    I am very new to both parallel programming and MPI. I've studied the basic MPI functions, but I don't have yet the mindset for solving problems in a parallel fashion. I'm kindly asking you guys to help me out with turning a sequential algorithm into a parallel
    one, using MPI. I'm talking about a traffic circle problem, presented in Michael J. Quinn's book, Parallel Programming in C with MPI and OpenMP, under the chapter Monte Carlo Methods, Case Studies, Traffic Circle (section 10.5.6). I had no trouble understanding
    the problem and the sequential algorithm, however I have no idea how I could extract parallelism from it. I know there are many parallel versions for this, anything would do. I really don't know where to start from. I mean, I can fantasise about parallel solutions,
    but i lack the skills to turn them into MPI code.
    I don't know the availability of that book, I could post the problem here, if that helps.

    yes, you can combine mkl with mpi. Please refer to the mkl user guide document. chapter 9 "Working with the Intel MKL Cluster Software". This chapter discusses the usage of MKL ScaLapack and Cluster FFT.

    I need to develop Remote Programing application for this application i have the following architecture

    1. Ethernet

    2. DDR2

    3. QSPI Flash

    4. Artix7 Fpga

    I am collect MCS file from the Ethernet using TFTP protocol, storing data in DDR2 and then writing the file in QSPI flash and then what i need to do to run the present MCS file which i had store in the QSPI flash.

    Is my approch is correct for the Remote Programming .

    Hi everyone,

    I was able to programm successfully my KL05Z32 using the USBDM_SWD_SER_JS16CWJ programmer.

    I was trying to initiliaze some components manually instead of using Processor Expert, specially the watchdog. I made some modifications and then I get the message that my uC was secured.

    Based on some posts I read here, I decided to change the uC. Now I'm having problems even to to detect the chip. When I try to detect I get this message:

    the plugins work, but I think the plungin has some bugs. For example the when you run the programm you can't choose the number of processes. The "Error-Message" Resolve Missing Native Build Tools can be ignored. Ich habe the mpi-compiler in my path.

    The compilers you get with any Linux distro will build either LAM or mpich MPI for you (gcc, f77 and friends). Get the latest MPI versions from their websites. The instructions they provide are pretty clear. You don't have to have f90 or f95 capabilities (blasphemy!) to build them and test them. If you do install a f90/95 compiler later, you will have to rebuild though, because the configuration pass skips things you don't have.

    This is the briefest tutorial there is for ProActive (as far as I know). I don't really have the time to help you search through other frameworks' documentation and really you should be doing this yourself.

    You can create variants for Module pool program using the transaction SHD0. You can create Screen variants for your screens using this Tcode.

    Go to SHD0 - Give the Transaction code(ZTRAN) for which you want to create a variant - name of some variant (ZVAR) - create - takes you to your transaction - Give the values that you want to be displayed as variants - Click on Save - Opens a pop up to confirm the screen entries - Check the check boxes of those fields that you have entered the data with (the column with check boxes that says W.Content) - Exit and Save - Save the variant - You can see a screen variant created (ZVAR_0100)

    Now Goto - Create variant transaction - Give your transaction variant name (ZVAR) - Select Transaction with variant - Takes you to SE93 transaction - Give the transaction variant name - save. Run with the created transaction.

Traditionally, mpi is designed for distributed memory, does intel MPI provide some special features to support direct main memory access? For example, if rank0 wants to access data stored in rank1 (but essentially the data is just in the main memory), does intel MPI have some APIs can let rank0 directly access the data to avoid message passing?

    Nearly all MPI implementations (including all of those for Intel(c) Xeon Phi(tm)) have default facility to use shared memory communication among ranks eligible to do so.  Needless to say, without this, MPI would be fairly useless on this or many other multiple core platforms.

    It might be interesting to have documentation about which library function calls visible when profiling (e.g. by VTune) are associated with message passing, and to know of options to improve cache behavior.  For Intel MPI on host, there are documented options to change default thresholds for switching between cache filling and bypassing, for example.

    I haven't seen written down a full set of reasons why multiple MPI processes per core aren't as effective as using the MPI_THREAD_FUNNELED model to support multiple threads per MPI process.  A problem with having multiple copies of a message in the same L2 but different L1 cache might be among them.

