    DB:3.87:Labview Communication With C Using Tcp/Ip x3

    Hi,

    I have a custom C code that performs some calculations. I want to use Labview to performimage analysis and sensor measurementand then send data to a C program (uses custom libraries), and receive processed data back from it in real time. I am currently testing this system on Mac OSX, and compiling my c program using gcc.

    I looked through the various options - and I wanted to implement TCP/IP with the Labview program running as a client and the C program acting as a server.

    To get it working, I was testing out a simple labview - C program combination (attached).The Labview program sends a number to the C program and I want the C program to print the number on the terminal.

    My issue is that when I send a float/double to the C server, it does not display the correct number in the terminal (probably due to type mismatch). Can someone please help me track down the problem?

    Thanks!

    ashenoy

    PS; compile the c program using: gcc -o server2.c

    Run the compiled c program and note down the port of the server

    Use localhost as the machine name and the port number of the server from the step above into the labview vi

    Thank you for inputs, rolfk and Lynn.

    The issue was that C was not able to handle the byte stream when I used the "Flatten to String" function. So I used the "Number to fractional string" function, and converted it back in C using the function atof(). This way, I think the solution is endianness independent.

    I finally got the program to work. I'll paste a diagram here in case it helps someone else:

    Well, you got rid of the endianess problem and replaced it with a decimal problem. Not likely to happen if both computers use english localization settings but definitely going to be a problem if at least one of them is situated in a locale that uses decimal comma instead of decimal point!

    2) However, if having an array of ArrayList, (not ArrayListString)

    ArrayList [] anArray = new ArrayList [ 5 ];When compiling : NO ERROR

    C:\Tempjava -version
    java version "1.5.0_07"

    It is very strange. Case 1, the type of ArrayListString is defined without any ambiguity, then it is an ERROR in compiling

    while in case 2, the ArrayList is ambiguous in what type of object it will hold, but NO ERROR in compiling

    Thanks very much for your comments/advice

    The search function is your friend. The contents of the above link will tell you that you can't create generic arrays because the exact type of the array is not known at runtime. Try putting the ArrayListString in another List.

    Hi, I only have very limited knowledge about c+ codes and compiling them and I would be very happy if someone can assist me.

    My problem: I have two c++ codes, one with an array size of ~100,000, the other with ~1,500,000. When I compile them using terminal g++ -o commands, the smaller one works with no problem (it takes less than a minute to run), the larger one gives "Segmentation fault". I think it is a memory allocation problem and I am not an expert on dynamic memory allocation which I want to avoid for now.

    My question: When I compile the large code in Windows Visual Basic, I can go to settings to increase the stack and heap sizes and it does work. Is there a similar thing in OS X Leopard? I found some commands to do that in the terminal window but I wasn't able to resolve my problem.

    Thanks for all your help.

    FYI: I found that referring to jni.h in another JDK that was installed on my system (JFK1.4.1_03) by virtue of a WebLogic Server installation solved the problem. That version of jni.h compiles perfectly. So, it must be the version of jni.h that is included with JDK 1.4.2_02 (possibly other 1.4.2 versions).

    When I try to compile it like:

    C:\Javac\bin\javac -cp C:\Eclipse 3.2\workspace\CubeJ Patch 1\Hello\Hello.java

    It gives me the javac option menu which means that I'm not compiling right. I'm planing to parse and replace the long values of the path. I just need help in knowing the right pattern for directories.

    I tried traversing to : C:\Eclips~1\ but I cant get to pass Eclipse 3.2, I need to be able to get to the directory without the spaces, can anyone help? thanks.

    i saved it as hellowworld.java

    then i did the folowing things:

    you must save the file as myfirstjavaprog.javaNot so - any name is fine so long as you use the extension java, and respect the case of the name (upper/lower).

    DB:2.87:Executing A C Program In Visual Studio 2005 s3

    I am a novice programmer (noob) who needs help with compiling and executing C code with C++ Visual Studio 2005. I have renamed the document to end with .c so the compiler will acknowledge C syntax. Another topic on the forum about compling helped but it didnt show how to execute the program. I need help executing a simple program after successfully compling. Also, I usually code simple programs using Emacs on an XWin32 machine. It outputs through a terminal window. I would assume that Visual Studio outputs to MS-DOS and if so, is there a way to run the source code via MS-DOS?  I guess my main question is, how do I run a program after successfully compiling it in C++ Visual Studio 2005? Thanks in advance.

