DB:3.95:Moved Dvr Box And Now No Signal ks

I returned one "additional" outlet: box to Comcast today. It was in my bedroom.

I moved my DVR "main" box from the living roomto my bedroom where theadditional outlet box wasand it will not get a signal.

I called Comcast and was told that relocating the DVR box even to an outlet that worked requires a service call.

    True?

Comcast tried to send a signal but no dice.

I was hoping not to incur a service call fee.

I figured it out myself after spending a few minutes on Google.

I connected the HDMI cable to HMDI Input 1 slot. WRONG!

You must connectyour HDMI cable to the HDMIHD TOTV slot.

    Glad I looked this up.

Not sure why the CS person told me you can't move the main box without a tech visit. This was a simple fix and should have been step one for a trouble call.

Now to cancel the visit. I am posting this as maybe it will help someone who makes the same mistake in the future.

Hi, I was looking at the On Demand list for Starz when the screen froze. I waited a while, then went and hit the power button on the DVR to shut it down. When that didn't work I unpluged it and then plugged it back in. It began to turn on, but once the time appeared across the front, the standby message never went away and the TV could find no signal from the DVR box. Any solutions?

Modem replaced several times, both main box and secondary box replaced several times and still no luck. I have noticed the wi-fi signal is weak in a sense that i cannot connect to wifi using my phone or kindle when i am in other room. Any possbility that weak wi-fi signal is the cause for not being able to watch DVR recordings in bedroom? I do live in an apartment complex so i may have interferring signals from others.

Not sure where else to turn on this issue...

We converted over from Standard Comcast to Xfinity x1 four weeks ago this coming Friday, since then theDVR box in our bedroom has not worked as exptected at all.

    Scenario:

Turn on TV (DVR box is always on), once the screen appears press Guide: Screen shrinks (top to bottom) and nothing else, to clear press channel up or down; Press Xfinitiy button: No reaction. We have found through trial and error the only way to clear this is to remove power from the DVR box and let it "re-synch".

What has been done by Comcast:

    1. Currently on our third DVR box (all exhibit the same behavior)

    2. Currently on our second main DVR box (no change)

    3. Ran all new wiring to all rooms of the main box and modem (no change)

    4. Cables and signal throughly tested to second DVR box

So far we really like the service, but this issue is very annoying and disappointing that no one at Comcast seems to understand what the issue is and therefor how to solve it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

When I record a show, if the Yamaha receiver is not on, no sound is recorded even though the audio signal is going straight from the cable box to the DVR. This is the exact same setup I had with my previous satellite receiver and never had this problem. Comcast support is clueless as to why this would be happening. Any thoughts?

    DB:3.29:Audio Problems With Third-Party Dvr. z1

On a Comcast box, most of the time you can't use both HDMI and analog ports at the same time unless the equipment using the HDMI is turned on. The HDCP handshake between the HDMI output and the other HDMI equipment must be turned on to authenticate the HDCP. This is by design.

The only workaround is to disconnect the HDMI cable from the cable box when you plan on unattended recordings using the analog ports.

With 148.07 (old firmware too) the CC sometimes doesn't 'start up'. hitting down arrow, and toggling CC off/on does restart CC

The version does not seem to always display the on/off notice either, but the selection works (that is if you keep hitting the CC choice it toggles properly even though the symbol does not show on the screen. a new bug, maybe.

I have called the automated help system and had them send a signal to "re-boot" but nothing has happened. Do I need to have someone come out and look at this? The DVR is only about 3 - 4 months old. I had similar problem as yours, except mime use cables connect from RG to DVR/STB.

The viewing on DVR is OK (close to RG), but to STB one was sometimes freezed/paused

The technician replaced the splitter located in the crawl space, then the problem improved a lot, but not quite completely fix it (more acceptable, still a bit annoying)

The technician said a wrong type of splitter was used.

DB:3.27:Hooking A Surround Sound Receiver Up To X1 Dvr Cable Box mm

You may have a perfect storm going on. X1 boxes are not predictable when it comes to HDMI. They have issues. Pioneer receivers are known to have HDMI issues of their own. I have two suggestions for you:1. Check to see if Pioneer has a firmware update for your receiver. When a company like Pioneer posts and update for an AV receiver, they almost always have HDMI improvements in them.2. You may need to wait until your X1 box gets the "2.0 firmware" update which is just beginning to roll out now. Feel free to search the forum and read up on the 2.0 update.3. The fact that your old box worked means nothing. X1 boxes are totally different.

