    Why does Firefox try to load www.%1.com at startup even though the options are set to show the home page at startup and the homepage is set to default?

    This happened

    Every time Firefox opened

    == I downloaded Firefox for the first time.

    Morbus~ thanks for the reply.

    I stumbled upon the solution by chance. Here is what I did.

    I started in safe mode as you suggested and selected "disabled all add-ons", and the problem disappeared. Then I restarted in normal, disabled all addons and restarted. The problem was still there. I followed the link instructions for troubleshooting extensions and themes, and also the one for plugins. The problem was still there.

    I do have Malwarebytes installed and I ran that before asking for help. No infections there, but I will download the other programs for future use.

    So, here is the deal. I have a DellTouch keyboard and normally open Firefox by pushing the "home" button on the keyboard. (like I did with IE previously) But for whatever reason I decided to try opening Firefox from the start menu. The problem disappeared. I went into the control panel and checked the keyboard configuration and found the problem. I had to configured the "home" button to launch Firefox. Once that was done, the problem disappeared.

    All is well. Thanks again.

    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

    See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

    https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile

    There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools Add-ons Extensions Plugins" in case there are still problems.

    If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

    That type of site is trying to get people to install malware, they are typically aimed at Windows users. The alerts are typically bogus and it will appear to scan your computer and show some infections. Those scans will look like a Windows scan even though you are on a Mac.

    To ensure you are clean try running a full scan with your anti-virus program.

    This would be a very quick feature to add that would be very helpful to those of us coming from Firefox:

    In Firefox (and I think IE) there is a keyboard shortcut that adds "www." to the beginning and ".com" to the end of what is typed into the URL address field. How it works in Firefox:
    1. Type domain core in address field, i.e., "apple"
    2. Press command and return at the same time, this changes the address field to "www.apple.com" and submits the address to the browser.

    This is a quick and easy shortcut that I am missing very much when using Safari.

    DB:2.47:Safari Feature Suggestions zz

    I just went and type apple in the address field, hit Enter, and voila I was at www.apple.com. I tried a few others and they worked too.

    Hey Cees.Verloop,

    So you are saying that Firefox crashes as soon as it starts? Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? You can do this by holding down the Shift key while Firefox is starting. If it starts in Safe Mode, you should check out Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems. There are also lots of good troubleshooting steps in the Knowledge Base article Firefox crashes - Troubleshoot, prevent and get help fixing crashes.

    If you open a bookmarked page the Firefox will try to open that URL.
    If you manually create a bookmark that needs a fix up to be able to connect to that website (i.e. the initial DNS look up fails maybe because you block it) then Firefox will do this fix up.

    Hello,

    i have a problem with the UI part while trying to install one of the Bpel demos : LoanDemoPlus (i have the same problem with LoanDemo and LoanDemoPlusWithWorkflow)

    Environnment :
    Linux 2.6.n AND I586 XP SP2 (french languages)
    BPEL : 10.1.2 with required patchs (as described on OTN)

    While compiling the demo LoanDemoPlus using obant.sh, the following errors occured : (see the transcript below)

    it seems that the generated code by shemac doesn't compile whith the java compiler.

    i have managed to copy the ear from another environnement (english language settings) where the compilation error does not happened and deploy and run it successfuly
    Also, the jsp from the tutorial 102.InvokingProcesses is working perfectly.

    This is not a solution because i will have to create real projects and to deploy it from scratch within my original environment.

    How to fix this issue please ?

    Hi,

    I have the same error.

    My environment is Windows XP SP2 (french language too). I use the JBoss version.

    The compilation error comes from a class generation malfunction in the getCreditRating() method of the class LoanApplicationType.

    The generated code is as following :
    public int getCreditRating()
    {
    java.lang.String childValue = super.getChildElementValue( "creditRating", "http://www.autoloan.com/ns/autoloan");
    if( childValue != null ) {
    int value = com.collaxa.cube.xml.schema.XMLSchemaUtils.parseInt( childValue);
    return value;
    }
    throw new java.util.NoSuchElementException("Le noeud "{http://www.autoloan.com/ns/autoloan}creditRating" n'existe pas dans XML, vrifiez le contenu XML de l'objet de faade. Pour accder au contenu XML, appliquez la mthode toString() l'objet de faade.");
    }

    The string passed as a parameter to the NoSuchElementException method is not correct.

    Have you got a workaround to this problem ?

    Christian

    myprepaidrefill.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid or www.myprepaidrefill.com (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

    ATT should change the https certificate so it applies to the site without "www." as well, or change the link in the text message so it starts with www.

    The workaround is to add "www." to the URL, or accept the risk.

    It could be helpful if there is a diagnostic program/add-on which control all

    installed add-ons.

    It could even be helpful If I can type/write more as 1500 characters in a

    message, because I have to tell my story (Mozilla problems) and I want to
    place the output of the 'terminal' (Sessionstore) in the same message.

    It even shall be helpful if there is a list (like in the early days of the Windows-

    browser), where I can find the description and/or the solution of the Firefox- errors. My terminal give me p.e. this output : (firefox:10353): Gtk-CRITICAL
    **: IA__gtk_clipboard_set_with_data: assertion `targets != NULL' failed;
    Firefox: 10353 says me nothing, so..... there are errors enough, but the
    crashes don't come from the browser. I have taken all steps, my last is to
    re-install FF24 about:blank, vdpau.... e.s.o

    If I place a message here I can only put a picture-file, not a text or Gedit-file.

