    Im curious if anybody knows

Hi, Our iMX6 based custom board is up with Android JB 4.2.2_1.1 and I need to test the Sleep/ suspend and wakeup operation. In our board we have PMIC PFUZE100 and as our board configuration is closer to SABERLITE, I have to integrated the PMIC driver code. Now I need to test the Sleep and wakeup operation on our board.

I cud put the board to sleep from Android GUI-Settings-display-Sleep, but not able to wake the CPU from the sleep.

I would like to know what are the Android BSP functions called during the sleep and wakeup mode? and also what are the different SW/HW interrupts that are tested in the android BSP for wakeup .

Are there any documents/ application notes that could be reffered for Sleep and wakeup.

    Thanks

DB:3.18:Usb Device Does Not Wake From Suspend After Causing Remote Wakeup Of Surface sx

    Hello,
I have a USB device that supports Remote Wakeup of the host. It works great without a hub. I'm running on a Surface Pro 8.1 and when I push the sleep button on the surface and then activate my device to wake the host, the Surface wakes properly.
This is repeatable without the hub.
However, when I introduce the HUB, the device operates fine as long as I don't push the sleep button. The device also seems to operate fine if I press the sleep button again to wake the Surface. However, if I activate the device to 'remote wakeup'
the host (with the hub), the Surface does wake up, but the device seems to loose communications after that.

Looking at the traffic on the USB Analyzer it appears as if the PC sends a CLEAR FEATURE: Remote Wakeup to the device once the device wakes the PC, but that CLEAR FEATURE message is NAKd. I don't see the same issue without the hub.

Has anyone encountered this or know how to fix or workaround the issue?

    Thanks.

Some while ago I stumbled onto this article http://lwn.net/Articles/429925/ which tells that theres a clock that can wake your system from suspend. However I found no tool that would actually make use of it, thus I wrote one. Its pretty rudimentary but as they say, release early, release buggy.

So what does it do? It just sets up a timer that will wake your system from suspend (not hibernate) after the time set ran out. The syntax is a lot like sleep. Here is an example:
    $ ./wakeup 4h30m10s

    DB:3.16:[Wakeup] Testers Wanted. jz

strptime(3) is pretty much an analog to sscanf(3) and is meant for parsing well-known structured data. Youd have to reverse engineer (so to speak) the users intentions. At that point, you may as well just be parsing the string manually.

Be aware that the setting of how long time must pass before prompting for a password is required is a per-user setting, so if you need to change it from the default of 15 minutes, it must be for each user created on the system.

For me, I've set it to 1 minute rather than always for all users, as it's nice if after an accidential sleep a user can still resume immediately. But anything above that I have a password enforced.

I have been having a similar problem using Windows 7 Media Center. After a reboot, video and audio work fine. I have turned off/on Windows Media Features multiple times, and things seem to work for awhile. But, then both audio and video quit working. Video
will skip, and audio files won't play. I have also updated my Nvidia graphics driver. Today I started to try and narrow the problem down. It appears (still not 100% sure) this happens after the computer goes to sleep. When I saw this post it gave me reason
to hope this will fix my problem also. I am currently installing the LATEST Nvida driver (posted 11/26/09) and I also made the power saving option change. I am using a less than year old HP Quad processor and I have twice had to completely take the Nvidia
graphics card out and reset it because the computer refused to come out of sleep mode, no matter if I rebooted, etc, etc. Based on my previous sleep issues with the Nvidia card I have reason to be optimistic this will resolve my issue.

    Thanks for the article.

Hi I am having this problem too. This problem is rather random, sometimes my iMac is able to wake on pressing the keyboard or POWER button on the body, and sometimes it goes dead, and the only way is to cut the power and try to power on again. Sometimes, cutting the power isn't enough, in which cutting the power and turning on the mains again and pressing the POWER button results in no chime. I have to unplug, let it wait a miniute before trying to power again. Also another random issue is the screen going black, looks like an unexpected shutdown. Again, the way to resolve is to cut the power switch on the mains and try to power on the iMac again. My iMac the late 2012 27" model, running i7 3.4GHz processor and 3TB fusion drive configuration.

