    Hi,

Code 39 means the driver is corrupt or missing.

Please do all the below even if you have done some before as it is often the total process which solves

    the issue.

Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab - click
Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT

this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if drive is not showncontinue below.

Then work your way through these - remember the drive could be bad, could have a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then check cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just snug. For laptops you can often clean the power and
data contacts with a pencil eraser.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Also check with your System Maker to see if there are updated drivers for your DVD. Or even if there
are old ones you can reinstall. Many use the Windows Default drivers however a few will have special
ones. Also check the drive maker's site.

Manually look at manufacturer's sites for drivers - and Device Maker's sites.

OurMoss 2007 server was promoted to a domain controller and thendemoted. I was asked to fix SharePoint. I was able to get the web server up and running again by a combination of adding the IIS_WPG and WSS_ADMIN_WPG groups, adding
theservice accountto them, and then restoring permissions to to these local groupson certain directories on the web server.
But the Search is really messed up. There was no clear path to repairing this part so I thought I should start over by removing the Search Shared Service Provider but I am unable create a new one because there are No indexers. I am unable to
resolve thisbecause I can'tstart the Office SharePoint Server Search Service started. The error reported is:

The Central Admin doesn't seem to be useful here. I am wondering if anyone knows the administrative commands that I can use with stsadmin that might give me a back door. Or perhaps a combination of stopping services and stsadm will work to get
the slate wiped clean so I can start over.

    Thanks
We did all of those things but could not run psconfig.exe to repair the installation.
I found one case where Microsoft Support recommended to delete this entryin the config database so theSearch can reprovision:
DELETE FROM dbo.MSSConfiguration WHERE Name = 'RegistryBlob'
So Iran a SELECT * FROM dbo.MSSConfiguration WHERE Name = 'RegistryBlob' and I did findone RegistryBlob entry with a date of 8/24 which is when this particular error began:
Error backing up registry hive to the configuration database.Context: Application 'Search index file on the search server. Details: The system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002)
In the end management didn't want to waste time and the above was never tried, instead the server was rebuilt from scratch. It wouldhave been nice to know if this would have resolved the problem.

Any time there is a change to Internet Explorer settings, it will affect Windows Registry settings. It's no different than you setting your clock to daylight savings time. It too changes settings.

Clean boot uses a minimal set of drivers in order to eliminate software applications that may be causing the issue. You can use Guided Help (download) which will lead you through the process

Would you mind posting the name of the toolbar - if you've uninstalled it, you may not have uninstalled all of files.

Malware slides through downloaded files. Toolbars will be checked when you install other software and if not paying attention
fail to uncheck the option. Believe me with some software it will be written in fine print.

To rule out malware, reboot your computer and begin tapping F8 at the sign of the computer logo. Select Safe Mode with Networking in order to download the following tool. Run a full scan. This will remove malware

    Hi Craigovlh,
I see that you have some issues with Internet Explorer. I will help you with this issue.

1.What is the make and model of the computer?
2.Which security software is installed on the computer?
3.Did you make any changes to the computer recently?

    Method 1.
Boot the computer in safe mode with networking and check.
Advanced startup options (including safe mode):
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

If the issue does not occur in safe mode, then proceed with the clean boot state.
A clean boot helps to verify if any third party application service or startup item is causing this issue.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow step 3 in the article to boot to normal startup.

    Method 2.
You can run the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is free from viruses.
    Microsoft Safety Scanner:
    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Safety Scanner Disclaimer: There could be a loss of data while performing a scan using Microsoft safety scanner to eliminate viruses if any.

    Method 3.
For issue related to Internet Explorer: Tips for solving problems when Internet Explorer crashes or stops working:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/tips-for-solving-problems-with-internet-explorer
Disclaimer: The Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature might reset security settings or privacy settings that you added to the list of Trusted Sites. The Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature might also reset parental control settings. We recommend
that you note these sites before you use the Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature.

