DB:3.51:Error - Java Virtual Machine Launcher: Cannot Find Main Class. 88

Well I have figured it out, now just not sureif I corrected it the right way.

I have AdAware, and had done a scan the other day. I guess when it found "Web savings from Ebates" it deleted it and all of it's files. When I go into "msconfig" under the startup tab, there is a startup item, trying to launch, which of course the file is now missing:

    javaw -cp "c:\programfiles\websavingsfromebates\system\code"Main lp: "C:\programfiles\websavingsfromebates"

    location:

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I tried unselecting the file, but after rebooting it came up that you have changed the way the system starts from normal startup to selective startup. So I did the next best thing, I found it in the registry, backed it up, (to be safe) and then deleted it. Everything is fine now.

    Thanks for everyones help !

"Log on locally" and "log on as a service" are user rights which can be set or unset for user accounts via the local group policy. A service always runs under some user context and that user must have the user right to run as a service, for example. Even if this is a standalone system.

In this case the vmware user needs this user rights.

I found that the relevant services which were mentioned in the troubleshooting link were not available in my machine because I had made them disable before based on Microsoft security checklists. However, installer program could not rollback completely after that Error and there was a link to this service in windows registery which their files were not available. I removed that line from the registery and problem solved.

If the data is really important ad needs to be recovered, you should immediately stop using the MAC (i.e. shut it down). You'll find several hits when you search the Internet for data recovery companies, one of the well known ones is Kroll Ontrack.

Yes right. But the problem you are facing is different. Doing some hunt on the internet, I see that this problem comes when Java is unable to allocate momory for the application you are tryig to run. Maybe there is a memoy leak in your windows mahchine or your system memory is too low.

There are some other tweaks that can be tried with JRE configuration with changing the initial and maximum memory heaps size, but I'm not sure if I can suggest it in this forum.

    Hello Johan,

From which website are you trying to download Office 365?

What is the default browser in use?

You may delete all the browsing history, cache and the temp files from the browser and check if you are able to download and install Office 365.

If the above steps fail, you may sign in to
www.office.com/myaccount using a different browser and check if it displays the Office subscription in the account page.

If it displays the account information you can download Office subscription from my account page and check if you are able to download and install Office 365 Home premium on the computer.

You may also start the computer in clean boot mode, this would disable all the non-Microsoft applications and the antivirus which could be one of the reason for the error.
Refer the article below to start the computer in clean boot:

Note: Ensure to restart the computer in normal mode after completing the troubleshooting steps

You may refer to the general troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article below while installing Office 2013/ Office 365 and verify the status.

Hello! We have server with 2 processors (4 cores in each), Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter and Hyper-V role installed. On the given server 15 virtual guests for our clients are started. Each virtual guest has own customisations of the processor (Virtual machine reserve, Virtual machine limit). When the limit on processor resources has started to come to an end, Hyper-V it is strange to consider processor resources. We cannot start a new virtual server with a limit Virtual machine reserve more than 16% on 2 cores (Error: There are not enough resources to complete the operation. '0xC035001D'.). During too time we can create and start 2 virtual computers with a limit Virtual machine reserve 16% on 2 cores. Why we cannot create and start one virtual computer with a limit Virtual machine reserve 32% on 2 cores? Its very strange(((

DB:3.34:Processor Reserve For Virtual Mashines zj

Personally - I would't mess with the reserves settings. And if I did, I would only tweak the particular VM that actually needed additional resources. The pitfall that you can fall into is that the environment is over-tweaked and the impact ends up being negative on the overall environment in the end.  As the impacts of tweaking might work one way on host A but on Host B the settings will work out totally differently, due to a different mix of VMs and thus combination of VM tweaks.By setting these you are attempting to 'guarantee' resources - and thus you are running into a situation where your tweaks, combined with the needs of the host for additional resources to handle the overhead of this additional VM are violating your established rules.Frankly, the system can self manage just fine - it is designed to do that.  All hypervisors are.  By default all machines share in the pool of resources and all get their equal share of the resources.  If a particular VM needs more, then increase its settings, and leave the rest alone.  IF a particular VM needs far less, then reduce its resources but leave the rest alone. And yes, the behavior you are seeing is indeed strange - but then without undoing and reverse engineering all of the tweaks to all of the VMs, there is no way to truely understand why you are seeing the results that you are.

