    Hi all!

    I have HP´s laptop (NX6125 T64 1.8G) with 1,5 Gt RAM, 5400 rnd hard disk and Audigy 2 NX as a soundcard.

I´ve tried to record with Cubase and Nuendo but sound cracks and pops and there is some latency plus sometimes program stops recording and says ASIO went out of sync.

I have hard time to believe that my computer is too slow, ´coz I have recorded like 20 channels (with Nuendo) with my crappy old computer which has Audigy 1 as a soundcard. So is the problem NX? Is USB fast enough for multi-track -recording?

I´m a newb so forgive me my stupid questions. Plz help me. Thx!

    DB:3.35:Audigy 2 Nx -Problem..Help, Plz! c7

    The ASIO drivers at:
    http://www.usb-audio.com/

work ok, but they break the Creative non-ASIO audio drivers so no other Windows audio apps can use the sound card, even Creative software.

    An alternati've is:

    http://www.asio4all.com/

Which works with the Audigy 2 NX at 48kHz, and this driver does not interfere with the Creative drivers (e.g. you can even play music from a Windows app and run an ASIO application simultaneously).

I am just reposting my response to a similar question because I never found a solution to this problem just a work-around. I would love to know the actual solution.

    ---------
I have encountered this issue as well. I never solved the issue but did find a work-around. Unfortunately, this temporary solution may not work for more 'heavy' users then I. Although, many have commented that this issue happens even on small projects (as it did with me also), many usually create much bigger projects and are using the smaller projects just as a litmus test. I qualify this because the work-around I discovered is using USB 2.0 to connect my external HDD rather than either of the firewire ports on the drive. So, for those wanting to create larger projects, this solution may not be an option. I won't delve into the details here, but I will include a link to my thread so you can see all the troubleshooting I did and the suggestions that were offered.

    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2102925tstart=0

Or, you can search the forums for error 10010.

The only other items of note I can think to add at this point is I am still on 10.5.8 not SL. Logic 9.1.1, and I recently increased the amount of RAM to 4G. The work-around has been working for me, and I haven't had time to check that any of these updates fixed the problem. But I will soon and will report any changes.

I hope this provides some insight.

And the size of a record is 72byte. the number of records is 1000.

It is no effect that he changed the size of cache. And he found when

That means the returns from DB-put() were slow per 16KB.
I'd like to know the reason why the write-operation is sometimes slow.
So far I perceived when the cache was over flowed or DB-sync() was called,

    Hi there;

I tried to use Garageband on my Macbook Pro to record a live show this weekend and failed magnificently. Running a 1/4" from the main outs on a Mackie mixing board, into my audio interface (Motu Ultralite), where I got a great signal, I then armed a "no effects" track, selected the corresponding input source and voila!

It worked at first, recording a chunk of the opening act. But then, when I tried again for the headliner, the wave form which seemed perfect in the recording process, disappeared as soon as I stopped the recording.

I should say I encountered a number of errors between takes, that the disk was running too slow. This surprised me, considering my beloved machine is a monster with a 2.8 GHz processor and 4GB memory.

Do you think it's a bug or is GB not equipped to handle a live signal?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

    DB:2.64:Disappearing Wave Form 83

    Christoph Drsser wrote:
I would never use GB to make a critical recording

^^ That is an amazing statement.

Its true that GB is buggy. Sometimes it doesn't do what it is supposed to do. I have lost the odd recording in a similar way as the OP described. Its a shame that the developers do not stay on top of such a great little program... after all, it should "Just Work."

I would be surprised that recording to a 5400rpm system hard drive was the issue. Bench marking tools on other systems have highlighted the fact that average read write speeds to external 7200rpm drives using FW400 are slower than to 5200rpm internal system drives because of the interface connection and bus speeds. I would love to see info to the contrary though.

Because I have lost material in the past when recording audio I have learned to always 'test' the current GB project by making two 'junk' recordings. This is simply a few seconds of recording whatever. Make one, stop, then make another on the same track from where you left off. If the first snippit disappears then discard, quite GB, open another project and test again. This has ALWAYS worked for me.

Hi everyone, I've got this problem that I found out is not new.
What frustrates me is that I didn't have this problem on GB '09.

