    Recently called Comcast's 800 number and was advised that DVR Manager is now available in my area but that I needed a new DVR to use the service. One of your techs came out to my home this morning and installed the new DVR (a Cisco RNG200N and a $50 service call), but DVR Manager is still unavailable to me. When I access my account on-line DVR Manager comes up with the following message " DVR Manager is available in your area. However, we are unable to detect a compatible DVR in your household.". By the same token when I use the Infinity App on my iPhone or iPad I get the message "No eligible TVs". Help!!

    It would be extremely doubful these days with so many expensive DVR's and settop boxesin place to pull everything out and replace it. In the 80's 90's they used to when boxes were cheap, but it would be rare especially in a large system.

    I could seethem doing it in a small system that they would shut down the existing SA headend and tie the system to a nearby Moto headend, but there are not many area's that can be done with. The larger the system, the less chance of it ever happening.

    Most major MSO's run both brands of equipment in different areas.

    You would never seen an official answer from Comcast on major equipment changes. Comcast is concentrating on getting the new features on the SA systems, it's easier and cheaper the change the software than the hardware.

    thats weird, it should not do that. try unplugging it to reset it that will rebuild the database and might restore the shows.

    I have a MotorolaDCH3416R DVR and when I try to use it today I get the "DVR Service Unavailable" message. I called Comcast customer service to see if they could fix it, they reset the cable box but it still didn't work. The customer service rep then attempted to tell me that it would be $40 to have a technician come out and fix it AND THEN proceeded to try and sell me additional services! Please tell me there's a better way to fix this, as I've been a loyal customer for years but am seriously considering ATT or Verizon for my TV needs.

    My DVR service is also "unavailable." I spent quite a while on the phone with tech support yesterdy trying various remedies without success and was told to go down and get a new box, which I did this morning. I have everything set up, but I got the same blue notification message on the TV: "DVR service unavailable." On Demand works just fine. I am trying to "activate" my devices on line, and Comcast has been looking for my devices for an hour or so, also without success. I did spend more time online with tech earlier today. Obviously no success there either.

    Unless, someone has ideas, I suppose I have to request a service call, and I will be very upset if there's charge because the problem doesn't seem to be at my end.

    It was resolved afterI spent quite a bit of time fiddling around with computer, TV, and DVR myself. I cancelled a service call after the problem was partially solved when the service technician agreed with me that the problem was with your software rather than with my hardware or due to incompetence on my part. Things were not synching between my various devices, but the issue seems finally to be under control, at least for the moment.

    I had received a letter from Comcast stating that there was a problem with my billing on myDVR and I needed to call before July 19 to resolve the issue.

    It is not yet that date, but my DVR has totally disapppeared. When I hit the button for my DVR, I get the following message: "DVR service unavailable or disabled. Please call Xfinity Support".

    I called the support line yesterday and was told I would get a phone call back between 1 1/2 hours and 2 hours later. I never got a phone call back.

    What is your DVR? If there is a cablecard in it you will be paying a small monthly fee to Comcast for the card. There may be a fee for the guide if it's a TiVo, but that goes to TiVo.

    One week ago I had Anyroom DVR installed. Since the install, the Primary box works fine, the secondary box will not allow access to DVR. Keep getting message DVR Service is unavailable. Three techs have checked house wiring, wiring is fine. The primary DVR was replaced twice, the secondary replaced three times, the problem still exists. I have powered down and up these boxes multiple times, problem remains. I have talked to four different customer service reps, problem still remains. It appears to me that within the Comcast network, something is not configured properly. Since Comcast can't seem to figure out this problem, I would appreciate any help.

    I am having a very similar problem. I was installed a little over a week ago. After 2 techs being at my home. My Anyroom DVR terminal still doesn't and has never communicated with the hub. They have switched out the the DVR and terminal boxes, and escalated to MIS. I was told MIS corrected the problem yesterday. I unplugged both units, brought the DVR up first, then the terminal and it still gives me the DVR Service Unavailable on the terminal box. Now my standalone DVR is locking up, this problem started after the tech was here on Saturday. I've left messages for both the tech from Saturday and his supervisor.

    Shaw has a warning that series recordings maybe removed. The last time Shaw did the reset for me, The series recordings remained. It also removes the settings, The guide resets the same as I already mentioned.

    Even Shaw suggest doing my reset as it is called a hard reset first.

    Like I said, do the hard reset first, If that doesn't work and there will be times where it won't work. Then do the Shaw Tech reset.

    My oldHD DVR Set Top stoppedworking last week. My wife called Comcast and held for almost an hour to get a new one ordered and it took 5 days to get it.     It sounds like that box can not establish upstream communication. That's why OnDemand doesn't work. It may also lock itself up or restrict to Limited Basic after awhile if it can't verify it's stored authorization information.

    Unplug the DVR's power, give it a minute and power it up again. That will rebuild the database for the shows stored on the drive.

    The newest DVR's need a authorization signal from the system to keep the DVR function working. If the DVR doesn't receive that signal then your error message comes up on the screen.

    These are normally the Moto DCX series DVR's (the black DVR). You state you have a silver DVR but didn't share the model.

    You should contact Comcast support to determine if your having a signal issue, an authorization issue or the DVR has an issue. It can also be an issue on your account.

    Apologies for the issue that you described above. It can take some time (shouldn’t take more than an hour) for the DVR access and the DVR menus to be available after a power disruption.

    Yes, most likely the hard drive died, just like a computer's hard drive dies or it's the internal power supply. You can take the DVR and remote to your local Comcast office for a swap.

    First, try pulling the plug, wait a minute, then plug it back in. Listen carefully and see if you can hear the hard drive spin up. It's possible it died and the DVR portion disabled itself.

    Otherwise, just call your regular service number. Those on-screen numbers are not always accurate.

    I am a little confused. You posted your post under the my dvr manager thread which is for managing your dvr over the internet. If you are just talking about your physical hardware, you should unplug it wait two minutes and plug it back in. If that does now work take the box back and swap for a new one

    Power cycle the DVR, unplug the power for a minute, wait a minute and power up the DVR. Give it 5 or 10 minutes for everything to reload and the database of the recordings to rebuild.

    Otherwise the drive on the DVR might be failing and the DVR should be exchanged at the local Comcast office, bring the remote with.

    My DVR is acting up. I have 84% of it full, but today when I went to watch something I recorded, I'm told DVR service is unavailable or not enabled. I recorded stuff last night, so I know it was working. If I power off and power back on, I get a list of my recordings and actually start watching, but after about 5 mins, it freezes and then takes a few minutes to bring back the same message of being unavailable. I've talked with two Comcast techs, but they weren't any help. Their only solution is to have a tech come to my house. All that tech will do is say I need to switch the box out.     Latest is yesterday I was sure I scheduled a recording (I always double check since I have OCD tendencies) and when I looked it wasn't there. I don't see it on the DVR history either. The stupid thing is there are no more showings of this movie so I had to rely on the internet and go to a site with loads of pop ups for this movie. This is why I watch shows on the TV so I don't have to worry about problems on the internet.

    It's Comcast's fault if I end up getting a virus. Yeah I could pay 14.99 but I'm not paying that money for their mistake.

    I see that there was a system update to the boxes last night, as my onscreen guide is all "To Be Announced"-y, but I get an error message when I press My DVR and select My Recordings: "DVR service is not available or is currently disabled." My DVR features when watching a live TV (rewinding, pausing, etc.) do not seem to be working, either. The update happened around 2am, and it's now 8am. I don't recall this happening before. Any ideas?

    Update: I took a chance and unplugged the box and plugged it back in. My recordings are there when I press My DVR, so yay! I guess I need to wait for the box to fully "come back" before the other DVR options (menu, etc.) return too, since it went straight to my list of recordings rather than the DVR menu. Weird box. Silly company.

    It isn't unusual to see that message following recovery from a power interruption, but it should resolve itself within a few minutes. If the problem persists, call 1-800-COMCAST.

    Try power cycling the box first, unplug for two minutes, then power it up again. It will take some time for the guide data to re-populate. Give it a try.

    The DVR feature can be disabled by the billing system or codes on your account, so if it doesn't restore the DVR function, you will need to call Comcast support.

    Hi,

    I was having the same problem, where one box worked fine and the other one did not. I found that the coaxial cable going to the room where the set top box was located was going through a splitter and prevented the proper signal from reaching the box. If you have a splitter try by-passing the splitter and hook your cable directly to the main cable before the splitter. Then go to the Comcast web site sign in and try setting up your box again. Note remove the coaxial cable from the box you have no problem with to avoid possible mistake in what box is being set-up. Good luck hope this works for you. Comcast was not able to tell me what to do, and wanted to charge for a service call so I trouble shot it myself.

    On Saturday, April 6th I traded my digital cable box for my first DVR (Motorola). It took three calls to Comcast just to get the cable channels back. It wasn't until Sunday night that I finally tried the My DVR button and what I got was the "DVR Service Unavailable. DVR service is not available or is currently disabled" message. I have now called Comcast 10 times in 4 days for a total of 101 minutes on my cell phone. I have unplugged it and plugged it back in repeatedly. I've lost count of how many times it has been power cycled or had a signal sent to it and still, not one person has been able to fix what I suspect is a pretty simple problem or even hint at what the problem might be. To say that I'm frustrated would be a very sweet sentiment compared to how I really feel right now. Help!

    I was doing some reading for work last night and literally power cycled for 2 hours straight. Eventually the DVR service started working again! Hooray! Then my power went out, and today I'm without DVR again. Awesome.

    The recommendation is to always leave the boxes on, as turning them off doesn't really turn them off, only the video output circuit gets turned off. Power savings between on and off is so small you can't hardly measure it.

    I had the same problem after swapping out a malfunctioning DVR. Turns out that while the box was authorized, it was not specfically authorized for DVR service. i worked for several hours with an online support tech who could not figure the problem out.I brought it back to the service center and they were able to find the problem in just a few minutes.

    I have never had much luck getting problems resolved by the online or telephone support service.

    Had to replace malfunctioning SA box and they gave a RNG 200. Nothing but problems 1) can only schedule one recording in a single time slot. Attempt to schedule 2nd recording generates Schedule Conflict. 2) recording single recording - can't watch another live program 3) when selecting MyDVR, then My Recordings, get "DVR SERVICE UNAVAILABLE. DVR Service is not available or currently disabled. 2 hours with online support was no help at all. Kept resetting the unit and reading the manual to me. Gave up and will take the box back today. This looks like a DVR authorization issue to me, not a hardware problem.

    I came home and my dvr box had a 0 on the front. I had left it on when I left. It eventually came back on. I went to record a program it now says "set a vcr recording" instead of "set a dvr recording". When I click on the "my dvr" button it says "dvr service unavailable". Anyone else having same problem today? I also can't rewind a program during recording or change the channel without stopping the recording. I can only record one program at a time.

    P.S. I've tried about 7 times to call Comcast and the phone system is screwed up. I get to a message that says "please hold for a customer account rep". Then the menu starts over with "Thank you for calling Comcast" and it verifies my number again. I'm in a loop and no one answers.

    On Tuesday evening, December 13, 2014, while watching a previously recorded program, my DVR performed an uncommanded, at least by me, reboot. After the reboot, all recorded programs (56) on my DVR were deleted. Since that time, my DVR no longer records programs, and I receive intermittent messages that "DVR service is unavailable". I called Xfinity on Thursday, December 15, 2014, and the customer service rep performed a DVR reboot. The reboot did not solve the problem. The DVR will not record even though the record icon is displayed on the program guide. I have seen other posts on this forum regarding this problem. Are there any solutions, or do I have to replace the DVR box?

    Yesterday I was watching something On Demand, stopped in before it was over, and then when it returned to regular TV, an error message kept popping up saying Your request can not be processed (even though I wasn't trying anything). So I turned off and reset the box. Everuthit came back fine except for my DVR recordings.     I have 3 HD/DVR cable boxes in my houes. Recently 2 out of the 3 boxes have started to just reboot out of nowhere on there own. 1 of these boxes now starts the reboot process, never finishes, and just reboots again over and over.

    The one box that reboots on its own and still works for a while before this happens again, the DVR service isnt working. I can access the DVR menu but when trying to access any shows i have recorded, or try and record anything i get the message "DVR service is unavailable or currently disabled".

    I have not made any service changes, and have not moved boxes around to other TV's.

    Are these 2 boxes starting to fail and need to be replaced or is this something that can be corrected by telephone staff?

    Anybody else ever experience these issues?

    Comcast does not call people back, they say that to get you off the phone.

    You either have a poor signal, or the box is not coded correctly to your account.

    Even though it is nearly impossible to get through on the phone, try calling and insist they add the box to your account. If that does not work, get a service call.

    Pay per view is a different animal. It could be your service(RG or line) or the line from the RG to the STB or the STB.

    The recording problem could be the line from the RG to STB or the STB.

    I keep running into this issue where my DVR box will be working fine before I go to bed, but the next morning I'll try to access my recorded shows and a I get a popup box saying that my DVR service is unavailable or has been disabled.

    I can eventually get into my recorded shows and other DVR options restored if I unplug the DVR from the power outlet, or if I press My DVR on my remote and go to Manage DVR and then select Setup DVR. Doing that will cause the DVR box to go nuts and crash/reset, and might restore my DVR functions.