FYI there are older threads running in this forum (use the seach function) that discuss this in GREAT detail.

Since having a technican upgrade our converters to the any room DVR service, our HDTV's take a long time to get a signal from the converter boxes (some up to 3 minutes). The HDMI output from my HD DVR to TV stopped working following a storm. It was working fine for a year and a half before this, but now the TV shows "weak or no signal" from that input. I've switched that HDMI cable to another component and receive the signal with no problem, tried a different cable to a different input on the TV from the DVR and determined that the cable is still working as are the TV inputs. I can get a signal using the component out but this isn't something I want to use long term because all of my equipment is wall mounted with wiring run in-wall. Is it possible that the HDMI output from the DVR was somehow damaged and is no longer sending a signal?

Also, I checked through the forums and tested things like setting the DVR to only output 1080i, tried all resolutions (the TV accepts all except 1080p). Did resets using the red button as well as unplugging the box for 15 seconds. I assume that the box just needs to be replaced but wanted to check here for anything I might be missing.

One cable coming from my wall outlet to a Power Inserter box with "PI-21" on one side (under a barcode) and the cable from the wall outlet inserted into a connection titled "SWM power". There is then a second connection titled "Signal to IRD", with the other end of that cable plugging into my DVR. This DVR can successfully record two items at once.

The new cannot, obvioulsy because the setup is different.

In fact they told me to go to Radio Shack to buy a splitter. That seems crazy as I was NOT informed of anything like this...one of the main features of the DVR is to be able to record two things at once!

If you get a new cable box, install it, and have a reset sent to it and get:

    Menus work

    Sound works

    No video content

    (on the HDMI input)

Call comcast and have them check your account settings for the correct box.

We got a new basic DVR ( MotorolaDual Tuner DVR RNG200N) and the account profile had it as an X1 device.

When the reset signal was sent, it was sent for a X1 box.

    We got the above.

When the account profile was changed to a basic DVR box (RNG200N), and the proper reset signal was sent,

    It fixed the problem

This should be in the troubleshooting guide for comcast.

It took an exchange trip, and at least 6 phone calls to fix the problem.

Unplug both the TV and the cable box. Wait 2 minutes, power up the TV first and then the cable box. Don't hot-swap HDMI cables or connectionswhen the TV is on.

Check with the TV Mfr to see if there is a firmware update for you specific model TV.

Also as a workaround try component cables to get the box up and running, then work on the HDMI issue later.

He failed to mention that i couldnt record in the second room. How is that the same thing? It was driving me nuts trying to figure out why it wasn't working. and i guess that explains it... it's not supposed to work. If I could record off of the internet and some people off ot there cell phone why can't i record from the other room guess that just makes too much sense then you could call it a multiroom DVR?

So what model DVR did you replace? If it had both tuners working, then there should have been two SAT cables, one for each tuner. Or perhaps your old DVR was configured to use just one tuner? You can do that by repeating the new DVR's Satellite Setup from the Setup Menu and specifying that only one tuner is connected at the appropriate setup step. Or, better yet, call DirecTV and arrange an installation appointment to run a second satellite cable from your dish so that you can use both DVR tuners. That should only cost ~$50.

First of all, set the resolution of your X1 box to something other than 1080P. Try 1080i. Also, I recall a couple other people posting in this forum about Slingbox. I am not sure if people solved this or not. I do recall at least one forum member saying he could not get both the HDMI output and component output on his X1 box working at the same time. I had a pain getting system back up first time. Make sure commscope ADAPTER is plugged in and fired up and plugged into the cable outlet it originally worked in.

Have all your STB's (boxes) and modems powered down BUT PLUGGED IN. The boxes will probably try to activate, and that takes 5 to 15 minutes. I had to pull the plug on the main box (DVR) a couple times (without giving up) and it finally got its $#!+ together. Then I powered up the remaining boxes.

FYI: The amp is NOT the power ADAPTER. The amp is somewhere where all the cables meet and the tech should have shown you where that is so you know if you ever need to run another caable and/or add a device.

