    Has anyone else had issues with the csv output feature returning a "404 page not found" error when using IE version 8.0?

    DB:4.55:Csv Output Feature Results In A "Page Not Found" Error In Ie (Ver 8) d8

    Hi,

    Has anyone found a solution to this?

    It has started happening to us in the last week.

    We use IE7 and IE8. Some can successfully export with IE7, some cannot. Same with IE8 - some can, some cannot.

    For those that cannot export to CSV using IE7 or IE8, they can when using FireFox and Google Chrome !!

    I use IE8 and have uninstalled recent Windows updates on my PC (which included an update to IE8) but this did not resolve the issue.

    Any help or advice would be very welcome.

    Thanks,

    Hilary

    I have read about and successfully used the FASL output field in CSV reports(vulnerabilities). Again, GREAT Feature!

    I have received some requests from some customers asking what a particular check is expecting, or looking for...

    Is there any way to enable the "expected fasl output" to appear in CSV reports?

    Hi John,

    No luck w/ that this time - it would need to be added to the product. Most of the time a *feature* like that would need to be put thru the normal "Product Enhancement Request" process. But Iif you want, we can try via a normal Service Request... send me the SR # when you get it.

    DB:3.17:Formatting From A Csv File j8

    Can I get a CSV File to output page numbers in the form of Page 20 of 25?
    Also can I do page breaks?

    Thanks,
    Dave

    DB:3.17:Formatting From A Csv File j8

    Hello Dave:
    A CSV file is nothing more than a comma-separated file in which each field is delimited by a comma. It was never intended to be more than just rows of data.
    The standard format is row after row of data, in which the fields of each row are comma-separated. In fact, the type of file you want to export would make the CSV file unable to be imported by any application that imports the CSV files because they
    all rely on the exact format of each line, and the importing program would fail when it encountered the page number.
    That said, if you really want to export it with page numbers, you could do it using features shown in the following code example:
    Option Explicit

    Public Sub WriteTextFile()
    Dim intHandle As Integer
    Dim strOutputLine As String
    Dim i As Integer

    strOutputLine = ABCDEFG

    On Error GoTo WriteTextFileError
    ' ***********************************************************************
    ' Get a Text File Handle
    ' ***********************************************************************
    intHandle = FreeFile

    ' ***********************************************************************
    ' Open The Output File
    ' ***********************************************************************
    Open C:\samplefile1.txt For _
    Output Access Write _
    As intHandle

    ' ***********************************************************************
    ' Loop Through 10 Write Statements
    ' ***********************************************************************
    For i = 1 To 10
    Print #intHandle, strOutputLine
    Next i

    ' ***********************************************************************
    ' Close The File
    ' ***********************************************************************
    WriteTextFileExit:
    Close intHandle
    Exit Sub

    WriteTextFileError:

    MsgBox An Error Occurred In This Application vbCrLf _
    Please Contact The Developer vbCrLf vbCrLf _
    Error Number = Err.Number Description = _
    Err.Description, vbCritical

    Resume WriteTextFileExit

    End Sub
    The code above show how to initialize for writing out a sequential file. You could, using VBA, count lines and insert your own page numbers and create your own comma-delimited file from data in an Excel workbook. That process is NOT shown above.
    So, the answer to your question is NO, unless you want to create your own code to do it. Also, you could export a CSV file from Excel and then use Windows Scripting Host to add page numbers and page breaks.
    A CSV file is a standard DOS/Windows sequential file in which it would look like this (data in brackets is actually Hex control characters).
    Tom,Joe,123.27 Carriage Return, Line Feed
    Mark,Sue,64.23 Carriage Return, Line Feed
    Dave,Lewike,10000.00 Carriage Return, Line Feed
    End of File

    Hello!

    But...

    I need to include the description field in the output, which means that

    they need to be included in the input (i.e. ICE generated CSV). The

    problem is that the description field contains carriage returns. A

    carriage return is an end of record in CSV ...so the CSV isn\'t right.

    As it will become clear, I am new to scripting and even newer to PowerShell. That said, I have searched for an answer to these specific problems now going on 3 days; including the three that were recommended as I began this. Time to ask for a
    fish (or at the very least a link to a fish) rather than trying to catch the fish myself.
    I captured most of my notes within the PowerShell script itself along with example links that demonstrate the issues. In addition to being open to suggestions on how to clean up this script, the jist of my 3 problems are:

    Problem 1 and 3- When the page I am searching has multiple results,I get unreliable output; particularly in the .csv. Either a.) I only get one of the results when there should be multiples pulled off the page or b.) I get System.Object[]Problem 2 - When a pattern regex is found multiple times though the actual text itself differs, I would like only the unique occurrences.

    No, you don't. You either have a Classic ASP page (vbscript) or an ASPX page (VB.NET). Since EW's dev server doesn't support Classic ASP, I suspect it is the latter. Do please be accurate in your descriptions; it

    DB:2.82:Export Powershell Output To Csv And Display On Screen mj

    Hi

    Within Powershell, I sometimes export the results of a command to a CSV like so:

    get-mailboxserver Mail1 | get-mailbox c:\mailboxes.csv

    Sometimes I like to view the display on the screen AND export to csv, does anyone know how I can do that?

    DB:2.82:Export Powershell Output To Csv And Display On Screen mj

    That dosn't seem to work
    Anyway, I'm running
    get-mailboxserver Mail1 | get-mailbox | out-file c:\mailboxes.txt -append
    Forget trying to write to the txt file and screen at the same time, once the above command has completed, it is possible to get the results on the screen? I guess I need to echo the results back?

    DB:2.82:Export In 4.0.2 Is Not Working 7k

    Hello,

    We are currently upgrading APEX 3.2.0 to 4.0.2 and so far everything works except the Export feature.

    When I try to Export a report to a csv output, the Excel sheet does not contain any data. I went into the Report Attributes and in the "Report Export" section
    Enable csv output is marked as Yes and "Link Label" = Export.

    The export works in 3.2.0

    Is there something I am missing?

    DB:2.81:Struts Action Export To Excel fp

    Hello Everyone:
    I have the following code below to export csv data to excel from my action class.

    //Now set and send the output.
    response.reset();
    response.addHeader("cache-control", "must-revalidate");
    response.setHeader("Content-type","application/xls");
    response.setHeader("Content-disposition","attachment; filename="+fileName+ext);{color}

    //Now output the results and return null;
    response.getWriter().print(fileContents);{color}
    return null;

    The above action gets executed from a hyperlink in a list that I wish to keep visible so the user can click on a different hyperlink to download a different csv string to excel.
    Everything works fine but one annoying issue.
    When this action is executed, it opens up a blank page, then opens Excel with my data in it. It opens a new blank page for every hyperlink that I click.

    Is there anyway to STOP that blank page from opening up?
    I don't want to use the Content-type of "inline/xls" because that will open excel inside the that blank browser.

    Just in case anyone wants to see how I built the hyperlink, here it is.

    a target="_blank" href="%=request.getContextPath()%/OrderFileManagementDetail.do?logID=nested:write property="logId"/fileName=nested:write property="csvFileName"/"

    Your help would most be appreciated.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Dan.

    DB:2.81:Data Mismatch In Excel And Csv Output 3x

    Hi All

    I observed that the same data when exported to csv and excel gives different summary results. This is because excel stores the decimals whereas csv doesnot.

    Is there a way to handle this ? As it could be a great problem if users choose to export it to csv.

    Please advise.

    Good question. If using the IEPlugin, User Settings can be accessed from the Menu button. There is no equivilent item for Ajax Ajax always seems to export the formatted version. Maybe someone knows a workaround?

    Hi All,

    I need to disable CSV option from save to my comupter tab beacuse while exporting a report to CSV, BO outputs the results of the queries used in the report design instead of the formatted output that is rendered on the screen.

    Any help would be highly appreciated

    This is available in Web Intelligence 3.0, the export security command is still there but we have added specific commands for XLS, PDF, and CSV. It should also be available in XIr2 SP3.

    DB:2.80:Output In A *.Csv-File Via Text_Io Writes Some Lines Twice ac

    Hello

    I wrote a report which returns the result in the previewer and in a *.csv-File. Now I have a problem with the datas in the *.csv-file: The first datarow on the second page (in the previewer) is in the *.csv-file listed twice.