There is no difference if a connection is established or the device is in standby mode before sleep. When I reboot the computer it is there again, but for mobile usage I really need the sleep mode to extend the battery time. All Windows Updates are installed and I tried with the Lenovo system update, but everything is up to date. The only thing is, that "Windows Vista update modul KB948278 32bit" is not installed and installation fails every time.It seems to me that could be the reason for the behavior. So I tried to request the hotfix from Microsoft directly ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948278/en-us/ ) and I got the "Windows6.0-KB948278-v2-x86.msu".But installation fails with message: "Das Update gilt nicht für Ihr System" ( "The update is not valid for your system")Somebody any ideas?

    Hi,
    1. When did the issue occur?
    2. Do you remember any changes to your machine prior to the issue occurring?
    3. Have you installed the latest display and chipset drivers for your computer?
    Follow these methods:
Method 1: Open the Power troubleshooter
You can run thePower troubleshooter to adjust your computer's power settings. The Power troubleshooter checks things like your computer's
timeout settings, which determine how long the computer waits before turning off the monitor display or entering sleep mode. Adjusting these settings can help you conserve power and extend your computer's battery life.
    Method 2: Update drivers
Download and install the latest Windows 7 compatible display and chipsetdrivers from the manufacturer’s website and check if that fixes the issue.
For more information on updating drivers, seeUpdate drivers: recommended links
Method 3: Install Windows 7 Service Pack 1

I've had this issue for some time now on my 24" imac. On wakeup from sleep (boinc is the screen saver ) the login box takes a long time to appear then I click on the password box but the keyboard does not work I hear the dull thunk noise when I press a key the mouse still works. At one stage playing around I managed to get the option command esc dialogue box and finder was not responding. The only resolution of the problem is to restart with the power button.

I've looked around on the board and back in august someone posted a similar problem with long wait for login after sleep but he got no answer.

If anyone has any Ideas I would be grateful.

DB:3.02:Finder Appears To Be Dead On Wakeup kk

I wanted to update this issue as so many others are having similar problems.

I think this issue on my imac has been caused by my boinc software. I have changed the screensaver and the problem goes away.

In common with similar problems others are reporting the system log reports problems with launchd and com.apple.coreservicesd. This does seem to lead to problems with finder. Variously people report no login menu on waking from sleep bottom bar not working top menu bar not appearing, in addition when I have been able to get the command option esc menu it does not show any applications running.

As I said above I think mine is an issue with boinc I tried to update the client but when it came to authenticate the installer the same problem occurs.

Many people out there are having this problem I hope these observations can help some of them resolve their issues.

after some intensive research in the system-log i found it was a very small device that did this: USB (EHCI):Port 1 on bus 0xfd has remote wakeup from some device.
the hub had a sandisk micromate in use which i use to transfer fotos and films.

I've a Win 8.1 PC with an older ASUS Mobo with Intel P45 chipset and several internal Seagate and other makes SATA HDDs. One is Samsung green model, its controller puts the disk to sleep every 10min without Windows actions, so I disabled Turn Off Hard Disk
after X min setting in Windows Power Options, otherwise it shows problems. But still once the disk turns off, Windows pops-up a message like
One of your drives is showing problems....

Also after PC wakeup from Sleep, that particular drive disappears from Windows Explorer. Trying to rescan disks locks Win Device and Disk Managers. Even if the disk shows up after PC wakeup in Explorer, opening it locks Explorer, and its impossible to Eject
either. So I have to reboot to access the disk again, or Eject it before Sleep, and Rescan after wakeup. In Win7 the same disk works perfect for years.