    When the DVR function is restored, my recorded show or scheduled records are still there (thankfully).

    Does anyone have any idea what's going on. Is this an indication that my DVR box is going to fail completely? Is Comcast sending a signal to disable my DVR service by accident?

    Note that this issue only occurs with my DCX3400. The DCT3416 I does not have this issue.

    We have one main DVR and one anyroom receiver. The main DVR works just fine. The anyroom receiver constantly shuts off on its own, resets itself when it's turned on, says the DVR service is unavailable or that the HD service is unavailable. Once the box is reset by Comcast or reset by unplugging and plugging it back in....it works just fine. We leave the box on every night, and it either turns off during the night, or it gives us the "to be announced" message on every channel and the HD and DVR service don't work. This has been going on for over a month. Techs have been out here way too many times....and they can't fix the problem.

    The box and cables have been replaced, a splitter was replaced, the faceplate was replaced, two wires in the wall were switched....nothing is fixing the problem.

    Just wondering if anyone has had this problem, or if anyone has suggestions to fix this problem.

    Are you saying you have the anyroom dvr system? Not a dvr and a anyroom dvr correct, because you can't have both. If you are talking just anyroom with one receiver then I would take the slave box back to comcast for an exchange. to be announced means the guide has not loaded the programming yet which sounds signal related.

    Right now compatible boxes are on Motorola equipped cable systems.

    Scientific Atlanta / Cisco equipped systems are being upgraded, and most should be done by the end of December. Both guide upgrades and backend work is necessary for these features to be available.

    Comcast will notify you as soon as your specific area is done. Some SA / Cisco area's can get these features now if the AnyRoom DVR is ordered.

    Start by unplugging all Uverse receivers, DVR and any set top boxes.

    At the RG, depress reset button on back for 20 seconds, all lights out, release.

    In about 5 minutes when broadband and service lights back to green, plug in DVR only... Allow time for reboot, after 5 minutes should have live TV and DVR functions (pause, play, rewind, record, fast forward, rewind). Then plug in each remaining receiver.

    CAUTION: this restore the RG to factory defaults, any custom programming made will need to be redone, includes custom SSID, password, DMZ or port forwarding, etc.

    Last night before I went to bed the dvr service worked fine. Got up this morning and I go to check my recordings and it says, " dvr service unavailable", "Dvr service is not available or is currently disabled, Please call your cable operator". I have a Motorola DCT3416 I. On the comcast dvr manager web site I can see what shows are to be recorded. I have reset the cable box once. Also when I try to pause or rewind live tv, nothing happens. The DVR option is not on the menu control either. Can anyone help.

    I have just recently returned to COMCAST and with the DVR all programs I record when I try to play give me the message: PROGRAM CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. This has happened to all of the programs I have recorded. What gives?

    Try power cycling the DVR as a first step. Unplug the AC power for two mintues, then power it up again. Give it time to fully load the apps and try to play your recordings.

    It it continues, then the DVR should be swapped out for another one.

    I'd say if you have to keep removing the power to access your recordings, you're doing what you can from your side. We can try a software reload from our side though, this might take care of it. Otherwise we'll probably want to have a tech come out.

    I'm having this same problem. I've tried power cycling several times but still two out of four of my remote boxes show that the main DRV is "Not Avaialble". However, the list of recordings is available. If i look at the details of one of the recordings it says "Your Main DVR may be unplugged". It's not. I use it every day. I've also tried power cycling the main DVR with no luck. Any other ideas?

    Comcast said the same thing.. They pushed the new software down to my DVR and still did not fix the problem. I am very disapointed at the service I'm receving just now. How can they not fix this on a call?

    I have three set top boxes and one DVR in my house. The DVR works fine for all functions. The 3 other boxes show the same message - "DVR Service is not available or is currently disabled. Please call....." whenever i try to access any recorded shows from the main DVR. Somehow the remote boxes are not communicating with the main DVR.

    The DVR is aMOTOROLA MORN200N. The other boxes are twoMOTOROLA MR150CNM and oneMOTOROLA MORN150N. These models are according to my online account equipment list.

    Any suggestions? And yes, i have unplugged the dvr and one set top box to see if it mattered. Same message. And the small set top boxes get all channels and function fine. They just don't access the DVR.

    To follow up .... I had a very nice Comcast tech rep named Larry contact me and arranged to have all my tv equipment (DVR and 3 receivers) upgraded to the X1 platform. All were installed and are working flawlessly so far. He also was to have a newer XB3 gateway delivered but the technician apparently didn't have any with him. I will follow up on this at some point.

