When viewing the resource usage in Plesk for a particular domain, where Mailbox quota is listed, there is a - showing under the Used column of the resource usage report.

Can anyone help shed any light on resolving this? Thanks in advance.

It´s easy, click on the domain that you want, access it, and them click on the Statistics, not the web statistics and others, the Statistics, and will appear above the Summary Report, like as the old versions.

I think that is this that you want.

I increased the mailbox quota in WGM from 2GB to 6GB, before the mailbox limit had been reached, The next day no mail could be received at this is address, and when I checked Server Admin, it reported that the mailbox was full. I restarted the mail service, and the server itself, and lowered the quota to several other limits, and now the mailbox limit is shown at less than 1GB, with a negative amount in free space. I repaired the mailbox, downloaded and installed mailbfr, and repaired the box, tried to fix the quota, but no luck.
Has anybody experienced such an issue?

DB:3.89:Percentage Free In Mailbox Quotas Are Wrong 39

Mostly a cosmetic issue, but kind of worrying.

The 'percentage free' column for mailbox quotas in Server Admin is completely inaccurate.
Nearly all accounts are listed as 100% or 99%, despite actually being 30% free or some such other markedly different value. One account is even listed as 101% free.

This doesn't bother me too much, because the actual values are there as well. The only issue might be whether users are getting their warning messages in time to actually do anything about it.

In one or two cases the quota has been filled to the extent where the user cannot even delete messages to free up space; an IMAP quota limit error returns when attempting to delete messages in Mail.

By the way, cyrus-quota gives accurate results.

    Any ideas?

DB:3.89:Percentage Free In Mailbox Quotas Are Wrong 39

I made a post about this previously in 10.4 server and was hoping to see this fixed in 10.5, but obviously the issue remains. See my post for my experience with hard limits on quotas here: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7342127

    Hello all,

I am not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this but I think it\'s either Post office or SOAP issue.

I have a Blackberry User that ran out of space 1 week ago and cleaned up her mailbox. She is able to send emails out of her mailbox fine but not from the Blackberry device. Error is Send Failed and the Messaging Agent logs claim that SOAP returned response Attempt to add/modify past disk space limit.

Why is GroupWise reporting this to Blackberry via SOAP when she has space? I ran all repairs and update user total on account using local GWCheck. I thought that maybe given a day the servers would recheck and be ok in the morning, but she still can\'t send.

Yesterday she had 2.7 gbs used and 3gb quota. I uped the quota to 4gbs and ran the repairs. But for some reason SOAP is still sending out this response.

My thoughts are maybe Enable Caching being enabled on Post Office is causing some update issue? Or I need to restart the Post Office? To clear something up that old SOAP is finding for the user. Any thoughts?

DB:3.64:Thread: Mailbox Quota And Blackberry Issue dx

The feedback I got from Novell was that this was fixed with SOAP back in 2008 and that it\'s up to RIM to use the API call to see the changed setting.

But we\'re seeing the EXACT Same thing as well, so looks like it\'ll be a fun battle to open a call with Novell and RIM to get the two to talk together again.

    Hello
    We're running Exchange 2010 SP2 RU3 on Windows 2008 R2/VM environment in DAG configuration.
Recently, I am seeing mailbox size limits for users change randomly, for example, if I increase User A mailbox size limit to (issue warning/Prohibit Send/Prohibit Send Receive) 4GB/4.25GB/4.5GB. After few hours and sometimes couple of days, the mailbox size
will auto set itself to 2GB/2GB/2GB. If mailbox size limits are increased near to database quota default, then database quota default will turn on itself.
I cannot find anything in MSExchange Management shell logs if someone or some script is doing it. And I haven't heard of this being issue anywhere so trying to figure how I can track down what's making this change.
Anyone else experienced this issue or have any thoughts on if it can be tracked? (we've cmdlet logging turned on)AKL

DB:3.64:Mailbox Size Limits Change Randomly cs

Sorry, I believe you didn't get the issue correctly.
I know how to set database level defaults mailbox level quotas and I am aware how they operate, I know powershell cmdlets as well.
I am just saying - they change on their own - For example:

I run cmdlet Get-Mailbox UserA | Set-Mailbox -IssueWarningQuota 4GB -ProhibitSendQuota 4.25GB -ProhibitSendReceiveQuota 4.5GB -UseDatabaseQuotaDefaults:$falseI run cmdlet to verify Get-Mailbox UserA | fl -Property *Quota*, and it shows correct quota I set on step 1.After few hours, if I run step 2 again, the quota is changed - and there's no log of anyone changing it.