I looked at installing original Intel Rapid Storage driver suitable for my Mobo controller and used on Win7, instead of default Win8 SATA driver. But there are web publications saying that reverting from iaStoreV.sys to older type iaStore.sys SATA drivers
may cause Win 8.1 system become non-operational, while newer Intel RST drivers are not optimized or unsuitable for older motherboards. Any suggestions?

DB:2.99:Why A Sata Hdd Wont Wake Up From Win 8.1 Sleep? 9s

    Hi Karen,
After choosing Off in Windows Power Options - PCI Express - Link State Power Management, the error One
of your drives is showing problems... no longer pops-up, and the disk is recognized and re-mounted after PC Wakeup from Standby. But... the disk no longer goes to sleep on its own following its controller command, despite been Green model and normally
stopping on its own after 10 min of no use. This is a problem, since its not designed for continuous 24/7 operation and will overheat.
Another issue is that Windows Power Options don't offer differentiated Spin control over hard disks, despite its a common case to use different disk models in the same PC. Some of the disks can be controlled by Windows to stop after certain inactivity
period, and some can only be stopped by internal controller, and show errors when stop is attempted by Windows. Is there a way to differentiate automatic spin stop control of different hard disks, possibly through Windows Registry settings or extra soft?

    Hi,

I have a Macbook Pro 10.6.4. The magic mouse has worked great since paired up. I closed the lid come back the next day open the lid and the magic mouse works fine.

Now since the last software update, the magic mouse says connected but is not responsive. I can click it, move it around, nothing. Turn the mouse on and off, nothing. If I disconnect manually using the touch pad, then simply click the mouse they pair up and work.

But it won't pari up and work when waking up from sleep.

Any thoughts. Yes I have rebooted.

    Thanks,
    - Mike

I experienced the same problem and it turned out to be something really simple. I was running off the battery. Apparently it shuts off the bluetooth to save power in sleep mode when running on battery powered. Hooked up the AC Adaptor and all was as before.

I have 4 2 TB Cariar Green internal drives. The recently purchased one disappears after Wake up. I am using a new install of XP SP3. It is not recognized by device manager or disk managment. I have to reboot to get it back. All Set in IDE mode, not AHCI in BIOS. All drives use identical drivers. Other similar machines with the same drives, no wakeup problems. Problem is repeatable and aggrivating.. Was there a firmware change lately?

Yes, they spool up similarly, not a bad idea there.

All right. This borders on "weird science projects".

It was a SATA port on my brand new ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen 3, go figure.

Thanx to a tech at WD suggesting a differential diagnosis trying that out.

Saved me transferring huge data all over again, but in the process I do like turning off the Intelipark-thingy.

    On to the next project.....

Problem: When I put this iMac into sleep, it wakes up automatically. Sometimes right away, sometimes few minutes later... I just did a clean install of snow leopard and updated everything via Software Update, but same problem. So, I'm guessing it might be a hardware issue?

This is a Sony Viao pro 13 SVP13215PSX. No the mouse and bluetoooth have not worked correctly from the first time I received the laptop. It still freeze. The major problem is now hte touch pad and the mouse loose the pointer on waking from sleep. If I use the power button to put the laptop to sleep when it wakes there will be no pointer of the touch pad, no mouse, no bluetooth. Usually a shift/turn off and then turn back on brings the touch pad and mouse back.

    Hello,

    OK with no password set.

    OK with hibernate.

Same problem with iastor and msahci driver.

Any ideas? Think that it is a problem with the bios. It drops the ssd when wakeup, even can not write a memory dump (error 0xc0000010), cold boot required.

DB:2.95: Tecra R950 With Intel Ssd 520 And Ssd Password Set = F4 Bsod After Wakeup m3

….and does the problem appears using the HDD which was equipped in this notebook?

If the BSOD would not appear using the HDD, then a problem is realalted to the inserted SSD drive.

In many cases firmware updates are released for SSD drives and in some cases this might be a solution.

Try doing a Hard Reset. You can do this by removing the battery and unplugging the AC Adapter. Then press and hold the power button on the laptop for about 30 seconds, then put the battery back in and plug in the AC Adapter and try turning it on again.