    DB:2.87:Executing A C Program In Visual Studio 2005 s3

    I want to thank cgraus for your reply to his question. I had the same problem. I am also noob programmer and could execute it after I successfully compiled it. Thanks very much.  This post was a big help.

    Hello,I have a project that I inherited that consistently displays this difficulty.I am unable to perform most refactoring operations.The error is clearly stated below. Several projects are not copying their dll's into the obj\Debug\Refactor folder.However this only occurs with 4 of the 15 projects in the solution.I have moved this project across several machines and the problem follows the projects.I recently reorganized the projects into new folders and created a new solution file and the problem continues.I have examined the project file settings using the UI and have found nothing that provides any clue.
    I have also diffed the project files and found nothing unusual between the files that are copied to the refactor folder and those that are not.What am I supposed to be lookng for to correct this?Thanks,Kimball

    Hi Kimball Some clarifications: What is the Visual Studio version and Edition? Which refactor action do you use? What does the solution structure look like and what does the project do? What if copy the source code to a new project and do the same refactor action, will the problem occur? Thanks.

    Hello,

    I am Japanese, so excuse me if my question is hard to understand.

    I have a problem in running rxe file on NXT.
    I tryed to use Basic Chart.vi in the examples using debug command in the NXT terminal.
    TheVI was succesfully compiled and downloaded to the NXT, but it failed to run.

    When I run the downloaded file manually, there was aFile error message on the display of the NXT.

    My labview version is 7.1.0.4000, and there might be some errors in Mass compiling.

    Below is the message when I tried to Mass compile.

    Do you know if you compiled your libraries for Modelsim?

    You should see them in your Libraries tab.

    The Libraries that you should see is the "secureip" and "unisims_ver" libraries.

    If you have them compiled, then you need to make sure that your vsim command uses these libraries.

    You'll need to add the following to you vsim command:

    -L unisims_ver

    -L secureip

Of course xcode throws back errors. How do I tell xcode to run the terminal syntax code so that I can get this program running?

    Thanks

    Just to run the shell commands:
    XcodeFileNewProjectCommandLineUtilityFoundationTool then use NSTask as [here|http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t114129.html]. However, I think if you search the doc you can find classes that will perform the same functions as the shell commands.

    Having a weird problem using terminal. It does not send for instance Ctrl-C to the terminal window. This is valid for other control key combinations, too. F.I: If using nano in terminal there is no way to exit from it because of lacking Ctrl-x.

    I know I used it with OSX, but cannot find out what is responsible for the change.

    Any ideas?

    hey folks,

    thanks for reply. I think I found the problem. The key seems not to be working.

    I killed terminal.plist, reset all what could be imagine. Then I read through suggested http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1381 - no I did not use the system CD, yet - but instead of this I tried an external USB Mac keyboard with that keyboard layout application (don't know how it is called in US version) flashing keys when pressed.

    When pressing Ctrl on this external keyboard the regarding ^ key on lower left does flash together with right one. If unplugging and pressing Ctrl on the MacBook Pro keyboard nothing flashes. I expect, that the keyboard has an issue. Will test things with system CD, later. But I am pretty confident that this is the problem.

    Thanks again.

    Hi,
    I am new to Sun CC(WorkShop 6 update 2 C++ 5.3 2001/05/15). I get this
    error when compiling...

    Error: iterator_traits is not defined.

    Code line causing problem:
    typedef typename iterator_traitsPtr::value_type l_attr;

    Compiles fine with "g++/c++".

    thanks!

    DB:2.82:Iterator_Traits..... I Meant G++ In Last Mail....Thanks... mk

    The iterator_traits template is part of standard C++, but is not available in Forte Developer 6 Update 2.

    The current release, Sun One Studio 7, provides the STLport implementation of the C++ standard library as an option. If you upgrade to the current release and use the option
    -library=stlport4
    the iterator_traits template will be available. (You must use that option on every CC command line.)