I installed Windows Vista Business on a MacBook Air using VMware Fusion 1.1.1.

I shut down the computer while my Virtual Machine was suspended, and now when I try to resume the Virtual Machine, it crashes VMware Fusion 1.1.1. Trying to start the Virtual Machine also crashes VMware Fusion. In reading certain Settings under my Virtual machine, it indicates that the settings cannot be changed because the Virtual Machine is not powered off. Following the instruction to resume the Virtual Machine crashes VMware Fusion 1.1.1.

Is there anything I can do short of a complete reinstall?

Thanks very much for your response. I reinstalled Windows Vista since making my initial post, but I was still having problems.

I tried your suggestion of removing the Connected checkmark under Settings, and it seemed to work as I can now startup up Windows Vista without the SuperDrive being attached.

    Hi Suuresh,
This was already tried. Please read the following thread link. Unfortunately your answer is the same as the answer from another of your colleages. This did not work! Win 7 recognises Virtual PC has already been
installed on this machine, and aborts the installation. There is no way that I've found to uninstall VPC since it doesn't show up on the program list.

Sorry for my being slightly cynical, but I haveheard absolutely nothing constructive from Microsoft support. There is currently no answer to this issue, so Microsoft has tried to ignore the problem (my original post dates back to May 02nd). The answer you've
proposed is exactly the same asYaaser's (see link), but Yaaser has never answered my lastpost, (probably because he doesn't know the answer). I've started this thread hoping someone would answer.

DB:3.25:Unable To Run Windows Dvd Maker In Windows Vista Virtual Machine. pk

I think the basic point of the thread was that DVD maker under Vista just does not like, and likely will not run, on the Emulated hardware presented by a Fusion Virtual Machine.

For many reasons, Fusion simply might not be able to Satisfy DVD maker with the hardware it "fakes" for Windows.

If you MUST use DVD maker, a Boot Camp installation of Windows would provide more "direct" access to your Mac's video hardware, which might be capable of satisfying DVD makers' stiff requirements. But it might not. Better chance of it happening in BootCamp that in a Virtual Machine, though.

Might I suggest, however, that since you have a nifty new Mac, that you explore iMovie and / or iDVD? Never mind that they're just far and away 'better' than anything Microsoft has to offer... they're OSX native applications, and very well integrated with OSX. A Native application will ALWAYS run better than something "Emulated" or "Virtualized"... regardless of the quality of the application.

Take advantage of all your Mac has to offer... it's so much more than "an expensive computer that can run Windows"

    DB:3.24:Windows 7 Bootcamp Virtual Machine Issues 9x

I would be grateful if anyone could give me advice with regard to the following issues noted when running Windows 7 Ultimate (x86 RC Version 7100) as a virtual machine using VMware Fusion V2.04. A clean installation of VMware Fusion V2.04 was performed on a late 2008 MacBook 2.4 GHz (Mac OS X 10.5.6) after having installed Windows 7 Ultimate on a Boot Camp partition. :

    1. Ethernet Driver: Even when using the latest version of VMware Fusion we must still manually add "ethernet0.virtualDEV="e1000" to the Virtual Machine .vmx file in order to provide ethernet functionality.

    2. Activation Loop: When switching between the Boot Camp partition and the Virtual Machine I am notified that only 3 days remain to activate Windows 7. Activation of both machines via internet has so far been nothing more than a hassle but should a limited number of activations be allowed I'll run into a problem sooner or later.

    3. Windows 7 Aero Functionality: I cannot enable Aero functionality on the virtual machine even with a registry hack, although the virtual video card is reported as having 120 MB of RAM and supports DirectX 9. I've read that when running Windows 7 as a virtual machine in the Mac OS X partition this functionality has been available in the newest Beta release, but apparently when running the virtual machine from a Boot Camp partition this is not the case.

