    I've only called once and emailed twice. All have said "it'll take 72 hours/2-3 days from point of purchase". Well it's been 80 hours now. But I'm not chasing them. It's almost fun having given up hope! I'm kinda intrigued to see (a) how long it eventually takes, and (b) what happens next if it never gets activated.

    Well my local O2 store was quoted to open and start selling the new iPhone 3G at 9AM, so I was down there for 7. There was already about 20 people there, but they were stood outside CPW. Only one was outside O2, which concerned me a little. After a few minutes, a CPW worker came out and announced no 16GB iPhones were left, so half of the crowd moved over to me at the O2 store. In the end, I reckon about 70 people were here in total.

    Anyway, for the people that want to know what happens (activation and that) it's quite simple. I went in, sat down at a desk, filled in a form and was out within 10 minutes (probably one of the first few people to have a 16GB iPhone 3G in my town). They didn't seem too concerned about stock, as they were coming out with 8GBs and 16Gbs at lightning speed.

    Unfortunately, O2's system has crashed and overloaded and I have to wait 24-28 hours until my phone activates, and then until monday until I am able to start recieving data.

    My question is, I know that my phone is not activated, but if I connected it up to iTunes, will I be able to use the other features of the phone like Wi-Fi and the iPod as I wait to be activated, or do I need to be activated wirelessly before I connect to iTunes and do all that? I really want to play with it and can't wait another 3 days!

    That's tough mate, but according to the guy at the phone store I got mine at in Aus, if you got it and walk out without activation, it's "a pretty looking brick". You can make emergency calls, but that's about it.

    Anyone else having difficulty with the rewind, pause/play, fast forward buttons at the bottom of the ipod portrait screen.

    I'm playing an audiobook and many times the buttons don't respond. I can't predict when it will occur just before I press a button but it can happen easily. One time today it took 8 presses before the fast forward button activated.

    While it looks like I'm pressing the button it may be that the actual spot is not were I think it is, but then again I keep bumping into pressing and pressing and pressing until it works.

    Having just moved into our new property, the previous tenants told us they were with BT and had a great service. We received a letter shortly from BT telling us about their great offers so we decided to continue the property's internet service with them. We ordered our package on 13th July with an activation date of the 23rd July.

    It subsequently hasnt gone live with no call from BT as to why. After 2 hours calling and speaking online to various support members, i am told "it wont be activated until the 6th August, i could tell you why but its all jargon and i myself wouldnt even understand it".

    Why BT do you require almost a month to turn on a connection you previously had live!! This is awful service. I have noticed some BTFON hotspots nearby so would appreciate a free code for this until the service is running! Does anyone know how to go about getting this?

    Up until a few days ago only two apps were on my Elm: GpsMid and We-Travel (I was still trying to find the best free navigation program). This weekend I installed 6 dictionaries (all below 10 MB), also for testing. All seemed fine at first, until I shut down the Elm.

    After restarting it, it never worked properly anymore. It was sloooow and and many things\options were impossible to do, because menus could not be opened. Occasionally the display would turn white and the phone stopped responding completely. I could not fix this and there was no improvement after a few hours, so I did a master reset. Al was well, until I installed the same apps as before: the same problems occurred after that. Obviously installing a few apps was the cause of the problem, so I deleted the biggest. Removing 255MB, 2460 files (database for We-Travel) did the trick. The Elm is working properly again.

    So,what gives? Can't the Elm handle 8 apps and less than 2 GB of date on the memory card?

    The good thing is, if SE are interested in fixing this problem, it should be easy to reproduce...

    Have you considered that the memory card may need formatting and/or that one or more of these applications may be corrupt?

    Hey, everyone. So since a day or two i now have to hold down the left mouse button to keep things like nm-applet menu open when activated from the XFCE4-panel system tray.

    This only seems to effect gtk apps in XFCE4 panel. I have tried other panels to hold the system tray, and the menus work as expected for gtk apps: i click once and the menu stays open until i select something, eg, an available network in nm-applet.

    Quite annoying, especially since i have a mix of kde and gtk apps in system tray so the inconstancy between them is frustrating.

    There were a few gtk related updates recently, i have tried downgrading many of these packages to no avail.

    Anyone else experiencing this behaviour?

    Hi,

    I would like to ask for help regarding my LTE provisioning on my LTE/4G nano sim globe provided me. It's been 8 days already since my initial call to globe to give provision to my account to access LTE. Until now nothing happens and it's annoying already.

    The problem here is that whenever I call them to follow up (I call everyday since August 24, 2013), all I get is that my request was closed but there is still no LTE provisioning on my account. How is that possible? Closed request, but upon checking it is still not provisioned? Please take note that I keep getting the same scenario during follow up calls.

    The agents I spoke with all said that it should only take them 2 hours to process LTE provisioning my request. There were some calls that the agents escalated the issue with 24 hours turnaround time, but after 24 hours there is still no result and no LTE.

    I tried using another globe postpaid subscriber's nano sim with LTE on my phone and it does work. Is it with my sim card, or globe is just ignoring my requests? I find it hard to believe that globe cannot process my request in which some of my friend's LTE was immediately activated/provisioned within the said 2 hours or less.

    Oracle 11.2.0 (11g) Windows Server 2008

    We are dealing the first time with Oracle databases.
    We are taking Oracle courses but we are in the very beginning.

    Today we had a problem and we are trying to understand what happened.
    There is a text file with more than 3000000 rows to be loaded to the database.
    The user started the procedure and everything was going very well.
    More than 1000 rows were being treated in less than 1 second.
    But suddenly the procedure stopped in row number 694092.
    There is no problem of space in tablespaces and the procedure was executing alone. It's the first file we load, so everything was free.
    We thought that it could be an automatic routine of Oracle db, so we let the load routine the way it was just to see if it completes until Monday.
    We were not executing anything else at that time. We only have the "suggested Oracle backup" as automatic routine, but the backup full will be done only 10 hours from now. Our archivelog mode is activated. The flash recover is also configured. But these configurations were done 2 months ago. Maybe our redo log files were not well specified by the consultant who installed the system here 3 months ago. We have 3 .rdo files with 50Mb each one. Could this be the problem ?
    Does anybody have an idea ?

    I'm checking the possibilities:

    The database and application servers seem to be ok. No problem about memory or CPU resources...

    No problems about the squeduled tasks. None of them executed during the load procedure.

    Nothing in Alert log. The last warning I have was from the beginning of October.

    About external activities, I'm checking with the people who are responsable for the anti-virus program. It seems that there is no full scan for this activity in both database and application servers. And the folders related to databases are excluded from any task. In performance manager of windows, everything is fine. And I haven't found any log about anti-virus execution. So I'm waiting their confirmation about if there is any anti-virus task scheduled for these servers or not.

    The only long event we have is this load procedure itself. I don't know if a problem with some rows to be imported should slow the database. Anyway if there is a problem with rows in the text file, this would be a consultant problem, not mine. But how to prove it ?

    I'm reading something about enterprise manager for me to learn about how to use grid control. This is completely new for me. Let me know if you have any other clue.

    I've been trying to work out how many systems can be activated on one PSN account and how many systems we can download a single game to.

    From what I can gather you can have 2 PS3s, 2 PSPs and 2 PS Vitas activated per account. Please let me know if this is wrong.

    Now I know that since last november any games that you download on PSN can only be played on two activated systems but is this two systems total or two of each type? i.e. at the moment I have a PS3 and two PSPs activated on my account so if I were to buy a PSOne classic would I be able to play it on all three of my consoles or just two of them?

    Time to turn on WiFi and connect to my wireless network at home!
    This WAS set up to use WEP as it was simpler for the wife's PC.

    Select, the network, type in the 13 alphanumeric code (closely watching that each key press was accurate) BOMB! Incorrect password!

    Rather then FIGHT I decided to change the network to WPA.

    Well 6 hours later fighting 2 Airport Expresses that just did not want to update I finally got my network working again!

    Reconnected the iPhone typed the NEW password and BINGO - connected!

    So the iPhone is working as advertised, no problem "yet", I just wish the AirPort Express worked and configured as easily

    If I have one complaint, I wish (at least in my case) the deccelerometers were a bit faster.

