    DB:3.92:Error Using Jasperreports With Sun Studio Creator cj

    Hi,

    I need to create reports in Studio creator and want to use Jasper Reports so that I can let the user directly have reports in PDF format.
    I tried many examples but I always end up with the same error msg and can't find a solution for it.

    This is the error message net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JRException: Error loading expression class : testreport_1142608681187_139038

    Class.forName(driver);
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, user, password);
    jasperPrint = JasperFillManager.fillReport(jasperReport, paraMap, conn);
    The .jasper file is created correctly and my .jrxml file displays fine in iReport. Has anyone had the same problem and maybe found a solution for it? I would be very thankful if someone could point me in the right direction.

    I am trying to integrate the jasper report into the NetBeans 5.5.1 .As the article mentioned I added all the following six classes.
    JasperReports-1.2.5
    commons-beanutils-1.5.jar
    commons-collections-2.1.jar
    commons-digester-1.7.jar
    commons-logging-1.0.2.jar
    commons-javaflow-20060411.jar

    Compiling step is OK. But when I tried to run the application following message would come.
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/commons/digester/Digester
    at net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JasperCompileManager.compileReport(JasperCompileManager.java:151) at Main.main(Main.java:45)

    When I do this in JBuilder and the command prompt the same message appeared.
    What is this problem and how to solve this?
    Help me

    Thank you,

    Hi there!

    DB:3.21:How To Integrate Jboss, Jasper Reports And Jsf? 87

    Unless I have totally misunderstood your question, I think you have posted this question in the wrong forum. This forum is dedicated to developer questions about JSR 208 (Java Business Integration), a specification from the JCP that describes a service-oriented integration architecture. In this realm, integration means getting separate applications and messaging systems to interoperate, when they were never designed to do so. Your question sounds like you want to install particular technologies into jboss; this is a very different use of the term "integration".

    Did you commit?

    Also you can test with this gives you the needed access:

    dbms_network_acl_admin.assign_acl('/sys/acls/utl_http.xml','*');The localhost might not be the correct thing to choose, but depends on your setup.

    To add libraries to your webapp you need to place the appropriate JARs in the */WEB-INF/lib * directory of your web application folder.

    If you're using an IDE follow whatever are the appropriate steps to add libraries/ external JARs to your project.

    I try to integrate jasper report into my current web application. The current web application config is as below:

    Hmm, looks like it's using Spring and AOP. One thing you might try is using a filtering classloader for your EAR and filter on the net.sf.* packages.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e13706/classloading.htm#i1097253

    Unless you know the type of the class xxx_1308256395140_640896 it's tough to say.

    DB:3.04:Noclassdeffounderror - Any Clue Why? 9c

    I am trying to incorporate Jasper Reports into my JSC project and get the following type of error when I access any of the Jasper classes.

    In this case, it appears to be complaining that it cannot find the JRXmlLoader.java .load() method.

    I have the Jasper jar files loaded as a library and can access the method from within the code with "code insight",
    so it appears to be in the jar files that the library is using.

    The jar files are also in the generated war file as well.

    The method is not called directly by the user, so I assume that there is no object type incompatibilities within the libraries.

    Any idea why this happens?

    Here is the code from my session bean:

    public void createReport()
    {
    try
    {
    JasperReport jr = JasperCompileManager.compileReport( reportName, new HashMap(), new JREmptyDataSource() );
    }
    catch( Exception e ){}

    The code is copied from a Jasper Reports example that claims to work.

    Calling a jasper report we have to give the path+filename of the .jrxml file. Which is suitable for standalone application. But when calling the jasper reports in a web application which is not possible. Is there a way to get the reports session vice?

    Thank you...............

    DB:3.00:Working With Reports fj

    Lets say your web application name is webapp1 and you have placed your jrxml(jasper_eg.jrxml) file in report folder of webapp1, then you can give the path of jrxml in compileReport asJasperCompileManager.compileReport(
    getServletContext().getRealPath("/report")+"/jasper_eg.jrxml");

    I am using jsprx files(designed in i-report) to generate pdf reports out of an oracle database.

    The non-English fields are shown correctly when I output the report into an HTML or when I view it with JasperView.

    If I try making PDF files (JasperExportManager.exportReportToPdfFile) the static fields containing e.g.Arabic/Chineese characters won't be displayed and dynamic fields from the database with non-English contents will be shown as ??? or null.

    I received some suggestions about using PARAMETERS to feed the report instead of FIELDS, which I think can not be helpful in this case and in general.

