Hi, I found the problem cause.
will update here the following problem solving post very soon.

    Thanks for your attention!

DB:3.71:Re: Timestamp Values In Java Program And Oracle Db Are Different j9

Environment: AP Server:jakarta-tomcat-4.1.18 Java and libs: j2sdk1.4.2_12 Cactus1.6.1 Junit3.8.1 ojdbc14.jar commons-dbutils-1.1.jar DB:Oracle9i Release 9.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production Hi all, first time for me to post but I have been using this Forum to learn great insight and get great source of knowledge and way of problem solving for a long time. When I was trying to unit test a data access object(DAO) class used as part of J2EE application. My problem has raised as I tested to compare the timestamp value instantiated in Java to be saved in Oracle and the same value retrieved from DB using my DAO class. Timestamp values are slightly different. here is the timestamp value comparison result. junit.framework.AssertionFailedError: REGISTER_TSTAMP value: expected:2008-04-08 10:50:07.658 but was:2008-04-08 10:49:49.377 Firstly, I checked server machine time and there is server time difference between on Tomcat running machine and Oracle running machine, but this doesn't cause my problem(only 18 seconds timestamp difference) because server time difference is 5 minutes. Next I debugged the testing timestamp value printed out into standard output console as follows. It showed as same as the unit test result values.... (also I attached those debugging code on the bottom.) :::Java System.out.println outputs::: Instantiated Timestamp Value=2008-04-08 10:50:07.658,nanos=658000000 InEntity:REGISTER_TSTAMP=2008-04-08 10:50:07.658,nanos=658000000 InEntity:UPDATE_TSTAMP=null From DB:REGISTER_TSTAMP=2008-04-08 10:49:49.377,nanos=377000000 From DB:UPDATE_TSTAMP=null Next I searched for Oracle specification if It trancates timestamp value automatically or something similar behaviour but there isn't.. Next I checked the capacity of JDBC TimeStamp class value which are java.sql.Timestamp and oracle.sql.TIMESTAMP but it has enough space to hold my testing timestamp value. my testing timestamp value is generated by calling System.currentTimeMillis(), which has only millisecond precise value, not nanos.. I am thinking in the middle of the way from Java program to Oracle, the timestamp value changed somewhere.. I can't find the cause of this problem.. I attached my source snippet on the bottom and some diagnosis data. My dao class is fully relying on DBUtils(org.apache.commons.dbutils) method, you can see my cactus test and dao class and the part of calling the DBUtils method. I really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance. Hello All,
Oracle Service says "Starting" everytime I open the computer, I need to start the service manually. Is there any way this problem can be fixed ?? Or do I have to format the computer and re install Oracle
My configuration is Pentium 4, Windows 2000 SP 4,Oracle 8i

    Nick....

DB:3.56:Help!!!!!Everytime Need To Start The Db From Command Prompt... zx

Simple Solution. Set the services for the OracleServicSID to Automatic. In addition to this, I have OracleOraHome92Agent, OracleOraHome92ManagementServer and the services for the listeners always set to Automatic.
So in case you start the server they start automatically. The services can be accessed by right-clicking on My Computer- Manage. In the following window select Services and Applications- Services. That is all. And set the services to automatic by double clicking on them.
    Hope this helps.

So I change the schedule for this job... So this only runs once a day... at 3am....

Additionally I created another job "apply only", this one runs every hour... it's not very heavy, so I have no performance issues...

So can you suggest any tool or way in which i can migrate ms 2007 to oracle db

DB:3.45:Re: Ms Access 2007 Db Migration To Oracle 10g xp

I ran into the same migration error and found out through this message board that Microsoft Access version 2007 is not supported by SQL Developer 2.0xx.

    My Solution was to:

1.) Save the Access version to 2002-2003 bye going to the round orb in the MS Access 2007 window click "Save as"
    2.) choose the version 2002-2003
3.) save the file as a different name from the existing db. (MS Access won't let you overwrite versions of Access that aren't the same)
4.) Set up your SQL Developer to point to the newly saved 2002-2003 version

The Quick migrate went smoothly thereafter.