    Good luck with that. They charged me shipping for a defective modem relpacement then to add insult to injury they increased the modem rental to $9 a month. I complained and got the shipping removed but they would'nt decrease the monthly modem rental back to $7.

    Looks like it's back to ATT (ugh!) at least I have 3 providers to bicker with. I've had no complaints with the big C until now.

    I agree worst customer service I have ever experienced.

    Let me tell you all the things that have gone wrong since switching to vodafone and i still don’t have broadband

    Installation

    Vodafone only install phone lines Monday - Friday during business hours and will only provide an am or pm slot, which means with most people working, you have to take a day off work.

    We got an appointment which we were unable to accept, so we cancelled, we were told another appointment would be texted within days. 2 days later we called again and were told the appointment was still live, and had not been cancelled, we told the vodafone rep to cancel again. However on the day of the appointment we got a call from the engineer saying he was at the house and where were we? So I had to take a half a day off short notice to go to the house, however when i got there I wasn't even needed. The person awaiting me was inexperienced and said a line would need to be run into the house and he was unable to do so. A request for a line would need to go into his company which is subcontracted out by Vodafone. And then Vodafone need to authorise the installation. This was only going to take a 3-5 days.

    Two months since setting up the account after calling numerous time we were told to be patient and to wait for a text message for an appointment for the engineer to install the landline. We got a different story most times we rang, we were told at one stage we would be able to get a temporary wifi modem until the issue was rectified. Again the next time we rang up we were told this was not a service vodafone provide.

    We never received the text message, however we did receive a call from an engineer who asked if he could gain access to the house, he was outside, and was installing the phone line. He said he would be back to run the line into the house the following day and for me to be available in the afternoon. Again I took time off work however i wasn't required as the joiner was not there run the cable into the house and install the junction box. I received another call that evening to say he would be available first thing in the morning.

    I had to take work off again at short notice to deal with Vodafone’s poor customer service. Once the jointer completed installing the box he was about to leave, when i asked him was he sure everything was installed and live now. He checked and found that the engineers the previous day had not terminated the line external to the house. I was glad he had found it but seriously how many mistakes can one company make.

    2) Broadband Setup

    On the 4th September we called to ensure Vodafone would now activate the line and send the modem. The rep said the modem would be sent on the 5th Sept in the morning and we would have it by the latest the 11th september. We were happy that after 2 months of ringing it was finally get sorted and we would have internet again. The 11th came and went, and on the 22nd yesterday I called again and was told that I had missed the engineers appointment and this is why my landline for the broadband was not installed. I repeated to deaf ears that I had the landline installed and I was waiting for the modem and the landline to be activated. Why the person could not see any notes on the account or my conversation with the rep on the 4th September is beyond me. They told me it would take 48 hours for the lines team to update the account to say the landline had been installed. After hearing this again I was furious, and wanted to speak to a supervisor which I was denied unless I made a request. The request to speak to a supervisor would also take up to 48 hours. 30 hours later and I have not received any call, I would hope to think my case is very unusual however with this lack of service or respect for my position I am beginning to think these reps deal with angry frustrated people every day.

    To sum up nearly 3 months waiting and still no broadband and not even a gesture of goodwill for all the inconvenience I have gone through. Some words of advice to Vodafone

    Store notes on your system for each call so the customer does not need to tell the story from the beginning every time they call.

    Don’t make promises that you cannot stand up to, to get people off the phone.

    Track the length of time it takes to install an account. It seems i was the only person pushing the process along.

    Provide a temporary internet service to get people by when ye make mistakes and people are left without internet.

    We moved home on September 28, 2012. Our phone line wasn't activated until 2 November 2012. On 6 November, 2012 we ordered our broadband service. We were told it was going to be activated on 12 November 2012. On 13 November 2012, we were told that BT was unable to turn on the broadband due to an error in their system. They asked us to call back in 24 hours to try and reorder the broadband. Since this interaction we have called almost every other day to try and order broadband. We have talked to Customer Options, Unaligned Accounts (which wasn't valid), and Offline. Everyone we have talked to has been polite, but we aren't getting anywhere! We are told we will get calls back and we don't.

    Does anyone know of a department or manager that we can talk to to get this going? It has been almost three weeks and we aren't any closer to getting broadband.

    When planning for KMS activation, the network must meet or exceed the activation threshold, or the minimum number of qualifying computers that KMS requires. ITpros must also understand how the KMS host tracks the number of computers on the network.
    KMS Activation Thresholds
    KMS can activate both physical computers and virtual machines. To qualify for KMS activation, a network must have a minimum number of qualifying computers, called the activation threshold. KMS hosts activate clients only after meeting this threshold. To
    ensure that the activation threshold is met, a KMS host counts the number of computers that are requesting activation on the network.
    The KMS client computers are activated after meeting the activation threshold. The computers running Windows server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 the activation threshold is five. For computers running Windows Vista or Windows 7 the activation threshold
    is25. The thresholds include clients and servers that are running on physical computers or virtual machines.
    A KMS host responds to each valid activation request from a KMS client with the count of how many computers have contacted the KMS host for activation. Clients that receive a count below their activation threshold are not activated. For example, if the first
    two computers that contact the KMS host are running Windows7, the first receives an activation count of 1, and the second receives an activation count of2. If the next computer is a Windows7 virtual machine, it receives an activation count

    Yep, KMS role has its own limitation for activation counts 5 for server, 25 for clients.
    Since the Windwos Server 2012 is released, it has a new feature named AD-based activation. For the domain joined member servers/clients, they will be activated without 5/25 limitations.

    Had huge problems getting an order placed for btvision broadband and calls. Order finally arrived and due for activation on 28th october. Broadband fine but bt vision still not working. Made hours worth of calls to helpline without success get repeated promises that tv would be activated and that someone would call be back no on ever calls back. Just spent another hour on the phone this afternoon when we were once again promised a call back from a superviser in Scotland (Jill), she promised she would pass or problem on to tech services in Newcastle and she would personally call us back before she finished at 9pm of course she didn't. My husband then rang back and spoke to some in tech services called Mark who was the most unhelpful person ever and basically said they were about to close (10pm) website says 7.a.m to 12 midnight clearly we were disturbing his coffee break. Still no joy now being told its not a technical problem and someone will call back tomorrow I won't hold my breath I am now up to 5 pages of a complaint. BT customer services is ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING. Seriously considering cancelling the whole order. They can't even give an explanation of the prolem with theBT vision or when it will be sorted. I have spent many hours on the phone this week and just get repeatly lied to to get me off the phone!

    I had bout a the FIFA 14 ps3 blu-ray this oct and the game was working fine until recently the game is having so many problems. In the middle of the game first the commentary stops and then suddenly the score/time board disappears and finally when Half time is reached the players keep moving the that keeps going for hours and the game never resumes where you have c the players still moving around and none of the joystick keys respond until I restart the whole console or in some cases were I long press the PS button n quit the game even in this case the console restarts itself.

    Has Anybody else faced this issue, can you help me out with this issue.

    I'll try to make this short.
    My soon to be ex reported my phone stolen.. it was from OUR account that he made himself boss on (or ..lead member.. head of jerkville...whatever.)

    He told me to get my own phone line (I did even though he's legally responsible to maintain status quo until divorce..)

    I've activated a new account and paid for a months service ($80ish) I've only had it for about a week before I had to go from ATT store to ATT store to find out what was wrong with my phone - they unblocked it, he reblocked it, I cancelled the service bought a new phone and now my phone is going to take until at least monday before it even ships?!
    So I paid for a month of service I couldn't use.
    Paid for 2 activation fees (did I mention I'm poor?)

    Spent many many hours online and in store to Solve the tiny dilemma (did I mention the kids I had to drag around with me in bad weather trying to get real help?)
    And now I have to wait a week or two to get my phone...

    So..If you need me I'll be over here praying my wifi doesn't go out or that one of my four kids doesnt don't need emergency help...