    AKL

Have you checked the admin audit logging when you say there is no log of anyone changing it? If someone or something is changing those using Exchange tools, it will get recorded.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335052.aspx
Otherwise, I have never heard of that.

You need to make sure you are running the SP1 version of 7.0. This issue was resolved in 7.0.1. You may also try turning on/off the setting in ConsoleOne and make sure it replicates to the online mailbox and then make sure a successful send/retrieve is performed so that the setting is pushed to the caching mailbox.

    Hello
    patavana,

    Thank you for posting here.

I understand that you are receiving an error message "mailbox quota exceeded" and this is the reason why you are unable to receive emails. Let me explain this to you briefly.

The reason for this error message is when your account'sstorage capacity exceeded the limit. Please be informed that the limit for free Outlook.com account is 5 GB and 10 GB for the Ad-free Outlook.com account. To solve this issue, you need to delete email
messages from your mailbox so you can free some space from your storage.

If the issue persists, please provide us the affected email address through the private message I created so we can investigate the issue on our end. Sign in and click the
Private Messages tab to view and to respond to my private message.

I'm trying to use EWS to get the quota on a particular mailbox. I've seen some

    other
posts that reference getting the mailbox quota through PowerShell, but that isn't an option in my environment. Is there any way to get the quota using EWS?

    Hi,
If you can use Remote powershell to get the quota, then you can use get-mailbox command through remote powershell, which works like webServices programmatically, i.e. you need a host Uri and credentials to connect to exchange server, and then run get-mailbox
command and get data. The difference between running Powershell locally and remotely is, that you would would not get exact data types in most cases, and just would get serialized data.
Plz have a look into it:

This has only happened with 1 email. We are able to move any other email to any subfolder, but this one. The email has downloaded the files attached to the email and is now just setting in their inbox. When we try to move it to a subfolder, this message appears.

My company implemented Exchange 2007 in July of last year (2007). We have a dilemma in our implementation of quotas that is fueled by what appears to be a technical issue with the Exchange 2007 mailbox-database architecture. (or perhaps a malformed environment!).

The problem we face is this:

If we implement a hard quota, we've found that we are unable to reverse the designated restriction (send/receive) once the user has cleaned up their mailbox. The problem appears to be related to the dumpster retention time. If data is moved off of the server (i.e. into a PST archive) or even deleted, it goes to the dumpster; which to my knowledge still occupies recorded space in the mailbox and counts against the quota. The only solution to re-enabling the mailbox once the quota is reached that we can find is to either expand the quota or enforce cleanup and then move the mailbox to clear the whitespace. I guess that's a workaround.

What we really want is this:

    A) Migrate data the off of the server into a PST such that the quota is not exceeded.
    B) Exclude the data from the dumpster so it is not included in the dumpster retention period.

Most departments consider mail communications business-critical, so having an inbox offline for an extended and unspecified period (when would the space be re-stated in the database?) because of quota violation is not acceptable.

On the other hand, we could fill up and dismount databases at any time because hard quotas are not set.

    What are we doing wrong?