    4. VMware Services not Starting: After booting up the Windows 7 virtual machine I receive an error message that the VMware Service failed to start. I need to start it manually although the auto start registry entries for both the service and the task bar are available. I have tried to change compatibility of these applications to run as Windows Vista SP2 programs and have ensured they are all set to run with administrator priveleges without success.

    5. Cannot reinstall VMware Tools: When running the Windows 7 Virtual Machine in the Mac OS X operating system I cannot reinstall the VMware Tools. The option to install these tools is not highlighted in the Virtual Machine menu.

I admit these issues are relatively minor and are reporting them more as a heads-up to the developers, but would nonetheless appreciate any advice you may be able to provide. I've not yet deleted the Boot Camp virtual machine to start over but am more than willing to try if so advised.

    Geoffrey

    DB:3.24:Windows 7 Bootcamp Virtual Machine Issues 9x

I tried a clean installation of the Mac OS X and Windows 7 Ultimate partitions and then tried to set up the new Boot Camp partition virtual machine using the Windows Server 2008 settings as suggested. Both 3D enhancement and folder sharing were unchecked, since neither of them worked. The ethernet adapter did not install automatically but worked with a modification of the .vmx file. Unfortunately, the activation loops continued and I couldn't solve this issue by uninstalling and reinstalling VMware Tools.

I've since reverted back to Windows XP Pro SP3 in the Boot Camp partition, which works just fine. As soon as VMware Fusion supports Windows 7 as a Boot Camp virtual machine I'll upgrade and try again.

I have a windows 2000 Virtual machine I setup on a VMware server. It was working fine but now it is giving me this error when I try to start the machine:

Cannot open the disk '/vmdsk2/VM/Windows 2000 Professional/Windows 2000 Professional-000002.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.

Reason: Failed to lock the file.

I am not sure what that means. Prior to receiving this error I did copy the VM files to another location for backup purposes and I did r#275;name the virtual machine. Could this have something to do with it?

DB:3.23:Vmrun Cannot Find The Vm 7f

    Hi,

I've tried everything. I'm trying to start a virtual machine from command line with no success. (windows server 2003 sp2 with Vmware Server 2)

    The command I'm running is:

    gt;vmrun.exe -T server -h https://192.168.0.200:8333/sdk -u myuser -p mypass start "F:\VirtualMachines\vm1\Windows XP Professional.vmx"

I get an error: Cannot open F:\VirtualMachines\vm1\Windows XP Professional.vmxThe virtual machine cannot be found.

I've also tried using the datastore

    gt;vmrun.exe -T server -h https://192.168.0.200:8333/sdk -u myuser -p

mypass start "[Virtual] vm1/Windows XP Professional.vmx"

    With the same error.

I'm sure about the vmx route and location, the VM starts perfectly from the web UI.

The only thing i can notice is that everytime I run the comand I can see a new line in the Tasks log on the web ui that says:

"Find virtual machine by datastore" with success.

So I guess the virtual machine was found but the vmrun command has always the same error.

I've included the vmware server route to the windows PATH, tried to run with many users, roles, permissions, tried all but nothing working..

I would appreciate any sugestions please,

Thank you very much for your time

    Regards.

    Esteban.

DB:3.23:Vmrun Cannot Find The Vm 7f

I was also seeing the exception: -

Error: The virtual machine cannot be found

when using the VMRUN command ( I'm running VMware Server 2.0 on Ubuntu 9.0.4 64-bit ) as follows: -

    vmrun -t server -h https://hostname.domainname.com:8333/sdk -u root -p passw0rd register "/vmwares/domino/Virtual\ Machine.vmx"

Having validated the path to the .VMX file ( /vmwares is a mount point for a 1 TB drive formatted as EXT4 ), I was also baffled.

The syntax of the VMRUN command does imply a logical/physical path to the VM: -

    " vm/myVM.vmx"

and I was missing the obvious - the phrase .

I followed the advice given here to start a VM from the Web UI and then issue the command: -

    vmrun -t server -h https://hostname.domainname.com:8333/sdk -u root -p passw0rd list

which showed the running VM as: -

    domino/Virtual\ Machine.vmx

Once I had this ( slightly strange ) "path", I was good to go.

