We use CHM documents to contain help documents and other files. Since IE 9 selecting links to Word, PowerPoint, PDF etc causes the CHM to stop responding and issue an error message that HTMLHELP has stopped working. Removing IE 9 from the installed updates
has removed the error and we have blocked that update from coming down again. This has been seen with Vista, Windows 7 32 Bit and Windows 7 64 bit. Office 2010 and Office 2007 are also present.

    Hello there,
We have run into a bit of a problem with our program. Our help file is a CHM file. We are unable to run the help file from within our Program on Vista. I can navigate to the folder in which the CHM file is located and it opens fine directly. I was wondering if this could perhaps be a security setting in Vista that limits one program from executing another program. Any information you could provide me with would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

The CHM restrictions started back with XP SP2. See:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896358There are various registry edits you can make as pointed out in the article. We have found that if we keep our CHM files in our Program Files folder with our program then there are no issues. However, if your app is run from a network location or the help files are not local, then you have to deal with the restrictions.

    Hi RHelpers,

I'm using RoboHelp Html (RH 7, latest patch) on my Win 7 64-bit machine to provide a HtmlHelp (CHM) output.

Now that we're close to releasing, I've been doing some testing, and I've noticed that my SWF movie files do not play inside of Windows 7 when viewing them inside of the CHM file. It keeps asking to install the Adobe Flash Player. But I've already clicked Yes several times to that message, and it still doesn't play the file. I've even manually downloaded and installed it as an administrator, restarted my system and still no go. It just shows a red X in the container where the movie should be playing.

However, viewing the same topic inside of RH's preview window (or inside a browser) seems to work fine. Also, I've copied and pasted the problem CHM onto a virtual machine running 32-bit Vista, and the movies display fine there. This tells me it's something to do with how how compiled files are handled in 64-bit environments.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions out there?

Since installing IE9 onto my PC, links in help files (HTML HELP - CHM files) are no longer working - in fact, they crash the help file, with an error message: Microsoft HTML Help Executable has stopped working. These are links to PDFs and Word docs that

To whom it may concern This is regarding an issue related to Microsoft Compiled HTML (.chm) files. This isn't a big issue, but don't know the reason. I don't know whether microsoft aware about this. The problem is : You can't display the content of a .chm file in Windows(XP,Vista even in 7) if its name contains the character '#', eventhough '#' is a valid character to name a file. When you open a .chm with such a character in its name, it displays blank in the right side, but still dispays the content tabs in the left pane. The problem still exist even if the .chm file is named with or without the '#' character, but includes in a folder which has the '#' character in its name. In this time when you open the file it says Page cannot be displayed in the right pane, and again displaying the content tabs in the left pane. Name : M.N.M. DB:3.45:Re: Help Files 1j

    Hi,

We have been using an indexed HTM help system with our software for some
time, but wished to move to CHM to provide the automatic search capabilities
    of a CHM file.

Initially this raised the problem that we were not able to get our help AVI
files to run from the CHM file - whereas they ran easily from an HTM file.

This was eventually resolved by using specific HTM script to run the AVI
file and provided we maintained the path relatively between the CHM file and
the AVI files, all was working - till we ran the CHM file from inside
    AutoCAD!!

The AutoCAD commands which will open CHM files (HH, BROWSER, and STARTAPP)
all prepend different paths to the relative path between the CHM file and
the AVI files thereby precluding the CHM file fro finding the AVI file to
    run it.

By experiment (groping in the dark) we found that the HH command prepends
the path to the last opened file and further experiment indicates that you
can use an AutoCAD script file to:
open a drawing from the same path as the CHM file,
run a lisp program to open the CHM file,
    close the opened drawing

It's very clunky, but has worked on a few computers in our test environment.

A further thought was that we may be able to run (with VL-VBARUN) a VBA
program from the same path as the CHM file with the VBA program using a
SHELL to HH to open the CHM file.

This worked when I tested it.

However, in view of my lack of understanding of the processes occurring, I'm
wondering if it is just luck or that I may have got it right at last.

    wrote in message news:5090993@discussion.autodesk.com...
    Laurie,

Well, the Javascript I sent came from Microsoft. It is how to allow linking
to an external file, relative to the CHM file. As long as you distribute
the CHM file to "My Documents", then all you would need to do is to modify
that Javascript to append "AVI" rather than "videos" to the link. And then
of course notice how the a href's need to be translated to something a bit
    more custom.

