the Web Mail Preferences.

1-Once you have saved the file, you open XfinityConnect (Comcast email) and click on the Address book to open it

2- Click on Build your address book

    3- Click on IMPORT

4- A new window opens, click on CSV file

5- A new window opens (shown below)

NOTE, if you already see your csv file on the previous window, click on it . If not, Click on Browse, and go to the csv file you saved

Click on Open, then click on Upload.

Explain what happens when you try to send an email from XfinityConnect please?

Are you getting any error messages at all? If yes, please copy/paste the entire error message in your reply.

If you send yourself a test message to you get it?

Do you use another email program, Smartphone, etc. in addition to XfinityConnect? If yes, post the Port number you have set in your settings for SMTP (outgoing) It should be Port 465 with SSL ON, and This server requires Authenticationshould be checked. OR you can use Port 587 without SSL ON.

Examples of email clients include: Windows Live Mail, Gmail, Thunderbird, Outlook. The main difference betwee webmail (Comcast mail) and email programs/clients is that with an email program installed configured on your PC, your email comes right into your coputer. With webmail, you are actually viewing your email on a webpage.

The browser/version: The browser is what you use to connect to the Internet. The version is what version of the browser you are using.

If you click on Help at the very top of the page, then click on About___ A window will open showing you which browser and version you are using. Here is an example.

    Post back,

It's a security issue. If you want to access account details or possibly change anything about the account, an additional login is needed to verify that it is the correct person.

    Hi,
·Do you use webmail or any email clients?
·Since when are you facing this issue?
·Does this error pops when you try to access any particular e-mail?
·Also check if the same happen in another computer?
If you are using Internet Explorer, then try the following:
1.Start Internet Explorer in No Add-ons mode.
a.Click the Start button, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
b.Then Check if the website it’s still having the issue.
If it’s not having the issue, then the problem is caused by one of the add-ons used by the internet explorer.
Then you may have to disable /enable one by one and see which add-ons are causing the issue.
Before you disable a browser add-on, keep in mind that some WebPages, or Internet Explorer itself, might not display properly if an add-on is disabled. We recommend that you only disable an add-on if it repeatedly causes Internet Explorer to close.

To permanently disable/enable add-ons in Internet Explorer 8

    a. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Internet Explorer.
    b. Click the Tools button, and then click Manage Add-ons.
    c. Under Show, click All add-ons.

From the traceroute above, it looks like Comcast still uses ATT to connect between Comcast regions. That's why it usually shows up on traces to www.comcast.net.But it now looks like they have direct peering connections from some Comcast regions to other providers. The trace to Google suggests that Google uses Level(3) as one of their providers, so Comcast goes directly to there rather than going through ATT. But I did a trace to another site yesterday, and it went through alter.net (UUNET). That simply means that the other site uses UUNET as their provider. The point of this is that when your Comcast region has a direct connection to the provider of the destination site, you'll go through that other provider. The idea is to go through the fewest number of providers. So you don't go Comcast - ATT - Level(3) - Google when you can instead go Comcast - Level(3) - Google.

browser (either firefox of IE) open, results in my
not being able to use other applications at the same
    time.

I don't know, but if you could tell us a little more we might be able to figure it out..
Like What kind of PC (processor/speed etc)
    How much memory
How much free hard drive space..
Have you checked to make sure that there are no suspicious processes running (i.e malware)

I have comcast's page up, dslreports up, and these forums up.. and in the background my AV, KAV is doing a scan.. I'm using between 2 and 4% CPU Usage..

Try doing this and see if your speed comes back...

In the back of your Cable Modem Box, unplug where your power cord goes into the box and leave it out for apx. 10 seconds. Then plug it back in, you will see one light at a time ont he box light up, then all flash, and then the lights should return to normal. Then check your speed. If this does not fix the issue, try contacting Comcast support via phone (toll-free) at 1-800-Comcast. They should be able to assist you.

DB:3.11:No Delivery To Comcast.Net Addresses (Using Comcast Workplace) fm

First off, if you are a Comcast Workplace customer you have a dedicated 24x7 support # that is totally different from the one used for residential users. Call that number and request that a ticket be opened. Do not permit the ticket to be closed until your problem has been resolved...

All that being said, the business email folks are just a few floors away from where I work, so I see no reason why this cannot be resolved here and now.

    So, please answer these questions:
1 - What is your IP address (most business customers have a fixed IP)?

2 - In your email client, what is the FQDN (fully qualified domain name) for your sending (SMTP) server?

3 - What port and authentication criteria is your client configured to use for SMTP?

4 - What is the FQDN of your receiving (POP or IMAP) server?

5 - Please provide a full header (just black out with XXXX the user names to the left of the @ sign in addresses).

    Thanks

    Your post was blank.

When posting, please describe your problem or question in the text box (not the subject line). The more specific information you provide, the more helpfully the Forum Admins and helpers can respond.

Your question really isn't about a web page you have created. It's about your web browser. The answer will depend on which web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, ...) that you are using. It also doesn't help that you need to be signed in to get "your" personalized page. But ...