    Hi rmcdonal,

    When you said :
"In your CatchAll add a Compensate activity and call the compensation handler for Scope_1 and/or Scope_2."

How do you compensate more than one scope ?
In Bpel 2.1, I try to compensate multiple scope, my code works in BPEL 10.1.3 but not in 2.1:

    scope name="global"
    faultHandlers
    catchAll
    sequence
    compensate name="Compensate_1" scope="scope1"/
    compensate name="Compensate_2" scope="scope2"/
    /sequence
    /catchAll
    /faultHandlers
    ...

[exec] [bpelc] [Description]: XML parsering failed because "Invalid content starting with element "compensate"".

Thank you for taking time and explaining things.

I did not know that you can make a text field in forms to be a field for date,( there is no such thing in VB6, or I never come across), so having that background you spare me from sweeting, i was to spend my time looking for formating functions.

Makes me wonder, how I was able to corrupt the data dictionary so quickly.the corruption "may" have occurred at OS level; not via Oracle itself.

I suggest eliminating corrupt DB to avoid problems in the future.

You want to avoid db file scattered reads?

Simple: walk to the wall and pull the plug from the database server. Problem solved.

Sorry, but your question is just way too vague. In Oracle IO is inevitable. Also there are no silver bullets in Oracle, and those people who think there are silver bullets end up selling memory or Solid State Disks.

    on oracle shell prompt ($)

    $ export DISPLAY

    $ agentctl start

afew second then back to shell prompt

but if I check with command

    ...
could not contact agent. It may not be running

then back to the shell prompt

DB:3.23:Re: Please Suggest Db Monitoring Tool s1

As always Mr. Burleson, so many large scale and bla-bla ... and nothing specific.
How do you expect SCtwn to recognize a good tool(plain English, good price ..) without experience?

SCtwn, refer to Concepts Guide and then Performance Tuning guide.
Using operating system tools like : for example on Linux : vmstat, iostat and top you can identify major resource consumption on the host. Based on this, you can proceed with detailed db monitoring. For example using Spotlight on Oracle you can see:

    - logical io per second (try to reduce this as much as possible). It will reduce physical io and CPU consumtion.

    - physical io(full table scans, index fast full scans , refer to the Concepts guide in case you are not familiar with these ones)

    - CPU(latches , many logical io maybe? this is tougher than the previous ones).

Read, read, read. There are many useful sites:

    - asktom.oracle.com - search for logical vs physical reads , latches and so on
    - Oracle-L list.
    many oracle related blogs ...

    Good luck ;)

I have a java thread which purge records in a table every 30 seconds. The thread calls a prepared statement which is like "delete from MyTable where status=99" can I use DB's scheduled job to do the same thing? I can create a DB schedule, and a job in plsql. Thus I can save on DB connections. Which one is better in terms of performance?

    Hallo,

I am new in this forum and not very expert in db administration.
    I have this problem.
I need to restore a Test db 10g on windows that has been re-installed after a media failure. No backup mode.
All datafiles, control files and redo ar located in a different partition than the one where the db was installed. Therefore the above files are the only things left after partition C: failed (entire partition was formatted and re-installed).
After installation of Oracle DB I need to restore tho old datafile in order to get all shemas back to work.
But ...... I don't know how to proced, which steps I have to do to restore the full DB.

Any help would be very appreciated.

I made all to attach a label to an object.I created appropriate link to oracle db and link one record. When I change the value of the field in the db I expected that value in the draw will be updated too,but it is not. Why?
After i updated the record in the db I started AUTOCAD again
and connected to db but there were no changes.
When i do label reload from dbconnect menu everything is o.k.But it should be done automaticly when i connect to db.
If it is not how to do that.If exist some kind of sart up file where I can put this command it seems will help?

