thats the biggest S**t ever. i have a normal 19" lcd in my room and i need to buy a new tv to play this game? this one is like a year and half old!

sure there must be a way around this. if not it should at least specify on the box etc.. that u need a tv that does at least "X" output settings. i'm well ****** off at this tbh. was looking forward to playing this game and now i'm stuck with it until i get a new tv in my room..

    DB:2.98:Annoying Problem 8x

The game works perfectly in SD :-)

This game runs best in 720p so you must not put a resolution higher then ? x 720. I don't know the width, but I know your screen must be widescreen (16x9). You can't play it in 1024x720.What? I run in 1080p and it automatically reduces to 720p when the games started. Plays fine on an old (4:3) or Widescreen (16:9) tv.

Is it an lcd monitor or lcd tv you have?

The reviews have been kind to Alien Isolation, but one review in particular stood out and that's the one by Ryan McCaffrey from IGN. With the majority of review sites awarding the game above 8/10; how come IGN scored it a measly 5.9? Was Ryan's review blinded, by the fact he found the game too difficult to play; cos' after all according to him, he was made to play the game on hard mode; but he did have a choice to switch to an easier mode in the middle of the game, however he chose to carry on. He died more times than enough during his playthrough, he got lost quite a few times and to top it all off, he was made to run around like a headless chicken because the Alien mysteriously knew where he was hiding majority of the time. There's is no doubting that Ryan found the game annoying, but rather than ride it out, like most folk, he choose to vent his anger on why the game sucked, his review mirrored that of how a consumer would write reviews on day 1 playthrough with all the negative's and without the positives. With one clear message arising from his review... "DON'T DO THAT!!!" warning player's, never to play on hard mode.

His review can be seen below:

WARNING: His review might contain spoiler's

There are sections that are more of the Alien and others where the alien will not appear. However in the sections with the Alien, it's very dynamic. He may patrol, he may shoot up into a vent, the AI of it works well.

Many PS3 gamers are excited for Haze, the PS3 "exclusive" FPSfrom Free Radical. Since the launch of the playable demo, opinions havebeen mixed: some loved the instant-action multiplayer offerings, whileothers were underwhelmed by the core gameplay mechanics of the game. While these initial reviews aren't necessarily representative of thecritical mass, they do point towards a less-than-favorable outcome forthis anticipated game.

IGN (45/100) - "While their previous work was quite excellent, Haze isanything but, coming across as a middling, generic first-person shooterwith bland visuals, a weak plot and laughable characters."GamersHell (65/100) - "Haze is still sitting in the wake of Call of Duty 4,and falls into that category of being just another FPS. The game triesto include different content with Nectar abilities and rebel dynamics, but a confused story, lacking gameplay elements and technical bugs bogthe game down from being a stellar PS3 exclusive."The A.V. Club (C+) - "More narratively cohesive than the Halo trilogy, but less inventive and compelling than Resistance: Fall Of Man ... too bad it's paired with one of the more pedestrian FPS games to come along in recent years."
Seem's that this game could be down for "Most Dissappointing" this year, had so much promise but has faltered badly.

DB:2.83:Tekken Dark Resurrection Online Playtested By Ign dx

    Tekken Dark Resurrection Online Playtest
Going online with Namco's prized fighter.

Virtua Fighter 5 is going to feature online fights on the Xbox 360. Boo-hoo for PS3 fighting fans? Not if you get your kicks from Namco's take on the genre. Bandai Namco delivered an online version of Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection to the Japanese PlayStation Store this past week, well before VF5's online debut. We made the download to see how the classic series holds up over the 'net (and to make sure we're best prepared for when the VF versus Tekken flame wars heat up later this year).

Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection Online is an updated version of one of last year's big PS3 surprises, the PlayStation Network version of Dark Resurrection. The update adds a practice mode and an online battle mode to what was already a feature-filled downloadable game. For those who already have the original version, Bandai Namco is charging just 1,000 yen for the update; those who've waited until now for their high def Tekken can purchase the full title, online play and all, for 2,800 yen (and, if you don't care for online play, the offline version is still available at a cost of 2,000 yen).

