Short of moving the AspectManager into the bootstrap-beans.xml, what mechanism do we have to introduce aspects into the bootstrap classes like MainDeployer, and ProfileService?

I moved the install of the JBossServer bean to before the loading of the bootstrap xml. Update your system module to pickup the org.jboss.system.server.profileservice.ProfileServiceBootstrap change and try that.

Anyone knows how to depoly aspect module. In the DFC 6.0 development guide, it mentions this:For details on deploying aspect modules, please see the Documentum Foundation Classes Release Notes Version 6However, in the release notes, it says the following:Aspect modules have been exposed for public use with DFC 6. However, the user interface for Aspect deployment has not yet been released. An interim method has been documented in the whitepaper, Aspect Deployment for DFC 6, available from the EMC Developer network, http://developer.emc.com/developer/.And I cannot find the document 'Aspect Deployment for DFC 6' in developer network.

DB:2.70:What Exactly Is The Term "Bootstrap" 9c

Can somebody provide a clear explanation to what "bootstrap" means?

DB:2.70:What Exactly Is The Term "Bootstrap" 9c

Sure. I'll avoid java and just blab about the problem in general.

All computers are designed with some ability to be started at a particular memory address. If there are no instructions in that memory located, well, the computer won't get very far.

Alternatively you could type in - somehow - a very large program. In fact, to do very much - say read from a disk - you might have to type in an awful lot. No fun.

So a challenge is to write a very small amount of code so the computer can start, and have that code load a larger amount of code and jump into it. That's bootstrapping.

    A few other random notes:

o Most, if not all, computers are designed so that the lowest level of bootstrap is stored somewhere in read-only memory - no typing required.

o You can view the process of getting a complete operating system - or a runtime system like java - as a bootstrapping operation: Start with something simple and limited, and birng up something complex and powerful.

Hi,I posted this in the JMX forum first, but since nobody replyed I thougt I could try here as this is about AOP as well.I need to create an aspect that can be managed by JMX. The idea is to use the aspect to obtain some stats(by intercepting calls) and to use JMX console to retrieve the stats.I created an XMBean and I added methods wich I use as advices.Everything works fine( the calls are intercepted and the XMBean is registered and accessible from the JMX console) with one exception - it seems that AOP and JMX create their own instances of the class. Aop intercepts the calls I make and updates the stats, but the XMBean values of the same stats(attributes) remain the same ( null in my case).I tried to use separate XMBean and aspect classes, but the problem is that in order to use the XMBean methods to update my stats, I have to expose them and once I do this - they are available to the users in the JMX console. My question is - is it possible to do write an Ascpect XMBean and if so - where should I look for more details. Thanks in advance.

Problem solved. I think. And you will never guess in a million years what the issue was. When I started this thread, my setup was all wrong from the perspective of SeamTest. I had an existing project, so seam-gen wasn't an option. Once I ran into trouble though, I used it to show me what things should look like as a model for my own setup. Eventually, I got things looking identical, yet my TestNG XML suite file would fail while the generated one would pass. Moreover, no matter what changes I was making, I continued to fail with the same error--that NPE I began the thread with.So it dawned on me that, at least at this point, maybe the way I was running the tests was causing the problem rather than my configuration. Sure enough, once I removed the following from my suite file, everything worked:

    groups
    run
    include name="integration.test"/
    /run
    /groups

I am using Tomcat 4.0. I am using some classes which is not in the context path/web-inf/classes. Usually u can start Tomcat in two way
    1. Using startup.bat
    2. Using bootstrap.jar

If I am setting the classpath in setclasspath.bat then I can only see the effect when I start Tomcat by point number 1. How do I make my bootstrap.jar take the customized classpath. My classpath variable is already set to the desired one but still bootstrap does not take it.

    Thanks in adv....

I'm not sure I understand the problem or question...

Do you want tomcat to use some classes as part of an application that aren't located under /webapps/app-name/WEB-INF/classes?

Or do you want tomcat itself to run using some alternative classes, hence the references to bootstrap.jar?

One thing we have talked about in the past is that the aspects module is a largely broken module in terms of dependencies since by definition the aspects are really integration code that is coupled to the associated subsystem the aspect integrates. We have talked about an integration project in the past, and one way this could be done would be to turn the aspect module into the integration project that houses the stable subsystem SPIs. The aspects/annotations would be part of this SPI.