    I have a textBox and I want to be able to click a button and go to the web address that I entered into the textBox.  If I forget to type www. or .com at the beginning and end though, it crashes.  I would like the application to catch this.  Is this possible?  I tried working out an if statement, but no matter what I try it doesn't seem to work.  I'm very curious if this can be done.  I could add the www. and .com, but I would rather not just do it that way...Thank you very much,

    DB:2.33:Can I Check To Make Sure That Text In A Textbox Meets A Certain Format? zc

    Try this:
    string a = textBox1.Text;
    if(!a.Contains(.com) || !a.Contains(.org) || !a.Contains(.net) || !a.Contains(.ca))
    {

    MessageBox.Show(It looks like you have an incorrect web address!!!!);
    }
    else
    {

    webBrowser1.Navigate(a);
    }

    I am sure you can see how you could take that kind of code and fit it to a lot of situations.  Strings can do a lot of things like:

    (string) a.Replace(), a.Remove(), a.Substring(), a.Contains(), a.IndexOf().
    You might want to google those or something, but they are pretty self explanatory.

    Thanks,

    www will be added automatically, however if I start to type a word I will also get a suggestion in the url bar. Sometimes the autocomplete stops the .com from being added. Does it happen if you Remove websites from the Awesome Bar suggestions and type in the key word by itself?

    Okay so with IE and Firefox there is a way to just type in the main part of the domain such as google then hit a key combo and it automatically puts in the www. and the .com is there a way to do that with Safari?

    DB:2.33:Key Combo To Automatically Put In Www And .Com? pp

    Sorry...lost track of this thread.

    There is no keyboard shortcut built-into Safari that resembles Firefox's for adding .com etc. You can possibly create your own keyboard shortcut via Keyboard MouseKeyboard shortcuts in your System Preferences.

    Here's guidance from Apple about how to go about creating the shortcut:

    Choose Apple menu System Preferences and click Keyboard Mouse. Then click Keyboard Shortcuts.
    Click the Add button.
    Choose an application from the Application pop-up menu. If you want to set the same key combination for a menu command that appears in many applications, choose All Applications.
    If the application you want to select does not appear in the list, choose Other and locate the application using the Open dialog. Some applications may not allow you to set keyboard shortcuts.

    Type the menu command for which you want to set a keyboard shortcut in the Menu Title field.
    You must type the command exactly as it appears in the application menu, including ellipses and any other punctuation. (An ellipsis is a special character that looks like three periods. To type an ellipsis, you can press Option-semicolon (;). Or use the Character Palette. It may be difficult to tell whether the command is written in the menu with a real ellipsis or with three periods, so if one does not work, try the other.)

    Click in the Keyboard Shortcut field and press the key combination that you want to assign to the menu command, and then click Add.
    You cannot use each type of key (for example, a letter key) more than once in a key combination.

    Quit the application for which you added or changed a keyboard shortcut.
    Restart the application to see the keyboard shortcut in the application's menu.

    DB:2.30:Firefox 19.0.2 Gives An Error Warning For All Mijndomein.Nl Websites. Firefox 18 Does Not Give Any Problems. 73

    Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

    "Clear the Cache":

    Firefox Preferences Advanced Network Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

    Firefox Preferences Privacy Cookies: "Show Cookies"

    You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History Show All History" or "View Sidebar History") or via the about:permissions page.

    Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.

    You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

    It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

    for me it is similar, but i'll give specific web links for my example:
    go to mlb.com (its major league baseball)
    that address used to work just like i typed above. now it takes 5 minutes (no exaggeration) to load!
    however if i press the "X" to stop the page load and then the reload icon it loads immediately... at first i thought i had a workaround by changing my bookmark link to WWW.mlb.com - that worked. but from the mlb web site there are sub links, that when clicked on give me the same massive delay, and if i attempt to enter a www prefix, i get a page error message.
    this never was a problem before.
    i am using winXp
    also.. if i click on the same site using a competitors browser, (IE) i have no problems... and no, i don't want to use IE as i have preferred FF since day 1 :)

    Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

    Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html

    If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

    Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.

    Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

    (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

    It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

    Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

    I've just joined BT broadband and when I type in www.bt.yahoo.com in the address bar I get a Firefox error saying that it cannot find the server at "login" but if I try https://login.yahoo.com it works fine.

    It (www.bt.yahoo.com) works in IE and Chrome, what's up with FF?

    Okay,

    Pretty much since it was launched, I have used "WhereIs Navigator" by Garmin on most of the devices it has been available on over the years... For Android, it is branded as (named) "Garmin Navigator" in the Google Play Store, but branded as (named) "WhereIs Navigator" within the actual application.

    This is the same service that has always been around, has a subscription fee and has always been referred to by Telstra (online, in print, etc...) as "WhereIs Navigator".

    Here's the Google Play Store entry:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.garmin.android.obn.client

    But the other day, I discovered (quite by accident too!) that Telstra are now offering another navigation application - this one branded as (named) "WhereIs Navigator" in the Google Play Store - for free!

    Here's the applicable Google Play Store entry:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.com.sensis.whereis

    First things first - I have to know, what is the thought process behind this?

    I mean, Telstra actively promote the Garmin version of WhereIs Navigator... And then offers this for free? Is there a plan behind this (e.g. discontinue the Garmin version) or what?

    This first question I only ask purely out of curiosity...

    But my second question is the important part - why would I pay for the Garmin version of WhereIs Navigator, when I can get the "new" WhereIs Navigator - which appears to be almost identical - for free?

    Am I missing something here?

    --

    Edit:

    Both applications are shown in the Google Play Store when one searches for "telstra", too:
