    How can I fix this?

DB:3.14:Installing Office 2010 Home And Student Uninstalled Outlook 2003 cf

I can sympathise with your concerns. VERY MANY people get caught in the same trap.
The reason it is suggested you install oldest to newest versions is to ensure that the newest versions of shared files are present. That instruction is most important when you are installing multiple versions of Office on the same machine. I have Office
HS 2003, 2007 and 2010 installed on my machine. In your case, just re-installing older outlook appears to not have affected any of the shared files.
The default installation, which you apparently (along with most people) followed automatically uninstalls previous versions of OFFICE, not explicitly picking overlapping apps. Hence Outlook and Access are uninstalled by Home and Student, even though newer
versions are NOTbeing installed. It is an "assumption" by the installer/uninstaller programmer.

    Hi,
Thanks for posting in Microsoft Community. As I understand you are unable to send or forward emails from Outlook 2010. Let me help you with the issue.

Before we start with the troubleshooting steps, I have couple of questions for you :
What is the account type configured in Outlook? (POP/IMAP/Exchange)
Apart from sending and forwarding of emails , are you able to receive emails in Outlook?
Do you get any error message or error number?

Office 2010 comes with anytime upgrade feature, so that other than the applications you have purchased the rest would be a trial.

Office Home and Student 2010 include the following application Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.
Outlook, access would be part of Office professional trial. Once the trial period is expired you will have to buy a full version or you may buy Outlook as a standalone and install it to continue working with it.

If you had checked the box to allow the Office professional trial toinstall, then you may have Outlook 2010 as well on the computer.

You may remove the Office professional trial and then tryto work with Outlook 2003, check if it helps:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2292661

If Outlook failed to work correctly even after removing the trial program , you may follow the steps from the below article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813514

I hope the above step helps. If you need any further assistance reply and we will be glad to assist you.

    DB:3.03:Re-Installing Office Home Student 2010 m8

    Hi Cristal,

Thank you for posting your concern at the Microsoft Community and it's my pleasure to assist you.

As per the description provided, it looks like you are having issues with installing Office 2010.

Before we proceed I would require some more information to assist you better.

    1. Mention the edition of Office 2010 that was installed on the computer?

    2. Mention the product key type for Office 2010? Is it a retail/OEM copy or a Product Key Card?

The Office Product Key Card can only be installed on one PC. If you ever need to reinstall Office you can only do so on the same PC.

To know more on Product Key Cards, refer to the following:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/buy/office-product-key-card-frequently-asked-questions-HA101847520.aspx

If the product key type is a retail license, you may re-download Office 2010 setup file from the following link and then try installing it.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/microsoft-office-2010-backup-FX101853122.aspx

Note: Ensure to save the Office 2010 setup file on the desktop and then double click on it to install.

I hope the above information helps. If you need further assistance on the same, you can reply and I’ll be happy to assist you.

    Thank you

    Hi,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Office Community and thanks for providing us an opportunity to assist you. By the description, I understand that you are unable to install Office 2010 Home and Student.

Ideally Office 2010 Starter is preinstalled on the new computer provided by the computer manufacturer as an
    OEM copy.

If you have the disc for Office 2010 suite, then let us uninstall any previous/trial version of Office suite.

    Step 1:
Check if multiple versions of Office is installed on the computer. Follow the steps:
    1. Press the Windows + R key on the keyboard.
    2. Type appwiz.cpl in the Run command window - Click OK.

If you find a trial version of Office suite usually pre-installed by the computer manufacturer, then uninstall and restart the computer.

If you have Office 2010 Click-to-Run based edition, refer the following link to remove Office Click-to-Run:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/update-repair-or-uninstall-office-click-to-run-products-HA010382089.aspx

    Step 2;
Refer the Method 2 and run the FIX IT to remove Office suite manually from the computer.

    Office 2010 Suite: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301#Method2

Restart the computer and you will be able to install Office 2010 Home and Student on the computer. If you need further assistance, reply and we will be glad to assist you.

Are you installing Off 2010 from the disk or from a setup?
Is this a standalone PC or on a domain?
And what is the ‘exact error message’ that you get? If it’s in polish, I suggest its better to post this in the polish forums below. Remember to provide the details asked above.

DB:2.91:Purchased Microsoft Office 2010 Home And Student 83

As the others have said, you don't have to remove Starter. If you do plan to remove it you should consider one feature that is unique to starter. Starter is the ONLY "Portable" version of office. Using starter you can "install" it onto USB Drives so that
you can take it with you to a windows computer that does not have Office installed on it. The other unique thing about starter is that if you uninstall it, it is gone because MS provides the installation file for it to manufactureres, never to users (according
to their policy). Finally, often starter is installed as "Click to Run", in a "sandbox" that in theory keeps it completely separate from installed versions.

    DB:2.90:Installing Office 2010 Home Student Over Pre-Installed Office Starter 2010 3d

    Hey G.
A "full image copy" is the computer equivalent of taking an exact 'bit-by-bit'picture/photocopy of the hard drive. When you do a restore from an image copy your HD is restored to EXACTLY same condition as when it was backed up. This is important for files
that have to be in a specific location on the HD, such as the "boot files". There are a couple of other backup types, incremental which backs up only files that have been changed since last backup and a "file-copy" backup that copies files by directory/name.
The important point in the two links is in the second one, the part titled "Making Starter ‘To Go’" . If you have a spare USB and follow those simple instructions you will have a copy of Office Starter installed onto the USB that you will be able to use
in any windows machine, even if they don't have office installed.
In earlier versions of Windows the "tools" like Backup were "limited", and many people resorted to 3rd party tools. But I think Win7 backup is finally up to the job (at least I haven't heard anything to the contrary).
Here is a link to how to create an image backup:
    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/4241/how-to-create-a-system-image-in-windows-7/

DB:2.89:Installing Full Version Of Office Home Student 2010 8k

I have a trial version of home student 2010 and am planning to buy the full version from a retailer. Is it best to uninstall the trial first or 'convert' as suggested in the FAQ's?