I didn't record for a while in my MBP since I had the previous iLife version, but few days ago I needed to record a children chorus, and I thought that I could use my Edirol FA-66 with my awesome MBP.
I was testing at home before the performance, and for some reason all my recording on GB stopped at about 45 seconds... with the message "disk it too slow (error 10005)".

At the first time I thought that I could have made something wrong, I looked for a solution on this forum and in other sites, but there's not a real solution, except for the "File Vault" thing that couldn't help me 'cause it's not turned on in my mac.

In the end I recorded the performance... using Audacity... That I must say worked perfectly.

The point is that I had to use GB, and I need it to record also my own songs and stuff...

I really hope that someone can help me solving this.

I repeat shortly what I use and what I need:
I have a MBP with i7, 8Gb ram, hard dist at 7200 rpm, and I was recording music through an edirol fa-66 pluged on firewire, GB says disk is too slow.
Even tho I closed every application the problem is still here.

    Thanks for your attention,
    Regards,
    Maurizio

I have this problem intermittently recording with Garageband (2007 MacBook Pro 17, OSX 10.Lion) and after searching the web reading various threads, I believe this happens without regard to your computer configuration. With me, thankfully, it's kind of a random but disconcerting occurence. There must be a reason for it, but I don't think it's an obvious one that can necessarily be remedied by an upgrade to your computer hardware.I hope that an Apple rep who browses this stuff will notice this and make some suggestions! If anyone knows how to get the attention of those folks, please do. thanks.

    Hi, everyone

I am having a problem with slow data recording.

After I initialize all the instruments, I noticed that the while loop ran much slower that it should be(numeric indicator of iteration

The speed for recording data is roughly 0.2s/datapoint which is too slow for me. The preferable speed would be 0.002s/datapoint or even faster. I am using PCI 6224 DAQ Card(16-Bit, 250 kS/s, 32 Analog Inputs). I am also record data from the nanometer which employed the GPIB read and write function. I would not think it will slow the loop significantly.

I am not sure why this happens, could someone have a look at my program and help me out?

    Thank you.

    DB:2.55:Record Data Too Slow 9z

    Hi SunHarvard,

The amount of code that can be executed in a given unit of time depends on a number of factors including the speed of your processor. If you have too much code in your while loop, the rate of the iterations will be dependent on the amount of time taken by your processor to execute all the code within the while loop.

The reason your while loop is iterating solwly is because you are configuring your instrumentation, reading data and processing the data all in your while loop.

A good approach to your application would be to consider a multi-loop design pattern like the producer consumer design pattern which can be found here:

    http://www.ni.com/white-paper/3023/en/

In your producer loop, you can have different states to initialise, configure, read and shut down your instrumentation. You can use a queue to pass data to your consumer loop and then process the data in the consumer loop. Thiswill give you much faster rates of data acquisiotion.

    Thanks and Regards,

As I said above - check the cabling to be sure there is not a loose connection or a bad cable.
Then check the hard drive using the Manufacturer's Diagnostic Utilities which will use their
own methods to try to boot to the drive.

If the cables are good yet those tools will not boot the drive or some related hardware has

I will try to put the Mini on it's own circuit tonight when I get home.
I can also say that my old CRT monitor is one the way out(leaky screen).
Wonder if that has anything to do with it?

I'm recording one mono audio track to a dedicated audio drive inside my Mac Pro.

Or rather I would be if Logic wasn't interrupting my recording with a "disk too slow 10004" message.

When it's not doing that it's locking up with the flashing screen error no matter what key I press.

And just for good measure it slings the dreaded burst of noise at me from time to time.

It's like paying for a slapper to beat me up.

All flashing when I try. Logic is there but I'm almost completely locked out of it.

DB:2.49:Built In Click Or Clicktrack? Stability? "Disk Too Slow" ss

I've had a lot of issues with "disk too slow" messages while tracking through Amplitube or Waves SSL. And when I got these messages I've used the built in click/metronome (klopfgeist).

But then I started using an audio clicktrack by bouncing out klopfgeist to a seperate audio track and then using that in the project. Thus NOT using the built in click. And since then I haven't got any "disk too slow" messages.

I'm wondering if anyone else have experienced this, and if others could try this. I have now been running for half a day with several Amplitube tracks and NO "disk to slow" messages what so ever (know on wood).