    I think this should be a common problem. These are the components I am using:
    itext-1.4.7. jar
    commons-digester- 1.7.zip
    jasperreports- 1.2.8.jar

    Any comment or help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    To add an external tool selection in JDeveloper, would be similar to adding JAXB 2.0 compiler to JDeveloper.

    DB:2.96:Using Apex With Jasper Reports 37

    Hello,

    I am looking into using Jasper Reports with Apex and I was hoping some people here have some experience on this? I know that Apex works well with BI Publisher but for our organisation its too expensive for us, so we are looking at alternatives.

    What I am unsure about is the Jasper Report infrastructure and what I need for it. I have downloaded iReport which is a visual report editor but what I don't understand is, do I need Jasper Reports and/or Jasper Server.

    For the installation of the Jasper Server I see that its bundled with Tomcat and it uses a mysql database and was wondering could it be used with our Oracle Application Sever version 9.0.4 and Oracle database instead?

    I know this is a Apex forum but as I said I hoping some people have experience on this.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Paul.

    Hi CInglez,

    If you put your ojdbc14.jar file into here:

    C:\Program Files\jasperserver-3.5.0\apache-tomcat\common\lib

    As you can see I have installed jasperserver in my Program files directory.

    You will probably have to re-start your the jasper/apache server. Once you do this, then the oracle connection shouldn't be greyed out, when you try and create a new connection.

    If you have any problems let me know.

    OS - Mac OS X 10.3.6
    Java - 1.4.1_01

    I'm attempting to print a report generated by Jasper Reports in a Java Application. I select the print button in the frame, and the print dialog for Mac OS X appears. I select "Print" and the following exception appears in the console ...

    Exception in thread "Thread-1" javax.xml.parsers.FactoryConfigurationError:
    Provider org.apache.xerces.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl not found
    at javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(DocumentBuilderFactory.java:99)

    JavaAWT: Assertion failure: _javaException
    JavaAWT: File src/macosx/native/apple/awt/util/AWTException.m; Line 48I discovered the following in the API about the FactoryConfigurationError which is seen in the stack trace..

    public class FactoryConfigurationError extends Error

    Thrown when a problem with configuration with the Parser Factories exists. This error will typically be thrown when the class of a parser factory specified in the system properties cannot be found or instantiated.

    I have included the following in the Classpath in my Manifest:

    jasperreports-0.6.2.jar itext-1.01.jar commons-logging-1.0.2.jar commons-beanutils-1.5.jar commons-digester-1.3.jar commons-collections-2.1.jar xerces.jar

    And I had been using the following System property for the parser...
    System.setProperty("org.xml.sax.driver", "org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser");I have discovered though that Mac OS X JRE version 1.4.1 (bundled within the operating system itself) contains the Crimson implementation of JAXP 1.2. As indicated in this thread:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=34messageID=2031200threadID=448102
    This may be what is causing my problem. Although the xerces jar is on the classpath, it may be that the Crimson is being used or should be used instead(?) So I tried setting the parser to use the Crimson Driver with no success..
    System.setProperty("org.xml.sax.driver", "org.apache.crimson.parser.XMLReaderImpl");Also unsuccessfully I tried explicitly setting the System property for the DocumentBuilderFactory as suggested here:
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/WebObjects/XML_Serialization/Transformation/chapter_5_section_4.html
    System.setProperty("javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory",
    "org.apache.crimson.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl");But the same exception as previously posted is thrown.

    I have no troubles printing reports in the same manner on Windows or Linux. Usuing the same Manifest, classpath, jar files etc..I have only seen the error on Mac OS X. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

    DB:2.94:Documentbuilderfactoryimpl Not Found Printing Mac Os X jp

    I agree with your observation: removing xerces.jar from the classpath fixes the printing problem, but the XML parsing speed is something like 4-5 times slower (1.4.2_05, 10.3.7, PowerBook 1.5GHz, 1Gb) with the default XML parser than using Apache DOMParser explicitely... my application can print, but the rest of the XML manipulations is terribly slower. Great! : (

I have no problem in running the commons-digester in Neatbean "java class", my problem is when i embbed it in the Nebeans-RCP. I even install all the commons *.jar found in the jasper lib directory, but it seems that im stack with this problem.

    It looks like JasperReports might generate HTML as well. In that case, you can use a WebView and load the HTML into it directly, which would be quite nice.

    DB:2.91:Jasper Reports Error 38

    Hello,

    I am trying to create a JasperReport Object using a .jasper file created in iReport.

