    Hello,

    I've gota worksheet ("WORKSHEET A") withten columns. Each column ("COLUMN A1", "COLUMN A2",etc.)is titled withauniquenumber generated from anseparate worksheet. Each titlewill dynamically change to a differentnumber based on changes to this outside
    worksheet.
    I've got another worksheet in the same workbook("WORKSHEET B") withten columns. Each column ("COLUMN B1", "COLUMN B2",etc.) is titled with auniquenumber that is static. Each column containsten rows of static data with a unique number in every cell.There
    isoneDefined Name ("NAMED ROW 1", "NAMED ROW 2",etc.)for eachrow in this worksheet. Each of the Defined Names has a range of one row and all ten columns.

    Here's an example of what I would like to do:

    I wish to have a cell in "WORKSHEET A" in "COLUMN A1" use theuniquenumberstated inits owncolumn title to look for thesame unique numberin the column titles of "WORKSHEET B." When it finds an exactmatch, inthis example it's "COLUMN B6", I then want
    to tell it to find whatever number intersects "NAMED ROW 3" and "COLUMN B6" and display it back in that cell in "COLUMN A1".
    I've done two-dimensional lookups before, but it's been a long while, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Also, don't worry about if some of the title numbers in "WORKSHEET A" don't match any title numbers in "WORKSHEET B" as I'm going to slap on an IFERROR message inthat rare circumstance.

    DB:3.30:Serialize Multi Dimensional Arrays? ms

    Is there any way to serialize multi dimensional arrays? I've tried with a normal XMLSerializer but all i get is an InvalidOperationExeption saying that serialization of multi dimensional arrays is not allowed.
    One option might be to first convert my int[10,10]into an int[100] and then convert it back after deserilazationbut it would be much more comfortable to serialize it from it's initial form.

    DB:3.30:Serialize Multi Dimensional Arrays? ms

    Oh but it does make a difference -- int[][] is an array of integer arrays, which is subtly different from a two-dimensional integer array (int[,]).For example, if you are taking an external int[][] in your constructor you'll need to make sure that you do a deep copy of the array, which is more hassle than just calling Clone() on a 2D array.Eg.class BadClass{    private int[][] data = null;    BadClass(int[][] data)    {       this.data = data.Clone();    }}This is bad code -- the data.Clone() is only doing a copy of the outer array, but the second-dimension arrays are not copied so the caller can change them out from under you.Eg....int[][] data = { ... };BadClass foo = new BadClass(data);data[0][0] = 42;   // I just changed foo's private member!The same applies for whenever you're returning this data -- if you want the data to be read-only you need to do a deep copy to make sure the caller can't get at your data. (The more 'modern' approach would be to return a readonly collection instead of a raw datatype such as an array)

    Hi,
    I would like to know as how the new SSAS- Tabular should be implemented as an enterprise solution. With SSAS Multi-Dimensional available in much matured manner why, where and what
    scenarios would demand a BISM solution in an organization. The different scenarios of the organization can be

    1. Org has already a SSAS Multi-Dimensional solution implemented. Is now there a scope to use Tabular?
    2. Org does not have any multi-dimensional solution in which case what scenarios of org demand BISM, what scenarios demand MD?

    Thanks,
    Sri Meda

    DB:3.29:Ssas Tabular, Multi-Dimensional Or Hybrid - Enterprise Scenarios m3

    Hi Srivatsav,
    The BI Semantic Model is an evolution of the UDM from a pure multidimensional model into a hybrid model that offers all of the capabilities of the UDM and more. As such, the term Unified Dimensional Model is no longer used with SQL Server Denali
    and is subsumed by the BI Semantic Model.Currently, if you want to leverage UDM, you have to upgrade the older mode to BISM using SQL Server Data Tools You can refer to this link to get more information