    Method 4.
I would suggest you to perform SFC scan and check if that helps. The SFC /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.
For more information how to do SFC/ scan, please follow this link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Method 5.
I would like you to create a new user account and check if that helps.
    Create a user account: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/Create-a-user-account
If the issue does not occur in the new user account, then you can transfer the files from the corrupted user account to new user account using the "Fix a corrupted user profile" article.

The default search provider in IE 11 is Bing. I want to change, and make Dogpile.com my default search provider.

    How can that be accomplished?

    DB:2.92:Change Default Search Provider 8s

This was easily accomplished back in IE8, but I fear that Microsoft has now become fearful of competition for its Bing search engine, and is denying users the opportunity to avoiddepending on Bing.

If there is no way to add this search engine in IE 11, I will have to delete IE11 from my system and go back tousing IE8.

    DB:2.86:Corrupted Seach Provider px

    Hello Alin Ro,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers community!

There are a couple of fixes that may work when a corrupted search provider occurs. First thing to try is to reset Internet Explorer back to default settings. You can do this by:
    · Open
    Internet Explorer
    · Click
    Tools
    · Click
    Internet Options
    · Click the
    Advanced tab
    · Click
    Reset…
    · Click
    Reset
    · Click
    Close
    · Click
    OK
    · Click
    OK
    · Close
    Internet Explorer
    · Open
    Internet Explorer

When you open Internet Explorer after the reset you will be prompted to select your options that you would like to have. If this doesn’t fix your corrupted search provider problem, then it’s possible that your user profile has become corrupted.
    You can test/fix this by:
    · Click
    Start
    · Click
    Control Panel
    · Click
User Accounts and Family Safety and/or User Account (depending on your view settings)
    · Click
    Manage another Account
    · Click
    Create a new account
    · Type the name of the user account
    · Click the account type (make it administrator if you are replacing an administrator account)
    · Click
    Create Account
    · Log off the current user
    · Log into the new user
Test to see if you still have the corrupted search provider in the new user account. If you can then follow these steps to copy over your user profile.
    · Log out of the new user
    · Log into the old user
    · Click
    Start
    · Click
    Documents
    · Click
Tools (Press Alt if Tools isn’t visible)
    · Click
    Folder Options
    · Click
    View
    · Click
    Show hidden files and folders
    · Clear
    Hide protected operating system files
    · Click
    OK
    · Navigate to
    C:\Users\old username
    · Select all files and folders except files that contain:
    o Ntuser.dat
    o Ntuser.dat.log
    o Ntuser.ini
    · Click
Edit (Press Alt if not visible)
    · Click
    Copy
    · Navigate to
    C:\Users\new username
    · Click Continue
    · Click

DB:2.83:Search Provider Corrupt Error Message In Ie8 On Windows Xp Machine. f7

A Program on your computer has corrupted your default search setting for Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider.
Internet Explorer will now open Search Settings, where you can change this setting or install more search providers.

This is the basic error I am getting. On my machine I have had Google as the default as well as Live and I get the error either way.
I am curious as to why Microsoft hasn't done anything to fix this issue. It just started showing up on my machine two weeks ago, but I have seen posts on thisissue dating back to 2008. I go back to IE7 and everything is just fine as far as the search
provider is concerned but it won't remember passwords. I go back to IE8 andI get the frack'n same message.
I know that people are saying to change something in the registry but I'll be damned if I am going to mess with the registry when Microsoftcan institute a patch. I am not that tech savi to mess with the registry. From this post forward I will only use
IE as last resort. I wish there was a way to remove it completely from my system. Google Chrome and Firefox will work just fine for me.
If someone has any shards of information the don't involve changing the registry then I will take them under advisement.

    Vista Ultimate with IE9
    • What worked for me was removing everything in "C:\Users\MyProfile\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Protect". (had to use procmon.exe to see the cause)
    • There was a file "CREDHIST" and a folder with my SID as its name.
    • I moved them to another directory.
    • Restarted my IE9 and the pop up stating that a program has corrupt the search provider stopped.
    What hasn't worked for me:
    • renaming "appdata\roaming" to "application data" in the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\appdata" (this was a fix for XP users)
    • resetting IE to default in options

This isn't Windows Phone 7 correct? In Windows Phone 7, there isn't a way for you to change it, nor is there a way for the OEM to change it. What version of Windows Mobile are you using? It is possible that the mobile operatoror the OEM has
an agreement with Yahoo. If you go to bing.com on your device, and install the Bing app, does that change the behavior?

It is wp7, thats the problem, we've been led to believe we would have bing as the search engine, having bought a microsoft phone, and now are stuck with yahoo.

I have had a new computer for about 2 months now with no problems. Out of the blue in Internet Explorer 9 I cannot download files and it says my search engine is corrupt. Now, I've tried rolling back to an earlier version of I.E. with no success, set security
settings back to default, cleared out all the temporary files through the Settings window and tried running the I.E. without addons version all with no success. I also cannot select a different search provider to be my default other than Bing. And due to the
downloading issue, I can't even download a new search add on to use. When it comes to downloading a file (doesn't matter if it's from email, from firefox.com, download.com, etc) I click on the link to download, the next page comes up thanking me for the download
but nothing else pops up like it always used to and no files are in my Downloads folder. Please help this is very frustrating.

DB:2.80:Cannot Download New Files And Search Engine Corrupted 9z

Only popup blocker I have is the default one

Nevertheless there are signs are that you have anotherinterferer that you aren'tthinking of as that way, one that cannot be controlled by normal tools such as NAOM or RIES. So next you should be doing some clean-boot troubleshooting. E.g. boot in safe
mode with Networking (if that is necessary to reproduce your symptom.) If you normally rely on a third-party software firewall it would probably be prevented from loading then, so make sure that you have the Windows firewall enabled before connecting to
    the Internet.

You may have an ISP that automatically redirects you to a search page if a DNS look up fails.
This takes the control from Firefox to do a search.
You can contact your ISP and ask for a DNS server to opt-out of that feature.
You can check if there is a link on the search results page to go to your ISP and opt-out.
You can set different DNS servers.

DB:2.75:Hibernate Search Master/Slave Setup With Infinispan xz

I have a master/slave jms hibernate search setup running using NFS and is working correctly. Unfornately with nfs locking issues with lucene, eventually the index becomes corrupt and requires reindex or recopying of the index from source directory.

I have attempted to convert the current setup to infinispan directory but only with partial success. I still want to follow the original master/slave setup the only difference is directory provider. Unfortnately it looks like the IndexReader cannot read any data from the cache and returns nothing. I can see the cache store file directory getting filled up, jmx-console also indicate data in the cache, but the reader cannot see any index. Rebooting the machine causes the provider to load the index from file system and everything works fine, but any subsequent index does not show up. I have setup hibernate search to use no share index reader(causes new index reader to be loaded each time), but it made no difference.

I have temporary disable the master/slave setup and uses regular hibernate search setup, every thing works correctly, search show data as soon as index start.

So the question is does it still make sense to use master/slave approach for infinispan directory setup? what causes infinispan to not show data to the other client? The index is done in a MDB in a ejb-jar file while the reader is from a war file, both are setup to use jta transaction. How does infinispan knows when to show the data to other client? I assume its using transaction but it does not work when clients are different. It works fine when both index is done in the same war file.

DB:2.75:Hibernate Search Master/Slave Setup With Infinispan xz

Yeah indexName are the same, I am not smart enough to get two different indexName to generate the same hashCode().

    might be bad luck

    I wonder if you replace

    if (FileListCacheKey.class != obj.getClass())

    with

    if (!FileListCacheKey.class.equals(obj.getClass()))

would that make a difference as far as class loader is concerned....

No, and it's not really the point. you must stricly not have two definitions of the same class in the same application, or you'll have many more hard to debug issues, not only with Infinispan but just any code.

Please check your jars, at least one is duplicate and should be removed.

    to fix it.

DB:2.75:Ie9 Program Corrupting Search Provider Alert. 1m

    Hello RJ_Dev,

There is a fairly easy way to fix this.

    1.Close Internet Explorer 9.

    2. Goto your user directory in Microsoft Windows.

3.In the menu above, select Tools-Folder Option...-View(Tab)-Click the, "Show Hidden Files and Folders" radio button.

    4. Hit Ok.

    5. Open AppData folder, open Roaming folder, open Microsoft folder, open Protect folder.

    6. Anything in this folder should be deleted, the values get reset once the programs are restarted. In
    this case it's IE9.

    7. Go back to your user directory and repeat the steps for #3 but this time select not to "Show Hidden Files and Folders" radio button and hit Ok.

    8. Close that window.

    9. Open up IE9.

    10. Enjoy! You're done.

DB:2.75:How To Uninstall Tencent Soso Search Provider From Internet Explorer dz

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forums.

From the issue description I understand that you are unable to uninstall tencent soso search provider from internet explorer on Windows 7 computer.

I believe the TENCENT SOSO search provider was downloaded together with the QVOD PLAYER (P2P from China) even if you uncheck it.

To remove SOSO search provider, I would suggest you to try these steps and check if it helps.

    Method 1
First check if any program related to
tencent soso is available on the computer, if found uninstall them and check.
    Uninstall or change a program
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Uninstall-or-change-a-program

    Method 2
Check if there is an option for
tencent soso toolbar in the Internet explorer.
    a) Open Internet explorer Click on
View and later Click on Toolbar and check if you can find tencent soso toolbar available.
Later check in the search provider option if
tencent soso is available as search provider.
    a) Open Internet Explorer by clicking the
Start button. In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then, in the list of results, click
    Internet Explorer.
    b) Click the Tools button, and then click
    Manage Add-ons.
    c) In Manage Add-ons, under
    Add-on types, click Search Providers.

    Method 3
    a) Open Internet Explorer by clicking the
Start button. In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then, in the list of results, click
    Internet Explorer.
    b) Click the Tools button, and then click
    Manage Add-ons.
    c) In Manage Add-ons, under
    Add-on types, click Search Providers.
    d) Toward the bottom of the screen, select the
Prevent programs from suggesting changes to my default search provider check box, and then click
    Close.

How do I prevent programs from changing my default search provider?
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/How-do-I-prevent-programs-from-changing-my-default-search-provider

A search for Seam Identity Management API returns over 10,000 results. Checking Exact Phrase returns 0 results.
The following post contains the string Seam Identity Management API, shouldn't it be returned in the search results?

DB:2.73:Dg834gv5 File Downloads Are Corrupt j8

I've search and can't find anything so here i go:

I'm having trouble downloading files (virus updates, itunes apps and updates, program downloads...), everything I download is coming up corrupt. I've updated the firmware, reset the factory settings, but still have the issue. I think that it's related to either the modem or internet provider (I will try the laptop on another network tonight to verify this). Does anyone know what thing could be?

    Cheers

Have tried multiple options including turned functionality on/off, rebuild, CHKSCN resulting in error for corrupt file, but no resolution. Any one have any suggestions, other than reinstalling the entire operating system? Thanks in advance for the help!

It sounds like you could have a virus or other malware. Get your antivirus program up to date and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide themselves from your antivirus program in normal mode, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To
get into Safe Mode when you first power up, hit F8 about once a second until you get the menu and select Safe Mode. Then run a full system scan.

If that fixes it, fine. If not, use System Restore to go back to a date prior to the beginning of the problem. To run System Restore, click Start - Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore. Click the box that says Show more restore points.

You can check for corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above doesn't help. Click START, then type CMD in the search box, right-click CMD.EXE and click Run as administrator. Then from the command prompt type sfc /scannow.

Finally if all else fails, you can check the rather cryptic system event log. To do so click Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Event Viewer. Once in Event Viewer click on the system log and scroll through the entries looking for those flagged
"error" to see if you can find hints as to where the problem could be.

When you get your system back in good working order, I urge you to back your system up to an external hard drive and make regular periodic updates to it.