    Aside from the myriad things that can go wrong with a major OS upgrade like this, what has happened the last few times Apple released a major upgrade is that many people were left without a functional phone for a few hours as your phone needs to reauthorize itself with Apple after an upgrade, and those authorization servers get overloaded even if those serving the software upgrade itself do not.If I recall correctly, when iOS 6 was released, many peoples' phones did not authorize for an hour or two.I also recall that for many the upgrade process itself took multiple hours to complete, and then there were quite a few "teething" issues that needed to be worked out (one of the biggest was that Wi-Fi wouldn't work anymore, with people being asked to log into a website at Apple for which they had no login or password.)Likewise I recall the iTunes Match servers were swamped, so many were left with a blank music list for a day or two.Therefore, if you know you're going to need your phone within say three to four hours of when you plan to do the upgrade, you may want to wait until later this week when the traffic to Apple's servers slows down a bit.

    went to the Apple store in Southampton and got there at 7:40ish - number 13 in the queue. the Apple store opens a whole 5 minutes later than the O2 store, and we all file in.

    Basically, 9 hours later, after many many many attempted activations, i only got an iPhone by doing the manual activation process because O2's systems were pants. they apparently only got 4 activated handsets out in the WHOLE day - the rest weren't activated at all. now, I'm sat here at home with an iPhone paperweight, because iTunes wont connect to activate my handset.

    my faith in Apple has just gone downhill dramatically - what with the activation dead, and MobileMe. all in all, not impressed with the whole service from Apple, or O2. props go to Simon, Sam, Dan, Becks, Wayne and Rob at Apple Store Southampton though, you made the "wait" bearable.

    I am trying to deploy Infopath form in the server. Deployment is done by executing 4 commands.The commands do the followning actions1st command- Deactivates the present form template. 2nd command- Removes the form template. 3rd command- Uploads the new form.4th command- Activates the new form into the site colletction.The first 3 commands were executed, ie the previous form was de-activated, removed and then the new form was uploaded, but not able to execute the 4th command,which is activating the Form template. The error message shown after executing the 4th command is This form template cannot be activated because it is still being uploaded to the farm. Wait until the form template's status is ready and try again. We awaited for more than 2 hours and executed the 4th command but still showing the same error message while executing the 4th command. Other Information : The form is getting deployed in other farms, so facing trouble only in this particular farm. To check the status of deployed form, I naviagetd to Central Administration ---- Application Management ---- Manage form templates.There, the status of the Form Uploaded is still INSTALLING, and I believe the status should be READY to activate the Form template. Waited for hours, but still in the INSTALLING status.

    Hi guys,I have a FZ11M.Problem is that it freezes when i leave it idle. That might happen sometimes after 10 hours, sometimes after 20 hours and sometimes after 3-4 hours. It happens randomly.FZ11M stays idle (no processing, cpu is almost 0%) and the screensaver gets activated. So most of the times i find the laptop frozen (displaying the last image of the screensaver)and i can only shutdown the laptop with the power button(pushing it until FZ11M turns off)Any clues what might be wrong?

    Please compress requests present in cubes. Please talk to business and keep 3 - 6 months requests uncompressed.

    Agregation is done on to uncompress requests. There are many requests from 2-3 yrs so its taking long time. Some days it will be done in less time also .

    You can do the request compression through Right click on cube- Manage - Rollup - give the request number till you want compression and execute.

    If this solves your problem. Alot the points.

    I have just bought a I.Mac intel.
    But until Final Cut univesal applications are available I must use the Power Book to edit video.
    My wife needs to use the PB for personal use and asked me to install Norton.
    I did so against my better instincts.
    What a disaster.
    The FC files were corrupted.
    I have had to carry out a full reinstall.
    Six hours wasted.
    Mac has a very good firewall that can be activated.
    I have used Apple for three years and no attacks so far.
    Also my router has a firewall.
    I feel confortable.

I put a calendar on a second site last fall, same settings no problems.About a month ago I was showing someone how to update one of the calendars ... the next day she called to ask why it showed in 24-hours. Sure enough, both of these websites now had 24-hour clocks.It doesn't seem to matter what changes i make to the settings (and save) this stays 24 hours. I have posted on the google discussion forum and many are having this problem. On the weekend, we were advised to check the 'location' so I changed from a city to my postal code. That worked fine ... until the next morning and now it's back at 24 hours. It appears also that many of the problems happen to Canadian websites.     We were new to DSL, and could not get service for 10 days. Many calls to ATT. On 6/3 at 4:30 pm, *Agent* came out and fixed the problem in about 1/2 hours. He was great. Even stayed until we were able to get the new modem registered. Where was he 10 days earlier.

    I also purchased an iPhone yesterday... actually went to the 24hr Apple Store in NYC to get it, brought it home and immediately ran into the stupid nightmare of finding out that though I just spent a whole lot of money on a device, I simply could not get it activated.

    The thing that I want to pound into the heads of these companies (Apple, ATT) is that if you have a scheduled down time YOU HAVE TO LET YOUR USERS AND SUPPORT PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT IT.

    I have spoken to no fewer than 5 ATT support people over the last 14 hours and have heard 5 different "answers" to my problem and solutions... only the last one mentioned anything about the servers being down until tomorrow AM, and even then, the times were different.

    Additionally, neither company saw fit to post anything on their support pages about the issue.

    That's what needs to be understood by all of the folks who are active on these forums. It's also why it is annoying that Apple would remove posts talking about it from the forums. If I had had difficulty, looked for information and found something, then I would not be foaming at the mouth, trying to get the stupid device activated before leaving on a business trip tomorrow morning.

    What was supposed to be a magical introduction to cool, new tech, has become another problematic, difficult experience with minimal information from either company.

    My TBolt was recently upgraded to ICS. However, now I have a message that says, " Activating your phone... Please wait until your phone has been activated and restarted.     You can use the same subscription on 2 machines. If you want to use it on a 3rd machine you can deactivate

    For certain: You can have 2 consoles per PSN Account. You can have up to 16 USER per console.

    -1 console [per PSN account] can be set up as "Primary", granting access to all the other users, to all the downloaded content.

    -1 other console set up as s "Secondary", which grants ONLY the purchasing account access to the content.

    I don't know: I'll assume they all (16 users) can have a PS4 (the same console) set up as "PRimary", as it's the PSN account which matters rather than the console and other users.-I think I read something on this but can't remember, will have to search for it as I'm probably conflating what I've read.

    Today I came across some really wierd problem . I have one computer which I am using to test the Windows 8.1 Evaluation . The installation was done on the 20th of October and everything worked out great ... up until today .
    This morning I've used the computer for a little bit of time , after which I did a force shutdown (the power button pressed for 5 seconds type) . About 8 hours later , I've turned it back on , but I had a little bit of a surprise : Windows was saying it
    isn't activated . All the activated functions aren't accessible anymore , the Activate Windows function is present in the Change PC Settings menu , and the bottom-right Desktop mode watermark changed to just saying Windows 8.1
    Enterprise Evaluation - Build 9600 instead of showing me how many days I have left .
    I suppose this problem occoured due to some registry damage caused by the forced shutdown I did in the morning . My question is : is there any way to re-activate it without a clean install ? Maybe get another evaluation product key or get the old one back

    You can use siw, to get your key back. When you first load it a few times it crashes doing a scan just reboot and try a few times. Keys are rubbed out to protect my keys. Go to Licenses

    Hello,
    As a SPLA hoster, we had a 2008R2 sysprep'ed master .vhd, based on evaluation version of 2008R2. This way, we activated our test machines with SPLA key only when they were destined to last.
    As of windows server 2012, we did the same master, with evaluation iso (i think), and used it in a few projects.
    Now i need to activate some of the VM
    with SPLA key, but i get an error telling the key does not match the windows version.
    I really need this to work, because some of those VM hold many hours of configuration work.

    Tuesday comcast did a firmware upgrade this AM an one of my cablecards did not make it.

    After 2 hours on phone they said it would be 3 days before a service call could be scheudled!

    I opted to pick up a newcard myself. It did not work, phone support useless, said I should get a new card.

    Went to pickup new card. They were out and none available in area until Thursday at best.

    Opened service call for Friday and took replacement card home to try again.

    Called to have card activated again. They can,t see card, (no kidding) and I need to wait till Friday foe service call.

    Asked fot suppervisor, after 10 min got dumped to phone tree again.

    Called back asked for suppervisor and was told nothing they can do because they are booked because the upgrade caused so many problems.