I had xfinity X1 box and it worked just fine. Went and got X1 dvr box and i cant even get the box to give me a activation screen . It says connecting to the x1 platform then after 5 minda has error code: rdk-03031 . From main signal in wall , i have splitter dividing signal into one for internet and one for cable . I dont think i have a moca filter on device in wall , idk if needed. Also the Internet works just fine . My snr (db) reads 40.0 . Also moca diagnostics says , network :enabled, link: no link . Thanks

DB:3.20:X1 Dvr Box Wont Activate (New Box) m8

That box has a bad or no connection. Something is wrong with the cables, wiring, fittings, wall plates etc...The MoCA filter has nothing to do this. The only thing the MoCA filter does is it prevents your neighbors from seeing what you are watching on your DVR.

I got my new box today via UPS. Changed from a normal cable box to the HD DVR. Hooked it up, powered it on, and logged on to the website, all as instructed in the documentation that came with the DVR cable box.

Logged into the website, and it went through the routine of detecting and verifying that the equipment was connected. Confirmed it and hit the "Activate" button. However, there is no activity from the new box at all. It will turn on, and shows only a Zero in the front display. Cannot select a channel, no menus pop up....nothing but blank screen. However, I am able to confirm through my TV display that it is getting some sort of signal from being connected to the DVR cable box.

Is there a step I missed or is it a faulty box....or does it simply take some time to "download" the channels and authorizations from Comcast?

EDIT by ComcastTeds to Subject line to remove X1 reference. Customer does not have an X1 cable box.

Switched ot a new LG this afternoon. Unplugged cable from old and plugged into new using HDMI. Error message S0A00. Screen say will restore shortly but it never does. The clock says midnight and the channel numbers show but no programming appears. Spoke with customer service who cannot figure it out and now sending tech 3 days from now.

Anyone have similar experiences and suggestions. I don't believe there is any issue between the dvr connection to the tv since the I"m seeing the error message on screen in the HDMI2 slot - I"m certain the issue is from the connection from Xfinity to my cable box.

    Help!

Bottom line is that error message means no or poor signal to the box. If you have checked the connection and do not see anything, you will have to call for service.

    DB:3.19:Dvr/Remote Connection Slow 77

Any delay is the result of some problem in the DVR, since the signals are transmitted from the remote instantaneously. There is no problem with the remote. Quite often problems like this can benefit from removing power from the DVR momentarily, then plugging it back in. The guide data will be lost, but will then be refreshed over a period of a few hours.

You say you tried to restart the receiver. Did the lights come on an it appears to be powered ? If you press the channel up or down on the remote does the power light on the receiver blink when you do ?

No Signal is most times caused by the TV being on the wrong Input / Source.

Try cycling thru all available Inputs using the TVs remote.

It also can be from a bad HDMI cable or connection on either end of he cable.

After you cycle thru the Inputs, if that does not work,

try removing the HDMI cable and then replacing it.

A last thing to try regarding the cables is to change to Component, Red Blue and Green for Video, read and white for audio or an optical or digital coax for audio.

I just changed out the cable DVR box because it was skipping. I have tried 2 new boxes from Comcast. NEITHER new box will send signal to LG TV. They are connected the exact same way as the previous box. I have tried HDMI cables that work on DVD and another TV and are known to be good. I have tried another TV that works on another outlet and No Signal. I have taken the TV and HDMI cables to another cable box and they work fine. I have spoken or chatted with SIX representatives and have spent 6-8 hours over 2 days only to find numerous others with the same problem. Old box worked fine except for skipping on replay. Wish I had it back. Customer service is the worst I have experienced in my life. Was recently told I would have to wait 2 days for a service call and pay $40. What a joke. DB:3.18:I Think We Need A New Box--What Say You ka

We have an R15 SD DVR. Over the weekend I noticed that it was searching for a signal on one of the tuners. So I looked at the signal strength, tuner 1 was at 91 and tuner 2 was at 0. So I switched the cables on the back of the box and got a 0 strength from both. I then I put the cables back to the way the they were and switched them from the wall. Both were 0. So that led me to deduce that:

    a) Tuner 2 is broken

    b) One of the cables doesn't work. Because I get 0 signal when attached to tuner 1.

Since tuner 2 gets no signal no matter what cable is attached that leads me to think we need a replacement box. Thoughts?

DB:3.18:I Think We Need A New Box--What Say You ka

Note that when you switch cables it may be necessary to reset the DVR in orderfor the satellite readings to register properly. Before you replace the box you might waht to do the "switch cabble input" test followed by a red button reset to be sure you have a dead thuner.

