For instructions on removing older drivers, consult the manufacturers' documentation." "Error initializing CoreMIDI. Faulty MDID driver? The error is "Audio MIDI Setup couldn't open the MIDI Serv so you can't view or edit your MIDI configurations. If you recently installed a new MIDI driver, try uninstalling it and then open Audio MIDI Setup again. If Audio MIDI Setup works correctly after that, contact the driver's manufacturer for further support."I dont really know what to uninstall. I dont recall installing a MIDI driver for the akai acp40 or the maudio oxygen25. There are no drivers on the maudio site or Akai website for the gear I have. Completely detaching the akai acp40 and the maudio oxygen25 for my mac and rebooting has no affect. maudio claims the following when attempting to download the oxygen25 driver --- "This device is class compliant and does not require driver support for OS X."I am running osx 10.6.8 and logic pro 9.1.7 on a MBP. I ran disk utility and corrected disk permissions three times and that did not seem to help. At one point the akai apc40 and maudio oxygen worked fine.Any clues on how to cure this problem?Cheers

    Hi!!!

I have a new MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz intel Core 2 Duo.
My MAC OS X is a Snow Leopard 10.6 and I use a Logic Pro 9.1

Today I tried to connect my TC Electronics Studio Konnekt 48 Sound Cart but I have a big problem with this.

When the Logic trying to open for too long time in field "Checking Midi Drivers" still stuck.

The Driver to I use is a Version 2.2.2 adds support for MAC OS X Snow Leopard.

    After 2 minutes displayed a message :

"Logic Pro has detected a MIDI timeout. Please restart your computer, then relaunch Logic Pro.If the problem persists, update the drivers of all connected MIDI devices (including audio drivers with MIDI functionality) to the latest version.
For instructions on removing older drivers, consult the manufacturers' documentation."

    Unfortunately the problem remains.
I wrote the same message into the forum of TC SK48 Users.

Does anyone know something about this???

    Thank you in advance
    I am looking forward

Yep you're right. None of us here have a clue about Logic, especially not me.

To the OP: Have you tried to reinstall your TC drivers? And did you make sure to install the latest version (downloaded from the site)? Another thing to check is.. what other gear (audio interface, midi interface) have you used before on this machine? I've had exactly the same problem on a system where the drivers for a Digidesign Mbox 2 has been installed before. Eventually I removed the Digidesign midi drivers and things worked fine after that.
Rather than just asking on the TC forum, you should contact TC tech support as well. You bought their equipment, you are entitled to assistance. They are usually pretty good at getting back to you promptly.

    Of course it is.

1st solution: "Freeze" the track. Logic will bounce an audio file that you can find in the project folder/freeze files/ Folder. This file will contain all the effects and plugins of the channelstrip already recorded into the audio. So you can't adjust them afterwards. So if you want to use the audio without effects, you have to bypass them in the channelstrip before freezing.

2nd solution: Send the signal from the midi track to a bus (preferably pre fader) and record this bus to another audiotrack (you have to select "bus" as input)

    Yep.

I was working on GarageBand, and my USB headset mic was not recording correctly. It was recording odd sounds, which sounded like electrical flow. I then unplugged my mic. When I did this, my USB ports on the back of my monitor (only keyboard is plugged in there) stopped working. (These are still not working... any ideas why?) I plugged the keyboard into the computer, and it worked fine. Next time I opened up GarageBand, it took a long time during the 'Initializing' step, then I get a warning window (which, after I press OK, comes up a total of four times) which says,

    "Timeout or Timer inactive!
Check other applications using Timer of MIDI'
    (Code 0)"

Then the project opens, and I get another window which says,

    "Warning.
Mac OS X MIDI Services not available"

And, as it says, all my MIDI (green) loops are gone. I cannot play any of my projects; when I try, the first message appears.
Then when I close the project, it once again gives the first message four times.

Does anyone know what is wrong, and how I can fix this? I really need this problem solved soon, for my project has a deadline.

    Thanks for you help,

Are you opening that MIDI file in your web browser or are you downloading it and opening it in QuickTime Player? I have been doing the latter.

I should note too that this issue is intermittent for me. Sometimes I don't see it at all, and I use GB2 to record my band when they come over as well as to create audio files for everyone to listen to on their own and for my copy of iTunes. Most of the time when I do that, I don't get the error.

I installed the new driver but still get the error message, maybe because I haven't removed the old driver. Since I can't search "driver", does anyone know where there located. I also wanted to dump my preferences but I'm not sure which ones to dump.

DB:3.22:Timeout Or Timer Inactive And Mac Os X Midi Services Not Availalble (Code 0 1p

After finally tweaking things to the point where I think I have a stable system, I made one lil' change and got repeated "Timeout or Timer Inactive..." messages when booting Logic. I even got that error message several times when I tried to quit Logic (or what was left of it after it booted).

I think I know why this happened. It was cuz I made that teensy little change.

I mean, it was just one lil' change, shouldn't have really "changed" anything...

    Right?

    [SIGH]

    But it did.

    And then I fixed it.

And now I don't have the problem with timeouts anymore.

And here's what I think generates those timeout messages...

OK, first, I have a Unitor8+AMT8 MIDI interface. The lil' change I made was to move its USB connection to the computer from the FRONT of the G5 to the BACK. The result: problems.

I don't like problems. So I moved the MIDI interface's USB connection back to the front (and rebooted). And now, no problems.

So I think the moral of the story is that if you're using a USB 1.x interface (like my Unitor8+AMT8), don't plug it in to the USB 2.0 port. Instead, plug it in to the USB 1.x connector in the front.

i'm feeling your woe mate, just hit me today.

workaround is to start a new project and import track by track till you see where the problem is coming from, if it reproduces itself at all.

may i recommend you bounce all your parts down too to audio, at least if it comes really on top there's the option of finishing your work on another sequencer

Got a brand new iMac in February, GarageBand will not start up due to a freeze in MIDI the following is the error message I Get:

GarageBand has detected a MIDI timeout. Please restart your computer, then relaunch GarageBand. If the problem persists, update the drivers of all connected MIDI devices (including audio drivers with MIDI functionality) to the latest version. For instructions on removing older drivers, consult the manufacturers' documentation.

I have done as suggested, but GarageBand still won't complete start up. I cannot open old projects, I have repaired disk permissions, removed the "EmagicUSBMIDIDriver" as was suggested in a post for the '08 version. Still no luck as far as getting it to work. I continue to get the same messages. I have no MIDI drivers to install. and none that I can find on the web.

I bought a mac mini at the same time, same basic configuration, but it works over there. I have a Casio keyboard that plugs into the USB port and works like a charm on my Mini, but doesn't on the iMac. Anybody have a clue as to what can be done to make it work?

Guys,I could not find any solution on apple's blog so far, so considering that I just found the solution to this problem I wanted to share it here so if people in the future face the same stuff, they don't need to go around like I did all night long!!Thanks to George Leger III who posted on below link:(http://www.logic-users-group.com/forums/showthread.php?p=27468)I got the MIDI TIMEOUT issue all of a sudden while I was using Logic Pro 9.1.5 connecting my Apogee GIO and my Casio keyboard at the same time.I am running OS 10.7 (Lion)The issue seems to be due to a Driver conflict between GIO and MIDII tried to remove all the Apogee GIO drivers and Plug In (I even removed the Apogee Gio.app).My Casio model does not need any driver, so I guess it's running by using some default drivers (I only found EmagicUSBMIDIDriver.plugin but I don't want to touch this).Well, now my Logic Pro and GarageBand open without anymore error, so I fell much better!I will try to install again the Apogee GIO drivers later...Hopefully this error will not persist!Cheers!

    DB:3.05:Usb Timeout Problems With A Large Usb/Midi Setup 38

I have a large USB midi controller setup - using Logic Pro 8 and a Macbook 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GB ram and running 10.5.8. It's used in a live performance situation with Logic acting as a Midi sound source for all the controllers. I've used the environment page to setup each controller's access to the sounds/samplers needed. It runs fine 93% of the time but i have encountered a few problems with USB connections. I know it's a sin to use USB hubs, and they are probably the cause of the problem. I have 6 controllers running : M-Audio Oxygen 8 v2-2 each , O2, Axiom 61, Trigger finger, and Alesis Control Pad. 1 hub with 3 controllers in one USB port of the Macbook, another hub with 3 controller in the other USB port of the Macbook.