    FIOS here I come.

    dude if you can get fios why are you here? cable cards are comcasts kryptonite they dont want to and cant support them. if you are lucky to call in and get a person that knows what they are doing thats the only way. you need to make sure they provision the card with the exact numbers on that card.

    You only need to attend webinars until you complete the number of hours required for that course. Only VET courses require webinar attendance. However, there are OPTIONAL webinars, and if I remember correctly, you can attend Semester 1 webinars even if you are not in the class. Like, if you want to sit through a lecture for AP1 even though you are in Intro to Vet Tech, you can, but you won't get credit for it. (Make sense?)

    You are more than welcome to join more than the required Webinars if you need or want to. Just make sure you attend the required number of hours. The required number of hours is equal to the number of credits for the course (which you can find in the link provided by Jessica or in the student handbook).     Well this is a good start! Moved house recently and decided to switch from TalkTalk to Sky Talk and Broadband, as I already subscribe to Sky TV. Now I'm thinking I've made a terrible mistake based on the customer service I have received to date. The engineer called to our home on Friday afternoon, did what he had to doin less than an hourand informed us that everything should be working in 2 hours(already received the hub the day before). Great! Obviously that wasn't the case. 18 hours passed before we were able to phone Sky again (0844 number of course since Sky don't make enough money already) and were told that we would have to wait until Monday before the issue could be assessed (does no one workon Saturdays?). So the whole weekend without a service that I deem essential and probably one I was already paying for based on the original activation date. What a joke. Why does Sky not have some sort of automated service checker that once they know of the activation date of an address, someone confirms if the line is active as planned, and if not someone calls the end user to explain the reason? Now it's Monday and nothing has changed. The customer service operator did call back at the time they said, but all I got was that no updates were available, the line was still inactive and they would check again the next day. I'm sorry but that's not good enough. As a customer who has not been activated due to issues outside my control (exchange problems I guessed), Sky should trying much harder to get my line in service to make up for the problem. The TV service was installed as planned and up and running in an hour. This should be the same for all Sky services. So as of Friday, I still have no active line, no broadband and no idea as to when this issue will be resolved. Great work Sky! I'm sure I'll be spending more of my time and money calling your customer service line, but again this is probably pointless as you'lleventuallyjust state your terms and conditions, which is the laughable time scale of up to 2 weeks after the order was confirmed! All I want is theright information rather thanthepromiseofsomething you can't fulfill. I'm still deciding whether to terminate the contract as theYour Rights to Cancel3(b) terms and conditions states 'we are unable to complete your installation or activation of your New Phone Line through no fault of yourself'

    I did notice however that my speed was not that of the estimated connection stated at signup at 9-16MB but 3.6MB via a speed checker. Although reading through the website I did see a section which said speeds in the first 10 days would vary as Sky is trying to optimise the line for the best available. I do hope that is the case and I'm not having to post again in 10 days.

    Hi,

    Bought an 'Elite' USB device today in store. After installing the software (Windows 7), it detects the modem and says 'The pre-paid service has not been activated'. I clicked the Activate button, filled out the forms, and got an email telling me to wait up to 4 hours.

    5 hours later and nothing. The software keeps telling me it has not been activated, and the 'Connect' button is disabled (presumably until it's activated?)

    Can anyone tell me what I need to do to activate this?

    press and hold down the shift key- click tools - click options whilst still holding shift key- click diagnosis and make sure boxes signup has been completed for this device////device is pre paid boxes are both ticked- click apply and ok to finish.. may help

    I did find a way that stops the deep sleep that is the problem have tested and it works it will tide us over until Verizon can fix it

    There is a APP in the Market it is free it is called Wake Lock

    It allows you to keep cpu running in background click first option which is PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK (CPUon,Screen Off,Keyboardoff) Than click Aquire/Release lock

    My Battery drains while running this 3% an hour but I have tested and it completely stops the missed calls

    This will work until they fix it

    I'm a BT customer I cant make or receive calls, I receive less than 1MB Broadband and my BT Vision doesn't work due to the limited broadband speed (V04 error) and this has been for the last two weeks...I currently have three separate faults logged with BT regarding this matter and one complaint, which they don't seem to care about One of the faults says resolved but its obviously not.

    I had 8GB speed and full service prior to the failure.

    I moved house with BT home move on the 26th August after seeing how smooth it seemed on the TV adverts what could go wrong?? On the day of activation The Engineer arrived and said there was a problem between our house and the exchange, but he wasn't qualified to do the repair so this was the first day I wasted off work. A second Engineering visit was then scheduled to repair the line. I was then told that the problem could have been fixed at the exchange and there was nothing morethey could do at our property and that BT would contact us when the repair was complete at the exchange, that was the second day I wasted off work. After a few days with no phone calls and no service I called BT and asked what was going on, they said they were looking into the issues and will get back to me once the problem was resolved. I received a text about an hour later saying all was well and my services were now ready to use. I had wasted a few days off work but was just happy it was working 2weeks later we get a random text from BT saying our services are now activated and welcome to BT?? from this point nothing has worked and I have spent more that three hours on my mobile phone and have had another day off only for a no-show by the BT Engineer with no phone call or message as to why they didn't turn up or why the services still don't work. I have another Engineer visit scheduled for Monday 10th, which is the last chance for BT - if an Engineer fails to turn up or cant get the line working I will be forced to stop my payments until the BT service is resumed. Can anyone tell me if I'm within my rights to do this? I just want my services back! If I new how many wasted (unpaid) days I would have to take off work and how many hours I would spend on the phone I would have been better to just pay off my contract and defect. since my house move on the 26th Aug I have only had about two full weeks of service any advice as to my rights in this matter would be appreciated?

    Got a call from a BT Engineer who is at my house, who will need access, although I was informed this was not necessary the Engineer said I would need to contact BT to make an appointment to gain access. The strange thing here is that when I now call BT automated fault service they no longer recognise my phone number and the message then says I'm been connected to an adviser the phone just ringswithout answer2X30 min attempts. What has BT done to my phone number?

    We live overseas but visit the UK regularly. We have UK SIMS which we keep in simple phones for our visits. We keep this activated by phoning or texting from them every few months. Recently we were unable to access one of our SIMs. After a lot of agro, Vodafone put all the info and creditonto a blank SIM...this was the day I was leaving the UK. I was told the SIM needed to be activated after 24 hours which was after I was due to fly so I left the SIM with my rellies in the UK.

    My question is I am overseas, the SIM is in the UK and not in a phone. Can it be activated by me phoning the number from overseas. If not what are the ways it can be activated.

    Thanks for your help. This is going to be a major pain. To be honest, all my problems involving 4 trips to a Vodafone store, waiting sometimes for over an hour to be seen, plus 2 calls to customer services, waiting in queues and being told incorrect info, has sucked my valuable time in the UK. The people in the frontline have to be better informed. To me, they just lied and created more time consuming problems for me. They should be taught how to better deal with specific problems and not just "fob off" customers.

    This is actually a story about two problems - one with my lack of Internet connection, and one with product activation.

    First, about the Internet connection.

    I upgraded my HP Pavilion tx2510us notebook computer last night. Until then, I had been running Windows Vista Home Premium, and I decided to upgrade because everytime I performed system updates I lost Internet connectivity, usually just through the Internet
    Explorer (version 7, because anytime I tried to run version 8, I couldn't get a connection). There were many other odd Internet/network bugs. For example, throughout my experience with Vista, I never could access the iTunes storeeven when I could operate
    the Internet Explorer. I also could never connect to my wireless printer (although a Compaq laptop I set up running the same operating system could). I even contacted HP support with my problem, and after 3-4 hours on the phone, HP concluded that it was
    Windows or my ISP. Nevertheless, by avoiding updates and not installing any new software for more than a year, I was able to keep my Internet connection through last night until I performed the OS upgrade.

    I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate last night, and everything is running very smoothly except I have no Internet connection. It's not isolated to Internet Explorer - I can't get a connection for Windows Update or even to activate my product. In checking solutions
    online through another computer, I downloaded installers, transfered, and installed the latest drivers from the HP website for my modem and network hardware. No change. I disabled all Internet Explorer Add-ons and reset Explorer. No change.

    Environment: I run my machine in several network environments, all through wireless networks both at home and school. At home, I am using a Linksys wireless router provided by my ISP. Every machine successfully uses the router - a Windows XP Home edition
    desktop,with a wired connection to the router, a Compaq laptop using Windows Vista Home Premium with a wireless connection, two Apple iPhones connecting wirelessly, a Samsung printer connecting wirelessly, and my XBox 360 with a wired connection. But not
    mynotebook after the Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade.

    When I run Windows Network Diagnostics, it returns: "Problems found. The remote device or resource won't accept the connection."

    Now, for the product activation problem.

    I tried to call Microsoft support, so I had to activate my product ID by phone. Success - or so I thought. Although the system window says that my product ID is activated, when I proceed through another computer entering the product ID, it says that it is
    not activated and that there will be a $50 or $60 charge. I don't know why the website has not registered my product activation, and the help menus don't suggest an answer.

    It has been noted that after upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 there is no Internet connectivity due to incompatible drivers for your Network card. Please have a look at the post by

    Last Wednesday, there was a cable outage in my neighborhood. When the outage was over, my cable was still not working. I went on line and looked up customer service, and called the only number availale.This was the sales department and they only gave me a number. I called it and I got the voice system which does not work well at all and I got stuck in their voice routing he!!. The system does not recognize what you say and there is no way to get a real person the whole episode took five hours. Anyway, they were not able to fix the situation and I had to turn in the box. .It took another three hours to get the gox activated.

    When I got the box up and activated, it had poor picture quality, poor audio quality, and the program menu did not have the functions that I use. I called and took an hour before I found out that this was a different "platform". Who knew there were "platforms" and you had to use a different box for each platform? Getting this information took another three hours -- again after going through the voice system which didn't help at all. Again, I wasted hours because Comcast has horrible customer service.

    They also talked me into getting the newest modem.

    So, I get the box with the right "platform" and it takes another two hours to activate the new modem. And finally I can get the functions I need. Well, except for one thing -- there is only a HDMI connection and my TV's alarm function does not work that way.

    The next day, I installed the modem and then got stuck in voice mail he!! getting it activitated. Another three hours wasted. Then I had to set up all my computers to work with the new wireless function in the modem.

    But, then, I noticed that my phone calls were not forwarding the way they had in the past. Today, I found out why -- I tried to fax something and I have no dial tone -- my landline is not working. I have just spent another three hours trying to get this fixed and it is still not working. Appearently, when the modem was activated, the phone was not. And, they were not able to fix it over the phone. I told them I had an important fax to send but they can't get anyone out to fix it until tomorrow.

    I am ready to find new services. Please fix your phone system and please make things work properly. In the meantime, I will be looking for a cheaper and better service.

    Last saturday I had a chat with an agent (chat.globe.com.ph) and asked for my LTE to be activated. He told me to wait 48 hours so I waited. When I chatted an agent again, they told me to wait 24 hours so I waited another 24 hours. After 24 hours I followed up my request and they told me it was marked cancelled so they created another request and told me to wait another 24 hours. I got annoyed so I called GT Customer Service (211) Wednesday and they told me that they will create a report and have my LTE connection activated and I should wait 24 hours. I followed it up Thursday evening and they told me it is marked as "For Completion" so I waited until today. When I call customer service this morning, the agent told me that there was NO pending/in queue request so she told me to wait another 24 hours!... What the hell!? How many months should I wait for my LTE to be activated!?

    I have been a customer of Comcast for many years. I have always received acceptable customer service until Friday November 29th. I requested a week ago to have service transferred to a new address 9 S Muirfield Lane Bear De. I was told to take my equipment with me and the service would be turned on and call to have a signal sent after I connected the boxes. I called and the rep could not get a signal through. He then proceeded to tell me there was an outage in the area and it should be fixed by 9:45 and he would call to see if my service was on. First lie. I called at 10 and another rude rep said there was no outage and tried to send a signal through but it did not work. Both reps told me the service was turned on that day. Second lie. She then said I will transfer you to someone else who can help. Third lie. I was transferred to a line that said they were closed and call back the next day. By this time I am furious, I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor and after 10 minutes a supervisor called Iya told me they would have to schedule an install date since the service was never turned on. The earliest was December 8th. I told her that was unacceptable and I needed to have a tech out the next day sinced this was a Comcast error. She then said she would put in a request for a tech to contact me Saturday morning. Fourth lie. I called Saturday morning to check on the status of the request, nothing was on my account. I called again and was told they would transfer me to a local office to see what they could do. I was transferred to Sandy out of the Philadelphia Office, she than transferred me to Diane in the New Jersey office who said after checking they coukd not get here till December 4th. Not acceptable.. I was in tears. I hung up and called Verizon a company I thought I would never go to but Comcast was jerking me around and it was not my fault. If Verizon could have come out over the weekend I would not be a Comcast customer ever agian. I called again and said I wanted a service call for that day. No problem someone would be there between 2 and6 on Saturday. So after 3 hours of talking to customer service reps getting more upset and using all my minutes on my cell I got service. The tech informed me the service had not been turned on. But the story does not stop there. While he was here the tech called to get my boxes turnedon the boxes were never transferred to my new account, so another Comcast error. He activated two of them and said I would need to call and have them added to my account and get them activated. Why he could not do that not sure. I am 65 years old and in addition to the stress and confusion of moving I had to deal with the worst customer service I have ever received anywhere. I would like to hear from someone in the Corporate Office. I do not want to talk with a customer account executive. I worked at the Dover, De Comcast Call Center and I know if I gave this type of Bad Service I would not of had a job. All these mistakes could have been corrected in a timely manner if I had receive good customer service and reps who wanted to assist a customer. I expect a reply in a timely manner.

    Oh great... this is happening to me. I just moved, and they can't activate my Cable box. "We sent the signal... are you seeing anything?" ... "NO. Its the SAME as its been for the last 42 times i've called."

    Now on my account on the comcast website, I have no services listed. When i first ordered the comcast internet and cable service, the website showed my equipment and everything was dandy. After the move, none of it is showing up, and all the reps I talk to seem clueless.

    I just moved... brought my equipment with me... and want to activate my cable.

    (on a side note... they DID activate my internet. so at least thats good, but before they'd start to activate my cable, they disconnected me.)

    I have been a customer of verizon since September. Getting my service turned on to begin with was a joke. It took weeks and you people messed up so many things it wasn't funny. But I stuck with it because I had bundled with Direct TV. Now more problems. Now Verizon did not initially cause this problem Comcast did. They gave my phone number to one of their customers and got my service shut off. However, since then verizons handling of the situation has been abysmal. It took 7 days just to get my phone turned back on with a temporary number my internet got disconnected and I still do not have voicemail. All I have wanted was to get my services restored to what they were previousely at the price they were and I need to be rebundled with direct tv but 12 Days later and this still has not happened. I am so very disgusted with this company. I have already spent well over 12 hours on the phone trying to fix this and that is NOT an exageration. I have been bounced around from person to person department to department no one has any clue whats going on. I have been working with one manager who seems nice and helpful but last night I was told to give it a half an hour and the voicemail should work and today I am being told I didn't have voicemail on my account it has been added and wont be working until the 27. Are you kidding me give me one good reason I should even continue being a customer. Now I am facing most likely another week of constantly haveing to call and most likely getting no where. Not to mention my Direct tv bill is going to be higher and all messed up and one can only imagine what your bill will look like since I have had about 10 automated calls saying my services have been activated and emails showing connection fees and everything else. Honestly I can't even believe this company is even in buiseness anymore. I am one VERY UNHAPPY customer and I think it is time to look elsewhere.

    The Verizon customer service experience doesnt get any better. If you are unlucky enough to have to call customer service for any reason you should clear your schedule and take a pill to relaxe yourself in preperation for the frustration that is sure to follow. The Fios serviec is great but not worth the Customer Service headache that goes with it. I am trying to connect an upgraded 500GB DVR for days and have been given the runaround along with incompetence by this company the whole time. I am ready to send back the DVR, hope I can get credit for the $40 shipping they charge and ride out the balance of my 2 year contract and go back to Cablevision, as bad as that is, at least you can get a semi competent human on your problem in a reasonable amount of time.