As the MSDN article I pulled the Javascript from mentioned, linking to an
external file from CHM is *IMPOSSIBLE* because of the nature of the CHM help
system. No matter where you put the CHM file, it's just not going to work.
You need to do something like the Javascript links.
And not too difficult to find. Going to MSDN, I searched for "chm external
file," and there it was, the first hit:

    Hi All,

I'm having a problem where a script we've had for years to open a special window (sized, no browser buttons, etc) for certain content is no longer working correctly in Windows 7.

    Here is the script:

    function OpenWindowSize(strUrl, u_width, u_height) { var w_width = ",width=" + u_width; var w_height = ",height=" + u_height; var strOptions = "scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes" strOptions += w_width; strOptions += w_height; strOptions += ";"; var newWin = window.open(strUrl, "newWin", strOptions);//newWin.document.close(); newWin.focus();}

WinXP Vista: a link within a CHM correctly opens a new window with only scroll bars, and resizable, with the specified dimensions (e.g. u_width=500, u_height=700)

Win7: a link opens in a regular browser window with full menus, etc and not sized to the specified dimensions. An error also displays in the CHM file.

CHM error message (snippet): 'newWin' is null or not an object.

A developer managed to get the CHM error to go away by adding if (newWin != null) above the focus() line.

He also managed to prove that the problem only exists within CHMs. When the same javascript is used in plain HTML, the window is called correctly, as per the WinXP Vista example above.

Does anyone know how to get my script working in Win7 so that it is sized correctly and doesn't have the menus/buttons?

    Thanks,

    Amber

    DB:3.40:Opening A Browser Window From A Chm (Win7) sj

    Hey All,

I just got a message from PatricioV2, for this...I totally forgot to come back to the forum...I was so busy trying to work out the solution that now, I forget the specifics, but I did find out that there is NO WAY to customize a pop-up window from a CHM with IE 9 or 10 installed...any pop-up will have ALL the browser timings. And since I didn't want that effect, I abandoned that idea and pursued a different solution.

However, I was able to use jQuery Colorbox...which really surprised me. But even with this, you cannot use "linked" images from the stylesheet so the controls don't show...so, you need to "style" the elements with color values (i.e. background, borders, etc.).

Also, and very important, if your content is in an IFRAME in the CHM (which mine was), you MUST use a jQuery technique to get your colorbox to work on the PARENT window...otherwise, the colorbox effect will happen ALL INSIDE THE IFRAME...

...and on a side note: the code in the original post is very close to the code I was using...but all I needed to do was define the value of NULL and the script worked without any errors (which is in a post above)...but not being able to style the pop-up just ruined it for me...

Suggest me some possible ways to achieve this.Mahesh Jasti

DB:3.34:Chm To Be Converted To Sandcastle Html Output k1

If your intent is to change the styling of the HTML to match that of the Sandcastle output, you can use the HTML to MAML converter that comes with the latest release of Sandcastle to convert the HTML to MAML. You'll still have to review and fix up
issues in each topic so there would still be work to do. Once done, you can use Sandcastle to build the MAML topics and produce a help file containing them.
If you're using the Sandcastle Help File Builder, another option is to import the HTML into the SHFB project and create a sitemap to define the TOC layout of the HTML files. Bear in mind that this method of additional content support has been deprecated
though but it may get you an end result quicker.

On WIndows 7, whenever I open a compiled HTML (.chm) program, I get error messages about security and needing to download ieframe.dll and navcancl. This first happened when I changed my default browser from IE8 to Firefox. Wen I log in with another profile,
things work fine, but not when I log in as myself. Any thoughts? Thanks.

DB:3.34:Chm Html Help Giving Errors f1

Hi -- I actually found the solution to this problem. Turns out Firefox was installed atop Microsoft Application Virtualization Client, and when I set Firefox to be my default browser, the .htm and .html file extensions became associated with MAVC, and
other programs apparently didn't know what to do with it. When I removed those file associations from MAVC, all CHM Help programs opened fine. I'm not sur eif this is documented anywhere or if this is a bug, but my extra investigation solved the problem.

I also removed Firefox from MAVC and installed it directly on my PC, and .htm and .html are properly associated with Firefox.

    Thanks

You'd have to include it with the CHM file being installed. Your developers can include it as one of the file to install (e.g. the CHM and the HHACTIVEX.DLL files) in their installation file.

DB:3.28:Can You Search Children Topics For Merged Chm Files? d8

We have a master project with 58 .chm files, but freetext search only finds info on topics from the master CHM output. Is there a way the master .chm or the individually merged .chm files can be configured so the Search function will drill down to the children CHMs?

