All you need to do it to run the command as follows: up2date --nosig mysql

I recently saw a thread about this but just wanted to make sure of a couple things.

I have a virtual dedi hosting plan with CentOS4 and Plesk 8.2.1 (I think). CentOS4 has php 4.3.7, which I want to upgrade to php5. This means I will probably also be upgrading MySQL.

I can find guides on how to do it, but I just want to make sure that I will not break Plesk. Will upgrading PHP and MySQL break Plesk at all, or are the only issues I will have to work with and worry about be general and related for servers with / without Plesk (such as runtime errors from the new version of PHP5, or other general problems that can arise).

Im just not sure how control panels work or how they are integrated with the rest of the server. Id like to upgrade, but I cant afford to break anything.

    Thanks.

    DB:3.87:Upgrading Php And Mysql 83

    Hi:
There were issues with upgrading PHP on Debian: http://kb.swsoft.com/en/1762 , but not on Centos (http://kb.swsoft.com/en/1122 is not that critical). Since PHP is not part of Plesk, and Parallels does not build its own PHP, Plesk uses standard services which are installed on the system. If PHP is found on the system where Plesk is installed, Plesk will use it. If this installation is not found, Plesk will download and install standard packages of the corresponding OS vendor. Simply take PHP5 from the OS distribution and install by means of the OS packet manager in order to avoid possible dependencies conflicts.

There are no specific recommendations or steps because all the steps are identical to any other application update: rpm -Uvh for RedHat-like OSes. If OS vendor does not provide such packages, then you can try to find PHP5 packages with the third parties. There are hundreds of custom builds found all over the world, for example a well known http://www.atomicrocketturtle.com has really been a great source for such updates for many years. The minor of problems which may appear with it are usually related to dependencies to third or system applications and can be solved in an ordinary way.

All dependent Plesk packages necessary for php5 upgrade can be found at http://autoupdate.plesk.com (64.131.90.31) and ftp://download1.swsoft.com , with the exception of PHP5 itself, which is not the part of Plesk.
In fact, you can try to update the package in single transaction (if your mirrors are set correctly), for example:
    yum update php5.x... (RPMs)

The answer is loadVariables() -- just read the ActionScript
    help
included into Flash MX. You create an empty movieclip, then
    apply this
function and then analyze the variables loaded. Please note
    that this
is asynchronous process, so you need to use onEnterFrame()
    handler in
your mc to wait untill HTTP call will be completed (or will
    be timed
out). You can find tons of AS code, illustrating it.

Using Dreamweaver 8.2, MySQL 4.1, PHP 5.1, and PHAkt 3.6.5

I need to use PHAkt along with PHP/MySQL server models but it
seems each requires its own version of DW8's generated
mmServerScripts to access either Oracle or MySQL databases.

How do I get both the PHAkt and PHP/MySQL server models to
exist on the same website with one 'flavor' of mmServerScript (or
both flavors of the mmServerScripts) and be able to access both
Oracle andMySQL databases in the DW8.2 development environment?

Has anyone successfully done this? Any help or suggestions
    are appreciated.

DB:3.80:Phakt Amp; Php Server Models d1

Generally speaking, you don't (not easily, anyway). DW only
    allows one
server model per site definition. It shares a lot of code and
    file names as
    you've noticed.

You might try creating two different site definitions, each
    having its own
server model selected and switch between them while
    developing. I'm not
sure, however, how much of that info may be overwritten when
    you switch.
I've not had to develop in that capacity.

My advice, even though it's not the one you'll likely want to
    hear, is pick
one database and move the other data into it. I've been down
    this road
before, and you're definitely better off consolidating the
    data if you can.

    Best regards,
    Chris

    Hi simply
php upgrade will not affect anything.
leave apache 1.3 working(do not upgrade to apache 2.0)
but mysql 3 - mysql 4 may cause problems
    1. after upgrade of mysql you should make upgrade of Confixx with mysql4 distribution
    2. There are some difference between mysql 4 and mysql 3 which may affect users web applications. Make a backup of all databases before upgrade.

Running Plesk 8.1.1 on RHEL 4.

I was given the standard PHP 4 and MYSQL 4 setup at THE PLANET.

After checking to make sure the Plesk 8.1.1 supports PHP 5 and MySQL 5, I paid the tech to upgrade PHP and MySQL for me.

He did so, and the PHP test page works.

However, when I look in Plesk Server Components it says that PHP and MYSQL are not installed. Consequently it will not allow me to install any application vault packages that use PHP or MYSQL.

How do you get PLESK to see the new PHP and MYSQL installations?

If you use HORDE webmail, I wouldnt suggest upgrading to PHP5 cause it wont work.

MySQL can be upgraded easily... There are two MySQL servers installed - one for Plesk (%plesk_dir%\mysql) which I suggest you leave intact, and one for customers (%plesk_dir%\databases\mysql).
Simply download newer version of MySQL in ZIP file and manually replace existing files while preserving configs + databases from old version.

To update MySQL you should download packed MySQL distro from http://dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/MySQL-4.1/mysql-noinstall-4.1.16-win32.zip/from/pick

Then stop Plesk SQL service, rename folder mysql in %plesk_dir% to mysql_old, unpack mysql 4.1.16 to folder mysql, delete folder data in mysql folder, copy folder data from folder mysql_old to mysql and then start Plesk SQL service.

Same must be done for MySQL service and MySQL instance located in %plesk_dir%\databases to keep clients MySQL also up to date.

What version of php do you want to use at your server. Actually PHP5 doesnt supported completely yet.

    Hi,

Please bear with me as I try to explain this weirdness....

I am running the standard install - PLESK 5.0.2. The standard install includes mysql so the mysql rpms are NOT installed on my RedHat Linux 7.2 server.

PHP 4.0.6 was installed (rpms) by default on my server and I just upgraded to PHP 4.1.2 and installed via the PHP 4.1.2-7 rpms.

Here is the weirdness. While installing the different PHP 4.1.2-7 rpms I came across the php-mysql-4.1.2-7 rpm. This rpm would not install because it has a dependency on the mysql rpm. I would not dare install the mysql rpm because PLESK is handling the mysql stuff and I dont want to screw that up and wipe out any databases on the server. So - I did not install the php-mysql-4.1.2-7 rpm.

What doesnt make sense to me is that the php apps on my server which use mysql backends still run just fine. The way I understand it is that the php-mysql rpm contains the code for php to interact with mysql correct? If thats the case then how is this working???

    DB:3.50:Php 1z

There are no official PHP 4.4 packages for CentOS 4. Red Hat (and thus CentOS) backports fixes instead of doing version upgrades, so if you want to upgrade to PHP 4.4 for security reasons: there is no need to, just make sure you install the latest patched packages by running yum update regularly. (See http://www.redhat.com/advice/speaks_backport.html for more info.)

If you really need functionality that is only available in PHP 4.4 or later I guess youre out of luck with the default repositories. You could maybe install PHP 5.1 from the CentOS Plus repository in that case.

    DB:3.46:How To Upgrade Mysql ... 1x

Personally, I prefer to build MySQL from the Redhat Development SRPMs they offer.

    http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/development/i386/SRPMS/

Download the MySQL-4.1.x-x.src.rpm package from there. After you have it downloaded run: rpmbuild --rebuild MySQL-4.1.x-x.src.rpm

If it complains saying it cant find the command rpmbuild, run: yum install rpm-build

If it complains about missing dependancies from the build, simply use yum to install all the missing packages it needs. Usually on a updated fedora core2, its about 2 packages.

If all goes well, when its finished youll find your RPMs in /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386 (assuming x86 architecture). Now perform: rpm -Uvh MySQL*rpm

That command will usually bomb out because of dependancy problems. Now you have two options. If youre going to stay at PHP4, you can download another SRPM from the same location called mysqlclient10, rebuild it and install the RPM it makes along with mysql.

If youre going to move to PHP5, youre better off grabbing the SRPMs for those failed dependancies (again, all I had to upgrade was perl-DBD-MySQL and PHP). Note that when you compile both perl-DBD-MySQL and PHP youll need to already have MySQL 4.1 installed. So go ahead and perform: rpm -Uvh --nodeps MySQL*rpm. After that follow the same general idea to update those other packages.

Plesk doesnt ship clients PHP, it only downloads it from original OS vendor repo and it is quite likely it may be outdated there (especially for older OS). If your OS comes with newest version of PHP, then Plesk would run this version of PHP for clients.