Got home from work today and tried to play my DVR recorded show. Everything looks good, it brings up the bar to fast forward, etc and says "To Be Announced" It also shows that the recording is 0:01 in length. the picture/sound stays on the channel I was on prior to accessing the DVR menu. The DVR never plays. This happens to all programs recorded, including those recorded (and played) more than a month ago.

I have had a signal sent to my box, played the About DVR section of the On Demand (which usually refreshes the box) and also unplugged it for 30 seconds, to no avail.

Any other thoughts, hints, or suggestions?

    DB:3.17:Dvr Not Playing xc

I wonder if this is semi-related to the old 12/31/89 recording bug issue. A few years ago, a bug would cause corruption and recordings listed as occuring on 12/31/89. If you tried to play one, it would mess up trying to play back anything else. Even trying to delete them could cause problems. Sometimes, quickly deleting it after a reboot would work. Otherwise, you would need to do the DVR/HDD reset.

I have a Denon 1910 receiver hooked up to my Comcast cable/dvr box and dvd player. I have it hooked up with co-ax cable from wall to Comcast cable/dvr box (Comcast Cisco RNG200) from there to receiver via HDMI. I also have the dvd hooked up to receiver via HDMI. One HDMI cable goes from receiver to Samsung TV. The problem is my cable signal keeps getting dropped when I turn off the cable box and the receiver and TV. The only way to get it back is to unplug the cable box which seems to reset the signal and things work again. It does not do it all the time but enough to get abit tiresome. Have had comcast out to repair but they don't find anything. I think it is the link from the receiver to the box but have no idea why it would stop the signal from coming in and then why restarting the box (via unplugging) fixes the problem. At least until you turn it off again. Am I the only one out there to have this happen?

DB:3.16:Denon Receiver And Comcast Signal Dropped p7

A RNG200 uses 25 watts when on, and 22.2 watts when off, since a DVR is one all the time anyway, your only turning off the video circuit.

The only way to save electricity is to unplug it.

Just to be clear, you cannot "manage" a DVR except on the DVR itself. You can schedule recordings online, from a smart device and from a newtorked HD receiver. You can also delete recordings from the receiver.

You cannot look at the to do list, or move series in the manage recordings screen or do many of the other things that is possible from the DVR itself.

I seem to have yet another dud of a DVR settop box. In the last couple of weeks, the settop box seems to turn off its video output when left in a mode that involves the DVR (e.g. browsing recorded shows, or pause life TV, or pause of any other kind). The TV at this point shows "no signal", and nothing I can do on the settop box seems to bring it back except a hard reboot (power cycle). I had a tech out for this, and he claimed it was my setup. I have both the HDMI cable and the Component cable attached to a AV receiver, but to two different input channels. The tech disconnected the HDMI cable and claimed this was the solution to the problem. I didn't believe so, and indeed, just a day after the tech was out, the same issue happened again (this time without the HDMI cable attached). It always seems to happen when the settop box is in a "paused" DVR mode, i.e. when nothing changes on the screen (e.g. leaving the box in browsing recordings mode, leaving the box in pause live or recorded TV mode). And only after a certain amount of time, like 30 minutes or so. At the same time, I also hear a buzzing sound coming from the speakers.

Any ideas what could be wrong here? Of course, it is not easy to demostrate this to the tech coming out, since it doesn't seem to happen predictably. The last tech even checked the lines, and found nothing wrong (which I suspected, since I don't believe it is a line problem). It also only happens on the DVR box, not on the other settop (non-DVR) boxes.

Its very rare that a stb will cause freezing. If you have had the service for awhile its possible that the connection to your stb is not good. By 'good' i mean either an old splitter, old crimp fittings, or old barrels on your coax line. Any of which will cause freezing. If your using cat5 then you should be set and may need to have the box replaced.

I can say with assurance that it's not due to anything being "old". I installed u-verse shortly after having my house built so all the wiring is brand new plus, I had it properly running from January 2008 until May 2010 without issue. It was around the same time I had my DHCP issue of the RG no longer handing out new IP addresses that I started getting the freeze-up of the DVR STB and now that I think about it, the problem seems to have minimized around the same time the DHCP problem mysteriously solved itself this month.

I was originally running all coax, but switched to CAT5 when the freeze-up problem began and it still continued. Switching between HDMI and component cables didn't help either. Nor did rebooting the STB and RG. Only thing that mitigated the problem was changing my Samsung DLP TV to an unused video input and then switching back.