    http://www.jamesserra.com/archive/2011/06/sql-server-%E2%80%9Cdenali%E2%80%9D-details-on-the-next-version-of-ssas/
    To current supported two modes: tabular mode or Multidimensional model, You will have two languages, MDX and DAX, to define business logic and to query the model. And you will have two engines, MOLAP and Vertipaq. The great big news is that in BISM it will
    be possible to combine these components as you need: DAX query over a multidimensional model, MDX Script over a Tabular, and any client able to access to any model. But its first release in Denali will not offer the full flexibility that has been promised.
    Analysis Services has a long learn curve, you have to learn MDX, currently, with the new feature Tabular mode which are available at SQL Server 2012, it will have a relevant short learn curve, besides DAX is similar to Excel formula, which is more easy to
    learn. For more information about Tabular model, please see:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb522628(v=SQL.110).aspx

    var csvDs = sds.DataSet.Open(csvfilePath ?openMode=open);

    //Get all data from the csv file

    int n = pcpval.GetLength(0);
    int m = pcpval.GetLength(1);
    double[] pcp1d = new double[n * m];

    for (int i = 0, k=0; i n; i)

    DB:3.09:Object [ ] [ ] Array And Db Insertion... p3

    Hi there ppl,

    I'm not sure if i'm going about this the right way but i'm making a db gui using swing and i now need to construct a multi-dimensional array with results retrieved from a db. I'm ok with connecting and retrieving results from a db, but not quite sure about this scenario inserting db results into a multi-dimensional array.

    The reason for using a multi- dimensional array is because i'm using a JFrame, TableModel and AbstractTableModel.

    Please can somebody post me an example of some code where db results are inserted into an Object[][] array.

    Thanks.

    DB:3.09:Object [ ] [ ] Array And Db Insertion... p3

    2-D arrays are easier to be pictured as a table. The JTable handle's the table headers, so all you want in the array is the pure data.

    int
    p1 = 3,
    p2 = 5;
    String [] [] s = new String [p1] [p2];

    for (int i = 0; i = p1 - 1; i ++) {
    for (int j = 0; j = p2 - 1; j ++) {
    s [j] = i*j;
    }
    }

    this example will give you a multiplication table.. I think... but yea, picture it as a table where the first 'parameter' of the array would be each column, and each column has a specific number of rows (second 'parameter').

    Hope that sheds some light,

    Visser

    "Arrays of multiple dimension are not supported in this release."

    However, you might be able to pass them as method results.

    Given that Java handles 2D arrays as a 1D array of 1D arrays you could try something along the lines of:

    dim a as variant
    dim b as variant

    a=myBean.getMultiArray

    In current release, we can add a hyperlink to a text box in a sheet or view in PowerView report. If a field in your data model contains a hyperlink, add the field to the sheet or view. It can link to any Internet or email address. However, it seem that we
    cannot create a drill-though report in PowerView like that in SSRS report using action property. We cannot give you the exact time when will the products be related in way that will support Power View drill-through to SSRS reports. If you have any concerns

    What’s new in Power View, if the feature was released, Microsoft will announce it on that link.

    Thanks nobugz for reply. As I spoke above, I want to rebuild a bitmap from 2-D array, which store color value of pixels. First, I thought the above example would normally work, but here error occured . According to your instructions, I created the array 2-D from a bitmap. Now, has any method(solution) to rebuild bitmap from that array?

    Hi,

    I have bumped into an issue while dynamically generating the IL code that involves multi-dimensional arrays. It can be best demonstrated by following code:

    *****************************
    using System;
    using System.Reflection;
    using System.Reflection.Emit;

    public interface ITest
    {
    void Test(double[,] d);
    }

    class Test
    {
    static void Main()
    {
    string name = TestAssembly;
    AssemblyName asmName = new AssemblyName(name);
    AssemblyBuilder ab = AppDomain.CurrentDomain.DefineDynamicAssembly(
    asmName, AssemblyBuilderAccess.RunAndSave);
    ModuleBuilder mb = ab.DefineDynamicModule(name, name .dll);

    TypeBuilder tb =
    mb.DefineType(TestImpl, TypeAttributes.Public, typeof(System.Object));
    tb.AddInterfaceImplementation(typeof(ITest));

    MethodInfo mInfo = typeof(ITest).GetMethod(Test);
    ParameterInfo[] pInfo = mInfo.GetParameters();
    Type paramType = pInfo[0].ParameterType;