Illumination is disabled in bios setup and also via HWsetup. After reboot/wakeup, without touching the illumination on/of button, accessing the illumination tab in HWSetup, illumination is shown as off even though it is on. Touching the on/off button then toggles illumination to on without changing actual illumination on keyboard. Next touch toggles both to off.

This is not a major pain but very frustrating. Any ideas?

DB:2.95: Satellite U400 - After Bios Update The Illumination Turn On 19

    Hi

I think the issue could be related to the BIOS.

You should wait a little bit until new BIOS would be released and should update it.

In the meantime you could enable and disable the illumination in BIOS or Toshiba HWSetup which can be found in the Toshiba Assist

I've just about had enough now, to the point where I'm considering simply reinstalling the OS and starting from scratch but I thought I'd ask here first before doing so.

Firstly, my Mac won't simply go to sleep even though I have it set up in the Energy Saver to go to sleep after 10 mins (display sleep is 2 mins and this works ok).

When I then put the Mac to sleep manually it will sleep for a while and then randomly come back to life.

I've checked the console and the only thing that appears on wakeup is this:

    18/05/2010 23:50:14 StatusMenu[223] receiveSleepNote: NSWorkspaceDidWakeNotification

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I've zapped the PRAM and Repaired Disk Permissions but still the same problem exists.

DB:2.94:Detect Ac Changes While In Sleep Mode/After Wakeup sp

Hey guys, Im using acpid’s scripts to set some system settings when ac power is plugged in or out, but this obviously doesn’t work when the machine is sleeping. So, when I set my netbook into sleep mode, plug/unplug ac connection and wake it up again, it doesn’t notice the change and the acpid scripts aren’t executed as I they should.

Is there an easy way to detect ac changes right after waking up from sleep mode and run the acpid scripts accordingly or do I have to implement this myself somehow?

DB:2.94:Detect Ac Changes While In Sleep Mode/After Wakeup sp

Create a script and put it in /lib/systemd/system-sleep for sleep/wake, and I just create a small script and service file to determine its status at boot.

Check out /sys/class/power_supply/AC/online (your machine might label your ac adapter differently, so it may not be AC)

I have the same problem--seems the computer awakes at night and tries to access the internet after it crashes. I've checked Power Management but 'allow wakeup' is disabled and it isn't the Media Update Scheduler either. I don't have any printer drivers.

DB:2.94:Win 7 Also Crashes During Sleep With Bluescreen Locale Id 4105 Bc Code 9f cx

    Hi,

I see that you get blue screen on with error Locale ID: 4105; BC Code: 9f. I will help you with this issue.

1.What is the make and model of the computer?

2.Which security software is installed on the computer?

3.Did you make any changes to the computer recently?

Let us try these methods to check the status of the issue.

    Method 1.

Boot the computer in safe mode to check if the issue re-occurs.
Advanced startup options (including safe mode):
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

    Method 2.

I would suggest you to create a new power plan and check.
Change, create, or delete a power plan (scheme):
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-create-or-delete-a-power-plan-scheme

    Method 3.

I would suggest you to refer to this article and check if this helps.
Resolving stop (blue screen) errors in Windows 7:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Resolving-stop-blue-screen-errors-in-Windows-7

Important: System Restore will not revert any of the non-system files like documents, email, music, etc. to a previous state. These types files are completely unaffected by System Restore. If your intention with this tool was to
recover a deleted non-system file, try using a file recovery program instead of System Restore.

Important: While performing check disk on the hard drive, if any bad sectors are found, then check disk will try to repair that sector. Any data available on that sector might be lost.

Note: Re-installing Windows 7 will delete any programs you've installed and will restore the default Windows settings. You'll need to restore your user files, and reinstall any programs you've installed using the original installation
    discs or files.

Let us know if you need further help with any windows issue. We will be glad to help.