DB:3.49:Mailbox Quota - Outlook Client And Exchange Quota 3x

I am trying to clear us some apparent discrepancies of what I am seeing in Outlook 2013 clients connecting to an Exchange 2013 mail server.
On the Outlook 2013 client - from File - Mailbox cleanup - there is a bar graph on the client in question that shows: 155 MB free of 20 GB

First off - I thought the default file size limit ofPST or OST file size for Outlook 2013 was 50 GB - so not sure why it seems to be indicating a 20 GB limit?
Is the limit inherited from the Exchange server? If I go to this mailbox in EAC and look at mailbox usage - right now the quota is specified as unlimited (whether unlimited is a good idea or not is another matter). The radio box is selected for Customize
the quota settings for this mailbox. Issue a warning at (GB) is specified as -unlimited.
In EAC for this mailbox in question - in mailbox usage - it shows 8.39 GB used.
If I go back to Outlook and look at the account settings - Data Files - and then look at the OST (at the file location on the local machine)- it shows it as 28 GB.
So - I have several things that don't seem to add up:
    1) Why does the Mailbox Cleanup indicator in Outlook show 155 MB free of 20 GB? And - do I care?
    2) Where is the 20 GB limit coming from if the limit for Outlook 2013 is 50 GB and the quota on the mailbox in OWA is unlimited?
    3) If there in fact is a limit of 20 GB - why is the OST 28 GB?
    4) Does it make sense that the OST is 28 GB but the EAC shows this mailbox is using 8.39 GB?

DB:3.49:Mailbox Quota - Outlook Client And Exchange Quota 3x

    Hi,
Firstly, I'd like tp explain, if you don't change the registry, the default size limit for Outlook 2010 OST file and PST file is 50G. And the regidtries just can control the file size limit not mailbox size.
Additionally, Mailbox cleanup is related to mailbox size not OST file. Since OST file can cache public folder inforamtion, its size is large than mailbox size. For the Mailbox Cleanup indicator, I recommend you empty your delete item folder.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.

Hi - Im running 9.3 for Windows with MailEnable 4.16.

I dont host too many domains and they are all basically mine so I like to setup the template to just keep everything as Unlimited. So I create the domain based off of that template and everything looks fine as I create the domain and get through the wizard until finished.

Then I got to create a new mailbox on that domain and rather then showing (Unlimited) I get:

Default for the domain (97.7 MB)

I can enter a size, but nothing over that 97.7MB will work. Where is this limit configured? Can I create a mailbox larger then ~100MB?

You can download this script which dumps mailbox quota and used mailbox size:
    http://www.messageops.com/blog/index.php?/archives/17-The-new-Get-MSOnlineUser-Command.html
It previously got the mailbox size using the Get-XsHostedExchangeMailbox Powershell command , but for some reason that doesn't work if your users are on a particular North American server in Microsoft Online. I asked support about it and they said
the Get-XsHostedExchangeMailbox command isn't supported against Microsoft Online Servers. So I then swtiched it to use the Get-MSOnlineUser command (which is actually better), to retrieve the mailbox size. I haven't got around to updating the text
of the blog entry, but if you download the script, it's updated.

I assume this is a bug. I found a way around it that I thought I would post in case someone else ran into this issue.

I had a customer who was getting the mailbox quota exceeded message and could not send/receive email. I went in and changed the default mailbox size for the domain, which then showed that the users had plenty of additional space in the mailbox accounts. However, they were still receiving the mailbox exceeded quota error and couldnt send/receive email. Plesk was showing they had plenty of space and were well below their quota. Their mailboxes were all set to use the default mailbox size for the domain.

However, when I went in to one of their accounts via webmail, Horde was saying their quota was now 0MB. When I went into the specific mailbox and changed it from using the default mailbox size to a specific number slightly less than that, it changed the mailbox quota size like it should have in the first place. So the users were then able to send / receive email.

That is my very disappointing experience, as well. I dont want to set individual mailbox quotas, but I want all of the accounts for one domain to use not more than a total of xMB. According to the help guide, the domain disk limit included mail, but that is not the case. For testing purposes, I created an account with a 1mb limit, which owns a domain with a 1mb limit, and a mailbox with no quota. The mailbox will accept any number of 1mb attachments.