    In practice, it's usually necessary to combine the use of multiple MPI ranks using shared memory communication with each rank using multiple threads with exclusive use of one or more cores in order to optimize performance.  We may use anything from 5 MPI ranks of 36 OpenMP threads to 30 ranks of 2-6 threads.

    The answer depends on how you have your program set up.  If you are using a single program that recognizes based on rank number whether it is a master or slave, then you simply run as normal.  For example, if you are running 64 total ranks, using the hostfile ./hosts, you would run:

    mpirun -f ./hosts -n 64 ./a.out args

    If you have one binary for the master and a different binary for the slave, you can use an argument set to run.  So if you have 1 master rank and 63 slave ranks, you'd use:

    mpirun -f ./hosts -n 1 ./master master args : -n 63 ./slave slave args

    Then I did the same experiment using Keil. Here I am getting Error 18

    My problem: I'm call several MPI-queries from matser-node to slave nodes (MPI_isend - MPI_irecv -(slave work)-MPI_wait_all). Masteralso processes and answerthese query, but if master send answer in other thread, It
    hang in MPI_wait_allon request, that sended frommaster itself.
    Anyone can me answer, This normal MPI behavior?

    How MPI works in what aspect?
    MPIis Message Passing Interface. This means sending messages from one object to another object in the system via a queue. This is similar to the way windows communicate with eachother. This is also similar to the basic idea behind SOA and services:
    object communicate only over a queue (services use network queues).
    When object communicate over queues there is no risk of sharing violations because every resource has its own manager object. Also an object in the system can send several requests to other objects and collect the results later (instead of making sequential
    function calls).

    I am interested in using java for parallel computing. I googled a little, but I came to no conclusion. My priorities are:
    1) 100% Java
    2) MPI-compatibility (respect to the standard)
    3) Performance
    4) As few 3rd party software as possible.

    I am not excluding libraries using native MPI (e.g. javaMPI), but i prefer 100% java.

    What are your suggestions?

    I am mainly interested in distributed memory programming (no SMP), if any non-MPI library is worth to check please let me know.

    The first thing you must consider is that MPI is only a standard library, if you want to use MPI, you have to implement it. Although there are some implementation of MPI, most of them only support programmes written in C or Fortran.

    I have some source codes about parallel computing using MPI, I have tried it on SGI parallel computer, it works OK, but it was written in C, do you still need it?

    Hi. I am trying to do mpi programming on my laptop using c in visual studio 2010 express edition.
    I tried to debug my program using MPI Cluster Debugger.
    I received this error Unable to find the Visual Studio Remote Debugger files. Msvsmon.exe, mpishim100.exe, DebuggerProxy.dll and DebuggerProxy.dll.manifest are expected to be found in one of the following paths:
    Is it possible to solve this problem? Or I just need visual studio 2010 professional edition?

    I have the same issue as 'tamer man'.
    I downloaded and installed the remote debugging tools as described by 'eryang'. All the files mentioned in the error message there to be found in in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\Remote Debugger\x64.
    But Visual Studio can't seem to find them. I still get the same error message when I try to debug my program using MPI Cluster Debugger. I've tried adding this directory to my PATH and other paths but to no avail.
    So I repeat tamer man's question: Is it possible to solve this problem in the context of Visual Studio 2010 express?
    I might add that debugging my program (in a mode that doesn't use MPI) using the Local Windows Debugger works fine.

    If you want to start MPI process from your program use the MPI_Comm_spawn() call. Refer to the MPI standard for more details.

    The fault tolerance support is not required by current standard. So, you should learn the particular MPI implementation which you use if it provide any such functionality.

    Hi,

    You should not change standard table contents with SQL statements. Instead you should use BDC/BAPI. This is because if you enter data directly there is every chance that you may enter any junk into the table. consistenecy is lost. For example take SD module. A customer may be listed in a sales area. But when you are processing sales order for him, and if you are allowed to enter data directly you may enter a sales area in to which this customer does not belongs to. But still data is updated. you may enter a material for a plant in sales order in which case material does not belong to that plant ( these examples are only for explanation sake). So there needs to be some validation. This is done in transactions for which you write BDC programs and similar functionality is provided by BAPIs.

    One more point to consider is - take the same Sales Order example. When you create a sales order there is lot of business logic involved inside. When a sales order is created/changed some changes occur to material related data or delivery related data or billing related data. These all should happen when ever sales order is changed. So if you want to enter data directly into tables then you have to see all the dependecies and do changes to the related tables. You may miss out somethings. And these changes change from scenario to scenario.

    i hope you got the point.

    Take a real life example. If you want to deposit cash in bank, you will not go and throw cash on to cashiers face and tell your account number.You have a procedure there. Fill in voucher, give cash to cashier along with voucher. He takes cash and he too has some procedures to credit cash to your account. This had to pass a fool-proof procedures.

    Same is applied to data changed through BDC/BAPI.

    Hi all

    I have just bought a new Edge Router Lite and have been trying to get it setup over the weekend. I instantly upgraded it to the latest version v1.4.1 as it was running 1.0.2.

    Since starting to use the device I have noticed vairous issues creeping in. The main one being that eth1 or eth2 will not negoitate properly with devices properly. Either a cisco 2960 swich or an apple mac book pro have been tired. Eth1 and eth2 fall back to 10Mbps and then sever packet loss ensues. Many cables have been tried as well.

    Checking into this more, the device then decided to crash on me, and wiped all the config and since then the device has been pretty diffcult to manage. Have factory reset the device many times using the reset pin on the device.

    Something that I have noticed on the device this morning when looking over the console is that at boot, it now wont even boot and displays the following.

    suspect the memory might be corrupt based on the following.

    Any ideas?

    We normally install and run the Intel MPI compiler for Linux on RedHat systems. When building and installing the compiler for a SLES 10.2 system, we encountered the following warning message:

    WARN: Either the device /dev/shm was not found on your system or a mount entry wasn't found for it in the /etc/fstab file. Before using Intel MPI Library, Development Kit for Linux* OS, please make sure this device is present.

    Sure enough, no mount point for /dev/shm is defined in /etc/fstab (RedHat defines a mount point like this: tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0). The simplest test on the SLES 10.2 system seems to run (I'm only a sysadmin, so my knowledge of MPI programming is very limited). However, this does not give me a warm feeling (a real MPI pgm might notice the difference).

    My question is: has anyone installed the Intel MPI compiler on SLES 10, and if so what (if anything) has to be done to define the /dev/shm mount point?

    Ok, a little delay in my reply this time but I had a chat with our local cluster deployment experts.

    Generally, there should be nothing in /dev/shm. It's an implementation of the shared memory concept, used to pass data between programs (in our case, Intel MPI would be using/dev/shm topass data between MPI processes). It's kinda like virtual storage.

    If/dev/shm is indeed populated, go ahead and remove any contents and mount the tmpfs filesystem on top.

    The guys I spoke with said that this is a known issue with the Moab cluster provisioning system, where it copies some sysconfig files in /dev/shm (which should be empty). Is that what you're using? If yes, I would suggest getting in touch with Cluster Resources so they're aware of the problem and include a fix in their scripts.

    I am working on a fault-tolerant MPI program. My goal is that when one of the compute nodes fails due to network or hardware issue, the other nodes won't be affected.

    I am now using MPI::ERRORS_THROW_EXCEPTIONS and MPI::Exceptions to catch MPI errors. To test my program, I kill one of the MPI processes during the execution. But then all the other processes abort too. Does this mean that my program is not handling MPI exceptions correctly? Or that I should use some other way to test the program?

The moment one user is running a debug session with an MPI program, the second user on the same machine will be unable to launch the debug session with mpishim. We are using Windows (HPC) Server 2008 with Visual Studio Enterprise.If this is a general limitation, that would be really bad. We are a University teaching parallel programming, which includes MPI.     I am writing some toy code to test the MPI programming on MICs. My code worked on one Xeon Phi card, also worked between host and one Xeon Phi card, but got frozen if running on two Xeon Phi cards of the same host. The running command is like: mpirun -host mic0 -n 4 /hellompi.MIC : -host mic1 -n 4 /hellompi.MIC.

    After digging in, I found that the issue is in MPI_Init(argc, argv) function. If i disabled this function, as well as other MPI related functions, the program could be launched in both Xeon Phi cards simultaneously.

    Any one knows why? Thanks!

    Argonne MPICH continues in use for Windows clusters up to 8 CPUs. It was built with CVF, continues to work when linked with Intel Fortran, although no longer supported. I heard the developers went to work for Verari. Clusters of 16 Windows CPUs are more often run with a master node running Samba (not Windows), partly due to the high cost of Windows Server.

    Rumors of other developments are heard, but nothing definite yet.

    The Chain endchain method is a way of input checks in dialog modules.