I'm currently trying to get Byteman to instrument classes such as java.io.File, java.io.FileOutputStream etc. It looks like those classes are loaded *before* the Byteman's Main.premain is called - and according to the javadoc of Instrumentation.addTransformer you only get called in ClassFileTransformer.transform with classes that are loaded *after* that addTransformer call.I have had a look at what classes are loaded before addTransformer (using Instrumentation.getAllLoadedClasses() and the list is quite big. So I think it would be generally interesting to have a solution for this.At first I was mislead by my observation that Byteman's Main class imports java.io.File and that that would be the problem. But it looks like java.io.File is used way earlier in the JVM bootstrap process. Hence it wouldn't help removing that import.Any ideas for this issue?I tried going via Instrumentation.redefineClasses - but failedCheers,Stefan

Awesome! Just checked your fix for BYTEMAN-27 - works smooth as!I have only one input for the docu (it might just be me though not having figured it out myself): It was not rightly intuitive how you'd have to define constructor signatures if you had more than one - i.e. using METHOD (String, boolean).Maybe it would be worth a sidenote in the docu.Otherwise, got everything working with byteman as intended! Probably gonna use it extensively as quality assurance and paranoia checking tool!Cheers,Stefan

    DB:2.58:Jbmicrocont-31, Class Loading Model dm

One thing showing up with the addition of the hot deployment scanner is a lack of a class loading model from Deployer/MainDeployer level. We fist saw this when needing to add a hack to the ProfileServiceBootstrap that pulled the first DeploymentContext class loader from the bootstrap deployment phase. It showed up in the shutdown thread not knowing how to set the correct context class loader, and again with the hot deployment scanner not knowing this. Here is the current problem. We have a bootstrap URLClassLoader that includes the static mc and related jars. The is the default tcl. It has no access to the profile jars (server/default/lib for example). When we bootstrap the profile, the conf/bootstrap-beans.xml is loaded using the bootstrap class loader. We then add the legacy conf/jboss-service.xml which creates a ULR(unified loader repository) based on the profile static jars (server/default/lib/* for example) and there is an expectation that this URL will be the parent of subsequent deployment phases (deployers, deploy content). However, we don't have a class loading model/api that allows the caller of MainDeployer.process to establish a valid tcl, nor does the current DeploymentUnit.getClassLoader() allow the MainDeployer dispatch of deploy under the correct class loader. does The problem is that DeploymentUnit.getClassLoader() does not return a class loader until a deployer in the chain has created it. The deployer runs late in the process and prior deployers looking to the classpath for resources, classes imported from the bootstrap phase don't have valid class loader from either the tcl or DeploymentUnit apis.I think we need to look at how we are going to generalize the implicit ULR peer class loading model to an osgi bundle type of model and make that an explicit aspect of the deployment apis. At the start of each deployment phase we need to be able to establish a bootstrap bundle class loader that allows access to the structural classpath for local resources, as well as ties into imported parent/peer class loaders for shared resources/classes from previous deployment phases. The number of bundle class loaders would expand to include local classes and exported classes as the deployment process moves to the current class loader deployer(s).

    DB:2.58:Jbmicrocont-31, Class Loading Model dm

A somewhat related issue is how component deployers support fine grained hot deployment. For example, if servlets, jsp, ejb, etc should be redeployable by just updating the class file to pickup business logic only changes, the deployers need to isolate such components in bundles that have no exports of resources/types. This should just be class loading metadata associated with the component that ties into the class loading model.

The PIM is ok (active) and I can see agent state changes on the Aspect via the ICM.

RCD table shows what I would expect to see eg label is the TR route number and Target Label is the final CCT.

The Aspect is running a 2 step CCT at the moment but this can be moved to a 3 if you recomend that.

    Can anyone help?

    DB:2.57:Aspect Icm 7.0 Integration js

I believe we did resolve this. From memory there were a number of issues in getting ICM/Aspect working together.

One was ensuring that you used a fully resolved machine name (eg machine name and domain) to define the aspect connection.

The second which I think is the one above was caused by the customer trying to run multiple ICM connections to a single Aspect without properly defining the resources on the Aspect side. Eg multiple ICM connections require a full set of dedicated links/agents/skills/CCT's etc you can't share these resources as if you do the Aspect does not know which link to use to communicate back to ICM.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,

I have a CDI extension (.jar file) which does some integration with resteasy. I am wondering what is needed to have this extension placed in the AS so that it does not have to be placed in a deployed application. Obviously, I can put the .jar in a lib folder in the AS to have classes on the application's classpath, but that is not enough since the container won't call extension's bootstrap listeners (it will only do it for extensions packaged in WEB-INF/lib, etc..) Therefore, I need to add my extension to the deployed application at runtime somehow.