    The putfile-statement is in the format-trigger at the repeating-frame. I think the trigger is executed in the first page before the page break. Then the report notice that there is no more place. The page break will be done and after that the trigger is executed again.

    How can I get a right listing? Could anybody help me?

    Thanks
    Inge

    hello,

    you might want to check out the enhancement introduced with the latest patch. we have introduced a new output format DELIMITEDDATA that allows you to create "real" csv output (header on top, regular data, ...)

    Hi

    we want to restrict some of the columns in the csv output is there any way to do it other than using extext templates.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Have a Nice day

    DB:2.80:Restricting The Csv Output 7s

    Thanks for your reply .

    But i am having some idea will it can be implemented.

    as you said it will depend on the datamodel .

    Consider i am having 2 datasets in my datamodel for my report to get the pdf,html,excel.

    so i want to add one more data set in the same data model with llimited number of columns in the select query and i want to use that dataset in the datamodel in the report generation when i choose the csv ouput.

    Is it possible i am using bi publisher 11g.

    So if it is possbile i can restrict my output in csv format too.

    This is my idea i dont know whether it is possible or not.

    Good Day,
    I'm looking for a script that would query the DNS entries on the LAN connection (primary and secondary) on various servers listed in a text file and output the results to a csv file.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks this worked great. I made one change though C:\result.txt to C:\result.csv

    Thanks again

    DB:2.79:Csv-Export With Dynamic Filename Or Include A Report Footer? xz

    Hi All,

    I have a question regarding the exported csv file contains a variable value as part of the file name.

    I read the following thread and example from Denes here:
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:39:2021865942697087
    How to generate Excel file name

    I created a test page per instruction and I could successfully duplicate the effort and verified the csv file contains the variable value if I click on 'export to CSV' from the link.

    However, the application I am working on is slightly different. Basically in page 1, there is a 'download' button which branches to the page 2. And in page 2, in Layout and Pagination section, the value for the Report Template is set to Export CSV. In REport Export session, I set enable CSV output to Yes and file name is: P20_REPORT_DATE..csv. Of course, I also have a hidden item P20_REPORT_DATE whose value gets set in page process before header. Note: in this case, the user never really see the search results on screen when they click on the 'download' button which is different from the above example.

    When I run the application, the file name simply doesn't show up correctly, instead it is P20_REPORT_DATE.csv. It appears that the value of the P20_REPORT_DATE is never set.

    Also, is there any way I could include a report header or footer to indicate when the report is generated?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    In OpenScript for Functional Test, I want to create a csv file with just the step name and the playback time for the step. I don't care to carry all the details in my report file. I see that in the Session folder, there is a csv file with all the playback results. How can I either customize this csv file or create another csv file to report only the step name and the play back time for each iteration?

    DB:2.78:Ods Csv Large Number Leads Exponential Values In Excel zk

    HI, I have a column with large numbers defined as character datatype. When i write it to csv using an ODS statement or a proc export, the CSV file writes data properly, but when i view it in excel, it converts to exponential values.

    Alternatively, i added double quotes with an = at the beginning, but due to some reason, a pair of double quotes gets appended in the CSV file. This time, the excel view is OK but the CSV data is not as expected. Any inputs is highly appreciated. I need the data to be accurate in CSV at the same time, excel should present it accurately.

    I prefer not to generate an xls file as the number of records run into millions.

    data source;

    input x $22.;

    datalines;

    123456789123456789

    proc export data = csvdata

    outfile='/users/test/procexport.csv'

    dbms='csv'

    replace;

    run;

    --second method--

    "2",987654321123456789,"=""987654321123456789"""

    We see that additional pair of double quotes gets appended at the end.

    DB:2.78:Ods Csv Large Number Leads Exponential Values In Excel zk

    Excel and SAS cannot accurately store a number beyond 15 digits, so if you want your data in Excel as a number, it will be somewhat incorrect, and exponential is the most appropriate way to show it.

    To demonstrate, if in Excel you type 123456789123456789, Excel will display it as 1.23457E+17. If you then explicitly display it with a "Number" format, it will come out as 123456789123456000, so you can see you've lost the digits after the 15th.

    On the other hand, if you want it in Excel as character, which is the only way to present a representation of an 18 digit number, I think that your code is functioning correctly. Note that as soon as you try to execute numeric operations on it in Excel, however, it will revert to 15 digits of accuracy.

