    I have disabled the tasks and opted out of the Customer Experience Improvement Program in Windows 7, However I am still being autologged out every day in the wee early morning hourswith the message "User Logoff Notification for Customer Experience Improvement
    Program" "Event ID: 7002" I am at my wits end to put an end to this issue, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I too was having this problem. Performed various steps to disable CEIP but was still getting kicked out with the 7002 event id. In my case it was related to Remote Desktop settings. There was a setting "End a disconnected session" after 1 day. The solution
    was to change this to "Never"

    When windows update attempts to install service pack 1 it fails with error code 800736B3. I am running Windows 7 professional64-bit.
    I have been looking around these forums and others to find a solution and I am afraid that I will have to re-install windows.Since I have startedreceivingthis error message I have successfullyreceivedother updates besides
    SP1 from windows update.
    So far I have tried:
    1. Installing the hotfix/update readinesstool - Windows6.1-KB947821-v10-x64
    2. I have run sfc /scannow in the command prompt as the administrator
    3. run the windows update troubleshooter to fix any problems
    4. deleted the entire contents of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution; when I delete these files it redownloads the update, yet on the installation it gets about 65% of the way through and fails.
    5. disabled and re-enabled BITS
    6. downloaded the stand-alone manual update,the installfailed part of the way through

    From what I understand .sqm files are associated with Windows Live Messenger. Suppose to be a setting in Messenger where you can prevent it from making the files. That's according to filext dot com. I can not guarantee that as I do not use Windows Live Messenger.

    If you create a new User in System Preferences do the Office for Mac applications open in the new User?

    Go to System Preferences Create a New User in Accounts (Users Groups). Switch to the New User by logging out under the Apple in the Menu bar or use Fast User Switching.

    Do you still see the issue?

    If yes, then the problem is with your base files.
    If no, then the problem is in your User's folder.

    I researched it by clicking the More information link and found that it's documented as an optional update that proposes to send anonymous traces to Microsoft without obtaining user consent:

    Generally speaking, I'm not a fan of Microsoft gathering information from me, using my internet link,and (like many folks concerned with security and privacy issues) I've turned off the participation in customer experience improvement settings where
    I've found them.
    It's pretty clearMicrosoftwants to gather performance data on the free RP software that's running out in the world, and certainly there are people complaining about performance issues, butit's not clear whether consenting to install this
    update overrides the Customer Experience Program participation settings.

    Hi,
    I am trying to install an Exchange 2013 in an enviroment with an old Exchange 2010 server.
    But I get this error when i run the setup.exe in Powershell:
    Customer Experience Improvement Program for the organization is set to False by your Organization Admin. You can't enable the Customer Experience Improvement Program for this server.

    I have then logged on the Exchange 2010 server and enabled Costumer Experience Improvement Program through the Management Console, but I still get the error in the Exchange 2013 installation.
    If I run Get-OrganizationConfig on the Exchange 2010 server, I can see that CustomerFeedbackEnabled is set to True.

    What am I missing??

    I've been trying to upgrade my existing e-mail client (Incredimail) to Incredimail 2.
    When I run the .exe file for the upgrade, I keep getting an error message that says:
    "Incredimail installer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
    I've tried some recommended solutions for this problem, including 1. running scandisk, 2. turning off Microsoft's Customer Experience Improvement Program, 3. ensuring my start-up type was set at "Manual" in Computer Management Tree Services and Applications
    Windows Installer.
    None of this has fixed the problem.
    Can someone please help me urgently? I can't access my e-mails until I upgrade to this new e-mail client.

    If the error message is: Incredimail installer has stopped working. Then the problem lies with the Incredimail installer and not the Windows Installer.

    However, you can try the following: Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utilityfrom here. Then you can try and remove any installation files from the Incredimail and then try again
    to download and install.

    I would install by right clicking on the .exe file and select, Run as Administrator.