    Hi,

    What do you mean nstead ?. That it is not necesary to set FORMS60_PATH ?. If you are on 11i, you need to check the value of FORMS60_PATH

    If you are on R12, you need to check the value of FORMS_PATH

    In addition, I sent an email to DBA in order to know if we have invalid objects, but I need to insist that the library is standard (JE.pll).Just verify as you may get this FRM error if you have any invalid objects that could be relevant.

    Very nice explanation.

    I use TextWranger very often. However, there may be situations where you don't have a user interface available. MacOSX can be used entirely with the terminal. Just type "vi helloworld.c".

    Oh, before you do that. Download one of the many "vi cheatsheets". TextWranger, BBEdit, etc. are very nice tools, but there are always alternatives.

    You don't need Xcode to compile your apps with; just the compiler/linker.Xcode is Apple's IDE. One could write the same code in TextEdit but that wouldn't be easy nor fun.(Missed it by THAT much!)

    DB:2.77:Java On Mac 3x

    /Users/matthewsparkes/Desktop/Hello/class

    Everything in the above string except the bold Hello is invalid. When you compile a class, all that you specify is the name of the class, not the path to it, nor the .class suffix.

    Go to the /Desktop/ directory and use this command, including the period and the surrounding spaces following classpath:

    java -classpath . HelloThen learn about using the classpath.

    DB:2.75:Compiling In C In Terminal ad

    If you're on your own Mac, you may or may not have permissions to write to /usr/local/bin. Try copying some file there, then remove it if you succeed (to not leave crud around.)

    You apparently need to install some additional software to have the xmkmf and make commands - possibly X11, possibly Apple's Xcode software, possibly both. Or, just maybe, they're there but not in your default path. Maybe you can get a Unix admin or experienced user to help you figure out what you need to do - fix paths, install software, show you what to enter per the instructions for xspim, etc.

    None of your problems (yet) have anything to do with C, they're basic Unix or software install problems.

    DB:2.75:Classpath Problem s8

    SET CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;c:\javalibs\LIB.zipBy this you only did append your LIB.zip to your CLASSPATH. If this caused a compilation error, most likely you did not have a CLASSPATH variable defined before, and hence all classes were loaded from the current directory. So, please add . to your CLASSPATH as in:
    SET CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;C:\javalibs\LIB.zip;.;

    somewhere, but where?Anywhere where it will be avilable. Adding it to autoexec.bat will make it available throughout. You can execute the command at the command prompt and that way this environment variable will be available only within that prompt.

Naturally, when I found and attempted to compile examples using the string class in C++ (e.g. "using namespace" and declaring strings using "string" instead of "char*"), they didn't compile correctly in C.

    DB:2.73:Internal Error While Compiling With Vs2005 1a

    Hi all,I am receiving a really strange problem while compiling my solution with VS. My solution contains several projects in C# and while compiling I receive the following error message:error CS0583: Internal Compiler Error (0xc0000017 at address 77E55DEA): likely culprit is 'DEFINE'.I reinstalled VS and compiled again and everything was working, but after a while a received again the same error message. Does anybody know if there is a fix for that in the SP1? Or is it a reported issue?Thanks,Omar Vera

    DB:2.73:Vivado 2014.4 Simulation: Could Not Remove The Obj Directory z7

    Hello all,

    I'm trying to run the AXI Ethernet Subsystem testbench in the vivado simulator and at the end of the build process I get an error saying "Could not remove the obj directory: boost::filesystem::remove: The directory is not empty: "xsim.dir/gigabit_ethernet_demo_tb_behav/obj".

    The obj folder in question is empty by the time I'm notified.

    I was unable to find anything on google or the forums regarding this issue. I tried disabling multithreading thinking a process was finishing too early but that didn't help. I also tried disabling real time protection on my antivirus.

    I run windows 7 x64.

    Does anybody have any other suggestions?

    Thank you.

    Here's the log output from the simulation process

    Hi,

    I have some problem with ISIM.

    When I compile my project (CPLD XC9572XL, some communication with extern ADCs), no error occurs (synth/trans/fit everything ok). Next step is Behaviour simulation, OK again. Project works. So I try Post-fit simulation with same testbench file but the ISIM dilalog appears (Simulation is abnormally terminated).

    I use ISIM release ver. 11.1, appl. ver. L.33.

    Then ISIM window opens, small dialog with progress bar and message "Elaborating" appears and then the problematic "Simulation is abnormally terminated" dialog pop ups. ISIM windows is empty, with no additional message.

    I tried to find some mistake in testbench file, missing initial value for example, but everything seems to me all right.

    Why the post-fit simulation fails when behaviour simulation works? What is the difference?

    I can provide source codes if necessary.

    Thanks a lot for explanation.

    Hi,

    Those are parser/compiler messages that can be ignored. It is just a note not even a warning.

    All it is saying is the attributes on the given component and can be safely ignored.

    DB:2.73:Gcc: Command Not Found Error (This Still Haunts Me, Please Help!) 1s

    Hello all,

    I am trying to compile C files using terminal and the gcc command. I have XCode installed and can run a simple program no problem in XCode, but when I try compiling using the gcc command in terminal I get this error:

    -bash: gcc: command not found

    I know this is a common newbie mistake and is usually the result of improper XCode installation or not having the PATH set correctly. The odd thing is, a few months ago I was using Terminal to compile/run C files with no issue. Since then, I recently began programming using Java. I installed Eclipse and was using it to compile/run java programs, so my guess is that somehow having both Xcode and Eclipse installed together is causing the issue. I originally installed XCode by downloading it directly from the developer.apple.com/tools/xcode/ link and like I said, had no issues.

    So the question is, do I really need to uninstall, re-download, and re-install Xcode again? I'd prefer to not mess around with the PATH either since I've never done this before and I previously had no issue six months ago. If I do need to download and re-install, what is the proper way to do this (while saving my old projects)? Thank you for the help

    -Steve

    DB:2.73:Gcc: Command Not Found Error (This Still Haunts Me, Please Help!) 1s

    I went ahead and installed Xcode with the UNIX development support. I'm happy to announce that everything seems to work perfectly again . It's entirely possible that I didn't install the development support the first time I installed Xcode to try and save space. I did most of my programming on a linux server at school using ssh from terminal, so perhaps gcc was working because I was using the commands on the linux server. I thought I was using them from a new terminal shell on my system, but maybe not. As I mentioned, it's been about 6 months so I may have just forgotten.

    Either way, thanks for being patient, you have all been very helpful!

    So I tried to play around with the core java package i installed (to my ability, im a beginner when it comes to coding :p) and I received this:

    I think that the problem is that I am not linking in the OCI executable files correctly. So if someone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

    DB:2.72:Linking Error Compiling Oci Demos With Visual C++ z9

    Do you link oci.lib? Thats the only lib file you need actially.

    If you are using MS VC++, you can add lib path from ToolsOptionsDirectories.Choose "Library files" from "Show directories for" dropdown list, adn then add you ora.lib path (usually $ORAHOME\oci\lib\).

    You also need to add oci.lib in the project settings in the Object/library modules filed of Link tab. Do not forget to add oci.lib for both Debug end Release settings.
    Cheers,

    Best is to use the ant documentation; I often need it.
    ant without options will use build.xml, as "makefile".
    In the build.xml you define your default target.

    project basedir="." default="all"

    property name="src.dir" value="."/
    property name="classes.dir" value="../build/classes"/

    target depends="compile" description="Build everything." name="all"

    The syntax problem Iencountered is due to the SDK Make rulescalling the "sh" command when building on a Windows platform. It is not a conflict between sh versions as I have read elsewhere. It really is more of a bug in the make rules .

    Obviously a standard windows platform does not supply sh so I have no idea why the make rules try and call it. If Xilinx

    would fix this it would be a great help to those that have to use other SDKs on the same machine. To see if this is causing you similar problems. Open up a ISE Design Suite 64/32 Bit Command Prompt window and see if the sh comand is found. If it is you will need to modify your PATH environment varilable to avoid the SDK from finding it.After removing the other tools path was able to compile and the headache went away.

    Hi there.

    Does anybody out there have any experience with JBuilder8?