In general, be looking at your personalized My Comcast page in your favorite web browser. I used Firefox to go to http://www.comcast.net/mycomcast/

Then go to the web browser preferences. In Firefox on my Mac, it was under Firefox. I chose the General tab to see where to set my Home Page. And I clicked on Use Current Page. The current page address was put in the field. I also clicked the top preference of When Firefox starts so that it said Show my home page (I had it on show a blank page). I then closed the preferences and quit Firefox. When I opened Firefox again, it showed the MyComcast page, but I needed to sign in. Then my MyComcast page opened.

Your experience will be different if you have a different web browser and perhaps if you have your account set to keep you signed in. I don't.

From Mewtwo Ex: Still, I wanted to do the same thing, do ya know how?

You don't have to do anything. These two addresses are identical:

    http://joeblow.home.comcast.net/index.html
    http://home.comcast.net/~joeblow/index.html

You don't have to do anything special to make the first form "work."

However, as Mamoo has pointed out, the guestbook has some issues if you use the first form of the address. The counter also regards these two addresses as being different, and appears to keep separate counts for each form of access. (I just go in and add them together once in a while - set one of them to the total of both, and the other to zero.)

Try clearing out your browser's cache/browsing history. When you have done that, close out the browser and re-start it in a fresh session. If that doesn't do it, then try using a different browser and see if you can duplicate the problem that way. If it works OK then you will know the problem probably lies with the first browser. eg: if you are using Internet Explorer, try Chrome or Firefox. Also, you could try switching from the Full version of Xfinity Connect to the Lite version. Go to PreferencesGeneral, and see which one you're using now. Full is the default. Select the Lite version. As a temporary work-around, you could try using the very basic m.comcast.net/m---just type that into your address bar while signed in to the account, and hit return. If you are using IE 10 or 11, make sure Compatibility mode is enabled for comcast.net. You will find it in IE under "Tools".

I believe the pdf solution uses the mailto function which uses the email client installed on the visitors computer to send the data after it is extracted from the pdf form. Someone filling in the form at a public library would be using a computer without an email client setup.

    Hello,

I logged on to the m.comcast.net iSite Comcast Mobile Site this weekend from my iphone, and all of the shows on FOX Channel 12 show as being on 3 hours later. I entered the correct zip code and chose the correct Comcast provider area, and it still shows the 5 o'clock news at 8:00 PM.

Using Zip Code: 97062 or 97215 and Beaverton or Portland Comcast Digital, respectively.

The main Comcast (www.comcast.net) web site shows the TV listings correctly timed.

What's up with this? I counted on the TV listings times on m.comcast.net for wanting to see something, and because of the3 hour timeerror, I missed the show.

Once activated, you can transfer your files to your PWP site with FTP at ftp://username@upload.comcast.net and your site URL will be http://home.comcast.net/~username .

    2) Ok this brings me to my second grudge or opinion whatever you may term it. I hardly ever use the so called *Fan* to watch the macromedia Flash based videos and snippets, because whenever I do, my laptop gets heated and the internal fan starts running crazy. I don't want to risk my hard-drive damage by running my computer hot, just for the sake of watching those cutesies. I know it's not a fault of Comcast, because the Flash program is by macromedia, but whats the point of all those fancy stuff if I can't watch it. One more annoying thing about Flash, is that you can't right click on a Flash object, and open it in a new page. Now when the Comcast programmers are gracious enough or in their best moods, they sometimes, when you click on the link on the flash object, makes it open on a new page. That only happens when the link is pointing to an external web page or source, otherwise most of the time when you click on the link, it opens the link in the same darn homepage of comcast. And then I have to open another new homepage of comcast, or click on the back button of the browser to get back to the hompage of comcast, which is quite a hassle, because the comcast homepage, because of its rich flash content, takes quite a while to download and open. Arggh. But then again, this is entirely not comcast's fault or problem, because the Flash developers at Macromedia Inc. were not nice enough to give their users this option about right clicking on a flash object or a link on the flash object and opening up in a fresh new page, while I'm currently viewing the current page

    DB:3.03:Comcast.Net And Norton Firewall/Ad-Blocking 7z

Going by the forum posts I’m assuming that a lot of people are having problems with the Comcast net site, mainly like the Norton Ad-Blocking feature is interfering or creating problems with the Comcast net site and/or causing a blue screen. Now the main advice given over here in the forums, is to turn the Ad-Blocking feature off, but not a whole lot of people are comfortable with that solution of turning it off either, just for the Comcast site, while they may face problems in other sites, where they have to turn it on again, and this turning off and on is really a hassle.

Well there is a solution to it, and depending on the Norton software you own, it involves some easy or some series of steps. And it will let you turn off Ad-Blocking just for the Comcast net site, while keep the Ad-Blocking feature left ON for other sites, without turning the Ad-Blocking on and off repeatedly.