I can now start my VM as follows: -

    vmrun -t server -h https://hostname.domainname.com:8333/sdk -u root -p passw0rd start "[VMwares on Samsung] domino/Virtual\ Machine.vmx"

and, if I want to be mean, stop it as follows: -

    +vmrun -t server -h https://hostname.domainname.com:8333/sdk -u root

    -p passw0rd stop "[VMwares on Samsung] domino/Virtual\ Machine.vmx"+

    Simple

Hi all, I'm new at this community. I've recently installed VMWare Workstation 7 on a Debian Lenny (Kernel 2.6.26.2-amd64). I've had not any problem with it, but when I tried to start a Windows Vista Virtual Machine, which I've created, doesn't start. Hi again Continuum, I've solved my problem and the answer was pointed with your previous answer as you thought. It was not by the display resolution but 3D acceleration checked, was guilty. Thanks and the problem was solved.

Are you using third party antivirus application? If yes, please disable it and check.
You may refer to the antivirus manufacturer website to check for the options to disable antivirus.

Note: Even if you disable third party antivirus,
Windows Defender will still be running in the computer. This will guard your computer from malware.

Keep us posted on the status of the issue.

After you restart the Hyper-V Host server and the guest virtual machines, you may encounter the error:

An error occurred while attempting to start the selected virtual machines(s).

    Here are three common issues.

    Issue 1

On a Windows Server 2008-based machine that has the Hyper-V role installed,
or on a Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008-based machine, you encounter the following:

    • When you try to connect to a virtual machine, error occurs:

Cannot connect to the virtual machine because the authentication certificate is expired or invalid. Would you like to try connecting again,

    • When you start a virtual machine, error occurs (Figure 1):

An error occurred while attempting to change the state of virtual machine
    ‘VMname’

    'VMName' failed to initialize.

Could not initialize machine remoting system. Error: ‘Unspecified error’ (0x80004005).

Could not find a usable certificate. Error:
    ‘Unspecified error’(0x80004005).

    Figure 1: ‘Unspecified error’ (0x80004005).

    Cause:

This issue may occur if the Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service (VMMS) certificate has expired.

    Solution:

    Install the Hotfix.

You cannot connect to a virtual machine when the Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V VMMS certificate has expired
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/kb967902/en-us

    Workaround:

Follow the steps below to generate a new certificate.

    1. Shut down or save all virtual machines.
    2. Restart the Hyper-V VMMS.
    3. Start the virtual machines.

Note:As the Hyper-V VMMS certificate is valid for one year, the update has to be applied to prevent this issue from occurring in the future.

DB:3.19:[Forum Faq] Resolve Virtual Machines Fail To Start Issues am

    Issue 3

    Consider the following scenario:

•You have an Intel CPU that supports the Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) feature on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2.

•You have an Intel CPU that supports the Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) feature on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2.

Note: Intel introduces support for the AVX feature in the Sandy Bridge processor family.

•You install the Hyper-V server role on the computer.

•You try to start a virtual machine after you create the virtual machine on the computer.

An error occurred while attempting to start the selected virtual machine(s).
virtual machine name could not initialize
virtual machine name could not initialize. (Virtual machine ID virtual machine GUID)

Also, an Event 3040 is logged in the Hyper-V-Worker node under Applications and Services Logs that contains an error message that resembles the following:

virtual machine name Failed to set/change partition property

    Solution:

This issue occurs because Windows Server 2008 R2 does not support the AVX feature and you can install the
    hotfix.

    Hi all,

Due to a power failure on my Mac Book, my Mac session died and with it died a running vmware Fusion session with Windows 7.

When I now try to start my Fusion Windows 7 virtual machine, the message "A disk read errror occurred Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart" appears during boot. Apparently something has been corrupted during sudden termination of the Mac session.

Has anyone some input as to how I repair this session?

    Thanks for any input.

