Assuming that you have a default consolidation rule implemented, to calculate the balance sheet minority interest you must include in the FOR-NEXT structure rolling through the dataset, something like this:

    If HS.Account.IsDescendant("TotalEquity", vAccount) Then
    ....
    Call HS.Con("A#MinorityInterest", vMin, "")
    Else If
    ....

where vCon = HS.Node.PCon("") and vMin = 1 - HS.Node.POwn("") which must be defined at the top of the consolidate() procedure

DB:5.45:Calculation Of Minority Interest In Matrix Organization Structure c7

    Hello-

We are currently implementing sem-bcs and have a matrix organization structure in place. We use company code and profit center as consolidation units. Company code being the currency carrying unit.

We are facing an issue in minority calculation-

Let us take the following example -

Investee A - books equity in pc A

Holding entity B books investments in pc B

The above information were entered in AFD and was also pulled in BCS as RFD..

The first consolidation happens as per our expectations.

For subsequent consolidation, the retained earnings account (additions movement) could have multiple profit centers. The system calculates minority interest correctly for combination of retained earnings addition @ PC A. However for all other combinations (I.e retained earnings for PC other than A), the system treats the entire amount as minority interest (even though that's not the case)..

    Kindly advise.

    Thanks!

That approach sounds correct to me - as long as the minority interest is correct in all cases.

    Hello SEM Guru's

    Problem arise in Production Server

An error we have discovered in the functionality of the automated Minority Interest calculation:

It is generating MI on an account which should not be subject to this consol-elimination, i.e., BCS is generating incorrect journal entries which we are being forced to manually reverse. Please ensure that this case is routed to someone conversant with the BCS application.

Observation-of-output has noted that the "Consol of Invest" UCMON task creates Minority Interest entries on the following basis, offsetting the activity in the trigger code at the set Minority Interest rate:

Current R/E adjusted against MI in the PL

    CTA adjusted against itself

Adjustment to RE adjusted against itself.

All MI-entries offset to MI-Ret Earnings.

It is the third trigger, for Adjustment to RE, that we need to be removed. In most cases, Retained Earnings adjustments are not subject to Minority Interest reclassification

Please help me to solve the problem

In my development server there is no data, I suggest to client about the solution

    - In most cases, Retained Earnings adjustments are not subject to Minority Interest reclassification -- what's this all about?

    Hi all,

After a bit of looking I only recently stumbled across this forum and was immediately sold on the primary goal within the Overview:

"Our primary goal is to engage in an open dialogue around support topics and to provide you the opportunity to share ideas and advice."

    Update my profile - check

Engage the RSS feeds - check

Search recent content for topics of interest - insert sound file of screeching brakes

At first I thought the 'Recent Activity' was an automated feed from the SMP Support portal. After all, in my mind, isn't this where issues are reported/corrected? However further investigations revealed that this site seems to be largely used as an incident management system.

My interpretation of the site's primary goal is that 'support topics' refers to topics for discussion, pertinent updates, blogs, valid conversation points, etc. however I can see the interpretation of 'support topics' could also refer to support issues/incidents.

Perhaps I am in the minority however your feedback would be appreciated. Should break-fix and consulting type requests be permitted within this forum or restricted to other available channels (e.g. Support portal)?

Thanks for raising this point! It is something we have been struggling with in this space for quite some time. There are various SAP Product related spaces in SCN that people should be utilizing to ask their product questions. I just added an announcement on the home page of Software Support and Maintenance here:

We try to move the discussions to the relevant product areas, but as you can imagine and have seen, that can sometimes be a hard thing to keep up with.

As you mentioned above 'My interpretation of the site's primary goal is that 'support topics' refers to topics for discussion, pertinent updates, blogs, valid conversation points, etc.'

That is the purpose of this space.

    Dear Experts,

In the minority interest calculation in the process of consolidation of financial statements, we have several Consolidation Groups (CG) according to the needs of the company. In each of these CG different companies are included according to the CG purpose in which they are located.

    For example:
CG S0001: Consolidated General. Contains all companies.
CG S0002: Consolidated Panama. It contains only the companies in Panama.
CG S0003: Consolidated Financial. It contains only the companies in financial sector.

When calculating the minority interest, we are having problems because for those CG that include only some companies, the CG is taking information from companies outside the group. It should be noted that the values that are being taken from companies that do not belong the CG, but they have shares in companies that are within the CG.

So, it's correct the way BCS is working in minority interest calculations?

    1515Writeup of Investment

    1602Subsequent Consolidation

    1703Amortization of Goodwill

    1818Distribution of Dividends

When we recorded an end-of-period total divestiture (via AFD), the COI log does the following:

1.Partial divestiture from 100% to 0% - reversing first consolidation elimination of investment, recording 100% to minority interest balance sheet, and recording gains

2.Subsequent consolidation because ownership is now considered 100% the entire earnings for the period of divestiture is recorded as minority interest

3.Total divestiture reversing first consolidation elimination of equity, reversing minority interest balance sheet from partial divestiture above, and gain for earnings of period of divestiture

What bothers me is that subsequent earnings recoded 100% minority interest. Why would this occur when the divestiture is at the end of the period per the master data? Should the activity sequence number for subsequent consolidation change to a number lower that for partial and total divestiture, but remain after the Stop? If so what are the consequences?