Occasionally the USB devices can't talk to Logic, but a disconnect- replug gets them going again, and, less frequently, the USB inputs on the Macbook quit working completely- disconnect and replug has no effect. Restart is the only solution here. Audio-Midi Setup doesn't even see the controllers turning off and on.

    2 Questions:
    1. What specifically happens to the USB inputs when talking to USB hubs that would cause such a problem? Does the Macbook USB port poll the hub to see if it's alive? or...?
    2. When operating 2 M-Audio Oxygen8v2's, their identities switch randomly. They are configured in Audio Midi interface with distinct names, and always plugged into the same USB ports. Every third day or so, the system comes up and mixes the identities. How does each individual controller-especially 2 of the same model- identify itself in it's transmission to the USB ports of the Macbook?

Anyone who can help me with the nuts and bolts of how the Macbook handles these USB transmissions would be much appreciated.
    thanks.

I know that MainStage doesn't do MIDI playback, but it occurred to me that there might be some software that played MIDI files and simulated a MIDI device. Does anyone know of anything that presents itself as if a MIDI controller has connected? You could then play a MIDI file through MainStage patches by setting MainStage's MIDI input to the simulated device.

You should be able to route the transmission back to MS via an IAC bus (but you may need to be careful to avoid 'feedback' loops. The basic problems with it could be:a) when an SMF is "activated", the file is sent to a buffer and transmitted. This happens when you 'load and select' the file, and also when you change patches (with files associated) in MS.b) There is NO way to stop transmission of a file, other than quitting MS entirely. There is no way to clear the buffer either.c) If you happen to select several files, either when setting up the patches in the first place, or whilst auditioning the Concert, the files are sent to the buffer sequentially, and they will continue to play all the way through (unless you quit MS)CCT

I have a large MIDI rig (including Kontact 5 Player in my DAW). The posts that you saw are probably all the help you're going to get on this subject. You are not going to find a MIDI palette in LabVIEW any time soon.

You're best bet is to learn some C++ and the MS dll that handles multimedia and wrap the MIDI parts in a new dll that you can call with LabVIEW CLFN.

EDIT: BTW, DEFINITELY start with the library linked above by Sev. It will provide a good example of using the CLFN.

    Hello All,
2 quick questions with regards to Apple MIDI loops:
    1. Looking for the MIDI loops on the HD, are these the *.CAF files?
    2. Does any one know how to get the Apple midi loops into Ableton Live as MIDI loops and not audio loops?

    Thx, Kipp

    DB:2.90:Apple Loops (Green -≫ Midi) 2 Questions? 83

So it looks like CAF files are just compressed AIF files. And somehow the Green loops are not differentiated from Audio loops when viewing via Finder. At least that is what I am seeing. Any loop from the Jam packs that are dragged into LIVE end up as a Audio loop.
I guess a work around would be to work on the MIDI green loop in Logic, then export as MIDI... then drag that file into LIVE.
    Thx, Kipp

Can LabView interact witha MIDI-capable piece of HW through acheap 5 dollar USB MIDI cable?

DB:2.90:Labview And Usb Midi Cable km

LabVIEW is able to communicate though midi, although it's a very very hacky process! I'm assuming your cable has drivers and creates a midi interface

There's two ways to do it, this works if you are on windows and it's probably the cleanest way.

    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/718

which may be enough for some people... The second, more full featured way of getting MIDI out of labview is through OSC... get this

    https://decibel.ni.com/content/groups/osc

And use it to generate OSC messages, then grab a complementary piece of software to do the OSC- MIDI translation, unfortunately the OSC to midi conversion department is pretty sad right now, there's a lot of hacky programs, like OSCulator, touchOSC bridge, this thing (http://konkreetlabs.com/2011/05/24/free-win-mac-osc-to-midi-converter/) that all can be persuaded into working, but it's not very pretty. perhaps the best alternative to get MIDI to OSC is though a synthesis software suite such as pureData, MAX/MSP, Max for Live... but I assume you don't want to learn a new programming language (and don't want to spend hundreds of dollars in music software)

As a matter of fact, because labVIEW's native MIDI support is less than stellar,(or inexistent! ) I'm working on third way, basically creating a whole API to communicate to the OS provided midi interfaces, but you need to do some DLL/framework (winMM, CoreMidi, ALSA) in addition to the labVIEW API to get it working... It's actually not that sophisticated, but there's way to much work to be done before it's usable ( so far you can get a listing of MIDI devices and information about them but no messaging just yet..)

I've decided to download the most recent Driver for Firewire Solo (even if I might already have it) to see if that helps. Though I doubt it will, since this problem is happening even when I don't use my Firewire Solo.

DB:2.89:Help! Software Update Has Corrupted Audio Midi Setup kj

I've just downloaded the software updates for Java Security and Security as prompted by the Software Update window. This, in effect, has caused a problem with the Audio MIDI Setup.

When opening Garageband, the message "Timeout or Timer inactive! Check other applications using Timer or MIDI (Code 0). After exiting a number of these prompts, Garageband finally opens with an additonal window displaying the message "Warning: Mac OS X MIDI Services not available". Clicking OK to remove the window, I then had to force quit Garageband as I could not quit in the normal fashion.

I have a M-Audio Firewire 410 Audio/MIDI interface, which was connected at the time of Software Updates. When looking into the Audio MIDI Setup, icons representing MIDI devices was replaced by "No MIDI Setup".

I have had this happen before where I have clicked for Software Updates only to encounter the same problem with Audio/MIDI interface. Apple Tech Support advised to action a re-install of the operating system.

Do I have to go through re-install process again to rectify the Audio MIDI Setup problem, or is there another way to resolve this issue?

DB:2.89:Help! Software Update Has Corrupted Audio Midi Setup kj

so, how on earth is it that installing software for FireWire-based MIDI devices will clear up a mic not being recognized.

    Is midi-region stretching possible?

    DB:2.89:Midi-Region Stretching? 3m

No absolutely simple way. Here's how I'd do it (assuming you have Output 1-2 in your arrange window):

    Select the Output 1-2 track
Select region (that selects any loop extension of that region as well)
    Region Set Locators by Region
    Solo the track
Click on Bnce (the bounce button on Output 1-2)

You have to do it in that order so that Output 1-2 receives the start/end position correctly. It's a bit of a fiddle - perhaps someone can improve my method???

Region Bounce Regions would be a v nice feature...

Once downloaded to your mac desktop you simply paste them into the proper folder for your DAW and they will appear for use in the patch area for your instrument. Roland provides instruction as to how to download and put the files into the mac. I tried it with my Fantom G6 files and it worked perfectly. This is much easier than going to the command prompt and editing each patch name with a much lower chance of messing up the file.

    3) The new input object is displayed as a channel strip

    4) Select your physical input (the input on your audio interface where you connect your mic) in the input's "Channel" section in the menu on the left side of the "Mixer" layer screen (you have to have your Input channel strip selected/highlighted for that)

    5) Insert Limiter into one of the insert slots of the Input object's channel strip

To avoid the unwanted noise/hiss in your vocal track, try experimenting with Noise gate plugin, which you can insert BEFORE the Limiter plugin. Noise Gate ignores signal which is below a certain threshold, so you can set up a threshold which would be above the noise level and eliminate hiss or background noise captured by your mic.

GarageBand has detected a MIDI timeout. Please restart your computer, then relaunch GarageBand. If the problem persists, update the drivers of all connected MIDI devices (including audio drivers with MIDI functionality) to the latest version. For instructions on removing older drivers, consult the manufacturers' documentation.I've since deleted the plugin and restarted numerous times but cant seem to get rid of this error. It's effecting all of my music applications I have an intel iMac running 10.8.3

angezeigt. Brauche ich spezielle Software außer MidiOX?