    MethodBuilder mbIM = tb.DefineMethod(Test,
    MethodAttributes.Public | MethodAttributes.Virtual,
    null,
    new Type[] { paramType });
    ILGenerator il = mbIM.GetILGenerator();
    il.Emit(OpCodes.Ldstr, Test method was called);
    il.Emit(OpCodes.Call, typeof(Console).GetMethod(WriteLine,
    new Type[] { typeof(string) }));
    il.Emit(OpCodes.Ret);

    Type tc = tb.CreateType();

    Object test = Activator.CreateInstance(tc);

    MethodInfo mi = tc.GetMethod(Test);
    mi.Invoke(test, new object[] { new double[,]{{}} });
    Console.ReadLine();
    }
    }
    *****************************

    When compile and run this code, I get a TypeLoadException with following message:

    {Method 'Test' in type 'TestImpl' from assembly 'TestAssembly, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' does not have an implementation.:TestImpl}

    The problem seems to be the type of input to the Test method. It only fails if the input type of Test is a multi-dimensional array. It works fine for scalars, 1-D arrays or even jagged arrays. E.g. It works fine
    if Test is changed to something like:

    void Test(double[] d);

    and corresponding change in the mi.Invoke:

    mi.Invoke(test, new object[] { new double[]{ });

    I am using Windows 7(64-bit) and .NET Framework 3.5.

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Yes it is possible...

    You create one structure and use that structure as table field in the seperate table. it will create two dimensional table.

    But one thing is to note that table can be used only once in this heirarchy and multiple structures can be used.

    Hope it will help you.

All of those destinations will create files that Excel can open and render. Which one are you using?

    Hey Mark... thanks for your answer. On the other hand, i'm not pleased to read it...... :-(

    As long as I know, OBIEE should work it out, if you use a Multi Dimensional database as source. Then (as you may see in the second link on my previuos post), OBIEE supports RAGGED, UNBALANCED, etc., hierarchies...

    Now, what we must question is: Isn't Oracle OLAP a multi-dimensional engine??? Why isn't it available as an option when importing from Multi-Dimensional sources on the Admin Tool?

    Stuff like this makes me feel a little bit stupider every day...

    I go along with you, hope to read someone answering this question and saying we stank at OBIEE....

    Thanks!

    DB:2.74:Re: Obiee And Oracle Olap Value Based Hierarchies md

    Mark,

    I don't understand your point (a). The example that I gave does not need all levels for all branches to be populated. Its like a ragged-level-based hierarchy. Leaf-level values will be at different levels.

    Regarding your point (b), I don't think the "depths" increase that often. Even when we talk about level-based hierarchies, an addition of a new level in OLAP, will require adding a new level in the RPD - which will be a manual effort.

    By the way... as a side note, you can automate the creation of OLAP_TABLE views by writing your own SQL procedure. The starting point could be the AWM Plugin that creates the views. You can "steal" some code from there. That way you will have full control over the number of FAMILYRELVAL lines in the LIMITMAP.

    Are there any full sample scripts available for building multi-dimensional analytical cubes in Oracle 9iR2? The BIBDEMO the Sales cubes are all RELATIONAL cubes, not multi-dimensional cubes.

    The OLAP DML Developer guide seems to have some snippets of code that will build an AW out of the Sales History tables, but it is not clear if its complete. Plus there are no samples for "registering" this AW into the OLAP Catalog.

    Ideally, I'm looking for sample scripts that

    1) Build a AW based on Sales History (or BIBDEMO)
    2) Populate it with data from Sales History tables
    3) All the PLSQL (CWM2 other packages based) to register this AW into the OLAP Catalog.

    Currently, you seem to need to write a lot of code to do some fairly basic stuff with multi-dim AWs. I am hoping the Analytical WorkSpace Manager will help make this kind of maintenance easier (pls confirm/deny). I know it is supposed to be out in Jan sometime. Are there early versions of this available in OTN somewhere?

