    Hi

Is the Oracle Product Lifecycle Analyics integrated with OBIA? Cuurently the information that Oracle provides on PL Analytics is that the out of the box ETLs run on ODI, the out of the box rpd is seperate, the out of the box storage layer is called MDS and it has its own pre built canned reports and dashboards.

Is there a plan to integrate these to the current OBIA?

    Regards

    Kumar,

we discussed this several times already (Re: How to use BIA with ODI? for example).

In short: yes there is, but it's only for Oracle EBS sources. Plus, it's not a release intended for average users (hence the "limited availability" tag of the 7.9.5.2 release).

    Cheers,

DB:3.86:Financial Analytics Support For Subledger Accounting j1

An EBS customer has used Subledger accounting in their R12 implementation. Their question is whether the delivered OBIA Financial analytics is able to correctly extract and provide analytics on EBS if it makes use of SLA. The only relevant information I could find in the documentation was with regards to setting up the LEDGER session variable in the data security section. I am not sure if that is sufficient to provide an affirmative answer. Any further information available out there?

DB:3.86:Financial Analytics Support For Subledger Accounting j1

There's some stuff in the OBIA config manual which tells you how to drill to detail from GL Journals to AP/AR transactions using the GL Journal ID but that seems to the be limit of SLA capability...

    Hi,

Under what workload and data volume do we need clustered environments for Informatica and OBIEE in OBIA (10g).

    Regards,
    Roy

    DB:3.48:Obia Clustering kk

Cluster for OBIEE is before everything an question of high availability.

Here you can find the best document on OBIEE sizing rule of thumb:
    http://www.rittmanmead.com/files/6_BI_EE_Architectures_and_Sizing_Tony_Heljula.pdf

For PowerCenter Informatica, I never have worked on it but I think
you can take the characteristics of a database.
Op an database, it's around 200Mb/s per CPU core.
Other, you can always ask to your sales representative.

It depends of your use (with partition, with parallelism, ..) and specifications (how many megabyte .... )

    Cheers

Is it possible to use OBIA without EBS?

what is the use of EBS? do we really need EBS to study OBIA?

    DB:3.48:Obia Without Ebs? m8

Without a source system, your best option may be to use the Bic2Go image that Oracle provides..which is a VM image of all the BI products (including OBIA). I believe in the image, you have a actual OBIA setup with a Vision EBS DB. This image may also have a sample static .csv or .xml data set to show the dashboards/reports (since EBS Vision does not have sufficient data for all the OOTB content). You can get this VM form a oracle sales rep or possibly purchase it as well.

why do we need to un install informatica when we are upgrading from older version to V9.0.1? and more over why do we need to customize mappings again? for example 40% customization is done in current version and upgraded so as per your information, do we need to do 40% customiozation again? no we can't do it.

we upgrade and fix upgrade issues or customize a liitle if needed. it will apply to informatica, obiee, dac, bi publisher.

Hi Gurus,I need to know what is the process of installing OBIA 7964 on the Linux, I had already installed the OBIA 7964 on the windows. Can you please let me know what are the next steps to install the OBIA 7964 on the LINUX environment. The Linux environment is on OBIEE 11.1.1.6.10 and the Webcat is copied from the Production Environment which has OBIA 7963. The Informatica is on HotFix2 and DAC 11g. So everything is in place I need to know now:1.) How to implement the OBIA 7964 on the LINUX.2.) How to upgrade the Webcat so that the Dashboards show the version as 7.9.6.43.) Do I need to do anything on the RPD side. Thanks in Advance for the help.Rgds,Amit

DB:3.42:Installing Obia 7964 On Linux da

Hi,1. The installation for OBIA 7964 is same as OBIE 7963 except the version difference of the tools like OBIEE. Follow the standard installation document. it will be better. 2.No need to upgrade Webcatalog. you have to copy the catalog from 7963 server and paste in the location, deploy and restart all services then it will start working3. For RPD, copy the RPD from OBIA 7963 server. open the Admin tool in OBIA 7964 server and open the RPD(OBIA 7963 RPD) in the Admin too 7964 server and save it in the desired location(Desktop). Then the latest RPD is ready , you can deploy the RPD and start working with the 7964. Regards, Selvam.M

Is it possible to create a subquery/subrequest on OBIA?

