    DB:3.05:Calculated Member ka

    I'm trying to add a calculated member to my SSAS 2005 cube. I can calculate what I want using MDX, but I'm having trouble converting my MDX query to the something SSAS understands as a calulated measure.

    This is my MDX query.

    DB:3.05:Calculated Member ka

    I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. We are making it hard for the calc engine, telling it that this measure is the sum of itself. Normally I would do an approach like the following.

    Is the calulated member evaluated? or does the NEB recursive fall back to the NEB of the specified calculated Member?
    Or is it simply wrong?

    We're experiencing Performance Issue (retrieving 40000 rows) with Crosstab Reports Using Disco Viewer 10.1.2.48.18 ( 01 Minute , executing "Building Page Axis" or executing a Refresh).

    Are there parameters to tun (in pref.txt file) , in order to reduce "Building Page Axis" execution ?

    Note : We've got the same performance problem , using Discoverer Desktop 10.1.2.48.18.

    Thank's in advance for your Help.

    DB:2.93:Performance Issue With Crosstab Reports Using Disco Viewer 10.1.2.48.18 fc

    Hi
    Well if the same issue occurs in both Desktop and Viewer then you have your answer. It's not the way that Discoverer is running the workbook its the way the workbook has been constructed.

    For a start, 40000 rows for a Crosstab is way over the top and WILL cause performance issues. This is because Discoverer has to create a bucket for every data point for every combination of items on the page, side and top axes. The more rows, page items and column headings that you have, the more buckets you have and therefore the longer it will take for Discoverer to work out the contents of every bucket.

    Also, whenever you use page items or crosstabs, Discoverer has to retrieve all of the rows for the entire query, not just the first x rows as with a table. This is because it cannot possibly know how many buckets to create until it has all the rows.

    You therefore to:
    a) apply sufficient filters to reduce the amount of data being returned to something manageable
    b) reduce the number of page items, if used
    c) reduce the number of items on the side or top axis of a crosstab
    d) reduce the number of complex calculations, especially calculations that would generate a new bucket

    If you have a lot of complex calculations, you should consider the use of a materialized view / summary folder to pre-calculate the values.

    Does this help?

    DB:2.77:Crosstab Use Grand Total Value In Calulation With A Calculated Member Value d8

    Hi

    I have had help with a crosstab to create a calculated member column that sums values from selected columns in the crosstab. The column is called Sum of Conv (see example below)

    I would like to create another column to the right hand side of the Sum of Conv column which calculates the percentage converted ie ( the Sum of Conv value divided by the Grand Total value) x 100. This will replicate the calculation currently in the crosstab on a per month basis but as an overall conversion rate for the period selected.

    How should I reference these values in a new calculated member? Or will I need another calculation formula in the new calculated member which calculates the Sum of Conv value again to then divide by the Grand Total value?

    Thanks

    It is added immediately alongside the Sum of Conv column on the right hand side (ie starting with Grand Total on left hand side of crosstab then Sum of Conv then % Conv (the new percentage column) - have attached snapshot.

    DB:2.72:How To Reference A Header Title In A Calculated Member Formula? da

    Hi Colin,I'm surprised there isn't a way to access the value of a 'calculated member' row in another calculated member row using the usual GridRowColumnValue() function (and other functions).It works if we hard-code the rowindex of the calculated row however, that isn't obviously the best way to do this. While you can access values of other 'existing' rows using the following way:GridRowColumnValue(GetIndexOf("Group Alias", "Value"), currentcolumnindex, currentsummaryindex)this does not seem to work when you place the RowValue of a calculated row in the above code.The GetIndexOf() for a calculated row works everywhere except the 'Calculation Formula'!Could you share the updated report, if possible, and I'll see if there is any other workaround.-Abhilash

    Hi,

    Requirement Detail:
    -------------------
    I have Income, Direct Expenses and Indirect Expenses as three dimension members on the ROW_EDGE axis of my crosstab. Note that these are not measures - they are categories of transactions appearing as dimension members at a certain level of a dimension hierarchy.