    I am hoping the Analytical WorkSpace Manager will help make this kind of maintenance easier (pls confirm/deny). I know it is supposed to be out in Jan sometime. Are there early versions of this available in OTN somewhere?Yes, AW Manager will help greatly. Among other things, even in the first release, it will have a wizard that will allow to to create/refresh standard form AW's from relational cubes. AW Manager will setup the metadata etc for the BI Beans ( Java OLAP API), and, if you want it to, an end user layer and relational views using the OLAP_TABLE function for use by Oracle Discoverer (and other relational tools if they want to use them). You will also be able to create and modify AW objects directly via an easy to use UI and access the command line via integration with the OLAP.

    It should be posted to Metalink in January. I am confident that there will be an announcement in this forum when it is available.

    This question is pretty vague. The best data structure to use depends on the data itself: what does it mean, how will it be used? The simplest thing you could do is list all components of type X using GetComponentsInChildren, then iterate over the list according to whatever criteria you have in mind.

    Maybe you want a List, for flexibility.

    Maybe you want a HashSet, to make sure entries are only present once.

    Maybe you want a Dictionary, for rapid lookups.

    Maybe you want a jagged or multi-dimensional array, to represent some columnar or grid setup.

    There are many data structures you could use. A question as open-ended as this is really more suited to the forums.

    Failing that, you can always check the Unity wiki: Which Kind Of Array Or Collection Should I Use?

    It's better not to use strings with GetComponent (faster, plus you get compile-time errors instead of runtime errors), also using generics is a simple way to avoid dynamic typing, which for some reason causes problems with multi-dimensional arrays.

    value2 = GetComponent.ScriptA().array2[0];
    value1 = GetComponent.ScriptA().array1[0,0];

    DB:2.72:Problem Accesing Arrays 31

    Is value1 supposed to be accessing a 2D array? If so, it wouldn't be an int (Up top at the initializing), I believe. So I'd guess the problem is you're making value1 and int, but it can't be an int, because it's holding 2 values from the array.... If that makes sense.

    Comment for further help.

    Hope this makes sense, and good luck!

    Could someone help me out?

    ... or subclass the JLabel class. The objects from this class should
    be constructed using the additional x and y coordinates as well as
    the string/icon that would be passed to the JLabel class, i.e. the,
    say, GridLabel class is aware of the coordinate pair it is representing.

    Two simple getters() should top it off. Something like this:public class GridLabel extends JLabel {
    private int x, y;
    public GridLabel(int x, int y, String s) {
    super(s);
    this.x= x;
    this.y= y;
    }
    // possibly some more ctors here ...
    // ...
    // get the coordinates
    public int getX() { return x; }
    public int getY() { return y; }
    }The single listener could get the source from the event, cast it to a
    GridLabel and retrieve the x and y coordinates from it.

    kind regards,

    Hello,
    Does anyone know when is theofficial release of SQL Server that allows PowerView connection to Multi-Dimensional cubes?
    Goal: Use SharePoint PowerView BISM connection to connect to Multi-Dimensional cubes (does not have to host the cube, but connect to a cube on another server).
    I've read that some CTP version of SQL Server allows this feature, but would like to know if there's any official release version and what steps does it take to establish a BISM connection to multi-dimensional? I already have created BISM connection
    to tabular cube, what steps do I have to do to connect to multi-dimensional?
    What's config change forSharePoint server and/or config change for Reporting Services?

    Right now, it is already in SharePoint integrated mode (connecting tabular cube).
    Do I need separate BISM files to connect to tabular cubes versus multi-dimensional cubes?

    table["key1"]["key2"]["key3"]=v
    And GET access (with "wild cards") like:
    v = table["key1"][null]["key2"];Are your sure your wildcard access returns only a single value?

    I can do through simple loop to handle wild card, but
    that table may have millions of values stored - it
    will take forever.Depending on the distribution of your millions, I'm not convinced it'll take forever. I'd do this implementation first, measure some response times and then decide whether optimization is needed.

    Also, if a wildcard access may return many values (as I suspect), this is going to take some time no matter which optimizations tricks you invent.

