    Hi SerenaJackson,

Welcome to Microsoft Community. We understand that you arehaving trouble locating the burn function in Photo Gallery that is running on Windows 8 operating system. This is because that the Windows DVD Maker which is the default burning application of Photo
Gallery and Movie Maker is no longer supported by Windows 8. You will need to download and install a third-party application to burn your photos and movies. You may search for any freeware burning application using your preferred search engines.

Should you need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

    Thank you.

DB:3.78:How Do You Stop All Windows Photo Gallery Photos From Going Out When Sending An Email With One Photo c9

It's actually an import setting in windows live photo gallery that is opening the wlpg program when you import from any device, cameras/ scanner...
    Open wl photo gallery,
Click the blue file button on the top left,
    Go to the options listing,
Import tab section and review these settings,
As to why it's giving full access to all of your files, you must be skipping the permissions part or not noticing it.
If you use outlook you might think about changing your default photo editor/ viewer to office picture manager so the issue doesn't return.
Go to default programs from the start menu,
Click associate a file type and protocol with a program,
Click on photo file types you have, jpg/ jpeg....and click on change, search for office picture manager and set as default, clicking on close will save the changes you've made.

How do I burn all of the pictures in photo gallery to disks. I have windows 7.If ittakes more than one disk, how do you make the transition. One reason I want to do this is so the pictures can be loaded into another windows 7 PC photo gallery. Is that
    a problem.

    DB:3.43:Photo Gallery Back-Up sm

    Hi Ken,
I wouldn't recommend burning the pictures to a disk, if all you want is to transfer them. If you have an external hard drive or USB flash memory stick, it would be faster to copy them on to one of those. Most of the pictures in Windows Live Photo Gallery
are usually stored in C:\Users\username\Pictures. To access them so you can burn them to a disc, or use one of the options I mentioned, click start menu, then click pictures. You can then press Ctrl + C to copy them, and then Ctrl + V to paste them into the
disk you desire. If you really want to use a disk to copy these, be sure to use a DVD, not a CD, as DVD's can hold approx 4GB of data, while CDs can hold only 700MB. If you need instructions on how to burn a DVD, let me know.
    Hope this helps!

    Hello,

Thank you for posting. I understand that you want to add your photos to your Photo Gallery. I would like to clarify if the library you stated was on your Windows Explorer. If so, you just have to include that folder in your Photo Gallery since Photo Gallery
does not store photos on it. You can follow the steps below how:

    1. In Photo Gallery, press ALT +
    F.
    2. Click Include folder.
    3. A pop-up window showing folders included. Click
    Add.
    4. Browse for the folder and click Include folder.

In case this is not your concern, feel free to post back.

    Regards,

DB:3.36:Windows Live Photo Gallery - Error Code 0x80070057 When Trying To Rotate Pictures cp

    Hi Apsy,

We see issues with photos taken in portrait mode on the iPhone 4 models that do not auto-rotate pictures when imported to a Windows 7 PC. This is the case when you physically import them via USB or when you explicitly set the Windows Live Photo Gallery import
tool to: Rotate photos during import.

If you are unable toedit pictures from iPhones, we suggest that you import all pictures taken from an iPhone to a windows PC and open the files using Windows Office Picture Manager, which is part of the Microsoft Office Suite. Other 3rd party tools will do
    as well.

Open the files and export (oruse the Save as option)the photos in a bulk process or individually depending what tool you are using.

    Thanks!

    Hi Trevor and RhondaStumpf,

    - Where is Windows Photo Gallery uploading the pictures to?

In general, Windows detects your newest pictures and doesn't import duplicate versions of older pictures that you've already copied to your computer.

If the pictures haven’t been previously imported, Windows Photo Gallery would automatically import all the pictures.

@ Michael F. - I don't think you are wholly correct in your answer. If the tagged files are burned to a CD
formatted as a data disc, then they will exist as files, complete with their metadata.

That CD can then be read on another PC, and if the files are opened in WLPG (or another application that understands image metadata), it will see the tags that have been embedded in the files...

Yes, Isorted the photos in order by date and thenrenamed the first photo. Windows renamed the rest of the photos, giving them all numbers. When I then burned the photos to the CD, they remained inorder. When I had searched earlier in Photo Gallery
to find out how to keep them in order, I didn't look for how to rename the files because I had no idea that renaming them had anything to do with sorting them.

You realize that both of these programs are only reading your my pictures location on your computer.
So really all you have to do is uninstall windows live essentials 2011, go to your control panel, click on programs and features, find wle 2011 and uninstall, after you do that change the way you receive windows updates, uncheck install recommended update
the same as important updates, then check for windows updates,
Windows live essentials 2011 will show up as a windows update, right click this update and select hide, otherwise the above program will keep being downloaded.
Now you can download what ever version you want,

DB:3.24:Compressing Pictures From Windows Photo Gallery To A Zip File. fp

    HELP!!!!

DB:3.24:Compressing Pictures From Windows Photo Gallery To A Zip File. fp

Hi re the advice below, I have a file in windows gallery that I would like to make into a zip file, but it does not give me the option - i.e. there is no option to send, and then compress into zip. How can I do it?

    Thanks

    Hi helpabrothaout,

Thank you for posting on the forums.

You won’t be able to compress for pictures from within Photo Gallery.
What you can do is compress your pictures folder into a zip file. Here’s an article on how to

Compress and uncompress files (zip files)

Compressed files take up less storage space and can be transferred to other computers more quickly than uncompressed files. You can work with
compressed files and folders in the same way that you work with uncompressed files and folders. You can also combine several files into a single compressed folder, making it easier to share a group of files, since you only need
to attach one folder to an e‑mail message instead of several files.
    Show allHide all

To compress a file or folder

    1.