DB:3.28:Can You Search Children Topics For Merged Chm Files? d8

They way we work our files is the parent and children CHMs all reside in the same directory when we ship so we delete the path completely from the HHP file and leave only the CHM name and extension e.g. copy_database.chm. This makes for a clean Global Search. To save time from deleting all the erroneous path garbage in the HHP, I've recently made a text file that has all the CHM names in it, and I just paste over the garbage under so it's completely clean. This has to be done after all changes are complete.

In other words: (1) complete all changes in the Master CHM, (2) generate the master CHM, (3) fix the HHP file by having only file names (with extensions) under , and then (4) generate the master CHM again.

If this gave you a headache, I hope you don't use more than one product from the same RH project, because we've had major problems when we have more than one TOC and more than one Window in use in the project. I recently found an install when 55 merged CHMs were nothing but dead links from the master, this took me 16 hours to solve, and it turned out to be the last child CHM in the project was the offender, but there was nothing visibly wrong, just a bug in RH that has something to do with the default settings for the Window.

    Hi Scott,

Looks like it didn't get included with the Content Tools install. There should be a section in the main user guide when you install the source packages, Havok_Physics_Animation_650_Pc_Xs_User_Guide.chm. That should have Content Tool information. I'm not certain why they didn't get included or if it was an oversight.

There are some changes to the content tools in 6.5, the Create Rigid Bodies filter changed a little and there might be some other things, but otherwise the 6.0 should be okay.

    Cheers,

DB:3.25:External Links Not Working From Master m7

    I have a two-part issue...

I have a huge help system - 120 projects merged together
through one master. I automatically compile the .chm files into one
    master folder - so master.chm, slave1.chm, slave2.chm, and
slave3.chm are all in one folder. In Slave 1, I have external links
to topics in Slave 2 and Slave 3.

When I open slave1.chm, the external links to topics in both
    slave2.chm and slave3.chm work. When I open master.chm, the
external links to slave2.chm work, but the external links to
slave3.chm do not work. I've tried recreating the links, thinking I
did something wrong . . . but still nothing. I tried remerging the
    project . . . but still nothing.

    Any help on that one?

The second issue is with the index. Given all the same
criteria as above, if I open slave1.chm, I see a ton of index
entries from just that project, just as expected. If I open
master.chm, I see the index entries from the other merged projects
as expected, but only about 1/5 of the entries from slave1.chm (I
can't say whether the other projects have their entire index
    showing or not).

Any ideas on why only partial index appears in master.chm?

    Thank You

DB:3.25:External Links Not Working From Master m7

I've been researching similar problems in a large set of
projects converted from WinHelp. If you search this forum for
"merge," you'll find a lot of information.

For the first problem you describe, I've found that if I use
a text editor to add the referenced CHM files to the slave
project's [MERGE FILES] section, the external links work when I
launch the slave project's CHM file. Neverthless, as your second
question about the partial index implies, there are other
    considerations for merged projects.

In my case, I think I'll avoid some of these problems by
combining most of the converted projects into a single RoboHelp
HTML project. (A lot of the external links in WinHelp were popups,
and I haven't found a supportable way of implementing external
    popup links in CHM files.)

    Hi,

I know that the question "accessing a file inside a Jar" has been asked
several times but I feel my concerns are a bit different.
I have built a .chm file along with my app and would like to distribute it
bundled in the jar (or even the .exe)
However hh.exe that loads the .chm needs the file path to the .chm
and as it is inside the jar or the .exe, it fails.
So I told myself that at run time I could "extract" the .chm file from

    Slave1.chm 20th Sept

    Slave2.chm 20th Sept

    Slave3.chm 20th Sept

    Slave1.chm 15th June

    Slave2.chm 15th June

    Slave3.chm 15th June

    Slave4.chm 15th June

So the output files reverted to an earlier version.

The output files are sent to a build directory outside of all of the master and slave project file directories

I observed that the master project contains baggage files the dates of which are identical to the reverted file dates.

This leads me to believe that if some problem has rippled through my pc affecting the project it has recovered using the baggage files.

I wonder if I'm creating a merged HTML project in the wromg way?

Well for the moment, I have discarded the idea of migrating
to Sandcastle - now I'm looking at going the other way. Sandcastle
can output a CHM and I know I can import CHM
topics through the HTML Help Studio (X5 utility), but what I
would like to do is extract and imbed the
whole thing in my HTML project so that the external CHM
becomes just another "book" in my TOC with the same chapters and
    sub-topics as the original CHM.