    Tonight, 2 weeks after our promised receipt of our Comcast cable box via mail, we finally received our new device. We followed the self-install guidelines up until the point when we were told to activate our device by calling 1-888-270-6445. We did so, and that is when the problems began. We set up our account over 2 weeks ago, yet we were told our cable cannot be activated for another month. Yet we have all of the equipment and our internet, which is connected to the cable, is working fine and the account was set up weeks ago. The only delay we had was in receiving the actual equipment in the mail. No one could give us an explanation as to why our cable can't be activated. Throughout the course of the night, we were on the phone with various Comcast customer service reps for over 2.5 hours, transferred to literally 8 different people throughout the night. No one had an answer or offered to do anything to solve our problem--their only solution was to transfer us to the next person, until we finally hit a dead end and could be transferred no more.

    All we would like to do is activate our cable box--the equipment is all here and ready to go. I would love an explanation as to why it cannot be turned on for another month and even more, I would like a quick resolution to the issue. I fear that when our bill arrives, we will be charged for both cable and internet, despite the fact that only the internet has just begun to work.

    Until doing some control tests I was sure that my EFG120 Ver 2 with ver 29 firmaware was mirroring to both disk 1 and 2 as if it were set up as a raid device. After many hours of tech and customer support I have discovered that it is not mirroring. It is writing /reading only from disk 1.     Here is a very brief breakdown of the utterly terrible service and treatment we've had from Sky so far:

    Signed up in January 2011, Sky TV not activated til end of February, no internet until the end of March.Moved house in September, contacted Sky to give them details of new address, and they turn our broadband off early.In the new house for a month, they fail to tell us an engineer is needed to install a line to connect us. The engineer turns up when we are out, so we have to wait another 3 weeks for another appointment.After the engineer installs our line, we are told it will be 7-10 days until our broadband is on. 2 weeks later, we ring to complain, and they notice our account at the new place was activated incorrectly - completely their fault, and something they would never have spotted unless we had complained and pressed them to look into it.2 weeks later (roughly now) and we have been going round in circles with Sky. They claim that as our exact address isn't on the royal mail database, they can't get BT to activate our line to give us broadband. Royal Mail have said they cannot change our address beyond what it is already listed as, because it is a building with more than one flat in it, sharing a common entrance.We are in 2 building divided into 2 flats. Royal Mail say they have encountered this before, and tell people to advise their ISP that they are in a 'multi-occuppied building' and that providers should have procedures in place to deal with premises of this type. Sky claim they have never come accross this, and that it won't be possible to connect us.
    We have wasted many hours and a lot of money on the 40-50 calls we've made to resolve this. No one has a clue what to do, no one is sympathetic. We get bounced around lots of different people and departments, but nothing ever gets fixed. We frequently get lied to, fobbed off, have promises made which are never kept, and really need someone to give us advice.

    We have e-mailed and written letters, and unsurprisingly, no one ever responds.

    By the time our year contract will be up, we will have been without internet for 5 months out of 12.

    Can someone please advise on how we can get these people to give us what we are paying for, and on how we can get compensation.

    We are completely fed up, and don't understand how such incompetance can survive in a supposedly competetive market, were it not for the monopoly Sky have.

    Please accept my apologies for the level of service you have received so far, this is not typical customer service we expect for any of our customers.

    I agree you should have been advised by the agent who took your call the evening before the engineer visit that the order had not been processed correctly and that a re-order would be required. This would have saved a lost day waiting in for an engineer that would not have arrived.

    Can you advise if you have now received the agreed wireless dongle to use in the mean time?

    Unfortunately you are correct, you would be unable to see any available credit on your account until the account is active. You would normally be able to check this via your My Sky account.

    I installed the latest version of Skype. And it worked fine. I was seeing my contacts who were online and offline, and skyping them - as well as them skyping me. However, just a few days later,I noticed many of my contacts who normally show as online - were displaying as, offline. Then, 3 hours later, still all offline? Then 6 hours later! Something's gotta be wrong! They would never be offline that long! Then I stared to wonder, maybe this is also why nobody has been skyping me either lately! So, I waited until the next day,

    still all OFFLINE! No - something is definitely wrong! So, I uninstalled Skype and reinstalled it once again - still all Offline!

The SIM card is what identifies you on the network. In theory, for GSM networks/devices, you can pop the (activated) SIM card into any device, power it on, and it should simply work. The SIM card is completely independent from the phone. The network itself, in theory and in practice up until now I guess, should not care at all what phone you use. You can switch phones every half an hour if you want, but as long as you keep the same SIM card, the network should simply recognize you as an already activated client and not require any kind of re-activation. The phone is disposable. The SIM card is not.

    So, why does the iPhone require re-activation after firmware update? The SIM card is untouched by the update. It's completely separate entity from the phone. Already activated months ago just after I bought my iPhone. Why on earth does it need to be re-activated???????

    What on earth did Apple and ATT did behind our backs (and probably in violation of standards that define how GSM networks and devices are supposed to operate) to force upon us the grief of last Friday morning?

    Sorry this is a last resort posting in the forum but I can't get any help from 191, call-back or emails. I tried to activate my nano sim on Friday when the phone and sim were delivered, activation has still not happened, I experienced all the same problems as other posters so decided to be patient.When I called 191 Monday evening to find out why I was still not activated I was told that my sim had been activated, despite the fact that I was calling from my old mobile with old sim! Many off/on switches later, removing a replacing sim card and the phone is still not activated, my old sim phone are working fine and showing no signs of being deactivated.

    Is there any possibility of someone contacting me to resolve the problem or is activation really taking 72 hours thesedays?????

    DB:2.48:Lost Channels After Installing Dta m9



    I received the letter from Comcast informing me of the "digital migration" and stating that I would need to have a digital set top box or DTA installed on my televisions to be able to continue receiving the stations that I now receive. I ordered the digital set top box and two DTAs, picked them up, installed them myself and then activated them through the Comcast Online Activation site. At first only the digital set top box activated. After 90 minutes, I went back to the Online Activation site and re-activated the two DTAs...within 10 minutes they both came on and I started receiving programming.

    Unfortunately, after scanning the channels, I found twelve stations that display the message "One Moment Please. Your service has been temporarily interrupted. It should be restored momentarily."

    I waited over 24 hours and then I went online and intitated a chat session with a technician who attempted to reset the DTAs (nothing happened) then had me power cycle them (nothing happened) then checked the activation status and told me that they were not "really" activated. I was informed that I would need to call the live Activation Team and have them reactivated.

    I called the live Activation Team and was rushed through the activation. I tried to explain to the person the issue that I was having, but she assurred me that if the green light on the DTA was not blinking, then it was activated.

    Well...here it is about 90minutes later and I have the same twelve stations showing the same message. Granted, I picked up a few stations by adding the DTA, but I was under the impression that I would keep all of the stations that I previously had.

    Seems funny also that these stations work on the TV with the set top box and with another television that has no DTA on it...only the two TVs with the DTAs attached are affected.....

    Does anyone have any idea why this would happen? Is it possible that these stations will return after the "digital migration"...maybe I should just diconnect the DTAs until after the migration takes place? At least I would be able to view those channels until the migration

    I know how you feel. Mine would not work at all even after they said that the box was working.

    I just took the garbage back to comcast. They said our digital change notice was in error and that it would not take place until Sept.

    They wanted 70 dollars for a tech to come out. I said no thanks to that.

    After taking the boxes back to the local comast office, they said we could get a tech out later for 9.95 to install one box. Then we could get the other 2 boxes later.

    I wonder why they could not have done that in the first place? They just sent the boxes ups. I am sure there is a problem with the comast system. They have no idea what they are doing. One hand does not talk to the other hand. It is kind of like a goat rodeo.

