    Use FORMS_PATH environment variable. When you install 10g oracle creates the variable and set it to ORACLE_HOME/forms folder.

    DB:2.78:Problems With Multi Select Lov ! 98

    To the Headstart team,

    I have some problems with the Multi Select LOV demo form HSD0012F.
    Forms C/S as well Web-Forms are crashing after pressing the OK button (I have selected a row).

    After Debugging the QMSLIB65 I was able to locate the statement that causes the problem. It is the clear_record in procedure QMS$MSEL.PROCESS_RECORDS when performing the action LOV.
    A strange fact is if I put a message command after the clear record than it runs ok.
    Remove the clear_record statement also works.

    Can anybody tell me what is the real problem ?
    Is the clear_record really necessary ?

    I run on an NT environment FORMS6i patch5 (6.0.8.14) and an ORACLE 8.1.7. Database.
    Another fact is that running this form under 2000 environment with FORMS6i 6.0.8.11 this problem is not occurring.

    DB:2.78:Problems With Multi Select Lov ! 98

    Sorry for the last post. It was send by mistake.

    I wanted to thank Marc for the help he gave me about the MULTI-SELECT bug.

    I put the lines
    message ('');
    after the various "clear_record" statements in the mentiod procedure and found this:

    a) Putting "message ('');" after "clear_record;" beneath
    "p_action = 'LOV'"
    makes the form "Multi-Select LOV", hsd0012f working correctly.

    b) Putting "message ('');" after "clear_record;" beneath
    "p_action = 'MOVE'"
    makes the Reports Launch Form "Multi-Select Parameter" working correctly.

    c) Putting "message ('');" after "clear_record;" beneath
    "p_action = 'TRANSFER_FK'"
    makes the "Departmen Wizard" working corectly.

    There are two more places in the procedure (MOVE_AND_DELETE, and another one in TRANSFER_FK) where "clear_records" occurs but I don't see any connection with the MULTI-SELECT bugs in the forms.

    The only place where I still have the problem is in the "HSD Utilities Administartion" and the menu Administration-Nodes.

    It's also interesting that the never occured in the HSD Utilities forms where the multi-select feature is also used.

    I guess It would be nice that the Headstart Team says something about the multi-selectbug with Patch5.

    Greetings,

    DB:2.68:Multi-Select Lov Bug And Developer6i R2 Patch7 fx

    Has anyone verified that Patch7 corrects the problem with multi-
    select LOV bug (see below). The Headstart6i Report Launch form
    (QMS0012F) exhibits this bug (when using the demo reports for
    example) and we were unsuccessful applying the workaround (see
    below). We will upgrade to Patch7 if this bug is fixed or we
    could use a little help from the HeadStart team correcting the
    Report Launch form to get around this bug. Thanks, Keith

    We have found one odd quirk with Headstart 6i and Forms
    6i versions 6.0.13 and higher.

    Description ===========
    1. When using a multi-select LOV (which is displayed in a modal
    dialog window), you select the records you want, press OK, and
    the application exits.
    2. When using a shuttle control to move records from left to
    right or vice versa, you select the records you want, press ''
    to move them, and the application exits. This occurs in Forms
    6.0.8.13.0 and higher. It did NOT occur in prior releases. This
    is some kind of forms bug.

    Workaround ==========
    For some reason the call to procedure 'renumber' in
    qms$msel.process_records in qmslib65.pll causes the application
    to exit. If you copy the code from renumber to all the places
    from which it is called, it works fine.

    So far as I know, this bug has not yet been corrected.

    DB:2.67:Forms 6i And Pll f9

    Hello All,

    I am using forms 6i and database 9i. I would like to make some changes in the PLL. This PLL is attached to number of forms. After doing changes do I need to compile the other forms in which this PLL is attached?
    What is the best method to handle this?

    Thanks,
    SUN

    DB:2.67:Forms 6i And Pll f9

    Ok : the public face of a procedure or function or packaged procedure or function are the parameter that you show to the world (the public face) eg:

    function get_total ( p_order_ref in number ) return number;

    If you change the code in the function then as as far as the function is concerned, nothing has changed and it should still run fine.