I'm on RH X5. Is there an easy way to do this?

    Thx,
    Keith

    DB:3.20:Chm Integration Into Htmlhelp jp

    Keith,

The most straightforward solution would be to configure your
Base .chm file so that the Sandcastle-generated .chm merges
seamlessly into it at run time. That's to say, in the table of
contents (TOC) for the Base .chm file, you'd add a link to the TOC
in the Sandcastle .chm file. And you'd also need to modify the
project settings for the Base .chm file so that the index and
full-text search information for the Sandcastle .chm file are
    merged into it.

Although neither is RoboHelp-specific, the following articles
give a good overview of the procedures involved:

    http://helpware.net/htmlhelp/how_to_merge.htm

    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms524251(VS.85).aspx

The result will be that, even though you're delivering two
help files, the user will perceive them as a single, unified help
    system.

DB:3.18:How To Shrink .Chm Help File? 1a

I was using a tool to create Help file for my project, and I created .chm file. I had a number of pictures in my help. I was surprised to see how big that .chm was. After analyzing it, I found that all pictures in it were in format .png and were quite big.
Even if I was during creation of .chm file referring to picture in .jpg of 300KB, in .chm file that same picture was in format .pgn taking maybe 800KB.

Is there a way to replace those .png pictures in .chm file with .jpg pictures.? A tool that could do that would be needed. That would significantly shrink my .chm.

    Hi Mark_55_55,

This forum is to discuss problems of C# development. We don't provide third party tools.

If you want to convert .PNG to.JPG by C#, you can refer to the code below:
    class Program
    {
    static void Main(string[] args)
    {
    // Load the image.
    System.Drawing.Image image1 = System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(@C:\test.Png);
// Save the image in JPEG format.
    image1.Save(@C:\test.jpg, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg);
// Save the image in GIF format.
    image1.Save(@C:\test.gif, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Gif);
    }

I'm experiencing several issues related to downloading Word and Visio files from a .chm file.  The .chm file consists of static html pages containing links to embeded Word, Excel, and Visio files.  Recently I have received reports of the following issues:

    1. Users with Office 2007 and Vista are not able to open Word documents by clicking on a link to the file in an html page.  The Word document is embedded in the .chm file and the html page contains a link to it.  When the user clicks on the link to the file, nothing happens (no File Download dialog box).

    2. Users with Office 2007 are not able to open Word documents using the Open button on the File Download dialog box.  The users click the link to the file in the html page and the File Download dialog box appears.  They then click on the Open button and nothing happens.  This occurs on both Windows XP and Vista.  The users can Save the file and then open it normally.

    3. Users with Office 2003 (Windows XP and Vista) are not able to open Visio files.  When they click the Open button on the File Download dialog box, they receive the following error: Hyperlink to failed. Make sure the address is correct and try again.  The users can Save the file and then open it.

Excel files work fine with Office 2003 or 2007 and Windows XP or Vista.

I'm pretty certain that these are all security related issues, but I have no idea what to do to solve them. If anyone can shed some light on these issues, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks.

DB:3.18:Turning A Chm File Into A Pdf zk

Be aware that when you create printed output from RH with a
view to subsequent conversion to PDF, you'll usually need to do a
structural tune up. This is because word uses only headings to do
it's heirachy where as RH can use books and nested books on top of
the headings. You'll need to factor some time for this into you
    plans.

DB:3.12:Flash .Swfs Don't Play But Capt8 .Swfs Do mx

    Hi Sue

I'm pleased you resolved the issue.

Here's a bit of technical information as to why that may have happened. If one SWF has a link inside it that opens or depends on another, RoboHelp has no way to determine that because it's all happening inside the SWF and not exposed to RoboHelp. Therefore RoboHelp *WILL* actually report the related SWFs as Unused Files. Because from RoboHelp's perspective, they are unused. They aren't directly referenced from any specific topic.

For what it's worth, we have also observed the same thing with images when they are referenced via JavaScript. Because the JavaScript is referencing the Images and not RoboHelp, unless they are added to Baggage they don't survive the process of compiling or generating.

I have an application I'm testing with Vista RC2, and it uses HTML Help Workshop 1.4 (latest version - doesn't appear to have been updated in a while).
The CHM files work fine on WinXP, but on Windows Vista, they appear with an error message (chm file opens but actual content pages empty with embedded IE saying page connot be displayed).
The Vista docs seem to indicate that .CHM files are still supposed to be supported in Vista? What's up? Something special I need to do?