The main attraction for the update is, of course, the online mode. Bandai Namco has put together a basic online combat mode that, while not as elaborate as the play space Tecmo put together for Dead or Alive 4 a couple of years back, gets the job done if all you want to do is face off in online matches.

Select the online play mode from the main menu, and you're given your choice of matchmaking options. Opti match lets you find tournament rooms that match your player level, as determined by your current rank. Quick match does a full search of all rooms, regardless of level. If you're a bit pickier, you can select a custom match, which lets you specify a particular level or search for rooms based off availability of voice chat. Finally, those who want to play exclusively with their friends can use the friend match option to send out a direct invite.

    The battle room

Select any of these matching options, and the game searches for an suitable room. We averaged just a few seconds before a list of available rooms appeared. Prior to entering a room, you're given information on number of players and signal strength.

If you feel like a true king of iron fist, you can make your own room. The game lets you set round count, round time, maximum number of players to allow into the room (up to 8), and toggle voice chat off or on. You can also set aside a few slots exclusively for your friends. As room master, you also have the ability to kick players out, which is always fun.

Once you get into a room, things are pretty bare bones. The interface lists all players in the room in order of upcoming fights, with the current champ placed at the top. Everyone takes turns facing off against the champ. When you're not fighting, you view a live feed of the current fight.

    Viewing a live match

Inside an actual online fight, the Tekken 6 fighting engine seems to hold up pretty well. Playing from Japan against other players in Japan, we didn't notice much in the way of lag, although all the rooms we selected were listed as being full signal strength. We did get the occasional network error. The game jumps back to the title screen once this happens, but thankfully getting back into online mode takes only a few seconds.

Namco has implemented a few systems for dealing with people who manage to lose their connections frequently when in the heat of battle. Online rankings are determined by points earned as you win battles, but only battles flagged as a "House Rank" match counts towards your total. Players who exit the battle early during these matches get a point penalty. Outside of the house rank option, the game lists the number of times a player has left a match due to a disconnect, so you can weed out the baddies on your own.

For those who face their defeats nobly, network rankings look like they could heat up. A ranking viewer is selectable from the main online menu. Rankings can be viewed by totals or by the current week's top performer. The game splits all rankings between Asia, America and Europe, although as the game is only available in Asia at the moment, the European and American rankings are currently empty.

The good and the bad of Dark Resurrection Online are apparent pretty quickly when you head into the game's online mode. The interface is pretty fast when going from the title screen all the way to a room, and the fighting engine holds up well. On the other hand, we're disappointed with the lack of options.

Still, as Namco's first attempt at Tekken online, and considering it costs just 10 bucks, Dark Resurrection Online is a great download for any fighting fan. At the very least, Namco's experience earned here should ensure a robust online mode for the home version of Tekken 6 next year.

Yes but in the full game its meant to drop dramatically in more built up areas with more action going on.

As i said the same thing was said in the first version, i noticed the drops but it didnt ruin the game.

DB:2.76:L.A. Noire: A Year Off And No Longer Ps3 Exclusive? 3m

Australia, September 19, 2008 - Tom Crago, the CEO of Tantalus and the president of the Game Developers' Association of Australia, yesterday gave an overview of the Australian game development industry at GC Asia 2008, and IGN was there to nab a few little tidbits on L.A. Noire, the Rockstar-published game being developed out of Team Bondi in Sydney. No one has heard anything on the title for some time, but Crago confirmed that "it's got - I'd suggest - another year or so to go". He also mentioned that it "could be the biggest budget videogame in development anywhere in the world. It would certainly... in terms of console titles, be in the top ten... LA Noire is a massive massive project."And last, but by no means least, he mentioned that the game is coming to PS3 and 360 - up until now the title has only been confirmed for PS3. We'll let you know as soon as we can get independent confirmation from either Team Bondi or Rockstar.Mr Crago also spoke of L.A. Noire's importance to the Australian development industry, saying that: "It's one that we hold huge hopes for. It has been said about Australia that we've not been that successful putting out a title that really has set the world on fire; a big budget title that's sold multiple million copies and that has really put us on the map as a hub for videogame development. There are plenty of people who are hoping that L.A. Noire will be that title."