    If however, you change the function to be :

    function get_total ( p_order_ref in varchar2 ) return number;

    Then the public face that the Form sees has changed and you need to compile the Form again (and maybe alter the call in the Form in this case)

    The same thing will happen to database packages (as a rule I always use packages rather than standalone functions/procedures) : if you change the specification of the package then you'll need to recompile any plls or fmbs (or mmbs) that use it.

    I think that when you compile a form it takes a checksum of the signature of dependent objects and as long as the signature doesn't change (the public face) then you're ok.

    As a general rule you should avoid the use of database dbms_* packages in Client side (forms) PL/SQL. Many are not allowed in this mode.
    If you need to call such code - put it in a server side package or Procedure and call that from the Form.

    Just use the same program except changing options.
    If you use forms 4.5 or 5 or 6, use f45gen.
    Otherwise you use forms 6i, use f60gen.
    In the options, there is "module_type" option.
    Here is the example.

    If you intend to use library file(.pll), you can use the following command.
    $f60gen module=FNDCONC.pll userid=APPS/APPS output_file=FNDCONC.plx module_type=library batch=no compile_all=special

    If you intend to use menu file(.mmb), you can use the following command.
    $f60gen module=FNDMENU.mmb userid=APPS/APPS output_file=FNDMENU.mmx module_type=menu batch=no compile_all=special

    DB:2.57:Pll f1

    Please note that I'm no expert on that field, but my guess is that if you are trying to check the signal quality of a 50 Hz sinusiodal wave, you need to compare it to another 50 Hz sine wave that you know is "perfect". In order to accomplish this I would generate a pulse train whose rising events will be tied to a specific section of the input sine wave cycle, lets say, crossing 0 V from low to high. That is, the 0 V crossing would trigger anactivehighfor my pulse train and then I can catch every single cycle of the input signal... this pulse train would be the signal for the PLL... the "perfect" sine wave is being generated perhaps in the FPGA but is synchronized via the PLL to the input sine wave using that pulse train that I'm talking about...

    This would be my initial thought on how to attack that problem, I hope it helps.

    I try to use a PLL in a Spartan6 by using the "clockin wizard"

    and the 2 parameters we can specify are the input and output jitters.

    But what are the relations with the usual parameters to build a PLL:

    1) the input capture range, which defines the window of the input frequency : is it the input jitter?

    2) the bandwidth of the filter, which defines the speed of the loop : is it the output jitter ?

    thanks for your help

    DB:2.50:Pll In Spartan 6 c9

    s,

    The PLL has a very wide input capture range, many many tens if not hundreds of MHz. The input jitter is important as if it is too high, the PLL may lose lock, See the data sheet.

    The "pole" for the PLL is at about 300 KHz, and also has another selectable pole at about 1 MHz. These are selected automatically based on the input frequency, M and D values.

    Why do you care? The PLL will remove high frequency jitter (phase noise) but can not do anything but track slower rates of change (low frequency jitter). The pole requires a capacitor, which can not be made very large (too much are=too expensive). As well, the PLL is compatible with commercial spread spectrum clock sources which reduce EMI/RFI by sweeping their frequency across a narrow range, and back again (usually triangular FM at 30 KHz or so). You want the PLL to track the SS clock (follow it).

    Is there a way to find out if a given fmx or plx have gone invalid after a patch application ?
    So that way we can compile only those select few fmb or pll files.

    Thanks,

    DB:2.44:How To Find If A Forms(Fmx)-Pll(Plx) Have Gone 'Invalid' Or 'Corrupt' az

    Hi,

    As Craig mentioned, it is always a good practice (and recommended) to re-compile all the forms/menus/plls whenever you upgrade to a newer version of forms. This will also help you to find out out any missing db objects at the time of compilation itself, so that you can correct them before hosting the new forms.