The only other alternative I can think of is to leave the activity sequence alone and record the divestiture at the beginning of the next period.

Any help with this is appreciated.

    DB:3.97:Sequence Of Activities Divestiture x7

    Dan,

Been looking at this myself these last few days. I know conventional wisdom is to not touch the sequence, but I can't see the delivered sequence working correctly (ever) in the case of divestitures if there is activity in the period. As discussed, perhaps this is what makes people chose the DABP option.

In addition to your case with the M/I due to the subsequent consolidation, if you were to issue a dividend in the period of divestiture that dividend income would be reclassed to minority interest as well.

My solution on the dividends to was to bring the activity above the partial transfer step, with the reasoning that in the event of a transfer you would be dividending to the old parent, not the new parent. Testing so far of our likely C/I activites seems to work with the sequence as desired.

For the subsequent consolidation I'm also having issues that we've PL30 topsided around, but I wouldn't want to do that in a transfer because of the income statement adjustments that would be necessary and the statistical account impact. In a future total divestiture activity, the gain/lose would be incorrectly calculated unless I got those statistical balances spot on to agree with the manual PL30.

I suspect the subsequent consolidation should be after the total transfer or vertical merger, with the reasoning that this activity should be performed in the new parent (err...cons group) in this case. Haven't had a chance to test all our likely activities with this scenario, but will probably need a solution real soon.

I'm familiar w/ this note on the topic, wihch is essentially the help.sap.com documentation in a little more technical detail:

    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/698955

But I'm not aware of any other documentation on the subject.

Finally....I remember when I took the SEM240 class a while ago they harped on not touching the default sequence, but those of us in the room with a live implementation had all changed from the default sequence.

Anyway...I don't really have a question or helpful info. Just surprised there's nothing more on the topic.

    Offset to "X12345" [FX-CTA]

Jim Gibbons.SB302 targets clauses that enable some credit card companies to boost interest rates if a customer misses a payment on a completely separate account. The bill was sponsored by Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus, D-Las Vegas, who described the interest-raising tactics as "outrageous and unbelievable." Titus said most cardholders aren't even aware of the clauses.Several large banks, including Citibank and Chase, recently rolled back or eliminated universal default clauses due to political pressure in Congress. At least five bills are pending in Congress that would further tighten regulations on credit cards.Nevada joins a handful of states that have banned universal default clauses. Many Nevada consumers still aren't protected since the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that states can't regulate banks that are based out-of-state - and most cards are issued by such banks.Message Edited by Timothy on 05-28-2007 01:51 PM

Account 69000 Credit : 50% of the total net income
Account 65000 Debit : 50% of the total net income

The requirement is to mimic the same in HFM as part of the consolidation process.

Net Income (Account : Net_Income) from these 4 entities are added to arrive at the total Net Income. Then 50% of the total net income is assigned as follows in the 4600 entity.

Account 69000 Credit : 50% of the total net income
Account 65000 Debit : 50% of the total net income

The requirement is to mimic the same in HFM as part of the consolidation process.

Kindly anybody share me the sample working rule on how the minority interest is calculated how the values roll up to 40000.
Please help me to out of this.

    Hi All,
I am trying to write a rule to calculate minority interst on Net Income B4 Tax at Entity Currency Total only instead of Entity Currency. I have a rule written which is listed below however it looks like it is calculating at Entity Currency, then at Entity Curr Adj the Net Income B4 Tax is showing up in the Minority Interest account, and then at Entity Curr Total it shows the total of Entity Currency and Entity Curr Adj. Since I don't know much about VB script, can anyone help?

    If povYear "2008" and HS.Entity.UD2("") = "MinInt1" Then
    HS.Clear"A#MIN_73100"

MI is an item that appears within the Group -- from the point of view a particular cons unit (company) MI doesn't exist.

So, most likely, you'll have this item in BCS only.

DB:3.58:Hyperion Minority Interest Rule Help 39

Hello, I am trying to revise or add a metadata rule that calculates minority interest (both income statement and balance sheet impact) based on a minority interest percentage assigned in Hyperion. This rule works to where it takes net income of the base entity (which has been identified as a minority interest base entity in the UD2 field of the entity setup in metadata) multiplied by the minority interest percent entered to arrive at the balance in the minority interest income statement and balance sheet account. Upon consolidation, the values in the minority interest accounts are moved to the income statement and balance sheet minority interest accounts. This rule was working fine until we acquired a foreign entity with a minority interst percent. When I set up the minority interest percent on the base entity (which has a different entity currency than the parent), it calculates the minority interest amount correctly in the foreign currency, but when it translates from the entity currency to parent currency, it takes the foreign currency exchange rate entered for the balance sheet and income statement account instead of keeping both at the same translated USD amount. This results in an out of balance in our balance sheet since the translation gives two different USD values. The minority interest should be calculated on the foreign entity but equal the USD equivalent of the minority interest percent of net income. I would like the minority interest calculation to occur after translation of net income from entity to parent currency for this foreign entity. I have tried to create a rule, but am having a difficult time, how do I create a nesting statement within an exisiting rule that states, if the base entity has a different currency than the parent, run translation first, then calculate minority interest on the translated USD value?

