DB:3.25:Software Installations Request Ms Office Pro 2000 Cd kk

For some unknown reason, most software installations result in a box appearing asking me to wait while Windows configures MS Office Pro 2000. Then I get a box asking for the CD to be inserted. When I do, it cannot find the file it is looking for. On my Inspiron 1100 PC I installed MS Office 2000 Pro from the CDs I got with the Dell I bot in 2000. I have since installed the SP1 upgrade from a CD I got from MS. What is causing Windows to request info from MS Office Pro when I install sortware having nothing to do with MS Office?

The most recent occasion was when I installed Delorme 2004 Handheld software to use with my Dell Axim 5

DB:3.25:Software Installations Request Ms Office Pro 2000 Cd kk

This morning when I tried to set up a new Map file in Delorme Street Atlas 2004 handheld, right after I clicked new file, the box popped up indicating Windows Installer was preparing MS Office 2000Pro. The boxes flew by too fast for me to copy down all the messages. When I clicked calcel, I got an error 1706 - no valid source; obviously because I did not insert the MS Office SR1 Pro CD. After clicking on this, I got a message box indicating that the feature I was trying to use was on a CD and that i should instert the CD. I clicked cancel and got a box that said the Path MS Office 2000 Pro cannot be found - it needed to find DATA1.MSI..

What possible reason is there for Windows Installer to install MS Office Pro when all I did was click on New to create a new Map file in Delorme software? In addition, I have gone thru this routine a number of times when trying to run a Setup.exe to run new software.

My problem: When attempting to access Macbook from either of

Seems to be a well known problem. I've looked through the MSknowledge base and Googled the problem. It seems that those experiencing the problem were dealing with Windows 2000 or were having trouble getting into and XP machine and there appears to be very limited success involving various workarounds. Nothing involving Macbooks

I have no problem with any of the Windows machines communicating with each other. The Mac accesses all my

Your problem with hibernate seems to be configuration only, go to Power Options properties page, in the advanced tab you will have different choices for the action taken when you close the laptop, push the i button or power button. Be sure that Hibernate is activated in the other tab.

For the volume keys, if you are referring the the ones on the laptop, the Dell Access Direct utility is what you need: http://www.support.dell.com/FileLib/Format.aspx?c=usl=ens=genCategory=0OS=WW1OSL=ENSvcTag=SysID=INS_PNT_CEL_4000DeviceID=676Type=ReleaseID=R53756

    ===============================

Setup has dtermined thet your computers's startup disk is new or has been erased, or that your computer is running an operating system thet is incompatible with Windows 2000.

If the hard disk is new or has been erase, ot if you want to discard its current contents, you can choose to continue Setup

    And so on..

At this point I am not sure if it is complaining about the existing WIN 2K OS or it is complaining something else. Is it safe to proceed and assume that it is warning about the virtual partition (file) that it will use to install the instance.

This being said, it sounds like there is a problem with the machines boot devices. My best advice would be to enter the BIOS and make sure that your startup drive is the first in line for the bootup process.

    PLEASE NOTE:
Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS

I bought an optiplex gx110 used. It has win 95, with a win 98 upgrade, with a win 2000 pro upgrade. I would like to format hard drive. What would you suggest putting in Win 2000 pro or Win Xp pro? In order to put 2000 Pro in I would have to install Win98 and upgrade to Win 2000 Pro.

DB:2.84:Windows 2000 Pro Vs. Windows Xp Pro j8

If cost is not an issue you are way better off with Windows XP Pro. Access to latest softwares and hardware drivers, much less compatibility issues, and a couple administrative options to facilitate things you had to do manually in Win2k, plus the eye-candy look of XP (if you like it).

If you choose to go the Windows 2000 way as you already have the license, I would suggest if possible in your case to install Win2k over Win98 and not do the "upgrade" option. You'll have a cleaner and more stable Win2k installation that way.

    Best regards,

Recent versions of most operating systems (including Windows 98, Me, 2000, XP, and Linux*) include fully functional drivers for the USB port of Intel® chipsets. In order for Device Manager to show what USB controller is in the system, the chipset must be recognized by the operating system. Youshould be able to remedy this problem by reinstalling the chipset drivers. These should be available on the Resource CD that came with your computer or from Intel:

    http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/filter_results.asp?strOSs=19strTypes=DRV%2CARC%2CUTLProductID=181OSFullName=Windows*+2000submit=Go%21

Also, here is the link at DELL for information about your system:

    http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/systems/ws420/en/ug/specs.htm#microprocessor

It indicates that your system has the Intel 840 chipset.

Windows does not ship with developer software.

You need some sort of compiler to compile C code.

Windows does not ship with a C compiler.

The example is in C code.

You cannot compile C code without a compiler.

If you want to compile this code, you must obtain and install a compiler.

a backup for your current computer in case you ever need to reinstall it. This will restore your computer to it's exact state when the image was made - that will save you the trouble of having to reinstall Windows 7 and everything currently installed again,
and it takes much less time to do.

    A. Have you added a sound adapter to the Win98 VM?

    B. If so, have you installed the Creative Labs' drivers? Look for Sound Blaster PCI Audio adapter. Search the forum for specifics - this shows up every few weeks.