Is it somehow possible to manipulate the deployment for the container to consider my .jar as deployed within WEB-INF/lib of the application? I guess that a custom deployer is the right place to do this, but I am not sure how to do it (perhaps a classloader or VFS manipulation?) Could you advise which API to use? In response to http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3983302#3983302, I am looking at integrating the aop-mc integration code with JBoss 5. I have more or less got this working on my machine. A few things:1) In order for the AOPConstructorJoinpointFactory to be used, I have had to add jboss-aop-mc-int.jar to the root jboss/lib directory since the check done by the PropertyConfiguration is done when first started. Unless I move server/xxx/lib/javassist.jar server/xxx/deployers/jboss-aop-jboss5.deployer/jboss-aop-jdk50.jar server/xxx/deployers/jboss-aop-jboss5.deployer/trove.jarinto jboss/lib as well I get NoClassDefFoundErrors when accessing the jboss-aop-mc-int.jar classes - probably because the classloader used for loading up the jboss/lib classes cannot see the classes loaded up from the server/xxx/lib and server/xxx/deployers directory.2) It slows the startup time of the default configuration from about 37s to 45s on my machine. The AspectManagerService currently has an "exclude" property to set all classes starting with "org.jboss." to not be transformed/inspected, which works on the underlying AspectManager singleton. However the AspectManagerService is installed as part of the AspectDeployer, which is one of the last deployers to be deployed, meaning that inspection is done of all beans before it has been installed since the AspectManagerService has not yet been installed. This is also controllable via system properties, so the run.sh/.bat files could be modified to use that, so that this is picked up before the AspectManagerService has been installed. I think I would prefer some way for inspection of classes to be "turned off", until the AspectManagerService has been installed. Is there a way to swap out the ConstructorJoinPointFactory returned by the AOPJoinpointFactoryBuilder at runtime, so that it returns the BasicJoinpointFactory until the AspectManagerService is installed, and the AOPJoinpointFactory after the AspectManagerService has been installed? I can think of at least one hacky way to do this :-)I guess the question is, do we want the mc, and deployers installed before the AspectDeployer, to have this integration with the aspect layer or not? Do we care about the performance at this stage?

    DB:2.57:@Jmx Aspect And Aop/Mc Integration 9f

Thanks, that worked. To express my gratitude, here's another one ;-)Problem now is a bean with a non-default constructor -- the value passed to the c'tor is null if the @JMX annotation is applied. E.g.:

    annotation@org.jboss.aop.microcontainer.aspects.jmx.JMX(name="jboss:service=DefaultPartition", exposedInterface=org.jboss.ha.framework.server.ClusterPartitionMBean.class)/annotation

    annotation@org.jboss.aop.microcontainer.aspects.jmx.JMX(name="jboss:service=DistributedReplicantManager,partition=DefaultPartition", exposedInterface=org.jboss.ha.framework.server.DistributedReplicantManagerImplMBean.class)/annotation

    Hi,

I was wondering what's the best way to specify custom classes that override standard Java classes. For example, I want to use a modified java.awt.Frame class instead of the original version. Having looked around the net, I found three alternatives to go about this: endorsed directory, extension directory, and bootstrap classpath.

Please correct me if the following interpretation is wrong:
    1. Endorsed directory: Only used for overriding classes in packages listed in http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/standards/
    2. Extension directory: Only used for overriding classes in javax package/subpackages
    3. Bootstrap classpath: Looks like this is the most appropriate option for me

But basically I'd like to know your opinions on whether specifying bootstrap classpath is appropriate, especially in terms of being a standard feature and thus available in different VMs?

Strangely, I've been using the endorsed directory to use my version of java.awt.Frame class and that works for me.

    Thanks,

    Hendrik

    DB:2.55:Overriding Jre Class Path s9

    Thanks for the reply,

Sorry I've used some ambiguous terms in my original explanation.

Basically in my scenario, I am not trying to extend a class (by overriding its methods), but rather to use a completely different class/implementation. I don't think what I am trying to do here is completely foreign (or inappropriate) as this kind of thing has been done in AOP tools such as AspectJ or bytecode engineering tools such as BCEL, which modify existing Java classes.

What I'd like to get clarified here is what's the best way to tell the JVM to use the modified classes instead of the original ones?

We have developed our own ClassLoader in order to load the plugins from a path or with a user interface upload function.

The class loader hierarchy should be something like this:

For example when Hibernate tries to load classes definied in mapping files we got a java.lang.ClassNotFoundException.

Is there a way to load classes dynamically to OurSystems class loader or notify it about PluginClassLoaders classes?

Or is this a bad way to do it?