I'll probably pick this up on Friday, need something to tear me away from Halo. Looking forward to playing Portal first then the two episodes. Originally I planned to play through Half Life 2 again but now it's here I don't think I can be arsed. Playing it the first time I remember it seemed soooo long, thought it would never end. Still, will be nice to have a better version of Half Life 2 should I ever decide to play through it again, sure I will at some point.

But Wii and the DS are another story.
    by Anoop Gantayat
    November 9, 2006
Yes, you read that right! We've got a story about something not happening!

In truth, something not happening is something that happens every day, and we don't, in general, report on such non occurrences. For instance, today, Sega didn't announce the Dreamcast 2 (from what we hear, that won't happen until January 15th). Turn to the Dreamcast channel, however, and you won't see a story about Sega having not announced its new platform.

But given that the PlayStation 3 launches only once in a... well, ever... we're making an exception to the general rule of not reporting about nothing, and reporting about nothing, and with pictures!

And so, we can report today that no one has started to line up for the PlayStation 3 in Japan. This is based on a tour we took today of Tokyo's biggest game shops. That's right, the Bics, the Yodobashis, the Tsutayas, the Sakurayas, the Don Quixotes. No matter where we looked, no one was lining up for the 11/11 launch.

    http://media.ign.com/ign/image/pixy.gifhttp://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/article/744/744967/people-not-lining-up-for-ps3-20061109005639048-...
This is a picture of people not lining up for the PS3.
It's also a picture of people not lining up for Dreamcast 2.
There's a reason. Many major retailers, including the Bics and the Yodobashis, are resorting to a lottery system for the PS3. A Bic Camera local to IGN Japan's headquarters in Shibuya's love hotel district will start handing out lottery tickets at 9:00 AM on Saturday. The drawing will be held at 11:00AM. Those who win will be able to select from a 60 Gig or 20 Gig model. The others... will probably be stoned to death.

    http://media.ign.com/ign/image/pixy.gifhttp://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/article/744/744967/people-not-lining-up-for-ps3-20061109005636814-...
    Bic Camera's lottery program.
Some stores are going with traditional line-up systems. Asking around (in Japanese no less!), IGN was able to learn that the Bic Camera in Yurakucho and the Yodobashi Camera in Shinjuku will start selling the PS3 at, respectively, 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM on Saturday morning on a first come, first serve basis.

Why the difference in opening times? The store reps wouldn't confirm this, but Sony Computer Entertainment boss Ken Kutaragi will apparently be making appearances at both locations. They're separated by about 30 minutes or so by train, so Kutaragi should have just enough time to hand off the first (also likely the last -- snap!) PS3 at one location before moving on to the other.

Reps at the Yurakucho Bic told us that we're allowed to line up whenever the first people begin lining up. We're not sure if this means that we're not allowed to be the first ones in line. If the rep was worried about Kutaragi not being able to greet us in English, there shouldn't be much of a problem, as the Sony chief speaks English good.

    http://media.ign.com/ign/image/pixy.gifhttp://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/article/744/744967/people-not-lining-up-for-ps3-20061109005915982-...
At least Sony has some slick retail displays!
Famitsu's online publication reports that some shops (the site wouldn't name names) were turning people away from lining up too early. Some punks apparently tried to line up on Wednesday night at one shop. The store refused them, citing worries about disturbances to the neighbors, and plans on doing the same to people who attempt to line up Thursday night. Friday night (the night IGN intends to camp out), however, is a whole different story.

So the number of people waiting in line for a videogame system in Tokyo is... zero, right? Nope! There were actually lots of people waiting in line today as we made the rounds around the city. Only they weren't waiting for a PlayStation 3.

All those people may be standing in front of a PS3 display, but they're actually waiting for a Wii. Mega media retailer Tsutaya started Wii pre-orders on Thursday morning at 10:00, following a quiet announcement a couple of days prior. IGN checked in at the Shibuya Tsutaya outlet at 10:30 and found a line of at least 200 people waiting to pre-order a unit.