    DB:3.42:Subqueries? mf

    Hi,

I think you were referring to OBIEE here as OBIA even sits on the same BI Server Engine. To answer your question, Yes, we can write a subquery in OBIEE. You could create one simple analysis in answers, grasp the logical sql and use it as a subquery in another analysis.

BI Logical SQL is ANSI SQL 92 compliant and hence, it supports most of the standard ANSI SQL formats.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

DB:3.41:Re: Mapping Parameters - How Are They Created And Managed In Obia? sk

    Hi Kiran,

In Informatica, the "SrcFiles" folder contains all the parameter files. If you are using out of the box OBIA implementation, then you will define the parameter in DAC. Some times it is defined as "Source System Parameters" (use Design view of DAC). At times this is also defined at the task level.

For Ex: for SIL_DayDimension, Start_date and End_Date are defined in task SIL_DayDimension in DAC.

I am not well versed in DAC, but from what I understand, each Informatica workflow task that DAC calls creates a parameter file in "SrcFiles" folder based on the DAC parameters set.. This parameter file (a txt file) is then used by informatica workflow.

In 7.9.6 (no project analytics), $$Category is not a parameter that I can see. must be new to 7.9.6.1 or specific to project analytics

    Good luck

    Edited by: user9953139 on Nov 18, 2009 11:23 AM

DB:3.41:Re: Mapping Parameters - How Are They Created And Managed In Obia? sk

Following steps will solve the issue,

    1. Find out if the value for $$Category is set correctly in DAC for the appropriate container under the appropriate task. For example, for EBS 11.5.10, select it as container in DAC, click over tasks, in the bottom pane - Parameters. Click over a specific task, then bottom pane- Parameters shows if $$Category is defined and initialized with default value. Same check has to be done for all code dimension related tasks.

    2. Goto Informatica Admin console, Click over Integration Service, and then Properties. At bottom, find custom properties, click over edit, add - overrideMpltVarWithMapVar = Yes property. Click OK. I had misspelled this the name of this property at the time of set up!!!!!! Loads of time wasted on typo error!!!!!

I ran a full data load (new one) all over again and all the error tasks (related to Code Dimension) ran successfully.

    Thanks,
    Kiran

This went on for about half an hour with 100% CPU utilization, mostly used by powershell processes and some by healthservice.exe.

Can anyone make heads or tails of these? Seriously, what could cause this mess in a fairly new install?

    1. SCE: 7.0.2432.1; all servers are Windows Server 2008 R2; I use SQL Server 2008 R2. Most managed computers are virtual.
    2. Nothing at all. I installed to a remote SQL Server, and added the VMM component later.
    3. AFAIK I can do anything I was able to before reinstalling SCE (operations and configuration management).
I also noticed that after maybe about half an hour, this behavior ceases and happens some hours later; I couldn't identify a more definite pattern yet.
Is there any way to check on what are the powershell processes doing? Tried procmon, but it simply cannot handle the load.

Hi GuysI'm new to both OBIA OBIEE and have a couple of basic questions about OBIA implementation. Seeking your help in clarifying them.1- Is it possible to install and configure OBIA(financial analytics) in an OBIEE environment(obiee+powercenter+dac) which was installed separately for other non-OBIA applications? 2- The installation document of OBIA 7.9.6.4 mentions the below about the mandatory OBIEE installion on windows:"Note: This instance of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition does not need to be the functional version that you will use to deploy dashboards inyour live system. This instance is only required to enable the Oracle BI Applications installer to install the Oracle BI Applications files on a machine. The functional versionof BI EE can be on any supported OS for BI EE (that is, it is not limited to Windows)."Does this mean once we finish the install configuration of OBIA, we can do away with this windows OBIEE after transferring necessary config files to the functional OBIEE environment? Or will it still have some components that will be required in daily "running"(not administration) of OBIA?I've been a oracle apps dba for 7 years but its first time with OBIA/OBIEE. Appreciate your help.RegardsSandeep

i want to keep in resume 0biee 11.1.1.6 which version of dac and obia i used for 11.1.1.6