    How can I store the results of a SQL query in a excel/csv file?

    DB:2.78:Store Query Output In A Excel File? 8k

    Once it's in a single column in Excel, you can parse it out with Excel itself. Go to Data/Text to Columns, and follow the instructions; they're pretty self-explanatory. BTW, make sure you have the entire column of data selected when you run Text to Columns.

    DB:2.77:Output Whole Page To Excel kd

    In Marvel, there is a function 'CSV output' to output a region data to MS Excel. However, I would like to output whole page/multiple regions to MS Excel. Is there any good utility or way to do it? Thanks.

    DB:2.77:Output Whole Page To Excel kd

    we don't provide native support to allow you to dump whole pages to csv format. i'm assuming, by the way, that you're really just asking to see if it's possible to dump the contents of multiple report regions from a page to csv format. if i'm assuming correctly, the following trick/hack might work you:

    1) create your page with the multiple report regions on it.
    2) create another report region that returns the same data as your other report regions, but as one select statement.
    3) set that last report region to allow for csv download
    4) run your page and copy the url syntax for the csv download link that this last report region generates.
    5) set this last report region to Conditionally display "Never"
    6) add a link to your page that goes to the url you grabbed from your download link in step 4 (changing the hardcoded value for your particular session_id to the string "SESSION.")

    assuming you're happy with the way your region from step 2 dumped to csv format, the link just you've set up on your page should return those same results.

    hope this helps,
    raj

    DB:2.77:Missing Rows In Excel/Csv Output xp

    Hi
    Reporting Services SQL server 2008 - when a couple of large subscriptions are run that dump data to Excel/CSV several hundred rows of data are missing. The issue can be reproduced by copying/pasting from the results window in management studio, as well as
    exporting to .csv
    Only a tab delimited file seems to avoid the issue - however tab delimited is not an option for subscriptions and we are now forced to consider SSIS packages to output.
    It seems to be an Excel issue - I can see when editing in a text editor the number of rows in the CSV is correct, however when opened in Excel, there are several hundred rows missing.
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers

    DB:2.75:Moan About Reports Ability To Output To Excel zd

    Hi there

    This is more of a general moan on this topic, but am I the only person who thinks that Oracle Reports' ability to output to excel should be WAY better than it is at the moment?

    I've just looked at the 9i demo, showing how to get report output into excel. It was horrific - grubbing round in raw html code and setting up an Excel template with dummy data doesn't make Reports the slick reporting tool that we'd all like.

    Guys @ Oracle - have a look at Cognos Impromptu - I'm definitely no fan of Cognos, as I prefer to be able to define exactly what I want in SQL. However, one thing they have got right is the facility to save report output into formatted Excel - Oracle Reports should have this too!!

    At the moment, if I'm asked to produce a report in Excel format, I have to either use PL/SQL to generate a CSV file with the results I want, or Oracle Reports to produce a similar CSV file. I then have to open the CSV file in Excel and format it, change column widths etc, so that it looks presentable. If it's a regular-running report, I have to manually intervene every time the report is produced. Producing a similar report in Cognos (for all its faults) would require no manual intervention once it's set up, and the whole process can be controlled with macro language and the Cognos Scheduler.

    So please, improve this feature of Reports!

    DB:2.75:Moan About Reports Ability To Output To Excel zd

    Hello again

    All I'd like to be able to do is to write an Oracle Report and have the figures from the report delivered in an Excel spreadsheet. (A number of report users here specify that they want their reports delivered in this way.)

    Oracle Reports (I'm on version 6i) allows me to generate a .csv file which will open in Excel, but there's no formatting present. My point was simply that I have to manually intervene to produce a .xls which is formatted properly. In Cognos Impromptu, after the report has been run, you just select SaveAs-(input filename) and select 'Excel with Format' for SaveAs Type. The output is a pretty good approximation of how the output appears on the screen. You can run reports automatically using a scheduler, and with macro language, you can deliver the report in this format with no further intervention needed. If Cognos can do this, then so can Oracle!!

    Incidentally, I've noticed that every post on this forum which mentions Excel receives a plug from Lion Van for his RepExcel product. I had a look at his website and it looks pretty good - perhaps Oracle should approach him with a generous offer?! I'm not sure however that these forums should be used for advertising in this way.

    Best regards

    From OAF standpoint, it just exports the data. Data interpretation is completely dependent on client machine and excel setups.

    Please check the Data--Text to Columns wizard where we can specify the delimiter(s) on excel.

    Not sure if this can be set up in Apps, so that we need not change on every end-user machine.

    DB:2.74:Re: Capturing The Output Of A Jsp Page As Html dp

    You won't be able to "intercept" the output since it is the JSP page itself that is doing the writing.

    Will the file that you write the output to reside on the client side or the server side? It sounds like you want to receive the HTML output not as something to view on the browser, but a file you can save and send and use later. If this is the case, one technique that might work is to take advantage of the servlet name mapping feature that is available for registered JSP pages.

    Assuming your JSP pages are registered, you would map your JSP page like:

    servlet
    servlet-nameconfirmation/servlet-name
    jsp-fileconfirmation.jsp/jsp-file
    /servlet
    servlet-mapping
    servlet-nameconfirmation/servlet-name
    url-pattern/confirmation.out/url-pattern
    /servlet-mapping

    What happens is that a request for the URL /NASApp/myapp/confirmation.out gets mapped to the confirmation.jsp JSP page. If you set your MIME type correctly in the JSP page, the HTML output from the JSP page is not properly recognized by the browser causing it to prompt you to save the file.

    I have used this technique to generated CSV files from a JSP page. The browser is completely fooled.

    Hi,

    I have the same problem.
    My report shows data based on filters on page items.
    These page items have defaults which are correctly used when report is shown, however the CSV link does not return data.

    It seems that the page item has a session state for the report but not for the CSV link.

    The question is why is the default in session for the report on page opening and not for the CSV link?

    If I force a SUBMIT via pressing a button for example the default value apparently goes into session and the CSV link works.

    Hi. This fix works great, for the Suite 11.0. I have several 11.5's and the reg edit does not work. Are there other versions of this fix?

    Thanks!

    DB:2.73:Csv Page Header Appearing In Every Record ka

    I used the fix as suggested on my local machine where Crystal X! release 1 is installed. It did work for my own CSV file export. My problem is further complicated, however, as all my users execute Crystal Reports via Easy View, and the registry entries are different. I tried manually creating the exact reg entries given on the fix, but it did not change or fix the CSV file with the title-in-every-line problem.

    If you or your users are working with a full version of Crystal, I would expect the fix to work. I did have to manually create one of the final reg entries and edited the default value, so look at that part carefully.

    Good luck.

    DB:2.72:Debugging The Export To Csv Option.... 88

    On a couple of pages, the Export to CSV option is now returning an empty Excel Spreadsheet...

    What is the easiest way to debug something like this? I'm not sure what changed in the page to break this feature....

    Apex 3.2

    DB:2.72:Debugging The Export To Csv Option.... 88

    I'm not sure what his solution was, but I've the same problem when the native query returns no rows unless one or more bind variables are set. If your query depends on APEX values and those values have not been submitted to the session, I've hit cases when the report appears fine on the page, but does not export. I simply change the query so the bind variables default to the correct values inside the query using NVLs. This seems to solve the issue each time.

    Hi Members,

    I want to get output in text or CSV format for a XML report.In the template I can only find output options as PDF,EXCEL,RTF,XML etc.
    How to get output in text or CSV format?

    Thanks Regards,
    Ravi.

    DB:2.72:Text Or Csv Output For A Xml Report. za

    to get the output in csv or text format use eText templates. to test e text template from your local desktop. go to All program -Oracle Bi Pubilisher Desktop- Template Viewer.
    then it will open viewer window. then select your xml file and rtf folders. both xml file and rtf template should be place in one folder. then select output type eText and click start processing. u will get output in text format. this is how we can test on local machine. once it is success then upload the template to oracle and test from srs window.

    In Management Studio there are options to send your query results to text, grid, or file.  I would like to create a .csv file.  But when I pick results to file it creates a .rpt file.  If I then save the file as .csv it's not a csv file, it's binary.  How can I save the results of my query as a true .csv file?