    I have spoken too Sony support re this matter. The sony rep to whom I spoke was rude and nasty. She offered no help or sympathy. She just told me I had a 1 year guarantee and that was finished. I registered this Tv with Sony when I first bought yet all my registration details where not available or lost when I have a problem!!! I managed too talk to the dealer where I purchased Tv - bought in Southwest Eng I know live in Northwest... Unless I can get 231km or 144 miles to them then I can't get fixed!!! I have looked for the nearest service centre.2 myself and because I don't own a car and have very little money right now - might as well be on MARS. You know the irony of it all is that I saved hard too go with SONY branding in order that this did not happen. My parents still own a SONY trinatron portable tv which is nearly 30-35 years old and still perfect. Anyways thanks for taking the time and considering my plight Snozzz

    Hi There, i have Microsoft office 2008 student edition, and i just installed an update, but now entourage won't start after i installed that update, all the other office programs work fine, but when i open entourage it comes up with a "Customer Experience Improvement Program" assistant, then when i finnish that assistant entourage never opens, and then if i try to open entourage again, it does the exact same thing...

    An IT administrator can use Group Policy to determine whether users are given the option to join or leave the Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) for these three products. The Group Policy setting prevents users making or changing their choice and, if such a choice has already been made, overrides it.
    The Group Policy CEIP setting is stored on users’ machines in the HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Expression\Blend\fcc32528-adfa-49d5-933c-270463cb3977 Registry key. Set the DWORD QMEnable value to 0 to opt out and 1 to opt in.

    Both of the attached DMP files are of the CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION (109) bug check.

    This indicates that the kernel has detected critical kernel code or data corruption.

    There are generally two causes for this bug check:

    A driver has inadvertently, or deliberately, modified critical kernel code or data. Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) and later versions of Windows for x64-based computers do not allow the kernel to be patched except through authorized
    Microsoft-originated hot patches. For more information, see
    Patching Policy for x64-based Systems.
    A hardware corruption occurred. For example, the kernel code or data could have been stored in memory that failed.

    Essentially, if there's a 3rd party driver believed to be at issue, enabling Driver Verifier will help flush out the rogue driver if it detects a violation.

    Before enabling Driver Verifier, it is recommended to create a System Restore Point:

    Windows 7 - START | type create | select "Create a Restore Point"

    How to enable Driver Verifier:

    Start type "verifier" without the quotes Select the following options -

    1. Select - "Create custom settings (for code developers)"
    2. Select - "Select individual settings from a full list"
    3. Check the following boxes -
    - Special Pool
    - Pool Tracking
    - Force IRQL Checking
    - Deadlock Detection
    - Security Checks (Windows 7 8)
    - DDI compliance checking (Windows 8)
    - Miscellaneous Checks
    4. Select - "Select driver names from a list"
    5. Click on the "Provider" tab. This will sort all of the drivers by the provider.
    6. Check EVERY box that is [B]NOT[/B] provided by Microsoft / Microsoft Corporation.
    7. Click on Finish.
    8. Restart.

    Important information regarding Driver Verifier:

    - If Driver Verifier finds a violation, the system will BSOD.

    - After enabling Driver Verifier and restarting the system, depending on the culprit, if for example the driver is on start-up, you may not be able to get back into normal Windows because Driver Verifier will flag it, and as stated above, that will cause /
    force a BSOD.

    If this happens, do not panic, do the following:

    - Boot into Safe Mode by repeatedly tapping the F8 key during boot-up.

    - Once in Safe Mode - Start Search type "cmd" without the quotes.

    - To turn off Driver Verifier, type in cmd "verifier /reset" without the quotes.
    ・ Restart and boot into normal Windows.

    If your OS became corrupt or you cannot boot into Windows after disabling verifier via Safe Mode:

    - Boot into Safe Mode by repeatedly tapping the F8 key during boot-up.

    - Once in Safe Mode - Start type "system restore" without the quotes.

    - Choose the restore point you created earlier.

    How long should I keep Driver Verifier enabled for?

    It varies, many experts and analysts have different recommendations. Personally, I recommend keeping it enabled for at least 24 hours. If you don't BSOD by then, disable Driver Verifier.

    My system BSOD'd, where can I find the crash dumps?

    They will be located in %systemroot%\Minidump

    I have a Windows 7 machine here that needs to stay logged on 24/7 due to a program that needs to receive and send files constantly with a remote server.
    We noticed that CEIP would routinely log off and leave the application off, so we disabled it
    But it's still restarting on a regular basis, and is disrupting our workflow
    Please tell me I'm not the only one with this issue! I could only find threads that were solved by disabling CEIP in the first image, but not ones where it keeps happening even after the disable.

    Hi,
    According to your description, the error occurred when you tried to install AppFabric 1.1.
    The error may be due to the Task Scheduler service was disabled.
    I recommend to change the value Start=dword:00000004 (Disabled) to Start=dword:00000002 (Automatic) of the register key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Schedule].
    If the service is still not enabled, reboot the machine.

    I created a Windows Domain account that works on MYDOMAIN. All computers attached to MYDOMAIN can use the credentials I have created for log on except for one.

    On PROBLEMSERVER01 when I try to log in with MYDOMAIN\myuser I get the following error (other accounts previously created are working):

    User Profile Service service failed the sign-in.
    User Profile cannot be loaded.

    When I log on to the server and check C:\Users I do not see a folder associated with the account I created. When I check each registry's S-1-5 folders under the the ProfileImagePath entry there is
    no entry for my user. It doesn't have any folder underProfileListassociated with it.

    If I try to create the account locally on the machine it appears to work upon creation (no errors there), but if I try to log in I get the same message and no entries are added to the registry.

    User Profile Service service failed the sign-in.

    I have tried to delete C:\Users\Default but Windows says the file is in use by another process. I rebooted the machine and tried again with the same results. After deleting files one by one, I found the offending files to be locked:

    PeerDistPubCatalog.pds
    I am not able to unlock the files with Handle.

    I had to search for C:\Users\Default\ before I could find the locked files with Handle.
    I unlocked the files and removed C:\Users\Default. I then copied C:\Users\Default from a known working server,howeverI am still experiencing the same issue on log in.

    User Profile cannot be loaded.

    I didn't suggest to delete the folder c:\users\default -- only the contents of that folder/subfolders.
    You must now check that you have correctly replaced all the necessary files from a known good machine.
    you must also check that there are no extra files/folders on the affected machine (compare file/folder counts for the two machines).
    Also now confirm that all files/folders in the repaired c:\users\default, do have the necessary permissions (compare with known good)
    You must also check that the permissions (internal to NTUSER.DAT) are correctly set.
    NTUSER.DAT is the user profile registry hive (HKCU) for new user profiles, and it must contain necessary permissions to allow new user accounts to internally have RW access to all registry keys within that (Default User) profile NTUSER.DAT.
    (you will need to use regedit to verify these permissions)

    Thank you for the reply.

    The Event id 1006 can be ignored. As a work around you can try to disable the
    Customer Experience Improvement Programand check the issue. You can follow the steps given below to disable
    Customer Experience Improvement Program.

    1) Press Windows Key + Q Key, type Customer Experience Improvement Program.
    2) Click on search results and you will see a window.
    3) Click on No, I don't want to participate in this program and then click on
    Save Changes.

    Now check the issue and let us know the status.

    I am trying to re-install the Sharepoint 2013 Prerequisites and it just keeps rebooting the server into an endless loop after it Installs. Sharepoint and Appfabric had been playing along great until one day we started getting functionality
    issues on Sharepoint.
    I took a peek at the CustomActions log and found this:

    This is not an install from the PowerShell but through the SP Prerequisites.

    I have spent a few days now looking at proposed solutions all to no avail
    Can anyone shed a bit of light?

    Have you seen a power user who has CEIP (Customer Experience Improvement Program)turned on? I for one have not. Advanced users just don't have it activated, since they are the the kind of people who also tweak their autostart entries and kill off unneeded
    services. So of course they won't run CEIP.
    Basing all your design around telemetry insuresthe dumbing down of the Windows plattform, because pretty muchall
    telemetry (with very few exceptions) comes only from Joe Sixpack and mom pop.
    I don't think its in Microsoft's interest to completely remove the power users from their ecosystem, since those people are also the developers and the admins.

    Well, one approach might be for those with the hyper-inflated egos to avoid mucking with the system and turning off services becuase by doing so, they are removing THEMSELVES from the eco system.

    Doesn't change the fact that telemetry is pointless. Microsoft needs to take the reality into account.

    Telemetry isn't pointless it can be a valuable insight into how participating users interact with the system.
    It also isn't the only method of gathering info MS use, you could probably include this forum as one of those othet source.
    Or, maybe mom pop users, social web users etc outnumber 'power users' by a significant margin and the telemetry reflects that.Acer W500 tablet & dock, New 'works' Lenovo laptop Too much apple stuff. Remember: A Developer Preview is just that, a preview for developers - not everything will work 'just right' on day 1.

    Like you said, I exported those registry from a machine that already had SyncToy installed and then on the new machine, I imported those registry follow by the unattended install. With this, I didn't receive the Customer Experience Improvement Program popup screen message!