DB:2.49:Built In Click Or Clicktrack? Stability? "Disk Too Slow" ss

There could be something wrong with Klopfgeist here. I hardly ever use it though, and imho the "disk too slow" error makes no sense, since Klopfgeist is not reading anything from disk, it ain't a sampler! "Disk too slow" is always related to (the inability to) reading audio files, be it samples or recordings or Apple loops. So I somehow am sceptical about Klopfgeist being to blame, however, if you can reproduce the error consistently and only with Klopfgeist, I'ld have to review my scepsis...

Hi can someone pleeeeaasse help me quick!!! I have just spend loadsa dosh buying a midi keyboard, mic and a fast track audio device for my powerbook! I have 34gb free on the hard drive, 256mb of memory, and a 1.33ghz powerPC G4 processor. The operating system is mac OS X 10.3.9! However, when i try to record guitar (and this is the first track in so who knows when i'm on the 10th what would happen) it just says 'disk too slow' about a minute to a minute and a half into the recording! I've read the solutions saying buying a external hard-drive is the way to go - but i can't afford to buy one if it won't help. Basically I want to be able to record quite a few tracks comfortably can you tell me what i need to buy (ie firewire harddrive) or what i need to do (ie install garage bands 2) to increase my performance and stop these problems. Thanks!!!!

DB:2.47:Disk Too Slow On A Powerbook G4! aj

It is possible that your problem may be due to the encryption feature that you have turned on. Disable the encryption by going to System Preferences, then click on the Security icon, then it will take you to FileVault, where you can turn off the encryption.

Hope this helps. Let me know if it does.

DB:2.47:Weird Hd Meter Jumping... "Disk Too Slow" Error... ? 7x

I'm just trying to record 2 tracks of live audio, but the HD meter in the Transport Bar keeps "jumping" every few seconds or so. And I had it quit last night due to a "Disk too slow" error.

I have a fairly beefy computer, and a lot of room on my HD. However, today I moved my entire Logic folder to a 1TB internal drive where it's the ONLY files on that drive (to try and increase the scratch disk space). But I'm still getting that weird meter behavior.

I've tried changing the I/O buffer size, but that doesn't seem to help either.

I've worked on projects where I've had dozens of tracks running at the same time, while recording, and while running several plugins.

I recently re-installed my system (don't ask), so I'm wondering if there's just some simple setting that's different. Or I need to tweak.

    Thanks in advance!

If you like the convenience of keeping headphones attached, why aren't you keeping them attached to the Edirol?

Since you can easily route all iTunes, video, etc. audio to the interface, that works out to exactly the same, and you have better quality, to boot!

DB:2.46:What Am I Receiving A Message, "Disk Is Too Slow (Record) (-10005)." kj

I get that message and the others mentioned by Lonie sporadically, and my projects are all quite small in terms of tracks. I have no clue what causes it. Locking all tracks I'm not in the process of editing seems to help, as does disabling CPU-intensive fx like Ambience until I'm ready to mix down. If there's too much hitting the CPU then data can start swapping out to the disk. Look too at Activity Monitor and see if there are processes like security scans using your disk. When I first got Clam AV it would launch a scan and GB would go loopy. I figured out how to schedule the scans and stop them if I'm working on something I need the disk and CPU for.

    Hello Travoy,

Hello I understand you have questions about restoring the computer and the 86 bit components that you see, is that correct? I will be more than happy to assist you.

Regarding the factory restore it depends on how you do it, if you use the built in partition you will not need any disk for the process. If there is an issue with partition then you would need to order a set of disk from HP.

The 86 bit components are normally the default folder for your program files that should not cause the computer to run slow. Here is alinkthat might assist you with increasing the system performance without possibly having to restore the system.

Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

I use a newly purchased macpro running OSX 10.4.10. with logic pro 7.2.3 . I installed the Tascam fwaudiodowngrade patch (AppleFWAudio-2.0.1fc1-e8.pkg). When recording 1 channel of 96K 24 bit using the tascam 1884, quite frequently, Logic complains of "disk too slow error -10004" which is often accompanied with a very loud burst of white noise through my monitors, and the recording halts.

Also, one time when i switched on the 1884 after waking my macpro from sleep, the macpro froze and crashed. I was forced to restart the computer.

Previously I was using the macbook pro running OSX 10.4.9. I did not experience any problems at all under this system. All software and settings are identical between systems other than the Macpro uses OS version 10.4.10 with the Tascam FW audio downgrade patch.