    Jay,

The New Oracle Database Connection wizard has changed for our Galileo release. Instead of asking an oracle db url in the form of "jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:xe", it now asks for sid, host, port number, user name and password. And it computes a url based on those user input. In your oracle db connection wizard, do you see those fields? If so, please make sure you have the correct values in those fields.

Let me know if this solves your problem. Thanks!

DB:3.14:Re: How To Plugin Oracle 10g Express Edition In Eclipse Java Ee pd

If you want to run your jdbc code snippet inside an eclipse project, you can add ojdbc14.jar to your project's classpath via the MANIFEST.MF file. Place ojdbc14.jar in your project's root directory and add this line: Bundle-ClassPath: ojdbc14.jar to your MANIFEST.MF.

The only supported Oracle database on Linux 6.x currently is 11.2.0.3, which can only be downloaded from https://support.oracle.com - see my post above

the char set is WE8MSWIN1252You're going to be surprised.
(default char set for windows). For which one of the range?
So I created a small test 11g using that char set and I am able to connect my old forms/reports6i to 11g.Good job!
My production database (Oracle 9.2) is on AIX.What about moving to Linux?
What would be the recommended char set to use when I upgrade it to 11g? Right now it is US7ASCII. I am planning to use a char set that is more robust. AL32UTF8 is out of the question now as it would prevent my forms/reports 6i to connect. To support the legacy Forms 6i application the database will be with UTF8 (i.e. Unicode 3), or with AL32UTF8 (Unicode 5) for modern applications, provided you need it.
I guess you would like Unicode, and Forms makes the choice for you.
Have a good day Michael.Good luck!

Is the problem because of the different architectures?

DB:3.11:Business Rules:Non-Oracle Db Connections Not Shown In The Adf-Bc Facts Sect dx

    Hi everyone
I'm working with Oracle BPM 11.1.1.5.0

    JDeverloper: 11.1.1.5.0
    Database : SQL Server 2008.

I'm trying to create some rules based on some value in my tables in the database.

    The problem:

My non-oracle DB connections are not shown in my Business rule, in the ADF-BC Facts section on the Facts tab.

I have two oracle db connections and one SQL Server connection, and all three have been working perfectly before.
But in the business rules facts section, when I want to add a new ADF-BC fact, only the oracle connections are shown.

I have tried recreating all of them a few times, re registering my sqljdbc jar file, creating a new test application from scratch, but none seems to work.

Can some one give me any hint please?

    Thanks in advance

If you could create the db link via sql*plus, why are you trying to fix a problem in something that is not an Oracle product?

DB:3.11:Re: Ora-01086: Savepoint 'Dblinktest' Never Established jz

I had the same issue and it turned out to be the service name I had set up in the tnsnames file was not correct. If you have multiple network domains at your place of business, you may need to qualify the service name with the network domain name where the database resides. That was the fix to my ORA-01086 connection test errors.

No, not mandatory, you can copy the the files to any OS location where you have adequate space. and change the path in the control files.------i source : /u01/oracle/PROD/db /u01/oracle/PROD/datain Traget /u01/oracle/DEV/db /u01/oracle/DEV/data ...-------should be fine.Thanks,Rajiv.

    DB:3.10:Re: Manually Clone Oracle Apps (R12) 9p

In My Case , source db dont have jre in the appsutil file , because while doing DB upgrade forgot to create jre.

If i use rapid clone this will throw error :
In 11gR2(DB Tier), make sure you have "$ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/jre" directory on source environment. If not, then pls. proceed with below steps: cd $ORACLE_HOME/jdk/jre/bin./java -version ## Just to verify what version of java it's running to avoid upcoming errors like "ouicli.pl inste8_apply"cd $ORACLE_HOME/jdkcp -pr jre $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/Soon after this, try running rapidclone which will overcome the issues of "ouicli.pl".Rgrds,Ata

    7. WinXP profesional edition
environment variable set (WinXP) for those stuffes is like (in PATH) -- d:\oracle\db\bin;d:\oracle\http\bin and according to readme.txt of OC4J 10 i must create ORACLE_HOME=d:\oc4j_10. in environment variable..