    Thank youA possible implementation is, insert a null key at each level. So your SET access is implemented with 8 set operations:

    table[null][null][null]=v
    table[null][null"]["key3"]=v
    table[null]["key2"][null]=v
    table[null]["key2"]["key3"]=v
    table["key1"][null][null]=v
    table["key1"][null]["key3"]=v
    table["key1"]["key2"][null]=v
    table["key1"]["key2"]["key3"]=v

    Much refinement is needed to handle multiple values for each wildcard key, even more so if you require to be able to overwrite a previous value in a SET operation. Take it as an idea and see if you can make something of it.

    DB:2.67:Passing Some Part Of A Multidimensional Array To Function pa

    Hi! How can I Passe some part of multi-Dimensional Array to Function. For example only two dimension of three dimension of a an array with 3 dimension. this is because my function is defined for working with 2 dimension arrays.
    Regards.

    DB:2.67:Passing Some Part Of A Multidimensional Array To Function pa

    Using a concrete example just to simplify the terminology.
    int arr[4][3][2] is stored in memory in row major order. Element arr[0][0][0] is followed immediately by element arr[0][0][1] which is followed immediately by arr[0][1][0]. Similaraly, arr[0][2][1] is immediately followed by arr[1][0][0].
    Multi-dimensional arrays are actually arrays of arrays. arr is an array of 4 T where T is a 2 dimensional array. This yields T is an array of 3 U and U is an array of 2 int. Combining yields arr is an array of 4 arrays of 3 arrays of 2 int.
    This is pretty unwieldy. It is simpler to think of it as:
    Each arr[i] is an object of type int[3][2].
    Each arr[i][j] is an object of type int[2].
    Each arr[i][j][k] is an object of type int.
    Which brings us to your question. If the portion of the array you want to pass to the function corresponds to one of the objects described above, then you can pass it using the correspondingsyntax. Given the prototype
    void func1(int[3][2]);
    you could pass any of the 4 two dimensional arrays in arr to func1 with the calling statement
    func1(arr[i]);
    Similarly, given
    void func2(int[2]);
    you could pass any of the 12 one dimensional arrays in arr to func2 with
    func2(arr[i][j]);

    Visual C is a product, not a language. Visual C supports three languages:

    C/CLI

    I think your question is: how to create a multi-dimensional CLR array in C/CLI.

    Others have answered your question. Note that you can use native multi-dimensional arrays or native classes in C/CLI, but you cannot make them member variables of CLR classes.

    If you know the basics of dimensional modeling, you will be still confused how we can covert an OLTP system to dimensional modeling. I think that is where you are now. To confuse you more, may be the sample

    To start with, please take one fact table and two associated simple dimensions and try to create the same in your local.

    DB:2.62:Multiproviders And Aggregates 7f

    Its more like , An aggregate is a smaller cube that has report relevant data. The aggregate is always a subset of the physical cube. For example , if the cube has 10 dimensions , the aggregate will have less than 10 dimensions ( need not be but mostly the case) and the report will hit this aggregate directly when reports are required. That way lesser data is retrieved.In the case of a multiprovider , it is a logical cube and DOES NOT HOLD ANY DATA , therefore you cannot have aggregates on a logical cube which does not hold any data. A multiprovider is more like a view based on the constituen components.Hope it helps..Arun

    When Outlook speaks to a Domain Controller for lookups (either LDAP or GC), what port does it use? 389 or 3268? Or does it depend on the sort of query?

    DB:2.61:Outlook And Ad Lookup Query a7

    Hi Sheen,
    There are two parts to this. Outlook will initially query AD over LDAP for valid Global Catalogs using DSAcess over 389, then once it retrieves it, Outlook will use DSProxy over 3268 to access the GCs, and it will cache the DSProxy request after the initial
    query so there is no subsequent queries until Outlook is shutdown. However, please keep in mind, there are a number of other ports required for communications.
    When using Outlook anywhere or Outlook RPC/HTTPS, the rules change, however subsequently over the HTTPS connection, it will use NSPI 6001-6004 eventually proxying it as a DSProxy communications over 3268 to communicate to the GCs.