DB:2.53:Dynamic Class Loading From Jars In Web Application 3a

    Hello,

I'm working on a web project in which we would like to dynamically load plugins without server restart.

We have developed our own ClassLoader in order to load the plugins from a path or with a user interface upload function.

The class loader hierarchy should be something like this:
    Bootstrap
    |
    System
    |
    Common
    / \
    Catalina Shared
    / \
    Webapp1 OurSystem
    \
PluginClassLoaderThe all works fine within the classes loaded in the PluginClassLoader, but classes loaded in OurSystems class loader cannot access classes loaded in PluginClassLoader. For example when Hibernate tries to load classes definied in mapping files we got a java.lang.ClassNotFoundException.

Is there a way to load classes dynamically to OurSystems class loader or notify it about PluginClassLoaders classes?

Or is this a bad way to do it?

    Best regards,
    Kristoffer Renholm

    Hi,

I'd like to now what is the level of integration for Less and Bootsrap in the current 5.0.0 ALPHA1 or SNAPHOT Richfaces version. Can be used out of the box or what are the steps to integrate manually the last version of Bootstrap in RF5?

DB:2.52:Rf5 What Is The Current Status Of Rf5 In Ralation To Less And Bootstrap pm

    Hey H G,

    RF 5.0.0.Alpha1 ~= RF 4.3.2.Final

It means there is no specific support for LESS/Bootstrap.

There are some more details in roadmap: https://community.jboss.org/message/823882

We were able to prototype support of Bootstrap in Sandbox:

    https://bootstrap-richfaces.rhcloud.com/

However we are focusing on leveraging full potential of LESS and Bootstrap family in RichFaces 5.

    Alpha2 will bring first fruits.

    Hi,

For those who are looking for examples on how to integrate HornetQ and Spring, you may check this out:

    http://code.google.com/p/jbosstown/source/browse/#svn/trunk/p/hornetq-spring-examples

This project shows how to bootstrap a HornetQ server using Spring container. And there a couple client examples using Spring. See the README.txt for instructions on how to compile and run it.

    Enjoy,

Now I understand there is an article on warning about using Spring JmsTemplate.

    http://community.jboss.org/wiki/CanIusetheSpringJMSTemplatewithHornetQ

My comment on this article is that it is true JmsTemplate does provide the simple send/receive method that close out connection every call, but user certain doesn't have to use that to take advantage of JmsTemplate. There are many #execute methods that take callback interfaces that let you have full control on JMS session and connection objects.

    See my example usage here:

    http://code.google.com/p/jbosstown/source/browse/trunk/p/hornetq-spring-examples/src/main/java/deng/hornetq/spring/examples/client/JmsTemplateExample.java

DB:2.50:Question About Adding A Folder With Classes To The Classpath pj

Hey guys, quick description (hopefully) and a question -

basically I have a couple of j2ee apps which share a common piece of code ("core"). The folders are pretty much:

    - core

    - classes

    - com

    - blabla

    - someclasses.class

    - app1 (structure of an EAR)

    - META-INF

    - app1 war

    - app1 ejb

    - app2

    - similar to above

What I want is to have the apps run from app1 and app2 folder (by adding the apps "roots" in server/conf/bootstrap/profiles.xml), and, in the same time, the apps to find the classes in core/classes folder. With other container is possible using the CLASSPATH env var (in Weblogic for example), or using "Shared Libraries" (in WebSphere, libraries.xml would have a classpath pointing to the core/classes).

Any idea how could I achieve this in JBoss?

    Appreciate any answer,

    Ranjix

DB:2.50:Question About Adding A Folder With Classes To The Classpath pj

Static or singleton, it doesn't matter. You are still stuck packaging the common classes in a JAR and including that JAR in both EARs and defining a classloader repository. Unless you place the JAR completely ouside of JBoss AS and write your own classloader.

Is there an easy way only have the bootstrap jboss server startup once, run all my test classes, and then shutdown?

    Hi all,
I want to install bootstrap package in monaco web site. I use:
    nuget install bootstrap
But this command downloads bootstrap and jQuery packages expanding the package structure, so with:
    bootstrap.3.0.3/content/content

    bootstrap.3.0.3/content/scripts

    Hi Marco,

Sorry for the delayed reply. I looked into this and it doesn't seem like nuget.exe has this ability by itself. Normally this behavior is handled by the integration nuget has with VS via the project system. Since Monaco doesn't currently have a project system,
we're not able to handle this case for now.

    Cheers,

    Bootstrap.getInstance().bootstrap();

The plan would be to make the ClassLoader intercept

Will i have problems replacing (for example)

classloader and returning it as if it was the right
one? Nope. To replace it, it must have the same name.