Locate the file or folder that you want to compress.

    2.

Right-click the file or folder, point to Send To, and then click
    Compressed (zipped) Folder.
A new compressed folder is created. To rename it, right-click the folder, click
Rename, and then type the new name.

To extract files or folders from a compressed folder

    1.

Locate the compressed folder that you want to extract files or folders from.

    2.

    Do one of the following:

To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then,
drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location.

To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click
Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

    Notes
    · If you add encrypted files to a compressed folder, the files will be unencrypted when extracted, which might result in unintentional disclosure of personal or sensitive information.
For that reason, you should avoid compressing encrypted files.
    · Some types of files, like
JPEG pictures, are already highly compressed. If you compress several JPEG pictures into a folder, the total size of the folder will be about the same as the original collection of pictures because the JPEG file format is compressed
to begin with. If you want to make pictures smaller to send in e‑mail, see
Send pictures or videos in e‑mail.

    · If you have already created a compressed folder and you want to add a new file or folder to it, drag the files you want to add to the compressed folder.

Hope that helps, please post back and let us know.

    Hi Ronnie,

Since this issue still persisted after following the troubleshooting steps above, I suggest that you perform the steps below because this issue may occur whenaPhoto Gallery related file becamecorrupted. To further troubleshoot it, we will need to reinstall
    Essentialsin this way:

    1.) Perform Windows update
    a. Visit Windows Update
    b. Verify if the computer requires updates, and install updates if necessary
    c. Restart the computer after you install updates for the changes to replicate

2.) Uninstall Windows Live Essentials programs that are currently installed on your computer, please follow the stepsin this link:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/essentials-uninstall-ui

3.)Browse your computer to C:\Program Files then delete the Windows Live folder if available
    C:\Program Files\Windows Live
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows Live

Note: If there is more than one Program Files folder upon opening C drive, then double click on
    Program Files (x86) instead.

4.) Temporarily disable 3rd party firewall programs (i.e. McAfee, Norton, ZoneAlarm, etc.)

Note: Disabling the firewall may make your computer or your network vulnerable to attack by malicious users or by malicious software such as viruses. Please make sure that you do not have any other Internet Explorer window open
or any other programs running while trying to install Windows Live products. Once, you are able to install the Windows Live programs, please turn your firewall back on.
5.) Reset browser to factory settings:

    For Internet Explorer:
    a. Open Internet Explorer
    b. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options

DB:3.19:How Do I Export My Pictures From Windows Photo Gallery To My Iphone 1p

As Helene_C said "...Exporting photos in Photo Gallery to your iPhone is not available..."

But what you can try is You can select and publish the album from Photo Gallery to OneDrive using the 'Home' tab Share option which lists OneDrive too
So once it has been published to OneDrive, you can access OneDrive on iPhone or Android device using the One Drive app
    OneDrive for iPhone
    OneDrive (for Android devices)

As said you can provide the feedback if you want to provide any suggestions in the link given in Helene_C reply.

DB:3.19:Unable To Open Pictures In Photo Gallery - Windows Cannot Access The Specified Device, Path, Or File. You May Not Have The Appropriate Permission To Access The Item 8c

    original title: Photo Gallery

When I try to open a picture in my photo gallery, it says I don't have the permission, when it was working just earlier today. I have tried restarting my computer and also going in from the desktop and going through my pictures library there, but still no
change. It says "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item." When I try to open photo gallery on the start screen, it opens and then closes right back down. This happens the same
with my calendar app. What do I do now?

Wanting to add captions to pictures from Windows Photo Gallery before I burn them to a DVD.....is this possible??
    ===========================================
Windows Movie Maker can add captions (titles)to photos and create
a video slideshow that can be burned to DVD with Windows DVD Maker.
Also the free PhotoStory 3 would be a good choice for creating a
video slideshow with titles on each photo.
    PhotoStory 3 For Windows
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx
(runs on XP, Vista and Win7)
And/or you could use a program like Picasa to add text to the face
of the photos. In this case...use copies of the photos for editing
    because the text is permanent.

DB:3.18:Cant Select Multi Pics From Photo Gallery To Uploadburn af

I am having a problem with uploading pictures from Windows Photo Gallery to my e-mail. I use to be able to select several pictures at one time and upload them together. Now it seems I must upload each picture individually instead of being able to do
them all at once. It seems it also has affected my being to burn pictures onto a CD. Are you aware of a recent change with the photo gallery and is there a way to adjust the settings so that I can select multiple pics at one time and upload them all together?
I have searched through the settings and cannot find the answer. Thanks.

DB:3.18:Unable To Delete Pictures From Windows Photo Gallery 8p

Recently Windows Photo Gallery is saving every picture I used to be able to cut and move, and when I attempt to move pictures to recycle can, they reappear in the Gallery.I've always kept a tidy Photo Gallery, and now, overnight I now have 2800 pictures
in it. Why is this happening and what can I do about it. I have an online business and take a lot of pictures, so I need to get them out of Photo Gallery. Thanks

DB:3.18:Unable To Delete Pictures From Windows Photo Gallery 8p

Thanks. I'll start with the File Check and if that doesn't do it, will do a restore, as the problem is only a few days old. Appreciate the help.

    DB:3.18:Photo Gallery Question 3j

How do I recover certain photos from the photo gallery on a sandisk and put them into another folder?
    ================================================
Not sure I understand the question...
Are you saying you want to copy photos from Windows Live Photo Gallery
to a Sandisk Memory Card and then back to a different folder in Windows
    Live Photo Gallery?
Why not just copy/paste or drag/drop the photos into the destination folder?