The error message states - "If you use the Partial Divestiture as Equity Transaction Function, you have to specify the posting item Transfers to Minority Interest in Retained Earnings....."

However we have not activated Partial Divestiture as Equity Transaction Function in System Utilization Settings (for COI). We found SAP Note 1303812 for this issue. However this note is already implemented in our system.

Has the activity for divestiture been recorded via either Additional Financial Data ot totals record? If not this may be part of the solution. Simply updating the master data does not consitute a true COI divestiture.

Another possibility is there is a bug that should be reported to SAP via customer message.

We have the proper configuration in the "Appropriation of Retained Earnings" -- "Net Income" -- "Minority Interest in Net Income" option. See following thread: SEM-BCS Minority Interest in Income Statement

    Hi All,

I have a query on how Consolidation of Investments will be done when there is acquisition happening in the middle of the month. Just to make it clear i am quoting an example

    1. Company A is holding 20 % in Company B. As company B is an associate of company A consolidation is done as per Equity method. Then Company A acquires additional 40 % on 15th of a month. So Company B is associate from 1st to 15th and Subsidiary from 15th to Month end.

In this case the equity method will be applied for half of the month and purchase method will be applied for next half of the month. This poses two issues

    a. I will have to consider P/L of company B only for half of the month (15th to end of the month). As we are loading monthly data and not the date wise data into BCS how do we take care in this situation.

    b. even for GW/Minority Interest calculation I will have to consider Equity and Profit earned till 15th.

I can enter whether the acquisition is at the beginnning of the month or at the end of the month but there is no place to enter any mid month acquisition..

Pl let me know the solution or any pointers.

    Shivaprasad

DB:3.01:Acquisition In The Middle Of The Month 9d

Indeed, we SEM-BCS you have only two choices: 1st consolidation either at the beginning or at the end of the period.

My personal preferrance would be: at the end. All B/S items (exept of RE and GW) will correspond to the actual status of the company. Just calculate RE from the associate for the half month and estimate the proper GW (maybe you'll have to make some adjustment to one of the equity item in order to get the correct GW amount).

    Dear experts,

our BPC settings on Legal application disappear. We had automatic adjustments with two or more account selections and the settings disappear.

    AUTOMATIC ADJUSTMENT

Example: we had an automatic adjustment to calculate the minority:

    Adjustment ID: ELCOIT3

    First selection:

    Source account: PLPAT

    Destination minority account: PC012401010001

    Second selection:

    Destination minority account: PC0131201040001

This automatic adjustment has been working and today when I tried executing again this method did not work.

I recently received an email from BT which states that :

"We're in the process of changing the way we deliver BT Sport to our customers. We're turning off the Digital Terrestrial Television signal that allows you to watch our sport channels through your TV aerial, and instead we will be delivering them over the internet."

They "suggested" that I get a Chromecast (for free) and "stream from my 'phone, Tablet or PC". All well and good, but why not simpl ad an app to the BT Vision Box, or XBOX, Playstation etc. like with iPlayer, 4OD etc?

In the interest of science I tried the Chromecast, but to call its performance and usability lamentable would be overly generous. Of course as one of the aparrent "minority" using a Windows device, I don't get most of Chromecast's "features". Maybe it works with Android?

As a rural dweller the likelihood of my Broadband being upgraded to anything above its current (nominal) 6Mbs looks unlikely. As someone who pays the same for my cruddy 6Mbs Broadband as those who get 20+Mbs I feel entitled to being able to get BT Sport, and all the other "features" of being a loyal BT customer.

Perhaps someone from BT woiuld like to clarify this situation.

I've seen a number of posts in this forum regarding the calculation of Minority Interet calculation but nothing on how to reverse that entry when the subsidiary effectively becomes 100% owned higher up in the entity hierarchy.

    Entity A
    |
    |_____100%___Entity B
    | |
    | |_______10% ___Entity D
    |
    |_____100%___Entity C
    |
    |_______90%___Entity D

In the example above, Entity A effectively owns 100% of Entity D. Any Minority Interest booked at Entity C would need to be reversed at Entity A. Does HFM automatically keep track of effectve ownership or do you have to write a rule to check for effective ownership? We are not inputting any voting shares/controling shares but inputting PCon, Pown in the Ownership module.

    DB:2.95:Minority Interest Reversal 78

    Hi, Jim

I think that you need to set up separate hierarchies in Entity dimension to account for subholdings. Minority interest is usually calculated on the node level (that is, rather on [Proportionate] Value element). It would be convenient then to set up a legal hierarchy, populate POwns automatically through Ownership Management module (where all the information on legal ownership will be stored) and use a custom rules to calculate for MI strictly on the legal nodes for each company.
Additionally you can set up as many hierarchies as you wish - for subholdings, segment reporing and so on - each node can use its own POwns then.
    Hope this helps.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, or come across this, as I suspect SIP is something of a minority interest.