    DB:2.60:Multi-Dimensional Sets In A Hierarchy 77

    Hi

    I'm trying to create a set hierarchy which contains multi-dimensional sets. When adding the multi-dimensional set as a sub-ordinate in the hierarchy I receive the error Set Name invalid characteristic for Input Field HKONT.

    The requirement is that on a report in BI we need to limit rows on a report to specific GL accounts and then specific transaction types (BEWAR) within those GL accounts. We have around 20 reports that have the same format but the GL accounts and Transaction Types on each row are different - hence we wanted to use sets to maintain the GL accounts and transaction types for each row.

    So I've created several sets which are single sets and it all works fine. But when I create a multidimensional set (with Account and Transaction Type) it works fine. But when I attempt to add that as a subordinate set (ie to create the row in the report hierarchy) I get this message.

    The Set that contains the rows can't be a multidimensional set as I can't add multi-dimensional sets to multi-dimensional sets.

    Anyone come across this or know of a way around it ? or perhaps a different approach.

    Thanks

    DB:2.60:Multi-Dimensional Sets In A Hierarchy 77

    Hi Ajay

    I don't think you can add multiple characteristics to a single set. - ie it has to be a multi-dimensional set to do that but you can't include a multi-dimensional set as a subordinate of a multidimensional set.

    DB:2.59:Help Please With Returning Multi-Dimensional Array... 87

    is there some way to return a mutlidimensional array from a function??? double *MatrixMultiply (double m1 [][3], double m2 [][3]){int r, c;for (r = 0; r 3; r++)for (c = 0; c 3; c++)m1[r][ c ] =m2[r][0] * m1[0][ c ] +m2[r][1] * m1[1][ c ] +m2[r][2] * m1[2][ c ];return (m1);}

    DB:2.59:Help Please With Returning Multi-Dimensional Array... 87

    Yes, you can return a multi-dimensional array, but in the example you post, you are passing 2 matrices to the function via pointers to arrays that have already been allocated in the calling routine, so you can just return the product the same way. Just make the function "void" and return the 3x3 array through the argument list. You are in fact already well along your way to doing just that, by using the input array m1 to store your output too. The biggest problem with what you have done, though, is in trying to overlay the output atop the input, by writing m2 X m1 onto m1, while you are still using m1 to calculate the product. So when r=0 and c=0, you stored a new value into m1[0][0], and then you used m1[0][0] again in a later pass when r=1 and c=0, but now m1[0][0] was in fact the new value rather than what you passed in. You would be better off to allocate memory at the start of the function for a new product matrix "double m3[3][3]", compute the product m3 = m2 X m1, and **then** overwrite the input (if that's what you really want to do!!!) m1 = m3, so that the "extra memory" for the product will be deallocated when the function returns. (Naturally, if you need the original array m1 later in the program, allocate space for m3 and return a pointer to it, leaving m1 unaffected.) Also, be sure you do want the product m2 X m1, not the product m1 X m2! :)

    I downloaded ODP.net I don't see anything.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Hello,

    I think we discussed this via an email, but if not... (and perhaps someone else will have the same question)...

    - Passing multi-dimensional arrays is not currently supported.

    - Passing objects/abstract data types/user defined data types is being supported with the current 11g beta for ODP.NET

    Hope that helps a bit...

    Hi

    ThanksSame as any other variable. I don't know why you would have a problem with this.

    public void yourmethod(double[][] values){

    }

    public static void main(String args[]){
    double[][] vals = new double[10][10];
    yourmethod(vals);
    }

    DB:2.59:Re: Passing A Double Dimensional Array sj

    Really? How would you write a compiler for this,
    assuming that the array is copied to the stack and
    not the heap, and that the array size could be
    variable? Of course, if either of those conditions is
    not asserted, then it should be no sweatIt shouldn't be harder to pass an array of say ints than it is to pass a single int. You just have to know how many there are. At least I think so. It may be some catch here.