    DB:3.22:Obia Versions 9c

    Hi,

you can see the Certification matrix for Oracle BI Applications 7.9.6.4 (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-applications/biapps7964cert-matrix-1891451.xls) and 7.9.6.3 (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi/obia7963cert-matrix-395521.xls)

    - OBIA 7.9.6.4 is certified with OBIEE 11.1.1.6.4+
    - OBIA 7.9.6.3 is certified with OBIEE 11.1.1.5+ and OBIEE 11.1.1.6+

So I think the best way for you is to ugrade your OBIEE version to 11.1.1.6.4 minimum and choose the OBIA version 7.9.6.4
With OBIA 7.9.6.4 the DAC version is 11.1.1.6.4 (new version of DAC with OBIA 7.9.6.4)

    Hope it helps,

    Benoit

We have a situation that we just discovered where our OBIA (version 7.9.5.1) is not compatible with Siebel Verion 8.1.1 running on Oracle Database 11g. However, it appears that it is compatible with Oracle Database 10g. We are well into our project and just discovered this. We are only leveraging the OBIA applications: Financial Sales Analytics and Marketing Analytics. Is anyone aware of the impact of leaving the OBIA and Siebel version out of sync? To give you some background, we have bene implementing this project for more than 2 yers and have 4 months before we go live and do not have time to do an update and cannot delay the implementation.

Here is the message from the OBIA 7.9.5.1 documentation: Not supported for Siebel CRM 8.1.1 running on Oracle 11g Database.

    Thanks...

DB:3.19:Siebel And Obia Version Impact fk

The technical upgrade is easy. Basically you just point the 8.6 installation to an 8.1 repository, and in the Admin Console you click on 'upgrade'.
As next step, which we are currently conducting, we check whether or not we have to change the logic of our copied workflows/mappings/mapplets to match the changed data model in source or target. This is the first time we are going to do this, in the past we always only upgraded the software, not the content.

    Hi Guys

    My requirement is as follows

    OBIA 7.9.6.3
    OBIEE 11.1.1.5
    DAC 10.1.3.4.1
    Informatica 9.0.1 Hofix 2
    Database 11G

I read the OBIA installation guide but i did not understand the topology.

Apreciated if any body can give me the quick response.

    Thanks

    DB:3.19:Obia Environment Setup a9

If you are trying to install dev you may consider simple setup as given below.

    1. DB Server
    2. Informatica server, DAC servers. Install informatica 1st n then DAC
    3. OBIEE server 1st, then OBIA

you can put 1-3 in 3 different machines or club them in to 1 or 2.

after you install servers install clients and import DAC, informatica repositories. you can find them in obia installation directory.

instructions you can find installation document.

for the RPD; use menu File - Compare - this will to get the differences between the original and the upgraded RPDfor the Catalog; not sure - but maybe use the reporting functionality in catalog manager - then compare the 2 files for differencesfor example, i have a report to list every presentation column used in every analysis on every page on every dashboard

    Hi Experts,

I want know about OBIA DAC, what is OBIA DAC and what is use of them.

    Thanks

    DB:3.12:What Is Obia &Amp; Dac? c8

OBIA (Oracle BI Applications) is a pre-packaged Datawarehouse solution from Oracle for many of the Oracle ERO systems (Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards..etc). The DAC (Datawarehouse Administration Console) is a component of the BI Applications that orchestrates the ETL load process. OBIA includes the DAC, OBIEE (which is the front end BI tool), and a set of pre-packaged ETLs (currently developed using Informatica). The DAC runs the Informatica ETLs, drops/recreates indexes, allows concurrent/parellel execution, and also determines the order of execution based on how it is configured.

You can do that just to familiarize yourself w the toolset. However, as per the OBIA licensing policy, you cannot use Informatica standalone to populate a NON OBIA DataWarehouse. If you intend of using Informatica that comes w OBIA in a enterprise environment, it must be used to load the OBIA DW.

Can anybody list the BI applications for EBS R12 release which supported in OBIA 7.9.6.3?