    Suppose you have input fields f1, f2 , f3 etc.

    If you write the foll. st,

    CHAIN.

    FIELD: f1, f 2,...

    MODULE mod1.

    FIELD: g1, g 2,...

    MODULE mod2.

    ...

    ENDCHAIN.

    When this command is used, all of the fields on the screen that belong to the processing chain (all of the fields listed in the field statements) are made ready for input again. Other fields are not ready for input. Whenever the MODULE statement appears within a processing chain, even if there is only one FIELD attached to it, all of the fields in the chain (not only the affected field) are made ready for input again, allowing the user to enter new values. If the fields in the processing chain are only checked once, the PAI processing continues directly after the FIELD statement, and the preceding modules are not called again.

    As you, I'm working on a fault-tolerant MPI Program. These things that you have put about MPI_ERROR_RETURN doesn't work if a fail occurs. What you have to do is an fault-tolerant mechanism in your application, e.g, a failure detector and recovery. I did it, but I have a problem to clean all messages in communication channels and to recovery the application.

    Suppose this situation: You have 2 nodes A and B. A sends messages to B. Besides, B failed in some time and a message from A to B was already sent. In this case, TCP will try to retransmit this message until a certain number of times, 15, by default. I had to increase this number, because after 15 times is reached, TCP gives an error and pass it to MPI layer. I noted that Intel MPI aborts application. This behaviour doesn't repeat with Open MPI.

    If you need more details, ask me. I know that what I put don't help you a lot but I'm trying to show you the challenges that you will face.

    PTB4 port is NMI signal of default on MKE06Z64.

    I connected this port to LED and resister to GND.

    This NMI signal is read when the Reset signal rises.

    At this time, NMI port is an internal pull-up. So ,this port cannot wire the pull down circuit.

    And therefore, The voltage of NMI port drops in the influence of the LEDresister.

    In 5.0V power supply, This voltage decisioned low level for NMI state.

    In 3.3V power supply, This voltage decisioned high level for normal state.

    If this signal is pulled down, CPU becomes NMI state.  This state is the same when the debugger conection.

    The same program works well when written in C, so the problem arises only in Fortran and Solaris.

    We found a simple workaround, we have to compile with "-x02" and the NI var is ok!

    "Credential" is a pair of Windows user name and password. They have to be the samefor all nodes in your cluster.

    So, you need to start smpd services under admin rights, but you can start your application as a user, but you need to set the same name/password pairs on all nodes.
    And you need to be a user in Remote Desktop Users group on all nodes as well.

    Please check this and let me know.

    Hi,

    I have an MPI program, which runs fine on a Windows cluster over Ethernet. When I run it using IPoIB and start one processor on each node, there's also no problem. However, when I try to start multiple processes on each node, it hangs. Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

    This is the script I use to run the program (there are 4 hosts in total). I am using Intel MPI on Windows RT 4.0.3.009, and the operating system is Windows Server 2008 R2.

    I've attached the slides from the webinar. Below are the questions that came in and my answers to them.

    Q: Is it true that the do concurrent construct ALWAYS parallelizes the code? It is stated that it is the coder responsibility to make sure there are no dependencies -- yet it seems that the compiler is still checking things.

    A: DO CONCURRENT requests parallelization (when auto-parallel is enabled) but it is not a guarantee. If the compiler can prove there is a dependence - for example if you assign to a procedure-scope scalar variable inside the loop - it may decline to parallelize. You can enable optimization reports to see what it did. DO CONCURRENT is also an aid to vectorization.

    Q: In my experience so far with coarrays, the critical factor in good performance is the proper distribution of work across images, since communication between images is very slow. Will this aspect of the Intel coarray implementation be improved?

    Q: Why is data transfer between coarrays on different images so slow?

    A: Yes, we are actively working on performance improvements. An early effort is enabled in the Composer XE 2013 Update 1 compiler if you add the option /switch:coarray_opts (on Linux, -switch coarray_opts). These changes will be the default in a future major version. Please note that /switch (-switch) is undocumented and is not something you should depend on long-term, but if we tell you about a particular use of it, feel free to try it out and let us know how it works for you.

    Q: You have to supply -parallel/-Qparallel to get DO CONCURRENT to parallize (assuming it's safe to do so)?

    A: Yes.

    Q: Can I say: if iteration sequence is not important replace do loop by do concurrent?

    A: Yes, you can do that.