I've tried my E72 (original firmware, UK SIM-free) connecting both to my in-house 3CX system and directly to Sipgate. It connects, and logs in fine. But for some reason, when you make or receive a call in handset mode, the received audio on the E72 is very garbled, with a charming dalek effect.

Press Loudspeaker, however, and it's clear as a bell. Since I'm about 3 foot away from the wireless access point, that doesn't seem likely to be a factor (and in any event, I've tried two different ones); and since it behaves same same with two different SIP services, it's unlikely to be that, either.

Has anyone else seen this, or know of a way to clear it?

In the case of the 3CX system, there's no firewall between the devices, and the external firewall is set to pass SIP traffic in any case, and itself works perfectly with Sipgate and other handsets. It's just the E72, and just when listening on the handset rather than the loudspeaker.

    1. Purchase method may be used, however in most cases where ownership is less than 50% the equity method is used. This is not a hard-and-fast rule as there are other factors to be considered.

    2. Yes this hierarchy will permit COI.

    3. Assign accounting techniques in the master data, configure COI, ensure AFD or totals has correct values for investment and equity, and execute COI task.

The values you get in "CapitalStock" and "Investments" accounts @ [Proportion] are 100% or 80% of the corresponding values at Entity Currency level?

If 80%, it means that the else part is executed, which in turn means that the code never passes in the "CapitalStock" and "Investments" parts during execution.

If 100%, it means that the actions related to the specific accounts "CapitalStock" and "Investments" are executed, including the A#281100 part. Then, there is something about your account like a calculation rule cleaning it up or something. Can you create a new dimensionless (all Customs [None], IsICP = "N") test account and try using this account in place of A#281100 to see if it gets a value?

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/credit/more/cement.html...Subprime lending has an even more pernicious effect. It ensnares people who, in a regulated market, would have had access to lower-cost mortgages. Lenders' own data show that many of the families that end up in the subprime market are middle-class families that would typically qualify for a traditional mortgage. At Citibank, for example, researchers have concluded that at least 40 percent of those who were sold ruinous subprime mortgages would have qualified for prime-rate loans. Nor is Citibank an isolated case: A study by the Department of Housing and Urban Development revealed that one in nine middle-income families (and one in fourteen upper-income families) who refinanced a home mortgage ended up with a high-fee, high-interest subprime mortgage. For many of these families there is no trade-off between access to credit and the cost of credit. They had their pockets picked, plain and simple....Such steering hits minority homeowners with particular force. Several researchers have shown that minority families are far more likely than white families to get stuck with subprime mortgages, even when the data are controlled for income and credit rating. According to one study, African-American borrowers are 450 percent more likely than whites to end up with a subprime instead of a prime mortgage. In fact, residents in high-income, predominantly black neighborhoods are actually more likely to get a subprime mortgage than residents in low-income white neighborhoods-more than twice as likely....More than a few banking execs need to trade in their white sheets for orange jumpsuits.

    DB:2.74:Ownership Percentage Aggregation 87

    Greetings to All,

I am new to HFM and I have a doubt on ownership % aggregation while performing consolidation. Situation like below.

Parent entity A has 70% ownership on its child entity Aa and we have given the same percentage for ownership while defining consolidation methods. As per my knowledge, consolidation is the sum of ownership and minority interest. In this situation how much percentage will aggregate from child entity Aa to parent entity A in consolidation?

Could you please help me on this?

    Thanks in advance.

    DB:2.74:Ownership Percentage Aggregation 87

    Hi 809483,

If your HFM application is configured to use Default Consolidation.
Then changing the Entity Aa [PCON] to 70 and [POWN] to 70 will result in 70% of the amount loaded in Aa to be consolidated into A. For Example if Aa had 100 USD on consolidation A would aggregate 70 USD.
PMIN will be automatically calculated as PCON - POWN

From what you've described it sounds like your HFM application is set up to perform consolidations for full and part-owned subsidiaries.
IF your HFM application has been created to perform consolidations for full and part-owned subsidiaries with defined Methods of Consolidation and specific Consolidation Rules for treating these methods. Then your results may vary depending on factors such as:
    - How is 'Controlling Interest' determined?
    - How are the Methods applied during Consolidation?
    - How is ICP for each subsidiary treated?
    - How will retained earnings into Pre and Post-Acquisition Reserves be treated?
    - etc.

Depending how this data is captured and to what degree often determines the configuration of HFM Consolidaiton Methods and Rules.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

We have a few entities that should be calculated 80% to one Parent and 20% to another Parent within our hierarchy. We have setup the base children twice rolling up to the 2 different parents. We are only interested that all accounts roll up 80%, respectively 20%. We don't need to calculate Minority Interest, Goodwill or anything else.

Is my assumption correct, that we only have to ajdust the [PCON] Percentages withn the Ownership Management window to 80%, respectively 20%? Since we do not need to calculate Minority Interest or Goodwill, there is no need to setup ConsolMethods and/or change the rules file, correct?

    Thanks!