    I wish to insert three custom calculation rows at the bottom of the crosstab:
    (1) Income - Direct Expenses
    (2) Direct Expenses + Indirect Expenses
    (3) Income - Direct Expenses - Indirect Expenses

    I have looked at the TotalStep class, but it looks like this will only perform aggregate functions across all dimension members rather than selected ones. It also looks like only one TotalStep is allowed for each query.

    Any help is very much appreciated.

    DB:2.67:Out Of Sync When Filtering Via Context Menu a3

    Hi,

    With context menu in crosstab, one has the possibility to filter crosstab via options Keep Member, Keep Member on Axis, Filter Members Filter Member and Swap Axis. Those filters are applied to the filter panel (the component that crosstab is being bind to as Data Source) in the background without being explicitly applied.

    However, those filters are not passed to the main application prompt filter. So, if one opens the Prompt, those values are missing.

    Moreover, since those filters are not explicitly applied anywhere, the charts, being Target Data Source of the Filter Panel, would not get filtered. As a result, there is no interaction between the crosstab filtering via context menu and the filtering of the chart. I do not see any way to bridge that interaction.

    Any one has ideas?

    Best regards,

    DB:2.65:Cell Editing mc

    cell editing not working for the crosstab,i'm using setcelleditingallowed(true) method of crosstab even then it's not working.
    Can any one help me on this thing.
    thanks in advance

    DB:2.65:Cell Editing mc

    Here is some information on Cell editing for you:

    There is a GridView boolean property, CellEditingAllowed, which controls whether the Crosstab or Table Beans provide cell-level editing GUI in the Databody. For example, if you have a Crosstab instance m_crosstab, you can run the following code to turn on editing:

    m_crosstab.setCellEditingAllowed(true);

    When the Crosstab or Table goes to write back the value, it calls the setValue method on the underlying DataAccess instance. If you are implementing your own data source, you can hook your custom code into your implementation of setValue. You can also consider implementing the setAutoSubmit, isAutoSubmit, submitChanges, and dropChanges methods in the oracle.dss.util.DataAccess interface if your application needs to provide bulk updates.

    The BI Beans implementation of the OLAP Data Source provides a DataAccess implementation that implements setValue (and submitChanges, dropChanges, etc.) Therefore, if you are working with our OLAP implementation, then you can retrieve the Crosstab's DataSource property (of type oracle.dss.util.dataSource), cast it to an oracle.dss.dataSource.common.Query instance (i.e., our OLAP implementation), and then add yourself as a QueryListener. The QueryListener will get a CellsSubmittingEvent with the list of updates to be processed. Alternatively, you can process the CellOverridingEvent or the CellOverriddenEvent if you want to capture edits on a cell-by-cell basis.

    In the current release, the Query does not fire a CellsSubmittedEvent because the OLAP Data Source does not support writeback to the underlying data store. We are looking at providing native writeback support for Analytic Workspaces (similar to OEO) in a later release.

    Please note that there are differences in the current level of writeback support between the Java and HTML Crosstabs. Both the Java and HTML Crosstabs honor the cellEditingAllowed property. However, the HTML Crosstab does not currently call the setValue method of the corresponding DataAccess, so the underlying Query will not fire any events; it is up to the HTML application to process the updated values on the submitted page. On the other hand, the HTML Crosstab does allow for rule-based control of which cells are editable.

    You'll find the various classes and interfaces for writeback in the JavaDoc for the oracle.dss.dataSource.common package.

    ?max ($G1[(./CRITERIA_ID=current()/CRITERIA_ID)]/THRESHOLD)?
    but this gives an error.
    Is is possible to display a char value?

    Hi,

    My crosstab summarizeds the counts of various products acorss each month. I was able to use the calculated memeber feature and add an additional column in the crosstab with gives the summarized value as of previous month.