Unlike the 2004 DS pre-order program, this was a no-money down transaction, but 200 people lined up for a pre-order is quite a feat. Tsutaya closed off the line at around 11:00, and even then the last few people didn't complete their transaction until past 1:00.

And all these people? When we saw this line at the Bic Camera in Yurakucho, we immediately assumed that we'd found the PS3 line we'd been so longing to see. But no, this was a line for, of all things, the DS Lite. Bic had taken shipment of the popular system, which is still, in general, sold out wherever you go, and people were lining up to get one. This scene was repeated at Bics throughout Tokyo.

There will presumably be something like it on Saturday for the PS3, at least at the few shops that aren't resorting to a lottery system.

The Japanese aren't like Americans, they don't camp in front of shops. Its on the 11th, they will probably line up then.

    Sounds like they are impressed.

Again, the Skate Lounge is very much like a custom skate park, except that you're able to use it to show off your in-game achievements as well. For example, you can put a TV (or even ginormous project screen) in the Lounge and run any video you've unlocked or recorded on it for others to see. Once you have a place to skate, you can then invite your friends into your Lounge and fire up a multiplayer game inside your home away from home.

Now, speaking of running footage in the Lounge, we also got to see a bit more of the video editor in action. For years now, Tony Hawk fans have begged for the chance to put their best lines to film, and Proving Ground will let you do just that. After starting the recorder, you can skate about for a minute or so and then save the clip to a file. Opening up the video editor, you can then load any of your saved clips and edit them together. This means that you can create a full "best of" video at a number of different spots into one giant clip rather than editing only a single piece of video.
The editor looks surprisingly powerful and appears to be very similar to the likes of Premiere or Final Cut Pro. You load up your clips into a timeline and can then clip sections to highlight the best parts. You can copy segments and run them back-to-back, allowing you to show the same grind multiple times in a row from different camera angles for effect. For each segment, you can specify playback speed (for either fast-forward or slow-motion effects), camera types (like a fish-eye lens), color filters and more. There's a lot that you can do with the editor, and we expect gamers to spend hours perfecting their own highlight reel.

The game feels very refined at this point, and considering that it's built off of the tech we saw in Tony Hawk's Project 8 that was certainly not unexpected. We're looking forward to see everything that Neversoft has in store for the ninth game in the series, which ships to stores this October.

IGN recently had the opportunity to attend a press event held by Brash Entertainment. One of the items on display was a teaser trailer for an as-of-yet unnamed project which is internally being referred to as "2010" -- the year of its intended release. While we know extremely little about this title at the moment, we do know that it will be based on an upcoming film and is being developed by a "name brand Japanese studio." The only other information offered was in the form of the aforementioned teaser trailer

IGN First Hands-on with Go! Sports Ski

    http://ps3.ign.com/articles/821/821042p1.html
    by Nate Ahearn
September 19, 2007 - Who knew that a skiing game could be so perfectly suited to a SIXAXIS control scheme? While our play test with Go Sports Ski was short, we still came away feeling like we had seen most of what the game had to offer. Though that might seem like a knock against the title, the enjoyment level was still high and could warrant a purchase once the game surfaces on the Playstation Network, but that will most certainly depend on the final price point it receives.

As the countdown hits zero signaling you that it's time to go streaking down the mountain the first of many actions will need to be made on the PS3 controller. To get your skier going down the mountain you'll need to jerk downward on the SIXAXIS, the on-screen representation of this is your skier jumping, thus landing on the downward slope and beginning your death defying journey down the white abyss. Unsurprisingly the bulk of controller movements from here on out are jerks to the left and to the right.

We were happy to see that the controls were actually quite sensitive when it came to making pinpoint turns. Your actions weren't simply turning left and right, but instead there were various degrees which corresponded to the severity of your tilts. It's even possible to turn the controller towards your body as you make your turn to tilt the blades of your skis slightly upward so as to slow your speeds to allow for sharper turns.