    Thanks
    Ram

DB:2.98:Bi Applications For Ebs R12 Release In Obia 7963 Release ks

That link does not work. I think what you are referring to is the OBIEE metadata installation..and yes, you can select which areas to install. This is unrelated to the actual Datawarehouse Tier (DAC/Informatica/DB). If you want, you can select whatever areas you want for the OBIEE tier or install everything (defauilt) and then later remove things you dont need. Either approach works. I prefer the second in case you have more areas you want to use in the future. Also, keep in mind that the OBIEE metadata is for a conformed enterprise Datawarewouse for many ERP systems..not just EBS R12. So its not a question of what to install for EBS R12...the question is..what modules in EBS have you implemeted and want to do Analytics on? If you only have a few modules for Financials, then you can select just those on the OBIEE installation. However, for the DW database, informatica, and DAC...you cannot isolate the install just for EBS R12..you would install everything and customize accordingly for your source system.

Why we have to use OBIA when we have OBIEE?
what is the advantage of OBIA rather than OBIEE?

    DB:2.98:Why Obia? Uregent Plz cx

to give you a quick answer...OBIA is a pre packaged Datawarehouse solution for ALL ERP systems from Oracle (EBS, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Siebel CRM..etc). This includes pre-developed ETL mapping (for each source system), pre-developed OBIEE dashboards/reports/RPD, and DAC (a separate tool to orchestrate the ETL load, drop/create indexes..etc. OBIEE is just the front end tool and does not include the packaged underlying datawarehouse. OBIA is useful to minimize the time to deliver a DW for a ERP system since you dont have to custom build such a large DW for ERP systems..since Oracle has built it for you. Hope that helps.

    DB:2.98:Obia 7.9.6.3 8a

    Hi ,

You need to do some more configuration in order to view reports,

    follow these steps and try..

    Copying the DAC Metadata Files

DAC metadata files are extracted by the Oracle BI Applications installer (in the directory OraclelBI\dwrep\DAC_metadata\) and you need to copy these files to the machines hosting the DAC Client and Server.

DAC_Client in this table is the directory OraclelBI\dwrep\DAC_metadata

DAC Machine File/Folder Name Source File/Folder Destination File/Folder

Client The complete Export folder DAC_metadata\DAC_Client\export DacHome\bifoundation\dac\export

    Client The deletetriggers.list file DAC_metadata\DAC_Client DacHome\bifoundation\dac\conf

    Server The parameterfileOLTP.txt file DAC_metadata\DAC_Server DacHome\bifoundation\dac\Informatica\
    parameters\input

    Server The parameterfileDW.txt file DAC_metadata\DAC_Server DacHome\bifoundation\dac\Informatica\
    parameters\input

    Informatica PowerCenter Configuration

    Source Files and Lookup Files

Copy from the OBIA installation machine:

    the source files from \OracleBI\dwrep\Informatica\SrcFiles

    the lookup files from \OracleBI\dwrep\Informatica\LkpFiles

    To

INFA_HOME\Informatica\9.0.1\server\infa_shared\lookup and src files u have to move to this place.

On Windows copy the Informatica Repository file called Oracle_BI_DW_Base.rep installed into the OracleBIHome\dwrep\Informatica\Repository directory to the \Informatica PowerCenter8.6.1\server\infa_shared\Backup directory.

Enable Communication Between Informatica PowerCenter and DAC (with pmcmd and pmrep)

DAC uses the Informatica pmrep and pmcmd command line programs to communicate with Informatica PowerCenter in the following ways:

    DAC Server uses

pmrep to communicate with PowerCenter Repository Services.

pmcmd to communicate with PowerCenter Integration Services to run the Informatica workflows.

    DAC Client uses

pmrep to synchronize tasks with Informatica workflows and to keep the DAC task source and target tables information up to date.

The pmrep/pmcmd program must be installed:

    in the PowerCenter Client (\PowerCenter_home\client\bin)

and in the PowerCenter Services bin directories (\PowerCenter_home\server\bin).

It's why the two software (client as server) must co-located.

The pmrep is already installed with the default installations and the pmcmd program must be manually copied from the PowerCenter Services bin folder to the PowerCenter Client bin folder.

    OBIEE

u have to take a copy of repository from obiee instance and move to linux machine and catalog also from windows to linux catalog foder.