    I have a problem compiling my stuff. Let's say that I have 3 java-files (A.java, B.java C.java). Since B needs C and A needs B, i need to compile C first...

    import B;
    class A {
    ...
    }

    import C;
    class B {
    ...
    }

    class C {
    ...
    }

    I click the "make"-button for C, and that works fine. When I click "make" for class B, I get this message:
    "B.java": Error #: 200 : '.' expected at line 1, column 9
    And this goes for compiling A.java too.

    FACT: IT WORKS IN JBUILDER7!!!
    FACT: I KNOW THAT C.class IS COMPILED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTORY.

    I guess some of you would like to say: "Well, use JBuilder7 then."
    That isn't such a bad idea, but I'd like this to work in JB8.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Yes thats exactly what it means.
    for MDX 1.1 there are multiple assemblies
    for MDX 2.0 all the namespaces are included in a single assembly. This is why you get the duplicate error if you add some of the old MDX 1.1 references. Things exisit in both places.

    DB:2.71:Re: Terminal Strip Pin Descriptions Are Not Reliable Or Get Changed To "Ia zk

    Hello all,

    I've been looking for a solution to this problem for a while and I haven't found anything. Maybe I'm not wording it correctly in my search?

    Anyways, here's my problem.

    Let's say I make a Terminal Strip with terminals numbered 221 to 231.

    -They are 2 level terminals. Both levels have the same terminal number.

    -Level 1 (TOP) has pin descriptions "A" and "B" (left and right respectively)

    -Level 2 (BOTTOM) has pin descriptions "C" and "D" (left and right respectively)

    Let's say I run wires to and from components. Everything is fine, however, it seems arbitrary (regardless of how the terminal is set up) as to whichside of the terminalthe wires get wired to in the "TERMINAL STRIP EDITOR". If you look at arrow A) and B), you'll see that TI/PWR+ and TI/PWR- go to different sides of the terminal.

    So I can fix this byusing "SWITCH TERMINAL DESIGNATION" in my TERMINAL STRIP EDITOR. I now have a new problem.

    When I run my REPORTSFROM/TO wiring list, any terminal that had the "SWITCH TERMINAL DESIGNATION" function implemented will now lose it's "A / B" or "C / D" descriptions and will be replaced with "I / E" (for INTERNAL or EXERNAL).I've been trying to fix this problem for months and the only way to fix it is to create a whole new terminal strip and this is very irritating and time consuming.Please let me know if you know of any solutions or maybe I'm doing something wrong. Also, let me know if I'm not clear on something.

    DB:2.71:Re: Terminal Strip Pin Descriptions Are Not Reliable Or Get Changed To "Ia zk

    The User Attribute feature lets you add attributes and xdata (as of AutoCAD Electrical 2012) as fields in reports if the report doestn' supply it as one of its predefined fields. As long as it is an attribute or xdata with theVIA_WD_ prefix, and it is on a component (not a wire number block, cable marker) they will then show up as available fields for all reports.

    Some Help topics that would be helpful. These links go tothe 2015 Help but I believe it is the same in 2014.

    http://help.autodesk.com/view/ACAD_E/2015/ENU/?guid=GUID-2C3A6B25-77B8-4E80-84B3-EAF08699203A- explains the feature

    http://help.autodesk.com/view/ACAD_E/2015/ENU/?guid=GUID-3629296D-92B1-4054-96FD-FF6E8ADA1261- how to add fields

    The User Attributes are saved in a text file with a .wda extension. If you want to create one that is used for all projects, name it default.wda and save it in the base project folder. If you want it to be project-specific name it the same as the project name and save it to the same as the projectfolder. (with the .wdp file)

    When you run your report, click Change ReportFormat to add the fields. Look at the end of the Available Fields (list on the left) they should be there.

    One note, even though these are most likely saved as xdata called VIA_WD_L01PINL, VIA_WD_L01PINR you don't include the VIA_WD_ part when adding it to the user Attributes list.

    This method can be used to add custom attributes that you haveadded to your blocks or attributes and xdata that AutoCAD Electrical uses but for some reason is not a default field in the report.

    So thankfully I got the SDK samples working. Tested out a few of them in the terminal and them work.

    Now it&9;s on to coding. I want to use the Template to work from. So I&9;ll make a copy in a seperate folder in case I muck it up.