Hi, I bought a Dell Dimension 8400 but it came with Windows XP Home Edition installed. My previous system has Windows 2000 Pro on it. I want to continue with the same operating system for compatibility with current peripherals. (No comments about upgrading to XP please). I am looking for a way to purchase the Windows 2000 Pro Reinstallation CD specifically for Dell Dimension 8400. Second choice would be to purchase Windows 2000 Pro and install the Dell-specific drivers after that. Then I can create a restore CD, but I prefer to avoid all that. Any leads are appreciated. Thanks.

Neither: 2008 Server is out and it is vastly superior to both.

That said, if you are stuck with either 2000 or 2003 then choose 2003.

After you install or upgrade an operating system you must then install drivers for all your hardware. If you didn't do this, then that's your next step. Since you have a laptop you will only get XP drivers from the laptop mftr.'s website for your specific

    None I'm sorry.

Support ended on April 13, 2010 for it, even for 2000 SP4, which was the last service pack, as it is no longer supported by Microsoft.

    See: https://community.mcafee.com/docs/DOC-1315

There may be some products that support it still out there, check Google.

As far as Business products go I think the same applies but you could ask here: https://community.mcafee.com/community/business/general

(The Consumer products never supported servers anyway).

    is 100Mbps.

How to make the guest OS networking faster (100Mbps)?

and install it? Or should I use some kind of

    "virtual" drive?

    DB:2.74:Faster Networking In Vmware k3

Thank you for your prompt response. Here is my benchmark

    Host OS (XP):

download speed : 1437135 bps, or 1437 kbps.

upload speed : 2113048 bps, or 2113 kbps.

    Guest OS (W2K server):

download speed : 411688 bps, or 411 kbps.

upload speed : 1954079 bps, or 1954 kbps.

They are on the same order. So the indicator (10Mbps,

I did, in fact, use VMWare Converter. Perhaps I'll move this question to that forum in hopes of finding someone more tolerant of novices.

Even though you may have used VMware vCenter Converter to create a Virtual Machine of an existing Physical Machine really doesn't make this issue any more a Converter issue then a Fusion issues and considering the error the resolution has to do with neither and you just don't seem to grasp that. Even if something happened during the conversion that didn't through an error the solution is going to come from within Windows by either uninstall/reinstall MS Money or validate the dll's on the Virtual Machine are binaurally the same as they are on the Physical Machine as a start to the troubleshooting process. If I though for one minute that this was a Converter error I'd tell you to reconvert the system however that's just not necessary when the easiest thing would be to uninstall/reinstall MS Money!

And I did read the manifesto on how to properly ask questions.

Well considering the lack of information both in your questions and replies it certainly doesn't seem so since you have not answered the questions being asked so I'll ask then again...

What have you done to verify the validity or the error message? Have you performed binary comparison on the 'dll's on both systems? Have you tried replacing them from the installation media?

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling MS Money?

Is anyone running Windows 2000 Professional as a secondary opps system with Windows ME. I read that Windows ME works real nice inconjunction with WIN 2000 Pro. You have to load ME first then 2000 Pro Then use Partition Magic to partition the harddrive for the two systems.

I just bought wireless adapter WPC54G. I am also using Windows 2000 Pro. I cannot finish installation. I reach to step 2. The computer asks me to insert the wireless card and I do. But after that, the power light will not light up. I have been on the phone with technical support for 2 hours and they dont seem to help.

If you have another USB port you might want to try it.

I'm not sure if you would have to do an uninstall and then reinstall software.

Having trouble finding where the settings are to connect to a Windows 2000 domain network. It seems the wizards and other options are for more home-based network solutions. How do I add this workstation to the domain? I have added many '95, '98, NT, 2000 pro stations previously. Looking all over control panel and network connections with no luck yet...

I just picked up this old CPx with no OS on it. Can I install a standard Win 2000 Pro on it or does it need special software for a laptop? Would it handle XP, and would XP be preferable to 2000?

DB:2.73:Win 2000 On Latitude Cpx? cx

Thanks for the help, guys. I suspected that 2000 would run better on the older machine because of the older architecture. Thanks for the verification.

Can you install Windows XP Pro onto a Poweredge 2200?

If not I assume you can install 2000 Pro, where do I get the SCSI drivers from to install at the F6 point?

    Thanks

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for that, unfortunately Dell no longer stock the part, I am waiting on them giving me the part no. so I can try and source it from a third party.

In the meantime I tried installing again and hitting F5 at the F6 point and choosing the HAL for an "MPS Multiprocessor PC" (this is what Windows NT chooses on a successful NT Workstation install), I still get the multiprocessor_configuration_not_supported blue screen both for an XP install or 2000 installs.

I need to build a Windows 2000 PRO guest OS. First, it is not on the OS list (why?) and second, how do I do so? Everytime I power on the Virtual machine it doesn't recognize the CD or ISO image?

OK, spoke with VMWare support, according to them Windows 2000 Pro is NOT supported by ESX.

    great responses.

well, i agree about linux, i have suse 8.2 on one rig, cannot use it on my top 2 rigs, amd computers, due to the fact i am using serial drives, raid, and will not be supported until 2.6 kernal comes out.

just installed 2 wd raptor 10,000 rpm drives on my rig, running raid 0 with wind 2000. it,s fast. the only problem is now i cannot install my cannon i950 printer for some reason. i could using my 2 maxtor idie drives with the serial adapters running raid 0. figure that out.

suring the net, wind 2000 is very quick and stable, and like some of the features in the start menu.. realize that wind 2000 is geared for the busniness sector, but there are some things i like about it.