    I have tried four different ways to do this ( leading me to believe the problem might be versioning or something) all with the same result.

    Firstly. .jasper file in current directory

    JasperReport jasperReport = JasperManager.loadReport("myJasper.jasper");

    This is depreciated, so I tried

    JasperReport jasperReport = (JasperReport)JRLoader.loadObject("myJasper.jasper")

    Secondly. .jasper file as a blob in a mySQL db

    Blob DBResult = rs.getBlob("report_info");
    Input Stream is = DBResult.getBinaryStream();

    with either case of

    JasperReport jasperReport = JasperManager.loadReport(is);

    and

    JasperReport jasper.Report = (JasperReport)JRLoader.loadObject(is);

    In all four cases I get the same (or similar except file/IStream) error

    net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JRException: Error loading object from InputStream/File

    Now, it does locate the file because if I supply an incorrect file name I get a different error. Any ideas what's going wrong?

    Thanks

    I include .jasper file from iReport. Used the following codes to call the .jasper file in jsp.

    reportFile = new File(application.getRealPath"reports/paramReports.jasper")); byte[] bytes =
    JasperRunManager.runReportToPdf(
    reportFile.getPath(),
    parameters,
    conn1
    );But it is showing the following error while running jsp file.
    " net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JRException: Class not found when loading object from file : C:\WFMS\build\web\reports\paramReports.jasper "

    I have also included jdt-compiler.jar, itext1-3-1.jar, jasperreports-1-2-0.jar in libraries folder,
    What i have to do now to clear this error.

    DB:2.89:Printing Html In A Column With Jasper Reports c8

    Hello,

    I have a text (memo) field in a DB table that contains HTML code.
    When Jasper Reports gets the string, it shows the HTML "source code", instead of rendering the HTML.

    How can I make Jasper Report to render the HTML?

    Thanks in advance.

    DB:2.89:Printing Html In A Column With Jasper Reports c8

    I've found the solution. Here is just in case it would help others:

    Jasper Reports does not fully implemet HTML support, and it does it in a not very standard way.

    First we need to use a TextField control (simple Text does not support HTML).
    Then, it is needed to select the "Is styled text" checkbox under "Font" tab in the TexField Properties dialog.

    Following tags can't be present: html, /html, head, /head, body, /body
    Many tags will not work: just check which of the set you need does and which does not.

    Hi,

    I need example on how to generate Reports by using Jasper. So if any one having any link pls just send me.

    Thank you in advance

    DB:2.88:I Need Jasper Report Example c7

    For Creating Jasper Report u need to import these packages
    import net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JRException;
    import net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JasperCompileManager;
    import net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JasperFillManager;
    import net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JasperPrint;

    public boolean compileReport()
    {
    try {
    JasperCompileManager.compileReportToFile("path of fileName.jrxml");
    }
    catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println("compile exception " + fileName + ", " + e);
    return false;
    }
    return true;
    }
    public JasperPrint fillReport()
    {
    try {
    JasperPrint jasperPrint = JasperFillManager.fillReport("fileName.jasper", parameters if u use any in Jasper Report Design else give null, new JRFieldLevelAuditSource(data));
    return jasperPrint;
    } catch (JRException e) {
    }
    return null;
    }

    public void print(JasperPrint jasperPrint) {
    try {
    JasperPrintManager.printReport(jasperPrint, true);
    } catch (JRException e)
    {
    e.printStackTrace();

    and am using Integratedweblogic

    I found this link http://sameh-nassar.blogspot.com/2009/10/using-jasper-reports-with-jdeveloper.html#comment-form

    I try to integrate jasper IReport 3.0 with jdev, i add these jar files into my classpath:

    1-commons-digester-1.7.jar
    2-itext-1.3.1.jar
    3-jasperreports-3.0.0.jar
    4-poi-3.0.1-final-20070705.jar
    5- jasper-compiler-jdt-5.5.15.jar

    In web.xml add this
    resource-ref
    res-ref-namejava:comp/env/jdbc/gestDS/res-ref-name
    res-type javax.sql.DataSource /res-type
    res-auth Container /res-auth
    /resource-ref

    and in my backing bean i add these imports and methode

    import java.io.File;
    import java.io.FileInputStream;
    import java.io.FileNotFoundException;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.InputStream;