DB:3.42:Another Ms Press Issue? Setting Mailbox Quotas... 9s

The book is correct, although it's not using the most efficient way of setting values using the shell. The quota parameters default to KB on the set-mailbox command. The EMC accepts values as MB.
You can override the default behavior of the shell by specifying the units when you run the command. So if you want to set a quota to 200MB, you can run:
    set-mailbox administrator -IssueWarningQuota 200MB
which is the same as running the following (because the parameter defaults to KB when you don't specify units):
    set-mailbox administrator -IssueWarningQuota 209715200
    Or you can use GB:
    set-mailbox administrator -IssueWarningQuota 2GB
When you enter a value, you can qualify the value with any of the following units:

    * B (bytes)
    * KB (kilobytes)
    * MB (megabytes)
    * GB (gigabytes)
    * TB (terabytes)Senior Technical Writer - Exchange. This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties, and confers no rights.

    DB:3.40:Exchange 2013 - Quota Notifications Problem kz

    Hello,
First of all I want to express mild disappointment with the way quota notification alerts are documented on Technet for Exchange 2013. The only reference I could find is that QuotaNotificationSchedule parameter of the Set-MailboxDatabase cmdlet no longer
does anything: This parameter has been deprecated in Exchange 2013 and it no longer does anything..
The only other reference I could find is this forum post:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/f30bb2ca-91ab-4e69-a8b6-720e6a8a5b83/exchange-2013-quota-notification-message-not-sent-during-schedule?forum=exchangesvrgeneral
where it says: Quota messages are generated once the user log in to mailbox in exchange 2013.
However, Microsoft Press published a book in 2013 Inside Out: Microsoft Exchange Server 2013: Mailbox and High Availability where QuotaNotificationSchedule parameter is being referenced as a working parameter which controls when Quota notification
    are being sent.
My experience says that the forum post is correct.
    Now onto the problem.
While our customer was still on Exchange 2010 they were the victims of this issue:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2480474/en-us which could easily be fixed with
    CheckWarningQuota registry key.
Now we have migrated those mailboxes to Exchange 2013 and again, users are not receiving quota notification e-mails. Only a few users receive quota notifications e-mails and those are users that got their mailbox created on the new Exchange 2013 system.
Migrated users do not receive notifications. We have tried CheckWarningQuota on Exchange 2013 but it does nothing. Our theory is that mailbox flag introduced in Exchange 2010 SP1 is migrated with the mailboxes to Exchange 2013 and is the
reason why we are not receiving quota notifications again.
    I appreciate thoughts and comments.
    Regards,
    Dinko

I used to manage WEBppliance servers and recently switched to Virtuozzo + Plesk. Can someone please explain the relationship between disk space, mailbox, FTP, and hard disk quotas? Ive gone through the Plesk administrators manual and it doesnt really discuss this in detail.

DB:3.40:Relationship Of Mailbox Quota, Ftp Quota, And Hard Disk Quota pm

From the way I understand it, the issue here is that although ftp/web hard disk quotas are setup per each individual domain userid, mail shares a common userid among everyone on the server. Every night, plesk goes through and recalculates how much each domain has actually used. Im not sure whether a domain can allocate more total mail space than theyre given or not but any total mail space should be considered on top of web space because plesk wont add these together until its batch process overnight.

    Hi Sebastian,

Please update on the current status on the issue. As highlighted by Candee it could take upto several hours depending on the user information and replication time taken between the DCs to update the changes across all DC servers (in, across AD-Sites).
Once done, you can check using OWA first to confirm changes have reflected and you are able to send out emails.

I agree with Red Paint I need this feature too. Todays outlook, when you create account pop3, sets 14 days to leave mail copy in server. So if you have 10 or more mailboxes it can be huge count of mails in these 2 weeks. It is one of reasons why it is needed. Another one - i dont want to remember each time to client, that he need to clean mails. If it possible to do that automatically. Every day I have problems with that.

When we set up our Exchange 2007 server we set the quota limit to 1GB. I have since increased the limit to 5.5GB (5500000KB) in the prohibit send box and 5GB (5000000KB) in the issue warning box of the Mailbox Database Properties GUI (no limit on receive).
This new limit was set maybe a year ago or longer.
I got a message from a user today that he forwarded from the exchange server indicating that he was close to his limit. It showed a bar on the message indicating that he was at 930MB out of 6835MB. Neither of these parameters are what are listed
in the GUI for the mailbox database. I also double checked that he did not have any individual quota limits on his user mailbox-Mailbox settings- Storage Quotas. He is set to use database defaults.
Is ther a cmdLet that can display the current quota settings? AllI have found arecmdLets to set the quotas.
Also, why is the message not displaying the correct parameters for the quota? Furthermoreare the only quota settings the warning message, prohibit send, prohibit send/receive limits?
Could this possibly be a setting in the message format of the alerts that is hard coded?Jeh

    Hi Jeh,

Per my knowledge, Exchange 2007 dont have any limitations on individual folders within an Exchange profile.