    I wanted to know a couple of things.

    If I do edit and save cuda code (template.cu), will I have to do the make in terminal again? or can I simple just go to the relevant folder:

    cd NVIDIA_GPU_computing_SDK/C/bin/linux/release

    and then run the template sdk:

    ./template

    Very basic questions I know, but just want to clarify as I&9;m new to CUDA and Ubuntu.

    Thanks.

    I just decided to move all the examples, leave template only and work from that. It&9;s much quicker than having to make all the projects everytime i adjust one tiny part of the code.

    DB:2.69:How Do I Map A Shortcut To The Clients Drive? pm

    Hi All,
    I administer a 2003-R2 Terminal Server. In the client's RDP file, I map the client's C: drive to the terminal server. On the Terminal Server, I create a shortcut on the desktop to a directory on the client's local C: drive. The idea is
    that if the users save a file in the Terminal Server's desktop shortcut, the data appears in their local C: drive.
    Problem, every time the client logs off and back on to the Terminal Server, the short cut on the Terminal Server desktop becomes useless.
    The users are not smart enough to navigate the file system. Is there any way to fix the short cut so it remains active between sessions? Any other ideas to accomplish the same thing?
    Many thanks,

    DB:2.69:How Do I Map A Shortcut To The Clients Drive? pm

    \\tsclient\c$\somedir

    Hi Rich,
    Thank you! What I was doing was dragging and dropping the shortcut with Windows Explorer. This was dying every time the client logged back in.
    I wound up not using the Administrator's share (c$) as it presumes the local user has administrator privileges over his machine. No problem though, each user may or may not wish local drive mapping to their local C: drive, so if they don't want a
    C mapping, then they don't get a shortcut.
    In case anyone researching this missed it, don't use Windows Explorer to drag and drop the shortcut, use instead, New-Shortcut and manually write the address in the with the drive mapped as \\tsclient\c\somedir. You can use Windows Explorer to
    copy the location of the shortcut and then paste it into the shortcut's location.

    DB:2.69:Why Is Make And Gcc Not Found After Installing Xcode 4.2.1 33

    I did an upgrade initially and have both versions of Xcode on my Lion installation. I cloned my drive, then did a clean install of Lion. I currently have developer folders 4.1 and 3.2.6. Xcode works fine in compiling my C++ code (I am a student learning programming) but I can no longer compile in the terminal. Actually, I have no tools available in the terminal. Typing gcc gives: no command found. When I installed Snow Leopard, everything was there. Why not now for Lion? I guess I am asking what should I do. I don't have access to my external that has a copy of the Xcode 4.2.1 installation.

    DB:2.69:Why Is Make And Gcc Not Found After Installing Xcode 4.2.1 33

    I'm not a big fan of Lion. I like Snow Leopard better. My system was faster and there are a few issues I don't like, I wouldn't necessarily say broken. Right off the bat, I had to change my mouse scroll wheel direction. I don't like the menu icons in finder nor the locations.. and I my file extensions on my desktop (such as pdf) randomly are not presented correctly. But I like the integrated feel of Xcode 4.2, so I jumped ship lol. Now that I got this fixed I can work on my programming assignments. It's ok...but its growing on me.

    Do not use Iostream.h as that clearly is not correct if you want to make sure you are right when you type
    #include
    it comes with list of header files underneath so whencheckingyou better off using that.

    (1) Modifying your system environment variables for Java, so that the 1.5 command-line tools and applications are found first. You do this by modifying your .profile or .bash_profile and adding these two lines:

    I don't believe that Modelsim supports SmartModels in 6.4.

    When you use secureip, make sure to add the reference to the library in your vsim command:

    vsim +notimingchecks +TESTNAME=sample_smoke_test0 -L secureip -L work work.boardx04 glbl

    Hi;You need a C compiler in order to compile C code. Specifically to create a CIN, you need specific compilers. The following page includes a list of compilers that support CINs (See point 7):External Code for LabVIEW - CIN / DLL - Starting PointInstructions on how to build a CIN are here:How to build a CIN code resource (.lsb file)The main reference is the manual "Using External Code in LabVIEW", which should be included with LabVIEW.Regards;Enriquewww.visecurity.com