And keep in mind that replacing the core classes means you can not distribute your application. Unless you have negotiated a seperate contract with Sun.

    Hi,

In PI 7.0 it is not possible to connect 2 PI system at the same time to proxy from ECC.

If you are using PI 7.1 you can do this by using WS-RM adapter. For that publish that proxy class as web-servie in SOAMANAGER of ECC. And then use that URL in WS-RM adapter of PI 7.1.

By using this you can use that proxy class with any number of PI system at the same time.

Where can I find any SDK-type advice, guidance on how best to use built-in SharePoint 2013 CSS classes such as ms-dialogBody in the aspx page that my Custom Ribbon Bar action launches via SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog?
The rest of the application uses Twitter Bootstrap CSS classes, but I find that, when using showModalDialog, those classes fight with and conflict with the autoSize:true option of showModalDialog, which is why I am thinking that, in
this one case, I should NOT use the Bootstrap classes on my div and other elements within the aspx page launched by showModalDialg but, instead, try to use some of the comes-with-SharePoint-2013 ones, like ms-dialogBody. The problem is, I have not
found any documentation, tutorials, or other suitable forms of guidance on how to use them.

If you think development is tough now, think how hard it was using punched cards :-)

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to know the css classes about the built-in modal dialog in SharePoint.
.ms-dialog applied to HTML element that is the start of the dialog box contents within the iFrame; child of the 'ms-dlgFrame' IFRAME element.

Only used as a parent selector in descendent selector style statements.
    http://sharepointexperience.com/csschart/csschart.html
There are two articles about the dialog box styling, you can have a look at them.

    DB:2.48:Aspect-Oriented cz

    hi guys,

i have this senario and i want know if that is possible. i want to apply some aspect-oriented concept.
i want to have something like, say two classes. one extract some piece of data from xml file and use JSP to display the data.
another class/aspect that log the same data from the xml to a text file( for simplicity, but it could be a database).

so i want the logging to be the crosscutting concerns.i.e as i read the xml and display the dat,the logging also happens.

how can i go about this problem?
    any good links on these?

    DB:2.48:Aspect-Oriented cz

As an example of one aspect we do use for logging, any service method (annotated in Spring with the @Service stereotype) that takes longer than 5 seconds results in a warning in the logs. We also have a custom annotation @Latent that you can decorate a method with and increase the amount of time before the warning is emitted. That's one example where logging can come in useful, since IMO it is better to find out about latency before a user complains about it (yes, I know, it should be caught in testing, but some latency does not show up until you are running against real data or real load, so I still think it is useful). Another one where logging is useful is error handling. Why bother to printStackTrace() throughout your code? Again, use the aspect to catch any exceptions in the service tier, output the error, and potentially take some other action (like a page to support, etc.)

JavaDoc tells, that every ClassLoader tracked its loaded classes, and, if you drop ClassLoader, classes, loaded by it, dropped too. Loading classes with own class-loader is only way to build dynamically changed programm.

But, if classes to load placed in CLASS_PATH, they loaded with boostrap class-loader anyway, not by my ClassLoader, binds to bootstrap and always stay in memory, even if my own class-loader are garbage collected. So, there's no ability to build dynamically change programm.

It seems, like a bug. Or not?

Classes, all classes, are collected by the GC when there are no longer any active references. A class loader is a class.

If a class has an active reference then the class loader that loaded it will also have an active reference.

So a class loader will never be collected until it has not active references and until the classes loaded by it do not have any active references.

But, if classes to load placed in CLASS_PATH, they loaded with boostrap class-loader anyway, not by my ClassLoader, binds to bootstrap and always stay in memory, even if my own class-loader are garbage collected. So, there's no ability to build dynamically change programm.

A class loader can choose to defer to a parent class loader. If a class loader does that and the parent loader (in the chain) uses the java class path to load classes, then it will find the classes.

Thus the parent class loader is the owner.

The solution is do not implement a solution that does that. Either do not defer to the parent at all, do not defer to the parent until the correct check is done, or as noted do not put the classes in the java class path (or actually in anyway such that a parent will load it.)

By the way the best method is to not put it in the class path. That way incorrect implementations and runtimes are much more easily discovered.

When U install SQL Server 2005 there is a system to check wether your system meet minimum configuration or not, see SCC(System Configuration Checked) on the Setup Screen, it will tell u which part on your system that doesn't meet minimum requirement.