Please advise on what measures i should take to rectify these problems.
    - I have switched off OS energy saver options
    - i reinstalled 1884 drivers
    - Within logic, I reset defaults for 1884 control surface
    - Within logic. I switched off larger disk buffer core audio option
    - Within logiuc, i set audio io buffer to 1024

There are a couple of other threads on this topic, but not using the 1884 with the tascam FW audio downgrade patch so i thought it would be best to start another thread.

DB:2.41:"Disk Too Slow" Error Message ff

"Disk too slow" means just that.

    The G4's have a 7200 rpm drive.

This is really a generic message that pops up whenever GB is taxed beyond its limit. Locking tracks or optimizing GB as listed in the article will solve the issue.

Until recently buying my external drive all recording was done on my internal hardrive. I had few problems with performance, especially since GB 2 came out. My biggest problem was running out of space as some of my longer projects were a gigabyte in size.

Playing back busy mixes with many pluings work better without the Larger Disk Buffer On and the I/O Buffer Size High (1024)

When recording audio, getting to about 2.20 I get the above message (-10004), this interrupts the recording.

    My Audio driver preferences are:

    Driver: FA-66 (0511)

    hi

i've been working on logic express fine for a few months and now suddenly while working a new song the disk i/o is maxing out ridiculously and i'm getting disk too slow error and not being able to play or record or anything. i've hardly got any trax or plugins running, and the intensive stuff is frozen. any ideas?

i've just added a 250gb external hard drive (usb) where all the audio files are being stored, but it's been running ok for the past two weeks with this set-up, and now it's just seemingly gone weird. i've run maintenance scripts and defragged the disk etc, but no avail. any help appreciated.

god sorry for all these additions, i'm a useless forum poster. ok so i froze every track and i'm still getting the error, so something is wrong that minimizing the cpu load isnt fixing. i've played around the buffer size and all the other stuff that's bene posted on this forum but to no avail. anyone know what i can do? this is a new problem that's come out of the blue, usually my g4 can handle some serious workload.

I'm running Mavericks 10.9.1 on my MacBook Pro Retina with 16Gb of DDR3 (1600) RAM and 758Gb flash-drive and the i7 processor running at 2.8 Ghz. There is 631Gb of free space on my SSD disk. GarageBand 6.0.5 keeps stopping during recording and telling me that my disk is too slow to record. I don't get it. This is the fastest MacBook I could buy only 2 months ago and already it's too slow to run one app all by itself. I tried turning off WiFi just in case some app was accessing the internet in the background without my knowledge. No change. No other apps are open or running. Went through the dock, one app at a time, making sure nothing else is running. My external drive is not connected so there's no automated backup in progress. Interface is the Saphire Focusrite 24Pro using Firewire 400. The interface runs flawlessly with any other apps and does playback from GarageBand without a hiccup, playing files much longer and with many more tracks than the one I am currently working on. This just started today. Never had an issue before now. Any ideas?

I keep getting this error in GarageBand while recording a single real instrument track after a few seconds.

I have a MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz with 1.5GB RAM. This was all working fine with 10.4. I could record TONS of tracks. 2 simultaneously with 7-8 other tracks playing back. No problem. Now I can't record a single track with 1 playing back in Leopard. I have all the latest updates. This happens with my Lambda USB device or using the built-in input.

Time Machine isn't running. I turned off networking completely. I rebooted the machine. I started a new GarageBand file. I would just chalk it up to my drive being too slow and get an external drive, but this used to work just fine until I went an upgraded.

    Any ideas?

DB:2.36:Coreaudio: Disk Is Too Slow f3

I looked at the Activity Monitor and didn't see anything using up resources. I saw disk writes peak out, but nothing to suggest why. I recorded track after track in the same project and finally after the 4th track, it started recording as long as I wanted without a problem. I'm going to chalk it up to disk fragmentation in that particular area.

    Hey guys;

I had an issue yesterday with my Profire 2626 and Macbook (black macbook last gen. 4 gb ram, 10.5.8)

I was recording 7 tracks of drums, and while it recorded 20-30 seconds fine - it would freeze with the error msg "disk too slow to record" over and over again.

I am aware that it would help running the project through a firewire external hd. The problem is I only have one firewire slot on my Macbook. There are 2 firewire slots on the Profire 2626. What is the procedure (if any) on running my Profire 2626 to my Macbook, and the Firewire external hd (with only 1 firewire slot on my macbook) ?