    Just had the X1 system installed this weekend and have had mixed success with the AnyRoom DVR. I am always able to see the listing of recordings on the non-DVR boxes but it usually tells me that the DVR is unavailable and provides an error message of XRE-00119. If I login to the Gateway 2 and Disable and then Re-Enable the MoCA network then it works for a while but then stops. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    I think it is one of the pictures I upload, looks like Commiscope or are you speaking of the big splitter that was installed?_____________Everything looks good, in the last picture with the amp, which port is the 2 way splitter coming off of? And if you can, unplug all your boxes, plug in your DVR and let it boot all the way up and plug in the smaller boxes. Any idea on which of those ports of the amp your DVR is on?

    I can set up recordings on my two non-DVR STBs, but when I try to watch recordings on them, I get the message:

    I can watch them on the DVR just fine (and there are recordings there, so that isn't the problem).

    Is this common? How do I fix this?

    Not common but not unheard of. It normally means that the list is repopulating. If the RG, the non-DVR STB or the DVR box has lost power or rebooted, the list must fully populate before you see the list. It also may occur if any component has a loose connection.

    DVR Manager is expected to be available to all of our Scientific-Atlanta and Cisco branded DVRs by the end of the year. We have already started the site by site activation (DVR Manager requires some additional new guide software and some infrastructure to be activated).

    Start by power cycling the DVR, unplug the AC power to thebox for 2 minutes, then power it up again. Test in 15 minutes after everything is reloaded. Double check that all F connectors are snug at the back of the box, the TV outlets and any accessable splitters.

    The DVR needs to be connected to the TV outlet, and must receive the DVR authentication signal from the head end that you are authorized for DVR service. If your getting live TV then the box should also be getting the DVR authorization flag. If your having signal issues or On Demand is also broken, then the DVR signal won't come through either.

    If your live TV is working, then contact Comcast support so they can send the authorizations for the DVR to be enabled.

    If the liveTV is not working then there are other issues that need addressing, so Comcast support will need to be involved.

    Hi,

    I am having two problems that seem to have started some time after Hurricane Irene:

    1) On main TV, I am getting a scrolling horizontal band on all the channels, but most noticeable on HD channels. I have read in other places, that this may be caused by ungrounded/misgrounded cables entering the house. I also have an antenna hooked up and can get HD channels over the air. The scrolling line does not occur on the antenna input, for the same channel. Do I need to get a technician?

    2) On one of the DVR boxes, I am getting a message that the DVR service is not available...please contact....

    This is only happening on 1 of the 4 DVR boxes we have. Is this a problem with the box itself? I tried resetting the box, but it seems to cyle through some sequence of hex numbers on the front panel, and once it is done, I still can't access the DVR services.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I have a package that INCLUDES the cost of a DVR. Our DVR stopped working in June, so I went in person to exchange it after 2 calls to customer service failed to get it working again. Now our billing is showing an additional DVR charge. I again went into the office (too hard to converse with the foreign reps). Rep at first said couldn't do anything and I would have to contact sales people we got original contract from. He went on though to say he took off the DVR charge and would also be prorated back. I get home to find the DVR does not work, message says DVR service unavailable. He apparently completely removed the DVR from our account.

    I called customer service. Four customer service reps, 2 dropped calls, and 2 hours of my time later, it might finally be fixed thanks to Andrea. She got the DVR working, and, I will see if the charges are correct on our next bill.

    We will probably be going back to antenna, hulu/nexflix and a computer for a DVR when the contract is up in October. There are other choices and can save big money without so much frustration.

    I am having the same problem! You would think they would know if their DVR service went down. I have called twice already. They were out to my house yesterday switching out my modem and exchanging one of my two DVRs for an HD box, now my remaining DVR is giving me this error. They have resent the signal twice and I have unplugged it and plugged it back in a few times. I will have to get them out to my house to troubleshoot in person or replace the box.

    Starting receiving "DVR service unavailable or disabled" error message 2 days ago on both DVR's.

    Rebooted both DVR's multiple times. Called comcast....rebooted with them multiple times and they checked signal....told it was OK. Cable works as does internet....just no DVR.     I recently ordered a RNG200N from Comast by mail. The activiation and tv channel is fine, but I can't seem to get the DVR working. I've called comcast serveral time and they tried senting signal and reseted the box serveral time but it is still showing the same message. I have been very fasturated since I can not be homeat the time during the hour the technican can come so I am hoping I can find an answer here. Thanks.