    My Yoga 2 Pro has very often problems to activate the keyboard when I open the display.This is what I do:- working with the Yoga 2 Pro- close all applications and after that I close the display- after a while (can be a few minutes or several hours) I open the display- it take a few seconds until the display is turned on (that's expected)- in at least 50% the keyboard stays deactivated. The backlight can't be turned and the notebook does not notice any pressed key. I'm unable to log in :-(- I need to close the display again, need to wait a few seconds - and when I open the display for a second time, the keyboard gets activated - not always, but most often. But sometime the keyboard stays disabled although I try the described procedure many time. If that happens I need to reboot the machine.All drivers are updated.@Lenovo: Please advise how to fix this problem!     I purchased two new iPhones (iPhone 6) on the evening of 9/28/14 and received email receipts confirming the orders and reflecting the Promotional Data:

    Both phones have arrived (prior to estimates - a nice surprise) and have been activated. After a few days, I decided to call (10/16/14) and check on the status of the Promotional Data and was told that it would be taken care of within 24 hours. Since I did not see a change to my account, I called again earlier this week (10/21/14) and spoke with Adam. He was very polite, courteous, and appeared understanding. He looked at my records and noticed that my documents reflected that the purchases were made on 10/2/14 and 10/11/14 (as seen in my My Verizon Documents Receipts) and outside of the promotion period. I explained that the purchases were made 9/28/14, that I had email receipts reflecting this, and that opening/viewing the documents in Documents Receipts show that they were purchased on 9/28/14. He then verified this information and was contacting the appropriate team for resolving this issue. He told me that I should see the Promotion Data within 48 hours. I waited two days, didn't see the change reflected on my account, and called Verizon Wireless Support again. This time, Kenisha took my information and told me that I'd see the change within 24-48 hours.

    Can anyone provide any directions or steps to getting this resolved? Like many others, I gave up a legacy unlimited data plan to upgrade devices and moved to a More Everything plan based on the Promotional Data (and the device trade-in option - I'm also having "issues" with this).

    I used Twitter to talk to Verizon support. It took a couple of weeks, but I now have all of the data that I was promised. @VZWsupport. I tweeted with several different reps and had to give them some of the same info again, but the end result was getting all 3 gb's that I was promised when I ordered my phones. Make sure you keep checking back with them.

    Out Sky talk was activated two weeks ago and has been working fine until our broadband was activated today at which point the phone stopped working and now we have no phone or Internet. It's fairly obvious to me that the issue relates to the activation of the broadband as the phone was working at 9.00am this morning. After going through the trouble shooting process I've reported the fault and it's been escalated to 'level 2'. A quick search using my 3G connection on my phone has revealled this to be a fairly common issue. I've been told that a engineer will call within 72 hours however, my partner is due to give birth immently and fir obvious reasons we need the phone sorting ASAP. I can see lots of people expressing issues with Sky's dealing of similar complaints and will form my own opinion based on experience. What I don't see is many people commenting on how these issues were resolved. Is Sky going to leave my partner and unborn vulnerable or will this get sorted promptly?

    I just recently switched my internet to Comcast and decided to buy the Motorola Surfboard 6121. It's now been three days and countless hours spent on the phone trying to get this darn thing activated. I've had a couple people try to manually add my modem only to be told they keep getting an error message. Then they try to contact the Activation Department for help and they can't get through to them. They gave me the number and I've been trying all day as well only for it to ring once and then disconnect the call. I actually spoke to a guy (Orlando) in the Activation Department last night and he told me they were updating their system and it should only take 30 more minutes until it was done and he'd be able to activate my modem. He told me he'd call me back as soon as it was ready. Of course I never received a call. I'm beyond frustrated and I have no idea what else to do. I'm so tired of calling and spending another 30 minutes on a call only to be told the same thing all over again.

    FWIW, that is an older modem that is only capable of providing 4 downstream channels. There are newer modems that provide eight downstream channels such as the 6141. Having a fatter pipe can never be a bad thing.

    Between my wife and I, we have spend over six hours on the phone with customer service in two days. My wife's call was at least 5 hours and she spoke to as many as 10 different representatives. She was hung up on once, told several different "reasons" why our internet was not working, was given a difficult time trying to get to a supervisor, was asked if she wanted to hold until the next shift, told that we had to drive over an hour to buy a new modem. At no point in time was it suggested they could send someone to find out what was going on. We were also argued with as to if our service was working or not! They even told us at one point that there was nothing that could be done to help us!

    Am I not a valued customer to you?! Our account is still showing connected, although we disconnected our account LAST WEEK!!! We felt that there was no other choice.

    At no point in time should a customer be transferred to ten different people or allowed to stay on the phone for five hours! Calling back the next day, I still could not come to a resolution. This behavior is incredibly unacceptable by your company! Shame on you... and I will be filing complaints with the BBB and FCC!

    2 weeks and I can't use mine. People get a msg saying "the number you dialed is not yet activated" and thats it!

    I wasted hours with support, they had me change those settings, uninstall, reinstall, manually delete files and reboot... nothing... 2 weeks later I still can't receive calls on that number.

    I have been trying for a whole week now to activate my service. When I originally signed up for Blast I was told it would be activated within 24 hours. I realized I didn't have a coaxial outlet in my apartment and tried to request a tech to come out. After several phone calls and being put on hold for hours. It culminated to that my service was never activated and I can't have a tech come out until I call to activate it and I continually keep getting dropped. This is awful customer service Comcast should be ashamed of themsevles and I will not stop until my problem is solved and a coax outlet is in my apartment. That is a promise. So unless you can put me in touch with someone who I wont be put on hold with DO NOT try and respond to this post.

    The only issue is that this account does not have this issue with any other mail clients. For example, to troubleshoot, I setup Entourage and we had no issues whatsoever.

    I have discussed this with the Exchange administrator and we verified that the account has no problems.

    I've deployed yesterday a new landesk Agent Configuration for our VDI environment.

    But immedialty after a strong IO load on our SAN array slow down the desktops.

    I let time like if it was a forced "inventory scan" but 4 hours after i was worse.

    I found that many VMs were running high IOPS and had a softmon process doing a lot of reads...

    I tried to unset Usage Soft Monitoring and delay the inventory settings to the night but already the same after a new configuration deployment...

    I verified and found our clients were still in 9.5 and as our server is 9.6, i did an client upgrade, from 9.5 to 9.6 with the same desired settings and ... it worked perfectly after an heavy 4 hours operation this night.

    From 04h to 09h00 all seemed perfectly normal.We came back to normal IO rates, like 24 hours before...

    But after 09h00(until now), since our users reopened their sessions : the same behaviour : many (not all) VMs are reading intensively with the softmon process.

    So, if you can help us to resolve this behaviour it would be great!

    Do you happen to have real-time inventory set in your agent? If it is enabled try to disable it and uninstall the agent completely and then re-install it.     Just wanted to let all those who ordered new iphone5s through Verizon know that you may not be able to activate the phone when it arrives. I ordered a new iphone5 and was very excited to start using it. However, after following the activation instructions, guess what - unable to activate call Verizon support. After about 30 minutes with tech support, I was told that it would be at least 24 hours until the phone could be activated. When I asked about the delay, I was told that they were having problems with the iphone5 activations. So, as a word of warning, if you order the iphone5, and are very excited to start using it (as most of us are) when it finally arrives, you may just have to let it sit idle for at least a day while Verizon tries to figure out how to activate it.

    You're right. Last Saturday I purchased the phone using my non-smartphone line. I had to wait until Sunday to remove the iPhone from that line because Verizon servers were down (due to Hurricane Sandy). Sunday morning I finally removed the phone but when I tried to activate on my unlimited data line it would not work. Finally the next day at around 10:30 am I was able to activate the phone on my line. So I think it was 24 hours after I had removed it from my non-smartphone line.

    We have recently upgraded from BPS 4.1 to BES Express 5.0 in the following manner:

    1. We had BPS 4.1 running on a individual server and database residing on a seperate SQL server.

    2. We installed BES Express on a second server in a VM and created a seperate database for it but on the same SQL Server.

    3. We activated 2new users (previouslynot on BPS 4.1)on the new BES ExpressServerand it activated without problem.

    4. Then we migrated one user from BPS 4.1 to BESX 5.0 in the following way:

    a. We created the user on BESX 5.0 and then deleted the user from BPS 4.1

    b. We wiped the handset.

    c. We activated the handset with new BESX 5.0

    4.We tried to follow similar steps for other users (the same day after 30 min) for migrating them from BPS 4.1 to BESX 5.0

    a. We deleted the user from BPS 4.1 and then added on BESX 5.0

    b. We wiped the handset

    c. We tried activating but following problem occured.

    The blackberry OTA activation hangs. It shows activating and for hours nothing happens.

    5 . On trying many optioins we notice that activation becomes successfull in a different mobile for the same user that failed on his own handset. But then when we try to activate on his handset it hangs at activating.