Also - I do have a USB (WD external hd) - Would it be possible to run that for recording the session? Or is that too slow as well, for running 8 tracks at one time?

Sorry for the long long questions. I just need to figure this out asap.

    thanks for your time. -av

    DB:2.36:Disk Too Slow/Firewire/Profire 2626 Question j7

I don't know this interface, but most firewire interfaces have thru ports, and thus act as a firewire hub of sorts, which it sounds like yours does. So you simply plug your FW drive into that through port.

    Done.

As to whether you'll have enough bandwidth on your FW bus to do what you need, is another question. It may be that a better solution is to replace your internal with as fast a replacement drive as you can find.

USB is getting better, but is generally not as robust as FW. I would try the FW first if you have a drive already.

The other issues you listed are valid and can cause problems, but rarely so abruptly. 57GB is plenty of space unless it's really seriously fragmented.

If he's done a lot of recording, deleting, and editing to the system drive, believe me, it is seriously fragmented.

I use iDefarg which gives a clear visual map of the drive. OSX does keep system files and data files under 20Megs fairly well in order, larger files will be left scattered all over the drive.

I guess the question to be asked is... was the OP recording successfully with Snow Leopard all along or did these problems start with a Snow Leopard upgrade?

Playing the song that comes with Logic, "The Numbers Game", I got the following error: " Disk is too slow or System Overload. I tried to record in both Logic and Garageband - same error. The computer seems too slow to be a "high-end" computer. I talked with the previous seller, and he also had the same experience with the general performance. What should I do? (I still have the warranty, that should last me for 8 months more.)Peter

When I use my TV@nywhere card to watch TV, there is occasionally slight flicker that looks like a randomly placed horizontal lines or a bar where the video is messed up. Normally it is very faint and hard to notice. If I wildly wave the mouse around or do other things, it is much more pronounced. When I use scheduled recording to get TVR to record something, it gets much worse. Does anybody know a good way to avoid this problem?

I dont actually know whats causing it, but Im assuming based on the behavior I see that anything that too much use of processing power is the problem. (Obviously Im making sure nothing else is running, but thats not enough. Havent tried disabling all windows services yet. Could be my machine is just too slow and Im out of luck too.) However, since it works reasonably well until recording starts, it seems like the recording process itself is the problem. I was hoping somebody might have found a way around this; perhaps some recording mode that causes far less interference, or some way to record in the background that is faster, or maybe even something like writing to a different disk, or maybe a way to automatically disable the on-screen display since I dont actually need to watch it watch it if Im recording it while Im gone, or even something like recording to a different partition or something less obvious. Suggestions?

Another laptop with slower processor has better response than my system.

What can I do to speed up the hard disk response.

DB:2.35:Hard Drive Response Too Slow jc

How long since you have Degragmented the drive? It is possible if you haven't done this in a while that you have a lot of fragmented files on your hard drive which results in longer loading times as it tries to access files scattered all over the place.

To do this, Right click on your C: (or whatever your main hard drive/ partition is designated)in My Computer, and select Properties. From here go to the Tools tab at the top, now press the button under Defragmentation...... from here simply defragment the drive (Depending on the size of your hard drive, the amount of files and the amount of fragmentation, the time will vary, but it can take a while so be patient). If it was really fragmented you may have to defragment more than once.

Hopefully after doing this, you will notice a performance increase.

Also, I would suggest uninstalling and deleting unnecessary/ unused programs, especially if they are ones that run in the background using system resources. (ie: such as multiple antivirus scanners, etc). This may in turn also yield a performance gain.

You said: "Another laptop with slower processor has better response than my system."

Well, reponse time has more to it than just processor speed, and you said you are having problems with HDD speed (as I have attempted to address above). This other laptop may simply have a faster hard drive rotational speed or cache. (eg: yours might be at 4200rpm and the other at 5400 or 7200rpm).

Anyway, try these things and see if that helps at all, and post back here if need be.

BMC Remedy ITSM 8.0, no patches (upgrade scheduled for 8.1 by year end)

We are finding 10004 errors on some RBE:Transaction records. After some logging, we isolated the error to when it creates the zip file for the attachments associated with the email. When the original email is in Rich text format, the email engine saves all embedded graphics, such as signature graphics, with the same file name (1.jpg). This causes the zip process used by RBE to fail, generating a 10004 error on the RBE:transaction record. Also to note, when a RBE:Transaction fails, it does not report the failure back to the RBE:Message record, RBE:Message still reports completion.