    Hi,
this is a change in nature of ownership question.
this is an org by period application, data is YTD, data loaded quarterly, consolidation done quarterly.

    case 1*
    Parent P
Child A is a joint venture of A with 70% ownership for qtr ending March
(here 70% straight will be consolidated no minority interest)

in the qtr ending june, this A becomes a subsidiary of P with 70% ownership.
(here we need to consolidate 100% and calculate minority interest)

    the question here is,
in the june qtr, will the consolidation work on the entire YTD P/L data or will it work only on the quarter data (apr, may, jun)

    case1
    Parent P
child B is a joint venture, the wonership percentage changes every month.
but as the YTDdata is loaded and consolidated only quarterly,
the ownership % for balance sheet accounts needs to be the end of the period % but the P/L data needs to be consolidated @ weighted average % of ownership (using three months profit).

so, can i have one entity, two % of consolidations for two types of sets of accounts?
if yes, what is the best way to handle this?

i hope i have given the situations clearly.
your help will be highly appreciated!

    many thanks,

DB:2.74:Bpc Consolidation - Automatad Elimination Postings To "Elimination Entity" m7

    Dear Experts!

My client is running on BPC 10 NW. I have requirement to post automated eliminations (IC elimination and common stock/investments) to artificial "elimination entity".

Unfortunately "Adjustments and Elimination" business rule dedicated to use with consolidation-type model seems not to support such an option. It always posts elimination into entity which elimination is related to and at the same time to CONSO entity which is the entity where all consolidation numbers are posted.

I also tested "US Eliminations" and although it posts eliminations to "elimination entity" its functionality is very limited and inflexible (only IC calculations, no support for minority interest, no support to different consolidation methods).

It means I really need "Adjustments and Elimination" business rules. Does anyone know how to force "Adjustments and Elimination" business rules to post eliminations in elimination (artificial) entity?

    Regards

    M.

Some interesting rumors have surfaced this week regarding the Microsoft, Google and Facebook juggernauts.
First, Michael Arrington from TechCrunch set the blogosphere afire Friday when he reported that a group of industry luminaries attended a cloak-and-dagger meeting at Google's headquarters to discuss how to deal with Facebook, whose 40-million-plus users aren't the issue so much as its open development platform. Arrington said not one but THREE sources fed him the info (can you say leak?).
Then the Wall Street Journal sparked the market Monday by reporting that Microsoft is in talks to buy a minority stake in Facebook, for whom it is an advertising provider, for $300 million to $500 million. Of course, Google has also expressed interest in taking a piece of Facebook. Let's examine both reports.
As for the Google-Facebook meeting, Arrington reported that Google's goal is to fight Facebook by being even more open than the Facebook platform. To do this, he wrote, Google will announce a new set of APIs on Nov. 5 that will let developers tap into Google's social graph data.

Supposedly, Google will start with Orkut and its iGoogle personalized home page, and extend it to Gmail, then Google Talk in the future. But apparently, Google also is planning to give developers in its network the ability to pull Orkut data outside of Google and into third-party applications via the APIs.

Furthermore, Google also is considering allowing third-party social networks to give access to their user data to developers through those same APIs.

DB:2.74:Sap Bpc 10.0 Nw Unexpected Results In Consolidation Of Investment a7

    Dear Experts,

I have come across an issue where once Consolidation is executed from Consolidation Central, system posts unexpected results while eliminating Investment / Equity and posting Minority Interest.

The Ownership structure is as follows:

    CG_1: Co. A Holding Company

    CG_2: Co. A Holding Company owns Co. A1: 60%

    CG_3: Co. A Holding Company owns Co. A2: 70%

    CG_4: Co. A Holding Company owns Co. A3: 80%

    CG_5: Co. A3 Holding Company own Co. A3.1: 55%

    CG_6: Co. A3 Holding Company owns Co. A3.2: 75%

Company A3 is being held by Company A and it further has it's own subsidiaries.

Following data was uploaded to test the scenario:

    Investment Dr.

    Bank Cr.

This was done for holding companies i.e Co. A Company A3 with trading partner.

    Bank Dr.

    Equity Cr.

This was done for subsidiary companies.

Once the Consolidation of investment is executed, system reverses all the entries and the whole balance sheet becomes zero, as per the rules, there is no Minority Calculation done, the destination Audit used in the rules is also not picked up.

Please share your views on this, what can possible go wrong ? I have tried a lot of changes in the system but this just won't get resolved.

    Hi Arnold,

The issue has been resolved, it was a very minor mistake that I had done for my Currency Translation. Companies having a currency same as GC, I did not configure AS_IS currency conversion rule for them, so as a result, currency translation used to zero out the data leaving nothing for elimination.

Thanks a lot for your help.

New interview with Shahid Ahmadabout indies on PlayStation.

You work with a lot of Vita developers. Japanese publishers Atlus and NISA recently told us that they would like to see Sony put more support behind the device in the West. What is the plan for the handheld in the UK?
As far as Vita’s concerned, we’ve got a truckload of content coming down the line.We have over 50 titles coming from independent developers. There are some titles where we talk to large entities where we can’t actually discuss details and so on, but they get announced as and when. So we’re very busy.
I’m not sure if you’d call Vita a massive success, but it’s certainly been doing good numbers, it’s been steady, and software is coming practically by the day. The catalogue is really healthy now.Software is no longer a problem on Vita, I would say. There are still people saying ‘I want this on Vita’. You can’t have everything; there are commercial realities. But we are seeing more and more, and I don’t think people are going to run out of Vita games anytime soon.