The default location for VMDKMounter is "/Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/" and if it isn't on the context menu as shown in the image below yet it exists at the aforementioned location you can always try dragging and dropping the Virtual Machine Document Package onto the VMDKMounter Application and this should mount the virtual hard drive if everything else is okay.

I'm running a Windows 2003 server as a virtual machine using Virtual Server 2005 R2. This machine is running on a Windows 2003 server platform. The Windows 2003 machine is logged on with the domain administrator account, and I've always logged on to
the virtual server administration website using the domain admin user name/password as well. Earlier this week, I changed the domain Administrator password while the virtual machine was running, but I logged off and back on again both on the host and
the virtual machine with no problem. Then I ran Windows Update, shut down the virtual machine and rebooted the host machine. Now I can't get the virtual server to start at all; I get the following error when I try to launch it:
    The following error occurred:
The virtual machine could not be started. The virtual machine could not be started. The account name and password are invalid.
Yet, I am logged on to the host machine with the same account name and password (domain Administrator) that I've always used, the only change being the password. I've tried a couple of things, made sure that the NTFS permissions on the virtual machine
files are correct (they haven't changed), etc. I can't figure out what's going on here. I even tried using the local Administrator password instead, which didn't work, and I tried removing the domain Administrator account from the local Administrators group
and re-adding it, which also didn't work.Is there some sort of cached password somewhere that I need to change or remove? I need to get this machine up and running, as it is the DHCP and print server for the network!!Deb

DB:3.16:Vmware 10 Shows Memory Module Error kj

A little refinement to my last thread:

In the VM setup, size the VM to 3072 MB (ie. 3072MB = 3GB exactly)

Note that if you set the VM to 3072 or lower, you don't see the 2nd Memory Module in Device Manager with the error condition.

    Now . . . Resize the VM above 3072 for a test:

Then look at the Properties | Resources of the Memory Module *without* the error state, you'll see the Resources tab shows Memory Range 10000000 - BFFFFFFF .

    Hex BFFFFFFF = 32112254471 decimal.

    32112254471 decimal = 3,071.999990463257 MB.

    3,071.999990463257 MB = 2.9999999990686774 GB .

Call it 3GB of memory resource.

If you look at the Properties | Resources of the Memory Module *with* the error state, you'll see

    Hex 0000000100000000 - 0000000101FFFFFF

    That's decimal 4,294,967,296 - 4,328,521,727 .

    That's exactly 4096 MB (or 4GB) through 4127.9999 MB, or 4.0312499999 GB .

I have no idea why that range shows up on the error Memory Module.

    Humm . . .

Thanks for your responses. It seems that main culprit is locked VHDX file by SYSTEM process. I'm unable to manualy remove or rename VHDX even if it isn't attached to VM. It is a paradox because I'm able to perform live storage migration. After storage
migration is original VHDX removed but on new CSV the problem persists.

I'm converting from a Windows XP SP2 machine to a new Mac Mini (Intel Core 2 Duo).

I downloaded and ran VMware Converter 3.0.1 on my Windows XP machine to convert the physical volumes to a virtual machine. That part worked just fine.

I installed the new VMware Fusion product on my Mac Mini. Using an external USB drive I copied the Win XP virtual machine to my Mac's hard drive. I started fusion and opened the Windows XP virtual machine and when it attempts to start I get the error:

"Cannot connect virtual device ide 0:1. No corresponding device is available on this host."

Both of my virtual hard drives (which were IDE drives on the Windows XP machine) show up in the virtual machine settings with a Bus type of SCSI, and the drop-down option to change it to IDE is unavailable. I can add another hard disk to the virtual machine of type IDE or SCSI, but why doesn't VMware Fusion default to a bus type of IDE for my IDE drives that came from my Windows XP machine?

The overall process was recommended on the VMware site as an easy way to migrate from Windows to Mac, but I can't seem to get past this issue.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Did you make any changes on the computer prior to the issue?

    Running Windows XP Mode requires:
    1) Windows 7 - Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise
    2) A computer that has a CPU that supports hardware virtualization.
    3) The Virtualization option must be ‘Enabled’ in the BIOS.