So, how can we get the email engine to assign different file names to graphics like it does for HTML formatted emails? As a stop-gap solution, we are implementing a filter that identifies the 10004 error on Modify of the RBE:Transaction and notifies the sender to resend their request in either HTML format or withour embedded graphics.

We were also seeing some 380 errors (No Item matches filter conditions) and determined that they were being caused by the Service Desk using the Email feature from the Incident form, and then not saving that particular ticket (thus sending an invalid ticket ID as the subjet line). To correct that we disabled the email function when Incident is in CREATE mode.

    DB:2.35:Recording Difficulty In Logic m8

    Hi.

I tried to record a live set of music. 16 chns. Sets of 40 minutes, but overall about 5 hours of material. Lots of info. I have a Mackie 1640 w/firewire running under 10.4.6. I kept getting "Disk too slow" errors. The recording just stopped. Even if I decreased my tracks down to 10, and stopped doing 24bit recording, the error was still prevalent.

I would think a 7800-rpm disk on a 400 firewire bus would be more than adequate bandwidth for my needs. Even IF the drive was fragmented and pretty full. I mean it's not that heavy of a data write burden. Or is it? Maybe cluttered disks drop off in performance exponentially as they fill up? 176 kB/s x10 is 17.6MB/sec, right? Would that be too much? A 400 7800 rpm HD usually can sustain data rates around 50/MB sec... but maybe the write speeds don't match that?

What would you recommend as a fix?

Should I get off the firewire bus for recording, just leave the firewire for the Mackie? Maybe try the "fastest" USB drive I can get? What about SATA on a MacBookPro. Any users making that work for 16-track and higher live recordings? Does it work well for you?

Also, anybody else messing with this Mackie mixer? Having any luck?

Is Logic just not the best tool for robust live recording? Should I consider another app? I guess I don't trust that "disk too slow" error. I'm wondering if it's some kind of software/hardware glitch. Like I said, I mean, 10 tracks of recording audio? I may be wrongheaded about this, but that shouldn't be a problem...

    Should it?

    DB:2.35:Recording Difficulty In Logic m8

Thanks for the advice. At this point I'm seriously eyeballing my Mackie 1640 and firewire interface hardware with a suspicious sideways gaze.

I mean, the thing isn't even recording 10 tracks without the "Too Slow" error... And that's with a set-up directly recommended by the techs at Mackie, so I'm skeptical that my gear actually works. And then other times it works fine for long stretches. Hmm.

Next step is to try this thing on a different Mac, different app, and see what goes down.

I now have a eSATA drive that's empty. If I get any hassles from this point I'll think the "Disk Too Slow" message from Logic is false and the blame goes even more squarely on Mackie.

We never had a problem before, even when recording 24 tracks simultaneously with various plugins in use, but now, even recording 1 track is causing intermittent problems with the same settings.
We have followed all tips on forums and have determined that by changing the I/O buffer size to 64 (from 32), and/or disabling enable software monitoring option seems to resolve the issue. Both have implications though, causing either latency delay in headphones, or inability to use numerous live monitor mixes.

My query here is, we currently have a 2.8Ghz Quad Cord mac pro with 8GB ram, and will increasing the Ram (up to 16GB) make any difference to stop the record error, or is just down to the processors themselves?

I'm also presuming that Logic 9 requires more processing power than 8 and im not the only one having such problems?

    Many Thanks

    Dear All:
Under win8 store app how to capture game live video into a video file? I use the sink writer but sink writer is too slow to record a smooth video! So does there has a method to make me record the game smooth like to record
    content from camera?
    Thanks

DB:2.35:How To Capture The Game Live Video Into A Video File Under Store App? ja

    Hello,
You can try using the low latency codec options. This might help a bit but keep in mind thatscreen capture takes a lot of resources since each frame has to pass the bussan average offour times. This could theoretically be reduced if you
did not want to record front buffer data and had direct access to the Game's back buffer. You could theoretically convert the back buffer to a texture (on the card) and pass this texture directly to the encoding subsystem (on the card). You could then pull
the encoded frame across the bus and save it to a file. This would reduce the number of times the frame passed over the bus. That said, the limited access to DXVA HD from the context of a Windows Store app may make this possible solution difficult to implement
if at all possible. I honestly don't know if the necessary APIs exist to allow this but it is theoretically possible.
    I hope this helps,

    Hi All,

I have an 18 gb partition that I need to increase. It seems to me the simplest way is to attach a larger new disk, then use ghost to do a disk to disk clone.