    Q: In shared memory, MKL already provides several linear algebra procedure that are automatically multi-threaded. Do co-arrays complement that functionality in any way? Are co-arrays compatible with BLAS and LAPACK routines?

    A: Intel MKL uses OpenMP internally for threading. While we have not done extensive testing combining coarrays with other parallel methodologies, we don't know of any reason why you shouldn't be able to pass the local part of a coarray to a BLAS or LAPACK routine. It will just be treated as a local variable.

    Q: What about debugging tools? Dubugging is currently very primitive!

    A: Yes, it is. In the Fortran for Linux release notes we give instructions on how to debug coarray applications. I think one can also use Rogue Wave TotalView there. On Windows there isn't anything comparable, though we're investigating options. PRINT statements work...

    Q: I understand there's no in-line assembler ability (I think you just said that), but can the compiler output assembler at all?

    A: Yes. On Windows, use /FA. On Linux, -S.

    Q: it seems to me that coarrays do something very similar to a regular array with extra dimensions. Am I missing something?

    A coarray application runs in parallel, which can reduce overall runtime and can potentially scale out to hundreds and thousands of "images". It's not appropriate for all applications.

    Q: What is wrong with "forall"?

    Q: Why "do concurrent" is better than "forall"?

    A: The semantics of FORALL don't provide the guarantee against loop dependencies needed for effective parallelization. Also, many people misunderstand the way FORALL executes. DO CONCURRENT has parallel-friendly semantics and fewer restrictions on what can be in the loop body.

    Q: Do every MPI enabled program can be parallelized using Coarrays instead? Or maybe coarrays are suitable only for some of algorithms?

    A: I would not say "every" MPI program, but if your program is already structured to use MPI you'll probably find coarrays easier to integrate than if you're using OpenMP only. The advantage of coarrays is the integration into the language and ease of programming.

    Q: Bearing in mind this is a relative new feature, what kind of performance benefits would you get from the present implementation of the coarrays?

    A: In the current implementation, an application that does a lot of work inside the image and is not dominated by moving data between images will see benefits from coarray parallelization. Right now, the productivity improvements are perhaps stronger. Over time, performance will be better.

    Q: Does the compiler support inline assembly?

    A: No. Intel C++ does support this, though we discourage it in general. You can call assembler routines from Fortran if you wish.

    Q: Could you elaborate on C inter-operability

    Q: What are pacularites debugging parallel programs in composer?

    A: On Linux, the Intel Debugger (and Rogue Wave TotalView) have numerous features for debugging parallel applications. On Windows, the Visual Studio debugger can do some thread control and also has "attach to process" capability.

    Q: Before updating intel professional 11. 1 to composer what parallel properties of fortran 2008 we can stll use?

    A: Intel Fortran 11.1 does not support any of the Fortran 2008 parallel features.

    Q: How are coarrays designed to fit in the model of using MPI to parallelise across cluster nodes and OpenMP within them? Thanks!

    A: Our implementation of coarrays uses MPI as the underlying transport layer. Coarrays in general are similar to the "one-sided" MPI model.

    Q: Coarrays are not supported for Mac OS?

    Q: What prevents the implementation of these features on Macintoshes?

    Q: What is the limitation that prevents Co Arrays on the Mac?

    A: We do not support coarrays on OS X. The initial barrier is that Intel MPI is not supported there, and we use special features of Intel MPI to manage the "launch" of a coarray application. While we do have the ability to disable this launch feature (requiring you to do your own mpirun), we have not built the compiler and libraries to support coarrays on OS X. We don't have current plans to do so, but are always interested in hearing from customers who would like to see this in the future.

    Q: When is the block feature expected to be added?

    A: I can't give a timeframe for this. It remains high on our list of things to do.

    Q: Can you expand on the new Event() functionality, as it pertains to a parallel operation in multi-core environments?

    A: I talked about events in the context of the "Enhanced coarray features" technical specification being developed for Fortran 2015. At present, there is just a general outline which you can read in ftp://ftp.nag.co.uk/sc22wg5/N1901-N1950/N1924.txt

    Q: Do the number of images correspond to the number of hardware cores in a computer?

    A: By default, it uses the number of execution threads supported by the system, so that is sockets * cores * threads. You can control this with a compile option or the FOR_COARRAY_NUM_IMAGES environment variable.

    Q: Will it be able to give comparable/better performance to openmp or MPI applications in the future?