    Why don't you use Database-Tasks-Export Data wizard and enter the source as your query and target as the csv file. I prefer this way of getting any data into the files than saving the query results.

    DB:2.72:Importing Web App Items 33

    Hi all, is there a way to insert a web app item into your web page based on the ExternalID number that I have created in my imported CSV file?

    I will be replacing the CSV file everyday. When you import the web items why does it randomly re-create a different itemID? I have set up my web page for reading individual web app item based on my first import but on day two those itemID's have changed. I want to control the output with the ID number created in the imported CSV.

    Any ideas?

    DB:2.72:Importing Web App Items 33

    The short answer is no, based on the information you provided. This is how webapps work. If you were to create all of your webapp items in the admin, and then export them, they would all have the webapp "item id" assigned as the "external id" in your spreadsheet. At this point you could upload a new spreadsheet on day 2, but you would have to keep the external id that was generated by the system intact. What would happen is all of the webapp items that were currently in the system will be overwritten with the new items on day 2's spreadsheet. If you were to upload a new spreadsheet with new "external ids" then new webapp items will be created along with new item ids, as long as there was not a duplicate external id in the system already, otherwise the duplicate will just be overwritten with the new information. This would satisfy your first question, however, this would be a manual process at the beginning. I must also note, that if you delete all of your webapp items in the system and then upload them again, then the system will generate new external ids which would cause new webapp item ids.Maybe you could be a bit more specific in what you are trying to accomplish, as well as the number of webpages, items per page etc. If it is a small number of items , maybe you should try using classifications instead.

    DB:2.70:Export Query Results To Csv That Includes Complext Text Not Being Preserved When Opening In Excel xk

    I am tyring to setup a job that does a few queries and emails the results as an email with a few attachments.

    So far, this part works. However, the output isnt something that is readily viewable in Excel.

    The query is hitting sys.dm_exec_query_stats , so one of the columns includes the text of various sql queries in that column.
    Something related to my formatting of the CSV file within the SSIS tasks is causing this.
    When I do the following - Run query in SSMS, copy/paste results into Excel, save as CSV, then re-open in Excel - the results look as expected. Everything is on seperate lines.

    My settings for the flat file connection manager

    What formatting setting(s) am I missing.

    DB:2.70:Export Query Results To Csv That Includes Complext Text Not Being Preserved When Opening In Excel xk

    Well, I figured it out.
    In the query that returns the column containing sql statements, I put the whole string wrapped with double quotes, then removed the Text qualifier and also had to remove my sample file, and re-create the flat file manager and mappings. Finally, its
    working
    :)

    If your changing the settings int he flat file manger, and you are keep the name the same, it will pick up the formatting within the existing file and some of the settings will get confused.

    DB:2.70:Output To Csv Problem 17

    Gang,

    Myself and at least one other poster on this forum have noted a condition (in HTML DB 1.6.1.00.03 for me) where if you try to setup a MRU page to output to CSV that you end up with a bunch of javascript appended to the end of your CSV data file when you run the export. Anyone from Oracle care to comment on whether this is a bug or are we doing something wrong?

    Setting up a regular tabular report page to output to CSV works fine.

    My in-elegant solution is to create an interim tabular report page, put a link to it on the MRU page that looks like the regular output to CSV link and then when the user clicks that link they go to the tabular report and they finally get to create the output from the second linked page. Not ideal, as you might imagine. Anyone got any ideas, suggestions?

    Earl

    DB:2.70:Output To Csv Problem 17

    Earl,

    the javascript code you saw is built in MRU region. I believe as a possible workaround you can try to move it into external javascript file and to see if this works. This requires changing page templates. Just an idea. I'm not sure this solves the problem

    Hi there~ I have a large cf application with about 100 people

    same as the html file they emailed to so and so.

    It seems that the attached html file is the page minus any
    variables that were sent to it; so it is never correct or just
    missing. How do I correct this via programming; or if that is not
    possible, how do I explain to my users why this ie feature will not

    DB:2.70:Ods Markup Destination And Frame= Option ca

    Hi there,

    I'm a little confused as to the proper file type (extension) to use when using the FRAME= option in combination with non-HTML tagsets like CSV and XML. For example:

    ODS destination: Markup

    Markup tagset: tagset = CSV

    FRAME= option: frame = myframe.htm? or myframe.csv?