How about the issue after you set 6GB for the Prohibit Quota?

When you set on mailbox, the custom settings for the mailbox will instead of the mailbox database defaults (by default,
it will take up two hours for the new limit to apply).

    DB:3.30:Mailbox Quota x9

OK question, when I go to domain preferences I can define how many mailboxes he can have, and also how much mailbox quota he is allowed.

Is the value for mailbox quota for ALL mailboxes for the domain? or for each mailbox?

For example if I set it at 10MB does that mean he has 10MB for all email accounts? or 10MB for EACH mail account?

    Thanks
    Dan

To do that, you would need to set the quota
under the mailbox options for that particular mailbox.

DB:3.30:Update 7.5.1 Mailbox Quota To 0 Kb xx

    Hello,

Is there anything known of the following issue: after upgrading my plesk box to 7.5.1. all mailboxes were set to 0kb.

Most of them were working normally, but some generated error return messages that the mailbox was full.

I was curious if this is a known issue, and how to prevent/solve it instead of turning all individual mailboxes to unlimited.

    Thanks

I have many domains in the system with no mail size quota anywhere for email boxes. FOr some reason if an email is sent to a mailbox and the email has an attachment which exceeds 5 Megabytes, mail enable rejects it saying that quota has exceeded. I have checked mail enable in windows and do not see any limits anywhere. Does anyone know what may be wrong here.

    Thanks

    Hi There,

I have seen many posts on how to gather a report on the mailbox size of each individual, but I am looking for a way to generate a report that lists that mailbox size quota that has been ASSIGNED to that user.

    Is this at all possible?

    Thanks,

You can also run Mailbox Statistics w/ a Box limit of 1 item, and then have GWMBSize parse it. The SizeLimit column shows the Mailbox size limit.

DB:3.29:Mailbox Full Warning Levels In E-Mail Do Not Match Up With Levels In Unity m9

The issue is that the mailbox full warning levels in e-mail do not match up with the levels in Unity. One user noticed this when he had 391,000K in his mailbox. Unity reported that his mailbox was "almost full" however Exhanage was not sending him notices. This is a bit confusing to users. We should get these two notification services in sync. Aside from raising the warning quota in Exchange, what other solution is there?

DB:3.29:Imap Quota Issue In Ms Outlook c1

I'm using non-Microsoft mail server, and use IMAP to connect my mailbox.

Found that after adjusting mailbox IMAP warning level in the server, my MS outlook still remembered the old value and always prompt warning message showing my mailbox is over the quota. I tested in MS outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010. There's still same issue.
    Please help. Thanks.

Again, Outlook knows nothing about server quotas. Resetting an IMAP account can usually be qaccomplished by deleting the account, stopping and restarting Outlook, then re-adding the account.

please someone can suggest a way to reste quota when space become free ?

    DB:3.29:Mailbox Quota Problem p9

    Thats not it...

As you probably know, Plesks implementation of qmail uses virtual domains and all e-mail, server wide, is stored under a single system user. Therefore the amount of mail is actually unaccounted in the hard disk quota... Just try it - login into shell, issue quota username, than send that user a mail and try quota username again... It will be the same.

When you set the Mailbox quota under mail preferences or under Limits for the domain, that gets written to a qmail file /var/qmail/mailnames/domain.com/@mbox.quota and that is a hard setting. If your mailbox gets filled up to that amount, qmail will bounce all further mail for that mailbox.

If I were you, Id check if the mail really is deleted from the server and perhaps try to alter the mbox quota in Plesk... Ant than check if the amount really got changed in that qmail file.