You must have many developers coming to you interested in developing for PS4. Do you go back to them and suggest they bring those titles to Vita too?
We’re actually hearing just as much interest from developers on Vita as we are on PS4. I really didn’t expect that – I expected all of the focus to be on PS4 and a really tiny minority on Vita, but it hasn’t worked out that way at all. It’s a healthy sign. There will be some developers who are very PC focused and won’t want to make a Vita version, but they are actually in the minority.

There arguably hasn’t been a definitive indie hit like Thomas Was Alone this year. What does that mean for the indie market?
I think we’ve had quite a few titles that have had a similar level of success to Thomas Was Alone.Velocity 2X was absolutely amazing; it’s done over a million downloads and has 91 and 87 Metacritic scores on Vita and PS4 respectively. It’s from a studio that had never made a PS4 game before. So I would say that’s been pretty special.
Thomas Was Alone was important, because it was the first clearly identifiable indie title that made it big on PlayStation. After that you had Hotline Miami, Spelunky and so on. That was all exciting, but once you have that first one it’s difficult to recreate the same amount of ‘Oh my God’ and media coverage.
PlayStation’s recently changed; it’s working with independent developers and this is now a thing. So after that we had just a stream of titles coming out. Last year, we had over 50 titleson Vita; we have a similar number this year and even more next year.
Of course, there is the little game you might have heard of called No Man’s Sky on PS4 next year, too.

    Hello,

In order to accomplish the Mexican laws for consolidation, Is there any SAP note that can be implemented to support the Mexico requierements about consolidation of investments?

One of the requirements is to calculate the minority interest in PL, similar to the minority interest (this is in balance), in Mexico we call it MP (Method of Participation). I understand that I can prepare a reclasification or manual posting in order to get this but I want it to know if already exists some for Mexico.

    Thank you very much.

DB:2.68:Consolidation Of Investments In Mexico kz

From what you have described, this appears that the manually calculated entry is the application of the equity method to realize the parent's share of the investee earnings as both an update to the investment balance as well as to the earnings statement. Then the COI task determines and posts minority interest, which is the purchase method.

Having both is inconsistent unless the equity earnings is eliminated in the interunit eliminations.

However I have experiences where the both methods is required for different but separate reporting requirements. In such cases we created two hierarchies where for one the equity method was assigned for all units and groups and for the other the purchase method or combination of methods was applied, depending on the reporting requirements. In these cases, the COI task must be separately executed for each hierarchy and reporting for each is separate as well.

DB:2.67:Is Coi Required For Cgc? s7

    Hi,

During the initial configuration of our data model the tasks for COI and CGC were out of scope and necessary cubes and objects have not been activated. We have defined the data streams only for totals records and documents. And we only have one consolidation area. So far any organisational changes were made at the beginning of a new year. Now the desire arose to move consolidation units mid year (within the management reporting structure only). Within our company structure there are only wholly owed subsidiaries (so no minority interest) or 50/50 JV's. Currenty the COI elimination adjustements are all posted manually.

Can the Consolidation Group change be implemented without the activation of the addional cubes for COI? Or are some items from COI required for the CGC task?

Is the config requirement much different when moving a company mid year than at the end of the year?

Your input would be very much apreciated.

    Tanja

DB:2.67:Is Coi Required For Cgc? s7

Yes, COI may be configured to some extent without being fully implemented. I presented on this very topic at the SAP Financials 2011 conference in Las Vegas a few months ago.

It is correct that the appropriation of RE must be configured for cons group changes tasks. When COI is not implemented this is included in the cons group changes configuration, but when COI is implemented it no longer appears in cons group changes configuration and is then included in the COI setting configurations.

Because of complexities of COI it is suggested you avoid using it unless there is truly value in using it. Implementing it only for cons group changes is not enough reason alone. The data for prior years will continue to exist for reporting without COI. As mentioned there is no harm in leaving the cons unit in the hierarchy within the divesting cons group for several years if it accommodates the reporting of year-over-year reporting.

Or so the site says. That exact same company/site tends to put SteelBook on a lot of the "newly released" movies possibly to fuel sales. They had the exact same thing with UP and everyone was happy because it was going to be a 3 disc release... except they didn't get one afterall.

Just downloaded the 1080p trailer from the online store...great stuff!

I had watched the trailer a few days before on a couple of websites, poor quality ofcourse (but never-the-less eternally grateful for the early release vids) and I didn't quite grasp the meaning of the trailer and the basis of the storyline for Haze. If I'm honest, the poor quality of the trailers threw any interest in the storyline right out the window! (sux to my limited attention span)

I'm probably in the minority here, but it's only just clicked, having watched the trailer from the 'store' about the basic storyline set for Haze. Can't wait for it's release, just to find out how it develops.

DB:2.63:Regarding The New 'Haze' Trailer! xs

That video of course was part real actors and part CGI, no in-game footage there. I know these next-gen games are looking more and more like the old day CGI, but it really isnt that hard to tell the difference. I'm not talking about the lack of a hud or similar, i'm talking about the smooth animations of the characters in the video and the lack of defects from real time in-game rendering such as aliasing. When you've played enough PC and console games you get an eye for these things.