    DB:2.58:Multidimensional Arrays In Pl/Sql jc

    I'm very familiar with single dimensional arrays such as this:

    declare
    type year_type is table of number index by binary_integer;
    year_sales year_type;
    tot_sales number;
    begin
    year_sales(1990) := 34000;
    year_sales(1991) := 45000;
    year_sales(1992) := 43000;

    tot_sales := year_sales(1990) + year_sales(1991) +
    year_sales(1992);
    dbms_output.put_line('Total sales: ' || tot_sales);
    end;but I'd like to get a basic understanding of multi-dimensional arrays. As an example, if I have a "claim number" 123456 and two different "field numbers" 2471 and 2472 for that one claim, that contain values ('value1','value2'), could I store them in a multi-dimensional array? Logically, I would like the values to be store something like the following.

    multi_array(123456)(2471) := 'value1';
    multi_array(123456(2472) := 'value2'; Could someone point me in the right direction with this one with a simple example?

    Thank you.

    DB:2.58:Il Code Generation And Multi-Dimensional Arrays 1a

    Hi,

    I have bumped into an issue while dynamically generating the IL code that involves multi-dimensional arrays. It can be best demonstrated by following code:

    *****************************
    using System;
    using System.Reflection;
    using System.Reflection.Emit;

    public interface ITest
    {
    void Test(double[,] d);
    }

    class Test
    {
    static void Main()
    {
    string name = "TestAssembly";
    AssemblyName asmName = new AssemblyName(name);
    AssemblyBuilder ab = AppDomain.CurrentDomain.DefineDynamicAssembly(
    asmName, AssemblyBuilderAccess.RunAndSave);
    ModuleBuilder mb = ab.DefineDynamicModule(name, name + ".dll");

    TypeBuilder tb =
    mb.DefineType("TestImpl", TypeAttributes.Public, typeof(System.Object));
    tb.AddInterfaceImplementation(typeof(ITest));

    MethodInfo mInfo = typeof(ITest).GetMethod("Test");
    ParameterInfo[] pInfo = mInfo.GetParameters();
    Type paramType = pInfo[0].ParameterType;

    MethodBuilder mbIM = tb.DefineMethod("Test",
    MethodAttributes.Public | MethodAttributes.Virtual,
    null,
    new Type[] { paramType });
    ILGenerator il = mbIM.GetILGenerator();
    il.Emit(OpCodes.Ldstr, "Test method was called");
    il.Emit(OpCodes.Call, typeof(Console).GetMethod("WriteLine",
    new Type[] { typeof(string) }));
    il.Emit(OpCodes.Ret);

    Type tc = tb.CreateType();

    Object test = Activator.CreateInstance(tc);

    MethodInfo mi = tc.GetMethod("Test");
    mi.Invoke(test, new object[] { new double[,]{{}} });
    Console.ReadLine();
    }
    }
    *****************************

    When compile and run this code, I get a TypeLoadException with following message:

    {"Method 'Test' in type 'TestImpl' from assembly 'TestAssembly, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' does not have an implementation.":"TestImpl"}

    The problem seems to be the type of input to the "Test" method. It only fails if the input type of "Test" is a multi-dimensional array. It works fine for scalars, 1-D arrays or even jagged arrays. E.g. It works fine if Test is changed to something like:

    void Test(double[] d);

    and corresponding change in the mi.Invoke:

    mi.Invoke(test, new object[] { new double[]{ });

    I am using Windows 7(64-bit) and .NET Framework 3.5.