However, when I do this, the speed is very low...about 150 or so. On other physical machines I've done, I routinely get 2000+. I dont expect that, but 150 is very slow.

Coincidentally, this is what I get when doing ip to ip clones too.

    Any thoughts would be great.

    Hi ,

I have an HP laptop recently brought with configuration of 8 Gb ram with i5 processor and 1 Tb hard disk. Having Windows 8 genuine os . but the system is too slow to operate.
    Getting too much frustrated.
Is there any way to streamline the performance of my machine.

DB:2.33:Windows 8 Too Slow- Applications Crash Meantime. sd

    Hi Renu,

Thank you so much for posting your query on this forum.

I understand how you feel when the computer is very slow especially when you are doing some very important work on it. I will try my best to assist you with this issue.

It would be great if you can answer these questions for a better understanding of this issue:

    1) When exactly do you feel that the computer is very slow? Is it while booting the computer or when you work on any particular application?
    2) Does the computer freezes or hangs at any point while working on it?
    3) Did you make any recent changes on the computer prior to this issue? If yes, what are they?
    4) Do you have any third party security program installed on the computer?
    5) Did you try any troubleshooting steps for this issue on the computer?

There are multiple reasons why the computer becomes slow. Some of them are: 1) Driver Conflicts and Incorrect or incompatible drivers, 2) Out-dated Operating System, 3) Installation of multiple security program, 4) Third party software conflicts, 5) Virus
infection, 6) Faulty or other Issues with the hard disk, etc.

Let us try the following troubleshooting methods and check if that resolves the issue.

Method 1: Run System Maintenance Troubleshooter

The “System Maintenance” Troubleshooter is an automated tool which checks for the common maintenance tasks on Windows such as cleaning up unused files and shortcuts, try using the System Maintenance troubleshooter to automatically
find and fix problems. Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter.

    a) Press “Windows Logo” + “W” keys from the keyboard.
    b) Type “Troubleshooting” in the search bar and press “Enter”.
    c) In the “Troubleshooting” window, click on “View All” on the left pane.
    d) Click on “System Maintenance”.
    e) Click on “Advanced” and then click on “Run as Administrator”.
    d) Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

Check the troubleshooting report and share the details with us. You may also try the suggestions given by the troubleshooter and check if that resolves the issue. If that doesn’t help, then try the next method.

Method 2: Check for any Pending Windows Updates

Search if any updates are available for the Operating System. If so, then install them and check if that helps.

    a) Press “Windows Logo” + “W” keys from the keyboard.
    b) Type “Updates” in the search bar and click on the icon “Windows Update” from the search result.
    c) On the “Windows Update” window, click on the link: “Check for updates” from the left pane of the window to receive a fresh list of updates.
    d) If the updates are available, then install all the updates listed there.
    e) Restart the computer and check if that resolves the issue.

If the issue persists, then try the next method.

Method 3: Improve performance by optimizing your hard drive

I would suggest you to refer to the article given below and try the steps to optimize the hard disk on the computer.

Improve performance by optimizing your drive

Hope the above methods are helpful. Please get back to us with the results. If the issue persists, we’ll be glad to assist you further.

Hi, I want to buy a mac with Logic pro to program midi, record vocals and guitars, edit and mix for demo's and preproduction. What 's the best mac for me? Imac, Macbook pro or Mac pro?I used to work with Logic pro7 in a Mac intel 10.4.11 but had a lot of "disk too slow" etc. messages so recording and mixing large sessions on it didn't go that well.I'd also like to know what's the best way to record vocals on Logic. I've always used Protools for that. Thanks in advance.Stef