I have detailed the steps involved to solve this Norton Nagging Problem, with lots of screen shots here:

    http://home.comcast.net/~rit_c/Problems_on_Comcast_Net_Site_With_Norton.htm

Check it out! It should solve the problem for lots of folks out there, who have Norton Internet Security 2003/2004/2005 or Norton Personal Firewall Versions 2003/2004/2005 running and facing problems with the Comcast Site.

I have used a lot of small graphic files for the screen shots, so click *Refresh* on the browser, if all the images fail to load properly in the first shot.

    Thanks.

Super thanks, your hard work of explanation screen shots should help many people. I had to do exactly that for my Norton FW 04 so of course when I upgraded to 05 it was a snap and made all the difference. The good part of the 05 version is that as your screen shots show, Norton makes it much easier to get very specific with any site you need to.

What happens when you right click on the comcast entry? You should be given the option to close it which should eliminate it from the tree list. The entry is pointing to a PST file for the old connection that you should just be able to close.

Comcast didn't eliminate the feature - it was never available in Comcast's Webmail.

First thing I hope is, that this message gets posted, because there're atleast 4 complaints about the current and the upcoming new comcast net site.

    1) First of all, I pay close to $40 for my Comcast Broadband connection (I'm guessing that figure, because I also have cable from comcast and the total bill comes to a little over 80). So my point is, if I'm paying that much for broadband from Comcast, why do I have to put up with ads in Comcast net's home and other pages. And the worst thing is, that the ads on the left side of most comcast pages are in flash, and are of annoying types and they move and all, causing distraction. Recently totally annoyed by this, I made msnbc.com my home page, and I know msnbc.com has tons of ads on its pages, BUT, what I did was to turn on AdBlock on my firewall software, and bingo the ads are all gone, and that's the same case on Yahoo's home page and numerous other yahoo pages, which are filled with ads of different nature, especially annoying flash ads. Now the thing is, the comcast net site depends heavily on Flash, so when I turn Adblock on Comcast's site, the whole page is almost gone, including the main block on the top of the page, which is based totally on Flash. The ads are gone too, but so the majority of comcast site. LOL, funny and annoying situation. So my current home page is msnbc.com, which has a rich news and other contents, but with most of annoying Flash ads gone. So ultimately, I pay $40 for comcast broadband, and they have annoying ads, which I can't block. Ok I understand, web sites need ad dollars to survive, but here we are talking about the comcast net broadband site, for which we subscribers pay quite a decent amount of money. I might as well sign up for Yahoo SBC DSL or WOW (Wide Open West), which are offering cheaper broadbands and I know I can disable ads on their homepages. I mean when was the last time I got a 2 or 3 megabit connection which Comcast says it offers compared with yahoo dsl or other broadband services it compares itself with.

The Situation 2 and 3 posts deals with the other problems.

Wrong. Because these never come from the actual sender. They are sent through a collection of hijacked computers, often numbering in the hundreds of thousands. Further, the actual location of the linked site will also be rotated among a number of different hosts, which is why it is pretty much impossible to find the perpetrators.

It appears that the comcast firewall, is doing a redirect. As an exampleremoved to removed. I have sent several emails to abuse@comcast.net and had chats with support but nothing.

Nope.....no spyware, no virus, no hi-jacking. Removed all the code from the server and used a friends computer and still had the redirect. Traceroute is not effective, since I am only able to trace to home.comcast.net, and that is fine. So this leads me to believe that there is a DNS entry but can not say for sure. And the chances of getting someone at Comcast to take a look at something other than a missing GIF is impossible. The live chat is a fifteen minute excercise in effective typing and before a help desk ticket is opened and then that simply goes away. So the alternative is to find a real hosting service. Out of the various ISP's I have worked with in the past dozen years (TIAC.NET, THELINK.NET, EARTHLINK.NET) Comcast is by far the worst.

DB:2.96:Comcast.Net Domain Unsecure. Rated F. ka

Your comcast.net domain's security is rated 'F' by Qualys SSL Labs and vulnerable to a number of attacks.https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=comcast.nets=23.63.227.217ignoreMismatch=onWhy is your site certificate not trusted. I would think an organization such as yourself would have much better security on your site. As a customer armed with this information - I would not give you any personal or credit card information. Shame on you Comcast.

DB:2.96:Comcast.Net Domain Unsecure. Rated F. ka

Right now our billing and login features do support HTTPS/SSL. Your data is safe over those connections.

The rest of our site which does not have critical information (for example news articles) does not support SSL. It looks like that report is picking up some of our domains which should have https turned off but is incorrectly turned on. I'll look into if we can turn those off to prevent this type of confusion.

I hope that illuminates some of your security concerns and as I said we'll look into fixing the issue which is causing this reporting anomaly.

Can't access publish.comcast.net - is the site down? any information on when it will be back up?

    DB:2.95:Can't Access Publish.Comcast.Net 1d

Thanks BethKatz....the problem I was having was that upload.comcast.net was not accepting my username and password via FTP. Just now I did a support chat session with "Fionna" and she reset my account and this fixed the problem. The service was great!! She seemed to know right away what the issue was and seemed to understand about Personal Web Pages, FTP, etc.