    GridValueAt(CurrentRowIndex, GetColumnPathIndexOf(), CurrentSummaryIndex) - GridValueAt(CurrentRowIndex, CurrentColumnIndex-1, CurrentSummaryIndex)

    But when i make changes to the query by filtering out some months, the calculated member column is disapperaing. Is this the standard behavious? I want to make sure that the calculated member column will not cause an issue when we ahve new data next month. Can anyone please help me with this.

    Has anyone managed to get hold of some good documentation / examples and wouldn't mind to share it?

    The Feature sample from Crystal Report 2008 only have Calculated Member. There is not much information on Embeded Summary. Also, I hope to understand all those "Grid Value" formulas.

    DB:2.59:Analysis Functions To Determine Totals And Scaling Factor Display Status s7

    I've been using SAPGetCellInfo via VBA to try and determine the properties of specific cells within the Crosstab. I'm using Analysis for Excel 1.4.0.2528, which I think is the pre-SP1 release of v1.4.

    In order to distinguish between cells, I'm calling SAPGetCellInfo twice, as follows:

    S = Application.Run("SAPGetCellInfo", rngMyCell, "SELECTION")

    D = Application.Run("SAPGetCellInfo", rngMyCell, "DIMENSION")

    By inspecting the contents of S and D, I can usually determine whether a cell is a Dimension Cell, a Member Cell or a Data Cell, and what the associated dimensions are, but things get ambiguous when the Crosstab has Totals and/or Scaling Factors displayed.....

    The Analysis ribbon lets you set whether Totals are Shown, Hidden or Hidden when there's only 1 member, for each dimension, and whether those totals appear before or after the dimension members. However, I don't seem to be able to programtically read/write what those "Totals-Display" settings are for each dimension, and so I can't be certain if a Data Cell is a Total, other than by checking the name of the style that is applied to the cell. That is, when calling SAPGetCellInfo on a cell that is a total (of a ROW, or a COLUMN, or both), the list of dimensions that is returned by Application.Run("SAPGetCellInfo", rngMyCell, "SELECTION") doesn't include the dimensions that are being totalled.

    For example, my Crosstab has 1 Dimension AND Measures over rows, and 2 dimensions over columns. When calling Application.Run("SAPGetCellInfo", rngMyCell, "SELECTION"), if the queried cell is:

    1) A total of row dimensions, and a total of column dimensions, then ONLY the measures dimension is returned.

    2) A member of a row dimension, and a total of column dimensions, then ONLY all of the row dimensions are returned

    3) A total of row dimensions, and a member of the column dimension, then ONLY all of the column dimensions PLUS the measures dimension are returned

    4) A member of a row dimension, and a member of a column dimension, then ALL row AND ALL column dimensions are returned

    I suppose I could use SAPListOfDimensions to determine the ROWS and COLUMNS that should be present when I call SAPGetCellInfo on a data cell, and then assume that those missing dimensions mean that the cell is a total over the missing dimensions.... But that seems like an unreliable solution, not least because the Scaling Factor settings introduce a further complication, as per below....

    The Analysis ribbon also lets you set whether Scaling Factors are shown for measures. However, there doesn't seem to be any way to programatically read/write what that setting is, and so I can't be certain if a cell is a Data cell total or a Scaling factor. When calling SAPGetCellInfo against a Scaling Factor cell, only the Row dimensions are returned, or in other words, the SAPGetCellInfo return value is exactly the same as a data cell that is a total over columns.

    For example, using the same Crosstab as above, and again calling Application.Run("SAPGetCellInfo", rngMyCell, "SELECTION"), if the queried cell is:

    1) A total of row dimensions, and is a Scaling Factor column, then ONLY the measures dimension is returned (same result as 1 above)

    2) A member of a row dimension, and is a Scaling Factor column, then ONLY all of the row dimensions are returned (same result as 2 above)

    Am I missing something, or is there a way I can reliably distinguish between a Scaling Factor cell, a Data Cell and a Total Data Cell, and what the actual dimensions of those cells are, even if some or all of those dimensions are totals? Is there a programmatic way to get or set the Totals display and/or Totals placement on a dimension, or the Scaling Factor display settings for a crosstab?