Is it possible for me to use my current PHP install with Oracle? If so, how do I connect to the Oracle DB? Where can I find documentation specific to PHP and Oracle.

A while back, I read about Zend for Oracle. Is it necessary to install the Zend for Oracle in order to use PHP? I attempted an install a long time ago and the install failed.

Many people use PHP with Oracle. There are a number of books available, and many online resources.

You can add the OCI8 extension to your PHP install directly from PECL, or download and build OCI8 as a shared library. See "Upgrading PHP with PECL OCI8 on Linux", page 70 of the current version (1.5) of The Underground PHP and Oracle Manual.

More and more developers have stopped supporting the versions of PHP and MySQL that shipped with the Linux OS Versions that Parallels is currently supporting with Plesk Panel 9.2.2.

I have spent a great deal of time reading through a multitude of forums over the last few weeks and I havent found a single Linux Admin indicate that they have been able to upgrade PHP and MySQL to newer versions on servers running Plesk 9.2.2 with 100% success.

Will Parallels be releasing an install script for Plesk 9.2.2 that will run on a Linux Distro (other than SUSE) that has been released in 2009? If so, when can we expect to see it?

There must be a means of being able to successfully upgrade PHP and MySQL to the most recent stable version that would allow Plesk Panel and all additional addons to still work flawlessly on at least one of the platforms you currently support. Why dont you do us a favor and write a step by step document showing how it can be done.

Like many hosting providers we need to be able to support newer versions of PHP and MySQL as these products evolve, if we dont then we risk losing some or all of our customer base. If our customers leave, we wont buying new licenses of Plesk or paying to renew SUS. So with that in mind I would hope that someone from Parallels let us know what your development plans are going to be for the near term and long term so that we can plan accordingly.

    Hello,

I have a VPS with PHP 4.3.9, Virtuozzo, Plesk 8.4.0, and Centos release 4.5.

How can I upgrade to PHP 5.2.6?

    Thanks,
    Jack

I have no idea, I dont use SuSE. If there is anyone who packages the latest PHP for SuSE 10.0 you might be able to use those packages. Otherwise youd have to do it yourself.

you might find it more troublesome but without the other php rpms its probably not worth trying the upgrade

I have a couple of questions concering the upgrade of PHP and MySQL for Plesk 7 Reloaded. Does Plesk Reloaded support PHP5? And if so, does anybody know where it is on my server? Or is it different on everybodys? Second, I want to upgrade MySQL to 4.1. I know you can do this, but I just need to know where it is located on my server, and is it now official supported my Plesk 7 Reloaded? Thanks a lot in advanced!

    DB:3.41:Mysql And Php Upgrade ck

Im not sure if 4.1 is supported, but 4.0.x is. I personally would not run a beta product on a production server.

As for PHP 5.0 until ART supports it I wont upgrade. You never know what it might break.

Considering Reloaded is currently only supported on RH systems you can do RPM upgrades via www.atomicrocketturtle.com packages using yum.

    Very recommended.

I do not recommend installing MySQL 4.0.x on any server prior to installing or upgrading to Reloaded. Had some issues related to 4.0.x when upgrading.

    Well,
    it works....

I commented out the webdav modules and all seems to be working. I spoke with someone I work with and it seems there may be issues with PHP and Webdav coexisting nicely on the same system.

    Thanks for a GREAT system.

    Rather than re-install I just unzipped WebServer/devsupport.zip
Then tar up everything inside the include directory and extract the contents here: ws7.0-install-dir/include/

php 5.2.9 compiled with no problem then...

    Hi to all,
I am new with plesk and have some troubles.

    Well my problems are:

    1. Php upgrade. - Install Plesk 7.5 with sw-soft templates, there is php 4.3.2… I want to upgrade it to 4.4.0… Who done it? If I install php 4.4. per hand, will it work properly with plesk?

    2. MySql root pass. May be it’s question for dummies but, I donno mysql root password. How I change it in way PLESK work properly?

    3. Sitebuilder… nice application but I would it switch off or make it available only for some domains… but I cannot login to remote_control.
Default pass is wrong…may be I need something mote to know or how I can change it

    4. Well, what would be interested, is there some CRM solution who support PLESK to manage Hosting Solution

    Thank you

Why not ditch the Virtuozzo templates and use your own rpm-based yum configuration for updating stuff like your php packages?

DB:3.38:Php Could Not Connect To Mysql Over Localhost 1m

    Hello,

I have a problem with connection to MySQL database over PHP.
If I define host address 127.0.0.1 works well. Problem occurs if host address is localhost.
How to allow both localhost and 127.0.0.1?

    Thanks for help.

DB:3.38:Php Could Not Connect To Mysql Over Localhost 1m

Not sure how your question related to Plesk. It is usual administrative task.
Anyway make sure that you have the following entry in /etc/hosts:

    127.0.0.1 localhost

Check allowed hostnames in mysq database.

Noticed that all php scripts stopped working after Mysql upgraded and servers were rebooted. everything is up to date. I rolled back the following and it started working again.

    mysqlmysql-clientslibmysqlclient

Mysql seemed to be running ok otherwise.. I tested perl dbi connections with no issues, and connected with mysql admin tools across the network with no issues. All problems point to PHP connecting to Mysql. I tried running php test scripts from cli to test DB connectivity, but they would not connect. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks,J

    DB:3.38:Centos5 Or Rhel5 Upgrade To Php5.3.X And Mysql 5.1.X How-To fd

    CentOS5 or RHEL5 upgrade to PHP5.3.x and MySQL5.1.x
This is unofficial how-to upgrade Parallels Pro for Linux (formerly Ensim)
Use it on your own risk, but if will get any problems or notices i will be glad to help.
This how-to will work on CentOS5 or RHEL5 with 10.3.x Parallels Pro for Linux (formerly Ensim)

Ok, to start upgrade we must go thru maintance mode and check does all sites are ok and so on:
    set_pre_maintenance
    set_maintenance
    set_post_maintenance
    exit_post_maintenance

It there is no skipped sites, you may begin to upgrade, otherwise you must fix them at first.

To get newer php version we must use some repo like atomic that has new php rpms.
So we must install atomic repo:
    wget -q -O - http://www.atomicorp.com/installers/atomic | sh

After install it dont run yum upgrade, it will update not required packages and may brake Ensim!

Atomic repo has MySQL5.5.x because we dont need it we will ask yum not use MySQL 5.5.x rpms.

    Edit /etc/yum.conf
    vim /etc/yum.conf

and in end of file add:

    exclude=mysql-5.5.* mysql-server-5.5.* mysql-libs-5.5.* mysql-devel-5.5.*

No we need to update php (before pressing Yes check MySQL version, does it is 5.1.x)
IMPORTANT! Before upgrade check that all MySQL database names and usernames dont have - symbol!

    Upgrading mysql:
    yum upgrade mysql

    Adding aditional php modules:

    For 32bit:
    yum install php-xmlrpc php-xml php-soap php-mhash php-mcrypt php-bcmath php-tidy

    For 64bit:
    yum install php-xmlrpc.x86_64 php-xml.x86_64 php-soap.x86_64 php-mhash.x86_64 php-mcrypt.x86_64 php-bcmath.x86_64 php-tidy.x86_64

    vim /etc/init.d/mysqld_app_init
    and remove --skip-bdb

    Replace line:
    SAFE_MYSQLD_OPTIONS=--defaults-file=/etc/my.cnf --pid-file=$PID_FILE --skip-bdb --skip-innodb
    with:
    SAFE_MYSQLD_OPTIONS=--defaults-file=/etc/my.cnf --pid-file=$PID_FILE --skip-innodb

    Also line:
    SAFE_MYSQLD_OPTIONS=--defaults-file=/etc/my.cnf --pid-file=$PID_FILE --old-password --skip-bdb --skip-innodb
    with:
    SAFE_MYSQLD_OPTIONS=--defaults-file=/etc/my.cnf --pid-file=$PID_FILE --old-password --skip-innodb

For PHP5.3.x it is better costumise and use new php.ini:
    Do the old php.ini backups
    mv /etc/php.ini /etc/php.ini.old

    Use the new one.
    mv /etc/php.ini.rpmnew /etc/php.ini

Restart apache to use the new one, and copy it to new sites template.
    /etc/init.d/httpd restart
    cp /etc/php.ini /etc/virtualhosting/templates/apache/etc/php.ini

If you are upgrading existing server with hosted cites, You may need to apply new php.ini to all cites

Ok, now we have latest php 5.3.x, so it it is time to update Ensim FST.
We must add additional RPMs to FST. To do that we must create file: /etc/virtualhosting/filelists/apache.custom.sh

    vim /etc/virtualhosting/filelists/apache.custom.sh

    and add to it:
    See attached

    Now change atributes for it:

    chmod 750 /etc/virtualhosting/filelists/apache.custom.sh

Now we need update FST and go thru maintance mode:

    set_pre_maintenance
    set_maintenance
    set_post_maintenance
    exit_post_maintenance

After it finish you may check does php works ok:

    chroot /home/virtual/sitename/

You must get something like that:
    PHP 5.3.8 (cli) (built: Oct 31 2011 18:26:52)
Copyright (c) 1997-2011 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2011 Zend Technologies

    Now disable atomic repo:
    vim vim /etc/yum.repos.d/atomic.repo
    and change:
    #mirrorlist = http://www.atomicorp.com/channels/at...mirrors-atomic
    enabled = 1

    To:
    #mirrorlist = http://www.atomicorp.com/channels/at...mirrors-atomic
    enabled = 0

    Thats all
If somebody noticed mistakes or some troubles with it, please PM me i will try to add some fixes or addons to this post.

    Hello again all,

Ive beaten my CGI header and my NS problems and now Im ready to tackle some upgrades. I am on a rather new RH9+Plesk602 system with no major upgrades yet. I have installed YUM. While at some point I would like to upgrade Apache 2.x, Perl, PHP and MySQL I plan to start with just PHP(upgrade needed for new site) and MySQL(4.x to match shared host Im leaving)

What are my options for using Scotts YUM/ART packages? I have looked over his site and havent seen a list of the diff packages that he creates YUM upgrades for. I have caught comments in various threads about diff YUM requests and how they will bring in diff level of the software. Is there a definitive list anyplace that I have missed that will enlighten me as to these options?

In another thread on PHP 4.3.4 RPMs scott said

Example, yum install php-mysql, would install php-mysql, plus php, apache, and the mysql rpms. Furthermore, you can designate what are config files, and how the package should behave toward them (overwrite, backup, .rpmnew, etc)

    DB:3.37:Upgrading Php Mysql Via The Turtle(Atomicrocket) 8a

Its certainly growing by leaps and bounds huh?

You can also upgrade to php 4.3.4 if you have an older version of php install by doing: yum update

Ill eventually get mysql cleaned up so that works on an upgrade event too.

Ok so the first thing you should know about PCI testing is that the methods that the QSAs are using are very very inaccurate if they do network based checking. It absolutely *will* indicate problems that dont exist on PHP, apache, ssh, bind, ssl, etc.

If you are running the latest updates from CentOS you are fine on all counts because RHEL/CentOS operate off of a back-porting of fixes model. In fact this will even be indicated on the PCI vulnerability report, if the QSA has not redacted the information from their vulnerability scanner (usually Nessus, which you can download from www.nessus.org).

So first go through the vulnerabilities indicated, and verify that you are running the latest revs of those packages from centos. Submitting that information to your QSA should be enough to certify those vulnerabilities are closed.

All fine except that when i try to log in to plesk, it gives me the configure screen you get when you first install plesk (enter hostname, ips, password). If i submit that page with the details, the first time it wouldnt because it had added about 50 spaces after hostname, Second time, i got wise, deleted spaces and submitted but it looped straight back saying Warning - fill in all the details. They were.

Added logging to php.ini (plesk one not server one) and get (possibly relevantly)..

So anyone know whats going on there, how to get php5 (alone or with mysql 5 - not bothered about mysql really - it just insisted i installed with php5 and i went along with it) working with 8.0.1. Im happy to upgrade plesk to 8.1x if it helps.

I did think about going over to atomic but after this initial time wasting exercise thought id check here before trying that in case i was to encounter same issues. Also couldnt see all the packages i needed there but could be i am lost in frustration and missing something.

Many thanks in advance for your replies

    Cheers
    Ashley

I am trying to work through installing Ruby on rails on my Mac with help from a developer mate and some apple articles. However I want to check something before I go any further. I am running PHP 5 and MySQL 4.13 on my OS x, The MySQL that I currently have is from the MySQL site and not apple optimised.

what is the best way to upgrade to Apple optimised MySQL 5? Do I remove my current MySQL version completely ( i don't have any important info in there currently) or do I look for an upgrade option?

Can anyone help me with the shell commands for updating or removing the MySQL?

Ok. Heres the problem. First with the instruction of swsoft technical support I upgraded mysql on sles9 64bit from mysql-4.0.18 to MySQL-4.1.18.

    1. uninstalled mysql 4.0 with rprm -e
    2. got rpm exactly for my sles9 from mysql.com (MySQL-.....rpm), notice the difference in names between mysql and MySQL
    3. installed new rpms
    4. updated mysql using mysql_fix_privileges_tables

MySQL started as it should. plesk panel is working great. but only after a couple of weeks I noticed that theres something wrong:

    1. I cannot do any update from Plesk Panel because plesk is trying to install old mysql- rpms (it just doesnt see MySQL- rpms). thus every update crashes with conflicts problem before it starts. Technical support is now recommending me to make all upgrades manually (and this is pain in the ***).

    2. All websites that used mysql dont work. They just cannot connect to mysql. In phpinfo theres no mysql anymore. Technical support recommended me to recompile php. But since its already 2 months as I bought Plesk they cannot offer me support on this so I have to pay money to get the instructions.

    3. I tried to downgrade to mysql 4.0 by uninstalling Mysql 4.1 and installing original rpms. mysql just failed to start. I read on some forums that 4.1 changes tables structure so its a big trouble to downgrade mysql.

    4. when I try to unisntall php4 or php4-mysql rpms and install them again I get message: Failed dependencies: libmysqlclient.so12() (64bit) is needed by php4-mysql-...

So what I have now after upgrading mysql: I cannot make updates in plesk anymore, mysql is not working on any website, I cannot change it back, technical support is not able to help me (at least without me paying them).

Can somebody please advise what I should do because I am thinking about a new reinstall of linux and plesk. Sorry, I am not a specialist in linux. I saw several problems like mine of this forum but none of the threads end up with solution. I hope this one will finally find a solution and help other people.

Okay - I am shooting in the dark here. I have a PHP script that uploads files. Whenever uploading files larger than 16M I get a message about Got packet larger then max_allowed_packet. Now, at first I was having a problem with getting my setting for max_allowed_packet to show up, then i read that mysql 3.2 only allows up to 16M for that value. I read around and found that Plesk 7.5 supports MySQL 4. So I found instructions on how to upgrade to mysql 4 and did so via www.atomicrocketturtle.com and the these great forums. I added the ART channels to my config and used up2date mysql to update mysql. Now ive checked and sure enough its updated to mysql4 so it now shows that max_allowed_packet is set to 1GB. Still doesnt work with files larger than 16M! So Ive changed every relative value in the php.ini file as well as putting a .htaccess file with LimitRequestBody set really high. Still doesnt work! Ive looked all around and the only thing I can find that might explain what is going on is the fact that my php is still linking to the mysql3 library. According to what I have read, there is a problem with sending packets over 16M between PHP and the MySQL 3x library. It is suggested that I rebuild PHP with the library for my mysql4 installation. Ive looked all around and cannot find good, detailed instructions on how to do this and I am afraid that if I do this I am going to break something w/ Plesk or something else on the server. I also dont want to do this and it not fix the problem. Do you have any other ideas or instructions on how to do this? Thanks!

P.S - I am uploading to a MySQL database and not straight to a file.

The person in this thread seems to have had the same problem and devised a workaround for it, however, I dont want a workaround. I want to fix the problem so I dont have to go and change the code and have all of my clients update their files.

    Hallo Igor,
PostFix Problems that are discussed in the Plesk 12 forum, where the solution is comming in version 12.1.
I can not afford to have my email down. That is the main reason.

I have learn to not directly upgrade, because with every major release, there are also major problems in the beginning.
So i wait until that sort of problems are solved.

DB:3.30:Want To Upgrade To 7.6, A Few Questions Before a7

Currently running 7.56 with a custom build of PHP 5 and mysql 5.

Will this cause any problems if I attempt to upgrade to 7.6 even though I have custom versions of PHP and mysql already installed?

Secondly, we are running both the standard version of mssql that shippes with plesk 7.5 and then we downloaded MSSQL 2006 Express. How can I integrate just one version? I only want to use MSSQL 2006 Express and not have two versions running. Thanks much.

    Do it yourself!

Instead of using other stuff I recommend that you learn how to do the upgrade yourself. Its more fun.

I would like to run a program called Tasks, but it requires me to configure PHP and MySQL, neither of which I have any idea how to do, but apparently can be done fairly easily with the Macbook Pro. PHP is apparently already enabled. Is there an "easy" tutorial for a non techie on this?

    DB:3.29:Php And Mysql 38

It couldn't be easier with a solution called MAMP. It is a free download here: http://www.living-e.de/en/products/MAMP-PRO/download/download.php

Instead of installing it on your system, you have php, apache, and mysql installed in an application. It runs applications beautifully with little configuration.

You will be up and going with php, apapche, and mysql in minutes.

DB:3.29:Oracle And Mysql In One Server, Is It Ok? kz

installing oracle with existing mysql in the server (centos), is it ok? or it will cause conflict?

and how to I bind php and oracle?

like when you install php and mysql in centos, you need to yum install php-mysql packages right?

does oracle need the same process?

    anybody can help? please...

I'm so excited to use oracle... i just found out that there's free oracle, the XE.. :)

DB:3.29:Oracle And Mysql In One Server, Is It Ok? kz

I've used Oracle and MySQL together on several machines; there's no contention or incompatibility that I've ever encountered. They listen on different ports by default (1521 for Oracle, 3306 for MySQL).

As for PHP, you'll probably want to read an introductory article from the [Oracle PHP Developer Center|http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/php/index.html]. Nothing you do there should interfere with your MySQL operations, either.

    Have fun!

What would be the possible drawbacks of compiling and installing php from source (isnt the ./configure string supplied in phpinfo();?)

DB:3.28:Problems With Mysql After Update To Php 5.3 s9

    Hi everyone,

I know I am not the only one having trouble with that upgrade but so far I still have some issues.

I have read the news about the update and the wiki. I use apache, php, mysql and phpmyadmin. After the update, I installed php-apache, php-mcrypt and used php.ini.pacnew to do my new configuration.Everything works fine except mysql.

I have a weird problem that is that I can access and do whatever I want to databases with phpmyadmin but as soon as I try to connect to the mysql database with php code then my browser tells me that the page cant be loaded and that the connection terminated unexpectedly. What is the problem ? Am I the only one in this situation ?

    Thanks for your time !

DB:3.28:Update Php, Mysql, And Phpmyadmin With Plesk 9.5.4 mc

    Hi,

I have a server using parallels plesk panel 9.5.4, and centOS 5.7.
    It runs
    - php 5.3.3
    - mysql 5.0.95
    - phpmyadmin 2.11
    (- apache 2.2)

Id like to update to the following
    - php 5.4
    - mysql 5.5
    - phpmyadmin 3.5
    (- apache 2.4)

How can I do this safely on my plesk-driven server ?

    Tanks

DB:3.28:Update Php, Mysql, And Phpmyadmin With Plesk 9.5.4 mc

    Thank you !

I encountered some errors during the upgrade, but Google knew them . Here they are, in case someone reads this thread :
    - http://forum.ovh.com/showthread.php?t=69508 (this one basically says yum remove nmap)

I now have those installed on my server :
    - php5.3.14 → at least its now the very last update of php5.3 branch. But Id like to upgrade to php5.4.
    - mysql 5.5.25 → perfect !
    - phpmyadmin 2.11 → no problem here : anyway I also wanted to access it from outside the control panel, and the method for this let me easily choose phpmyadmin3.5. I assume that if I want the panel version to be 3.5 as well, Id just have to move the 2.11 folder and replace it with a link to my 3.5 folder.

I edited /etc/yum.repos.d/atomic.repo with vi, and enabled atomic-testing instead of atomic, but both yum update php and yum upgrade php said No Packages marked for Update.
How can I upgrade to php 5.4 ?

    Thanks