    DB:2.97:Obia Implementation cj

    Hello :

Currently working on a OBIA Implementation. Wanted to know how is the data loaded into the W_AR_XACT_F table. I know that all invoices would be part of this table but not sure whether the table should store one record per invoice OR multiple records per invoice.

    Please suggest.

    Thanks
    Satya

    DB:2.97:Obia Implementation cj

For purposes of this example, records are extracted and loaded into a fact staging table W_AR_XACT_FS. Foreign keys corresponding to the dimension tables are then added to the records, and the transformed records are then loaded into fact table W_AR_XACT_F.

For this example, the fact table is assumed to have 8 associated dimension tables whose foreign keys are to be inserted into the records in the fact staging table prior to the records being loaded into the fact table. According to the processing depicted in FIG. 2, the dimension tables are sorted based upon the number of records in the tables. Table A shown below depicts the dimension tables sorted in ascending order based upon the number of records (in thousands) in the tables.

    TABLE A

    Sorted Dimension Tables
Dimension table No of records (000)

    W_ORG_D 15
    W_SUPPLIER_D 35
    W_SUPPLIER_ACCOUNT_D 50
    W_PRODUCT_D 115
    W_SALES_PRODUCT_D 150
    W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D 450
    W_GL_ACCOUNT_D 2000
    W_CUSTOMER_LOC_D 5000

After iteratively outer joining dimension tables with the fact staging table, starting with one with the smallest number of records according to the processing depicted in FIG. 2, it is determined that the first six tables are suitable for outer joins with the fact staging table while the last two tables are not suitable. Lookup transformations may be used to add foreign keys for the last two dimension tables. The final SQL query for joining the fact staging table W_AR_XACT_FS with the first six dimension tables is as follows:

    SELECT /* USE_HASH(W_ORG_D
    W_SUPPLIER_D
    W_SUPPLIER_ACCOUNT_D
    W_PRODUCT_D
    W_SALES_PRODUCT_D
    W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D
    W_AR_XACT_FS) */

FIG. 3 is a simplified block diagram of a processing system 300 that may be used to practice an embodiment of the present invention. System 300 may be part of an ETL tier or may also be part of a data warehouse system and may be used to execute SQL queries and lookup transformations. As shown in FIG. 3, system 300 includes a processor 302 that communicates with a number of peripheral devices via a bus subsystem 304 . These peripheral devices may include a memory subsystem 306 , input devices 308 , output devices 310 , and a network interface subsystem 312 . Bus subsystem 304 provides a mechanism for letting the various components and subsystems of system 300 communicate with each other as intended. Although bus subsystem 304 is shown schematically as a single bus, alternative embodiments of the bus subsystem may utilize multiple busses.

Processor 302 is configured to perform processing performed by system 300 . For example, processor 302 may be configured to execute programs, code, or instructions to perform transformation and load operations according to an embodiment of the present invention. Processor 302 may also control other subsystems or devices.

Input devices 308 enable a user such as a data warehouse administrator or an ETL process operator to interact with and provide information to system 300 . Input devices 308 may include wired or wireless devices such as a keyboard, pointing devices such as a mouse, trackball, touchpad, or graphics tablet, a scanner, a touchscreen incorporated into the display, audio input devices such as voice recognition systems, microphones, and other types of input devices. In general, an input device may refer to any device or mechanism that may be used for inputting information to system 300 . Input devices 308 typically allow a user to select objects, icons, text and the like that appear on a monitor via a command such as a click of a button or the like.

Output devices 310 may include wired or wireless devices such as a display subsystem, a printer, a fax machine, or non-visual displays such as audio output devices, etc. Examples of a display subsystem include a cathode ray tube (CRT), a flat-panel device such as a liquid crystal display (LCD), a projection device, etc. In general, an output device may refer to any device or mechanism for outputting information from system 300 . For example, the trace files may be viewed by a user using an output device.

Network interface subsystem 312 provides an interface to other computer systems, and networks. Network interface subsystem 312 serves as an interface for receiving data from other sources and for transmitting data to other sources from system 300 . Embodiments of network interface subsystem 312 include an Ethernet card, a modem (telephone, satellite, cable, ISDN, etc.), (asynchronous) digital subscriber line (DSL) units, FireWire interface, USB interface, and the like. For example, subsystem 312 may be coupled to a computer network, to a FireWire bus, or the like. In other embodiments, network interface subsystem 312 may be physically integrated on the motherboard of system 300 , and may be a software program, such as soft DSL, or the like.