Hmm, guess I don't quite have the nack of which is which at the mo. Still...will wait and see what the ingame play looks like.

We are at the very beginning stage of implementation of BPC. We are planning to use it for both Consolidations and Planning. At this time, we are awaiting the system insatallation.

Both Consolidations and Planning require the following:

Eliminations, Currency conversions, Validations, Equity and minority interest postings, intercompany bookings, automatic adjustments and at least 8 reporting currencies. The rules and master data should be leveraged by both functions - Consolidations and Planning.

The question is: In the interest of time and efficiency, does one start with the preconfigured Finance App or the preconfigured LegalApp?....or does it even matter because per the admin manual "You can add available tables to an app"

    Thank you.

    DB:2.62:Legalapp Vs Finance App pd

In the case you want to use the business rules, I would start with the LegalApp since this app has much more preconfigured business rules tables for eliminations etc.

Personally I always think it's easier to get rid of what you don't need then to create something you need which is not yet in the application.

    Hi experts,

I am having the the following holding structure but as beginner to HFM I am not sure how can I build rule it on HFM.

If the current entity consolidated is 4600 then execute this logic.

Entity 4600. has 50% ownership interest on entities 4603, 4604, 4605 and 4608. Entities outside of own the rest 50%.

At the end of an accounting period all these entities consolidates 100% to 4000 (4000 is default parent of these entities 4600,4603,4604,4605 4608)

    ..........|-3000
    ..........|..........|-4000
    ..........|..........|...........|-4600 (100%+50%+50%+50%+50%)
..........|..........|...........|-4603 (50% roll up to 4600 and remain 50% roll up to 4000)
..........|..........|...........|-4604 (50% roll up to 4600 and remain 50% roll up to 4000)
..........|..........|...........|-4605 (50% roll up to 4600 and remain 50% roll up to 4000)
..........|..........|...........|-4608 (50% roll up to 4600 and remain 50% roll up to 4000)

    Thanks.

    Hello all,

How we calculate Interest calculation for cwip Assets.

    DB:2.61:Interest Calculation md

    Hello

    Presume Investment Management is active.

Therefore, the SAP IM component makes it possible to calculate interest automatically. You can also capitalize the interest differently in different depreciation areas on the asset under construction. However, you can only calculate interest for investment measures that are managed as projects (not orders).

You make the system settings for this in Customizing for the Project System. Choose Project System Costs Automatic and Periodic Allocations Interest Calculation.

If you only need interest for management accounting purposes (not for capitalization), you can use the corresponding functions in the Asset Accounting (FI-AA) component. There you can calculate interest for the asset under construction belonging to an investment measure. This calculation takes place during the calculation of depreciation, using an appropriate interest key. You can then make account assignment of this interest to an interest account and to a CO receiver, usually a cost center.

DB:2.61:Dividend Reclassification - Minority Interest Pl ms

    Hi

I need clarify on the following.

For example: I have one Holding and one subsidiary company. (90% Held by Holding Co.)

Subsidiary company has declared dividend (expenses a/c in PL appropriation) of USD 100 out of which 90% goes to Holding company as dividend income.

I do Investment income elimination between holding and subsidiary company based on trading partner.

Now I am left with USD 10 in subsidiary company as balance dividend expenses.

I have configured appropriation of retained earnings in income statement.

Now I want the dividend expense of subsidiary to be moved(reclassified) to Dividend M.I.(PL a/c).

I tried to post this by using reclassification with posting level 20 and 30. But when i executed the task with the document types of posting level 20 and 30, the system gave message "posting is not necessary".

So I changed the document type from posting level 20 to posting level 10. After this I am able to do the dividend reclassfication which transfers from dividend expenses a/c to Dividend M.I. (PL a/c).

But the dividend reclassification entry should be part of consolidation process. So I feel this entry should come in posting level 30 or 20.

Can anyone tell me is there any specific setting which will enable this document to post in posting level 30 or 20?

DB:2.58:Problems With Equity Data As Afd In First Consolidation Activity x1

    Hi Experts

We are implementing SEM-BCS 6.0 with the COI functionality using the purchase method according to Local GAAP, we decided to have the investment data as AFD and the equity data as both Totals and AFD, taking RE and Dividends from Totals, and the rest of the activities (1st consolidation, inc. and red.of capitalization) taken from AFD. The AFD is loaded via flat file so that they could insert additional field data such as short description of the movement and date of the movement, those fields were inserted previously in the data stream fields tab as additional fields in the equity and investement data in our data basis. This is useful because we wanted to have all the detailed historical movements of investments and equity from previous years available for consultation.

    The other settings are:

Goodwill generated per method with amortization

Statistical Equity Items generated and same minority interest item assigned to each equity item

Net Income Tab and Distirbution of Dividends Tab mantained in Appropiation of Retained Earnings

Statistical Net Income Items created and assigned

Default sequence of activities with no changes

COI method with Purchase Method, group shares and ordinary amortization

We ran the "Check Settings" function and we only recieve warnings for investment items not been mantained in the statistical equity tab, but they appear in the Minority Interest tab so we decided to ignore the messages.