I can't running my oracle properly...I get some error when trying add map source with my Mapviewer Server and some java's internal error. Because set up ORACLE_HOME with path d:\oc4j_10 I can't run my previous Oracle DB application i.e. SQLPlus, Oracle Enterprise Manager etc because they lost their environment...

Everybody who knows about my problem please give me detailed information so I can run all my Oracle family product properly without any problems...and I'm ready to re-install all of those application to solve it..

Thanks for help and sorry about my poor english.

Total time: 3 minutes 55 seconds

I tried debugging the problem, and found that the table "PF_MARKUP_XML" was not created, the create script of that table is in the "pf_create_tables.sql" file. When I tried to manually execute the specific create script for that table it was executed successfully, and the table was created. So I dont know what is the problem then.

Any help on this would be highly appreciated.

DB:3.09:Business Rules:Non-Oracle Db Connections Not Shown In The Adf-Bc Facts Sect 7x

    Sorry about that.

Having HSS and HFM on different servers (possible HSS on Linux and HFM on Windows) is the standard deployment practice.Coming back to the issue - what status it is at? Did you recycle the environment ?

    All,

I have been reading through some of the postings in the forums re: HTML DB. Sounds intresting. We are currently migrating a big app from MS Access to Oracle.

What are your opinions about HTML DB. Is this like Oracle Portal? or like building .jsp/.aspx pages?

    Any pros or cons.

DB:3.08:Html Db Or Not Html Db z9

It is like building .jsp/.aspx. It is not so flexible as jsp but sometimes it is very interesting.
This is not only data loader, but it is application builder too.

I can connect now my VB 6 app to the Oracle DB using EZ Connect in my PC where Oracle 10g R2 is installed. I am using Windows 2003.

My problem is that we're having difficulty installing Oracle Instant Client in XP workstations where the real development is/should take place.

For the production, the app will connect to an Oracle DB server running in Solaris OS. Will VB 6 apps using Oracle Instant Client in XP machines connect to this Solaris Box?

I am not sure if I understand your problem, patch 7047034 is a DB patch, why would you want to apply a DB patch to your Forms Oracle Home?

Perhaps you thought of installing a patch to your Forms Oracle Home to updgrade it to 10.1.2.3.?? But that would be a different patch number though...

DB:3.08:Re: Cannot Apply Patch After Installing Oracle 10g And Forms 10g m1

    Hi Craig and Rodolfo,

I must give Full credit to both of you! Finally I fix the problem and the error didnt come up again so far. I'd like to share the solution as below.

    1. Apply patchset 5983622 to upgrade Forms IDS home to 10.1.2.3.
    2. Apply patchset 7047034 on the Forms IDS home 10.1.2.3.

It is quite confusing at the start, but Rodolfo, somehow I could apply patch 7047034 to Forms 10.1.2.3 after installing the patchset 5983622. Miserable.

Thank you for both of you again! You two are both expert.

Since you are working from a command prompt, it would be very simple for you to copy your entire session (both commands entered and responses returned) and paste that into a posting here. Is patching oracle home more important than the individual DB? I.e. does the home patches supersede the DB level ones?

    DB:3.05:Re: Db Patches ds

It is time for you to download a CPU patch and read the readme doc provided, you could read the following :
"+Critical patch update (CPU) patches are cumulative, which means fixes from previous Oracle security alerts and critical patch updates are included. It is not required to have previous security patches applied before applying the CPU patches.+"

What is the error you're getting?

You're saying that Oracle sees it as varchar2. To me that would mean that you can have a varchar2 variable and match against this. I gues I'm still not following when and how this causes a problem.

Which DB is reporting the problem?

    DB:3.05:Re: Sql Server 2005 64 Bit And Oracle 9 7a

So it is an Oracle problem as we're now 100% Oracle in this.

Can you do a select * from your new table and show some of the rows you want to get back, a describe of the table, and the procedure you're using now that accesses this new table?

Maybe that will help us spot the problem.