Memory subsystem 306 may be configured to store the basic programming and data constructs that provide the functionality of the present invention. For example, a computer program or software code modules (or instructions) implementing the functionality of the present invention may be stored in memory 306 . These software modules may be executed by processor(s) 302 . Memory 306 may also provide a repository for storing data used in accordance with the present invention. For example, memory 306 may store a fact staging table and or a data warehouse.

Memory 306 may include a number of memories including a main random access memory (RAM) for storage of instructions and data during program execution and a read only memory (ROM) in which fixed instructions are stored. RAM is generally semiconductor-based memory that can be read and written by processor 302 . The storage locations can be accessed in any order. RAM is generally understood to refer to volatile memory that can be written to as well as read. For example, the hash tables used for the outer join operation corresponding to data from a dimension table may be stored in a RAM. There are various different types of RAM.

Memory 306 may also comprise subsystems that provide persistent (non-volatile) storage and caching for program and data files, and may include a hard disk drive, a floppy disk drive along with associated removable media, a Compact Disk Read Only Memory (CD-ROM) drive, an optical drive such as a DVD, removable media cartridges, flash memory, and other like storage media.

Processing system 300 can be of various types including a personal computer, a portable computer, a workstation, a network computer, a mainframe, a kiosk, or any other data processing system. Due to the ever-changing nature of computers and networks, the description of system 300 depicted in FIG. 3 is intended only as a specific example for purposes of illustrating the preferred embodiment of a processing system. Many other configurations having more or fewer components than the system depicted in FIG. 3 are possible. For example, the processing system may be a desktop computer, portable computer, rack-mounted or tablet configuration. Additionally, the processing system may be a series of networked computers. Further, the use of different micro processors is contemplated, such as Pentium or Itanium microprocessors; Opteron or AthlonXP microprocessors from Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., and the like. Further, use of different types of operating systems is contemplated, such as Windows, WindowsXP, WindowsNT, or the like from Microsoft Corporation, Solaris from Sun Microsystems, LINUX, UNIX, and the like.

Although specific embodiments of the invention have been described, various modifications, alterations, alternative constructions, and equivalents are also encompassed within the scope of the invention. Embodiments of the present invention are not restricted to operation within certain specific data processing environments, but are free to operate within a plurality of data processing environments. Additionally, although embodiments of the present invention has been described using a particular series of transactions and steps, it should be apparent to those skilled in the art that the scope of the present invention is not limited to the described series of transactions and steps.

Further, while embodiments of the present invention has been described using a particular combination of hardware and software, it should be recognized that other combinations of hardware and software are also within the scope of the present invention. Embodiments of the present invention may be implemented only in hardware, or only in software, or using combinations thereof.

The specification and drawings are, accordingly, to be regarded in an illustrative rather than a restrictive sense. It will, however, be evident that additions, subtractions, deletions, and other modifications and changes may be made thereunto without departing from the broader spirit and scope as set forth in the claims.

    Hello All,

We are going to implement OBIA analytics for Oracle Financials R12.1.3 and Procure and spend Analytic.

Source Database will be E-Business Suite R12.1.3 where Oracle Financials and Procurement Modules are already implemented.

We will be going with latest Product releases i.e

    OBIEE 11.1.1.6.8 (so far)
    OBIA 7.9.6.4
    Informatica 9.1 HF2
    DAC 11g.

Number of users for EBS will be around 500 and number of Users for OBIA will be around 100.

I need suggestions about hardware. What will be the recommended hardware with above products.

It will be more good if you suggest recommended OS for specific products as well.

    Following are my own suggestion.

There will be total 4 servers.

    1. OBIEE with 16 GB of Ram and 2x3 GHz Processor, 400GB Hardisk
    2. Informatica/DAC server with 12 GB of Ram and 2x3 GHz Processor, 400GB Hardisk
    3. Informatica/DAC servewith 8 GB of Ram and 2x3 GHz Processor, 200 GB Hardisk
    4. Dataware House with 8 GB of Ram and 2x3 GHz Processor, 5 TB Hardisk

My suggestion could be beyond or less on limits. as I just make this as a guess.