We have a web application in production that uses:a) jboss 4.2.1 + jdk 1.5b) spring 2.5.1c) hibernate 3.2d) struts2We want to migrate to jdk 1.6 and jboss 5.1. While doing that, our application has stopped loading because of jboss5 vfsfile protocol. Right now it is spring which is giving the problem but I suspect that other components listed above are also going to start complaining (once I go past resolving the spring problem). We use ContextLoaderListener to bootstrap our application context and our app is heavily dependent on spring (bean creation, transaction management, dao classes use hibernatedaosupport, pojo based service classses) and we don't use ejb.I went through "https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBSPRING-4" and "http://jira.springframework.org/browse/SPR-5120" and added the jboss5-spring integration jars attached therein in my WEB-INF/lib. I also added the following to my web.xml based on the recommendation in "https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBSPRING-4" :
    context-param
    param-namecontextClass/param-name
    param-valueorg.jboss.spring.factory.VFSXmlWebApplicationContext/param-value

DB:2.46:Issue With Synchronizing Oid With Secure Ldap Server 9p

    Hi,

We are trying to bootstrap AD users from a secure LDAP server. The Integration server server is not able to connect to LDAP server using SSL certificate + username + password. The dipassistant bootstrap command yields a SSLHandshake error. We have configured odi.properties to point to the right wallet and wallet password, as explained in the admin guide.

This is what we found in OAS 10.1.2 release notes.

    ===
17.2.2 Directory Integration and Provisioning Assistant Does not Support SSL Mode 2

In 10g Release 2 (10.1.2), you can use the Directory Integration and Provisioning Assistant with either a non-SSL connection or an SSL connection with no authentication, namely SSL Mode 1, which provides encryption on the connection. You cannot use the Assistant with SSL mode 2 in which one-way (server only) SSL authentication is required
    ===

Is it possible to bootstrap and synchronize users from Secure LDAP server into OID? If so, please provide links to appropriate documents where this is explained. If not, please confirm.

    Thanks.

DB:2.46:Issue With Synchronizing Oid With Secure Ldap Server 9p

What type of certificates do you use? You should have the root CA certificates installed as well, or import the OID server certificate in AD as trusted certificated (not User, or Other) in case of self-signed certificates.
Also, there's a bug; your certificate comment should match the certificate dn - that could explain why ldapbindssl can work, but the actual bootstrapping not (Metalink Note 430907.1/bug 5846519)

DB:2.46:New Bindingregistry Spi And Embedded Wrapper Classes pc

I've created a new BindingRegistry SPI that is currently only used by JMSServerManagerImpl. Previously JMSServerManagerImpl was hardcoded to deploy all of its factory and destination bindings into JNDI. If you wanted to use hornetq-jms.xml files to configure HornetQ you were required to have a JNDI server running.

While JMSServerManagerImpl remains backward compatible, I added the ability to provide your own BindingRegistry implementations, i.e. a simple Map, or a Spring context.

I also added some Embedded wrapper classes that allow you to use hornetq configuration files to configure everything, yet bootstrap crazily simply within code. I don't know whether to make these classes public (they are used by the Spring integration at the moment)

    The classes are:

org.hornetq.core.server.embedded.EmbeddedHornetQ if you want to embed a core HornetQ instance

org.hornetq.jms.server.embedded.EmbeddedJms. This class will create a MapBindingRegistry and bind to a simple map by default instead of defaulting to JNDI.

These classes, by default, will look for thse config files in your classpath

    hornetq-configuration.xml

    hornetq-jms.xml

    hornetq-users.xml

hornetq-configuration.xml and hornetq-jms.xml classpaths can be changed, although I haven't figured out yet how to change hornetq-users.xml

DB:2.46:New Bindingregistry Spi And Embedded Wrapper Classes pc

So, for most cases, embedded HornetQ is as simple as doing:

    EmbeddedJMS jms = new EmbeddedJMS();

    jms.start();

    ConnectionFactory factory = jms.lookup("ConnectionFactory");

    Hi Folks,

Can anyone offer any reason behind why I intermittently see PATROL Integration app classes in my Portal drop from a health collecting state into a greyed out state and then back to green again? It seems pretty random... Im keen to understand why this happens (it's driving me mad). Parameter history looks constant / as roughly expected with the polling times etc.

Sounds like a bug, if it had failed to collect, then you would expect an

    Alarm from collecting state.

Maybe the connection is marginal, have you tried adjusting any timeouts?

DB:2.45:Aspectj Load Time Weaving Annotatednoclassdeffounderror z9

I am trying to use AspectJ load time weaving on an application running on OC4J 10.1 on JRE 1.5. I get AnnotatedNoClassDefFoundError with Missing class: org.aspectj.runtime.internal.AroundClosure message.