    DB:2.58:Exists Function Doubt Mdx Calculated Member 9d

    Hi Hemanth,try this:
    Sgn(
    Count(
    Filter( [Tax Discount Dim].[Product Id].members,
    [Tax Discount Dim].[Product Id].CurrentMember.Name = [Product Dim].[Product ID].CurrentMember.Name
    )
    )
    )
    Sgn() is a VBA function, it can replace iif/case logic. If count is greater than 0, it will give you 1. Else 0. Negative numbers shouldn't occur, Count() returns only positive ones or zero.Consider making a better OLAP design by providing property Tax with values yes/no as an attribute of Product Dim. In that case you could just ask for currentmember property of current Product in context which is much faster.Hope it helps,Tomislav PiasevoliBusiness Intelligence Specialistwww.softpro.hr

    I am working in a database which was originally created in Access 2007 I believe. I am using Access 2010. I am trying to run a query that in part pulls data from a crosstab query which is a sub query of it. I have been running the query in Access 2010 for

    Thanks to everyone. I knew this was going to be an easy thing to do but I'm surprised that no one was able to give me a direct and straight answer even though Igor and others did provide some useful clues.
    It was indeed very easy:
    1. I created a New DataSet, dsOpeningBal with a single column (LineTotal) and single parameter (opBalStartDate)
    2. I set the Default value of the opBalStartDate to the startDate parameter of the main DataSet
    3. I also set the Available Value property of the opBalStartDate as StartDate
    4. This ensures that the opBalStartDate is the same as the startDate at all times
    5. I then used the following Expression to set the value of the TextBox:

    =Sum(Fields!LineTotal.Value, dsOpBal)

    And that did it!
    I will write a blog on this later to assist others with similar problems.
    I'm really disappointed that more than four days of Googling and Binging and over 6 related questions in different Forums could not help me out of a very simple question like this.

    DB:2.52:How To Summarize On Multiple Cross Tabs 8s

    Dear Sirs/Madams

    I have created a report in which I am using 2 queries.

    For each query I have created a crosstab which looks like this:

    Crosstab Query 1

    Jan 2010 Feb 2010

    -

    Keyfigure 1 X1 X2

    Keyfigure 2 Y1 Y2

    -

    Crosstab Query 2

    Jan 2010 Feb 2010

    -

    Keyfigure 1 Z1 Z2

    Keyfigure 2 A1 A2

    -

    I created a 3rd Crosstab in which I want to summarize (I created formulas for this):

    B1= X1+Z1

    C1= Y1+A1

    D1=X2+Z2

    E1=Y2+A2

    The query would look like this then:

    Crosstab Query 3

    Jan 2010 Feb 2010

    -

    Keyfigure 1 B1 D1

    Keyfigure 2 C1 E1

    -

    However, the values coming through are not correct.

    Did anyone have this problem as well?

    If so, how did you solve this?

    Is there a way to solve this issue?

    Thanks in advance for your replies.

    Hi

    I am trying to create a column that will provide a total based on selected columns in the crosstab.

    The crosstab has two columns, first a date time field the second a text field based on a formula.

    The date time field is a parameter set by the user running the report so may be a single month or multiple months, summarised by month.

    The formula field provides an outcome of either "Conv" or "Enq". There is a single row based on user name.

    There is a calculated member column which calculates the percentage of Conv items.

    I would like to create a column which gives the Total (sum) for all "Conv" columns in the report.

    Please can you give me any pointers. I am using Crystal Reports 2011 (not XI).

    Sorry you I did not explain it clearly. You can not use a Crosstab or Crosstab wizard. You create a report that looks like a crosstab report but is not using the crosstab wizard.

    The Report Design team have samples that you can use so I suggest you ask them.

    Again, there are no API's to get into a crosstab, only to set the properties of the object itself.

    DB:2.47:Discoverer Olap: Graph Data Label Format Inconsistent z8

    Hi,

    I am using Discoverer OLAP and created a crosstab with graph in the same sheet. I am trying to format the display of data labels on graphs to be consistent with the format on the crosstab.

    Eg. Crosstab has format for a measure as Percent (with % displayed) but in graph, the data label still display the actual data value, i.e. 0.15 instead of 15% as shown in crosstab.

    Anyone has experience on this or help to answer how I can change that so that the graph is not confusing to users and consistent especially with both crosstab and graph on the same page?

    Thanks in advance!

    Priscilla

    DB:2.47:Discoverer Olap: Graph Data Label Format Inconsistent z8

    Hi Priscilla.

    This is same for both Plus and Plus OLAP.

    Graph values don't respect format of the values in underlaying table.
    Table's 15% is displayed as 0.15 in graph, table's 15 is displayed as 15.00 in graph!!

    In many situations Discoverer is a very poor tool. Unfortunately these "small details" are usually very important for the end users (Often it is the first thing the end user noticed)!!

    If I am wrong and anybody knows a solution please let us know.!
    Thnaks.

    I am developing cubes on a machine with SQL server 2005 SP1.
    It involves some calculated measures. all the code for calculated members is syntactically correct and there were no compilation / processing erros. But when i browsed the cube..there is no data. I checked all the tables involved in the cube and getting the data. cube is having only default partition.
    When i investigated and I have deleted below member (which is not really calculating any thing, that have below code) and processed, I am able to browse the data.
    -----------------
    /*
    The CALCULATE command controls the aggregation of leaf cells in the cube.
    If the CALCULATE command is deleted or modified, the data within the cube is affected.
    You should edit this command only if you manually specify how the cube is aggregated.
    */

    ---------------
    How does this default calulated member effects data in the cube. Is it must to have this member? OR is this bug in AS 2005 with SP1?? And one more thing, When i opened calculations window, BIDs is getting hanged till kill the process.
    Thanks in advace

    Having a single CALCULATE statement is your cube script is necessary to tell Analysis Services that it needs to perform baisc calculation function for all measures.It is not a bug, it is intended behavior.

    Your measures are being evaluated under the current context of the underlying cell. When you're including DESCENDANTS(
    [Calendar].[Fiscal Calendar].[Fiscal Year Key].[2009]
    ,[Calendar].[Fiscal Calendar].[Fiscal Month Key]
    ,SELF_AND_AFTER)
    in the row axis and the [Calendar].[Fiscal Calendar] hierarchy in the definition of the measures, they ain't evaluating the way you think they're being evaluated. Try defining the measures as ([Calendar].[Fiscal Calendar].[Fiscal Quarter Key].[2009][1],
    [Measures].[Trading Revenue]) rather than using the descendants function. Additionally, make sure that every hierarchy referenced in the rows hasa relationship defined with the measure group that the Fees, Advances, etc measures are related.

    DB:2.47:Crosstab Query Drops Row 1z

    As Wolfgang mentionned it, the rows, in the result, depend on the GROUP BY clause. If two original rows are part of the SAME GROUP, you will get just one of them, and the field will be aggregated (by FIRST, or SUM, or COUNT, or AVG). If you want two rows
    in the result, be sure to definethe group such that they are in two distinct group. If you have a primary key, making it part of the GROUP will produce a row in the result for each row in the original table.

    Hi again,
    Heavily experimenting with crosstab queries containing parameters I discovered a small problem where I cannot create a report when the crosstab query contains declared Parameters. Without a Parameter declaration it works just fine. Using the report wizard,
    for example, will not allow me to select any fields based on the crosstab for my report which will not allow me to nicely display crosstab generated data. I'm sure I overlooked something and would appreciate an idea to straighten me out.

    Try searching on 'Dynamic Report Fields' or 'Reports for Crosstab queries'. Duanne Hookom has information on these on the web.

    Does this mean that you can't create reports from your crosstab query with parameters?