    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.SQLException;

    import java.util.HashMap;
    import java.util.Map;

    import javax.naming.InitialContext;

    import net.sf.jasperreports.engine.design.JasperDesign;
    import net.sf.jasperreports.engine.xml.JRXmlLoader;
    import net.sf.jasperreports.view.JasperViewer;

    public void printReport() throws FileNotFoundException, JRException, NamingException, SQLException, IOException {
    InputStream input = new FileInputStream(new File("c:/yourJasperReport.xml"));
    JasperDesign design = JRXmlLoader.load(input);
    JasperReport report = JasperCompileManager.compileReport(design);
    Map parameters = new HashMap();
    // parameters.put("jasperParamenterName", "ParameterValue"); Used if you want to pass a parameter to a jasper report
    InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
    DataSource ds = (DataSource)initialContext.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/gestDS"); // get from your application module configuration
    Connection conn = ds.getConnection();
    JasperPrint print = JasperFillManager.fillReport(report, parameters, conn);

    JasperViewer.viewReport(print, true);
    }

    i add a method when clicking on the button but i did not make any reference to printReport()
    public String do_print() {
    // Add event code here...
    return null;
    }

    i add also the jar file in my C:\Oracle\MiddleJdev11.1.2.3\jdeveloper\jdev\lib

    when i run my app an error appear:

    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: net/sf/jasperreports/engine/JRException

    ....

    i found in many other forum using eclipse or netbeans that i have to add these files jar in WEB-INF/lib

    Please can you help me because we plan to use jasper in our reporting

    DB:2.86:Urgent Problem When Calling Jasper Reports From Servlets aa

    Hi, I've tried everything u said, but I keep having the same error, ServletException:

    javax.servlet.ServletException: Servlet execution threw an exception

    at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:269)

    I changed the catalina.sh file, the startup.sh file, catalina.policy file and I'm using JBuilder9 with tomcat 4.0.6

    I already have the .jasper file, and when I call
    "bytes = JasperRunManager.runReportToPdf(reportFile.getAbsolutePath(),null,conn);"
    the error occurs.

    I'm sure that the connection is right, the report doesn't need parameters and the path is right too.

    Can U help me? please.

    Thanks a lot

    I have placed the jasperreports.jar file in the web-inf/classesWhoops - read right past this.
    Any jar files need to be in WEB-INF/lib. NOT in the classes directory.
    Move the jar file, and restart Tomcat. See if it works then :-)

    Connection conexion = ds.getConnection();
    // Create arguments
    // Map params = new HashMap();

    // Generate jasper print

    JasperPrint jprint = (JasperPrint) JasperFillManager.fillReport(jasperFileName, hm, conexion);

    JasperViewer.viewReport(jprint, false);
    conexion.close();This code works well in my dev machine, but when I move the app to the server at the place where its going the be used. The viewer dosent show, there is no error, exception or anything, it just waits forever. What could be causing this?

    Hi!

    I have the same problem with jasper reports running the application from jar file.

    I have a report with a subreport. The following files are stored inside jar files:
    /reports/finance/invoice_master.jasper
    /reports/finance/invoice_detail.jasper

    I do not know what I should put for SUBREPORT_DIR parameter. I always get an error "Could not load object from location" whatever I use for SUBREPORT_DIR.

    Does anyone know how to use jasper reports including jasper reports into the jar file? Is it possible to get an example?

    DB:2.81:Error Using Jasperreports With Sun Studio Creator ka

    Hi,

    I need to create reports in my Studio creator webapp and want to use Jasper Reports so that I can let the user directly have reports in PDF format.

    I tried many examples but I always end up with the same error msg and can't find a solution for it. This is the error message:

    net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JRException: Error loading expression class : testreport_1142608681187_139038

    and it happens when I call:

    Class.forName(driver);
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, user, password);
    -- jasperPrint = JasperFillManager.fillReport(jasperReport, paraMap, conn);The .jasper file is created correctly and my .jrxml file displays fine in iReport. I suppose it's a server.policy setting in Sun's application Server, but I don't know which one.

    Has anyone had the same problem and maybe found a solution for it? I would be very thankful if someone could point me in the right direction.

    Ive tried to deploy reports files with the applicaiton. Ive tried just to set the path of the jrxml file. but nothing works.
    How can I deploy my applicattion to use Jasper reports correctly?
    Thanks willian

    DB:2.81:Can I Deploy Jasper Files In Jdeveloper? 9d

    Hi Willian,

    yes you can deploy .jrxml or .jasper files. typically you would use some folder for them but when you call jasper method for building report you must provide full path so in your application you must
    get full path of the jrxml file related to application server file system.
    so you can use some Servlet method to get file system path or to store that path e.g. as a system variable on the server

    This usually doesn't matter.You will probably need to post some code so we can see how you generate and display report.Dario

    Hi
    I have finally solved my problem.
    The problem was that I could not send the input parameter to the servlet.
    Here is my code:

    in my java class:
    public String actionRunReport() throws Exception {
    // Add event code here...

    String emp = null;
    if (getEmployeeID().getValue() != null) {
    emp = getEmployeeID().getValue().toString();
    } else {
    emp = "1";
    }

    FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    HttpServletRequest request =
    (HttpServletRequest)ctx.getExternalContext().getRequest();
    HttpServletResponse response =
    (HttpServletResponse)ctx.getExternalContext().getResponse();

    request.setAttribute("empId", emp);

    request.getRequestDispatcher(response.encodeURL("/printrrportservlet")).forward(request,
    response);
    response.flushBuffer();
    ctx.responseComplete();
    return null;
    }in my servlet:
    public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request,
    HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException,
    IOException {

    response.setContentType(CONTENT_TYPE);
    //OutputStream ouputStream = null;
    try {
    Connection conn = Connect.createConnection();
    String reportSource = "C:\\reports\\templates\\guarantees.jrxml";

    InputStream input = new FileInputStream(new File(reportSource));

    JasperDesign design = JRXmlLoader.load(input);
    JasperReport report = JasperCompileManager.compileReport(design);

    MapString, Object params = new HashMapString, Object();

    params.put("reportTitle", "Guarantees");
    params.put("author", "Milad");
    params.put("startDate", (new java.util.Date()).toString());

    params.put("empId", request.getAttribute("empId"));

    JasperPrint jasperPrint =
    JasperFillManager.fillReport(report, params, conn);

    OutputStream ouputStream = response.getOutputStream();
    JRExporter exporter = null;

    response.setContentType("application/pdf");

    exporter = new JRPdfExporter();

    exporter.setParameter(JRExporterParameter.JASPER_PRINT,
    jasperPrint);
    exporter.setParameter(JRExporterParameter.OUTPUT_STREAM,
    ouputStream);
    exporter.exportReport();

    } catch (Exception ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();

    DB:2.77:Help Me! Digester Has Error Malforme Url ".." Unknown Protocol: Classloader dz

    I just think that it's related to what an URL is and that whatever you provided there isn't a valid one because there is no such protocol as "classloader". Which the error message already said.

    From the URL API docs:

    Protocol handlers for the following protocols are guaranteed to exist on the search path :-

    http, https, ftp, file, and jar

    Further:

    Protocol handlers for additional protocols may also be available.

    In other words, if there actually is a protocol named "classloader", you will have to have some JAR in the classpath that'll provide that information. Read the Digester docs to find out which one that might be.

    Is there any tools available that can convert the legacy oracle reports to jasper reports?

    DB:2.77:Oracle To Jasper Reports 78

    Hi,

    What you can look into is using an ETL tool. There are open source ETL tools that can do the job.

    I think Talend Open Studio can perform the job correctly. It is an open source ETL tool for data integration and migration experts. It's easy to learn for a non-technical user.
    What distinguishes Talend, when it comes to business users, is the tMap component. It allows the user to get a graphical and functional view of integration processes.

    I need to determine the Crystal Reports version that is an equivalent to Jasper Reports. We need to implement a very scaled down reporting component of an existing j2EE application. This component is to produce .pdf reports on the screen that are available for printing. These are not statistical reports and are infact part of the workflow contained within the application. We address similar requirements in another application with Jasper reports but have been told to use Crystal for this application.Might someone be able to lend some light on which version would be most applicable?And, yes, that's correct, I'm not a developer.Thx!

    DB:2.76:Project Building Error When Configer Jasperreports-1.3.3 pk

    You should take a look at the error message. It says "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Creator\Projects\TravelReport\build.xml:81: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Creator\Projects\TravelReport\JasperReports-Install-Dir\jasperreports -1.3.3\dist not found."

    I suspect that you DO NOT have your JasperReport library installed in a folder called JasperReports-Install-Dir[. The instructions in the tutorial specifically said to replace that string with the location of the folder where you installed JasperReports, which would be[b] F:\jasper reports\jasperreports-1.3.3-project\jasperreports-1.3.3

    Also, I do not understand your question #2.

We also tried it in the JSP in which case we tried the following options: a. We added the jar in the web-inf/lib directory b. We added a classpath entry in the META-INF/manifest.mfDoes somebody have a clue how to solve the problem?RegardsManu