    Bought this brand new laptop and camera response is very poor at night time even when lighting conditon bright. Sony Customer service sent technician and replace whole video screen. Result was little improvement.

    I brought laptop to Sony service center at Beverly center and technician did software check and result was very minimal improvemnt on brightness. Compared to all laptops this SONY VAIO SVE14A390 camera capture is very bad and it is definetely product malfunction defect.

    On several Windows 7 systems, including newly-installed ones, I have noticed that thescheduled task that Uploads CEIP (Customer Experience Improvement Program) data fails much more often that it succeeds. For example, on one system, the only
    recent successful instances of this task were on 2011-01-06 and 2010-12-23.
    The failures generate Event 1008 in the Application log, and reference error 80004005 (unspecified error) or 90080108 (I can't find a description of this error).
    The followingtopic from about a year agotitled Event ID 1008 - Error 80004005(http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproinstall/thread/498ba27a-39b7-44ee-afb4-c61b297dcd0a/)
    raises this subject. The response by Dale Qiao links to the following TechNet article
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc774625(WS.10).aspx, which states This failure has no adverse effects on other parts of the operating system, and no action is required
    of users. This suggests that Event 1008 is expected behavior.
    However, this TechNet article was published 2008-06-06, applies to Windows Server 2008, and Event 1008 is a Warning level event. In Windows 7 it is an Error level event.
    Can anyone confirm that persistent occurrence of Event 1008 in Windows 7 is expected behavior? Or if it is not expected behavior, how to fix?

    Oh really? If Microsoft has no Customer Experience Improvement Program in place, then you really should disable the service and or remove the service with a windows update rather than let end users event logs fill up with needless critical error messages.
    I for one, take any critical error in the event logs as a call for action. Expending a quarter to half an hour searching for a solution for this error only to find that this error is expected
    behavior and the fix is to ignore it is a cop out. I have seen this very response on too many critical event log messages from Microsoft. Placing needless false errors in the event log is like calling wolf. You do this too many times, and the seriousness
    of the issue is lost.
    Allowing false errors to appear in the event logs is a waste of my time and in my books, is a grievous offense. Multiply this by who knows how many system administrators who also waste their time on this and other similar false positives, and the wasted
    time becomes a serious squandering of your customers money as we sysops do not work for free. This has got to stop or these inappropriate product behavior issues (false error messages) and the laissez-faire attitude of Microsoft Support will be your downfall.

    Any ideas on how to remove Help Make Communicator Better Give Us Feedback Online from the Notifications area in Communicator 2007 R2?
    I didn't see this in the OCS GPO adm where I expected it to be or within OCS admin tool. Are there reg keys we could set via GPP that would do the trick? I checked but didn't see any . . .
    Also, under under Tools - Options - General - there is a checkbox under the Quality section, there is Allow Microsoft to collect information about how I use Communicator - possibly related to the help make communicator better setting - regardless, would like to disable all.
    I'd rather not have our users participating in either the Feedback Program nor the Customer Experience Improvement Program.

    I was able to suppress the two notices by modifying the below registry keys. Once I identified the keys, I applied the settings using registry preferences under GPO User Configuration.

    I'm currently deploying Office 2013 Professional via Configuration Manager 2012 R2. When i first start an office 2013 appliation i get the Welcome Movie. I found out that i can disable this via the following gpo:
    Microsoft Office 2013\First Run\Disable First Run Movie: Enabled
    The GPO is getting applied (checked via gpresult), but the Movie is still getting displayed on first run. I found a few other posts about this which mentioned some more gpo's which i also set:
    Automatically receive small updates to improve reliability = Disabled
    Enable Customer Experience Improvement Program = Disabled
    Enable Customer Experience Improvement Program = Disabled
    Send Office Feedback = Disabled
    Disable the Office Start screen for all Office applications = Disabled
    I even tried to set this setting in the Office Customization Tool, but that also didn't work...
    Do i miss something?

    Whenever I try to open up Word, Powerpoint, or Excel on my macbook air, the Microsoft Office Setup Assistant pops up and asks me if i would like to like to give feedback for the Customer Experience Improvement Program. Regardless of whether I choose
    to decline or accept, it brings me to a "Get Started" menu from which the only option is to click "Finish" which brings up Microsoft AutoUpdate. Regardless of whether I update or not, the program i chose to open never opens up. When I try to re-open the program,
    setup assistant pops up again and the cycle continues. How do i get it to stop that?