    When we try step 5for other user it is successfull sometimes and sometimes unsuccessfull.

    We have tried wired activation for above users and they fail.

    We receive ETP.DAT mail after 2 to 3 attempts but on beginning of activating a user we dont receive the mail. The mail then disappears automatically as it should. It is not being detected as spam.

    Please suggest what could be going wrong. Users that were activated in step 1 to 4 are working fine and all data is in sync but do not know what is happening to others. If they got activated then others should not fail and if others are failing then how come they are getting activated in a different handset sometime and then sometime all options are failing.

    Please suggest as we are in a desperate fix over here.

    On 21 June 2012 I phoned T Sales and ordered a 8 Gig/month service on a 24 month plan. That was Thursday afternoon. Later that evening, I had to phone back about something and when the salesperson went through my order, he asked why I hadn't requested a 4G mobile wifi device as I was in the 4G footprint. The first salesperson had not checked if I was able to get 4G. So this salesperson said he would cancel the 3G wifi service and replace it with a 4G service.

    He hadn't succesfully cancelled the 3G service because both a 3G and a 4G device arrived on Monday. I went ahead and activated the the 4G device with success.

    On Tuesday 26th June, I phoned Sales and requested them to take back the 3G device, they said they would send a recovery bag. Never arrived. I requested a total of 5 recovery bags over 6 weeks and finally on 16th August a recovery bag arrived and the3G device was sent back.

    The first bill (following ordering BigPond service) arrived on 25 July and included billing for not one, but 2 bigpond services, with an extra 71.55 inlcuded.

    I drove to my nearest Telstra store, where the store manager made some phone calls and told me that I should pay the bill, less the 71.55 as he had had it removed. So I paid the bill less the 71.55

    The 2nd bill arrived a few days after I had sent the recovery bag back to Teslstra with the 3G device, and the 71.55 was showing as still owing. Also, there were 2 bigpond services on this bill. The bill was very confusing, with some credit adjustments that had gone through, that made it look like the account was being sorted out as a result of Telstra having received the 3G device.

    I decided to wait until the next bill arrived to see if we were being charged the correct monthly fee, and paid the 2nd bill (less the 71.55)

    Today, the 3rd bill arrived, the 71.55 was showing as in arrears and I am being charged for 2 BigPond accounts when I have only ever requested and activated one.

    This has taken numerous phone calls, many hours of my time. Can someone at Telstra please do something?

    I purchased office professional 2010 educational version about 2 weeks ago, installed it and activated it. Everything worked fine until a few hours agoWord complained that it cannot verify my license and that I have to repair it. The repair didn't work.
    I then followed a description to uninstall and to use the FixIt
    MicrosoftFixit50450.msiafterwards to clean the system of office. After a reinstallation and activation Word opened without problems again. A little too euphoric I closed Wordand opened Excel and the upper error message showed up again.
    All updates and service pack 1 were installed and I used office under a standard user account in Windows 7 Professional.
    Any help is greatly appreciated. I would also be interested in when I will run into activation problems if I continue to deinstall and install/activate again?

    Glad to know that your issue has been resolved.
    Reinstalling the Office suite on the same computer is not considered as a different installation.
    If you have any issues, activating Office over the Internet, use the Activate over Phone, option and speak to a representative.

    I have taken the SKY connection (TV,phone, broadband) on 22nd April 2011, They convinced me for the delay of activating SKY TV on 1st MAY, phone and broadband on 12th MAY because of bank holidays, which is fair enough. However the TV was activated a day later on the said date,I didnt mind for the shorter delayand when the phone line is acitvated, i was told the broadband will be activated on 20th MAy, i have called many times on 20th May for broadband activation and every customer care person told me it will be acitvated by midnight, i waited till monring of 21st May but the internet is not activated. I have called at 8am on 21st may, around 10 am 21st may and around 12 pm on 21st may, all of them tried to troubleshoot but they failed, the cusomer care person who attended the call around 10 am told me there is a problem with router, hence she placed a new router for me. However when contacting again around 12pm on 21st May, i was told that there is no order placed but this problem should be taken up with customer solutions team and they should contact me within 72 hours the case number is 100037506181 and from there i have called enormeous times to contact the team but they asked to wait until 72 hours, even the superviors couldnt help me., so i waited 22nd may, 23rd may and even 24th may. 72 hours was over but i havent got any call from customer solutions team and i contacted the sky customer care team again 12pm on 24th may which they told , the case is escalated and i should receive call by End of day 24th May, i waited till 8:30pm on 24th May but the response is same..I am seriously upset with the quality of service from SKY, i have been waiting for my internet since 20th May and I still cannot use it. I want to take this very seriously, because i am really frustrated, if my internet is not connectedby tomorrowi want to cancel the sky completely (TV, phone, broadband) everything, because of the poor service by SKY.i am wasting lot of time (coz waiting times min 10-20 mts)contacting sky everyday but no progress made and it is a hassle and extra stress for me. I would expect an engineer to come home and fix my internet by tomorrow..

    Yet another case of Tier 1 Customer Support messing a customer about when the problem is well known and widely experienced. You will not get a call back from Tier 2, sorry. There's no point in Tier 1 promising this and making you hang around for a call that never comes.

    Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

    If your contract is still within the 8 working days cooling off period, it should be relatively easy to cancel and you should get a full refund of all monies paid. Check the back of the letter you've recieved from Sky for details.

    If that period has passed then you will need to argue your case. Send a letter to:

    Explain the nature of the problem and the ways Sky has let you down. Tell them you are cancelling the subscription due to their failure to provide the service you have paid for. Don't forget to ask them to refund subscriptions you have paid for services not received.

    Sky will tell you that you have to pay all 12 months' subscriptions as a cancellation penalty. If you argue they will cut that to 3 months' subscriptions. Point out that they are in breach of contract and demand a refund and no cancellation penalty.

    If that doesn't work, unfortunately you have to allow 8 weeks to pass before you can go on to the next stage, which is explained here:

    I've been told by a VZW 'technician' that my activation process is bogged down in a cluster of malfunctioning switches. But, no guidance regarding how the problem will be resolved, or when! Was told many customers were suffering this problem today, but my phone was one of four purchased today, and the other three achieved automatic activation in ten minutes or less. Does anyone at VZW really know what's happening here, and why?

    DB:2.44:Firefox 29 Is Slow To Load And Crashes Frequently xd



    After upgrading to Firefox 29, I have nothing but trouble. I already noticed that the past few versions were becoming more unstable than what I was used to with Firefox, but version 29 is horrible. After many hours of troubleshooting I am finding out that many others are reporting many problems with this version as well. I am a heavy user of Firefox and speed and stability along with ability to customize it matters a lot to me. Seems like Firefox 29 is taking some of that ability away from its users, and it is like a step backwards.

    Here are some specifics. I am using Windows 7 32-bit (on a 64-bit machine). I have hundreds of tabs open with several tab groups. After upgrading to Firefox 29, Firefox started crashing quite frequently and it would take several minutes to load (roughly 5 minutes). When Firefox was loading it was using 100% CPU on one of the two cores. Version 28 would load in several seconds. I tried disabling all add-ons in Firefox 29 and all my plug-ins are set to "Ask to activate". This reduced the load of Firefox 29 to a littile bit over a minute, but CPU usage is still 100% on one of the cores and memory utilization is 2 to 3 times higher than of Firefox 28. Firefox 29 uses about 1.3 GB of memory, while Firefox 28 would start off with a much smaller foot print and only start using more memory after more tabs are "activated" - I use "don't load tabs until selected" setting. At times Firefox 29 would lose my tabs and would not recover everything, I had to go back several times and replace sessionstore.js with a manually backed up file, as Firefox's backup lost too many things.

    How about if Mozilla reverts back to the old interface and focuses on fixing security issues, bugs, and improving performance and memory management? In my opinion that would be very valuable for Firefox users such as me. I want to thank Mozilla Firefox team for giving us an excellent browser, but my experience has degraded in latest few versions and I will be possibly looking for a replacement if Mozilla does not focus on the more important things - stability, performance, customizability.

    Ever since version 29 (the big change), and even now with 31, my FF takes a full minute to load. And Forcast Fox doesn't work anymore.