Thank you (unfortunately I don't think I can contribute much
since I've only used the program for a short time...).
I tried to rename the files but then the links within these
    files no longer worked...
    Myfile.chm links to theirfile_1.chm and theirfile_2.chm (and
about 50 other files with an underscore...). I rename
theirfile_1.chm to theirfile1.chm and link to it. The link takes me
to theirfile1.chm but that file links to theirfile_2 .chm and so
on. And that's when the links stops working...

DB:3.05:Simplified Chinese Toc In Chm Shows Gibberish Characters a8

    Hi All,

I've been working with localized projects for quite a while now, but I still don't get all the ins and outs of getting Chinese characters to display properly. Usually after some trial and error I can get Chinese chars to display properly. But today its being especially obstinant.

In our localization process we localize decompiled .chm projects. So I typically just recompile localized projects inside FAR HTML. However, I'm trying to use RH to recompile in since I'm out of any good ideas on getting my TOC to display the proper chars. All I get is gibberish in the CHM project.

So, I decided I'd try RH but I'm getting the same results using RH. After importing the project from our translators into RH, the characters show up fine inside RH's TOC viewer:

But, as with FAR HTML, after I compile, the chars in the Contents tab come across as gibberish characters:

However, the chars in the Index tab and the actual topic text are fine:

I've already changed the system locale in Vista to use Simplified Chinese (PRC). No go. I've tried adding in meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=gb2312" into the hhc. Not sure if that works with hhc, but I figured what the heck... Still no go.

I know it's some kind of encoding issue. Just not sure how to solve it. Any ideas?

I'm using the latest RH 7 build with Vista.

For a number of years I've successfully run a large merged CHM help system. A few weeks ago, the individual merged files started to be displayed in their own windows instead of the 'umbrella' main window (as worked fine before). I use RoboHelp X5 on Windows XP - recipients have XP, Vista, latest Windows etc etc.

Viewing is successful on my PC but others have the problem, particularly with older files that have been reworked recently (but no changes that would affect the window). A search will not find anything in one of the files that display in their own window.

    Anyone got any ideas?

DB:3.03:Merged Chm Help Files Displayed In Multiple Windows cs

Thanks again Colum, I have indeed been careless in the past when selecting the buttons for the window. However this wasn't the prime cause.

David Hutchinson of the ISTC in the UK told me the cure -

"Check the section in the project's HHP file - open it in Notepad. The problem is likely to be that each line for a merged file includes the path to its folder. Remove the path and recompile the chm file."

The files that worked were just listed plain, those that caused problems had the file path attached.

    Paths removed, problem solved.

    Hi all

In addition to what darkagn offered here, keep in mind that
WinHelp files are all based on Microsoft Word documents. As such,
Microsoft Word supports tab spacing. Tab spacing does not exist and
has no place in the world of HTML. So this could be factoring into

I believe you're running into the relative path bug,

    http://helpware.net/FAR/far_faq.htm#RelativePaths

The workaround is to use scripting to get the absolute path

After i generate the chm file, there is no "Index" showing in the book, although i check the tab already in the "Window Properties" - Tri-pane Tabs and Windows - "TOC Index". And I have index file in the project. Is this the right place to check this item?

    Thanks a lot for help.

DB:3.02:No Index In The Chm File xm

Hi, thank you for your help.

But there are quite a lot of index keywords in the Index file. Each topic has several keywords. More information about this project:

    1. This is a merged help. I checked in the "Project Settings" - Index, i chose "Add New Keywords to Index File (HHK)".

    2. I set "Microsoft HTML Help" as Primary Layout, in the "Properties" window, i select all TOC, Index as default ones. In "Additional Options", i select "Apply to all Topics - CSS (catalog.css)". Weirdly, the"Next" button on this window is not highlighted, thus i cannot go to the next page.

    3. I check the first keyword in the index, and it belongs to this topic which is shown in the TOC. So the topic containing the first index keyword is not missing.

    4. The project was a X5 project, since i took over, i've been using RH8. The index now in the project is different from the original generated chm's index. Some of the keywords are missing in the current project. I see some people in the forum having problems with the Index by updating the project to RH8.

    Wow, amazing find out!

I create this new index named "New", "drag and drop" some of the keywords from the original index to this "new" index, just three of them. Because i only want to check if the new index will show in the generated chm file or not. And also i set this "New" index as default.

It turned out that not only the index shows up in the chm file, but also shows all the keywords in the old project. i mean the same as the old generated chm file. Weird no? I thought by using the "New" index, only those three keywords would show up. But everything shows up, even more than the ones in the project.