    I have Windows 7 sp1 on an HP Pavilion p6-2037 desk top. I agreed to participate in CEIP.
    The task scheduler starts CEIP and the information is collected successfully, but the upload always fails with this error message in the event viewer "Event id 1008 - A problem prevented Customer Experience Improvement Program data from being sent to
    Microsoft.”
    However when I go to Task Scheduler it lists the upload task as completed successfully.
    What’s up with that?

    DB:2.28:Windows 7 Media Center And Xbox 360 Connection Failure 3m


    Hi,
    I am running windows 7 home premium with media center as a HTPC and I have an xbox 360 as an extender. I occasionally get connection failure error message on the xbox while watching(streaming) tv. Everytime this happens my PC event viewer logs the following
    messages:
    Event ID 7002 - User Logoff Notification for Customer Experience Improvement Program.
    Event ID 7036 - The Windows Media Center Scheduler Sevice entered the stopped state.
    Event ID 7001 - User Logon Notification for Customer Experience Improvement Program.
    Event ID 7036 - The Windows Media Center Scheduler Service entered the running state.
    After all these messages the xbox is able to reconnect automatically.
    Can you please advise why this is happening and why my xbox gets disconnected?

    I tried disabling it using the below registry key. But some how i still see the pop-up

    According to your description, personally, there's not a supported way to do this. If you change or remove the CustomerFeedback key in the registry at the location:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\110, perhaps it will cause Setup
    to fail or others. So I recommend you not to remove the registry key.

    On one of my latptops i have a task within the Task Schedulercalled SqmUpload_S-1-5-21-2020070501-2489493450-1283459674-1003 it's stored in the WPD folder and has the following description.
    This task uploads Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) data for Portable Devices
    I would like to understand what application / service enables this Task, when i delete it , it gets automatically recreated. I have configured this laptop to not participate in the CEIP (Customer Experience Improvement Program).

    I'm glad Sir Nite Owl got it all sorted out too, because after poking around the Net all nitetrying to find a fix for this issue, quite frankly I have to tell Ya, there's not a lot out there pertaining to the (80004005) error with regards to
    installing the (.NET Framework 4.5.1)update although I'm seeing the same error with the same updateas Sir
    Nite Owl, there is one difference between his scenario mine(but it's a big one). In that, while Sir Nite Owl's on a 'WHS 2011' machine, I'm on a Vista Home Premium SPI(86) laptop that's fully updated(well all except for the .NET FW 4.5.1
    update).

    I've tried the Microsoft Auto-Fix(MicrosoftFixit.wu.MATSKB.Run), as well as restarting my PC the download install of (KB2858725)update .Net Framework 4.5.1 but thee outcome is always the same.
    I've attached a copy of the error message from the failed update below, because although Sir Nite Owls 12 steps to recovery sound simple enough, I don't think I(Vista) has the same options settings used in his aforementionedwork-around.

I wanted to broach the topic with the associate I spoke with but found that I could not obtain an email or phone number to pick up where I left off.

    So what I purpose is simple. Sony, send out a followup email to your customers that checks to see if they have any other questions or concerns. Some reasons why:
    It's great customer support, myself being a perfect example.It's good business. What if I wanted to buy a product to replace my broken one but wanted to ask for more information?It's responsible business. Let your customers know that even if their product is woefully out of warranty you still care that they purchased from you. Because you should still care, that leads to good business.It's an effective measure to observe employee efficiency. If there are less questions then perhaps this suggests that employees are very good at handling things.It teaches improvement. When there are other concerns this is not something to be scolded for, it is an opportunity for improvement. If an area is lacking and lots of questions being asked about it, then you know and can address it.Most importantly, it is great data. Why throw away data? Especially now in a tech era data is an incredible asset that is given freely so a responsible company like Google, or Sony... ahem, can use this to improve their own business experience for their customers.

    As a matter of course, and policy, and because I deal with very sensitive information, I never opt into any program that collects usage data and transmits it to another party. I never gave my consent toor opted into the Windows Customer Experience Improvement
    Program, but Consolidator is and has been running every 19 hours, since November 5, and I very clearly remember not giving my consent for same.