Further is there any method to calculate the hardware sizing?

    Thanks
    Naeem Akhtar

DB:2.96:Hardware Suggestion For Obia Implementation p9

Oracle is taking money for support only, other things are free :)

yes as Benoit says you should add more CPU and RAM on the datawarehouse server.

One Company is going to implement OBIA (with all other components) and 3 Soruce Oracle EBS Modules (Financials, SCM, HRMS) and number of user for that company is 50,000.

Another one is going to implement only one (Oracle financials) with 100 users.

The Load of users will come come to datawarehouse only.

    Thanks

    Hi,

How to increase loglevel for the user weblogic in OBIA 7.9.6.3.

    Regards,
    Rama

    DB:2.96:Log Level 1j

Updating the log level in OBIA 7.9.6.3 is relatively easy regardless of the 'user'.

    1) In Admin Tool goto Manage -Security
    2) Double click the user ID (in this case web logic)
    3) Set the logging level by clicking the appropriate up/down arrows next to the log level field.

Also, I recommend you bookmark and reference Oracle's Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition Documentation Library (10.1.3.4) . This library contains general-purpose information not just specific to OBIA.

    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E10415_01/welcome.html
Click the documentation tab and download the "Server Administrator Guide". This is a core document that you should have open at all times during your build phase.

    Hi,

I would like to hear your comments around the use OBIA Micro ETL in your production environment. I am interested if it is a suitable solution for a near-to-real-time OBIA environment.

    Background:
Client wants a near-to-real time OBIA reports and Oracle recommended the use of Micro ETL. However I am doubtful that micro etl will perform well as well as provide synchronized data given that only smaller subject areas are updated.

    Another question is:
What have you used with OBIA to deliver a near-to-real time BI solution?

    Thanks,

Thanks for this thread man. I tried to implement it. But I tried to implement the whole thing on single system. Y don't we use single system for all the above 3?
    My implementation steps,
    Windows Server 2003.
    Installed Oracle EBS 11i,
    Installed OBIEE,
Installed Oracle BI Applications 7.9.6.1 and also installed 7.9.5.1 ( installation failed, I can get DAC but not Analytics repository)
Installed Informatica 8.6.1 and 7.1.1 but unable to connect to Oracle 9i database which is installed with Oracle EBS, got problem which created repository service. I guess the main reason is Oracle Database is not allowing informatica to connect to the user i created for Informatica. GOT Struck hear, let us see how your implementation works, If your's work fine i can try it.

    Thanks,

Good question.Data volume? Network infrastructure? Are you going to use same database instance? If yes, what does your DBA team say? What does your systems admin team say? Will your OBIA users be happy when Ora Apps needs maintenance so needs to shutdown the environment and most importantly, when the situation reverses? For example we are going to implement Business Intelligence for Oracle Financials R12.1.3 and Oracle HRMS R12.1.3 then how much type of resources we need?

    1. Database Administrators ( To carry on the installation, security things)
    2. BI Technical Consultant (To Map the Oracle Financials, HRMS with OBIA)
    3. BI Functional Consultant (To explain dashboards in front of client with domain knowledge)

Do I need to create the Data Warehouse tables via DAC 7.9.5 or upgrade the Windows DAC client and Linux DAC server right after installation and proceed with the rest of the OBIA Installation and Configuration steps from Chapter 4? Also, given a Linux Informatica 8.1.1 Server, should the DAC client's INFA_DOMAINS_FILE point to the Linux domains.infa file instead of the dummy Windows one installed to create the pmcmd.exe executable?

    Thanks.

DB:2.89:When To Upgrade Dac To 10.1.3.4 During New Multi-Source Obia Implementation 3x

Yup. With "fully configure" also including importing the seed repository into DAC in 7.9.5 before you update to 10.1.3.4 otherwise the 10.1.3.4 client can have fits working with the seed repository (/export) packaged with 7.9.5. I wish the 10.1.3.4 distribution included, well, a 10.1.3.4-friendly seed repository so that we could skip the 7.9.5 step altogether. Deploying DAC server to Linux in 7.9.5 is a pain in the neck.