The problem comes when running de COI Task, previously we uploaded first consolidation data as AFD in Investments and Equity and ran the Activity Number Matching.

When running the COI task the generated document that has all the Elimination, Minority Interest and Goodwill entries displays the following error message: UCD1011 Balance sheet/income statement balance X,XX, meaning that the document is not correctly balanced. Note: the clearing items for B/S and I/S in selected items are correctly defined.

We analyzed the document and saw that that the Minority Interest data was not correct. In fact the minority interest amount corresponded to the 100% of the equity, as if the share was 0% and that is not the case, but the goodwill was calculated correctly according to the share we uploaded. Example:

    A's share in B is 90%

    A's investment value = 1000

    B's equity = -1000

MI should be -100 and Goodwill 100

    The document should be:

    CompanyItemPeriod Value GC

    AInvestment-1000

    BEquity 1000

    BMI -100

    BStat Equity -900

    BStat Clearing 900

    AGoodwill 100

Our COI task generates the following, with an incorrect -900 total balance:

    CompanyItemPeriod Value GC

    AInvestment-1000

    BEquity 1000

    BMI -1000

    BStat Equity -900

    BStat Clearing 900

    AGoodwill 100

There is no problem in generating the MI if we take the equity data from the Totals Data but we need the AFD for first consolidation activities in our initial run.

Any clue or solution is appreciated

    Hi

The problem was solved after sending a message to SAP, the problems is related to our changes in the additional fields of the AFD , but with note 1495730 the posting documents are generated correctly in COI and balance is fine.

DB:2.56:Raspberry Pi Model "C" Without Dsi And Csi? xj

I found those DSI and CSI connectors puzzling from the start.

The Pi already provides two display options as standard, HDMI and composite video. Although some people will be interested in a 3rd option such as a MIPI Alliance display board attached to the DSI connector, it seems very peculiar to be increasing the BOM cost of every Pi manufactured by incorporating this 15-pin DSI connector into the design. After all, it is certain to be only of minority interest as a result of the 2 other options being available as standard.

The CSI-2 interface is also a 15-pin MIPI Alliance connector, and it's another peculiar choice to find on every Pi. After all, webcams are universal, low cost, and attach through USB which Pi already supports, so only a very small minority are likely to be interested in purchasing a dedicated CSI camera board. And yet, as with the DSI connector, this extra burden has been added to the BOM cost of every Pi, even the $25 model A.

It doesn't seem to make much sense on cost, to my way of thinking, and there is yet another non-monetary "cost" to consider --- adding those two 15-pin MIPI connectors must have contributed PCB layout/routing difficulties as well, and has probably meant that other useful signals were not brought out.

Given the above, it's worth speculating what another Raspberry Pi model could be like, if those two connectors were crossed off the list for a hypothetical new Raspberry Pi Model C.

The simplest case just removes those two connectors and replaces them with nothing. This could be enough to warrant a new price point for the Model C, below the $25 mark, particularly if the tracks and the corresponding vias are removed along with the connectors. In the quest for a lower price point, perhaps even the current GPIO headers and corresponding tracks could be considered optional as well..

A much more interesting case would be to remove DSI and CSI but add another row of GPIO-type headers on the opposite edge of the board to the current 26-pin P1. This would provide the physical support for a daughterboard which many people have suggested would be useful. I suspect that the SoC has plenty of other interesting signals that could be routed to such a second row of headers.

    Morgaine.

    Hello!!

This is our first consolidation process in SEM 600 after an upgrade from SEM 400. We cannot finish the consolidation process for the period 5 in our productive system.

We want to consolidate the period 5, when we execute the reclassification task 2059 with the document type C3 included in the consolidation of investment apparently it works fine but when we execute the consolidation of investments task 4100 in the Company G6011 doesn't take care about the amounts involved in the document type C3.

This document Type is included as a standarized entry in settings of location of values but it seems that it doesnt work.

We can verify this because the company G6011 has a 45% of minoritaries and it should calculate this percentage in the position F799 of the document type C3 (239556,28 * 0,45 = 107800,33). This entry is missing but in previous periods of consolidation for this year, operating with SEM 400, a document was posted.

We are customized the item F799 in Consolidation of investments/Settings/Equity in the Minority interest label.

We cannot see how calculate the consolidation of investments task 4100 in the minority for the P/L positions.

You may also check the balances of the COI statistical items to see if these are correct and agree with the pre-upgrade values. There are ways to repair this.

You may also want to execute the Analyze and Repair Data Streams in the BCS workbench tools view. This may point out data inconsistencies that may be the cause.

    Hello,

We are using the purchase method in consolidation of investments, the system is calculating correctly all, the minority interest, the goodwill, the amortization of goodwill, the clearing of investment and capital.

The problem is that our client needs to calculate a kind of "minority" amortization of goodwill,

this is, is similar to the calculation of minority interest but in this case is for the amortization of goodwill. So, if we have in Profit and Loss statement the amortization of goodwill, our client (in Mexico) needs the minority of this. So, this minority in PL could be calculated like (100% - %group share) * Ret Earnings of the subsidary.