    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks

    DB:2.58:Returning Single-Element Multi-Dimensional Arrays fz

    There are times when I write a function, which is designed to return a multi-dimensional array.Now, I know that functions in PowerShell do not return values in the way most typical programming languages do, rather they pass objects down the pipeline, however, that usually doesn't affect the outcome, and usually it can be treated identically to the way you'd treat calling/returning in other languages.With the advantage that you can return multiple values, which is awesome.However, when I'm writing a PowerShell script to process a large amount of data, it's often logical to lay it out in a multi-dimensional array -- like a table. For example, I have been writing a series of scripts that generate CSV data, and successive scripts read in the CSV data and process it in a new way.When reading the CSV data in, I find it logical to store it as a multi-dimensional array. So each line is an index of the outer array, and each value is an index is the inner array.However, there are times when a CSV file has one line in it.When I try and call a function which takes the filename of the CSV file, and parses it into the appropriate multi-dimensional array, and then returns that array, if the outer array has only one element (i.e. the file had only one line), PowerShell flattens the array, turning it into a one-dimensional array, which proceeds to totally break the remainder of my code, and generate all sorts of index into null array errors (for obvious reasons).Trying to logicize this with the pipelining paradigm has left me dry. I've tried everything, casting the returned value into an array, piping it to foreach, et cetera, no matter what, multi-dimensional arrays returned with more than one index are fine, so if my CSV file had two lines, the returned valuewould workperfectly, but everytime a multi-dimensional array with only one index is returned, it is flattened.This problem also occurs with single-dimensional arrays with one value, but casting them to arrays fixes the problem (because they are not already arrays), however, since a flattened multi-dimensional array is now a single-dimensional array, casting them to arrays has no effect (because they are already arrays, just not with as many dimensions as the logic of my code requires).Any solutions?To me this is an obvious flaw with an otherwise flawless scripting language.

    DB:2.58:Returning Single-Element Multi-Dimensional Arrays fz

    There's actually a little simpler way than this. I can't take credit for the idea... there's another post around here explaining it. Basically, if you return the result set via @(,$result), the multi-dimensional structure will be preserved. In my example below, I pass mutli-dimensional arrays to a function that returns them, with the structure preserved. The reason this is necessary, as I understand it, is because PowerShell attempts to pipeline the results of the function, which essentially breaks the container result into individual elements. By wrapping the results in an array, we end up with a single element in the pipelined result. function rtnAry( $ary ) { return @(,$ary) } # multi-dimensional, 1 row $a = @(,@('r1c1', 'r1c2') ) $z = rtnAry $a $z[0][0] $z[0][1] # multi-dimensional, 2 row $a = @( @('r1c1', 'r1c2'), @('r2c1', 'r2c2') ) $z = rtnAry $a $z[0][0] $z[0][1] $z[1][0] $z[1][1]

    Yes and no. Technically, Java does not have multi-dimensional arrays. However, Java does have arrays of arrays, and arrays of arrays of arrays, etc. which are what we refer to as multi-dimensional arrays in the context of Java. Given that, it is possible.

For example, calculate the sales for a customer and for an accounting period and for a country. Can you direct me to any examples or documentation for this type of application, or perhaps provide a recommendation?
    Also, I've searched OTN and Open World for additional tutorials, text references, and information on how jdeveloper consistently organizes its classes and methods. Are there alternate sources for this information?

    Yes....you can....and since this is not your first question about dynamic arrays...since we are looking at C++, I would also like to recommend using the STL classes as the base for your arrays since they come with some benefits such as integrated memory management etc. - for further information take a look at the following: How to declare and use two-dimensional arrays?

    i tried treating it as a long one dimensional array. Short of making it one, does anyone have any ideas?

    DB:2.58:Bitconverter.Tosingle With A Two Dimensional Byte Array 1d

    Not yet i tried a few more things.  i might be able to expand on the actual goal i am trying to achieve.
    i receive around 100 arrays, each 19kb long.  I want to put them into a two dimensional array.
    Each array has bytes that represent character strings, floats, and integers.  I want to put it into a 2D array so that i can refer to each array by the row number. I then want to extract the important data from within each row.
    These are going to be used to create a graph.
    example row:
    [16 byte string(name),integer(number of X values),integer (number of Y values),integer(max X),integer(min X),float(Max Y),...]
    each row has the same format and i am using this so i can easily scale my program to add more rows etc.
    i need an efficient way to extract the different things.  for example a loop with the string length.  using BitConverter to get the int and float values.  But i am having a hard time using bitconverter with a 2D array.  I tried using Array.GetValue but it retreives a single position when i need a 4Byte long.  i could always use a user defined method to extract 4 values and then convert it to a long, but there has to be a better way.  I think i am missing something with the BitConverter.
    if this is hard to understand i can provide a code example on monday.

    Thanks For the follow up.