    Add a new chart object and choose as chart type the pivot table (top right of the Chart Type icons). Add Product and Year.Period as dimensions and something like sum(Qty) as expression. Next you'll have to drag the Year.Period dimension to the right above the expression. When you see a horizontal blue line let go and the Year.Period dimension should now display horizontally. On the Presentation tab of the properties window you can select both dimensions and enable the option Show Partial Sums.

    My data provides multiple TEXT values per unique "cell" in a pivot or crosstab. Questions:
    In crosstab how can I display all the text values, not just first,last, max? In the pivot table view I can indeed see the multiple text data values "per cell", but not in crosstab.
    In pivot table display can I repeat the aggregate row values (on the left, not the data)? In Access 2007 the product does a neat display of not repeating those values, but I have unique need to repeat them on every row. I hear Access was going to provide
    this for 2010.
    Ultimately this data is going back into Excel-- I am using Access only because Excel doesn't display text values in pivots.

    You can concatenate multiple values into a crosstab values using the generic concatenate function found at

    http://www.rogersaccesslibrary.com/forum/generic-function-to-concatenate-child-records_topic16.html.

    I'm not sure if Excel can query this directly or if you would need to push the results into a temporary table first.

    I'd like to use a crosstab to show the percentages of some row totals.

    For example, we are analysing timesheets to see what % of each staff member's time is spent working for a particular major client. We'd like a table which shows the %s for each month (columns) for each staff (rows).

    I can do this easily using groups in the report, but the percentage is based on the totals for the month/staff and hence can't be used in a crosstab.

    Any ideas?

    The month % is based on month for client % month total for staff.

    Hi Slavek,

    Why are you using a CachedDataSource? Are you using Portal?

    You can retrieve data directly from the DataAccess object.
    For detailed description of the DataAccess interface please refer to the following help topic:

    Structure of a DataAccess Object

    Here is the path in the BI Beans Help:
    Retriving Data -gt; Building a custom DataSource for a Presentation bean -gt; Structure of a DataAccess object.

    The relevant method to retrieve a value is:

    getValue public java.lang.Object getValue(introw,
    intcol,
    java.lang.Stringtype)
    throws RowOutOfRangeException,
    ColumnOutOfRangeException

    Retrieves a data value for the specified row and column intersection.
    Parameters:
    row - The row to retrieve.
    col - The column to retrieve.
    type - Type of data to retrieve, such as formatted or unformatted. Valid type values are defined in DataMap.

    Note: This call requires that the appropriate DataMap object is initialized with any types of data that the caller intends to use.

    Returns:The specified type of information for the specified row and column location.

    Throws:

    RowOutOfRangeException - If row is negative or too large.

    ColumnOutOfRangeException - If column is negative or too large.

    The way that Crystal builds a crosstab, it has to sort it by the rows and columns in the tab, otherwise it could end up with duplicate row or column headers with different values, which would be confusing at best. If you want it sorted by field4, you'll need to put that in the crosstab.

    DS_2.setFilter("0PROFIT_CTR", CROSSTAB_1.getSelectedMember("0PROFIT_CTR"));

    var A01 = DS_2.getFilterText("0PROFIT_CTR");

    In this way A01 is a string as well and I can do the check.

    Is there an easier way to achieve this?

    Thanks end best regards,

    Arwold

    DB:2.42:Cross Tab Data Is Getting Multiplied If I Use Multiple Queris In Asingle Report 3f

    HI,

    i am using multiple queris for displaying data and graphs(charts).

    my requirement is to display 2 charts and data in crosstab in a single report.

    all the three thing (2charts and crosstab) will use diffrent values.

    I am writing 3 sql queries for getting appropriate values for charts and crosstab.

    Now the problem, both charts and crosstab are taking the values of all 3 queris

    i.e if i added crosstab first to the report values are coming correctly. After that if i add graph cross tab values are getting changed and graph values are not getting properly.

    if i add graph first then its coming correctly.

    if i tried to add all 3 components then values are going cores...... ?