    A: It should be comparable to a well-written MPI application in the future, though MPI gives you a lot more control that may be beneficial. Look instead at coarrays as providing scalable parallelism in a way that is well-integrated with the Fortran language.

    Q: Will the parallelization opportunities from DO CONCURRENT be any better than OpenMP as far as the compiler is concerned?

    A: I would say no - DO CONCURRENT is pretty much equivalent to an OpenMP parallel DO. OpenMP gives you a lot more control over things such as loop-private variables, scheduling and the like. But DO CONCURRENT is easy and doesn't require you to become an expert in OpenMP.

    Q: Do all routines called from a "do concurrent" require recursive?

    A: (This is a somewhat different answer than I gave during the webinar.) The standard requires that any procedure you call in a DO CONCURRENT be PURE. There is no requirement that it be RECURSIVE. If you have enabled the compiler's auto-parallelism feature, procedures will be "recursive" by default but if you are calling external procedures they will need to be thread-safe.

    Q: How does Block : End block construct differ from the Associate : End Associate Contruct ?

    A: BLOCK creates a new variable whose scope is entirely within the execution of the BLOCK. In the context of DO CONCURRENT, a BLOCK in the loop body creates a separate variable for each iteration of the loop. ASSOCIATE creates an alias for a variable or expression in an outer scope, not an entirely new variable.

    Q: We have build MPICH2 with Intel compiler, and running Superbayes (using mpirun), on 48 cores (12 nodes SLURM). How about purchasing Intel Cluster toolkit or studio will help?

    A: You would be able to use the Intel Trace Analyzer and Collector to look at your MPI traffic and detect problems such as deadlocks. You wouldn't have to use the Intel MPI it includes, but Intel MPI is API-compatible with MPICH2.

    Q: Can you preference coarray threads to run in specific cores?

    A: You can use Intel MPI support for process affinity to select how cores are assigned to MPI processes. Note that coarray images are separate processes, not threads.

    Q: Are there any plans for incorporating inter-operability with the GNU UPC Compiler?

    A: No.

    The module mod is called whenever the function code of the user action is CS with function type S. If you use this statement, u assign the same function code CS to function key F2. This also assigns it to the mouse double-click.

    It looks like there is a bug in the way Intel MPI interacts with SLURM.  I had the following hostlist in SLURM_JOB_NODELIST

    itc[011-012,021,101]

    Other versions of MPI such as OpenMPI have had no problems interpreting this.  However Intel MPI when it used that node list it tried to find itc017.  That isn't even a valid hostname let alone at that hostlist.

    I wrote a script to bypass this and generate the correct host list and explicitly pass it to Intel MPI.  However, it would be better to fix this inside of Intel MPI itself.

    I have linked all the open-mpi library files with the project and the project compiles without any issues. I am running this code on a INTEL CORE 2-DUO PROCESSOR (6600 @ 2.4 GHz)

    I would expect the above code to run on both processors and print both of them; assuming that the open-MPI interfacing has correctly been established (as I have no compile or run-time errors) .

    However, the output of this code is

    Processor 0 of 1 : Hello World!
    Press any key to continue . . .

    Could someone please suggest as to what could be the problem here ? Am I missing any Project Settings for enabling the parallel programming in the Processors ? I am fairly new to parallel processing and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    @arjenmarkus :Originally, I had used the IDE to execute the program and I expected the mpi processes to automatically start the parallization (assuming a similar procedure as OpenMP) . But Now, I have understood that it has to be done separately in the command prompt by starting the parallelization engine using mpirun/mpiexec.

    There are two types of forms are available

    Print forms -

    is nothing but Offline forms

    Interactive forms --- is nothing but Online forms, During run time you can change the field value and thosse value have been saved in the respective tables...

    What additional software do I have to purchase, if any, in order to run MPI codes on a single Phi card?  On two Phi cards in one host?  On two Phi cards installed in separate hosts (i.e. on a distributed memory cluster)?

    I am also interested in running Unified Parallel C (UPC) and Coarray Fortran codes in these configurations.  Are these programming models supported on Phi?  If so, are there any limitations that I should be aware of?

    Intel MKL from version 10.2 and Intel MPI Library from version 4.0 may balance workload on a node. Number of MPI processes plus number of MKL threads will not exceed number of cores on a node. You don't even need to use OMP_NUM_THREADS or MKL_NUM_THREADS.