    Search this forum for a script (batch and shell), if you need to compile all at a single stretch.

    HTH.

However, if I save, close the form and open again, expand the .pll to see what procedures are defined, the OLD .pll defintion shows up..

    It might be a while before someone comes along with a confirmation.

    I'm assuming that you are using CPUFSB or a similar utility. If so and you are unable to view the model number with additional magnification then I wouldsuggest using the number that you believe it is. The utility will either work or the system will become unstable if the wrong PLL number is used. Back when I first used CPUFSB on my XPST system I tried a couple of PLL configurations until I found one that worked the best.

    Hi,

    We have migrated from Oracle 9i to 10g.we have one form ''FormA" and "find form" for that FormA.Calendar functionality is present in both FormA and "Find FormA".if we try to use calendar functionality in "Find formA",its giving error like FRM-40104 - No such block calendar,FRM-40105(unable to resolve reference to item claendar.cell1.........),FRM-41045 (cannot find item - invalid id).Actually this scenario is not working after migrating the FORMS application to 'OAS10.1.2' from 'OAS904' .

    In 'OAS904' ,The calendar item is present in the 'FormA' form, the 'calendar.show' hides the "Find FormA" and appears in the FOrmA and uses FormA's calendar item and after selecting the date,the date s applied to the "Find FormA"

    But after migration, the "Find FormA" is not hiding, so its not able to retrieve the calendar properties.Because the calendar is present in "FormA".

    Normal, PLL speed is fixed as P(prediver, Main divider and S) and I want to sweep narrow so maybe I should use fractional-N PLL.

    Please refer to the FPGA data sheet for the max speed of the PLL outputs. You cannot get a 2GHz output clock from PLL inside FPGA. The serial clocks generated in GT PLL's are not accessible to FPGA fabric.

    Hi,

    I am using MCF54415 custom built board and working on bareboard programming of MCF54415 (cold fire v4). I am using PE multilink BDM as debug interface. I am facing the problems while setting VCO frequency with the PLL register settings.

    The PLL settings on debugger cfg file as PLL_CR = 0x02 and PLL_DR = 0x61. And I have used the same settings while initializing the PLL in the code. Now the code is working fine debugging from external flash. But with these settings VCO is 75 Mhz (Reference freq = 50 Mhz) which out of range (Actual range is 240 -500Mhz) according to the datasheet.

    Actually the required frequencies are VCO as 250 Mhz and bus clock as 62.5 Mhz. For this PLL settings are PLL_CR = 0x09 and PLL_DR = 0x61. I tried setting PLL as given, but the code hangs after initializing the PLL. The code hangs after initializing the PLL if the PLL setting PLL_CR 0x04.

    Can anybody please help me to set the PLL setting for required VCO frequency.

    Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

    while (!(PLL_SR PLL_SR_LOCK_BITMASK)){} /* Wait until the PLL is locked. */

    }

    But I am unable to get the required stable frequency (VCO = 250 Mhz and Fsys = 125MHZ and FB_CLK = 62.5 Mhz).

    Here we have checked FB_CLK on CRO, where we are getting the frequencies in the rang of 60 Mhz to 65 Mhz.

    Hello,

    A common issue, when droping to the unix environment, is the case-sensitive problem.
    When you develop under Windows, you never mind about the case of the module naming.
    When you compile these modules under unix systems, it is frequent that it cannot find a mylib.pll file because, in fact, it is a MYLIB.pll file stored on disk.

    One think you can do it to open the .pll file to find the inside library calls.

    your forms90_path should have the path to the directory where the plx fmx and mmx files are located.

I would however look into undervolting your Pentium M to help save battery life (15-30min). So long as you dont undervolt your CPU into instability it shouldnt affect your system performance one bit. You only need to compile the pll files if you're going to run your form locally on your pc (like during testing) or if you made modifications to a pll file. You compile pll files in Forms Builder, just like you compile your fmb file.