Sounded like the perfect Sixaxis execution .

And now they've reviewed it. ::

    http://ps3.ign.com/articles/825/825112p1.html
    Reviewed by Chris Roper

Let's begin with the control issues. Aside from menu navigation, the game uses the Sixaxis motion controls exclusively. Movement, jumping, tricks and everything else are performed by tilting the controller, and there's no way to change this. While turning works decently, to an extent at least (it can be hard to make extreme cuts in the snow), things like tricks and even just using your poles to push yourself can be frustrating, unresponsive and aggravating. To push with your poles, you need to twist the controller left and right. This sounds simple enough, but the game will oftentimes think that you're trying to jump. And even when it does work, your dude will usually continue to push after you wish to stop, and you can't turn while pushing, so you're left out of control.

    Closing Comments

Go! Ski Sports is terrible. That's all you need to know.

    And the SCORE ??!? 2.1 out of 10 . that's right.

This would’ve been a cool game in 2014, Techland created huge hype for this in 2014 and the reviews and vids looked cool. I’m looking at it now and I’m not pumped up about it. (almost like it died down a lot)A lot of gameplay vids recently released looks a lot different from early previews in 2014. (I preferred the old look and feel)I would really like to boycott Techland for the move they pulled to get a complete multiplayer feature (Be a fanboy zombie) when pre-ordering. Somewhere we as gamers need to draw a line. (with moves like this at this increase in DLC tactics)I’m not going ‘OMG I want this now’ likehow I feel aboutWitcher 3

October 18, 2007 - From what we experienced at E for All today in Los Angeles, don't expect the show to return next year. Aside from being a Nintendo fanboy's dream, showcasing Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Galaxy, and a few other killer Wii titles, the "everybody gets to play" convention housed very little worthwhile content, save for one undeniably impressive effort by Konami: Metal Gear Solid 4. You've read impressions on the game before, and if you're anything like us video updates spawn instant email and IM chains across your friends list as you eagerly watch new snippets of footage. MGS4 is the game everyone's waiting for on PS3, so when we heard that an updated version of the TGS demo (now in English, and housing stronger AI) would be playable at the otherwise-desolate E for All we were of course on board.

GTA IV is the first GTA to ever get a full 10 out of10. the review is 7 pages and i only read the first but it sounds really amazing.

Oh and I have a friend who works at game and he says the recieved stock of the special edition and the bag is really small, like a quarter of the size it shows it is in the promotional picture. Oh well as long as it holds the game.

    DB:2.69:10/10 Ign Review az

I agree that a 10/10 score doesn't have to mean 'perfection', games like GTA are art, and can never achieve perfection in the sense of getting full marks in a pub quiz.

He admits the game has some minor flaws, but that the games positives more than makes up for them.

If the game lives up to the reviews I have seen so far, I would actually say it would be churlish to give the game any less!

It is ground breaking in its' application of physics engine, AI, art, its' interpretation of a city, and has a phenominal multi-player aspect.

16 players in a populated city? Can you think of anything that remotely comes close? Imagine how CoD 4's engine would react if there were civilians getting caught up in the battles? (Fantastic game btw, just trying to draw a comparison)

What the reviewer has done, is weighed up all the positives and questioned what is feasible at this stage in games technology, thought this game is amazing, does anything within it detract from the experience, and came up with the answer; no it doesn't.

You may disagree with that decision when you get the game, it is after all a subjective opinion, but to write it off as 'fanboyism' before you have played it appears a little pre-emptive and cynical.

Actually i've never owned an rpg and i would like one but am worried that oblivion would be a massive 'time sponge' , whereas assassins seems to be sharper and sweeter and similiar to prince of persia which i loved. I am concerned at the low rating IGN gave assassins though.

However, the build that was shown then was still very early, and while it featured some slowdown and hints of large boss characters, we were teased without a lot of information about the upcoming title. Digi-Guys first announced WarDevil as a PS3 exclusive in – wait for it—2004. Five years later, the game is only now securing a publisher in Ignition Entertainment and has not been shown since 2006. But that may soon change. There's still no date set for the project, but a company rep recently told IGN that an Xbox 360 version will ship alongside the PS3 version. WarDevilFor: Xbox 360, PS3Watch the Wardevil Trailer

If you're like me, you've spent a considerable amount of time trying to come up with the perfect videogame developer name. I went through dozens of sweet choices before settling on The Dukes of Deliverables. It's sort of like Silicon Knights but more business-friendly. But Digi-Guys never would have made it onto my reject list. It sounds more like the name of one of those cell phone kiosks in the mall than a multi-million-dollar game production company. Given that Ignition is officially on board, I'll bump this one to Stable.

    check the rest on ign.

I'm actually liking the look of the multiplayer a lot, droping single player if it wasn't shaping up is a fair thing to do, though i think they should include training runs. It looks like it could be a much lighter Battle Field 2 kinda fun.

The rest of the stuff on the weekly trailer was pretty ace too, some REALLY impressive games showing up.

    DB:2.65:Ign's Prototype Review mj

    Closing Comments

Prototype is a game with many cool features. However, it lacks many of the finishing touches that make for a great and memorable game. To say the graphics and game engine need work is a massive understatement and many of the missions are cookie cutter in design without any real focus or attention to detail. Thankfully, Alex Mercer's absorbing and shape shifting powers manage to overcome many of the shortcomings of Prototype. Though the missions themselves aren't anything special, the vast array of powers provides their own variety and flair.
    IGN Ratings for Prototype
    Rating Description

6.5 PresentationVery hit or miss. Some cutscenes are a confused joke, others are well-produced. The story isn't your standard fare, but that doesn't mean it is outstanding.

5.5 GraphicsIf it weren't for some nice animations, this game wouldn't have anything going for it visually.

7.5 SoundThere's nothing exceptional going on here, but the sounds and music do their job. The voice acting is decent.

8.0 GameplayToying around with the powers, consuming and crushing everything in your path, and generally playing with the world is fun. The mission design could be better and things do tend to get too chaotic.

6.5 Lasting AppealYou can do just about everything in well under 20 hours. I didn’t find myself compelled to play for a second time at all.

    7.5

I have to disagree, their reviews always seem to be spot on. If you look on metacritic/gamerankings IGN reviews are usually always in the middle of other reviews and hold the average score. Prototype does look pants though IMO.
I broadly agree with you (especially on Prototype looking pants) - IGN usually get it about right for me except for their hilarious 6.5 for Terminator Salvation, I'd struggle to mark it above 2.

Some interesting things in there he goes on to explain how they tried to avoid the game getting repetitive (happy wigster?)

The game will include puzzles along with just straight up killing missions, different cutscenes depending on your karma and much more.

I wonder if thats to come with this new PS3 site in the future - It would be great to download them from playstation itself, ive seen many many gameplay demo's that would be great as an official playstation thread or competition setup.
Anyone Have any thoughts on this?

    DB:2.64:Why Ign For Demo's? as

It's because it costs too much in bandwidth to host these 10-125MB video files. The way they see it is that most people know to go to sites like ign.com. gametrailers.com, gamespot.com etc for these videos so why waste money hosting them on here?

About friggin time is all I have to say

though its not too much IGN link

I honestly was starting to this this game had gone MIA.

but it still seems to have some life.

Personally I think Square should release this before

they release FFXIV (which I doubt will be released this yr)

Be interesting to see if this actually stays exclusive

and if we hear anything at the TGS.

I am interested in this game but Square keep dissapointing me

ever since the 360 released in 2005 they keep releasing games

    well below standard.

The only thing thats pretty safe to say is it will probably look

    really pretty.

I agree with your comments about Squeenix' decline in quality post-360. Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant (shudder) and Star Ocean 4 were all of very average quality. I hated FF13 too, but thats another story.

They released so many amazing games on psone and ps2, maybe they've just lost their touch.

Back on topic, im really looking forward to Versus, it sounds more like a traditional Final Fantasy game so hopefully it delivers.