    I am tryingto install SP1 on a server Ihave taken over. It hostsActive directory andsome SQL stuff. I have an issue when I try to install SP1on the serverwherei get an error 0x8007000d.
    loooking all over the net on how to fix this and have done the following.
    1. disabled antivirus
    2. renamed the software distribution folder and tried to reinstall
    3. ran SFC came back with no errors.
    4. ran the readiness tool and it comes back with the following in the checksur.log file

    I had to restore my system from a backup for WHS 2011 and all works well, although I get the Error 80004005 message every day stating; A problem prevented Customer Experience Improvement Program data from being sent to Microsoft, (Error 80004005).
    My system has been working well for a couple of weeks, but I get the message shown above.

    I even reinstalled the system from scratch and made a backup with all updates 120 before starting the setup. Again everything works well accept I get the error message above daily after the 2nd day. Would like to get this resolved even though
    it is not negatively impacting my server functions.
    If Microsoft would like to access my server, send me an email and I will give the specifics to do so.

    This error means that the uploading process of the CEIP data from your WHS to the Microsoft servers has failed. Maybe a firewall issue?
    As there wont be another WHS it is safe to assume that Microsoft no longer needs your CEIP data. Simply disable the CEIP tasks (Task Scheduler Library - Microsoft - Windows - Customer Experience Improvement Program)

    about problems you might have with Windows. The information collected is not used to identify or contact you.

    Windows 7 Privacy Statement - Microsoft Windows

    This will show you how to join or unjoin the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) in Windows 7.

    1. Open the Start Menu, then copy and paste Change Customer Experience Improvement Program in the search box and press enter.

    A) Go to step 3 or 4.
    OR

    2. Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click on the
    Action Center icon.
    A) Click on the Change Action Center Settings link in the left pane. (see screenshot below)

    B) Click on the Change Customer Experience Improvement Program link. (see screenshot below)

    C) Close the Change Action Center Settings window.
    3. To Join the Customer Experience Improvement Program

    A) Select (dot) Yes, I want to participate in the program, and click on the

    Hi,
    I have a Windows 2008 R2 server running Remote Desktop services and configured with Mandatory Profiles. Its all working well except when our users attempt to logon to the server for the first time each day. They get an error:
    The Group Policy Client service failed the logon.
    Access is denied.
    If they immediately try to log in again, they are granted access, the mandatory profile loads, no problems.
    But two 512 KB files appear and remain in their home directory that look like this:
    NTUSER.MAN{016888bd-6c6f-11de-8d1d-001e0bcde3ec}.TMContainer00000000000000000001.regtrans-ms
    NTUSER.MAN{016888bd-6c6f-11de-8d1d-001e0bcde3ec}.TMContainer00000000000000000002.regtrans-ms
    So their profiles increase in size at a rate of at least 1 MB / day.
    Their failed logon attempts create the following event ids in the Application log:
    6004 -The winlogon notification subscriber GPClient failed a critical notification event.
    1542 - Windows cannot load classes registry file.
    DETAIL - The system cannot find the file specified.
    6001 -The winlogon notification subscriber Sens failed a notification event.
    In the Security event log I can see 6 Success events for logon, followed by a brief pause (for the user to click ok) and then 6 success events for logoff.
    In the System event log, Winlogon reports:
    7001 - User Logon Notification for Customer Experience Improvement Program
    7001 - User Logoff Notification for Customer Experience Improvement Program
    CEIP is disabled, btw.
    If I delete the users profile through Advanced System Settings. They can log in again just fine, but the next day, they'll fail their first login and their profile will grow.

    Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot?

    Both good ideas but neither wass the solution.
    Shortly after this, the server started showing other symptoms. If a user disconnected (but didn't log out) they were unable to reconnect. And if a user tried to log out, it would hang their session and hold it open and disconnected. The error messages were
    similar to behavior described here:

    So I applied the hotfix. Now, I can't categorically say this did fix it and I can't categorically say it didn't. But the problem has gone away after applying it :)
    I had tried rebooting and numerous other things (including recreating the mandatory profile) before applying this fix and none of those seemed to have much effect. So I'm quietly confident the fix above also resolved the issue.

    Go to Tools-Options and in the Options Dialog go to Debugging-Symbols. Under Symbol file (.pdb) locations there should be another edit box named Cache symbols in this directory. Have you filled this in? This must contain a valid path to save the
    symbol files to otherwise it will do what you have described.

    Ok I have changed the folder location of symbols, from default temporary folder to new folder created by myself. Now the symbol are in my HD, and I have not go download it always. Thank you

    Description:An issue related to the Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP is also known as SQM) in the Windows 7 Beta is causing crashes of Explorer, MSI-based installers, and other applications on some PC's.  In order to resolve the issue, impacted customers need to run the following command from an elevated command prompt. This procedure will permanently stop crashes related to CEIP. A machine not currently affected by this problem will work fine and new installations of Windows 7 Beta are also not affected.
     
    Background:
    Microsoft deployed a configuration change which exposed this problem. The procedure provided below removes those changes (registry keys) to prevent further CEIP related crashes.Detailed instructions:

    Ok, thenI found the download at the Microsoft Download Center and save it to the desktop. When I open it up,I get another error message saying I don't have permission to update Windows.

    I see that you have already run Checksur tool on the computer and the logs seem to indicate that there are no related errors.

    Since this is the only update failing to install I suggest that you download this updated from the Microsoft Download Centre and save it. Here is a link to download the update:

    Once you have downloaded the update, you can boot your computer to Safe Mode and go about installing it. Here are the steps to boot the computer to ‘Safe Mode’:

    How to boot your system into Safe Mode…

    1. Restart your computer if it is powered on.
    2. Tap the F8 key after your computer initially powers on.
    3. Once you see the Advanced Boot Options menu you can stop tapping.
    4. Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
    5. Select Safe Mode with Networking and press
    Enter.
    6. You should see drivers loading, and then Please wait.
    7. You should then be at the Welcome Screen.
    8. Logon to your computer using an account with Administrator privileges.

    DB:2.26:I Accidentally Deleted A Ceip Task From Computer Management md



    I was browsing the scheduled tasks in Computer Management and I accidentally deleted a Ceip task. If I navigate to "System Tools Task Scheduler Task Scheduler Library Microsoft Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program" I see two
    tasks. Consolidator and UsbCeip.
    I have a feeling that this task wasn't terribly important, so I'm asking for advice on what steps I should take now.

    Deleting that task would not affect the computer, However if you want it back you can try System Restoreto a point before you deleted the task.
    Before you start System Restore, save any open files and close all programs. Once you confirm your restore point, System Restore restarts your computer.
    To open System Restore, follow the steps below:
    a. Open System Restore by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type System Restore, and then, in the list of results, click System Restore.‍ =

    DB:2.24:Sony Vaio Z - Performance Improvement With Docking Station ks


    Hello,

    I recently purchased the sony vaio z with docking station, and have noticed that the graphics performance decreases when the docking station is attached. On the Windows Experience Index - I have a 6.5 rating for graphics when using the Intel 4000 integrated graphics, and a 6.0 with the ATI 7000series graphics card. Is this right? Is there a setting I should change to correct this? I believe the ATI graphics card is better than the Intel integrated graphics.

    It is already set on 'accelerate notebook displays'. I actually went into the vaio care controls and changed the settings for the cooling fan control from 'balanced' to 'priority to ventilation'. Then I reran the assessment and got 6.8 rating, too.

    That's not much of an improvement over the integrated graphics. Maybe I can update the graphics card in the docking station in the future....

    I have uninstalled the old clients.
    Installation of R2 client for outlook 2010completed without any error in GUI mode.
    when i open the outlook 2010 , i found only group management buttons appearing.
    Approve/reject button is missing.
    Setup log , says EBUG: Error 2827: The button Join the Customer Experience Improvement Program on the radiobutton group SQMOptionsBtnGroup on dialog ILMSQMDlg extends beyond the boundaries of the group to the right by 54 pixels
    The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2827. The arguments are: ILMSQMDlg, SQMOptionsBtnGroup, Join the Customer Experience Improvement Program
    I have tried , unzipping and installing client from the scratch ,but still same error and approval Approve/Reject buttons in approval mail are missing.

    I have a server running Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise. I would like to have a specific user account to always be logged in. Unfortunately this server always logs this user account off (I would say it logs the user off once a week). I
    viewed the event logs and the only entry I see that appears to be related to logging off is the Event ID 7002. User Logoff Notification for Customer Experience Improvement Program). Also Event ID 7001. User Logon Notification for customer
    Experience Improvement Program. I have actually researched this message online for some time now and adjusted several settings. It seems to still happen? Do you know of any other reasons for a server logging off constantly? If in fact
    this Customer Experience Improvement is the reason for the log offs is there any way to officially disable this for once and for all? I have tried everything.

    Please, any assistance will be appreciated.

    My laptop keeps slowing down to the point it is unusable. If I leave it for a while, it then returns to active service. There seems to be no pattern to the problem - there are no scheduled events that could be the cause. It has 1GB of memory and a hard drive that is around 30% full. It worked fine in XP - the problem came when I wiped and installed Windows 7. There are three very persistent errors in the Event Log. I have Googled all three with no success at all. I've posted the three separately here, on the basis they are different errors and someone may recognise one and know a fix.     Thank you. I think I've fixed all three problems now. This one I cured by turning off the CEIP. It was filling the Event Log with yellow triangles so I doubt it was achieving anything anyway.

    Note I did not say the CEIP dialog is displayed.  The first time our
    iso shell app is run using the iso shell redist (NOT with the VS SDK),
    the VS icon is shown in the system tray.  You can click on it and get
    the CEIP diaog, but it does not open automatically.
    For whatever reason, it only seems to show the first time the app is used.

    I tried your suggestion about ProcessMonitor.  Maybe because I am a newbie with the tool, but it seemed like it outputs a TON of file/registry info, even using a filter for the app.  There were some entries that seemed more obvious than others, like SQM and SQMClient - from my internet search, seems SQM is the internal name for CEIP.But I didn't conclusively find the entry.

    This shows in my system tray despite answering 'No'.

    When I click Help | Customer Feedback Options and press 'No' and OK it doesn't go away.

    I actually wouldn't mind if it just didn't create any entry in the system tray!

    Please can someone help me get rid of this.

    It should be classed as spyware as I have no way of getting rid of it and I didn't choose to install it.

    Hi.
    Frankly, due to the verbose and useless nature of the moss logs, i nearly turn them off.

    In a production environment, i setup the logs on a
    separate disk (so if a timer goes mad, it won't saturate a data disk and crash the farm)
    be warned that in the medium settings, you might have several Gigs/hour of logs if there are sync problems.

    IF there is an incident, i use windows (or sql) event logs, almost never the moss logs. IF i have to, it's a bad sign (clueless) or a pure application problem. So i set All categories to Warning, High

    Of course, that doesnt prevent setting a specific category to verbose if you want to really trace a problem, but it should be done for a short period of time.

    edit: never, ever, put a production environment on verbose on a regular basis :)
    wasted space and performance at best.

About 90% of the time I login remotely using RDC, I get event 11 in the System Event log, The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\DR2.. The system is a Dell T7400 Workstation, with a SAS 6/IR RAID controller. 4 Hitachi 1 TB disks are paired off as two RAID 1 drives. I have: 1. Updated the firmware and driver for the RAID controller to the latest 2. Used driveragent to confirm all drivers are latest 3. Ran disk diags (no errors found) 4. Ran SMART monitoring (no errors found) 5. I actually disabled Customer Experience Improvement Program service as it as showing up in the event log the same time The only other event logs in System at the time of login are Applicaiton Experience service entered the running state and User Logon Notification for Customer Experience Improvement Program (which I don't think is running!) Any ideas? I am beginning to thin this is a software glitch in something and the disks/RAID controller are fine. Thanks!

    All,

    As I have mention to Zer0K3wL2, I am working to root causing the shut down issue. Once we can pinpoint the issue we can then look at the solution type for this issue.

    For Jelly Bean release for Xperia tablet, it will be sometime end of april or the following month. There is nothing I can do to bring that in any closer.

    I mention that people should not use profanity on this community because there are children who come to this community and it would be a bad experience for kids to see those type of language on the community.

    I have no problem with people venting their frustration and issue. I am here to try to solve those issue.

    I'll update everyone once we are closer to understanding the root cause of this issue.

    The pop up won't go away and I can't access any Office programs. I used the Migration Assistant to install the program on my Mac Mini (OS X 10.7.3) from my MacBook (OS X 10.6.8). How can I get through the set up?

    It's not clear from what you said whether you are being blocked from using the applications by the setup assistant, or what options the setup assistant is offering to you.

    If you are able to launch an Office application, the first thing I would try is going to the Help menu and choosing Check for Updates. See if there are updates available for your software, and if so, install the updates.