    DB:2.34:Forms6i Run-Time Crahses As I Change Pll ss

    Sometimes I had to put some messages in all program units for form to
    work (as it seems even compile all doesn't compile it)
    That's the problem with Forms storing old compiled code inside the fmb.

    Clean out all the old compiled code using the semicolon - semicolon replace all, then save the fmb, then close it. Then open it, compile, and close again withOUT saving.

    We go to great lengths here to keep the PLL libraries UNcompiled, too. It keeps the source code files (.pll and .fmb) much smaller.

    Here are the links explaining the fmb size issue and the semicolon replace procedure:

    The tech ref manual claims it is possible.

    There is no option in the clock setup to put the PLL in bypass.

    If I tick the "override clocks" button and set the IO PLL feedback multiplier to "1", Vivado complains about the UART clock being out of spec, but does not allow me to pick a different source for the UART. I found that using the "properties" of the PS7 block I can manually set the UART source clock to "DDR PLL" and that works around it.

    But then it also complains about the PCAP clock being out of spec. I tried disabling the PCAP because I don't really need it anyway. The error remains. I tried manually setting the PCAP properties, but the tool does not let me change anything, it will always claim that what I want cannot be done for whatever reason.

    So,

    How do I disable the IO PLL?

    Is manually setting the SLCR the only way?

    3. compile all the pl/sql [shiht-Ctrl-K]

    I have had similar experiences but have not tried any of the
    remedies that you describe. It may be that I am lucky, but
    usually by compiling twice ( CTRL-ALT-K and CTRL-ALT-K again )
    the second compile works. Have you tried re-ordering your
    attached library sequence? You can move them around and the
    order seems to be important. Maybe a library that contains
    reference to another library is out of order.

    Hope this helps.

    I remember that the baud rate was not a classical value in the example...

    To set the baud rate you will have to read and understand AN1798 from Freescale. The datasheet of the DZ60 will also help you. The AN explain how to set up the baud rate of CAN. If you have a good knowledge of CAN, it will not bevery difficult...

    My other problem is that I'm not sure whether I can route every global clock input internally to both of the two PLL's or do I need to use a special global clock input pin for a special PLL?

    Thank you a lott for your help

    Hi, all,

    I have following suggestion: it works. Thank you.

    If you have this library attached to any forms or other modules and expect to no see errors at design time, you will need to modify the FORMS_PATH to include the directory where you are storing the .pll and .plx file. FORMS_PATH for the Builder is set in the Windows Registry. For runtime, you will need to update FORMS_PATH in default.env. In version 11 this should be done using EM.

    Thank you in advance gurus.

    I'm new to EBS and Oracle Forms Development. I am in the process of verifying my new development environment installation.

    I have installed EBS 12.1.1 and Forms Builder 10g (Forms [32 Bit] Version 10.1.2.0.2). This runs on Win 2003 Standard Ed. sp2 in VMWare Workstation 6.5.

    I have a working directory 'C:\Forms_Workspace'. In which, I have copied APPSTAND.fmb, CUSTOM.pll, APPCORE.pll, template.fmb, etc (see below). This directory also contains the forms I will be modifying.
    ***************************************************************
    C:\Forms_Workspacels
    APPCORE.pll FNDSQF.pll JL.pll SETUP_TEST.fmx VERT2.pll
    APPDAYPK.pll GHR.pll OPM.pll TEMPLATE_TEST.fmb VERT3.pll
    APPFLDR.pll GLOBE.pll PQH_GEN.pll TEST2.fmb VERT4.pll
    APPSTAND.fmb JA.pll PSAC.pll VERT.pll VERT5.pll
    CUSTOM.pll JE.pll SETUP_TEST.fmb VERT1.pll XXOEXOEORD.fmb
    ***************************************************************

    I have updated: C:\Form_Dev_Install\forms\server\default.env
    FORMS_PATH=C:\Form_Dev_Install\forms;C:\Forms_Workspace

    I have added to: My Computer Properties Environmental Variables
    FORMS_PATH C:\Forms_Workspace