    DB:2.42:Cross Tab Data Is Getting Multiplied If I Use Multiple Queris In Asingle Report 3f

    When you say you are writing 3 sql queries what do you mean? Are you creating 3 SQL command objects in the database expert? If so this is your problem, Crystal will pull a cartesian product through (this is every possible combinatin of rows from the 3 queries).

    If your 2 graphs and 1 crosstab are based on different datasets the way to approach this is to create each on a seperate report, then create a new blank report and add each of your 3 reports as subreports in the report footer.

    Hope this helps,

    Toby

    DB:2.42:Ds 1.2 Double Click Issue On The Crosstab. p9

    Hi All,

    I have built a Design Studio application 1.2 with 3 level hierarchy data like (Region -- Area Manager -- Station) using HANA as a data source.

    I have on click event on the Crosstab which is triggered for drilldown. When User does single click it works as expected but when User accentually does a double click on the crosstab.

    I see a flash on the screen and the filter are lost and it brings in all Data.

    Not sure how to control the Double click event on the cross tab.

    Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Manju

    DB:2.42:Ds 1.2 Double Click Issue On The Crosstab. p9

    Hi Manju,

    Thanks for the reply. I have tried the logic you have provided but its giving me script error(highlighted in red)

    var CaseFilterI = CROSSTAB_1.getSelectedMember("ZC_COWNR");

    if(CaseFilterI =="")
    {
    }else
    {

    CASE_DETAILS_INITIAL.setFilter("ZC_COWNR", CaseFilterI);

    PAGEBOOK_1.setSelectedPageIndex(2);

    CROSSTAB_3.setVisible(true);

    TEXT_5.setVisible(true);
    }

    Do you have any idea why its throwing error?

    Thanks,
    Rajan

    DB:2.42:Olap Ms Analysis Service Cube Related Issues j3

    Hi All
    Background:I have a cube called Factory and its fact table say factory. The fact table has got 2 columns factoryId and factoryType. I am having a dimension table say Mfrfty Association havng 3 columns factoryid, manufactureid and status.The Mfrfty Association is joined to fact table on factoryid. The measure for cube is based on the factoryid. The calulated member is factory count (done using MDX Query).Requirements:Now my requirements is create 2 shared dimensions factory and manufacturerfrom the factory fact table depending upon the factory type (here in this case there are 2 factory types i.e Factory and manufacturer). On creation of the same the factory count will be divided proportionately among the two dimension.Issue:1.When I add the dimension and process the cube error is thrown saying member found in fact table are not present in Dimension manufacturer. here i created the manufacturer dimension by filtering the factoryid whose factory type is manufacturer.2. When I create the manufacturer dimension on Mfrfty Association table on manufactureid the the actual count is getting altered, but the cube gets processed.
    Comments: MDX Query:IIF([Snapshot Q_Y].CurrentMember.Level Is [Snapshot Q_Y].[Year],(Tail(NonEmptyCrossJoin([Snapshot Q_Y].CurrentMember.Children)).Item(0),[Measures].[Supplier Count Base]),CalculationPassValue([Measures].[Supplier Count Base],0))
    Any help on this will be appreciated
    Thanks Reagrds

    DB:2.42:Olap Ms Analysis Service Cube Related Issues j3

    Hi Arindam, I have difficulties understanding your problem but I'll try to answer your questions.

    Issue 1. We to set the KeyErrorAction to either ConvertToUnknown (don't forget to set the UnknownMember to Visible if you choose this option) or DiscardRecord (this means that the fact row won't be included in the cube).T.K. Anand explained this on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345138.aspx

    Issue 2. I'm guessing that the count was altered when you added manufacturer dimension because of the NonEmptyCrossJoin on the calculated member's MDX.

    It seems that the decision to create 2 dimensions (factory and manufacturer) depending upon the factory type is an uncommon design. It's probably more common to create a dimension called Factory Type which is linked to the fact table via Factory_Type_Key column. This dimension has attributes like Factory Type ID and Factory Type Name with possible values of Factory and Manufacturer.