DB:2.33:Best Mac To Run Logic Pro On? 78

Stefaan I guess you might have already bought a Mac but just in case, I wanted to warn you about something. We've been speed testing hard drives and we've noticed that there might be a problem now for people buying an iMac 21.5" or a Mac Mini for audio work. Both of those computers are fitted with a 5400RPM drive as standard, and you can change this for a Fusion drive when you order a new Mac. Although the Fusion drive is fantastic for improving boot up speed and also for copying files from an external source (both activities use the very quick SSD part of the Fusion drive) performance with large audio files is very poor. When you are playing audio files in Logic/Pro Tools/Cubase etc, they are most likely to be playing back from the spinning hard drive part of the Fusion. We're getting the same sort of performance as we get from a 5400RPM drive, which is not great. SO: If you want to buy a Fusion drive to speed boot up and general performance, please go ahead. But for audio you should definitely buy an external drive running at 7200 RPM. I recommend a Thunderbolt drive, or maybe a Firewire 800 drive connected using Apple's Thunderbolt to FW800 adapter. You can get even faster RAID and SSD drives if you really need to, but a 7200 RPM drive is pretty good. The standard hard drives in a Mini or 21.5 iMac now are really too slow for audio work. It's interesting that the 27" iMac is still available with 7200 RPM drive options. Apple clearly see this as a machine for running professional media apps.I agree with all the posts above which recommend lots of RAM. 8GB or 16GB is good.I hope that helps.

In fact the whole thing should be purge immediate, but overall performance

is good. I\'ll probably change that and purge soon.

But your problem is you\'re getting periods of Netware going into high

I have am running Logic 9.1.4 on a MacPro 2 X 2.8 Ghz (Intel) with 8GB of RAM running OS X 10.6.7. I recently updated to Logic 9.1.4 and was trying to record one track of vocals on a session on which I had previously worked on a few weeks earlier with no issues. But today I got this error over and over again: Disk is too slow or System Overload. Occasionally I would get the message below with the error, but not always: The Sudden Motion Sensor may have parked the hard drive head, or the disk performance is not sufficient to read or write all audio tracks, or the system was not able to process all data in time. I don't have a lap top and tried a few fixes found here (buffer size increase ,rebooting etc.). Again, I recorded several tracks of vocals on other days with absolutely no problems. But today couldn't record more than a few seconds at a time without getting this error. The only difference I can think of is that I updated to the latest version of Logic 9 (9.1.4) rather than whatever the previous Logic 9 version was. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

DB:2.33:Disk Is Too Slow Or System Overload Error With Logic 9.1.4 sm

Freezing audio tracks can actually degrade performance, as frozen tracks have a higher resolution audio (32 bit). It only may be useful if you have (many) CPU-heavy plugins inserted on it.Freezing is much more useful on Software Instrument tracks, as it bypasses the Instrument, freeing up CPU. On audio tracks it makes no or even a negative difference.

In June of last year I posted the same question but my thread was archived.

I now have upgraded my Mac Book Pro to 8Gb of RAM and I have a SSD hard drive. I still get the "disk too slow" from Logic Pro 9 every once in a while.

I use it in 64 bit mode, with 44.1Khz sampling rate for recordings and the cache is 256. After I did a repair on disk permissions using the disk utility, the disk too slow message went away for a while but it came back.

I record 16 tracks of real instruments at a time via a Mackie 1640i on firewire 400 cable. Maybe some Pros here can chime in on the buffer configuration settings, I have a feeling this is the problem. I should not be getting a "disk too slow" with an Intel SSD hard drive.

DB:2.33:Disk Too Slow - Repost ac

Try to raise the sample rate to 88,2 kHz and than back to 44,1.
With this method, I can even record 16 tracks to an external USB 2,5" disk.
If it does not work, there might be something wrong with your SSD.

However, I can open Logic Pro 9 and play, edit, etc... without any problems. Both are configured to the same preferences and settings: 24-Bit recording; 48Khz audio; 256 buffer size. I've only got 5 audio instrument tracks playing about 24 bars of midi notes. It stops like every 4 bars!!! ***???I opened an older project of mine in Logic Pro 9 that has about 20 audio instruments, plus 12 tracks of recorded vocals. My current project has no recorded vocals at all, so it can't simply be my hard drive. I know it's good practice to record to external drives, but I've been doing this for years, and can still record to the disk in my old 2006 Black MacBook that has a 5400rpm HD using LP 9 without a glitch!Any ideas? Is LP X just that much of a hog on resources that my paltry 4GB of ram isn't enough when it seems to be just fine for LP 9?Any answers that aren't redundant would be of help.