    CONTENTS= option: contents = mycontents.htm? or mycontents.csv?

    PAGE= option: page = mypage.htm? or page = mypage.csv?

    ODS destination: Markup

    Markup tagset: tagset = XML

    FRAME= option: frame = myframe.htm? or myframe.xml?

    CONTENTS= option: contents = mycontents.htm? or mycontents.xml?

    PAGE= option: page = mypage.htm? or page = mypage.xml?

    I thought the frame= option always implies an HTML output. However, the documentation says the output could be an XML file containing a DTD (Document Type Definition)! Since setting the FRAME= option also requires setting the CONTENTS= option, the PAGE= option, or both, does it mean SAS is generating a "contents.xml" file for the contents and "page.xml" for the page output?

    Thanks for your clarification.

    Regards, Audi

    DB:2.70:Ods Markup Destination And Frame= Option ca

    Hi Cynthia,

    Many thanks for the clarification! Now I can see things much clearer.

    SAS needs to fix the documentation for the FRAME= option ASAP, especially on the RESTRICTION portion which states that if you use the FRAME= option, you also need to set the CONTENTS= option, the PAGE= option, or both. Specifying this restriction only to generate blank documents for them doesn't make sense.

    A FRAME implies a "structure" while a DTD "defines a structure" -- two different animals. The latter is a tool you use to validate XML documents. From my point of view as a user, SAS' decision to "reuse" the FRAME= option for its XML tagset is a poor architectural judgement.

    Thanks for your very informative response -- you're the best!

    All,

    As was pointed out in earlier replies, this is being caused by enabling PPR pagination. If PPR and CSV export are both needed, I would suggest using the pre-3.1 style PPR report templates. Those have the PPR stuff burned in directly.

    I had to make multiple changes, the most significant was having to add computations to 2 text fields that the query uses to filter results along with the check box.

    I also had to play around with other code that malfunctioned after defaults were dropped, computations added, conditions added....

    Since the problem itself was frustratingly intermittent, I'm not yet convinced that it's solved; my tester is trying to break it.

    Thanks much for your help.

    /p

    DB:2.68:Show On List Page (Attributes Missing From Results List) zp

    Hi All,

    I am having an issue introducing new properties to the search results list. I can see them in the endeca_jspref app with no problem.

    When I try to see them in the assembler.war pointing to the same Endeca app it is no where to be found (even in the format=xml response).

    I have no issues with the product details page. I can add any property from product-sku-output-config.xml, CSV and from dev studio as long as I flag it to "Show with Record".

    The only little success that I had with the results list page was by suppressing a property. I can then see in the app that it is gone.

    Is there anyone how can help me with this problem? Did you experience the same problem on your side?

    Thanks for your help.

    Luc

    DB:2.68:Show On List Page (Attributes Missing From Results List) zp

    Thank you both for your help.

    I did try to set fieldnames=nothing or to just add an harmless property but without success. If you don't specify the fieldNames property it will inherit what ever is specify in the ATG_INTALL_FOLDER\DAF\Endeca\Assembler\config\config.jar/atg/endeca/assembler/cartridge/handler/config/ResultsListConfig.properties

    But at least my problem is solved.

    Thanks again,

    Hi All,
    While spooling a query in to csv file from SQL PLUS, is there any possibilities to print the results in Bold and in different fonts.
    Thanks
    Hari

    DB:2.68:Spooling A Query In To Csv File x1

    Hello Hari,

    you can write a macro in excel that formats the heading in bold when opening a csv.

    CSV itself is only a file of Comma (or Character) Separated Values and has no information about the format of the content

    DB:2.68:Export To Csv Download Link Doesn't Work s1

    hi,

    I have done the following:

    If you click on the report link in your Region group
    for the page concerned, then select the Report
    Attributes tab and scroll down to Report Export you
    can change the Enable CSV Output to YES and update
    filename, separator etc.
    This will show a link on the report page at runtime
    that will allow the user to download the report in
    CSV format to a spreadsheetAnd when I click on the link to download the report, it tries to download the page in html format...

    any ideas on what the problem is?

    thanks!!