Here is what I am doing:
    1. Starting the server with JVM argument -javaagent:aspectjweaver.jar to enable AspectJ load time weaving.
    2. I put an AspectJ library MaintainJAspect.jar under j2ee\home\applib folder.
    3. I put the aspect defined in aop.xml at j2ee\home\applib\META-INF\aop.xml .

The aspect defined in aop.xml is properly weaved into the application class (I can see in the dumped source). But when the application is running, it fails with the message pasted below.

My question is, while it says that the missing class is available in oc4j classloader, which is parent of system and application class loaders, why is it not available to my application?

    Thanks in advance,

    DB:2.45:Understanding Jbcache 2.0/Hibernate Integration xc

I've taken a look at the integration being done with JBCache/Hibernate.A few things come to mind:1. Why is the integration so complex? There are 32 classes, whereas JBCache 1.4 and Hibernate integration was done with 2 classes. I'm thinking of "OptimisticTreeCache" and "TreeCacheProvider".2. What are the risks with changing the existing integration classes to use the new JBCache API? I have done so, and I don't see any problems, though I haven't attempted anything under load.Incidentally, is there a recommended eviction strategy (was there ever one?) to use with JBCache 2.0 and Hibernate. I did not see one with "hibernate-recommended-config.xml".

Even I am also not in favour of doing both things simultaneously. If you get into problems, it would be very difficult to debug. Instead, install 7.2 on the new server with same hostname as the first one, stop Networker Services and copy the C:\Program Files\Legato folder to the new machine. Why to spend so much time on bootstrap recovery?Personally, I would let this run for a couple fo days with same version on the new server and then only upgrade to the next release.

    HI ,

I have created Aspect module and Aspect Type in composer .

Also i have created few attributes in Aspect Type and configured to Aspect module.

But when i attach the aspect module to document am not able to see aspect attributes on the document .

Is that am missing anything during configuration .

    Regards

Do we know if a future version (and which future version) of Webtop will support this? It is basically useless until it is supported by Webtop out of the box. So many features that EMC is so proud to demo but have only implemented half way and so they are not very practical for real world applications.

I have real use-cases that can benefit this now, today. I'm building Documentum applications that could benefit from aspects so much it is hard to comprehend but yet I have to design without them today. The same is true for Smart Containers, does anyone have a roadmap or any kind of clue as to when I'll be able to use these advertised features in the real world. I thought maybe if I waited a little while they'd be rolled out over time but its starting to look like I'll be waiting for a very long time.

    DB:2.44:Lazy Loading Through Aop 78

I'm trying to work out a concept where an aspect is running around Getter properties in my data model to achieve lazy loading. For what it's worth this is my current aspect using PostSharp. It will be applied when my partial classes contain the [NotifyingAspect] attribute on top. This one is currently only working for EntityCollections.

    Code Snippet

    DB:2.44:Lazy Loading Through Aop 78

This isn't a bad approach, but you are likely to run into a few things:

    1. You are accessing private members through reflection and so will only be able to run in full trust security mode. You might be ok with this. Keep in mind that changing internal structure between releases is not a breaking change and so future versions of EF might not have this property internally.

    2. There are additional cases where you won't want to call Load(). Load() cannot be called when the entity state of the parent object is in the Added or Deleted state. In these cases, related end will still have a context reference, but you probably don't want to call Load. Also, if the ObjectContext is disposed, you won't want to call Load, although it is probably ok to allow the Load call and have the exception thrown as it will help you identifiy bugs in your code (i.e. you'd need to ensure the context is still around). Also, for references you won't want to lazy load when a value is already set.

    3. Consider cases like Add. You may not want to call your lazy load on your entity collection if you just do something like:

    c.Orders.Add(new Order(1));

Lazy loading is something we are taking a look at for the next release of EF, but this is an interessting application of AOP that will get you lazy loading until this functionality makes it into the released product.

DB:2.44:Switching Head To Booting With The Mc zf

I'm ready to switch the https://svn.jboss.org/repos/jbossas/trunk/ to the profileservice/mc based bootstrap. This will break all of the current deployers. Two things I would like to complete before doing this are fleshing out the VDF wiki page (http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBoss5DeploymentFramework), and getting the jmx integration and SARDeployer ported over. What is the status of the jmx integration code?

hello, i'm trying to use weld with very huge old web application (more than 4000 classes).
Problem is that at bootstrap time, weld starts consuming more and more memorytill I get the following message:
    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

Well, I've seen it in a draft but it's not in the spec yet so it's safest to rely on per-bean extension

You must be selecting default instance when installing SQL Server. As default instance may be already configured. Try to select another name on the screen when instance has to be selected. GO To : http://blog.sqlauthority.com/2008/06/12/sql-server-2008-step-by-step-installation-guide-with-images/ and see the 12th image where it suggest how to select instance. DB:2.43:Bootstrap Loader On Web Flex Application 7m

    Dear all,

I am working on a new portal using FlashBuilder 4.1. As this portal will have to load many sub applications, developped in several flex versions, and as some of these sub applications will have to communicate, i think that the best design pattern for this portal is to use a bootstrap loader. This bootstrap may contain the devices that would be required for internal communication.