Most of the games you liked were probably from the Square era (PS1 certainly was ), before the merger with Enix. Star Ocean is an Enix IP as far as I know, I actually quite liked number 4

Just wondering, as they give HAZE a 4.5 (and surelyat least a 6)and give H3 a 9.5 (i think), even if a game is worse on 360 they give it the same score as the PS3 1. But if its the other way around the PS3 1 will get less. So are IGN kinda like 360 fanboys?

Well, IGN have rated God of War as the singlemost best ps2 game

    " 1) God of War
    Developer: SCE Studios Santa Monica
    Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
    Year Released: 2005

Synopsis: Though the PlayStation 2 has seen a rather incredible number of extremely high quality and classic titles in its six-plus year lifespan, no game has better shown off what the system is capable of than God of War. We're not just talking visuals here, either -- the control mechanics are virtually perfect, the storytelling techniques are fantastic and the scope of the game is downright enormous.

But while God of War's epic feel makes it stand out, it's the subtle things therein that allow it to sit at the top of our list. Nearly every facet of the game's design is perfect, from the pacing to the difficulty to the way its tale is wrapped with Greek mythology. No other PlayStation 2 title is as epic, well-designed or perhaps even universally beloved as God of War, so it takes our place as the best PS2 game of all time. "

The PlayStation 3's strongest launch title looks to have some very long legs, especially since Insomniac continues to pump out content for its first PlayStation 3 title, Resistance: Fall of Man. The game has seen a number of patches that have tweaked and refined the gameplay, as well as a downloadable map pack that gave gamers new arenas to wage war in.

Insomniac is set to release the second map pack sometime around the end of this month, and IGN have the first screens and details on what will be contained in the package. As well, IGN fired off a number of questions to Ted Price, the president and CEO of Insomniac Games, to see what it's all about.

Both games will be in stores at around August/September but Playstation Magazine does not seem very happy with both games, as the magazine rates Warhawk 6.5, and Lair even lower: 5.0.

In the image of the magazine, you can see that Lair is described as: "A one-trick dragon" and destroys it with a 5.0 rating. 9.5 Presentation
The whole thing has the polish of a major motion picture and goes out of its way to immerse you in the experience with amazing cutscenes, music and more.
    9.0 Graphics
There's no doubt the game looks great and that the use of in-game assets for the movies is seamless transition, but there's still a fair amount of screen tearing and texture pop in.
    9.5 Sound
From the low instrumental piece accompanying the opening screen to the sweeping score that runs throughout the whole game, this is what videogame music should be.
    9.0 Gameplay
This game is flat-out fun to play. Leaping from ledges is awesome, shootouts are fun, and the occasional vehicle section is a nice change of pace. Still, the pirate battles can be a bit much.
    8.5 Lasting Appeal
The game is short, but the medals, rewards and bonuses should be enough to bring you back at least once.

You probably all know the history of TimeShift, but here's a brief recap. Since the game's first prototype in 2003, it has moved platforms (from PC and Xbox to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3), changed publishers (from Atari to Sierra) and has undergone a major redesign. In fact, TimeShift was only seven bugs away from shipping when Sierra asked the team what they'd be able to do if they were given another year to work on the game. The result is a radically different game in many ways, thanks to a complete visual overhaul that puts it on par with just about any other shooter out there, an all-new script, new and redesigned levels, and a whole lot more. During the redesign period, the team at Saber grew 50% to 75 people, and the end is now - once again - in sight. Thankfully, despite all the changes, the team has stayed focused, and the end result is shaping up to be a rock solid single player shooter and one of the best multiplayer offerings of the year.

I would say they're pretty much spot on but marathon as download only game, no way, it would be wipeout for me.

I really need to check out Fallout 3, made by the oblivion people aswell. Lol at G4...

    DB:2.61:Best Of E3 - Ign cz

We may have got to see nothing of Fallout 3 but a lot of the journalists did, there was a big presentation of the game.

I was disappointed by MGS4 at E3, if they had shown the 15min gameplay footage then they would have been onto a winner.

The official E3 awards will be up on Monday, it'll be interesting to see who wins that.