But, now that I know how to avoid it, I'm not too worried about it until it become a problem that happens every hour again

Just a quick question about my problem.

I have had comcast since 2007 in my home. Have a SA DVR in the family room and an SA HD box in the bedroom. The DVR box is lagging/skipping. Programs are unwatchable on HD channels and the regular non HD channels. Watching on-demand, there is no problems. Watching the same channels on both sets, the DVR skips, the HD non dvr box is fine.

Assume this is an issue with the SA DVR box? Didn't know if it might be as simple as them resending the signal. Also, when trying to change channels or bring up the guide, it's lagging, almost like a slow internet connection or laggy computer.

Since I never had issues before, though I would post here. I am assuming the DVR box is going bad or something but wanted to know from the experts.

This morning, disconnected, exchanged it at the comcast office, and no more issues. So seems like the skipping, freezing, lagging, etc was the cable box itself. Just swapping it out fixed the issue.

    DB:3.14:Hd Dvr Crashing 8f

The HD DVR is crashing, I thought it was TV and was all set to replace the 7 yr old HDTV. One day it was fine the bext day the Live and recorded image was piexelated, delayed, static, cut in half. Thevery old from more than a year ago were fine. The box serving my VCR was also effected since it recieved the signal from the HD box. The VCR tapes were fine. So it was not the TV but the stupid box!!!!!. I just saved Hundreds of $$$$$.

Now I am told a new box will be sent out,but this will erase my previous recordings,Right? It is NOT so surprising that the technician failed to mention this. I wonder how many people reconnect their boxes thinking the shows will still be on the new DVR after the old DVR was returned?

I have a good VCR/DVD recorder as far as VCR's go- a Panasonic DMR-EZ485V. It has a HDMI AV OUT connection unlike our TV with no HDMI connections.

The connections available on VCR :RF input/output, Audio/Video output terminals (DVD/VHS COMMON OUT) , AUDIO/VIDEO input terminals, S VIDEO input S VIDEO output terminal, Audio/Video output terminials (DVD PRIORITY OUT), DIGITAL AUDIO OUT, COMPONENT VIDEO OUT terminals.

So is there a way to transfer the numerous DVR recordings from the DVR that are good to a VCR tape?

    Thanks

    DB:3.14:Hd Dvr Crashing 8f

Rangerk9 - The recordings are on the hard drive and disappear when tat is replaced.

The series setup is a a central processor is applied to the new DVR. Same as any other customizations you may have made.

DB:3.13:X1 Dvr Moved To Different Room Now Has No Hdmi Output Signal xk

Is the HDMI output on the X1 DVR more finicky about the type and length of cable than the satellite boxes?

Last night I swapped the DVR from the living room to the family room. (Now the DVR is in the family room and the satellite box is in the living room). When the DVR was in the living room, it was connected to my 50" Panny plasma via a 6' HDMI cable. Worked fine. Now that the DVR is in the family room where the satellite box was, I can't get any HDMI (Audio/video) output at all. The satellite box sees the DVR and will play content so I know it hooked up correctly. The hook up in the family room is the same as the satellite box was (a 6' HDMI cable from the DVR to my Yamaha receiver, and a 15' HDMI cable going from the receiver to the Sharp 30k projector). Composite video output on the DVR works (I plugged it into an old Sony PC that has a giga pocket video input) and there's a picture. I even bypassed the Yamaha receiver and plugged the 15' HDMI cable from the Sharp 30k directly into the X1 DVR. Still nothing. I haven't tried the component output yet, but I assume that it would be working. It's only the HDMI that's the problem. Before I put things back the way they were before, any suggestions?

DB:3.13:No Signal Message From Tivo am

Has anyone found this past week that their TV is not picking up a signal for most channels. We seem to be able to see On Demand but nothing else. Our TIVO says there is no signal. We have a Scientific American digital box from Comcast, so don't think there should be a problem. This started maybe a week ago. We have another TV with the digital DVR (our main TV) and it works fine. Both TV's run off the same cable, Never had trouble before now.