    I can successfully run the C:\Form_Dev_Install\forms\test.fmb and my C:\Forms_Workspace\SETUP_TEST.fmb. These don't include any PLLs. I CAN'T compile the template.fmb (TEMPLATE_TEST.fmb). Looks like the PLLs aren't found. Many Errors. One example below.
    ****************************************
    Code:
    if (name_in('system.mode') = 'ENTER-QUERY') then
    app_exception.disabled;
    return;
    end if;

    Compilation Error:
    Package Body: APP_CUSTOM, 4 Errors
    Error 302 at Line 22, column 19
    component 'DISABLED' must be declared
    ****************************************

    Questions:
    1) Is the default.env for OC4J while the Env Variable is for Forms Builder?
    2) Should I be able to compile the template.fmb if it is simply copied and unchanged?
    3) I believe Forms Builder is not locating the PLLs. What might be the root cause and possible solutions?

    Final note: I copied all the PLLs and the template.fmb to the C:\Form_Dev_Install\forms dir and attempted to compile it. Compilation failed with the same errors.

    Thank you for your help and guidance. Please tell me if there is any additional information I can provide or clarify. Thanks again.

    Since this is an EBS related question you should have posted it in the corresponding forum ... General EBS Discussion

    For what I can see, you have to create a shortcut to the Forms Builder and set its working directory to the folder where you have your forms, libraries... (C:\Forms_Workspace) this way, the Builder will be able to find the libraries and the forms will compile...

    Hope this helps ...

    Hi all, the DDR clock of i.mx6 is 528MHz on boot time, but I want to change it to lower(may be 400MHz).

    I read the Datasheet and found the below introduction:

    "

    18.2.1.5.3 PLL clock change

    If software wants to change pll clock output of a specific pll, or if software wants to stop

    a specific pll, then software needs first to move all the clocks generated from this pll to

    another pll which is not changed.

    This should be done via the glitch less mux's for the clocks which cant be stopped (core

    and bus clocks). Procedure of PLL clock change is described in anatop module spec.

    "

    But I can't found the "anatop module spec".

    By the way, in i.mx5,the clock is configure int the file of "lowlevel_init.S" by the macro of "init_clock" "setup_pll pll, freq",

    But in i.mx6,the macro of "setup_pll pll, freq" is empty and "PLL1, PLL2, and PLL3 are configured by ROM", so I have no idea of how to change DDR clock of i.mx6.

    If anyone can help me please?

    DB:2.32:How To Change Ddr Clock Of I.Mx6 8x

    Thanks for your reply Patrice.

    Its good to know that I'm not the only developer who came to the conclusion that the DDR cannot be configured AFTER uboot starts. But that puzzles me too. The iMX6 reference manual has a chapter called "Multi Mode DDR Controller" (chapter 44) which speaks of configuring the MMDC with information like DDR type ... etc. If, as a developer I can't access (or do anything meaningful) with the registers it mentions, why bother with having such a chapter at all?

    Hi Ramkumar,Our PXI chassis have PLL capabilities. Are you talking about implementing PLL to the PXI backplane? There are modules that can do that. The 6653 allows multiple chassis to be synchronized together. However, if you want to implement your own PLL with software on one of our boards, you can create a VI that does a PLL based on input/output channels. Check out the following examples for that:http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niepd_web_display.display_epd4?p_guid=BDBD4DAD5A86204DE034080020E74861p_node=DZ53027Another solution would be to try to implement the above example in our of our RIO (FPGA) devices, such the PXI-7831R or PXI-7811R. Can you please explain in more detail your application and exactly what are you seeking to implement.A SahaApplications EngineerNational Instruments

    I am sharing data between forms (6i) using pll. Variables are declared in a package spec inside pll.
    As soon as I change the package spec (to add a new variable, all the forms start to crash).

    The only way to resolve it is to recompile all the forms (which are referring to these pll variables). Sometimes I had to put some messages in all the program units for form to work (as it seems even compile all doesn't compile it)

    Is there a bug in forms6i?