DB:2.89:Installing Full Version Of Office Home Student 2010 8k

    I agree with Brian's suggestions.

I like to uninstall the factory trial because it is setup to include all 3 retail bundles. Meaning you have a lot of unused code if you go with HS.

Avoiding the Product Key Card (a marketing S*C*A*M) is a good idea for a couple of reasons. Although it is US$20-30 cheaper, it is only good for installation on one Computer. PERIOD. In worst case, if your new computer dies immediately after installing Office,
the hardware will be replaced under Waranty, but you will have to BUY a new copy of Office! The "Retail" license will allow you to transfer your installations to new computers as you need to. As well, it will allow you to install on up to 3 computers (HS
only) in your home, for only $20 bucks extra!

Getting the installation disk is a good idea because eventually you won't be able to download it any more. There are many people posting questions asking for 2003 and earlier installation files. As well, the factory disk comes with both 32 and 64 bit installation
files. Even though MS still recommends 32 bit, eventually 64 bit will be a reasonable alternative for everyone.

You can buy retail licensees online, but you typically pay the same price as the Boxed CD edition and have to pay US$20-30 extra for the "backup disk", plus shipping.

Taken together, our recommendations make the "Retail Boxed CD" edition the best value if you can get to an electronics store.

DB:2.88:Install Office Home And Student 2010 Without Automatically Deleting Already Installed Outlook 2010 9s

Iwas running Office Home and Student 2003 and Outlook 2003. I bought Office Home and Student 2010 and installed it; no problem with Word, Excell and Powerpoint installing but installing Office Home and Student 2010 erased my existing Outlook 2003. AlthoughI
was satisfied with Outlook 2003 I then bought Outlook 2010 online, out of neccesity to get back to my email accounts.
I recently had a complete Windows7 failure and called in a PC support service. They got me back up but installed Office Professional 2010 trial, not Office Home and Student 2010and Outlook 2010 as I had asked them (we had multiple peopleinvolved over
several days). This trial period for the Office Professional 2010 trialis about to expire but when i attent to activate the trial version neither the activation codes i have for Office Home and Student 2010 or Outlook 2010 are accepted (as they are not
for Office Professional 2010).I would rather not de-installOffice Professional 2010 completly as this will erase my Outlook, which is quite complicated with multiple accounts.
    Any suggestions?
CanI somehow obtain an Office Professional 2010licence in "exchange" for Office Home and Student 2010and Outlook 2010 licences I have?I could call back the PC support folksto fix the problem they caused but I have low confidence in them now.

Why not make life easy and simply backup your Microsoft Outlook 2010 settings then uninstall the trial version.

No problemo here understandig trip to's reply. Quite simply, if it's not already downloaded on your computer you must first download it (usually the trial version first) to your computer and install it.

I already have MS office pro 2010 on my computer and want to replace it with MS office home and student, how do I go about doing that??

DB:2.87:Installing Ms Office Home And Student 2010 9a

Uh, why would you want to do that? Transfer license to another computer is the only reasonable reason I can think of...

Simple, just uninstall the 2010 Pro, reboot, then install and activate HS.

Ensure no other version of Microsoft Office is installed on the computer.
Did you try to install Office 2010 from the disc or from a downloaded file?
As per the system requirements for office 2010, you need to have service pack 3 installed
for windows XP. Download and install SP3 for Windows XP.

when downloading office 2010, when it is at step 3 of 4 installing prerequisites it comes up with an error, saying there is a problem setting up Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010: There was a problem setting up Microsoft office. i have tried running
setup again but keeps coming up with this same message. what else can i try?

DB:2.87:Downloading Microsoft Office Home And Student 2010 az

First, when you are downloading, are you selecting the SAVE (yes do that!) to drive option or the RUN installation (BAD IDEA) option (get the hint).
Second, clean out your TEMP folder.
The best way to clean the %temp% folder is after a reboot, so if you are planning to reboot, hold off on that step or repeat the %temp% cleanup after reboot
·open the run window: win R
(or the Start Menu search window)
    ·type %temp%,
    ·press ENTER,
·Windows Explorer opens in the TEMP folder
    ·Select all files: CTL A
    ·Delete
·For any files in use, just SKIP them
    Third, try this possible fix
Office 2010 installation stops at step 4 of 4, and error message: "There was a problem setting up Microsoft Office" -

Can I install Office 2013 when I only have Office Student 2007 on my computer, or do I have to have Office Student 2010 installed before upgrading to Office 2013?

    DB:2.87:Installing Office Student 2013 Over Office Student 2007 3d

    Hi
Thank you for answering. I tried above suggestions, unfortunately it did not help. No trace of office2013 whateoever on the PC.

The PC itself is a factory install. I could install my dormant HUP office2010 installation tough with no problem, having mypurchased keys and everything, thus the issue must be somewhere in office2013 (I am reluctant to de-install office2010 out of fear
to be left without anything and having lost all [mail] settings at the end)