Although it gives exact the index i want, i still want the explanations to these. In which way does this "New" index help?

    Thanks for all your help.

    DB:3.02:External Linking Not Working p3

    (RH7 and .chm files)

The issue: one of our sub-.chms contains two links to
external .htm documents (release notes). Previously (in RH5), these
links worked, but we've since discovered that they've broken at
some point in the past. The most obvious candidates for causes is
that a) my XP machine was replaced with a Vista machine, and b) we
    upgraded to RH7.

Nothing we do seems to fix the "Can't be found" error.
Because the release notes are upgraded separately to show new
features, they have to remain separate files, so import or baggage
do not appear to be acceptable solutions.

My real question: is there anything with Vista and/or RH7 we
should be aware of that would affect external linking in a CHM
file? As it no longer works in XP machines either, I'm assuming RH7
is the culprit, but I'm open to any possible cause and solution.

    Thanks!

one knows about this let me know.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Sarat Chandra

DB:3.02:How To Open .Chm File Using Robohelp dj

Hi Sarat and welcome to the RH community.

First of all, make sure that you do not have access to the
source files that produced the CHM. If you have access to the
source it will save you lots of time and trouble. Ask around. Maybe
someone knows something about where the source is. Note that
depending on what package was used to create the CHM and how old
the source is, you may not find an .XPJ file.

If you really can't find any source, you can decompile the
CHM to a folder (a similar proccess to extracting a zip file) using
RH's inbuilt HTML Help Studio tool. This recreates the topics in a
series of HTM files. Create a new RH project and import them in.
The decompile also generates any browse sequence, glossary, TOC and
index files. These you can copy into your new project's directory
to overwrite the ones already there. Take backups before you do
    this just in case.

This will give you the basis of your help file but you may
find that if topics had conditional build tags, variables or
snippets that these will not be present. You can always copy across
    the , rhbuildtag.apj, rhsnippet.apj and rhvariable.apj files from
another project if they use the same ones to start the process of
    reinstating them.

    This
article covers what I have added in some more detail.

What do we need to do to make this happen so that all the RoboHelp-specific stuff compiles as it should (browse sequences, glossary of terms tab etc)? Do we need a new copy of RoboHelp that just runs on the server? I'm not sure how to accomplish this. If anyone else is doing something similar and could share their wisdom I would appreciate it.

DB:3.02:Building A Rh .Chm File On A Server? km

    Both.

The project (source, not output) will run poorly, if at all, on a server.

The licensing is also an issue.

In addition, command-line builds, AFAIK, can only be done if an identical layout has already been established, and only on the same machine. Whether that's an RH 8 bug, or a misunderstanding of the function on our part, I'm not sure. Keep up the good fight. As to "a releasable state on a daily basis," that's what we do. Our manager, twice daily, runs a script that generates a .war file from our output, copies it to a release engineering staging area, and everybody's happy.

    Good luck,

    Leon

These are general development questions not related to programming the Visual Studio APIs, so we cannot give you the best answers. However, searching MSDN for the term HTMLhelp api resulted in a number of results, including this one:

DB:3.02:Re: Winhelp And Windows Vista 11

    Annie_1 -

    Welcome to the forum.

Currently, Htmlhelp, as in a .chm file, is the only real
    contender.
Microsoft's Vista Help will probably be released with Windows
    Vista, but it may
be used only for Windows' integrated help system, much like
    XP's Help and
    Support Center.

DB:3.02:Re: Winhelp And Windows Vista 11

Whoa - that was strange. I posted this answer to Annie_1 in
    another thread, online, just once:

    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=453threadid=1166770en terthread=y

Now it's posted as if from a Newsgroup User. odd. No news
reader was used (or harmed) in the creation of that post.

DB:3.02:Rh 6 .Chm Compatibility In Vista pj

RH 6 cannot be installed successfully under Vista but
everything I've read indicates the 6.0-generated .chm
works...However, when viewing a RH 6.0-generated .chm (local not on
server) under Vista, I receive the following error in the topic
pane: "The address is not valid." Viewing the same file under XP
    works fine.

Anyone else experiencing problems viewing RH 6.0-generated
    .chm files under Vista?

    Thx for any insight.

DB:3.02:Rh 6 .Chm Compatibility In Vista pj

    Hi all

For what it's worth, Robin sent me a small .CHM that did not
work on Vista. It worked fine on my Vista, which seems to point to
a Vista configuration issue on Robin's end.

    Cheers... Rick