Windows XP Mode is only available in Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 7 Professional, and Windows 7 Ultimate.

    Method 1:
Run the virtual machine manager configuration analyzer. Here’s the link:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=ae7c6a09-e8df-4adc-8686-f4d140a3a3f4DisplayLang=en

    Method 2:
Try to install the virtual machine in clean boot with the help of the link:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After trouble shooting put the computer to start as usual by performing step 7 from the above Knowledge Base article.

Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/install-and-use-windows-xp-mode-in-windows-7

    Method 3:
You may be missing the .vmc file. If you go to "C:\Users\vinodata\Virtual Machines" folder and view content of related .vmcx file you can see the vmc file which VPC is unable to find.

I've had the exact same issue and am wondering if it has to do with the local account access rights to the VM. I can launch the applications with the administrator account of the host machine, but a general user account that I use to try to launch them is not able to and I get the same messages you do.

One other thing... it leaves a hanging process of vmware.exe for each failed attempt to attach remotely to the VM to try to start it.

Also download and install Java from the below link and then try installing the printer driver:

DB:3.13:The Operation Cannot Be Performed Because The Virtual Machine Is Faulted 31

My Virtual Machine stops, and when I try to restart it, I get the following message:

Failed to start virtual machine xxxxxxx.
The operation cannot be performed because the virtual machine is faulted.
    Following the advice in
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/narahari/archive/2013/01/15/windows-azure-virtual-machines-gotcha-s.aspx , I increase the size of my VM and it works OK, but when I try to restore the original size the error reappear.

I'm using the Azure management portal.
    best regards
    Eduardo.

    Hi Eaime,
For this specific occurrence, if the restart doesn't work the next try is to resize the VM.
However, as it dint help I recommend you to recreate the VM. As Resize/recreate will both move it to a different host and likely gets it to work.

DB:3.13:Cant Start Hyper-V Unnamed Vm Could Not Initialize Access Was Denied 7m

    Hello,
I get below error while starting one of the Virutual Machine. I noticed that NT Virtual Machine permissions are missing from Virutal Machine directory. When i try to add it to acls i cannot browse any group by the name NT Virtual Machine or
Virtual Machine. I am using windows server 2008 R2 std.
I saw an article to add it using Icacl but that didnt work either. I keep getting below error.

ccount names and security IDs was done.

Kindlysuggest a way to fix this.

In Order to solve the issue you need to give Full permissions i.e. read, write permissions to the 'Virtual Machines' user to the Folder where the virtual machines configuration file is stored . This worked for me :) Or Else you can refer the

DB:3.13:Error Converting Vmware Windows 2003 Ee Host fp

Please make sure that the VM you are converting is using IDE for the boot drive, Also you can treat the VM as a physical machine and utilize P2V migration technique.
    P2V migration

Ensure that the source machine is compliant with Microsoft requirements (Service pack, free space on system partition, check disk and defrag all partitions, etc) as per
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc764232.aspx
Remove unused programs and drivers. Remove hardware management applications (Dell Open Manage Server Administrator, IBM Director, etc.)
If using P2V migration against a source Virtual Machine, remove VMware tools, Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 or Microsoft Hyper-V 2008 R1 Integration tools.
Stop all non essential services and applications Make sure to disable firewall on the source VM Perform the migration

DB:3.13:Encounter Vix Error: Cannot Read The Virtual Machine Configuration File x1

I use VIX1.6.1 and encounter VIX error "Cannot read the virtual machine configuration file"

Then I try to use vmrun to run below command and get the same error

    vmrun -T ws listSnapshots "C:\virtual machines\TMMA2\01_TMMA_Server\Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition Eng.vmx"

VIX error: Cannot read the virtual machine configuration file

Does anyone know how to prevent this error? Thanks very much.

DB:3.13:Encounter Vix Error: Cannot Read The Virtual Machine Configuration File x1

    Thanks for your answer.

I also try to use vm workstation 6.5 to start the vm image and it works, so I think the .vmx file doesn't corrupt.

I use workstation versio, so I think I don't need to specify datastore. Am I right??

Any other suggestion? Thanks very much.