DB:3.13:No Signal Message From Tivo am

There are several things that worked. First we returned the cable box for another since the power light on the front did not stay on. Replacement not much better the on off switch does not work. Have to push and hold the power button and when you are lucky it finally stays on solid green. The comcast folks have to "authorize" the box so my suggestion is to go straight to the online technician. (The recorded message stuff did not work.) Then go to TIVOs sight and search for "troubleshooting with Comcast cable box". We have a Series 2 TIVO and you now have to change it to a single (not Dual) DVR. So you though the reset to do this. Also, change your channel list by unchecking all the channels marked cbl you only want the channels listed "box" to bechecked. (This helps solve any confusion the DVR will have in looking for analog signals that you no longer get! Also you don't need the splitter now coming into your TIVO because again this great world of ours has gotten rid of our analog signals! Good luck to all!

No response of any kind to remote. I can tell that some signal is coming through HDMI as TV goes from 'no program' to a simple blank screen. Have unplugged/replugged many times.

Tried two remotes, once of which I know works on a cable box of the same type. The other has been programmed for the TV and controls that, so I'm pretty sure the remotes work!

Any magical button combo I can try for resetting the box? Doesn't show up in my apps or online, either.

I just installed a second HDTV DVR via a 1,000 Mhz 2-way splitter. Everything works fine except the new VIZIO 1080p HDTV is only receiving a 720p signal from the HDTV DVR. The VIZIO TV auto senses the incoming signal so there is no setting on the TV I can change. My other HDTV is still receiving a 1080p signal.

DB:3.12:Dvr Box Says No Signal 3z

After my tv has been turned off (and then back on again), or I change sources to watch a DVD (from hdmi 2 to hdmi 3) and then try to watch regular tv again, my tv shows a message of 'searching for signal' and then after a minute changes to 'no signal'. I then have to unplug the power cord from the dvr and plug back in before it'll work properly again and let me watch tv. Is there something I can do to fix this? Thanks!

Hi shimmy2319, were you able to get anything on your TV up and running properly? Did you try component or swap the HDMI?

DB:3.12:Signal Problems Affecting Dvr And Regular Receiver f9

A couple of months ago, my husband moved his regular receiver to another bedroom. He made adjustments at the dish itself to reflect this. Shortly after that on the living room DVR, we started having problems with error 771 ("searching for signal on sat 1/2") on some or all channels and not everything was being recorded, especially when in the same time frame. Also, the DVR would only let us watch and record one channel. We tried to figure out the problem in hopes we wouldn't have to pay for a tech to come out. No matter what my husband tried at the dish, we kept running into the same things: 1.) When the DVR could see two signals for recording and all channels, the regular box had 771 errors on all or multiple channels, or it couldn't find a signal at all. 2.) When we tried to fix the regular receiver, the DVR could only see one signal and we had 771 errors or no signal could be found. We tried a lot of box resets on both units and pulling out the cards, plus resetting from the electrical plug. What are we missing? Note that my husband finally caved and a service tech is coming out Thursday. Thanks all! :)

I have 4 hi-def tvs in the house. Each one is hooked to its own HD/DVR box.Since I don'taccess the DVR from any tv except the main one in the family room, isn't there a cheaper box setup I could get that would give the other 3 tvs the same HD quality signal without the DVR access feature? I'm spending an additional $9.xx per month for each HD/DVR box just to getan HD signal in the other 3 rooms. There should be a cheaper alternative, shouldn't there?

    Thanks much.........

I have an HDMI splitter that I have used to split the HD DVR signal from one box to two TV's in my house. It has worked just fine for the past year. I upgraded to the new HMC-34 box yesterday and now there is no signal going to either TV. I am using the QVS 1x2 HCMI Pigtail splitter. I added a 5v power supply and it didnt help. I also checked that the splitterstillworks on other boxes and it does. Is there something about the new box that prevents the signal from being split?? Anyother ideas?

DB:3.11:Hdmi Splitter Doesn't Work With New Hmc-34 Dvr Box pd

The problem might be caused by EDID or HDCP issues. I wouldrecommend checking KVMSwitchTech as they offer top quality HDMISplitter products. I have purchased a few units from them in the pastand they work great.

If your DVR worked before, then try unplugging the AC power for two minutes, then plug it in and test in 10 minutes. If it still doesn't work, then contact Comcast support and they cand send a signal to the box or confirm you still have DVR service on your account.

If it has never worked, then we need to confirm you really have a DVR box. Post the model for confirmation.

Thanks I did try that initially and it looked like function had returned, but I was on my way out and when I got back 3 hrs later the 8888 was back. This time unplugging did nothing. Was on the phonewith support 3 times... Sent signals...etc. they had me get a new box today. It looks like it may not have been the wii u sending a bad signal but my unplugging during some sort of firmware update.