The whole portal would run in the same Security Domain. Bootstrap loads a main application in a child application domain of it, and then the application will load all other applications using bootstrap's application domain:

    loaderContext.applicationDomain = new ApplicationDomain(bootstrapAppDomain);

I am currently not able to load several classes in my bootstrap (as ErrorMessage, ConfigMap, ... as described in online documentation on bootstraps): i encounter error 1065:

#1065: Variable mx.messaging.messages::ErrorMessage is not defined.

I know that this kind of question has allready been asked in this message, and i did add the option -static-rsls to my bootstrap project; however, i encounter a set of compile time errors that i cannot explain:

1172: Definition mx.core:ClassFactory could not be found.
1172: Definition mx.core:DeferredInstanceFromClass could not be found.

    Hi all,

I am running into a problem where there is conflicts in the class loading of javax.xml.* classes when running with JDK 1.4.2. (1.3.1 doesn't have this problem as those classes are not part of JDK before 1.4.2).

We have jaxp.jar in the path looked up by our application class loader, and we are seeing classes are loaded twice (once by App CL and once by bootstrap CL).

I saw somewhere that there is a flag that can be specified to prevent boostrap CL from loading certain classes, does anyone know the details?

    Thanks

    DB:2.43:New Remoting Integration Project x7

This topic is pulled from a tangential discussion on:http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopict=109907I'd noted before that we may move the following classes:
"ALRubinger" wrote:PojiProxyRemotingAOPRemotingInvocationHandler...from jboss-remoting-aspects into a new Remoting-esque project, where I'd also cited: "ALRubinger" wrote:Only thing we get by moving it out is an organizational benefit. This is incorrect, given https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBASPECT-3. The issue is that jboss-remoting-aspects holds these convenience classes which also create a dependency upon the Tx and Security aspects, violating the orthogonal nature of an aspect-based project. So the question remaining is, where to put the new project? http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/jbossas/projects/integration/trunk/ - Contains SPIs, so this doesn't seem like a great fit http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/jbossas/projects/remoting - Seems misleading, this is not the Remoting project itself, but rather some convenience mechanisms to using Remoting alongside jboss-aspects. DB:2.43:Deploying Problem Of A Jboss Aop Aspect In Jboss As 5.1 7f

    Hello,

I just wanted to test the deployment of a simple JBoss AOP aspect program to work with a simple Servlet in JBoss Server.

I downloaded "jboss-5.1.0.GA-jdk6.zip", and tested it on Ubuntu 10.10 and cygwin.

Here is what I did refereeing the tutorial, but I couldn't find any appropriate solution to solve the problem with which I faced in this forum.

    # vi $JBOSS_HOME/server/default/conf/bootstrap/aop.xml
    property name="enableLoadtimeWeaving"true/property

    # vi $JBOSS_HOME/bin/run.sh
    JAVA_OPTS="-Dprogram.name=$PROGNAME $JAVA_OPTS -javaagent:pluggable-instrumentor.jar"

    # cp $JBOSS_HOME/server/default/deployers/jboss-aop-jboss5.deployer/pluggable-instrumentor.jar .

    # jar cvf servlet-example.war -C servlet-example WEB-INF

    # jar cvf aspect.aop -C aspect com -C 2aspect META-INF

    # place aspect.aop and servlet-example.war in $JBOSS_HOME/server/default/deploy/

    OK.

@see https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBAS-6169I've changed the dependency between "main" and "bootstrap".Previously, "bootstrap" depended on a few classes in "main" - Server, ServerConfig, ServerConfigUtil, Version. The idea is that "main" is a standalone implementation of a launcher for AS, and all launchers will require a bootstrap.A side effect is that I had to put some classes from bootstrap into main's run.jar.Next steps are:* https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBAS-6170Update package names moved from "main" to "bootstrap"* https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBAS-6172org.jboss.system.server.Server should be JVM-agnostic* https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBAS-6171Remove "bootstrap" module from AS into its own Project* https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBAS-6173Change "file:/" protocol to "vfsfile:/" in System Properties used by ServerS,ALR