    To get the count of factory rows and count of measure rows we can then create 2 calculated measures called Factory Count and Manufacturer Count based on the Type Name attribute as follows: [Factory Count] = ([Factory Type].[Factory Type Name].[Factory], [Measures].[Fact Row Count])[Manufacturer Count] = ([Factory Type].[Factory Type Name].[Manufacturer], [Measures].[Fact Row Count])
    Fact Row Count is a measure with AggregateFunction = Count and source = Row binding.
    Alternatively we can add it on the Data Source View's Named Query select statement as follows: select measure1, measure2, 1 as fact_row_count from fact_table.

    Kind regards,Vincent

    DB:2.42:Measure Context 3s

    Hey,

    I am currently writing a report that separates a group of clients by age group (1, 1-2, 3-5, etc). The report consists of a crosstab displaying various counts of members eligible for our services.

    Since the report is run several months after the reporting period (to allow 90 days for any adjustments to be made), age isn't calculated using the time the report is run. Age is instead calculated based on the date that member terminated services (or by the last date of the reporting period if the member is still active).

    A handful of members have terminated services with us, then renewed them at a later date within the reporting period. This gives two calculations for age for these members: one age for their first coverage period, and the other after they have renewed coverage. In these cases, I want only the most recent coverage period to be used, therefore limiting to only the most recent age calculation.

    The Problem: Since the report is a crosstab, each cell calculated individually, there is no context by which to group/separate the values. I have tried formulas like:

    =Max([Calculated Age]) ForEach([Member ID])

    DB:2.42:Measure Context 3s

    Thanks for the input, but I was able to figure it out another way.

    What I ended up doing was taking the original query, and using a MINUS operator to eliminate any duplicates.

    DB:2.42:Crosstab Report (Graph) Issues ak

    Hello,

    I have a few issues that I am trying to address.

    1. In a crosstab report, can you sort by a field and hide the results?

    2. I am using a graph for this particular report and my values are displaying with decimal points such as 124.00. Is there a way to correct this? By the way, it displays fine in my crosstab table.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    ML

    DB:2.42:Crosstab Report (Graph) Issues ak

    Hi Michael,

    1. I didn't think you could hide columns in a Crosstab. Let me tell you a little bit more about what I'm trying to accomplish here and maybe you'll have another idea? I am using a case statement to convert an alpha-numeric date field into just the month ie. JAN, FEB, MAR. I put this field in my Crosstab and it sorts alphabetically. I have added another Case statement that converts the 3 letter month into numbers 1 through 12 and it is displaying in my crosstab along side the 3 letter month. What I want to do, is display only the alpha month (exclude numeric), but in the proper order. (JAN through DEC) Any thoughts?

    2. I don't have access to the Admin edition, but I will check with my administrator to see if the default format can be changed.

    Thank you for your help.

    DB:2.42:When Is A Dimension Memeber A Calculated Member? dk

    Hey folks,

    I created some master data., but I can't see (yet) any logic, if a member is a calulated member (in refernece to master data table, Flag "Calculated member").

    When is this set to N, when to Y?

    How can I influence/change this?

    Thanks in advance!

    Christian

    DB:2.42:When Is A Dimension Memeber A Calculated Member? dk

    Sorin, this would be great!

    You are right, first I entered all items (products) and forgot to fill column PARENTH1. After I checked hierarchy in rsh1for products -- I recognized my mistake and I altered the PARENTH1 property to ALLPROD. After this I saved to server and processed dimension.

    My next check in rsh1 was successful and I saw my entered hierarchy.

    In rsa1 I click in "Maintain Mater Data" for this InfoObject Product und select * so I can see ALL entries. As double-checked now (as well as saved and processed), item ALLPROD has still Calculated-member-flag = N.

    Do you have any further ides?

    Need help: problem is that I can layout a hierarchical dimension for usage on a crosstab object, and when it asks for members to be displayed, it shows the crosstab with exactly the layout of member hierarchy that I selected. But later on when my data updates with more (or later) info, the new stuff is not included in the display, I have to redefine the dimension members to get the new stuff to show. Any way to do this programmaticly?