    DB:2.68:Edit Page;Report;Enable Csv Output;Apply Changes;Page Not Found;Wwv_Flow 97

    Hi,
    We have a really annoying error in our application, whereby we are unable to save ANY changes to report attributes if Enable CSV Output is Yes.

    I have many pages with Enable CSV Output set to Yes, and when run, the pages can indeed be exported to Excel, fine so far.

    However, if we do Edit Page, choose Report change Enable CSV Output to No, then apply changes the option is removed ok - BUT if we then set it back to Yes, when we apply changes again we get a Page Not Found error at this address ;

    http://sglas-sand.fm.rbsgrp.net:7780/pls/fdm_uat2/wwv_flow.accept

    We obviously dont need to keep changing this value, but the above demonstrates that our reports do currently support CSV output, but for some recent reason, trying to save a page where this option has been changed to Yes causes this crash.

    We also seem unable to change and save any other attribute when CSV Output is set to Yes. This leaves us in a tricky situation - unable to change our pages unless we are prepared to remove the Export option!

    We were wondering if the support of this this option requires any special processing / objects / etc to be availble / running. Any help greatly appreciated.

    I would suggest that you apply the 2.2.1 patch. It's very easy to apply and we might get lucky.

    DB:2.68:Write Japanese Characters To Csv 3j

    In my JSP I am doing the following
    head

    script type="text/javascript"

    var newWindow;
    function checkForCSVExport()
    {
    %
    String results = (String) session.getAttribute("EXCEL_FB_DATA") ;
    String URL = (String) Form.makeUrl(request,"/custom/jsp/search/load_csv.jsp");
    if(null != results)
    {
    out.println(
    "newWindow=window.open(\""
    + URL
    + "\", \"export\", \"toolbar=no,menubar=no,width=200,height=200,resizable=no\");");
    }

    %
    }

    /script
    /headthe String results contain comma seperated values with Japanese characters in them. We need to write these Japanese characters to CSV. For this we have a JSP page called load_csv.jsp. Here are its contents
    %@ page contentType="application/csv; charset=UTF-8" %
    %@ page import="com.components.search.SearchResultsFeedback"%

    %
    String strFBResults = (String)session.getAttribute("EXCEL_FB_DATA");
    String strFBHdr = (String)session.getAttribute("EXCEL_FB_HEADER");
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment;filename=searchresult.csv");
    %
    %=strFBHdr%
    %=strFBResults%this works fine for English characters but Japanese characters are displayed as junk characters in CSV. Please help.

    DB:2.68:Write Japanese Characters To Csv 3j

    Thanks for replying. I am using UTF-8 throughout.
    Also, there is an interesting thing that I observed. If I right click on the CSV file and select "Open with -- Word" then the word application asks me
    "Select the encoding that makes your document readable". If I select "Unicode (UTF-8)", Japanese characters appear perfectly fine. But why doesn't this happen in excel as that is also UTF-8 compliant since I can type japanese characters into the same excel file.

    DB:2.68:Exporting The Results Of A Query To A Csv File fx

    I need to create a vba function that will allow me to output the results from a query to a csv file. I can't use the "Saved Exports" function of 2010 because I need to dynamically create data for a few of the parts of the query. So I will have a saved
    query that I will change with code and then run the query and export the results. Can anyone point me in the right direction on this one?

    Hi,
    I have a csv file as shown below. I need to create an output csv file which will have only those TESTIDs where theCOUNT(UFMID) 100. I am using the following code and I am running into issues. Also there are some characters in the csv file which
    seems to be the issue.

    COUNT(UFMID)||'
    '||PLAZAID

    $Results = @()
    foreach ($P in $POSFile -as [Int])
    {
    $PL = $P.COUNTUFMID;
    $LN = $P.TESTID;

    Import-Csv 'C:\TESTReport.csv' | Where-Object {[int]$_.COUNTUFMID -gt 100} | Export-Csv -Path C:\TESTFinal.csv –NoTypeInformation
    }

    C:\TESTReport.csv is below

    COUNT(UFMID)||'
    '||TESTID

    -----------------------------------------------

    64
    3100

    59
    7501

    11
    1700

    16
    3420

    26
    7350

    121
    5211

    That is not a CSV file. It is some odd file with an inconsistent format. It cannot be imported with Import-CSV.