    I thought changing pll should NOT require recompiling all the forms!

    Please help.

    DB:2.32:Urgent Help Needed Please df

    First, in order to ensure the greatest stability you must generate a PLX for use at runtime. Although using a PLL at runtime was common in the past, it is recommended that this not be done.

    Second, if any change in the PLL occurs, a new PLX would need to be created. This would also require that the PLL be reattached to the form so that the form can be made aware of the change. This would then require that a new FMX be created.

    Also, the last non-Oracle Apps version of Forms 6i is 6.0.8.26. If you are using an older version you may want to consider patching.

    By the way, Forms 6.0.x is no longer a supported version. You should consider moving to the latest version which is 10.1.2.0.2 (10.1.2.3 with the latest patch set).

    How can I convert back from pld to pll or plx in batch?

    Regards,

    DB:2.31:Command-Line Compile Pld To Plx sa

    We have a huge forms application - Retek - so I have made a set of batch scripts (gleaned from docs, other gurus and hackin around meself) to compile all the plds to plls to plxs and same with forms and menus - here's a copy of the two scripts I use, one compiles what they call the toolset which is a set of libraries and stuff and the other compiles the main forms and menus. Hack it to suit your environment, this is for Forms 10G 9.0.4 (was Forms 6i but migrated to 10G, never been sorry about that), the executable names differ for the different Forms versions but options are normally the same - we use specific directories for stuff so having a working FORMS??_PATH in the registry setup is vital. It's nice to split stuff up a bit too too make managing easier. Ours is C:\Oracle\DevSuite904\cgenf61\admin;C:\Oracle\DevSuite904\forms90;C:\rms\toolset\bin;C:\rms\rms\forms\bin
    The toolset goes into the toolset\bin dir and final forms into forms\bin. The Forms run on Unix so have a similar set for that too. DOS has a pretty putrid scripting capability in comparison to the Unix shell but seems to manage. Edit the user/password/SID variables too. I start the stuff and go for a meal.

    Hi ,

    Use the following Command :
    ORACLE_HOME\bin\frmcmp.sh Userid=CONNECTION_STRING Module=MODULE_PATH

    and optionally specify the Module_Type=LIBRARY in case you want to compile library ,

    Best Regards,

    Hi,

    We are migrating from Oracle Forms 6i to 10.1.2.0.2 version.

    1. what will be command to compile PLL,MMB,FMBs on unix box?
    2. which location and directory I can find that script? Do I need to create that compilation script from scratch or i just need to edit information which is already present in that script?

    Thanks for your help.

    The frmcmp.sh will export the environment settings which will be needed bij the frmcmp. The frmcmp.sh is a shell script and can be read by an editor. At the end of the shell script you will see the frmcmp being called.

    Hello - We have forms in both 6i and 10g. I have both versions on my machine. I need to compile both, with the correct libraries I have a couple of questions. My forms60_Path has d:\orant\pll in it. I have all the 6i libraries in there as pll files. Should I (or at least can I) create a separate directory for my 10g pll files put the path in forms90_path? I believe one library we have has the same name, but one is 6i and one is 10g so I thought the least confusing method would be to have two different directories.

    Do I need the plx files anywhere on my machine or is it enough that the pll files are there when I compile the fmb files?

    I believe that I do not want, unless I know they are the correct versions, to have the pll or plx files in the same directory as my fmb files or it may try to use those when I do the compilation instead of moving on to look in the registry for the right path. Is that correct?

    Thank you very much for your help.

    DB:2.30:Oracle Form Libaries d7

    You need to have 2 separate directories for 6i and 10g forms.
    C:\forms6i
    C:\forms10g

    And you need to migrate the 6i pll/fmb/mmb to 10g in order to run in 10g.
    Copy all the 6i pll/mmb/fmb to the C:\forms10g folder. Open and compile
    forms 10g .

    For forms 6i set the FORMS60_PATH in the registry.C:\forms6i

    In case of forms 10g set FORMS_PATH in default.env
